"No thanks I could never fit a Dugtrio into my team." I said to Joe "But jeez I hope we run into something I want soon. I guess all I can do though is ask to move on and hope." I said trying to be hopeful

Joe smiled and waited as he knew the Dugtrio would eventually move on and catch up with the rest of the group. After 5 minuets, the Dugtrio slowly moved on and headed down the path.

Joe and Eric continued to walk down the grit path ahead when suddenly a loud roar appeared from nowhere. A large red Pokemon appeared in front of them. It was an Arcanine, so called an Legendary Pokemon.

"Do you want to battle this Arcanine?" Joe asked Eric

IC: After waiting for a couple of minutes Dugtrio decided to go catch up with the rest of the Dugtrio and Diglett.

As Joe and myself continued to walk along the way we heard a loud roar. At that time a large red Pokemon seemed to appear out of nowhere, it was an Arcanine.

"Do you want to battle this Arcanine?" Joe asked me

"I'd love to battle it, if it were a Growlithe. Its the same problem that I had before with Aggron, if I capture it I won't have its pre evolved form in my Pokedex. So I'd like to just continue on" I said

"But I'm not so sure that this Arcanine will just let us pass with ease so just to be safe I'd be willing to buy a pokedoll if needed."

"I'd love to battle it, if it were a Growlithe. Its the same problem that I had before with Aggron, if I capture it I won't have its pre evolved form in my Pokedex. So I'd like to just continue on" Eric said.

Joe smiled and watched as the Arcanine slowly walked up to Joe and rubbed his tall red mane on Joe's leg. It looked like this Arcanine only wanted to have some love. The Arcanine looked up and pounced on Joe, pinning him down the ground. The small pink tongue appeared from his face and he began to lick Joe. After a while, Joe pushed the Arcanine off and stood up before giving a small treat to the Legend Pokemon. It took the treat and swiftly ran away.

The group marched on up the tall mountain's path. Joe noticed a lot of mole hills around the path, properly dug up by Sandshrew. A small golden Pokemon appeared from the holes. It looked very familiar. It was the same Sandshrew as before. However further down the path, a small silver Pokemon popped his head out from a rock. It was an Aron. The small Aron started to charge towards the small Sandshrew. Before the Sandshrew was hit, it quickly dived into the holes and disappeared. Joe noticed some berries on the side of the path and noticed that Aron was protecting them from other Pokemon.

Joe turned to Eric and asked, "Do you want to battle this Aron, I think you wanted one, am I correct?"

Arcanine didn't seem to want to battle so much as it wanted some affection. Arcanine walked over and jumped on Joe knocking him over, and began to lick him just like a little puppy dog would. Eventually Joe pushed Arcanine off of him and gave it a treat so we could continue on our way. Arcanine happily took the treat from Joe and began to run away.

We continued along our way and noticed a lot of dug up spots. As we looked at the holes we noticed a Sandshrew, and by the look on Joe's face I could tell he knew it was the same Sandshrew from before. Further down the path another small Pokemon popped out from a rock, there was no mistaking that it was an Aron. Aron began to charge at Sandshrew but using some quick thinking Sandshrew jumped back into the hole and vanished.

Joe turned to me and said "Do you want to battle this Aron, I think you wanted one, am I correct?"

"Yes, you're right I do want an Aron, I'd love to battle it!" I said excitedly. "I'm glad my decision to pass up on Aggron before didn't cost me my chance at owning one."

I reached to my belt and grabbed the Pokemon that I knew would be best to fight this Aron. "Come on out here Ambipom!" I said throwing its Pokeball in the air.

"Ambi!" Ambipom said looking happy to be in the fresh air.

"All right then Ambipom I know you love to battle that's why in this case you're the best Pokemon I have to face Aron." I knew Ambipom loved to battle so it could test its skills and show off a little if it had the chance, I also knew it was the one Pokemon I had on me that was least likely to knock Aron out.

