"Oh man, I'm so bored," I said to myself. I had taken a short break away from here to go get some more important matters taken care of, but when I came back there was nothing to do. Most people were moving through the park slowly, so there wasn't many chances at taking someone through. Still though, I showed up day after day, and sat around waiting to see if I'd be needed in any way. Well all that waiting finally paid off.

I got message from Chainy asking me to take someone by the name of, Alex George Fisher through the park. I had no idea who this was, but hey work was work, and I was more than happy to take any work I could get. It seemed that this trip was going to be through the Botanic Gardens, which was fine by me. I had only been in there once, and the weather was always pleasant.

"Come on out Gardevoir, we've got a job to do," I said as I tossed its ball into the air.

Ah, so we've finally got work again? Gardevoir asked.

"Yup, and I'm looking forward to it. It's been a long time since we had any work, I just hope this won't end up like our last run with Saundra. Hopefully it'd be more like the time we took Akinai through the park," I said as I looked over at Gardevoir, who nodded.

With that I led Gardevoir outside, and waited. I figured I'd check up on Alex's info before we went out there. He was bringing along a Gengar, a Togekiss, and a Crobat, three good Pokemon to combat any Grass-types that might come his way. And I noticed he had a Cottonee Voice Disk, so I'd assume he wanted one. I had no idea what else he wanted though. The Gardens was home to many nice Normal, and Grass-type Pokemon, so there was plenty of rare, and powerful Pokemon for you to want. I guess I'd need to ask him once he got here, but for now there was nothing left to do now though besides sit, and wait.

The large empty yellow bus drove down the road. A young man sat at the back, peacefully listening to some classical music. His brown hair hung above his eye brows and his blue eyes gleamed in the sun. Then the bus halted and the driver announced, "Ok, here we are, National Park." The journey had taken them a long time and the underground train was delayed, but Alex had arrived and was ready to catch some Pokemon.

Alex exited the bus and walked towards the entrance. As he opened the doors, a fresh breath of air gusted towards him. It was obvious that even the Park HQ like to be cool. Alex walked up to the desk and looked down at a clipboard, lying face up. He noticed his name and place he was being collected. Normally this was done by the secretary, however it looked like she wasn't around. Alex made his way towards the back, knowing that his ranger would be there.

As he left the building, he noticed a ranger waiting by the fence and beside him was a Gardevoir. He walked up to the ranger and noticed that he was holding a file with Alex's name on it. Alex smiled and introduced himself, "Hi, the name is Alex Fisher. It seems that you're my ranger?"

Then the sound of a synthetic cry came from Alex's backpack. Alex had already started to play his Cottonee Disk, hoping that he would encounter one as soon as possible.

I heard a bus not too far in the distance, and that could only mean that it was nearly time to get started, as Alex was no doubt on said bus. I saw who I believed to be him, approaching from the distance. I was glad, because I didn't need to wait very long at all. "Hi, the name is Alex Fisher. It seems that you're my ranger?" he asked.

"Indeed I am. My name is Gary, and this is my Gardevoir. She's just one of the Pokemon who will be accompanying us, though you probably won't see any of the others unless we need them for something. I can hear the sound of your Cottonee Voice Disk playing already, so with any luck one will show up. Now let's get started," I said. I started to lead Alex into the Gardens. This place was just how I remembered. It was a nice open space, filled with various plants, and trees, as well as some vegetation. It was really a nature lovers paradise, or a great spot if you loved a peaceful spring day. There wasn't a whole lot of time to enjoy the scenery though, as a Pokemon already jumped out at us from behind a bush. Hard to believe that we barely took five steps into here before something showed up.

It was a white, somewhat circular Pokemon. At least half of its body was puffy, and the puff was no doubt cotton. It had oval shaped, wide orange eyes. It also had a leaf on each side of its body, where its arms would be. There wasn't really much to this Pokemon's looks, aside from it appearing like it was a little ball of cotton. It was a little Pokemon, that could evolve into something of true annoyance. Either way though it appeared as though Alex's Voice Disk had instantly worked in his favor. It was good to see people run into what they wanted.

"Well congrats Alex, seems your Voice Disk paid off. You can go at this thing whenever you're ready."

I can hear the sound of your Cottonee Voice Disk playing already, so with any luck one will show up. Now let's get started," Gary said to Alex.

