    I could feel the coolness radiate from the gentle waters of the Great Lakes. It was a definite pleasure, compared to the loads of Mount Deckbi runs I had been on recently, especially when you took into account the fact that I -loathed- heat. Like, with a violent passion. Thankfully I had managed to snatch this run before any of the other Rangers could, which was why I found myself laying luxuriously on the grass next to the water. I wasn't exactly near the gate, but it was within eyeshot and earshot, so I'm sure I'd catch the Trainer when he arrived.

    My Swampert, Smash, was swimming in the lake, diving and barrel-rolling and generally just having a grand old time. He was my Starter Pokemon, and he'd never really grown up. Then again, the prevailing opinion back at Ranger headquarters was that I hadn't either. Smash had helped me out on Deckbi by keeping my Trainer and I comfortable, if not cool, and bringing him to relax in the Lakes was my way of saying "thank you".

    The nagging voice at the back of my head that I had nicknamed "little Ivy" was telling me that I really should be reviewing the Trainer's file before he arrived. I waved this off with the excuse that it was always more fun to learn about the Trainer and their Pokemon in the moment. Besides, the information was all there if I wanted it. All I had to do was wait for him to arrive.

    OOC: @ChainReaction01 Sorry thought I sent them. Water Absorb on Lapras and Motor Drive on Electivire
    --------------------

    I have walked for days to reach the Front Gate to the Great Lake. It took a while for the temperature to change but once it did I surely felt it. I was finally able to remove my heavy coat and carry it in my arms. I knew soon I was getting closer to my destination because I felt a cool breeze. It wasn't it was cold yet again. It was because of the water close by. The sun was finally out, which made for the best day. I'm normally from the cold mountains and I really needed this nice day to rejuvenate my spirits. However, this isn't a vacation. This is pure business. I needed to focused.

    As I got closer I saw the front gate to the Great Lake but it wasn't the only thing I saw. I saw a figure laying by the water and what appeared to be a Water Type playing. I continued to walk and was able to confirm that indeed there was a Water Type playing but I still wasn't able to make out what was laying by the water. I decided to give up on trying to figure out what it was and kept walking. As I was finally walking past what I couldn't make it, I figured out it was a person. But then I stopped dead in my tracks. Those colors.... I thought. I walked back over to the person resting and stood behind them and observed.

    It was indeed a person and the Pokemon wasn't wild other wise it would have gone on unless it was trying to get the person's attention, which it was failing at. The colors of the trainer's uniform were that of a Ranger. I stood in my stop for about 5 minutes waiting to see if either would notice me. The Pokemon was too busy playing while it's trainer was relaxing to much. Finally, I decided to open my mouth.

    "Rangers and their Pokemon should be lazy. It'll make them rusty and cost them."

    In the back of my mind I knew that I was dozing, but the weather was just so pleasant that I couldn't force myself to care. I was sure that I'd hear the Trainer approaching, or that they'd wake me up when they arrived. As it turned out, I was wrong on both accounts. A voice rather suddenly sent my eyes flying wide open.

    "Rangers and their Pokemon shouldn't be lazy," it said. "It'll make them rusty and cost them."

    I looked to my side and saw a man holding a heavy coat in his arms looking disapprovingly down at me. Immediately two different and opposing voices screamed out inside my head. Little Ivy was telling me that he was right, it was unprofessional for a Trainer to be greeted by a sleeping Ranger, and that I should be polite at almost all costs. Her opponent countered with the observation that if this guy wasn't going to be polite I shouldn't have to be, and furthermore I worked really hard and deserved a nap every once in a while. After a couple of seconds, they unhappily reached a middle ground.

    "I think you'll find it'll take quite a lot to surprise me," I replied, forcing a smile and hoping that he didn't choose to point out that he had surprised me not one minute ago. I got to my feet and dusted a few errant blades of grass off my uniform. My hand reached for my PokeBall to recall Smash, but I decided against this; Smash wasn't hurting anything and if I needed him calling out would bring him almost as fast as summoning him from his ball. Besides, one of us might as well be having fun.

    A small blue Pokemon waddled up to us on its hind legs and yapped curiously. It had a long flat tail and big eyes. "Here's your first Pokemon of the day, a Wooper," I said to my Trainer. "Interested in battling it?"

