"Well, let's hope I still remember how to do this," I mumbled to the feeble Pokemon beside me. Happiny chuckled before hopping around excitedly. She was definitely excited for this was her first time entering the Park, and as a ranger's Pokemon especially. Even though she knew very little moves, her kind-hearted and jolly nature easily opens her up to the wild Pokemon living inside the Park and she makes friends easily with them.

I looked at the data that was sent to me on my phone and realized that the trainer I will be taking through the Park today was someone named 'Chris'. What a weird name! Well not really, I've knew this guy since a long time ago, but he's a noob in the Park.

The extra information stated that this would be a speed run too, so I figured that we should make things as fast as possible, with minimal delays. I placed my phone back into my small camera bag which I had slung on myself. At the same time, I picked out two sweets that I had in it - blackcurrant and strawberry flavor each, and gave the blackcurrant one to Happiny. She unwrapped the wrapper quickly and threw it into her mouth, chewing onto it happily.

"Now, now, he should be reaching any minute soon," I told Happiny, as I stood at the outpost of Botanic Gardens to wait for Chris to arrive. The Botanic Gardens was hot and humid as always, which was why I am extremely tired of this place in the Park. Well, not only because of the weather I guess. I have been to this place for so many times that I have lost count. Hopefully, the weather will get cooler within the next few hours or so while we are in the Park. Even a short windy breeze would suffice.

“Time for a new adventure,” I said to myself. “I cannot wait to go through the Botanical Gardens again. I remember when I captured a Snorlax here many years ago!” I walked slowly towards the gate and saw two figures in the distance. My Ranger was standing with a small Pokemon beside him and they were both chewing sweets.

“I wonder who my Ranger will be this time,” I said, and brushed up some dust off of my blue trousers. “I hope we can do this run through the Gardens fast because I have a busy schedule!” I walked slowly towards the gate. I noticed a Happiny was chewing on a sweet. It looked so cute. They had such a great bond. I looked up at my Ranger and noticed it was an old childhood friend, Ataro.

“Hello Ataro,” I said. “I see you are still a short ass these days. I mean, let’s go!” I waved and smiled to my Ranger. I stamped the ground with my brown trainers and was ready to go. The weather around me was very hot and humid; therefore I left my jumper in my backpack. I was ready and waited.

“Lead the way Ranger,” I said with a smile.

“Hello Ataro,” a familiar voice rang behind me. I turned around and noticed that my trainer cum childhood friend had arrived. “I see you are still a short ass these days. I mean, let’s go!”

He then waved and smiled promptly to me, before asking me to lead the way. "Wow bitch, shut up. What a nerd," I scolded him back. For that insult, I am going to make his life hard in the Park. What audacity!

The available routes were pretty clear to us for now. The current gravel pathway were surrounded by all types of flowers with different varieties and species on both sides, so we could only walk straight forward for now. "So Chris, I've noticed that you brought a Pokeplayer and a Voice Disk along with you, perhaps you would like to activate it now? Or would you like to wait till later? If you want to activate it now, you should probably push the disk in and press 'Play'," I explained briefly.

Meanwhile, Happiny was walking beside me cheerfully, taking small but quick steps with her tiny round feet. It suddenly occurred to me that my trainer was entering the Park with none of his Pokemon out of the ball - not that this was wrong. Though, it was usually a pattern with trainers to have a Pokemon out on the field walking along with them, since it's always more exciting when you're doing this with a Pokemon by your side. But more importantly, it allows you to enter a battle quickly and is generally just more efficient with captures. Chris could probably have his reasons for doing so however.

Before Chris could reply, a bird-like Pokemon flew out from the nearby bushes on the right abruptly and blocked our path. It squawked a weak growl, as if to announce its arrival, and I couldn't help but rolled my eyes. "Well, that's our first encounter. Nothing fascinating unfortunately, I don't suppose you would want a Starly?" I asked.

As I waved, and waited for Ataro to lead the way through the hot, Botanical Gardens. He promptly replied to me. “Wow bitch, shut up. What a nerd.” I was not surprised. We had a love-hate relationship going on. I guess this would make this run much more fun than previous adventures!

“I love you too,” I replied with thumbs up. I watched as my Ranger was planning the routes, which seemed clear to us now. I noticed that the pathway was covered with beautiful looking flowers. Perhaps my Ranger should find a girlfriend with a bunch of these flowers! ;)

“So Chris, I’ve noticed that you brought a Pokeplayer and a Voice Disk along with you, perhaps you would like to activate it now? Or would you like to wait till later? If you activate it now, you should probably push the disk in and press ‘play,” Ataro explained briefly. I did wonder to myself, why in Mt.Deckbi my Ranger Ivy never mentioned how the Pokeplayer worked.

“Erm, there is a slight problem with that smart ass,” I said to Ataro. “It’s a Drillbur Disc, therefore will not work. Thanks for letting me know though, you cuddly boy. “I noticed his Happing cheerfully walking by his side. I preferred to allow my Pokemon to sleep until they are ready. Especially Cryogonal, it can sometimes wake up on the wrong side of the bed!!

Suddenly, I saw a Bird Pokemon fly out of the nearby bushes and landed in front of us. The squawking sounds it made me jump a little.. small bird ok. Ataro rolled his eyes and said. “Well, that’s our first encounter. Nothing fascinating unfortunately, I don’t suppose you want a Starly?”

I laughed to myself for a moment. “OF COURSE NOT LAUGH OUT LOUD,” I shouted. “I shall prepare for a Pokedoll if we cannot just kick it out of the way and walk on.”

"Erm, there is a slight problem with that smart ass,” Chris replied. “It’s a Drillbur Disc, therefore will not work. Thanks for letting me know though, you cuddly boy."

I could barely mouth a Oh..., but I decided to just shut my mouth. What a stupid mistake. "OF COURSE NOT LAUGH OUT LOUD," he replied all of a sudden, as if to finally announce that he has finally taken notice of the Starly. And ... to the whole world with his voice that was equivalent to a loudspeaker.