Gary led Alex towards Botanic Gardens. From looking at a map, the Botanic Gardens weren’t that far away from the Ranger Headquarters itself. It was also his first time he was visiting the gardens, and it was his second time coming to the park; with the first one ending with Alex capturing an Abra and also a Kirlia. However Alex was only here for one reason, to capture some good grass Pokemon for his Contest Hall. Alex was the owner of Beach Rose City Contest Hall, and specified in Pokemon with the attribute Smart. As a trainer, he had some strong Ghost, Psychic and Poison Pokemon, however the grass side let him down in some of his battles, and he was coming to the Gardens to change that.

As they entered the Gardens, Alex was speechless by the sheer beauty and calmness of this land. The sun was shinning brightly and the wind casually passed by. People who love nature would love this place. Supposedly, in some places, people say you can actually hear your own thoughts, and so the Botanic Gardens was highlighted as the place to be when you want to think.

As we were casually walking along the path, Gary noticed something rustling in the bushes besides us. The synthetic cry appeared from Alex’s backpack again, hoping it would attract a Cottonee. Then the Pokemon hiding behind the bushes suddenly flew out. The Pokemon had a white circular base with two lightly darker clouds pinned to its face. It had two green leaves attached to the side of the white base. Alex’s smile suddenly grew and grew. He had been so lucky. Normally it would take a while for the Voice Disk to start working; however it looked like it worked straight away for Alex.

"Well congrats Alex, seems your Voice Disk paid off. You can go at this thing whenever you're ready." Gary added and then took a few steps back, giving Alex some space to think.

Alex started to wonder what Pokemon he would use against Cottonee. To give him some advice, Alex withdrew his PokeDex and scanned the Cottonee.

'Cottonee, the Cotton Puff Pokémon. Cottonee shoots cotton to distract its opponent when attacked, and travels around wherever the blowing wind carries it.'

    Interesting

Alex grabbed onto on of his Pokeballs and held it in his hand. He threw the ball towards the Cotton Puff Pokemon. The capsule exploded with white light escaping from everywhere and a large white Pokemon soared through the sky. It was Amor, his trusty Togekiss. Amor was a very physical Pokemon and loved to get stuck into a battle. The Togekiss soared through the air before hovering in front of Alex. Alex opened his mouth and commanded, “Togekiss, use Air Slash.”

IC: Alex pulled out his Pokedex, and looked up the info on this Cottonee. There wasn't a whole lot to know about Cottonee though. The only thing you really needed to watch out for was its hax. If it had the ability Prankster, than any non-damaging move it used would gain priority, and generally hit first. This meant moves like Encore, Swagger, Leech Seed, GrassWhistle, Stun Spore, and Switcheroo all became deadly things in a Cottonee's hands. While they clearly weren't holding items, Alex didn't need to fear Switcheroo, but those other moves could still cause trouble, so he would need to keep his guard up.

Alex grabbed on of his Pokeballs, and threw it in the air. From it emerged a Pokemon who could match Cottonee head on for hax if needed. It was a Pokemon, who like its pre-evovled forms, had an egg shaped body. It had triangle shaped wings, which made flying through the air a breeze. It had small red, and blue triangular spots on its underside, much like Togepi, and Togetic. It also had very small feet, which were relatively close together, making it hard for it to walk on the ground. Still despite this, Togekiss was seen as a rather graceful Pokemon, and a powerful one at that. Not only good it take a hit, but it could also dish out a powerful one as well. This was a good choice to face Cottonee.

“Togekiss, use Air Slash,” Alex commanded. Air Slash was a signature attack of Togekiss, along with Tri-Attack. This was mostly because with Serene Grace at its side, Air Slash would have a sixty percent change of causing a flinch. Air Slash was about controlling the air. The user would use its wings, or its body to create a surge of wind in the sky, and use it to slash at the opponent like a blade. If you ever saw the attack once, you could see why it could prevent you from attacking. A strong blast of wind like that is more than enough to keep anything down for a few moments. Togekiss started to spin its body around, and you could see energy forming around it. This was one time when you could actually see the air, due to the Pokemon who used the attack's energy being infused with it. As the attack grew, the realization that Cottonee was in trouble sunk in for it.

In an attempt to counteract this, Cottonee began to form its own attack. It started to draw in power from all the lush greens around it, and turned that pure energy into a ball. Normally this attack would be formed from inside the users body, but since we were in an area full of plant life, the attack could be created from nature itself. The ball itself was green in color, but in the innards were small bits of golden energy. I had no idea what the small energy balls inside were, but I always had one theory. Energy Ball did have a chance at lowering the opponents Special Defense, so I always believed that it had something to do with that, but I was never sure. Togekiss, and Cottonee simultaneously finished preparing their attacks.

