I sighed as I continued to wait for my trainer to reach at the specified time. The agreed timing was at 3pm, and it was already 2:59pm. I figured it was probably the weather and location that had made me grouchy. Who in the right mind would decide to traverse a volcano in the middle of a roasting afternoon. Leo probably.

I took out my smartphone and read up on the data on my trainer since there was nothing much I could have done at the moment anyway. I had never took this trainer on an encounter run before, and I had definitely not seen this name before. However, there was something ... something familiar about him. It might probably have been his Pokemon, for that Houndoom, had the exact same gender, nickname, ability, nature, moves, and whatever you can think of, as a recent trainer that I've bought on a run for the Easter Capture Contest. These two trainers had completely different names, but how was that even possible? It was useless thinking so much though, and I decided to just shrug it off.

Regardless, I was prepared to quickly get this over and done with. Mt. Deckbi was definitely a dangerous place and it was basically going to be hot throughout, which was why I had decided to bring Snorlax! I smirked briefly before looking at the large Pokemon beside me, whom was busily looking around in all direction. I didn't have to worry about whatsoever, since it was probably Snorlax being hungry again, or simply excited. With his Thick Fat, he would be perhaps the best Normal-type Pokemon to enter such areas, since the thick blubber of fats have the ability to withstand Fire-type damages. And if need be, Snorlax would be strong enough to prevent any wild rampages or possible problems.

While waiting, I decided to take out a couple of poffins that I had just bought from some tidbits store. Without even offering them to Snorlax yet, it had already disappeared from my hands. I couldn't help but laugh and looked at Snorlax, whom was already busily munching down on those poffins. That should satisfy his stomach for a while...

"Shadow, we're headed there again buddy!" I called out to my hellhound, Shadow, a large Houndoom. He eagerly wagged his arrow-tipped tail back and forth as he ran towards the door. "We'll just need the bag Jerome took yesterday and then we're off!" Shadow opened the door with his tail and darted out. I looked around for anything in particular that I would need. I was just going to bring Mindbender as usual. That should actually suffice on this run. I hardly ever needed anything more than those two anyways. Shadow, because he was one of the Pokemon who knew the whole park quite well, as he often ventured off to different locations just to explore while I worked. Lucky him. And Mindbender, my Gardevoir. She was one of the best Pokemon you could have in the park. She was strong and powerful, and she could also easily inflict any status effect on any Pokemon. She was the ideal Pokemon to bring with you. So these two guys were all that I needed to successfully do well on this run.

I picked up her Pokeball and clocked out as a Ranger. I was now at the park as a Trainer. Though, that never stopped me from doing what I wanted to at the park. I grabbed a couple of items from my desk and pocketed them, as well as a map of Deckbi. I wasn't sure which Ranger was taking me, but hopefully he or she would be someone interesting.

Just as I was getting ready to walk out, Shadow pushes the door open and is dragging Jerome in by the shirt. "Impatient much?" Jerome said laughing. "I was just trying to restock it. Where are you two going anyways?"

"Deckbi, his favorite place." I replied. "So yeah, he tends to get overly excited about that place. As you can see, we're about to leave. I was just about to go pick up that bag, but it looks like Shadow took care of that." I chuckled.

"Great, now I'll probably be forced to take your runs since I'm new here." Jerome sighed.

"Usually, yeah, but I have another Ranger taking over them for the time being." I said. "So you lucked out this time." With a huge grin on his face, he quickly left before I could give him any more tasks, which normally, would be smart, but I wasn't giving him anything to do today. I picked up the backpack and placed it on. We were now ready to go. I grabbed a few energy bars and some bottled water and had Mindbender teleport me to Deckbi.

Once there, I quickly scouted the area and saw a young Ranger named Ataro. He was really noticeable, which was probably the point, because of the enormous Pokemon behind him. His Snorlax was eating something, but I wasn't close enough to see what it was exactly. As I approached, Snorlax was just finishing his snack. Usually, Snorlax liked eating a lot of stuff, so I tossed Snorlax my energy bar in hopes it wouldn't attack me for it.

"You must be Ranger Ataro. I am Leo, and that is Shadow. He comes here often, in fact, he participated in that contest with Jerome." I said, spraying myself with a Fire type repellant. "We're ready to go as soon as you are."