"I shall prepare for a Pokedoll if we cannot just kick it out of the way and walk on," he said, as he passed me a dollar bill of $500. I started to think about how rude can my trainer get, when he just stated point blank that he was going to throw a Pokedoll, WHEN HE DIDN'T HAVE ONE. He did not even ask me if I had a spare one and decided to shuffle the cash into my hands. Regardless, I sighed, and dug out one of the weirdly-shaped Pokedolls from my camera bag.

All rangers always carried some sort of supplies with them, because there are times like these when the trainer forgets to bring Pokedolls with them and needs it. Then, being the money grubber our head ranger is, she would obviously want us to earn extra money for the Park through whatever possible means, which usually means taking money from dumb trainers.

Just as I passed Chris the Pokedoll, the Starly decided to fly away instead. "Well, Starly is as uninterested in you as you are in it. Just keep the Pokedoll for now you 'tard, you will need it later," I said while managing a chuckle.

I continued to bring him forward the path as we reached a branched diversion ahead. Times like these, I would usually ask my trainer which path would he prefer to take. On the left, there was barely any walking space with the tall grass reaching heights up to our chest level. It could also mean there might be more Pokemon hiding within the grass which made encountering Pokemon a bit more exciting. On the right however, was a more open route with large land area, coupled with the occasional oak trees and I could see that there was a very small pond far ahead there as well.

"Well, there's two paths here! You can choose if you would prefer to enter the one on the left with the tall grass, or the one on the right with ..." I paused, unsure of what to describe the route on the right with a word or two. "... uh, open field with random trees?"

Just as I had finished my statement, I was interrupted immediately by yet another Pokemon. This time, it was a relatively newly discovered Pokemon named Stoutland, and it barked, or should I say whimper, at us gently, as if to beg for Chris to capture it. "You should probably decide if you want to capture this Pokemon first, before you decide on your route of choice."

I looked down at Happiny while waiting for his reply, she was clearly much more excited with the option on the right, for she was looking in the right direction and hopping up and down nonstop. She sure was lively. Though, it was most probably because of the ticklish feeling the tall grass would create as it brushes again us when we are trying to traverse through it. However, if a trainer is smart enough, he would actually make use of a certain Hidden Machine to shorten the tall grass. That would not only make it much easier to walk through, but possibly discover rare Pokemon that are hiding within.

As I waited for Ataro to let me buy a Pokedoll for later… I watched as he dug through his handbag for a Pokedoll. He seemed pretty annoyed I had none in my inventory. Perhaps I should have prepared for the adventure more cleverly. I guess as a Ranger who was all prepared for anything these days.

Ataro passed me the Pokedoll and the Starly flew away. “Well, Starly is as uninterested in you as you are in it. Just keep the Pokedoll for now you ‘tard, you will need it later,” my Ranger said and chuckled.

“Perhaps he is saying my run has a lot of Pokemon I do want,” I thought to myself. I followed as Ataro took my forward on a path that branched to a diversion. I wondered, which way to choose. I glazed over to the left path and noticed hardly any space to walk on it. Tall grass had grown high to chest level. Perhaps more Pokemon hide in the tall grass. It could become more exciting. On the right I noticed the large area with lots of oak trees. I looked further and saw a small pond.

“Well, there are two paths here! You can choose if you would prefer to enter the one on the left with the tall grass, or the one on the right with…” Ataro paused and stuttered for a moment. “…uh, open field with random trees?” Suddenly, a Stoutland had whimpered gentle at us. It came up to me and begged for me to capture it.

“You should probably decide if you want to capture this Pokemon first, before you decide on your route of choice.” Ataro said. I thought to myself, I should pass on this one.

“Let’s move on,” I said. “I would like to try and runaway, however I will hold my Poke doll in my hand. Just in case!” I then thought to myself, perhaps after I escape, I could take the tall grass route but destroy the grass without using the move Cut. I thought to myself, I need a plan.

I grabbed a Pokeball from my pocket and tossed it in front of me. It shafted out crimson light. “Cryogonal, lend my your strength, go.” My Cryogonal appeared. My shiny, icy hexagonal mirror appeared and levitated in a circle. It seemed pretty content, however with an aggressive looking face, I knew instinctively when it was happy.

    “Cryo,” Cryogonal said.

“Right Cryogonal, I would like you to use your Icy Wind carefully on that tall, green grass over there,” I asked, with a smile. “Use Icy Wind to make the grass to go on one side, which would allow me, and Ataro to walk through it easily.” Cryogonal nodded, and prepared the attack…

"Let’s move on," he replied. "I would like to try and runaway, however I will hold my Poke doll in my hand. Just in case!"

The Stoutland whimpered a weak growl again, as Chris tried to run away ... by staying still and grabbing a PokeBall. Stoutland was obviously not fascinated with the trainer's nonchalant reply and decided to strut off angrily instead. As my trainer grabbed a PokeBall and tossed it, the crimson light transformed into a Ice-type Pokemon named Crygonal.

"Right Cryogonal, I would like you to use your Icy Wind carefully on that tall, green grass over there," Chris said. "Use Icy Wind to make the grass to go on one side, which would allow me, and Ataro to walk through it easily."

The crystallization Pokemon obeyed its trainer's command by nodding its somewhat rigid heat, and released a blast of blue wind from its mouth. In fact, I couldn't even tell if that was its mouth, but it was shaped like a Cloyster basically. As the blast of blue wind spread out over a parallel direction through the tall grass, the cold particles that was present in the attack easily merged with the wind that was produced along with it, creating a direction of breeze which separated a path through the tall grass.

The effect of the temperature was evident quick enough as well, for the sides of the new pathway that was created, had the tips of the tall grass slightly frozen with a neptune blue color to it. Just as we had started walking on the new pathway, we were stopped by a cactus-like Pokemon, whom had bounced its way out from the tall grass beside us. Its usual crooked smile was replaced with an angry frown - the Maractus was definitely frustrated at the sudden change of environment and temperature, and it was not pleased at all.

