Tyrouge didn't know the meaning of escape. He rushed in in his opponent, his instincts of fight kicking in. Hard. With a swift blow, he nearly hit Joe, just narrowly missing. The constant bombardment of snow was throwing off its accuracy, and it didn't like that. The Tyrouge darted back as the alarmed Joe turned to face it, feeling the movement and the whoosh of the hand. Rubbing the frost off its eyelids, the Tyrouge braced itself- and if we ran again, it would chase. I looked at Joe and reached into my sling bag, but even though I pretty much didn't have to be Einstein or psychic to know what Joe would tell me, I had to ask him, or else Boss Sama would kill me. Again. And I didn't like that. Well, would anyone like it?

"Would you like to purchase a Pokedoll?" I said. I glared at the Tyrouge, making sure it wouldn't try to perform a karate chop on me. Again. Why was I always the one who got hurt? I thought it was the ranger protecting the trainer in a way of stopping him or her from getting hurt, not absorbing away their bad luck and making the bad luck get inflicted on me.

Joe watched as the small Tyrogue got agitated and started to throw punches towards him. Joe quickly took a step back and dodged the attacks. It was lucky that the snow was around to put of the small Tyrouge. Joe turned around and watched as Timpeni grabbed a small Pokedoll from the bag

"Would you like to purchase a Pokedoll?" Timpeni said, Joe smiled and handed over some cash and watched as Timpeni throw the PokeDoll.

The Tyrouge toyed around with the Pokedoll as we escaped. This has come to be quite like a routine. Running in and out, everywhere, trying to escape through camera flashes or Pokedolls, and, if we get lucky in the near future, the speed of our legs. As we neared a cave, a Pokemon called out from inside. 'Bagon! Baaaa goon!" I turned my head and saw the tiny Pokemon advancing out of the cave. Hm. It seemed to be spoiling for a fight too, but the thing also seemed to bear the scars of battle. No wonder. A dragon-type against the abundant Ice-type will lose bitterly.

"Would you like to battle this Bagon?" I asked Joe.

Joe watched as Timpeni threw the small Pokedoll towards Tyrogue. They dashed away so that the Tyrogue didn't see them, it wouldn't of anyway as it was playing around with the small Pokedoll. Joe and Timpeni walked along the icy path, Joe noticed a cave in the distance and asked Timpeni if they could go inside. However before that a small Bagon appeared in front of them.

"Would you like to battle this Bagon?" I asked Joe.

"No thank you Timpeni" Joe replied, but however if they did fail to escape, Joe had some cash out for a Pokedoll

Flaming Rose reacted faster. With the fire blasting from her mouth, her sudden jolt of energy sent power surging through her she has never felt before. The Bagon was thrown back by the blast, and quickly ran deeper in the cave. It has been scared off by Flose. I looked in awe as she flashed me a reassured and very haughty smile. That was when she started to glow. A horn grew out of her now purely white body, and her body itself grew dramatically. She released a powerful 'neigh' when the evolution stopped, leaving not a Ponyta, but a new, fully-formed and very grand Rapidash.

"Oh, wow!" I said. Flose reared her head up proudly. But then, the disk played again, spoiling the moment that belonged to her. Flose grunted irritably as we turned our attention to the bush on the left. The leaves rustled, and out came a Machop, curiously investigating the cause of the sound. I mentally asked Joe the same question, shooting his a glance. I've already said it 6 times, and was a bit tired now.

Joe suddenly watched as Flose stepped ahead and produced a wild blast towards the wild Bagon. The blast from Flose suddenly lit up the dark cave and Joe noticed another small opening ahead. The Bagon quickly ran away into the depths of the cave. Joe was about to walk on when he noticed Timpeni's Ponyta slowly glowing in a blue aura. The shape of Ponyta suddenly changed and grew taller. The flames on her back increased in size. When Flose stopped glowing she gave a loud cry and stood on her back feet.