As the one minute passed, my trainer had appeared right on the dot, and I was greeted by a sight of Snorlax jumping and catching the energy bar in the air that was thrown by Leo. Snorlax munched down the energy bar like it was nothing and rubbed his belly. He was definitely satisfied. I rolled my eyes as Snorlax turned over to Leo and picked him up to give him a hug. It seemed like Snorlax had favored Leo over me now, all of these just because of an energy bar.

"You must be Ranger Ataro. I am Leo, and that is Shadow. He comes here often, in fact, he participated in that contest with Jerome." Leo said, and sprayed himself with a Fire type repellent. "We're ready to go as soon as you are."

"Indeed I am. Oh no wonder, I had found that Houndoom to be particularly familiar. Did Jerome tell you about this recent contest adventure?" I asked, but I was too excited to wait for a reply. "He had discovered a secret passage in Mt. Deckbi and found a treasure chest! Too bad the chest was pretty lame and it contained a Rapidash in it. Bizarre."

As I talked nonstop, I quickly remembered to bring my trainer on his adventure as well. We didn't have much of a choice for now, since we had to pass by the fields that were flooded with extremely fertile crops and volcanic ashes first. If I recalled correctly from the previous time I've been here, we would soon see the large iconic mountain after we have passed the fields. I couldn't remember that clearly since it was quite some time ago, and the recent run with Jerome, we had took a shortcut and started at the mountain immediately.

I noticed that the air wasn't particularly fresh around here. As usual, it had reeked of the volcanic ash smell and the smell of burning charcoal flooded my nostrils constantly. I couldn't help but sneezed a violent one after the smell had irritated my nostrils.

    ARRRCHOOOO

Just after I sneezed, there seemed to have been a weird echo. I was about to pass it off as an echo indeed, even though it was kind of weird since the place we were in currently wouldn't produce echos, and a second sneeze interrupted my thoughts. I started to think if our first Pokemon encounter had started already and I was right! The Phanpy took small steps and crawled out from the short bushes nearby, rubbing its nose cuddly.

"Looks like our first encounter is here. Want a Phanpy?"

"Looks like our first encounter is here. Want a Phanpy? Ranger Ataro stated. I looked down at the small, long nosed elephant Pokemon. It was indeed an interesting Pokemon, but I was not here for one of those, nor did I really want to capture one. More so because I knew someone that captured and sold Phanpy legally and I could easily get one from there. I didn't want to waste one of my three captures on a Phanpy. That being said, there probably wouldn't be three Pokemon that I would capture today. Hopefully I could at least capture two, if anything, one.

"No. I will pass on the little guy." I said, pulling out a Pokedoll. "I have one of these things in case he doesn't let us go by."

"No. I will pass on the little guy," he said, pulling out a Pokedoll. "I have one of these things in case he doesn't let us go by."

I nodded in agreement and proceeded to lead Leo pass the Phanpy. I was really not surprised that he wasn't interested in the Phanpy. He was probably looking for something in particular since he had captured majority of the Pokemon in the universe. I started to wonder if he had brought along Voice Disks though, it would sure have made this much easier instead of just relying on dumb luck.

Just when we passed Phanpy, it had dashed forward with a very fast movement. Using reflex, Snorlax brushed his arm forward to defend us from the attack that I had recognized as Ice Shard, for it had left a few ice crystals on Snorlax's arm. It was nothing though, for I knew Snorlax had the ability to withstand Ice-type attacks, just like he could with Fire.

Upon noticing what had happened, Leo decided to throw his Pokedoll forward instead. Clearly, the Phanpy was not going to let us pass without a fight and times like this, using a Pokedoll was necessary to avoid a fight. The Phanpy picked up the Pokedoll and curled it in with its snout before running back past the crops.

We continued walking into forward and it was not long before we had reached the entrance of the mountain. The top of the mountain was still emitting smoke and the volcano was definitively active still. We quickly entered the mountain and the area was blistering hot and dry, with small volcano pools lined up every now and then. Surely a dangerous area like this had to have some rare Pokemon.

This time, I heard a strange cry coming from the right and I had noticed that it was a Bronzor. It did not seem to be pleased, and looked rather annoyed actually. It could very well have been the environment and perhaps it was trying to get out of the cave and looked for a cooler place before we had interrupted it.

"Eh, it's not that rare of a Pokemon, but want a Bronzor perhaps?