Cottonee fired first, shooting its Energy Ball at Togekiss. Togekiss released its energy, which slashed away, though not exactly as Alex wanted. The slashes hit the Energy Ball at first, causing the ball to split, and have some remaining parts of hit slap into Togekiss, while the wind from Air Slash that wasn't expended in the clash with Energy Ball blew Cottonee to the ground. Togekiss wasn't hurt too bad, and well neither was Cottonee due to its little stunt, but I highly doubted such a trick from Cottonee would work a second time.

“Togekiss, use Air Slash,” Alex commanded.

Togekiss chirped out loud and took off into the air. Once in the air, Togekiss started to spin around, generating energy. She opened her wings and started to spin faster, producing more energy. The energy spiralled it way around Togekiss, looking like a tornado had consumed Togekiss. Cottonee watched on and started to show signs of nervousness. Cottonee had to react fast because if it didn’t, it would feel the full force of an Air Slash; something every Grass Pokemon fear.

Cottonee started to gather up energy as well, however in a different way. Cottonee started to glow light green, building up the energy inside of her. From a distance she looked like a green light bulb ready to burst. Alex had a small hunch what Cottonee was using. From judging by the change in colour, and that her leaves where tucked in; Alex assumed that Cottonee was going to use Energy Ball, a special Grass Attack which lowers opponents Special Defence. It was a very powerful, yet common, Grass attack.

Both Pokemon were ready and Togekiss started to slash through the swirling visible energy around her. The movement of her wins broke up the chains of energy and sent them directly towards Cottonee. Cottonee hoped that her attack could try and stop the attack. She opened her mouth and released the energy inside of her. She spat energy out, forming into a small ball during the process. Then she sent the light green orb flying towards Togekiss, hoping it would break up the attack. However the boomerang-like wind surges sliced the orb into small pieces, nullifying the attack. Some of the debris collided into Togekiss, however seconds later Togekiss shrugged the attack off. The power of the wind slashes had decreased, due to the splitting of the Energy Ball, however it still had a lot of punch still left in it. The wind slashes collided into Cottonee, sending her in the ground. Cottonee managed to get back up and back into the sky.

Alex was impressed how strong this Cottonee was. It would make a vital partner for his team. Both Pokemon looked down at each other, assessing what has just happened. Alex looked up at Amor and shouted, “Amor, you’re doing brilliant. Next I want you to use Yawn followed by Extreemespeed,”

Amor chirped out loud again and started to inhale air from the sky. Alex watched on, hoping his plan would work.

Alex seemed to be a little impressed by the way Cottonee battled. I couldn't blame him, I mean using an Energy Ball to counter Air Slash was pretty smart. Still though the little creature was outmatched, and it'd take more than a little quick thinking on its part to be able to overcome the challenge in front of it. Likewise though, Alex would need to do some thinking of his own, so that Cottonee couldn't throw some crippling move at Togekiss. This was certainly going to be interesting to watch, to say the least. That was of course provided that it didn't turn into a stallfest. Only time could tell that one though.

“Amor, you’re doing brilliant. Next I want you to use Yawn followed by Extreemespeed,” Alex commanded. He intended to try to get Cottonee to fall asleep, making it easier to capture, however the little cotton ball was still pretty fresh, so I had my doubts that this would work just yet. Togekiss let out a loud Yawn, but Cottonee didn't want to hear any of that. Yawn was a move that would have the Pokemon using it yawn, and it would make the opposing Pokemon. During their next move the opposing Pokemon would fall asleep. Cottonee in retaliation made some noise of its own. It used a song like attack, to not only drown out the Yawn, but deal some damage as well. It was using Round. Round was an attack better used in a duo, since it would do more damage that way, but the annoying sound from it here was working just fine enough alone. I guess no Pokemon were really musical talents. I remember getting a text recently from my friend Eric who was over at Mount Oktori, and said that a Scraggy there used the same move against his Scizor.

In using Round though, Cottonee left itself vulnerable to Togekiss' next attack. While Cottonee was using Round, even though Togekiss had been taking some damage from the move, it had been busy building up speed. This speed was to ensure its attack not only connected, but hit before Cottonee could do a thing about it. Once Togekiss had enough speed, it launched itself at Cottonee. It was using Extremespeed. This was like a stronger version of Quick Attack. Not only damage wise, but speedwise too, as it would generally strike before other moves. Togekiss moved at a blinding pace, and smacked its head right against Cottonee's entire body, sending it flying back a few feet. Togekiss got in a really good hit, and managed to avoid being hurt by more of Round in the process. Cottonee got back up, though it was moving a little slower now. Cottonee wasn't beaten yet, but if Alex could keep this pace up, then he could capture it in no time. Since Yawn didn't work, I was curious to see Alex's next choice of action.