"That's a cool looking Maractus. Interested in it?"

Happiny meanwhile, started rubbing the egg in her pouch - probably trying to get some generated heat from the friction. Still, I knew that she didn't mind the coldness for it was definitely a welcome change from the usual hot and humid weather.

    OOC; Maractus Male

I wanted to move on away from Stoutland. I had my Poke doll in my hand just in case we could not escape. I watched carefully as the Stoutland whimpered a weak growl again as I tried to run away. The massive, puppy was not fascinated and moved on angrily. I was not going to lie, but Stoutland was better off staying here.

I awaited my commands to Cryogonal to use Icy Wind on the tall grass area. My crystallization Pokemon nodded and eagerly blasted a cold, blue wind. The oceanic-like wind flushed in the direction of the tall grass. The cold particles of ice separated the tall, murky grass. Therefore, I and Ataro could easily walk through it. Icy Wind was effective, and worked well, better than Hidden Machine Cut could ever do! The temperature had made the grass have icy tips, which had frozen with a light-blue colour on it. Ataro then lured me through the new pathway, which had been created.

“There we go,” I said. “Good work Cryogonal.” I smiled and gave it thumbs up. I watched as Cryogonal levitated around behind us. I was so proud of my icy, crystallization Pokemon because it never let me down! Suddenly, we had been stopped by a cactus-like Pokemon, whom had bounced out of the tall, murky grass beside us. Maractus had a distorted angry frown and very frustrated with me. The environment change and temperature seemed to have made it displeased.

“That’s a cool looking Maractus. Interested in it?” Ataro said to me with an innocent face. I noticed meanwhile, Ataro’s Happiny innocently rubbing its egg in her pouch. I thought it was cute, and showed traits of its trainer.

“I am sorry Maractus, I shall attempt to capture you,” I said with a gentle voice. “GO, CRYOGONAL!” Cryogonal quickly hovered through the top of the grass in front of us. It levitated around in a circle viciously. The cactus-like Pokemon had large ear-like extensions. These extensions feature dark green spiky arrangements. At the base of Maractus, I noticed yellow spikes with flowers and pink petals, at the top. The creepy, grass Pokemon had a yellow spike on its head, and had yellow eyes. This Pokemon was covered in spikes. The Maractus had other dark-green spiky arrangements decorate its neck.

“Hmm, I wonder what surprises this Grass-Type had in store for us,” I said to Cryogonal. “Cryogonal let’s go!” Cryogonal nodded quickly and became vicious in the direction of the grumpy Maractus. I was hoping Ataro was inspired by mine and Cryogonal’s friendship because it reminded him of his relationship with his Pokemon. Especially his Normal-Type Pokemon. They were the don. My crystallization, light-blue, icy mirror awaited my commands. I watched carefully as the angry Maractus glared at my Cryogonal. I needed to think fast of a strategy and capture the spiky, cactus creature.

“Cryogonal, use an Ice Beam attack,” I said, and shouted. I pointed at the emerald coloured creature. “I want you to direct a cold blast towards the base of that Maractus!” I had hoped the Ice Beam would strike down and slow down that spikey, cactus Pokemon! Cryogonal’s favourite move was Ice Beam, and therefore I thought this would be the best idea.

“Cryogonal, once you’ve landed a cold blast of Ice Beam on your target, Maractus,” I said, and shouted. “I would like you to use Confuse Ray!” Cryogonal levitated quickly in a circle around Maractus.

“We will make it confused before it tries anything nasty or tries to run through the rest of the tall grass,” I shouted to Cryogonal with passion. Cryogonal agreed to the routine.

I remember back in the day when Cryogonal took down an Espeon in a Free For All. Cryogonal had powered up with a Substitute and used Reflect to protect itself from damaging moves. The Crystallization Pokemon took down many opponents within that match, such as; Dragonite, Salamence, Drapion, Venusaur, and then Espeon. The icy Pokemon had used Ice Beam to blast down most of the Dragonite and Salamence because they were quadruple weak to Ice-Typed moves.

Then the finally of the free for all was when Cryogonal versus Espeon. It came down to a 1 move each to win the giant battle. My icy, mirror was up against a Hidden Power Fire, Espeon, which could blast down Cryogonal within a few hits easily! The only move my icy, crystallization Pokemon could do was Sheer Cold. The sheer coldness of this attack would freeze the Espeon in a cold mountainous block ice and Knock it out instantly. Sheer Cold had many risks and was deadly if it had hit. Luckily for me, Cryogonal had tried its best and won with Sheer Cold! I was so pleased and happy for my Cryogonal because that was its first important battle!

“Good memories, eh Cryogonal,” I said with a smile to my Ice-Type Pokemon. After the giant battle, I treated Cryogonal to ones of its favourite meals. Surprisingly a McDonald’s burger… We would get a lot of strange looks going through the drive through together whilst Cryogonal was fastened in the passenger seat with a seatbelt. I was not allowed to put on the heating because my crystallization Pokemon hated hot air on its icy, mirror body.

"Hey Ataro," I said, and waved. "Your Happiny is such a cutie and you two are lovely <3"

"I am sorry Maractus, I shall attempt to capture you," my trainer said with a most bizarre gentle voice. "Hmm, I wonder what surprises this Grass-Type had in store for us," he said, briefly pausing. "Cryogonal let’s go!"

Chris decided to enter battle with his Cryogonal whom was already out on the field. The Maractus was still staring at Cryogonal fiercely, this battle was not going to be easy. I watched along as Chris ordered his Pokemon to use an Ice Beam attack. It was a very generic and simple move command, but that was actually the best way to battle with a Modest-natured Cryogonal. He ordered a very specific spot to hit - the base of the Maractus. The trainer didn't wait for any chances however, and quickly ordered a follow up attack of Confuse Ray once Ice Beam has been launched.