Joe began to look back to when he caught Ponyta. It was a cool Autumn day and Joe and Buzz had currently been walking up a Mountain Cliff. Joe noticed in the ground some drag marks of a Pokemon. Later on down the path he noticed a tired Ponyta, who had looked like it had been attacked. Buzz healed the young Ponyta so that Joe could battle it. His heart was pumping full of energy and ordered Lanturn to attack and attack Ponyta. At the end of the battle, Joe realized what he had done and he couldn't speak. He tried to help the Ponyta by feeding for it and looking after it.

Joe suddenly snapped out of his day dream and watched as Timpeni stroked the head of Flose. Joe couldn't help but smile as the young Ponyta had found an owner who looked after it. A trainer who cared. Memories of that battle came back to Joe but at least now he can be happy that the Ponyta has found a better owner.

The group slowly walked down the cave, trying not to trip over the rocks that were placed on the floor. A bright light appeared in the distance, they were close to the exit of this cave. As Joe slowly walked closer, a gentle gush of wind blew past the brown hair of Joe. Joe smiled and quickly ran ahead of Timpeni. As he stood out into the fresh air, Joe looked out at the long windy path ahead of him. The snow on the floor crunched as Joe walked along the path. Timpeni caught up with Joe and suddenly stopped. A loud rattling noise came from a bush besides Joe. A small pokemon appeared from the bush. It was a Machop. Joe knew what Timpeni was about to say and quickly nodded. He has a friend back in the main land. He has agreed to import a very rare Pokemon from a region called Unova. All he wants in return is a Machop.

Joe quickly drew a Pokeball from his belt and threw in to the cool air. A flash appeared before them and a large Monkey type Pokemon appeared with many hands. It slowly yawned and scratched his head. Joe smiled before ordering Ambipom, "Ambus, sorry for waking you up but I need your assistance. I want to catch this Machop so lets go light on it. Start with using Sand Attack to disguise your self and launch a cool Ice Punch"

Ambipom nodded and began to raise his ready to attack.

 

The Machop was surprised. While it was doing its routine practice, a Pokemon it has never seen before appeared. The multiple tails of Ambus started to surge in temperature till it was at absolute zero. Ambus charged, his tail dashing forward to punch Machop rapidly in the face. The Machop glared at Ambus, his body now dipping in temperature- it was no where close to freezing, though. If Ambus had laid just one if his tails on Machop for a period of time that area would have froze, and the freezing spread. But Ambus attacked in quick smacks and punches, hindering any chances of freezing. Though, it might have been strategic- Machop's Guts ability made it that, if Machop forced itself to attack with a half-frozen body, he would hit harder than usual. And that would not do.

The Machop's eyes glowed red in anger, and his hands started to radiate a hot red aura. Energy from his body was transferred over to his arms. The reaction is an instinct inside Machop's head since ancient times, to fight off incoming threats towards it. Though it tried to calm itself, the Machop was easy to frustrate. Its usual behavior was its laid-back, humble attitude, either sleeping or training. If he trained, he trained extra-hard due to the fact he sleeps a lot. But behind this sleepy demeanor was a bad temper and confusing this sleepy demeanor with mildness and gentleness will get you ripped from limb to limb.

Machop dashed forward and hit Ambus with a punch so hard it sent him sprawling backwards. The Machop breathed heavily before falling, worn out from his Revenge move. Eying the limp Ambipom cautiously, he watched as the injured Pokemon forced itself up.

Ambipom's tails began to glow white as it blended in with the winter's air. I quickly began to jab and punch the Machop, trying not to Freeze the small Machop. The tail of Ambipom began to speed up, producing more punches by the minute. Soon he calmed down and stood opposite the Machop. Joe watched as the small guy began to glow red and began to power up his arm. Within seconds Joe knew what was going to happen. Machop was using Revenge, a move which can double if you the user took damage. Also it didn't help that Ambipom was weak to Fighting attacks.

Machop began to charge towards Ambipom and his fist connected with the rest of Ambipom body. Ambipom was send crashing into the cliff face behind Joe. The sand cloud rose above Ambipom and Joe looked to see if he was alright. That was a Powerful attack and Joe was glad Ambus was alright. He grabbed Ambus's PokeBall and returned him before grabbing Togekiss's ball again.