"Hmm, can't really think of anyone that would want one, so I suppose I will have to pass on him. He doesn't look that strong anyways. Let's try and avoid a battle with him. Doll ready in case he comes at us." I said, pulling out another Pokedoll. I wanted quite a few Pokemon, so with luck, I would hopefully run into something better than this. Something like Onix or Gligar would be cool. Wasn't going to be too picky this run.

I looked forward and noticed that after Leo had said that, the Bronzor snorted a grunt of disapproval. It floated past us, well on its way to the exit. I started to worry if this run would be quite boring as there seem to be nothing that my trainer was interested in so far. Perhaps the recent Easter Capture Contest had emptied out most of the rare Pokemon. Or perhaps they have just retreated back for the time being. We continued walking in the mountain and everything just appeared as crimson smoke to me, and the surroundings was definitely most cold and tough. Huge boulders and rocks everywhere, enshrouded in the red glow that is emitted from the volcano pools.

Soon, a shudder sounded from a nearby patch of boulders, and it had started to move. I gasped in astonishment but realized it was just a Nosepass. Those creatures are definitely not that rare, but they are a kind of novelty Pokemom that collectors just might like. I wasn't sure if Leo had already captured one before however. I've heard rumors of this trainer capturing the most amount of Pokemon in the world and I honestly wouldn't be surprised at all if he passes up on Nosepass.

    "Nosepass for you?"

I was beginning to wonder if anything interesting would be coming my way anytime soon. I wanted to leave here with at least two good Pokémon, but so far I could not even find one. I wasn’t even really sure what I wanted. There were a couple that I might catch if I see them even if I wasn’t that interested in them because who knows if I would even run into anything better.

There were a couple of Fire type Pokémon that I wanted to catch as well, like another Houndour, but the amount of Ground, Steel and Rock types that I wanted outweighed Fire so that was why I used Fire type Repellant. I could come back and do a run with Rock or Ground type repellant later. I figured it would be easier to find what I wanted by using this repellant, but so far no luck. Bronzor wasn’t that bad of a Pokémon, and honestly, if I was in the mood, I would have captured it. However, I wasn’t in the mood and I didn’t feel like spending time battling it. I just wanted to move on and see what other interesting Pokémon came my way. One good one was bound to show up soon. I wanted something like Aron or Sandile.

Suddenly, a rattling sound came from some boulders and I got excited. I wasn’t expecting an Onix, but perhaps a Rhyhorn or something. It wasn’t either of those, it was a bluish-colored hard rock Pokemon. It pretty much looked like Easter Island Heads. The most prominent feature on him was his bright red, triangular nose. His arms and legs did not appear to have any joints and had small, circular holes on the undersides. His arms sort of looked like compass needles.

"Nosepass for you?" my Ranger asked. I was about to say no, I even had already pulled out my Pokedoll, but then I shrugged and put it back. I thought about it for a moment.

“Why not.” I said. “I guess I’ll capture this Pokémon. I don’t know if I’ll find anything else of interest today so I might as well capture this just in case.” I really wasn’t expecting to capture a Nosepass today, but with the way things are going, and have gone in the past, it was better to be safe than sorry. I pulled out my Pokedex and did a quick scan. I had Probopass, but I have so many Pokémon and it was so long ago that I don’t really know much about it, at least not as much as Rex.

Nosepass – the compass Pokémon. Nosepass are small blue Pokémon that are about three feet in height and weight anywhere between two hundred pounds to two hundred and fifty pounds. They know the abilities Sand Force, Sturdy, and Magnet Pull. Their noses can function as electromagnets that point north. They cannot face each other since they all have the same polarity. Nosepass's magnetism is stronger in cold seasons. It usually stands in one spot with its nose pointing north. It's said to be unmoving, but it actually can shift slightly. When endangered, Nosepass may protect itself by raising its magnetism and drawing iron objects to its body.

“Interesting enough I suppose.” I said, trying to sound excited about this battle, but I honestly didn’t really wanted to go through with it. I took a deep breath and tossed Mindbender’s Pokeball out in front of me. She emerged from the sphere and faced Nosepass. Her elegant white ball room gown was blown slightly to the left due to a small breeze.

“Alright Mindbender,” I said telepathically. “We need to try and do this as quickly as possible, you know the drill. This Nosepass shouldn’t be too much trouble for you to handle. I want you to start off with something simple. Use Energy Ball, don’t hold back. I highly doubt you’ll knock it out. Besides, my Pokedex says it can have the ability Sturdy, which prevents it from being knock out in one blow anyways, so don’t be afraid to hold back.”