As the Cryogonal opened its mouth to launch an Ice Beam attack, the Maractus's frown turned to a devious smile. He seemed to be plotting something, and indeed something was happening. The Ice Beam attack took a while to fire and travel across the field, and the Maractus was taking advantage of the very minimal time difference to produce what seemed to be tiny puffs of cotton. Within seconds however, the seemingly tiny puffs of cotton enlarged as if huge amount of wind was being pumped into them. The Ice Beam attack made contact and struck the wall of cotton that served as a barrier for the Maractus and instantly froze up due to the material of that attack.

The barrier was not completely foolproof however, for the tips of the cotton had froze up into spiky ice tips and it seemed to have damaged Maractus a little. He quickly moved out of the way, gaining some space in between the frozen puff of cotton that had fallen onto the ground and himself.

Chris shouted something to encourage his Pokemon and something to me, but I was not really concentrating on them, for Maractus was already getting to its second move. He seemed to have stood still to take on the full brunt of Confuse Ray which was in the form of floating balls of wisps. But no. Suddenly, the nearby ice that froze up the tips of the tall grass was starting to melt. This was the same with the huge frozen balls of cotton puff that was on the ground. All of these produced large puddles of water. The weather was getting increasingly blistering as well, with the sun shining very brightly in the middle of the afternoon.

As the wisps started to strike Maractus, he quickly glowed a brief white before exploding multiple array of flashing missiles from the spikes on his body. He was a little too slow however, for Cryogonal possessed the upper hand in terms of speed. The wisps infused with Maractus' body and it started to swing around uncontrollably. The missiles in the air started to shake and quiver around unstably. It seemed as if Maractus was trying to fight the confusion and control the attack with all his might, but the missiles didn't seem to listen.

Suddenly, the missiles gained a sudden boost and blasted towards the Cryogonal whom was taken aback by the sudden attack and took the brunt of the Pin Missile attack. Still, it didn't did nearly as much to Cryogonal than the earlier Ice Beam on Maractus, considering type advantages. Meanwhile, Maractus was still swinging uncontrollably while giggling to himself. He was definitely confused. And bizarre.

Maractus glared at Cryogonal fiercely because we disturbed its habitat with an Icy Wind attack. I waited for Cryogonal to use a cold Ice Beam attack. I had ordered my crystallization mirror Pokemon to aim for a specific spot on Maractus, which was the base of the spiny creature. I had also ordered Cryogonal to use Confuse Ray, after an Ice Beam had landed, and hoped this would effectively. Ice-Type moves worked better on a Grass-Type Pokemon, like Maractus because it was weaker to these types of attacks. In contrast to Ice Beam, I could of used a different move, however would not have been affective to the emerald-like cactus creature. Cryogonal could attempt Solarbeam or Hidden Power. However, these moves would not be that powerful. Besides, my crystallization Pokemon preferred Ice-typed moves because it was more comfortable with them. I watched as it levitated in a circle for a moment across the tall grass. I waited for it to use the combination of moves before I got too excited. I smiled for a moment and watched the wonders of Pokemon.

Cryogonal opened its black mouth to launch an Ice Beam attack. I watched as Maractus’ frown turned into a cheeky smile. Perhaps it was plotting something and I was worried what. Pokemon could be cheeky and devious, like the Maractus I am battling. I glazed over at Cryogonal preparing the attack. The Ice Beam seemed to take a while to fire across the tall grass field. Suddenly, Maractus had made tiny puffs of cotton within seconds enlarged massively. A huge wind puffed them and the cold Ice Beam attack blasted the cotton wall, and shielded the emerald creature. They instantly froze up due to the attack’s elements. I dropped my mouth and was shocked.

“What a clever and creative technique,” I said, with amazement. However, the cotton froze up from Ice Beam and damaged the Maractus a little due to the icy damage on its spikes. I watched carefully as the Maractus jumped out of the way, and gained some space in between the iced over puff balls. The puff balls had fallen onto the ground and Maractus. It did not escape that much. Luckily it had caused some damage else it was a wasted attack by Cryogonal.

I had shouted to encourage my crystallization, icy creature and to my ranger. However, Ataro did not seem to be concentrating on me. Maractus on the other hand was already plotting its second move. I watched as the Grass-Type cactus Pokemon stood up and took a full brunt of Cryogonal’s Confuse Ray. Balls of orbs consumed the Maractus and made it slightly confused... Luckily, for me and Cryogonal our strategy kind of worked. Even though it was not as effective as normal, I was still proud of the hard work it had done. Suddenly, I noticed the ice that froze up on the tall grass was starting to de-solidify off the tips. Large puddles of water started to form on the bushy grass and the hot weather started to increase. I thought to myself, that the sun weather was not good for my Cryogonal’s Ice-Type moves, however perhaps a Solarbeam might be affective too. I wiped the sweat of my forehead and was starting to get tired. The sunlight always made me feel sleepy compared to the other weather effects.

The orbs of the Confuse Ray had struck Maractus, however I noticed it was plotting a counter attack. I shrieked as I watched sharp spikes from its emerald coloured body torpedo out like missiles. Cryogonal was faster than Maractus, and had the Confuse Ray land quicker. I laughed to myself at the crazy cactus, creature swinging around uncontrollably. I had noticed the missiles it shot into the hot air started to shake. Maractus seemed to be trying to fight its confusion with the attack. The artilleries had rocked viciously within the airs current. The cactus Pokemon tried to control them but could not.

Suddenly, Cryogonal was blasted by the missiles of spikes. My icy mirror Pokemon was taken aback by the sudden attack. Pin Missile was a vicious attack that could hurt my Ice-Type Pokemon, and it did. Cryogonal seemed to be okay, however Maractus took more damage from the Ice Beam it had launched at it earlier. Maractus was swinging around and giggling to itself. It reminded me a little of my Ranger when he had too many popsicles on the weekend.
“Alright Cryogonal,” I shouted, and waved. “I hope you are in top form still.” I smiled and had hoped my encouragement made the creature happier. Cryogonal seemed to be pleased when I always gave it some kind of energy. Now I needed to decide a strategy for this round. I looked around and saw the puddles of water everywhere, which had created a new path. I looked up into the bright-cloudy sky and felt the bright sunlight. Perhaps Ice-Type moves were not great in this kind of weather.