The Huge White Bird appeared in front of Machop, then she took off into the skies and showed off. Joe smiled before saying, "Togekiss, you Air Slash to weaken Machop, then use Yawn"

 

It seemed that Machop liked the move Revenge. No wonder- if someone attacked it first, it would pretty much be the strongest move in its arsenal. Again, Togekiss twirled in the air, becoming a bit like a spin top. Her feathers turned razor sharp against the speed and air, and she steadily advanced at Machop. Machop didn't move. He allowed the feathers to penetrate his body. Blood leaked out of the wounds, and Machop dashed forward again.

Togekiss hissed as the strong fist slammed her across the head and against a large rock. Machop's hands were turning sore. Most of his training was not under stress, or at least simply a casual challenge. This time, it was battle or faint- or get captured. Togekiss then opened her mouth, releasing several pink bubbles at Machop. The Machop poked the bubble curiously, and yawned. What was that about not letting your guard down again...?

Joe watched as the Togekiss quickly zoomed in the air, he wings now began to glow white. She slashed the wings through the air, creating small white disks. The small white disk's smack Machop hard. A small amount of blood trickled down the body of Machop and onto the hard floor beneath him. He slowly got back onto his feet and dashed towards Togekiss.

Machop leaped into the air and connected his fist with her head. Togekiss slammed into the rocks beside Joe. Joe quickly ran over to Togekiss and raised her head. She smiled before getting up and setting off into the air. She produced a large pink cloud from her mouth and fired it towards Machop. Soon the small Machop gave a loud yawn. Joe knew it was time, He quickly grabbed a ParkBall from his belt and threw it towards Machop

Machop swayed slowly and his vision blurred. Snapping back to reality, Machop sees a red flash as Togekiss disappeared. Machop yawned and tried to keep his heavy eyelids open, but as Joe approached, it jumped back to avert him before sliding and banging its head against the ice floor. The moment Machop shut its eyes consciousness was grabbed away from it, and Machop snored away. Joe dropped a Park Ball over Machop, and as it shook, I noticed something eerie about this place. Something was watching. I turned my head before seeing something like a ghost in the snow.

The click of the ball didn't make me move. Joe noticed this and, picking up the ball, watched the dark shadow if the figure ahead. Its eyes flashed menacingly before appearing to move. "Should we... go forward...?" I said to Joe. The figure hummed somewhat, and I shuddered. The figure seemed to be reading our every movement, our breathing, perhaps. The figure was now standing instead of sitting, and staring at us eye to eye... if that flash of light was its eyes.

That was when the disk played. The figure looked around, startled, before regaining its calm and staring at us again. It seemed this Pokemon had a phobia of Riolu.

The eye's of Machop slowly began to close, and then the small fighting Pokemon gave another yawn. Now it is time. Joe quickly grabbed a Parkball and threw it towards Machop. A red aura quickly surrounded Machop before disappearing into the Parkball. It rolled around and around before stopping still on the cool white ice. A gust of the winter air blew from behind Joe. Something was up. He quickly turned around and looked at Timpeni. She seemed to be staring at something. A feint black silhouette in the distance seemed to just stand there.

"Should we... go forward...?" Timpeni said to Joe, breaking the silence. Joe nodded before slowly walking forward. The disk player slowly played, the silhouette quickly looked around before staring at the group. Joe slowly made his way forward....

 

The figure laughed. It wasn't afraid. Not anymore. The noise of the slowly descending snow must have distorted the sound of the disk, startling the figure. The Pokemon walked forward, and I saw the Riolu's nose peek out of the layer of snow that was embedded on its body. I looked at Joe, who smiled, the Riolu braced himself for battle. The smirk reminded me of something, but I could not just place my finger on it. But it was something good. I watched as the Riolu glinted and Joe's hand hover over his Pokeball. If he didn't want to battle this Riolu, I'd eat my tie. And currently, the only thing that has eaten my tie was a Camerupt at Mount Deckbi.

"Want to battle this Riolu?" I asked. Riolu closed its eyes and a strange sense pulsated from it- Aura? I didn't know. The Riolu was trying to control its own power, and this was what it considered a good practice session. The Riolu opened its eyes again, and the blue glow was less sinister than the orange glint from earlier on, perhaps from irregulated flows of energy.