    The Ranger was startled to reality after I had spoke up. He had paused for a couple of seconds to look me over. I had hoped that his little "relax time" hadn't turned his mind into mush and had figured out rather quickly that I was the Trainer that he was going to be escorting. After all, I had been told in the last town that I had stopped in that my Ranger would be waiting for my by the Front Gate to the Great Lakes. As he laid there for a moment, I could help but think how goofy my Ranger looked. I had been under the impression that Rangers were suppose to look tough and be serious. This Ranger seemed a bit too...small, for a lack of a better word, to be a Ranger.

    "I think you'll find it'll take quite a lot to surprise me," my Ranger stated. I knew he was full of it due to his moment of silence because anyone could have heard the sound of his heart dropping to the bottom of his stomach. I watched as he brushed himself off. I found it odd that he didn't want to recall his Pokemon. Especially a Pokemon that seemed to be so unwell trained. However, I knew if I wanted to make it through this run I had to keep my mouth shut about it and move on.

    We didn't even get started before a small blue Pokemon came waddling up to us. A Wooper it was. I had no need for one since I already had a Quagsire waiting for more training in the Mountains.

    "A Wooper is nothing special. Let's move on."

    "A Wooper is nothing special. Let's move on," the man replied.

    "Uh, no worries," I responded. "Sorry little dude, not today," I said to the Water-type. The Wooper stuck its tongue out at the Trainer and waddled off towards the Ranger Outpost, no doubt in an attempt to beg treats from whoever was in there.

    I walked over to the edge of the lake and called out for Smash. The Swampert emerged from the depths to float on the top of the water with a huge grin on his face. He flew through the water like a bird in the air, but he was built substantially stronger than any Flying-type I had ever seen, with the possible exception of a Gyarados.

    "We're going to be heading off now, make sure you say within earshot," I said to my Pokemon. He yapped agreement and died back under the water, disappearing inside of a couple seconds. Almost as soon as he left, a small red fish Pokemon swum up to eye me disinterestedly.

    "We were never properly introduced," I said to the man, turning to look him in the eyes. "My name is Chainy. What's yours? And are you interested in battling this here Magikarp? It might not look like much now, but I've seen what they evolve into. My younger brother has a Gyarados, one of the ugliest brutes you've ever seen but it has a real sweet disposition."

    "We were never properly introduced. My name is Chainy. What's yours?" The Ranger had asked. I looked at him oddly that he even bothered to ask but before I could get a word out he kept his mouth moving by asking if I were interested in a Magikarp. What a strange person he appeared to be. I couldn't figure out why he wanted to know my name and I seriously thought he was a bit wild in the mind. I just stopped and looked at him.

    "You have a bit of ADD don't you?" I couldn't help but ask. "My name is Roark, not that it matters. I also know what a Magikarp is. I've been a trainer since you were still in diapers. Just gotta figure out if I can catch it without knocking it out." I admit him acting like I was a newbie set me off but I did my best to brush it off after my comment. Now I had to focus. I had to figure out what to use without missing the chance at the Pokemon.

    Any one of my Pokemon can easily take out that weakling. I have to weaken it without the KO. The only thing I could think of was Electivire.

    I reached for my belt and grabbed the Pokeball. I tossed it up in the air and out comes a big yellow Pokemon with a seriously mean look. "Electivire! Come here." I called for my Pokemon so I can converse with it quickly. "See that Magikarp over there? I want you to go to the waters edge and use your Thundershock just enough to stun it. For the love of God don't over kill like you normally do."

    Electivire gave off a grunt and walked over to the waters edge. I knew the strength of Electivire but he doesn't seem to care if he over does it. He knows he's powerful and he will show it. I watched as he walked over to the waters edge and looked over the fish Pokemon. He looks back at me, making sure this is what I was wanting. I gave my nod of approval to my Pokemon. Electivire knelt down at the waters edge and begun his attack.

    OOC: @DarknessRuler; Magikarp Gender?