I stood there eagerly waiting to tell Ambipom its first move, I didn't want Ambipom to just rush into the battle with Aron because then it would be prone to mess up if it ran in and just attacked without using its head. I also knew though that Ambipom wouldn't want to stop battling until Aron was weak enough to be captured, or until Ambi was going to be knocked out.

"I think we're ready to begin Ambipom. So that being said rush over there and use Fake Out!" I didn't want Ambipom to do anything too major to start because I didn't want it getting hurt seeing as how it was my most precious Pokemon.

Ambipom heard my command, began to smile, and then charged head on at Aron. Ambipom ran faster than it normally would due to Fake Out being a strike first move. Ambipom ran right in front of Aron and threw both of its tails behind its head so it could have them come crashing into Aron's sides for Fake Out.

 

"I think we're ready to begin Ambipom. So that being said rush over there and use Fake Out!" Shouted Eric from the side.

Ambipom quickly rushed towards Aron, who now looked very interested in a battle. Ambipom raised one of his tails and swiped it across Aron's steel body. It didn't seem to do much however Aron looked like it could hardly move after that attack. Joe remembered that Fake Out was a move that could Flinch the target and hit first, a very good move to start a battle off.

Both Pokemon looked across at each other, desperate to win this battle. Joe turned around and caught sight of a Pokemon pocking his head around the corner. It looked like a familiar Pokemon.

Ambipom rushed over to Aron and nailed it with Fake Out just like I asked, and as Fake Out always does it got a flinch just like I wanted.

"Good work Ambipom, you're doing a good job." I said to Ambipom giving it some encouragement.

My plan to use Fake Out on Aron was mainly to make it flinch so I had a little bit of time to think of what to do vs it so I could weaken it, but not knock it out. I was never very good at making a fast decision which is why I need to get Aron to flinch so I didn't act too fast and mess up.

After thinking I noticed Ambipom's tails, that was a thing I loved about Ambipom, its tails acted as fists and they could both be used do use different attacks at the same exact time to confuse the enemy.

"Ambipom now I want you to use Thunder Wave, but at the same time I want you to use one of your tails for a Fire Punch, I know it might seem a bit complicated but I know you can do it Ambipom!" I shouted at Ambipom hoping that I could spark its battle spirit and get it to pull off my combo.

The idea of having two different attacks used at once was simple I felt. I could either paralyze the Aron with Thunder Wave then hit it with Fire Punch, or the Thunder Wave could be a distraction for Aron to avoid it and get right in the way of Ambipom's Fire Punch. Pulling off a combo like this did seem a bit complicated when I thought more about it, but it sounded like a win/win situation to me so I figured anything was worth a try.

Once Ambipom heard my commands it let out a loud "Ambi" then stood its ground and began to charge up a blueish ball of energy which had a ton of yellow lighting circulating around it, this was Ambipom's Thunder Wave. Once the ball was completed Ambipom threw both its tails in the air, it then used one tail to slam the ball of energy at Aron. The ball exploded on impact with Ambipom's tail, the ball was now just pure yellow lighting that was sent flying at Aron.

While the Thunder Wave was heading towards Aron Ambipom then took its other tail and began to make a Fire Punch with it. As the Thunder Wave came closer to Aron Ambipom's tail became a glowing red, and then became on fire. At this point Ambipom began to slowly run at Aron with the Fire Punch ready at hand, or tail in Ambipom's case, and waited to see how Aron would react to Thunder Wave before attacking.

 

OOC: Whew, finally done.

After some thinking while the Aron flinched, Eric began to issue his next order to Ambipom.

"Good work Ambipom, you're doing a good job." he said to Ambipom giving it some encouragement. "Ambipom now I want you to use Thunder Wave, but at the same time I want you to use one of your tails for a Fire Punch, I know it might seem a bit complicated but I know you can do it, Ambipom!"