“Amor, you’re doing brilliant. Next I want you to use Yawn followed by Extreemespeed,” Alex encouraged.

Although Alex didn’t want to tell Amor this, however he had a slight worry ticking away in the back of his head. Back at school, he was taught that it was best to use a status inflicting move when the Pokemon is weak, not when it has a lot of energy. Alex had a small worry that the move Yawn would not work against Cottonee, at this very moment. However Togekiss was very surprising and could pull off the move.

Togekiss started to inhale some air, filling up like a balloon. Then once she was ready, she exhaled the air outwards, forming a small pink cloud. The pink cloud slowly plodded its way towards Cottonee. As Alex had expected, Cottonee retaliated and started to create some noises of its own, trying to drain out the power of yawn. Round vibrated through the air, creating a small wind which carried the small pink cloud off course.

This Cottonee was causing a lot of hassle and Alex hadn’t even started his expedition yet. What if there were over Pokemon as strong and as resistant to Cottonee. Alex started to ignore these questions and focused on the task at hand. After Cottonee had used Round, it had become very open. Togekiss bolted like a bullet down towards Cottonee. It was surprising for Alex how quick Togekiss was compared to when he first started to train her. Togekiss sped towards Cottonee, clashing into the Grass Pokemon at a blistering speed. Extreemespeed was a move like Quick Attack, however a lot more powerful and a lot quicker. Cottonee crashed into the ground from the attack, however quickly got back up.

Togekiss pivoted around and flew towards her original position, in front of Alex. Alex outstretched his hand and started to ruffle her hair. He said, “Doing well so far, keep it up.” Togekiss chirped again and spread out her wings. Alex took a few steps back and shouted towards Togekiss, “Alright, looks like your ready. Togekiss started to generate a gust by flapping your wings. In the PokeDex it mentioned that it travels around wherever the wind takes it. Create a sort of small wind tornado, which can trap Cottonee. Then use Air Slash once again.”

Alex hoped Togekiss would get the first part right. All she had to do was create a lot of different wind currents so that it would trap the Cottonee in a spiral of wind currents, one taking it one way, the other taking it another way. The rest was straight forward from there.

    OOC: GENDER?

Alex seemed annoyed by Cottonee's actions, but it was a Cottonee, and they were well known tricksters. Add in the fact that Cottonee didn't have many moves outside of Grass-type moves, so it didn't have much of anything that could really hit a Togekiss. Albeit annoying, Cottonee was probably just doing whatever it could to defend itself. This wasn't the first time I had seen something like this though. I remember back a few months ago I had taken a trainer to Mount Deckbi, and he had encountered a Druddigon. Well, before even dealing much damage he attempted to have his Gallade use a Thunder Wave. Druddigon was still very fresh though, and wasn't going to fall for such a tactic. It actually ended up using Roar to send the attack flying away. When a Pokemon wanted to be, and had the strength, it could be very crafty. This case was no different, so I was curious to see if Alex could keep his cool or not.

“Alright, looks like your ready. Create a sort of small wind tornado, which can trap Cottonee. Then use Air Slash once again,” Alex commanded. This, was actually a pretty good idea. By creating the tornado Cottonee would be trapped, and at the mercy of Togekiss' attack. Also since Cottonee wouldn't know Hurricane until it evolved into Whimsicott I couldn't really think of any way that it could counter this. I actually felt a little bad for the poor creature, but you couldn't capture something without doing some damage to it.

Togekiss began to flap its wings. The gusts coming from its wings mixed together with the natural breeze that in the air. In this process a small vortex was created, and the faster that Togekiss flapped its wings, the bigger it grew. Cottonee looked like it tried to brace itself, but there was nothing it could do to get ready for this. Togekiss fired the tornado at Cottonee, and while it did nothing more than trap Cottonee, and spin it around in the center, it left it vulnerable to an attack. Togekiss then, like before, spun around in place, generating energy. It then took this energy, and slashed away at the sky. It defused the tornado in the process of slashing, and got a good shot in on Cottonee, sending the Pokemon from floating in midair, to crashing into the ground. It collided head on, and was slow to get up, though now you could see it was the angry one this time.