    ~~~~~
    The Trainer looked at me really oddly, with a tilted head and one eye half-closed. "You have a bit of ADD don't you?" he asked.
    I was baffled. When had I ever shown any amount of hyperactivity? If anything, he should be accusing me of being on the other end of the scale, since I had been sleeping when he arrived. Hyperactive people didn't often nap in the middle of the day. Before I could refute his assumption, he charged on.
    "My name is Roark, not that it matters. I also know what a Magikarp is. I've been a trainer since you were still in diapers. Just gotta figure out if I can catch it without knocking it out."
    Now it was my eyes' turn to narrow. This Trainer was definitely not going out of his way to be ingratiating. While that might normally be offensive, it didn't actually bother me; it just meant that I didn't have to be polite back. Even Ivy agreed with that. Another interesting point was that Roark was apparently much older than he looked. I was in my mid-twenties, so someone who claimed to be catching Pokemon since I was born would have to be at least fourty, and Roark certainly didn't look that old. It was a definite chance that he was bluffing to be cool, but I decided to reserve judgment.
    Roark summoned out an Electivire. It roared, glad to be free of its prison. This Electivire seemed nothing like my brother's. Kai was a gentle giant, elderly and wise (for his species). While he retained his love of battle, it was definitely diminished from how he had been in his youth. This Electivire looked like it could fight for a week straight. Furthermore, it looked like it wanted to.
    "See that Magikarp over there? I want you to go to the water's edge and use your Thundershock just enough to stun it. For the love of God don't over kill like you normally do," Roark ordered his Pokemon.
    The huge shaggy yellow beast plodded over to the lake edge and clenched his fists. The crackle of electricity filled the air, and the Electivire growled as it sent a single bolt of electricity from the black tail leads on its back into the water. The bolt entered the water and spread out in the shape of a spider's web. The Magikarp was successfully electrocuted, and I was impressed by Roark's choice of move. If the Electric attack had been a strong one, he might have hurt other Water-types in the area, and that would have been worthy of a strike.
    The Magikarp floated limp in the water for a second, but then it perked up and started swimming towards the Electivire at high speed. It jumped out of the water and turned on its side, aiming for the Electric-type's face. There was a meaty smack as the fish used its body to slap the Electivire right on its face. The look on Electivire was so offended and even mortified that I couldn't help burst out laughing. The fish plopped back into the water, ready for the next round of attacks.
    OOC: @ChainReaction01; Male would be nice :) FYI ADD doesn't have anything to do with being hyper just attention spans =P
    ----------------------
    I watched in horror as Electivire's perfect yellow color turned to red. In the background you can hear the laughter of the Ranger. I could feel Electivire felt angry on top of embarrassed. Electivire quickly turned to the Ranger and glared at him. If there was one thing you didn't want to do that's making Electivire angry. The last person that did ended up in the hospital with broken bones.Uh oh, I thought. This is going to get bad a quickly!
    There was a bit of distance between us but I was ready to run for it if I had to. I noticed that the more the Ranger laughed, the angrier Electivire got. " It was then he couldn't take it anymore. He turned to the Ranger and squatted in a start off position. His glare tightened and focused on the Ranger and he flexed his muscles through his yellow fur. Electivire dug his feet into the ground and then in a loud grunt jolted off towards the Ranger. I didn't have a moment to lose.
    "Get out of the way!!!" I ran as fast as I could towards the Ranger and try to step between him and Electivire. But the distance between us was too great. I only had one choice left and that was to knock down my own Pokemon. I pushed harder and harder, trying to get to Electivire in time. In a last ditch effort I knocked him over with a tackle.
    "No Electivire! Calm yourself!" I ordered my Pokemon. I did my best to wrestle with Electivire. I knew better than to stand in his way of a rampage with him but I didn't have a choice in the matter. I wasn't about to let his temper get us ejected from the park. He also knew not to anger me because his punishment would have been long hours of intense training with Rock and Ground Types. I finally managed to get ontop of Electivire and pin him down. He started to thrash about and growl at me.
    "I know you're angry Electivire but the Ranger isn't your enemy. You're opponent is that Magikarp that made a fool of you. Focus on him and only him!" Electivire laid there for a moment breathing heavily as he started to calm down and focus. "I'm going to let you up now. When I do go straight over to the water and give that Magikarp another thundershock but a bit stronger so that he knows you mean business. And if you charge at the Ranger again I'll switch you out and keep you inside your Pokeball for the rest of the run. Understand?" Electivire stopped his heavy breathing and nodded at me.
    I had let him up off the ground and walked over by the Ranger, just in case. Electivire stood up and looked towards the water and growled. As he made his way over to the water, I looked at the ranger. "You really shouldn't laugh at him. Try and contain yourself next time please."
    When Electivire got to the edge of the water, he took a fighting stance and started to charge his electricity a bit and then let it lose towards the wild Magikarp.
    OOC: @DarknessRuler; Roleplaying isn't about being correct, it's about being true to your character =P Which you are doing a great job of so far, I must say.
    ~~~~~