A foggy mist started to appear, the cool air removed by a thick fog. The small silhouette began to chuckle under it's breath. Joe slowly moved his hand down towards his belt as a precaution if something got ugly. The soft snow gently floated down from the sky, almost invisible to the eye through the thick fog. The PokePlayer in Joe's hand began to play once more, the noise of the Riolu muffled through the cold winter's air. The noise seemed to grab the attention of the mysterious Pokemon. As Joe walked closer, he could see the feint outline of the Pokemon. However the bold red eyes of the Pokemon caught the eye of Joe. They seemed familiar to Joe however he still couldn't remember where.

A small rumble shock through the ground. It seemed like a mini earthquake, or even worse an avalanche. Joe quickly shielded himself by raising his hands above his head. The small Pokemon looked up at the cliff above him. A large pile of snow feel from the cliff onto the Pokemon. It quickly raised it's arms protecting it. Moments later, Joe looked up and quickly scanned the surroundings to see if the mystery Pokemon was still there. A small pile of snow lay where the Pokemon was standing. Joe was about the touch the snow pile before he noticed the red eyes of the Pokemon glaring at him. Joe suddenly remembered where he saw those red eyes, it was a day he never forget.

"Joe, your going to be late for school" shouted Joe's Mum from the bottom of the stairs. She slowly walked to the door and picked up a small lunchbox with a group of Pokemon branded on the front. A young boy, the age of 13, raced down the wooden stairs. He ran up to his Mum and snatched the lunch box and laid a kiss on her cheek. He opened the door and ran out towards the big yellow bus. Joe reached the doors of the bus and grabbed his Bus Pass from his bag before climbing onto the bus.

"Joe, I saved you a seat" said a young boy from the back of the bus. Beside him was a small yellow Pokemon, who seemed to be looking out of the window. The young boy grabbed Elekid and placed it on his lap. Joe slid past the young boy and sat down beside him. Jonathan Busby had been Joe's friend for long time and also they received there starters together. However Jonathan liked to be called Buzz. Joe grabbed his bag and picked a small red and white ball from his bag. He picked it up before summoning Chimchar. The small red Chimp sat on Joe's lap before looking over at Elekid. He raised his hand towards Elekid as a gesture of a hand shake. The small Electric Pokemon accepted and shook the Chimchar hand.


Half and Hour later the bus stopped in front of a tall building with a huge sign above the entrance reading 'Ranger High'. Ranger High had been built in order to teach young children about being a Pokemon Ranger and also taught children to look after Pokemon. This was to prepare them when they could become a Pokemon Ranger. Joe walked into the school and walked over to his locker. He opened the locker and place Chimchar's Pokeball in the locker. Rules were that Pokemon must be placed in a locker during lessons. As Joe slammed the locker, another friend stood there. His name was Jay.

"Hey Joe, ready for lesson. I sure am, I want to stick this spitball right down Billy's neck. That will show him not to mess with me" Said Jay as he practicing his karate moves. A young girl walked up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder.

"Oh Silly Otouto, You will never take down Billy, him and his Gliscor are the best in the school. He is so strong and smart, and has the best strategy with his Gliscor, remember what happened last week" replied Ivy. Ivy was also one of Joe's good friends and they had a lot of banter together. She was one of the smartest out of the group. Jay, or sometimes called Otouto, thinks to far forward and is very gullible. Joe smiled before walking through the doors into his class.

AS Ivy, Jay and Joe walked in Buzz, who was sitting right at the back, called out to them, "Guys, I saved you some seats" The group walked over to the reserved seats and sat down. Moments later, a tall middle aged man walked in and placed his suitcase on the desk. The light reflected off from a large black machine attached to his eye.

"Good Morning Mr Carter" chanted the rest of the class. Mr Charter smiled before turning around to the board. He grabbed a piece of chalk and began to write on the Blackboard. After he removed his hand the every face in the class changed. It had been a very long time since the Elite Ranger's had paid a visit, today was an exception. The door burst open and tall man walked through the door. The main feature about him was his tall Pink hair and a scale-skin scarf. He walked over to the desk and placed his bag next to Mr Carters. He raised his big hands to his mouth and produced a loud noise. It seemed like this was a sign to someone. A small blue Pokemon walked in through the door and leaped onto the desk. Joe looked across at Ivy and watched as she skimmed through the pages of her text book. Her finger landed on a Pokemon and she opened her jaw. Joe looked over at the Pokemon in the book and realized it was the same one.