It jumped at Togekiss, and latched onto its back. Togekiss tried to shake the critter off, but there was no getting passed its determination, even if it was hanging on for dear life. Cottonee opened up its mouth, and sunk its teeth into Togekiss. This caused to Togekiss to wince in pain, and quit trying to get Cottonee off of it for a moment. A green light had started to emit from the two Pokemon. Cottonee was using one of the Drain attacks, though I couldn't tell which one since they looked alike, but if I had to guess it was Giga Drain since that was the strongest. This attack may not have been the most damaging, but still when something bites down on you like that its bound to hurt. After a few moments though Togekiss had enough, and flipped its body over, causing Cottonee to be sent back down as a result. Cottonee may not have drained much energy, and it was relatively weak now, but it seemed to succeed in angering Togekiss.

    OCC: Wow sorry, Female

“Alright, looks like your ready. Create a sort of small wind tornado, which can trap Cottonee. Then use Air Slash once again,” Alex commanded.

Togekiss chirped and started to rapidly flap her wings. All of a sudden, a cool breeze appeared from now where. The generated wind suddenly started to cause a lot of problems for Cottonee. Cottonee was trapped in the wind current and was being hurled around in the air. Togekiss started to quickly generate a lot of energy, in the exact same way as before. The grey like energy started to swirl around Togekiss. Then when she was ready, Togekiss started to slash down at the energy. The energy was forced outwards, forming into a small boomerang shape. The boomerang shape spiralled towards the trapped Cottonee. The energy sliced into Cottonee, sending the Grass Pokemon crashing into the ground.

It looked like Cottonee had taken some direct damage, it must have hurt. Cottonee slowly got back and hovered back into the battle field. Cottonee, unexpectedly, leaped towards Togekiss, landing on her back. Togekiss tried to shrug off the small Grass Pokemon, however Cottonee had a plan to silence Togekiss. Cottonee sank her teeth into the back of Togekiss. Togekiss shrieked out with pain, trying to shake the Cotton Pokemon off. If Alex had to guess what move Cottonee used, he would have guessed it was Giga Drain, since it was the most powerful. Togekiss had enough and flipped onto her back, sending Cottonee sliding off. Cottonee had sapped some health from Togekiss, however it still looked tired. If it had stayed on for longer, you would wonder what would have happened.

“Togekiss, now that Cottonee is tired, use Yawn followed by Extreemespeed.” Alex shouted to Togekiss. He removed a small Park Ball from his rucksack and held it in his hand. If both moves had hit, he would simply throw the Park Ball, hoping to capture the Cottonee. If the Yawn had missed, he would save the ball. Alex watched as Togekiss started to inhale air again, ready to try again.

OOC: It's cool, you decided before it was caught so no harm done.

IC: “Togekiss, now that Cottonee is tired, use Yawn followed by Extreemespeed,” Alex commanded. It was the same command he had given earlier, only now there was a good chance it would work better seeing as how Cottonee was a lot weaker than before. Had Cottonee used something like Protect though it could have blocked the oncoming Yawn, or Extremespeed, but I wasn't sure if it was going to think of that or not. I also wasn't even sure if this Cottonee had the strength, or wherewithal to do anything. I guess though that all I could do now is watch and see what happens.

Togekiss calmed itself a little, and seemed as though it could focus. It then spit out a pink bubble after yawning rather loudly. Cottonee was still reeling from smacking into the ground, and it now had zero chance to get out of the way. There was nothing for it to do, but to fall asleep. It was out cold now, but that wasn't all of Alex's plan. Togekiss went hurdling at it like it had done before, and slammed against Cottonee's body, although with a bit more force than needed really, and sent it flying back into the ground. Cottonee didn't even have the chance to get an attack off, it was totally defenseless this time around. This was Alex's chance to take the situation into his own hands.

He took out an ordinary Park Ball, which by all means should have been enough to use in this situation, and threw it at Cottonee. The ball sucked in the little fluffball, and hit the ground. Between being hurt, and being asleep there was essentially no fight coming from it to break out of the ball. Alex had succeeded in capturing the one thing I knew he wanted from here. So I needed to wonder if that was actually all he had wanted, or if he was looking for other things too. I guess there was no harm in asking.

"Well, congratulations Alex," I said as I walked over to the freshly caught Cottonee's ball. "The only Pokemon I knew you wanted was a Cottonee, so are you looking for anything else in particular? Also, any time you're ready we can continue you on," I asked, and added on. I surely hoped that he wasn't just here for Cottonee, but if that was the case then I'd still escort him out of the park with his Cottonee.

“Togekiss, now that Cottonee is tired, use Yawn followed by Extreemespeed,” Alex commanded.