    I tried to stop laughing, but it was no good. The mortified expression on the self-sure Electivire's expression had just been too hilarious. It was honestly the funniest thing I had seen all month. I was so busy exploding with mirth that I barely heard my Trainer's warning yell. My eyes cracked open to see the Electivire pounding towards me, rage plastered all over its face. My mind immediately switched into action. I looked to the left to see that Smash was on the surface of the water, drawing in a deep breath. I knew that if that Electivire got too close to me, my Swampert could blast it away with a withering torrent of water. Smash might look like he was goofing off, but like me, he could switch from silly to serious in under a second.

    Thankfully, emasculating the Electivire further was not required. Roark managed to tackle the Electivire, sending both of them crashing into the dirt. To knock over such a heavy Pokemon would have taken some serious muscles; I filed this away for future reference, just in case. Both of them wrestled around for about half a minute before the Trainer finally got on top. Either he wasn't very good at controlling his Pokemon or this Electivire had some serious rage issues. I had never seen Jakk or Jathan had to physically subdue one of their Pokemon before.

    "I know you're angry, Electivire, but the Ranger isn't your enemy. Your opponent is that Magikarp that made a fool of you. Focus on him and only him!" Roark admonished the Electric-type. "I'm going to let you up now. When I do, go straight over to the water and give that Magikarp another Thundershock but a bit stronger so that he knows you mean business. And if you charge at the Ranger again I'll switch you out and keep you inside your Pokeball for the rest of the run. Understand?"

    The Pokemon slowly nodded, and Roark climbed down. His Electivire shot me a dirty look before plodding back over to the edge of the lake, where the Magikarp was swimming in lazy circles, apparently rather pleased with itself.

    "You really shouldn't laugh at him," Roark said to me. "Try and contain yourself next time please."

    "Sure," I replied, actively trying to suppress a smile. "However if your Pokemon don't have senses of humour I think you might be in for a bad day."

    I looked over to the Electivire as it started to charge up electricity once again. This time, the electric darts playing around his shoulders were much stronger, and they leaped into the water as opposed to being poured. The Magikarp jittered as it was electrocuted, and these shocks were definitely tiring it out. Still, my judgment said that it had one more big attack left in it, and I was right. The Magikarp descended into the depths of the lake as it waited for the electricity to wear off. All was silent for a half a minute. There was a sudden glimpse of red as the fish rose up to the surface at an amazing speed, and it flew straight up into the air. My jaw dropped as I saw how high the fish was; it was barely more than a speck in the air, and it appeared to be hanging there.

    OOC: @ChainReaction01; Well thank you Sir.
    ---------------------------------------

    "Sure," Chainy replied. "However if your Pokemon don't have senses of humour I think you might be in for a bad day."

    "He has a sense of humor but for him battles are serious," I explained. "Need to watch it before something bad happens."

    I stood on the side lines and watched Electivire increase his power and shock the Magikarp. With the increased power I had hoped that it would weaken him further and I was right. In a last ditch effort Magikarp had jumped into high into the air and changed it's course and headed straight for Electivire. I didn't have a moment to lose if I wanted to catch this Magikarp. So I grabbed my Park ball from my belt and ran over to Electivire's side.

    "Stand your ground Electivire! Plant your feet and don't move!" I ordered my Pokemon. I stood in place and waited. I needed Magikarp to be closer so my ball wouldn't miss him. As Magikarp flew closer to us, my grip on the ball tightened. I positioned my feet to a throwing position. The Magikarp had been picking up speed from it's decent so I had to time it right. When I saw the white in it's eyes, it was time.

    "Parkball, go!" I throw my Park ball at the wild Pokemon. As the ball flew in the air it hit the flying fish and then fell the to ground. I waited patiently as the ball rocked.....

I could at least understand that, my Metagross didn't have much laughter in him. That wasn't to say he had anger problems, he was just quite serious, and he always gave 110% in his battles. I recalled a time that he had used Hyper Beam and Flash Cannon in a single attack. Not only had his opponent fainted, but the building we were battling next to had been completely blown away.