“That’s it? Then what? You usually have my throw in Will-o-Wisp or even maybe Hypnosis.” She giggled. “Shall I add Will-o-Wisp as well?”

“Ehh, why the hell not. I guess that can make it go faster. If you can, before he hits you, use Will-o-Wisp as well.” Shadow moved behind me, laid down, and closed his eyes. He knew I would be using him next, so he was going to rest a bit since he didn’t sleep much last night. He was probably too excited about this run.

Mindbender moved forward a bit and cupped her hands together. A small light greenish yellow orb formed between her hands. It got brighter as it grew. Once the radiant orb was a decent size, she would launch it at Nosepass. Since Nosepass was part Rock type, this move would be super effective and do some major damage.

Will-o-Wisp was a slightly like Shadow’s Ember attack, but blue. It was just blue incredibly hot flames that would burn on contact and do continuous damage to Nosepass if the attack landed. She was quite good at making this sort of attacks hit, but sometimes things don’t always go our way. I was hoping this wasn’t one of those times.

Nosepass would make an excellent collection to the basics edition of my group. I already had a lot of them, this one would just make it more interesting. I wasn’t sure exactly what moves a Nosepass knew, so I wasn’t sure what to expect it to attack Mindbender with. Whatever it was, I hoped that Will-o-Wisp would weaken it if it hit. That would save her from using too much energy healing herself later on. I was sure that I would have to use Mindbender again sometime soon… so long as more good Pokémon come my way. If not, then I was just going to have to settle for whatever I got.

“Why not.” He said. “I guess I’ll capture this Pokémon. I don’t know if I’ll find anything else of interest today so I might as well capture this just in case.”

I was genuinely surprised as Leo voiced out that he would capture the Nosepass. Most people would just pass up on it since Nosepass were not one of those rare or powerful Pokemon, but this is a collector we are talking about after all. The Pokemon that he is after are bound to be different from other trainers. Most probably he had wanted the Nosepass for the Pokedex record instead.

Just as I thought about it, he pulled out a Pokedex and pointed it towards the Nosepass. The generic information was spoken in a robotic voice. After that, Leo pulled out a Pokeball, which I assumed he was going to send his other Pokemon into battle instead. I think it was a Gardevoir... As he tossed the ball and the Pokemon was released, I nodded my head in agreement that it was a Gardevoir.

I waited for Leo's command as I watched the battle; I was already intrigued by these. After a while of what seemed like eternal silence, the Gardevoir began cupping her hands and a small emerald-green orb had materialized from her hands. I realized that Leo must have gave his commands telepathically and started to begrudge him. Perhaps I should have bought a Psychic-type Pokemon as well, that way I would understand their communication.

While the energy was still forming, the Nosepass started rushing towards Gardevoir to my astonishment. The wild Pokemon definitely seemed very impatient and couldn't wait to get a hit on Gardevoir right at the start of this battle. Regardless, Gardevoir shot the attack towards Nosepass, which I had recognized as an Energy Ball attack. The Nosepass meanwhile, was just rushing towards Gardevoir without much concern about the attack.

Obviously, the Nosepass got struck by the Energy Ball and it winced in pain briefly. The attack must have dealt a great deal of damage for I had noticed Nosepass was momentarily stopped in its track and it started walking around in circles, as if it was dazed by the attack. Leo's Gardevoir was not going to waste any time however, and followed up with a barrage of flame wisps that floated towards the Nosepass.

The Nosepass finally seemed to get a hold on itself and started charging towards Gardevoir again. It seemed to charge faster than before and it certainly did not look happy. As it charged by walking quickly but rigidly like a robot, the wisps missed the Nosepass by an inch. I wasn't expecting for the wisps to miss, but things like this do happen sometimes. Finally, it jumped and landed right in front of Gardevoir, activating a slight tremble in the cave. I was beginning to wonder if that was even an attack, when rocks started to fall from the ceiling onto Gardevoir.

That was not the end of it. Most of those rocks were rather small-sized but one is particularly was quite large, like a boulder. At this point, Nosepass' body was surrounded in a blue silhouette and the large boulder instantly shattered into numerous shards to rain onto Gardevoir. That had seemed to be a Rock Throw, followed up by a Rock Slide. The Nosepass seemed to be particularly vengeful ... it was probably angered by the earlier Energy Ball.