Togekiss started to suck in air, inhaling like a balloon again. Alex hoped that it worked, this Cottonee looked tired and looked like it wouldn’t be able to avoid the attack, Then once she was ready, she exhaled the air outwards, forming a small pink cloud. The pink cloud slowly plodded its way towards Cottonee. The pink cloud dissolved into Cottonee, making the Grass Pokemon rather tired. Alex then watched as Togekiss swooped down from the sky and smash into Cottonee. Everything was going to plan now. He held his ball in his hand and threw it towards Cottonee. The ball burst open and Cottonee was sucked inside. The capsule closed and rolled around on the floor.

Then it halted and a quiet click was heard. "Well, congratulations Alex," Gary said as he walked over towards the ball and picked it up, “The only Pokemon I knew you wanted was a Cottonee, so are you looking for anything else in particular? Also, any time you're ready we can continue you on," He asked.

“I’m also looking for a Shroomish, Minccino, Petilli, Buneary, Swablu, Skitty and maybe a Miltank or a Kangaskhan,” Alex said, hoping he didn’t ramble on. “Oh and also I am ready,” Alex said. He still kept his Park Disk playing; maybe he would have more luck finding another Cottonee. Work on the street is that can be traded for some very rare Pokemon.

“I’m also looking for a Shroomish, Minccino, Petilli, Buneary, Swablu, Skitty and maybe a Miltank or a Kangaskhan,” Alex said, in answer to my question. There was a decent possibility that he could very well encounter any of those Pokemon. The first six weren't all the rare in face, and even quite a few Miltank have also been seen leaving the park, so who knew, anything was possible. We'd just need to look around, and see what would come our way.

“Oh and also I am ready,” Alex said, as he kept playing his Pokeplayer. I was sure he had no interest in owning two Whimsicott when the time came, but Whimsicott were generally sought after by many people due to their ability. Maybe the disk would work, and maybe it wouldn't. It had already worked once, so it wasn't impossible. Only time could tell if another little ball of cotton would show up or not.

Since I knew Alex was ready, I continued to lead him, well rather started to lead him since we only got a few steps in, through the gardens. We passed through some wide area of greens. You couldn't look around without seeing some trees, or bushes. That was also a little troublesome though, since Pokemon could be hiding in one of those areas, but you may not know about it without looking into each specific tree, or whatnot. That wasn't good since we could be here for a long time if we did that. Fortunately though this time around such a thing was unneeded, since a Pokemon came up from the grass it was in. It was so small that it went undetected to me in the grass.

It's a good thing that this thing showed up like that, or someone here could have stepped on it," Gardevoir said to me.

Yeah, no kidding. We got lucky there. We'll have to be more careful in the future.

In addition to it being small, the reason we didn't notice this Pokemon was because it resembled a tiny plant. It was little bulb with feet, though you didn't notice the feet unless you stared at the bottom of its body. It was blue in color, with beady red eyes, but it had five green leaves growing out of its head, with the top of the center one bending backwards. Without specifically noticing what it was it would really just look like a plant at first glace.

Alex followed Gary and his Gardevoir away from the ground, where he battled Cottonee. We continued to walk until we reach a large grassy area. The sun was out and the wind was blowing gently. Walking into a field is not a very good idea. The fields were usually surrounded by trees or bushes, each probably having some Pokemon living inside it. However this wasn’t the case here and a Wild Pokemon appeared from the ground beside our feet.

Its blue base body and large plant like hair disguised itself from the other prey around the facility. Gary said to Alex, "It wasn't one of the Pokemon you mentioned, but do you have any interest in an Oddish, Alex?"

Alex looked down at the Oddish and replied, “I am sorry, but I’ll pass.”

Alex looked over at Oddish, but he didn't particularly seemed pleased with it. I couldn't blame him that much to be honest, I mean both of Oddish's final evolved forms, Bellossom, and Vileplume weren't all that good in the least bit. Most people would only even go after one to fill in the pages in their Pokedex, and then they'd try to ditch the things. Can't say I'm shocked, neither of those two really had any stats worth the trouble.

“I am sorry, but I’ll pass,” Alex said, while looking at Oddish. That wasn't surprising, I could tell when we came across it that he had zero interest in it. He didn't have any Pokedolls on hand though, so hopefully we could get around the little guy without it giving us any trouble. I waved to Alex for us to attempt to go around it, and continue on to see if we could find anything he wanted.

"Well, where do you think we should go next? We can head over to the right into the area of trees, or to the left in the open plains its all really your..." I was saying, before I was cutoff by a faint roar coming from Oddish. It wasn't letting out much of a roar, but it did make it a point to get right on our way anytime we tried to go around the thing. And if we tried to really make a run for it, then it looked like it would have attacked us to keep us around.