“Cryogonal, let’s take advantage of the sunlight, use your Solarbeam,” I shouted, and clenched my fist. “Make sure you hit Maractus directly before it attempts to dodge it.” I thought a strong blast could work here because Ice-Type moves would do less in strong sunlight. Besides, even it would land it would do less damage.

“If Solarbeam is successful,” I said to Cryogonal. “Let’s use a Slash attack on the centre of its body.” I had planned to directly attack it due to weather being not so great. I could have sent in Solrock; however Grass-Type moves are not great against my sunny rock Pokemon. Alas, let’s see how this plays out!

"Alright Cryogonal," my trainer shouted and waved to his Pokemon. "I hope you are in top form still."

After the encouragement, he decided to call for a SolarBeam attack, which he probably decided it would be better to take advantage of the strong sunlight that was present. Although brute force sometimes proved stronger, I was still quite sure that Ice Beam would do more damage since it was used by an Ice-type Pokemon after all, and it was super effective too. But maybe Chris was too anxious and worried about the weather and his Cryogonal.

He decided to call for another Slash right after SolarBeam, this time focusing the attack on the centre of Maractus' body. I had to give him credit for being observant on the areas of targeting that he always guided his Pokemon with. Maractus had many spikes on his body and probably have the ability to reduce the amount of damage felt by using the spikes to cushion any attacks. By focusing an attack on Maractus' belly where no spikes are present, it might actually negate the effects of the spikes cushioning the damage.

As the beam attack was released from Cryogonal's mouth, Maractus was still swinging wildly due to his confused state. The confusion status not only impaired his ability to move quickly, but had the chances of disrupting him from attacking as well. At present, the former seemed to have been the issue and the SolarBeam struck Maractus as he winced in pain. As if provoked instead, the Maractus started giggling even more and flickered briefly in a yellow glow before disappearing suddenly.

I couldn't really tell what was going on but from its previous position, it was suddenly moving across the field with incredible speed, so much so that it all appeared to be as a blur. Without any warning, Maractus suddenly appeared right in front of Cryogonal, and the spikes on its hand glowed white and it pummeled his foe with a swing of his right arm.

Cryogonal cried out loud in pain as he received a direct Needle Arm attack, hurting both from the spikes and the force of it. I knew that Cryogonal was particularly weak to physical attacks as well and that attack had probably did more than it should. Still, the Cryogonal proved to be well-trained as he recovered fast enough from the pain and recalled his trainer's command. The ice crystals on his body glowed in a flash and he forced himself onto Maractus' belly, using what seemed to be a Slash attack ... without arms.

Usually, Slash wouldn't do that much damage, but perhaps because Cryogonal was provoked and launched a direct hit right onto Maractus' weak spot, the attack seemed to have doubled in strength and Maractus was immediately thrown all the way back from where he came.

The wild Pokemon had fallen onto the ground and was struggling to get back up. While still struggling, he flickered the same white flash as before and disappeared before appearing in the air, seemingly jumping at a very fast speed. Both of the Maractus' ear had spun together and the flower tips expanded to reveal a bright yellow flash. Within milliseconds, the SolarBeam was fired and it went straight for Cryogonal's mouth, or should I say innards. The attack seemed to have been weakened slightly with Maractus' low health, but at the same time struck Cryogonal at a weak spot as well. It seemed to be that Maractus was not aiming for a weak spot on purpose however, he seemed to be simply enjoying making a fool out of the trainer's Pokemon.

"Hmm, judging by the speed and technique of the battle, I would say a capture wouldn't be far away now," I advised. Maractus was starting to get tired from the repeated attacks and I wouldn't be surprised if Chris was going for a capture anytime soon.

The sun shone brightly above me and around me the small puddles of water, glistened with excitement from the sun. I was more interested in the battle, then the environment around me. I was watching and instructing my Cryogonal through the battle with Maractus. The cheeky Grass Pokemon who was quite angry we Icy winded its home and made it cold. Maractus had attacked us viciously from the start and boy did we know about its strengths. I needed to capture it soon before it got too deadly on my Cryogonal. I watched as my crystallization mirror contently levitated around like usual. It had noticed Ataro’s small, ickle Happiny playing by itself. It was so cute! Like Ataro, also cute!
After my encouragement to Cryogonal, I awaited it to take advantage of the sunlight, which beamed above it. This would have been a better option for me compared to an Ice Beam attack. In my opinion the sunlight melts Ice-Type moves and would make it less damaging on Maractus. However, even a Same Type Attack Bonus Ice Beam would still do a little less from Cryogonal. I worried too much sometimes, and needed to see if I could capture Maractus shortly. If the attack was successful I planned Cryogonal to use Slash on the centre on Maractus’ smooth body. This was so my crystallization mirror would not take sharp dagger like counters from the spines.

I watched and observed my Ranger Ataro. It seemed like the cute Ranger had been giving me a smile for being observant of the areas on the target Pokemon. I always found Pokemon’s anatomy interesting. I mean spiky Pokemon such as Maractus, Cacnea, Cacturne may not have Iron Barbs, or Rough Skin abilities, but they sure had some sharp spikes around them. Similarly, I liked to act careful with my Pokemon’s abilities and strengths. Targeting the wrong areas could lead to devastating effects on my Pokemon roster.
As I commanded the Solarbeam, I watched as my crystallization ice creature opened its black, sharp mouth. Suddenly, the emerald coloured Maractus started swinging wildly in a confused state. I watched as it quickly moved in a weird way in the direction of Cryogonal. Cryogonal’s large yellow, illuminated blast shafted at Maractus. The emerald, spikey creature winced in pain. Suddenly, it was provoked and started giggling even more and it flickered with a yellow glow… then is disappeared. The Maractus suddenly darted across the field at an incredible speed, as fast lightning. Cryogonal watched and struggled to keep up. I was worried that Maractus was going to move around too fast in sunlight that it would eventually knock out my Cryogonal. My icy crystallization is too precious to me to be fainted so easily. I had known it was Chlorophyll’s abilities on Maractus. It would be able to move twice as fast within sunlight.