    Slowly but surely, the Magikarp descended from the heavens. It was aiming its yellow crown squarely at the Electivire. Thankfully, it didn't strike the Electric-type's face; the point of contact was the Electivire's belly. The attack didn't appear to do much damage, in fact it turned out to be worse for the Water-type. It didn't have the energy to bounce back into the lake, so it was now flopping around on the ground. That was a perfect chance for Roark, and he took it. A Park Ball flew towards the fish, and it tapped the Magikarp's thrashing tail. The Wild Pokemon was absorbed in a flash of red light, and the ball started to wiggle on the ground. It was only a couple of seconds until the ball laid still.

    "Good capture," I said as I walked over to pick the ball up. I stowed it away inside the side pocket of my packroll. We didn't let Trainers hold onto their captured Pokemon until they left, just in case they tried to sneak more than three out. It had happened before, and bad feelings were always the result. It was just safer for us Rangers to take a more hands-on approach.

    As I dusted off my hands, I saw a small brown Pokemon asleep on the riverbank. Its hind legs were slightly submerged in the water with its body and head on the land. I pointed it out to Roark and asked him if he was interested in battling it.

    OOC; @ChainReaction01; I think I only have 1 Parkball now. I'll buy a doll if escape fails.
    ------------------------------

    I look over and see a sleeping Brown Pokemon and think for a moment. Sneaking up and attacking a sleeping Pokemon just to gain the advantage wouldn't be fun or very sportsy. There's really no honor in catching a Pokemon that way. I pulled out Electivire's Pokeball and returned him then kept walking down the river towards the lake. Trying to not walk too fast because I knew I had to keep the Ranger with me.

    "I'm sorry, but I don't attack sleeping Pokemon. Let's keep moving. Hopefully there will be bigger and stronger Pokemon up there. Let's go!"

    I admit I was in a bit of a rush. The Pokemon I've found so far really weren't worth much. Though Magikarp in the long run will be worth it but the others I didn't need or want at the moment. I was hoping for something....more.

    OOC: @DarknessRuler; Thanks for the catch, I miss those often. Deduct $500 for the doll please.

    Roark seemed less than interested in the Bidoof. He returned his Electivire to its ball, something that I was glad to see happen. I had yet to see any spark of humour in the giant yellow Pokemon's demeanour, despite Roark's claim to the contrary.

    "I'm sorry, but I don't attack sleeping Pokemon. Let's keep moving," Roark said. "Hopefully there will be bigger and stronger Pokemon up there. Let's go!"

    I nodded, and took off after Roark, who was walking quite quickly. Unfortunately for him, he stepped on an errant twig that made a rather loud sound as it crunched underfoot. The Bidoof's eyes opened and immediately latched onto us. Its mouth opened in a wide yawn and it plodded up to us. The Normal-type showed Roark a sleepy grin and it prodded at his leg with one of its little feet.

    "Looks like this one isn't going to leave you alone after all," I said to Roark. "If you really don't want to battle him, I can distract him with a PokeDoll but it'll cost you $500."

    Roark had no interest in the Bidoof, so he handed me the money and I pulled out a Clefairy-shaped plushie. I shook it to get the Bidoof's attention and then tossed it behind us. The Wild Pokemon galloped off after it, and I signaled Roark to move on.

    The sun was high in the sky now, and I found myself shading my eyes from its bright rays. Its position in the sky was just in the right position to get in my face in the direction that we were walking. A sudden shadow flickered across the incessant light source, and I moved my eyes to follow it. I noticed that a blue and white bird with a bright yellow beak was circling us, watching us closely. It had always confused me why Wingull chose to live around the Great Lakes instead of on the island's beaches but I didn't complain. We didn't usually take Trainers to the beaches, because they weren't very safe, and if the Wingull took up residence there their population count would explode.

    "Any interest in that Wingull?" I asked Roark, pointing up to the gliding bird.

    OOC: @ChainReaction01; I'll take another doll if I can't get away.

    I looked up and saw the Wingull. Something so small and weak with virtually no potential didn't interest me one bit.

    "Yea, no. I have no interest in that weak excuse for a Pokemon. Let's keep moving," I waved off the bird like it was nothing and kept walking. I honestly wasn't trying to walk to fast. Not my fault my Ranger was slower than a Shuckle. I was trying to keep an eye out for something stronger or at least something with better potential. Maybe a Staryu or Piplup. Hopefully, something grand will come along soon.

    OOC: @DarknessRuler; Yes, that doll is required. Another $500, please.