Boy, this thing really seems like it wants your guys attention, doesn't it? Gardevoir said.

Yeah, but Alex doesn't want one. I don't think it can really force itself into Alex's collection. Especially since he doesn't have many Pokeballs to spare.

"Well, this Oddish doesn't seem like it's ready to say goodbye just yet. What will you do now Alex?"

Alex turned around and faced the Oddish, who by now looked very angry by the fact that they tried to ignore her. Gary said "Well, this Oddish doesn't seem like it's ready to say goodbye just yet. What will you do now Alex?"

Alex replied, “Lets go again, and hope this Oddish leaves us alone.”

Alex looked somewhat annoyed that this Oddish was getting in our way. Two Pokemon in so far, and bother gave him some sort of trouble. Still though he was able to keep a clear head, and not just blindly go ahead and attack this thing. Gotta say that was pretty good, otherwise this Oddish could have given him some real trouble. This didn't mean we were out of the water just yet though, Alex may have wanted to hang around and battle this thing now, or it could have kept us from attempting to escape again.

“Lets go again, and hope this Oddish leaves us alone,” Alex said. He was still hopeful that we could get around this without any trouble. It never hurt to try at least, so I figured we could attempt this again. I led Alex right around Oddish, only this time it let us go along our way. If I had to guess it just wanted a little company, or wanted to play or something. It didn't matter now though, because it was behind us, and there wasn't any going back to it.

We continued along the grassy plains, and I kept my eyes peeled for anything that might be coming our way. I hadn't really seen anything though, not until we came across a few bushes. One of them had been rattling, so I went over to investigate. I shook the outside of it, which startled whatever was hiding on the inside of it. From it came out a little fungus looking, mushroom-like Pokemon. It was small, and its color essentially green, and peach. It had green spots on its upper half, but otherwise that area was peach in color, while their underside was green in color, with short legs. The look on its face always appeared to be serious, and never seemed to change no matter what. When it evolved it wasn't the greatest Pokemon, due to its speed, and quadruple weakness to Flying-type attack, but when used correctly it was very powerful, and very deadly.

“Lets go again, and hope this Oddish leaves us alone,” Alex said.

Alex looked down at the Oddish, feeling somewhat sad for the Grass Pokemon. From past experiences, he had realized that some Wild Pokemon quickly generated emotions for trainers. He remembered once this stubborn little Poocheyenna. It took 3 attempts to try and escape, but you could guess all the Pokemon wanted was recognition and love. Alex turned around and walked in the opposite direction.

Gary and Alex continued to walk across the field, keeping an eye out for any Pokemon. Alex had always wondered what it was like to be a Ranger. Sometimes he thought it was fun, exploring each zone of the Park, finding new Pokemon, and encountering legendary Pokemon. However it did have some drawbacks, being away from your loved ones (if you had any), having the burden of a trainer and if something goes wrong you are responsible, the awkward moment when you’re exploring the area and there is no Pokemon around. Nevertheless, Alex had always aspired to become a Ranger, ever since he met Joe Smith, a former Ranger of the Park.

After walking around the field, Gary noticed rustling in the bushes ahead. Intrigued, Gary and Alex walked towards the bush, hoping it was a Pokemon. To their satisfaction, they were correct. From the bush appeared a small fungus looking Pokemon. Alex noticed a range of different patterns of spots scattered across the peach like top. Then underneath was a small green body with two stump like legs. Alex took a step back and realized what that Pokemon was.

"Well, it's a Shroomish, Alex. I recall you saying you wanted one, correct?"

Indeed, Alex had wished for a Shroomish for a long time. They were masters of a special move called ‘Spore’ which grants the user 100% accuracy to induce sleep upon its opponent. When they evolve, they also become part fighting, which is an advantage and also a disadvantage. Alex looked down at his belt and removed a small capsule. He held the capsule in his hand and threw it onto the ground. A white flash appeared and seconds after it dimmed, a purple bat appeared on the scene. It was Crobat, one of his trusty companions. Alex decided to use Crobat because it was part Poison. Shroomish were renowned for there buildup of poisonous powders, inducing poison upon its opponent. Crobat was immune to Poison and therefore a perfect counter. Crobat showed off its speed by rocketing through the air. By this point Shroomish and come of the bush and was ready to fight.

Alex removed his Pokedex and scanned the Shroomish. Shroomish, the Mushroom Pokémon. Shroomish is mild tempered and inhabits piles of rotting leaves inside of forests.