“Clever Maractus,” I said, and smiled. “Makes me want to capture you even more!” I smiled some more and was hoping my strategy this time would eventually capture it. The spikey Maractus unexpectedly appeared in front of my levitating ice creature and its spikes from its green emerald hand glowed white. Suddenly, Maractus pummelled my Cryogonal with a swing of its right arm. I watched in worry as my Pokemon was taking damage. It was a direct Needle Arm attack. Cryogonal shrieked in pain and I was worried myself.

“Cryogonal, are you okay!?” I shouted with worry. I knew my icy mirror was weaker against physical attacks and I noticed it left a bigger mark than it should. I watched as my Cryogonal shook off the pain for a moment and quickly dashed as Maractus. The crystallization creature forced itself at the Maractus’ body. Its icy crystals sliced the belly area with its sharp corners. Luckily for Cryogonal, the icy mirror took a direct slice and did quite a lot of damage. Maractus was thrown back all the way and was launched across the grass. The wild Pokemon fallen onto the grassy ground and I watched as it struggled to get back up. I watched as Maractus shrugged to get back up. It flickered with a bright light and warped quickly in the air. Its fast speed made it spin around elegantly in the light and I watched as its flower tips expanded.

“Watch out,” I said to Cryogonal. Cryogonal was unaware and took a massive bright flash of light. The Solarbeam attack struck my crystallization creature’s mouth. It struck back my Cryogonal. My creature suddenly moved back around and awaited my commands.

“Hmm, judging by the speed and technique of the battle, I would say capture wouldn’t be far away now,” Ataro advised me. I could attempt capture after my next attack.

“Cryogonal, use Ice Beam,” I shouted. “It may be a weaker move but I need you to use it directly. Not too harsh now.” I reached my pocket for a Park Ball and prepared it. I was waiting for the right moment to toss it after the Ice Beam attack.

"Cryogonal, use Ice Beam," shouted Chris. "It may be a weaker move but I need you to use it directly. Not too harsh now." As he gave out a hopeful final command, he reached into his pocket at the same time for a Park Ball and held onto it.

The Maractus though being fast, was obviously quite worn out from the intense battle that he had just went through. Without wasting much time, Cryogonal obeyed its trainer's command and fired another Ice Beam from its mouth. The attack struck Maractus face flat and he didn't seem to attack Cryogonal anymore. Regardless, Chris followed up by promptly throwing his Park Ball in an Ash Ketchum position. What a wannabe.

The ball flew towards the Maractus and a familiar red light emerged from within to suck Maractus in. Once Maractus had been enveloped in, the ball closed shut and dropped back onto the ground, shaking only once before sealing in shut completely. "Wow, that's a very successful capture! It didn't even try to escape!" I said, as I walked over to keep the Park Ball temporarily for my trainer.

As I placed the minimized Park Ball into my bag, I looked over back to Happiny, whom I noticed was already starting to move forward by herself. She sure wasn't going to stay at a place that was so wrecked up. I led my trainer forward through the tall grass. We were in fact almost nearing the end of this patch of grass, when the tall grass on our right started to rustle. A Pokemon that walked elegantly with all four paws greeted us gently - a pristine and beautiful Leafeon.

"Would you be interested in a Leafeon perhaps?"

I watched as my Cryogonal’s Ice Beam was fred from its mouth and struck the spiny, cactus to the ground. Then, I threw like Ash Ketchum at the Maractus. I watched as it struck it in the face flat. The red light emerged and sucked it in. The ball closed shut, and dropped to the ground. It shook once and sealed shut completely.

“Wow, that’s a very successful capture! It didn’t even try to escape!” Ataro said as he walked over and picked up the ball. I noticed he had placed the ball in his Park Bag. His Happiny started moving forward and wasn’t sure about the area we was currently in. Ataro took me through the tall grass and almost at the end… A Pokemon elegantly walked out on four pours.

“Would you be interested in a Leafeon perhaps?” Ataro said. I took a glance at Leafeon.
“Let’s pass on this one,” I said. “I’ll have my Poke Doll ready just In case we do not escape. Once we escape, Cryogonal you should use Recover!”

My trainer had decided to pass on. We tried to walk past the Leafeon who continually stared at us, but it merely took a roundabout to stand right in front of us again. "Looks like you have to use your PokeDoll this time," I advised, as my trainer tossed his PokeDoll towards the Leafeon. The wild Pokemon hopped to catch it in its mouth and started to chew onto the PokeDoll as it walked away back into the tall grass.

Right after that, Cryogonal quickly obeyed its trainer's command and started to use Recover. Small green orbs started to appear around Cryogonal and as it absorbed them, the small cuts and slashes on the Cryogonal started to disappear.

We finally managed to walk out into some clearing and our surroundings was again made out of beautiful flowers and oak trees. The sun was getting covered by clouds and windy breezes were starting to happen every now and then. As we continued walking forward down a plain field, there are a couple of Pokemon grazing by the fields filled with countless flowers. There were plenty of Grass- and Normal-type Pokemon and most of them didn't seem to pay much attention to us.

... or not. One of the Miltank started getting irritated at our presence, and stood up to stare at us. It had started to call out in a growling voice. Without warning suddenly, a flying Pokemon had sliced through the air in between me and my trainer. Aerial Ace. I watched as the Pokemon reappeared in front of us, and started squawking repeatedly at us. "Looks like we're gonna have a crowd. First up, want a Chatot?"

I decided to move on from Leafeon. Hopefully I would not have to use a Poke Doll, however sometimes it could not be helped. Ataro tried to lead me away. Suddenly, Leafeon stood right in front of us. I was kind of not surprised.