Ambi gave a nod and started to form two different energies in his hand-like tails. One hand held a ball of bright yellow electricity, weak but effective. The other began to be cloaked with a searing fire.

"Ambi!" Ambipom called as it loosed the ball of weak electricity upon the Aron, paralyzing it quickly. The Aron, in complete shock of being slammed by a non-damaging burst of electricity, stood there while the Ambipom charged him down, tail-hand blazing. At the last second, the Aron tried to jump out of the way, but the paralysis prevented him from moving effectively. The fire cloaked fist-hand punched the steel type, sending him staggering a little. For a second, Joe thought that he saw a falcon shape form out of the fire that cloaked the Ambipom's hand-tail, but when he rubbed his eyes it had vanished and the attack completed. The attack was done and Aron was sprawled out on the ground. It then scrambled to its feet, preparing to attack.

The Aron, unhindered by its apparent lack of mobility, quickly coated itself in metal and charged at the Ambipom, who had just been recovering back into its defensive position. Using its claws to rake and slash, it barreled into the larger foe. After doing a good amount of damage, it flipped backwards and into a ready position. If anything, it seemed more powerful despite the small sparks that were still coursing across its body. Joe hadn't ever seen a Pokemon act in this way, but it looked as if it were beckoning for the opponent's next move.

OOC: Don't forget that I also have Nape, and why does Ambipom have two different health amounts?

IC: Ambipom's combo worked out perfectly as Aron was now paralyzed thanks to Thunder Wave, and Aron was also stuck in its place to take the hit from Fire Punch. I was glad to see the combo worked out because now that Aron was paralyzed it was much more vulnerable to Ambipom's attacks, and easier to capture later too.

Ambipom didn't leave this little scrimmage between itself and Aron however as Aron was still able to land a Metal Claw on Ambipom which not only injured the little monkey but also seemed to have increased Aron's attack as well.

"Aron with an increased attack could be some serious trouble if we aren't careful Ambipom." I said to Ambipom as I began to plot Ambipom's next move.

"I wonder what would be the best move to do, I'm afraid that if I used Brick Break Ambipom would go to hard and end up knocking Aron out which would ruin my chances of catching it, but at the same time basically every other move Ambipom could throw at Aron would hardly damage it, hm whats the right move to do in this situation?" I thought to myself without trying to lose my cool. I didn't want to act without thinking this through for a minute or else it could cost me dearly.

"All right Ambipom you're doing a good job." I said to Ambipom to make sure I kept it motivated and focused on battling Aron. "However I'm going to need you to focus your strength correctly during your next attacks, you need to hurt Aron, but not too much." I said hoping Ambipom would understand what I meant.

"Okay now Ambipom hit Aron with a Sand Attack, but the second after you launch the Sand Attack I want you to do a Seed Bomb attack." I thought that this could maybe work like my last combo, it could either end up with Aron being stuck in its place due to being paralyzed and it would be hit by Sand Attack which could slightly blind it, or it could avoid that attack and jump right into Seed Bomb, or maybe both attacks would hit but I wouldn't know unless I had Ambipom try.

Ambipom looked back at me and nodded to let me know it understood. In that instant it jumped back a little and give a big kick to the ground to send sand and dirt for the Sand Attack towards Aron. Right after Ambipom did this it send some big seeds flying towards Aron for the Seed Bomb. With how fast the seeds were traveling it wouldn't have surprised me if some of the seeds mixed together with the sand making a joint attack, but then again I could have also just been imagining things.

 

"Aron with an increased attack could be some serious trouble if we aren't careful, Ambipom." Eric told his Ambipom as he began to think of their next move.

As Eric thought things over, Joe's attention drifted over to the Aron. The little iron creature was busy as well. It was attempting to get past its paralysis, the larger sparks beginning to fade from the sturdy creature's metallic hide. It was still noticeably paralyzed, but was beginning to speed up.