I was quite content with Mindbender’s performance, despite her missing Will-o-wisp. She did a lot of damage to Nosepass, which was what I wanted. Will-o-wisp was something I was hoping for, but it wasn’t something that I really needed right now. Mindbender did what she needed too with her Energy Ball attack, which went off way better than I thought or was hoping for. I was really proud of her. She always knew how to deliver just the right amount of damage to her opponents without knocking them out. It was now time to whither it down to as low health as I possibly could. Wasn’t going to be easy, but I was sure that it could be done quickly. I just needed to think my next plan through carefully, but rapidly. I wanted to try and attack before Nosepass did, that would probably give us the upper hand that we need to slow him down. Nosepass was already a slow Pokémon, but making him slower would just make things better for us. There were several ways that Mindbender could slow him down, but I needed to see which one would be the best for this situation.

She could easily use Thunder Wave to paralyze Nosepass to make him incredibly slow, but his magnetism would probably prevent any electrical attacks from working effectively on him. I didn’t really want to risk that chance. In fact, I was sure Nosepass knew Thunder Wave, he could just as easily use that on me, which would actually be better because of Synchronize, Mindbender’s ability. Synchronize was an ability that made the opponent take whatever status effect they used successfully on you to go on them as well.

She also knew Imprison, which could temporarily disable Nosepass. That would slow it down momentarily. She could also use Charm to do the same thing. She could also hold him down with Psychic. The most effective way to slow him down seemed to be Hypnosis, but I didn’t want to put him to sleep yet. That would not work for me yet. Or perhaps that was just what I needed. I wasn’t sure, I was beginning to get a headache and I didn’t know why. Perhaps it was the heat from this area.

After thinking it through, I decided that I would have Mindbender use Icy Wind to get him to temporarily let his guard down and slow down. Then I would have her use Hypnosis to put him to sleep. Hypnosis was a hard move to use and to get to work. If she messes up even in the slightest bit, the move could misses or fail entirely. That is why I was buying her time by having her use Icy Wind. That would probably slow him down enough for her to do her thing and put the large nosed Rock Pokémon to sleep. If and when she successfully did this, Nosepass would practically be captured. I would probably only need to tap Nosepass lightly after that and throw my Superball. This would all have to be timed perfectly for it to work successfully. If not, she would take even more damage. She already took a lot from the two moves that Nosepass used. More damage than I had expected or thought was possible this early in the battle. He was one hard Rock.

“Okay Mindbender, this is the plan.” I began to say telepathically. “I want you to try and slow him down with Icy Wind. This time, you aren’t trying to do major damage. I just want you to slow him down. Give it a little juice, but the main goal is for you to slow him down so that you can use Hypnosis. I want him asleep since we couldn’t get him burned. Hopefully that works better than the last status effect.”

“Yeah, I will get that done. You can count on me!” Mindbender replied.

“I know I can, I always can rely on you.” I said. Icy Wind was just flakes of ice that froze slightly on the opponents skin which caused them to be slowed in movement. Hypnosis was just small rhythmic pulse waves that caused the opponent to fall asleep. That was what I was hoping would happen here. If that would happen or not, we would soon find out. Mindbender could do it, I believed in her. She wouldn’t let me down, even if she didn’t put him to sleep she would still make me proud. I would just have to improvise at that point if Hypnosis failed.

Leo had took a while to think before sending a next command. He was probably taking it really carefully, for choosing the right moves and execution has a great deal to do with how much potential damage would your Pokemon receive and affect the speed of the battle as well.

After a while, Gardevoir had raised up her hands again in a cupping position, and pushed it forward. A blast of icy cold particle was shot out from within and it blew towards the Nosepass. The Nosepass was rushing towards Gardevoir again, and took the brunt of the attack. I noticed that the strength of that attack was rather weak though and it was highly possible that Gardevoir was told to weaken the strength of her Icy Wind. The Nosepass shuddered for a while before stomping hard on the ground again. I started to wonder if Nosepass had only knew these few moves and I watched as the same thing happened; rocks dropping down onto Gardevoir like before.

I couldn't even tell if the attack was Rock Throw or Rock Slide, but judging by the damage received by Gardevoir whom seemed to just shrug it off, it was probably Rock Throw. It seemed to have done lesser damage this time as well. Nosepass is getting weaker perhaps. I watched as Gardevoir followed up with a Hypnosis, creating several hoops of magenta circles and they floated towards Nosepass. I knew that Hypnosis was an incredibly inaccurate move but times like these where the opponent's movement is hindered by Icy Wind, the accuracy of the move actually has a high chance of being increased.