“Looks like you have to use your Pokedoll this time,” Ataro advised. I tossed the Pokedoll in the direction of Leafeon. I watched as it hopped up to catch and chewed it in its mouth. Leafeon casually walked away into the emerald-like grass and left us to it.

“Phew,” I said. My Cryogonal quickly used its Recover. I noticed small green orbs materialize around my icy mirror, and it absorbed them. It was like a miracle, when Recover had worked. Its small cuts and slashes started to disappear from Cryogonal. I watched as my crystallization mirror levitated in a circle, quite content.
Ataro walked us away and into a clearing. Beautiful flowers gleamed in the sunlight and glistening the oak trees. Then, the sun was becoming clouded by clouds. A windy breeze started to flow around us. Ataro led us on forward down a plain field. I noticed a few Pokemon munching on grass ahead. There were many Grass and Normal-Type Pokemon. Ataro seemed to take me past them because they were not bothered by our presence.

“This is relaxing,” I said quietly to myself. Suddenly, a giant cow appeared and seemed irritated by our presence. I noticed as it stood up and glared at us. The growling sounds it was making echoed through my ears. Unexpectedly, the air was sliced and Miltank was cut in front of by another Pokemon. What could have that been? I thought to myself.

“What is that?” I said. Cryogonal levitated slowly behind me and was surprised too. Ataro glanced over to me for a moment.

“Looks like we’re gonna have a crowd. First up, want a Chatot?” He said. I would personally not want a Chatot I thought.

“Let’s move on from Chatot,” I said to Ataro. “I will ready my money for a Poke Doll, and then use it if we cannot escape so easily.” I reached for my money from my pocket and handed it towards Ataro.

“Let’s move on from Chatot,” he told me. “I will ready my money for a PokeDoll, and then use it if we cannot escape so easily.”

He reached for his money in his pocket, but it looks like that was not necessary. Cryogonal simply took a step forward and growled fiercely, and Chatot took a couple of steps back and proceeded to fly away quickly. "Heh, Chatot got scared it seems." I laughed.

The Miltank was not pleased with the situation however. It yelled a loud MIL... MILMIL... and stomped loudly on the ground. Within seconds, a second Pokemon had appeared. This time, it was a cat-like Pokemon. As it walked towards us calmly and purred fiercely, the Glameow stood forward and faced us. However, before anything could happen, the Miltank rushed forward and brushed the Glameow aside, slapping the cat away with her fat udders. The Glameow started to purr cowardly at the Miltank, before the Miltank replied with a barrage of loud calls and shouts. It was probably offensive language, but we couldn't tell. It seemed like Glameow had thought that its leader wanted another sidekick to take the battle, but Miltank had actually wanted to do it herself.

"Uhh... looks like you get to battle Miltank before Glameow first. Want to try and catch it?"

As I readied my money if we could not escape so easily. My ice crystallization Pokemon just simply growled forward at the musical bird, known as Chatot. Chatot fluttered for a moment and quickly flew away through the wind. Ataro smiled and laughed said. “Heh, Chatot got scared it seems.” I was quite surprised Chatot got scared and dashed away so quickly. Cryogonal was such a screamer with the Pokemon.

Suddenly, we all forgot about the angry Miltank. I heard yelp MIL…MILMIL.. and it stomped loudly on the ground. Dust flickered up for a moment. The pink coloured bipedal cow was quite distressed at what had just happened. Miltank slammed its cream belly and wobbled its udders. I wondered what it was trying to tell us… Unexpectedly, a grey feline creature with a curled up tail appeared. The cat was known as Glameow. It walked calmly towards Ataro and I. I heard it purr fiercely and watched as it faced us.

“What is this dilemma?” I questioned myself. Then Miltank rushed forward and I noticed it brushed Glameow aside. I was shocked when Miltank slapped the Glameow with its udders. My ears were left muffled by the Glameow’s cowardly purr. The pink cow and Glameow were having a bit of a domestic.

“Uhh… looks like you get to battle Miltank before Glameow first. Want to try and catch it?” Ataro turned to me, and said. I nodded repeatedly with excitement. I knew I had a Miltank, but another one would not hurt. Cryogonal was levitating around behind, perhaps my icy mirror could do two battles at once. I waved my arms around to grab its attention. Cryogonal did not seem to notice my arms so much, and then I looked like I was trying to fly.

“Cryogonal, are you ready?” I said, and waved. Suddenly, my crystallization mirror mysteriously flew in front of me. It let out a growl and was ready for commands. I needed to whittle down some health before I do anything else. Cryogonal did not have many instant status afflictions so I had to use its strengths before I could do anything else. My crystallization mirror levitated in a circle and waited for my command. Miltank seemed to be ready to battle as well.

“Cryogonal, I want you to use your Icy Wind first,” I said, and instructed. “Make sure you aim around its udder area. That cow is faster than she looks.” Cryogonal nodded and understood the command. Miltank were known for their speed considering their chubbiness. Then I needed to come up with a combination attack to go alongside with the Icy Wind. I wondered to myself, and then it clicked. I should use Ice Beam straight after.

“Cryogonal, after the Icy Wind slows Miltank down,” I shouted, and waved. “Try to use a direct Ice Beam on Miltank’s face. We can try and stun it before we get too bogged down by its power!” Cryogonal nodded and prepared to use the combination effectively. It shook its light-blue mirror body and awaited the results.

Chris had nodded repeatedly in response to my question. He seemed to be particularly interested in this Pokemon... Perhaps he wanted the free supply of cow milk. He waved his arm for Cryogonal to come forward and take part in the battle, and asked if his Pokemon was ready.

The duo quickly start out with an Icy Wind. The familiar blast of cold wind that contained the ice molecules was blown out of Cryogonal's mouth and headed for the Miltank. Chris had called for an immediate Ice Beam after Icy Wind, and Cryogonal was already preparing to fire an Ice Beam right after that. Miltank meanwhile, simply smirked and laughed. Just as the Icy Wind floats across the field, a green wall appeared in front of Miltank suddenly.