    ~~~~~
    Roark looked up and saw the Wingull circling above us. His eyes narrowed, and I knew what his answer was going to be even before he said it. "Yeah, no. I have no interest in that weak excuse for a Pokemon," he bit out. "Let's keep moving."
    The Wingull appeared to take issue with the Trainer's comment because it squawked angrily. Next thing I knew, a white smear was heading straight for Roark. I grabbed his shoulder and pulled him to the side as the excrement splattered on the ground. The Wingull squawked again, but this time it dove at us. I reflexively crouched low and the angry bird continually swooped us, keeping us from moving forwards. I waited for Roark to say that he wanted another doll, but I realised that since I was covering my eyes and the air was filled with angry bird screeches there was no way that Roark would be able to communicate with me. Acting on instinct, I pulled out another Clefairy doll and tossed it to the side, away from the lake. The Wingull immediately swooped off after it, chasing it into a particularly tall patch of grass.
    "Come on, let's get out of here before that Wingull gets back," I said to my Trainer.
    Roark apparently agreed, because he began striding off. I had to jog to keep up with him, but that was okay with me. Being swooped by angry birds was not a particularly enjoyable experience.
    After about five minutes, I was starting to tire. Not so much that I needed to rest, but enough that I would enjoy one. I cast my eyes around the waterline and saw a small bulbous Pokemon. It was attached to a rock, enjoying the warmth of the sun. It had small ripple-ey extensions on its back and there were a flowerlike structure on top of its head.
    "Any interest in a Shellos, Roark?" I asked.
    OOC: @ChainReaction01; I'm tell ya...heart to heart =P
    ---------------------------
    I stopped dead in my tracks and almost fell. Shellos....Shellos...., I thought to myself. I couldn't picture the Pokemon in my head. I turned to look and there on a rock laid a blue snail like Pokemon. I couldn't tell if it was asleep or not. I walked over but stayed back enough just in case. Let's face it, no one wants a giant snail attached to their face with their slime. I decided to back away and use Electivire to investigate that odd looking Pokemon.
    I summoned Electivire from his ball and pulled him off to the side. "Alright listen up. Your opponent is that Shellos over there," I explained to him while pointing out the blue Water Type. "He's going to be tougher than the Magikarp, thank god. You can't attack it straight off..."I got cut off by a thought running through my mind. I started to look around and finally found it. No more than 5 feet away there was a a nice long thick stick. I ran over and grabbed it then returned. "Use this to poke Shellos. Don't hurt it with the stick, you know better. But store some energy and if it attacks in an rage, shock it with a thunderbolt."
    Electivire took the stick and faced where Shellos was laying. It started to withdraw energy into its body, causing it to glow. My Pokemon had walked up Shellos and began to poke the wild Pokemon.
    ~~~~~

    Roark stopped as soon as I pointed the small Pokemon out. His eyes narrowed for a second, and then he reached for his PokeBalls. Once again, the Electivire was summoned in a flash of white light. Thankfully, he looked a lot calmer than he was before. Maybe Roark was right about his Pokemon's temperament.

    "Alright, listen up. Your opponent is that Shellos over there. He's going to be tougher than the Magikarp, thank God. You can't attack it straight off..." Roark trailed off, as he looked around on the ground. He suddenly darted off and snatched up a middle-size stick that had been laying underneath a bush. He handed it to his large yellow Pokemon.

    "Use this to poke Shellos. Don't hurt it with the stick, you know better. But store some energy and if it attacks in an rage, shock it with a Thunderbolt," Roark commanded.

    The Electivire looked disinterestedly at the stick, but plodded over to do as he was told. As a general rule (with some exceptions) Pokemon weren't very skilled in the use of tools, which was one of the major ways they were different to humans. However, poking something with a stick was easily done. As the Electivire padded closer, shaking the ground slightly as it did so, the Shellos opened its eyes and looked up calmly at the hulking behemoth. It displayed absolutely no fear whatsoever.

    Electivire prodded its base firmly but gently with the stick. The Shellos' body made a soft goopy sound as the Shellos' natural goo grasped and then released the dead wood. Electivire prodded it again, and the Shellos' eyes narrowed. The Wild Pokemon looked to me like it was pretty chill, but everyone had a breaking point.

    The third prod found it. The Shellos spat a thin, steady stream of mud right into the Electivire's face. Electric sparks crawled around the yellow Pokemon's skin, but they were shorted out by the patches of mud on the Electivire's shoulders and torso. I started to laugh again, but this time I successfully quashed it by ramming my fist against my mouth. It sure seemed like the Park was determined to throw smart-arse Pokemon at Roark.