"All right Ambipom you're doing a good job." he said to Ambipom to make sure it stayed motivated and focused on battling Aron. "However I'm going to need you to focus your strength correctly during your next attacks, you need to hurt Aron, but not too much." Eric said, hoping Ambipom would understand what I meant.

"Okay now Ambipom hit Aron with a Sand Attack, but the second after you launch the Sand Attack I want you to do a Seed Bomb attack." Eric finished. It was a strange combo and I didn't know if it would work.

Ambipom seemed willing to try it, however, so it quickly kicked at the ground to send up a spray of sand. It then launched a spray of seeds, infusing them into the sand spray.

This was all well and good, but Aron had been busying itself preparing an attack. As soon as Ambipom had launched its attack, Aron began to cloak itself in strange, purple and blue flames. The Aron charged down the sand attack, sending the sand flying up around it in an amazing display of draconic fire and sand. Joe couldn't see what had happened to the seeds, but Aron had cleared the attack and slammed into the Ambipom within a few seconds. The Aron flipped back into a ready position, but was noticeably injured although it didn't seem to care. It was then that Joe realized what kind of attack it was.

"Careful," Joe said to Eric. "That was a Dragon Rush attack. Most Aron don't know that move."

Ambipom was looking slightly confused as well. Its attack obviously did damage, but the Aron was unaffected. It was even paralyzed and didn't seem to care. Both Pokemon stared each other down, preparing for the next move.

Ambipom had been able to deal some damage to Aron again but not with out taking a hit itself.

"Its a good thing that Aron is paralyzed or else it might have struck first with that Dragon Rush attack and could have made Ambipom flinch." I said

Aron was still clearly feeling the effects from being paralyzed but by no means was that stopping it from attacking or defending. It also seemed to be taking every attack Ambipom threw at it without taking much damage or really showing any signs of fatigue.

"Hm this Aron is a lot more durable than I gave it credit for, I suppose going for attacks that are neutrally effective on it won't be enough, I'll have to try something else then." I thought to myself hoping that Ambipom knew to withhold some of its power if I had it use one of its fighting attacks on Aron.

I was sure Ambipom would know to hold back a little because it had shown me time and time again that it is a smart Pokemon who tends to understand my commands.

The main problem was though that Aron was already slightly weakened so a powerful attack at this point could end up knocking it out by accident, and seeing as how the two Fighting type attacks Ambipom knew were Brick Break and Low Kick I feared that Aron's four times weakness to those moves would end up cause it to faint.

"I'd better wait to tell Ambipom to try one of its Fighting attacks until I know for a fact that it wouldn't deal too much damage." I thought to myself

"All right now Ambipom I want you to hit Aron with a Brick Break to make it weak enough to capture." Ambipom turned to me again and let out an "Ambi" to let me know that it understood it was to only hurt Aron not finish it.

Ambipom began to charge over to Aron and threw both its tails behind its head. I had seen Ambipom use Brick Break before, it throws its tail right at the opponent like its going for a chop and slams it against its head and body. The thing I always liked about Brick Break was that it also removed barriers like Light Screen and Reflect which made battles troublesome sometimes.

I knew that Aron's four times weakness to Fighting made using an attack like Brick Break risky, but I also knew that this could go on forever if I didn't attempt to use an attack that would be super effective on Aron. However Ambipom is a crafty battler so I didn't have too many worries about it knocking out Aron with this attack.

If this plan of mine worked out and Aron wasn't knocked out then it would probably be able to be caught very soon.

 

"Its a good thing that Aron is paralyzed or else it might have struck first with that Dragon Rush attack and could have made Ambipom flinch." Eric said as he watched the attack unfold.

Joe nodded in agreement. It would have been bad for the Aron to make his Ambipom flinch. Things could have beeen very different if it did.

Eric began to think intensely again, trying to come up with a solution that would make the Aron weak enough for capture. As he was doing this, the Aron was effectively paralyzed, keeping it from taking advantage of the gap in attacks.