As expected, the Nosepass tried to move sideways to avoid the Hypnosis circles narrowly but failed. The Hypnosis attack made contact with Nosepass and it looked as if it had been sucked into Nosepass body. The Nosepass then fell to the ground soon after that, and started snoozing away. I would say this battle has been going smoothly so far. A capture would probably happen soon.

Mindbender had preformed her technique flawlessly. That was exactly how I wanted her to do it. Nosepass was slowed down because of Icy Wind and therefore easily put to sleep because of that. Her Hypnosis had a better chance of landing because of that decrease in speed. I was quite impressed with her performance. She just needed to attack Nosepass now with another small damaging move and we could capture it without any problems. Wasn’t sure how or what move yet, but it would have to be something incredibly weak. Something that would not do more than fifteen percent damage to Nosepass. I just wanted him hurt a little bit. Judging by the way he looked, I would say that Nosepass had around twenty five percent of health left. Now that was an estimate, but it seemed rather accurate in my opinion. If I was right, Nosepass would not get knocked out by the next move. If I was wrong, then I would have just wasted time with that battle because if he was knocked out, then I would not be able to capture Nosepass according to park rules. I never really understood that rule, but I just followed it.

Mindbender had many small damaging moves, but which would be good in this situation was something I had to think about, and fast. I did not want Nosepass waking up before I even got to throw my Superball, or attack it for that matter. I reached into my bag quickly and pulled out a Soothing Fragrance Max. I opened the container and released the contents inside. It smelt rather nice, like coconuts mixed with strawberries and pineapple. The fragrance drifted over towards Nosepass. That was supposed to make him easier to catch.

I figured the best move for Mindbender to use was her Hidden Power attack. Her Hidden Power type was Fire. Fire type moves were something that Nosepass resisted. It would do the least amount of damage and probably be the move that had the least chance of waking him up. It was worth a shot to try anyways. If he woke up, I would just have to try to use a different status effecting move, but I would also have to be careful in not having Mindbender take any more damage than she already took.

“Alright Mindbender, use your Hidden Power attack.” I said. “This should be the final move and then I can capture it.”

“Understood.” She replied. With that she began forming small whitish red orbs around her body. She wasn’t going to make them too big, probably about the size of half a baseball. Once that was created, she would throw it at Nosepass, then I would throw my Superball at Nosepass. It all came down to this.

After a short while of silence, albeit shorter than before, Leo finally did something. He took out a bottle capsule from his bag and I had instantly recognized those as the fragrances that you can purchase from the store. These fragrances are pretty handy as they make captures much more easier by settling the Pokemon down. The fragrance drifted over to Nosepass and I had already smelled it all the way from here. It was something Hawaiian-like, and smelled like coconuts mixed with pineapple. Nosepass started to smile in his sleep and seemed more settled than ever.

“Alright Mindbender, use your Hidden Power attack.” He said. “This should be the final move and then I can capture it.”

I think it was the very first time in this battle that he has spoken a command. I waited for his Gardevoir to perform the attack, just so I can see what type of Hidden Power it is, out of curiosity. I remembered it was stated in his stats that I had received from Headquarters, but I honestly can't remember or notice these minute details.

This time, Gardevoir created small orbs of energy around her body instead. They were numerous spheres of a much smaller-sized as compared to the Energy Ball and they glowed red this time. I assumed that it was probably a Fire-typed Hidden Power and watched as the Gardevoir threw the attack towards the unsuspecting Nosepass.

The attack caused Nosepass to flinch a bit, but he was still fast asleep and didn't look like he was going to wake up anytime soon. After that, Leo quickly tossed a Super Ball, a higher-tiered PokeBall as compared to the usual Park Ball. The ball enveloped Nosepass within the all-so-familiar red beam and easily captured it without much difficulties. I went forward and picked up the Super Ball and put it in my bag as per park rules, since trainers weren't allowed to get access to their captured Pokemon immediately.

I looked around the area we were in. The heat of the battle had already made me forget about my surroundings. There was a bridge ahead and we had to walk past a lava pool to get on the other side. I led him forward and wondered if Snorlax's weight would pose any danger to us. I started to question if I should temporarily retrieve him into his PokeBall first. My thoughts were broken, as a Cranidos appeared out of nowhere.