“Ok, Crobat, I want you to start off by using Wing Attack,” Alex commanded Corbat.

Alex wanted to see how Shroomish would react first, and then devising a plan from there on in. This was a common tactic in how Alex would approach a battle.

As he expressed earlier, Alex had interest in this Shroomish. I wasn't particularly sure as to why he wanted one though. It's typing gave it some nice STAB, but it also gave it some painful weaknesses, add that with its poor speed, and then you'd see why Breloom isn't the best. Of course though it did have other uses, namely the same as a Whimsicott, hax. Breloom was capable of using the move Spore, a move that would always cause the opposing Pokemon to fall asleep, and had better accuracy, due to its range of coverage, over other sleep inducing moves. Not to mention that any abilities a Breloom had were useful. It could have Effect Spore, which had a chance of inflicting Paralysis, Poison, or Sleep on the foe when it was hit by a Contact move. Poison Heal, which would heal you by one eighth of your maximum health while you were Poisoned, rather than damage you. And lastly Technician which would boost a weaker moves power by fifty percent. That meant moves like Low Sweep, Bullet Seed, and Mach Punch all were boosted. I guess when I took this into consideration I could see why he wanted one.

Alex opted to use his Crobat here, which was a pretty wise idea. Crobat was part Flying, part Poison, and therefore both of its STAB types hit Shroomish pretty hard. Not to mention that Crobat couldn't be Poisoned, so that took part of, well most of when you remember Crobat's typing, its moves, and made them mostly useless. Of course this didn't mean anything though. Shroomish still had some deadly moves it could use, I was just hoping it wouldn't show any of those hax moves here, or there could be trouble.

“Ok, Crobat, I want you to start off by using Wing Attack,” Alex commanded. It was simple enough really, just a single command to get things rolling was always a good way to begin a battle. Wing Attack was just your most basic Flying-type attack. The user would smack the opponent with their wings. If this Shroomish happened to have Effect Spore for its ability, then it could end up inflicting a status on Crobat, and if that happened so soon, well it'd be needless to say that Shroomish would have a distinct advantage.

Crobat waved its wings around to build up some energy in then, and it flew off at Shroomish. Just before it could make contact with Shroomish though, the little mushroom launched itself in the air at Crobat, and collided head first with one of Crobat's wings. Shroomish had used Headbutt, and used it right into Crobat's Wing Attack. In doing this Shroomish not only managed to cause a bit of damage, but it also protected itself from some damage too. After the attack Shroomish landed on its feet on the ground, showing very little fatigue, while Crobat flew back into the air, and blew on its wing a little. While it wasn't really damaged any damage to a sensitive area such as a wing, or something would cause you some discomfort.

“Ok, Crobat, I want you to start off by using Wing Attack,” Alex Commanded.

Crobat agreed and took off into the sky. Once it was up in the sky, Crobat looked down at the small Mushroom Pokemon. Then Crobat gently started to flap his wings, producing a small breeze. Shroomish however had another idea and threw his body towards the Crobat. The Shroomish flew through the air and targeted one of Crobat’s wings. Having noticed this, Crobat started to flap his wings more violently, the gentle breeze suddenly transformed into a blistering gale. Shroomish had luckily managed to make contact with the wing of Crobat. Alex watched this strange tactic used by Shroomish. Alex wondered if Shroomish was that crazy to jump into an attack, which is super effective and to think it would have a better outcome. As Shroomish collided with one of the wings of Crobat, the gale slowly died down. Shroomish landed onto the ground without much hassle. Alex quickly glanced up at Crobat and wondered if that collision would be costly later in the battle.

Alex looked forward and started to analyse the Shroomish. It was a Grass type, so Flying, Grass, Bug and Fire types were super effective. Crobat however only knew flying attacks, so the attacks will be very direct and easy to guess. Alex had an idea to try and confuse the Shroomish. If he used Cross Poison, maybe Shroomish would let Crobat get close, at the last second change attack and hit Shroomish directly. It was a risky choice, what if Shroomish decided to avoid the attack straight away. It was a risk Alex was willing to take.

“Crobat, I want you to use Cross Poison, get as close as you can and then use teddy bear instead,” Alex shouted to Crobat.

If Alex had listened to that command he would have been very confused.

    Use Teddy Bear?

Before Alex had come to the Park, he started to rename some attacks with an abstract name. He did this because wild Pokemon listen to your attacks and already know what is going to happen. In this case, Teddy Bear stands for Air Slash. Hopefully Crobat has learnt the phrases over the last couple of days or Alex would be screwed.