Before Joe could look anymore Ivy shut the book and shouted out loud "Wow, A Riolu, They look so cute. I believe they are categorized as Intermediate and are a Fighting Type. They evolve..." Mr Carter gave Ivy a look as to say be quiet. Her cheeks grew red as the rest of the class look at her. The tall man at the desk laughed and announced "Yes that is true, As you may know I am Natsu Dragneel, however you can call me Sam. I am here today by request to show you how to look after a wild Pokemon. This Riolu isn't mine, it's belongs to the parks.

Ten minutes later, Sam began to call up each individual to see the Riolu and pet it. Joe sat right at the end of the last row so he knew he was going to be last. The Riolu looked pretty happy as it rubbed his head against the arms of Children. Jay walked up and stroked the head of Riolu. The face of Riolu dramatically changed and turned around and raised its right paw towards Jay. Sam quickly intervened and pulled Jay away from Riolu. The rest of the class began to giggle as Jay was being pulled back. It looked like the Riolu didn't like to be stroked that hard.

"Joe, It's your turn" Said Mr Carter as he ticked a name on his notepad. Joe walked up to the Riolu and looked at the small body. However there was one feature that stood out. It was the big red eyes. Joe was about to stroke the Riolu until a blue aura appeared from Joe's hand. The small ball glowed brighter as Joe got closer to the Riolu. The small Riolu gave a smirk before leaping of the table. Riolu wandered out side and waiting for Sam. Joe looked at Sam and noticed that he was speechless. The class room was silent and then suddenly Mr Carter said "Ummm I think that ends the class, everyone say Thank You to Mr Dragneel"

"Thank You Mr Dragneel" chanted the class before picking up there books and exiting the class. Joe was about to leave before Sam placed his hand on his shoulder. He opened his mouth and said "I Think you have found your Aura Guardian"


Joe walked closer to the pile of snow, when he noticed a large blue ball appear from his hand. He took a step back and noticed that the ball grew dimmer. He quickly began to run towards the snow pile, looking down at his hand. The large ball grew brighter as he walked closer to the snow pile. He stopped right before the snow pile and watched as a small black nose appeared from the snow. A few seconds later, the Pokemon cleared away the snow and stood in front of Joe. They both smiled as the ball on Joe's hand grew brighter.

"Looks like this is fate Riolu, I have been looking for you for 3 years. Look like I will wait no longer" Joe said as he removed a small red and white ball from his bag. He quickly chucked the ball into the air and a large Fire Monkey appeared in front of them. Romulus stretched his arms and began to propel his fist's through the cool air. The Riolu body began to glow blue as it was control it's Aura. Joe smiled looking down at the blue orb in his hand. Legend says that you will always have the Blue Orb until you and your Aura Guardian are together. I have waiting long enough

"Alright Romulus, lets start with Fire Ace. You know the drill, Use Fire Spin around yourself and then use Aerial Ace. Thus making Aerial Ace much more powerful. You can do it buddy" Joe said to Romulus. The Infernape nodded before begging to cloak himself in a flame.

 

The air around Romulus rose to such heights that it burned Riolu on contact. Not to mention the vicious Air Slash. Riolu was flung backwards viciously, his efforts to counterattack proving futile. The singed area of his body was actually and literally radiating heat. Both from the friction from Air Slash, Fire Spin's... well... fire... and Riolu's anger. Riolu focused before forcing all his energy into one palm. Bracing himself, he rushes forward, hopping onto several large rocks on the way to confuse Romulus. Finally... he jumped and landed into Romulus, narrowly missing his target due to Romulus's quick movements. But the Force Palm still sent the Infernape backwards.

"Er... well, he doesn't seem paralyzed."

"Alright Romulus, lets start with Fire Ace. You know the drill, Use Fire Spin around yourself and then use Aerial Ace. Thus making Aerial Ace much more powerful. You can do it buddy" Joe said to Romulus. The Infernape nodded before begging to cloak himself in a flame.