The Icy Wind slammed into the wall and vanished over time. There was a slight mist left by the residue of the attack however, and I started to wonder if Cryogonal could connect with the second attack. After the fog started to clear a bit, Cryogonal immediately fired its attack towards the middle of the mist, it was as if it had already recognized the position of its target.

Miltank looked at the oncoming Ice Beam and quickly proceeded to curl herself up. As she did that, the Protect barrier vanished within a split second, and the Ice Beam shot across the field. The Miltank however, started spinning on the spot while still curled up, and took a direct hit from the Ice Beam. The attack seemed to have froze up the surrounding flowers that was around Miltank, but the curled up Miltank was still spinning by herself on the spot. She seemed to have received almost zero damage from the attack.

I started to wonder if the reason was that it was spinning continuously which usually had a tendency to sponge up attacks, or whether if it was Miltank's ability that was absorbing the damage. It could well have been both as well. As a proficient Miltank user if I could say so myself, Miltank has the ability - Thick Fat - which is an incredible asset against Fire- and Ice-typed attacks.

I wondered if Chris had any backup plans, for Miltank sure didn't seem patient. She had started to roll towards Cryogonal, starting slowly but seemed to be gaining speed. This was not going to be an easy battle.

"Be careful. This Miltank seemed particularly mischievous and crafty," I warned.

I nodded repeatedly with my brown haired head in response to Ataro’s question. I noticed my ranger knew I was interested in milly moo, Miltank. I could tell by the look on his, that he must have thought I wanted some weird uses out of Miltank. Perhaps I could open up a Miltank farm and produce moo-moo milk. There was so many endless possibilities I could open up a business and sell Moo Moo drink for valid customers! Anyways, I waited for Cryogonal to take part in the combination of Icy Wind and Ice Beam. My crystallization mirror moved around like it was ready, and began to battle. I was so excited on attempting to capture another Miltank, even though it would be a lot of hard work. I had known from the past that my Ranger, Ataro was fond of normal types and loved his Miltank to bits. I’ve witnessed in the past of him elegantly beating down people with in Nacrene City Gym. It was such a delight to watch his Miltank that it smacked down a Crobat to the floor with a few Rock Tombs and Thunder Punches.

Cryogonal began to start out with its Icy Wind. My crystallization mirror began to clank its black mouth of some sort and breathed out a cold breeze of ice particles, which torpedoed quickly in the direction of the pink cow, with four udders. Then, I waited patiently for an Ice Beam after the Icy Wind. My Cryogonal shivered and prepared to a fire an Ice Beam directly after the first attack. I watched in anticipation as Miltank smirked and laughed at my strategy. Icy Wind breezed and then floated slowly across the field. Suddenly, a sharp, emerald-like wall appeared in front of the clever cow and shielded all of the cold breeze attack. Then it vanished, Cryogonal looked displeased at its own Icy Wind attack failing. A small, blue-like cloud appeared from where the icicle atmosphere had been dematerialized.

“Woah,” I said to myself with shock. “I am surprised something like that has happened here, clever Miltank.” Cryogonal watched the mist clear and then started an Ice Beam attack. Suddenly, a cold stream of solid ice spouted through the middle of the must. I watched as if the Ice Beam knew its own target. I noticed Miltank watched the oncoming Ice Beam, and quickly went into a big pink, fuzzy ball of Miltankness. The pink cow creature’s green barrier it formed disappeared as the Ice Beam spouted across the grassy field. I was quite shocked and worried what would happen next! I glanced over at the pink, creature and noticed it started spinning on the spot, whilst curled up. Cryogonal’s Ice Beam luckily collided.

“Good show,” I said with a smile to Cryogonal. The beautiful flowers around the bipedal cow shrivelled up and froze. I noticed that Miltank was still spinning around on the spot. My eyes zoomed out like a telescope in a cartoon and noticed she took no damage! I was so amazed and then it hit me, perhaps I had chosen the wrong strategy and did not realise about Miltank’s abilities.

I looked over at Ataro who seemed to be analysing the battle affectively. It was as if he was one step ahead every time. Miltank had negated pretty much all of the damage and attacks I threw at the Miltank, with Cryogonal. My crystallization mirror did not seem very happy, perhaps it was agitated the combination failed. Suddenly, the spongy Miltank rolled quickly in the direction of my Cryogonal. It seemed to a slow roll though, and was gaining massive speeds. What could this be I thought to myself?

“I know I messed up this time, Miltank,” I shouted to the wild Pokemon. “I completely forgot about your Thick Fat abilities!” I pulled my hair out and needed my daily fix. But this was the Botanical Gardens, and not the place to do it. I pondered as to what to do next because Miltank was going to gain even more speed and massive strength with a Rollout. Cryogonal seemed to have taken a scratch, and I did not like this at all.

“Be careful, This Miltank seemed particularly mischievous and crafty,” Ataro warned me. Miltank was definitely a powerful sponge Pokemon. Cryogonal and I needed to come up with a good strategy to get this Roll Out from getting too powerful. Therefore, I had to operate with better attacks. I could possibly switch in Solrock, however Rollout would be too strong by then. I needed to use my crystallization mirror to the best of my ability.

“Right, Cryogonal,” I shouted, and said. “I would like you to use Ice Beam at the ground around Miltank!” I had hoped this plan would work more effectively than the previous one. “Make sure you freeze the ground around Miltank, therefore we can hope it might slip out of control!” Cryogonal nodded with agreement, the plan was to slow Miltank down before Rollout got too powerful.

“Then, after that Cryogonal,” I said, and ordered. “I would like you to use Solarbeam. I want you to try and keep your distance from any possible, Rollout-like attacks towards you!” Cryogonal nodded once more and waited to use its new combination, strategy. It started to prepare its moves and take on that Miltank some more.