    "Do you want the Cranidos?"

The Superball landed on Nosepass just moments after Mindbender put him to sleep. Nosepass was successfully captured after that. I was quite content with how the battle and outcome turned out. I, once again did the battle as quickly as possible. Now I was going to let her rest a bit before I called upon her to do battle again. I returned her to her Pokeball and gave my ranger the okay to move on. We didn't get far before my next opponent appeared. Unfortunately, it was a Cranidos and I had no intentions of obtaining one right now.

"Do you want the Cranidos?" He asked me.

"No thank you my good sir. Shall we move on?" I said, preparing then Pokedoll.

I nodded my head and proceeded to cross the bridge. The Cranidos started getting hostile though and was following us past the bridge. I was a little worried if the Cranidos was hostile enough to break the bridge or anything like that. Upon seeing that Cranidos has not left us alone, Leo quickly threw the PokeDoll that he was holding, stopping the Cranidos from following us.

We managed to walk past the bridge successfully without any trouble and there was no longer any lava pool here. I figured out it was better this way as well since there was really no point in wandering near areas where Fire-type Pokemon might appear, since Leo had used a Fire-type repellent. We didn't manage to get any further before a wild Sandshrew has appeared. He was probably not interested in this Pokemon.

    "Eh want a Sandshrew?"

Unfortunately, Cranidos did not leave us alone. I never got why certain Pokemon could not take hints and leave me alone whenever I didn't want to battle them. Some of them where just so hard headed. I sighed and tossed my Pokedoll before he could follow us any farther. I didn't really like wasting them, but at least they were cheap.

Our next encounter wasn't any better. It was a Sandshrew.

"Eh want a Sandshrew?" He asked me. I just shook my head and hoped I wouldn't have to use another Pokedoll.

Leo did not reply this time, and simply shook his head. Times like these, I really could not help but feel bad for my trainers, especially the experienced ones. There was nothing much I could do to help, when the Pokemon that they encountered are rather lame. That's part and parcel of the Park, I guess.

We continued moving forward in the dark cave. There was a lack of light source here as compared to before, but at least the air was no longer smoky and smelled of burned log in lava. We walked past a small boulder on our right, and upon closer inspection, there seemed to be red rubies on it. Treasures in a cave? That almost never happened in the Park.

I led my trainer closer towards the boulder to inspect it, when the boulder started to move instead. I got a shock as I pushed back against Snorlax, before realizing that it was just a Boldore. These Pokemon easily camouflaged into the surroundings, and the red crystals on its body resembled rubies closely.

"Doubt you would be interested in a Boldore?"

The Sandshrew left us alone without any bother. It was Pokemon like this that I liked. They knew when you didn't want to battle them and left you alone. I hoped I would encounter more like this... Or perhaps less and more good Pokemon. We continued down the path and into a cave. Once inside, my ranger noticed something. I wasn't paying attention to what he was saying, but next thing I knew, a Boldore was standing before us.

"Doubt you would be interested in a Boldore?"

"Yeah, I'll pass on this too." I said, ready to move on.

"Yeah, I'll pass on this too." He said, ready to move on.

We were both ready to move on, but the Boldore simply took a roundabout to stand right in front of us again. It was staring at us like it was studying us. Very quirky and bizarre. The eyes of the Boldore sort of reminded me of a Bidoof now. Unfortunately, this Boldore was not going to leave us easily without any form of distraction. Leo had no choice but to throw another of his PokeDoll towards the Boldore and we promptly left the area.

    ...

Or not. We couldn't even take another step, when something popped out from the ground underneath. I realized that it was a Diglett, and wondered if we are going to need another PokeDoll for this Pokemon too. The Boldore meanwhile, being as weird as I had expected, was studying the PokeDoll from all directions by circling around it repeatedly. Talk about a bizarre distraction.

"Diglett for you?" I said unenthusiastically.

Boldore was one of those annoying Pokemon that I wanted to punch for not leaving me alone. However, being a Rock type Pokemon means I would hurt myself more than I would hurt him. He would probably just laugh it off. It would be but a tickle to him. I tossed over a Pokedoll, but before we went anywhere, a Diglett emerged.

"Diglett for you?" he said unenthusiastically.

"No Sir, I will pass this up too. I just recently traded for a Dugtrio. It costed me more than I wanted to spend. I regret doing that deal how. Anyways, let's pass this up. I want to see what else will come my way.