Joe watched as Romulus leaped into the air and tucked into a long drill shape and propelled through the air. After picking up some speed a bright red flame appeared around Romulus. It shrunk and began to spiral round the airborne Infernape. The speed of Romulus totally surprised the small Aura Pokemon and within seconds it crashed into it. Riolu body began slowing red, as it was radiating heat. Maybe this was from the friction of the ground as it was sent crashing against the cool ground, or when it was smacked by the sheer power of Infernape Fire Ace. It took a lot of practicing to finalize the move, the knocks and injuries. Joe remembered when it first happened, it was in a place not so far away.

Joe had been very happy after reaching a resting point in Mt. Deckbi. The day started when he noticed a familiar face walk up towards him. Jonathan Busby was his name, but Joe remembered him from Ranger School. Later in the day, Joe encountered a very timid Gliscor. It had been Joe's good nature to try and capture it and this is where the bond between Joe and his Romulus really shone. After trying to fire a blind Flamethrower, Joe was hesitant in his mind to try this daring move, after all it Romulus had barely been successful. However there was a small voice in the back of Joe's head telling him to try it, telling him that him that it's going to work. After Joe had ordered Infernape to try this difficult move, Romulus turned around and nodded, thinking that this time he can do it, with his trainer behind him all the way

Joe smiled at the red and white ball in his pocket. That Gliscor brought him and Romulus closer, they managed to master the Fire Ace. Joe quickly turned his head back to the battle and watched as the small Riolu stood up on his feet and raised it's right hand. The hand closed shut and began to glow. Riolu leaped into the air and landed on some rocks above Romulus. As the small Aura Pokemon leaped from rock to rock, the snow slowly drifted towards the ground. The Riolu leaped into the air and raised his fist as he was going to punch Romulus. As instinct, Romulus quickly jumped back and what looked like he dodged the attack. The Riolu however managed to land his fist on the lagging foot of Romulus.

Romulus turned around and glared at the Aura Pokemon. Riolu suddenly collapsed to ground. Joe quickly rushed over to the small Aura Pokemon and lifted it's head from the cold snow. He grabbed a small yellow spray can and sprayed it over the small Riolu. As the canister was nearly empty Joe placed it in his bag. The big black words on the canister read:

Calming Fragrance Plus​

The small Riolu slowly got back onto his feet and gave out a loud cry. Joe smiled as he could now practically hum the tune over and over again after listening to it.

"Alright Infernape listen up, I want you to leap into the air and land behind Riolu and use a very weak Scratch attack, I just want him to loose just a bit more health. I know that you are not showcasing your true strength but you will get a chance when we get back to mainland. Maybe you can finally beat Synthesis's Gym. Just now I want you to focus on not knocking it out, you got me?" Joe said to Infernape. Infernape turned around and nodded as he knew what he master wanted.

 

The soothing perfume. Ah. I loved it when my trainers used it. To be honest, I think the perfume worked as much on me as it does on Pokemon. I would love to sniff all of the perfumes at once to see which smelled better, but I would get stares- not to mention a large bill that I couldn't manage. But this was one perk of the job. For a while, all worries dissipate into nothing, and hope arises from the ashes, along with a world of uncomfortable yet welcoming bliss. I know I was weird to think of such things when an ordinary can of fragrance was sprayed, but... well, I'm a lonely girl in a lonely world. I have never thought of things systematically and 'correctly', living in my own past and future, trying to touch ground while airborne.

Riolu was in a similar trance for a while, and Romulus decided to close in. His claws sharpened, Riolu only noticed at the last few seconds. With a glare, the blue Aura user rushed forward. The claws scratched across his body, with only a minor scratch. However, that minor scratch was enough to motivate Riolu's want for victory. Leaping forward, Riolu simply passed over the Infernape with one swift kick off the ground. Stopping his fall and grabbing onto the fur on Romulus' neck, Riolu pulled itself up (and causing a bald patch on Romulus' neck) and leaped over again. This time, he kicked Romulus straight in the face before somersaulting back on the ground.