    OOC: @ChainReaction01; Blue Male please.
    ---------------------

    As I watched Electivire poke and prod the blue snail-like Pokemon, I could begin to see that it was getting annoyed. It went from a chilled, laid back expression to one that was of the irritated variety. It became apparent that it was in deed awake and not happy with my big yellow friend. As it spat mud at Electivire, I couldn't help but allow my jaw to drop in awe of the guts this Pokemon had. First off, it managed to make me mad because I keep Electivire clean. A clean Pokemon is a happy Pokemon and now that happiness has gone away. Second, Electivire became infuriated with the fact that the little snail had the nerve to shoot mud at him and make him look ridiculous. I couldn't help but chuckle myself at how funny the situation was, despite the fact that I, myself, was in fact made the Shellos. Electivire shock both me and Chainy a glare. I looked down and away while the Ranger shoved his fist in his mouth to keep himself from laughing and making him the target of another attack by Electivire.

    After a moment I was finally able to gain my composure and keep on battling the wild Shellos.

    "Okay Electivire, let's focus! The mud will work to our advantage. Charge at Shellos and use Thunder Punch! With the mud covering you, it'll lower the amount of damage done to it." I gave the order for an attack.

    Electivire made a fist and started to charge his electricity as much as he could then began to charge at the ready for battle snail.

    ~~~~~
    To my surprise, as I held my hand pressed against my mouth, I saw that Roark was similarly attempting to muffle his chuckles, and that he was having markedly less success than me. It was good to know that the Trainer was escorting had a sense of humour buried somewhere. His Electivire on the other hand did not: it shot us both a dirty look, but at least this time it didn't try charging me.
    Finally, Roark managed to control himself. "Okay Electivire, let's focus!" he called out. "The mud will work to our advantage. Charge at Shellos and use Thunder Punch! With the mud covering you, it'll lower the amount of damage done to it."
    Electivire crouched low and held one fist in front of his body. Electrical sparks played around his wrist and moved upwards, slowly covering his entire hand. The sparks fizzed out when they hit a patch of mud, but there was still a decent coating. The large yellow Electric-type pounded towards the Shellos and struck out at it with a simple, quick jab. The Shellos was knocked backwards, and it hung in the air for a few seconds before falling into the water with a plop. The Water-type had definitely taken some damage, but I doubted that it would be feeling any real strain yet.
    Suddenly, a huge glob of mud shot out of the water. It arced through the air and landed in front of Electivire, exploding with the force of a stick of dynamite. Mud splattered everywhere, and it flew far enough that flecks even got on myself and Roark. I wiped away the dirt with a grimace. Now Electivire was in trouble: it couldn't even see the Shellos, and the amount of mud covering itself meant that any electric attacks would most likely fail outright.
    OOC: @ChainReaction01 I think Shellos needs its HP adjusted. If it took a hit last time, shouldn't it's HP be lower?
    ----------------------------------------------
    Roark noticed the rage in Electivire's eyes and knew this would not end well if something didn't happen soon. Roark didn't have long to think on the situation. He had to turn it back around in their favor. Seeing the mud on Electivire, he knew it had to get off of him so that he would be able to land a hard blow to Shellos. That's when Roark decided to use the water to his advantage.
    “Electivire, jump into the water and wash the mud off!” Roark order his partner. Electivire quickly jumped into the water and began to swim around as fast as he could to wash away the mud. Dunking his body in the water, the mud slowly began to wash off and making it easier to see its surroundings. Noticing that this was working, Roark started to work out another plan. Trying to fight land to water was in Shellos advantage since it can easily use ground attacks on Electivire, which being an electric type, was weak to them. So to try and avoid these ground attacks, Roark decided to keep Electivire in the water and see where exactly that would lead.
    “Electivire, let's keep this battle in the water! Swim towards Shellos and latch onto it. As soon as you do, give it a thunderbolt! Whatever you do, don't allow Shellos to use it's slim and slip out of your grip!”
    Electivire swam as fast as it could towards Shellos. As soon at it reached its opponent, it wrapped it's long arms and legs around Shellos. While struggling to maintain its grip on the wild Pokemon, Electivire placed a hand on its head and blocked the rear exit. Roark and Electivire underestimated the sliminess of Shellos. Just before it managed to squeeze through, Electivire had charged enough to unleash a thunderbolt.