"All right now Ambipom I want you to hit Aron with a Brick Break to make it weak enough to capture," Eric called out to his Ambipom.

"Ambi!" his Pokemon confirmed as it began to charge. This was a risky tactic. If the Brick Break attack was misaimed, the Aron might faint. Ambipom charged none the less, readying its tail-hand in a fighting position.

As the purple monkey neared into attacking range, the Aron began to charge as well. The small metal Pokemon began to tuck in its head, readying one of the most powerful moves it could muster. A Head Smash The two charging Pokemon neared each other, closer and closer...

Bang! In a flash of energy, both Pokemon were sent flying backwards after they came into contact with each other. Ambipom stood up quickly, readying itself. Aron, however, was very slow to get up. It must have been severely injured by the exchange of blows.

Joe played the events back through his head and then created a conclusion. The Aron had been hit by a glancing Brick Break off the side of its armor as it smashed into the Ambipom. It was a magnificent display and Joe wondered what the Trainer would do next.

Ambipom and Aron collided head on, but in the end Ambipom was able to get back up with ease while Aron had trouble getting back up.

"Aron is a bit tired after that last struggle, this battle must finally be taking its toll on Aron then." I said to myself

Both Pokemon finally returned to a standing position. Ambipom seemed to be fine for the most part while Aron was having a hard time catching its breath.

"Aron isn't exactly as weak as I would have hoped after taking that Brick Break attack head on, maybe I should have just went for Low Kick like I originally planned to do. Maybe I jumped the gun a few moments ago when I said that Aron was tired after that last attack series with Ambipom." I thought to myself. "Oh well I can't exactly chance things now, and to risk another Brick Break attack or a Low Kick at this point would be foolish because I doubt Ambipom could keep itself from knocking out Aron, plus if I attacked Aron again it would give it a chance to counter attack and I'd rather not see any further harm happen to Ambipom." I said turning my head towards Ambipom after looking at Aron.

"I suppose now is as good a time as any to finish things off with Aron then. That being said return to my side Ambipom." I said to Ambipom as I reached into my backpack to pull out an unused Superball to try to catch Aron with.

"All right Ambipom lets see if all your hard work vs Aron paid off!" I said as I tossed the Superball at Aron and hoped for the best.

 

After the impressive exchange of blows, Eric went into a state of deep thought while the Aron tried to get up. Having come to a conclusion, just as the metallic creature had climbed to its feet, Eric began to speak.

"I suppose now is as good a time as any to finish things off with Aron then. That being said return to my side Ambipom." he said to Ambipom as he reached into his backpack to pull out a Super Ball to catch Aron with.

Ambipom obediently trotted back to his owner's side as Eric hefted the slightly advanced version of the common Park Ball. As he threw the Super Ball, the Aron had finally regained its bearings and was preparing for an attack.

"All right Ambipom lets see if all your hard work vs Aron paid off!" he shouted as the ball flew through the air.

The Aron, suddenly startled, was sucked into the ball in a flash of light and a shower of sparks. The Capture Sphere fell to the ground and wobbled several times. Once, twice...

There was an audible click that signified that the Aron was captured.

"Congratulations," Joe said to Eric. "You've caught an Aron!"

Joe walked over to the Super Ball, which lay in the dust of the cave, picked it up and stuffed it into his backpack for safekeeping.

"Shall we move on?" Joe asked.

"Shall we move on?" Joe asked me

"No thanks." I said to Joe. "This run has been interesting but I feel its taken its course, I'm happy with just Aron." I said to Joe with a smile on my face.

"Thanks a lot for taking me on this run, and I wish you the best in any future job you take when. Who knows maybe our paths will cross again and you'll end up being my ranger some other time." I said to Joe as I got my things ready.

"Return Ambipom." I said as Ambipom reentered its Pokeball. "I hope to see you in the future Joe, but until then so long and take care!"