"That... was Reversal."

The perfume worked like a charm. Riolu started to sniff around in the air, like a small dog catching the smell of a bone dug underground. Now was the perfect time to strike.

"Alright Infernape listen up, I want you to leap into the air and land behind Riolu and use a very weak Scratch attack, I just want him to loose just a bit more health. I know that you are not showcasing your true strength but you will get a chance when we get back to mainland. Maybe you can finally beat Synthesis's Gym. Just now I want you to focus on not knocking it out, you got me?" Joe ordered his Infernape.

Infernape began to run towards the dazed Riolu and leaped into the air with his long claws striking out from his hand. Infernape dived through the air like a professional rugby player diving over the white line in the 79th minute, just about to score the winning try.

However just as Infernape was about to strike, the small Aura Pokemon quickly adjusted to the moment and quickly glanced up at the flying Infernape coming towards him. Within seconds Riolu quickly ran forwards trying to dodge the incoming attack. Infernape, whilst diving through the air, quickly acknowledged that Riolu had taken a step forward, let his weight fall to the floor and slashed his long sharp claws down Riolu's back. It didn't deal a lot of damage however but that was the whole plan, not to faint it.

Riolu quickly turned around and glared at Infernape. The red eye's suddenly turned blue. The aura around Riolu's body violently exploded causing a wave of Aura to smack Joe across the face. Those few seconds where the aura smacked against Joe's face, Joe suddenly had a flashback,


Joe walked out from the class room door and carefully shut the door. As he shut the door to the classroom, he walked towards his locker. After fiddling with the lock him Mom bought him, he opened his locker and grabbed the small red and white ball lying on the middle shelf. Joe began muttering some words to his Pokeball

"Some Day we will be the best Pokemon trainer in the world,
One day you and me will be the best partners in the world.
One...."

"Save us the crap Joe, you know you will never be the best. You are the weakest out of all of us" said a familiar voice. Joe quickly turned around and noticed Jay, Ivy and Buzz. Of course it was Buzz that said that comment, he always dose that. Ivy quickly jabbed him in the side and changed the subject.

"As you know next year we can become an official ranger like Mr. Carter and Sam. Think about it, we can see many different Pokemon, watch thrilling battles. I know what I want to be when I am older, a Pokemon Ranger"

"Yeah I hear that they have hot secretary's down at the Ranger's Front Desk. Mr. Carter has sometimes been accused with sleeping with some of them" Replied Buzz who quickly glanced over at Mr. Carter, who seemed to be on his mobile.

"Amen Buzz, that and the pay, I hear it's the best pay, even better than being a Referee...." Jay said before being briefly interrupted by Ivy.

"Silly Otouto, Rangers don't get paid a lot, in fact one of the worst paid jobs. However I want to be a ranger to see new people and learn about Pokemon in their natural environment"

"Ohh and the girls, especially Madison, I have seen pictures" Buzz said as he interrupted Ivy again. Ivy shook her hand in her arms; it was useful trying to get Buzz not thinking about girls.


Two years had past, it was graduation time. Only a certain amount of students passed and becoming a real Ranger. A tall old man slowly stumbled over to a notice board and removed a white piece of paper from his bag and placed it on the board. The list was up and now they had to wait till break to see the results.

Joe sat in his class twiddling his thumbs, nervous to see the result of his test. He glanced up at the clock hanging above the door. The long needle rested above the large black number 11. Five minutes. Joe looked across the room. He noticed that Ivy looked very confident, and she had good reason to. She started to revise for the test last year and practically knows everything. However Joe knew a topic that she wasn't so good in, Natures.

Jay on the other hand was completely different. His revision consisted of one hour before the exam and the frequent outburst of knowledge by Ivy. Jay didn't even looked bothered but deep down he knew that he had to get this job, for his father's sake.

Joe glanced over at Buzz and noticed that he was looking down at his phone. Well we obviously knew what his revision consisted of. He could practically describe every feature of Madison, even the size of her breasts. Joe often found him and Mr Carter sharing photos they found.


The bell rang above the blackboard. The whole class erupted from their seats and began to run towards the exit. Joe noticed that Ivy was squished in the crowd trying to reach the exit first. Joe smiled and joined the back of the queue. Joe watched each individual walk up to the board and their facial expression changed. Whether they passed or they failed. Joe walked up to the board and scanned down the list. He scanned down and noticed his name in bold writing. His face quickly lit up. He walked over to Ivy and asked whether she passed or not, however deep down Joe knew that she passed.

"Well, I got the best score in the year. I passed what about you?" Ivy asked with a huge smile above her face.

"I passed, it's all good. I wonder how Buzz and Jay went" Joe said. As Joe said that a huge cry was heard down the hall.

"Yesss" shouted the very happy student.

Joe smiled and watched as Buzz walked up to Joe and Ivy. "Guess who is going to see Madison every day, you guessed right Almighty Buzz" said Buzz who looked very happy, "Anyone heard about Jay?" Buzz asked.

Jay walked the up behind group and placed his hands on Ivy's shoulder, this causing Ivy to jump.

"Well I guess I am lucky, I just passed" Jay said as he wiped his forehead. Joe smiled and placed his certificate in his locker. Now he was a Pokemon Ranger.

Riolu looked pretty angry after being attacked by Infernape. Riolu began to run up to Infernape and leaped into the air. As Riolu was close to Infernape, he raised his right leg and made contact with Infernape right cheek. As Riolu was failing down, he grabbed hold onto the nearest thing. To Riolu's surprise, he grabbed hold of Infernape's white mane. After being pulled down to the floor by gravity, Riolu removed a large chunk of hair from Infernape's mane.

Riolu leaped over Infernape again, this time making contact with Infernape's left cheek. Riolu landed with no difficultly by landing with a somersault. Joe smiled and noticed that this Riolu is not one that gives up easy. Both Pokemon looked very tired at this point, with Riolu looking the more tired out of both.

"Alright Infernape, this time use Will-O-Wisp to burn the target. After you do this, it will give me a short amount of time to capture this Riolu. I need this move to work or else we will lose the chance. We don't want that do we?"

Infernape slowly tilted his head wondering what his master meant. Infernape wasn't the type who would use these sorts of moves and if he did they would normally fail. Joe slowly walked over to Infernape and placed his hand on his head.

"I know you can do this Infernape, remember the times we had. Remember when I caught you and protected you against the wild Gligar's? Remember when we caught our first Pokemon in the park against a Gliscor? I believe in you mate. You can do this. Just focus on the task so we can confirm that this Riolu is going to be ours."

Infernape raised his paw and interlocked it with Joe's. Joe smiled and watched as Infernape returned back to his original position. The battle was heating up now, however it was near the end. Soon the battle will be finished.

 

I saw Joe in concentrated thought before delving his hand into his bag. A Super Ball emerged, tight in the man's hands. He sweated, even though the heat of Romulus didn't even touch his skin in the frigid temperatures. I knew that people didn't just sweat because of heat. They sweat when they were nervous or overexerting themselves. I suppose, for this case, it was because Joe was nervous. After a few moments of awkward silence, Joe said words of encouragement to Romulus. He tried to mask his mounting anxiety through a smile, and his Pokemon nodded. It was a Will-o-Wisp that was commanded. To make the Riolu more prone to capture, this was what had to be done.

Romulus released a strange, blue flame from his mouth. I remembered the origin of the move's name. A long time ago, I lived in a rural area in which they weren't snazzy extremely long funeral respects. If you didn't starve your family for a few weeks to pay for a funeral before your death you were simply buried close to the top of the ground. No funeral service. You were forgotten because you didn't pay for the gravestone that came with the funeral service. You even had to share a grave. Sometimes, people trampled the ground with pigs when the bodies started to get exposed. Of course, when the pigs don't trample well, the resulting chemical reaction will cause a ghostly blue flame to burn due to the methane released from the bacteria eating the rotting corpse. The flame looked just like the one now chasing Riolu. When Riolu ran, the flame simply split in half and carried on at twice the speed. Riolu ran out of breathe soon, unlike the flames, and the moment he caught fire the ball was thrown.

Three shakes. One... two... three.

Joe smiled. I knew he wanted to leave now that he has gotten his Pokemon.
