    OOC: Do you want me to @ mention you in each of my posts? Also, if you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

    ~~~~~
    I sat in my office chair, leaning back with my feet up on my desk. It was the day when my paperwork for the last month or so was due, but the stack of papers to my right was completed. I should probably go and file it away in the Archives, but I didn't feel like getting out of my chair. Besides, there were some scrumptious ladies wandering around, and my sunglasses were doing a fantastic job of keeping my eye movements hidden. It wasn't just the secretaries, either - Ivy, Elesa, and Makina were all looking fiiiiine.
    "Mmmm, I love me some white meat," I muttered to myself, grinning.
    I felt a whack across the back of my head, and I turned around in surprise. Ivy was standing there, holding a sheaf of papers in her hand, the other one propped up on her hip. She didn't look happy.
    "In case you haven't noticed, it's kinda busy in here," she told me, "and there's a couple runs needing to go through. Why don't you take this one and stop perving on everyone?"
    "I'm not perving on anybody," I protested weakly.
    Ivy gave me a glare and dropped the sheaf on my desk in front of me with a loud thud. I sighed and stood up languidly, snatching up the papers and walking outside. My Gallade was leaning against the wall, waiting for me.
    <Get kicked out again?> he asked, grinning.
    "Shut up," I replied, glancing at the folder. "We're off to the Valley, man. Would you do the honours?"
    Dual nodded, and the world slowly faded into endless blue. I felt the familiar jerk behind my gut as we both Teleported to the Meteor Valley entrance gate. If the Park was as busy as Ivy claimed it was, my Trainer was probably already there, waiting.
    OOC: @ChainReaction1 Sure, that would be cool. Sorry about the late post. This would've been up earlier, but it has been quite crazy weekend. Be sure to tell me if you think any of my RPing needs work along the way. Also, I apparently haven't the slightest clue on how to do mentions.
    ~~~~

    "I wonder who my ranger will be?" I asked to myself out loud. "I hope I'm in the right place. There can't possibly be that many outposts to Meteor Valley."

    I decided to sit on the floor against the wooden sign clearly saying where I was suppose to be and waited for my ranger to take me on my first run. Though I hadn't been waiting for too long, the pure anticipation of it all had me excited and and bit nervous. I reached into my backpack that had all the supplies to make sure I didn't forget anything.

    "Parkballs, camera, player with Gastly disc, flask; yep, looks like everything is here."

    I decided to take a quick sip from the flask to help me calm my nerves. It was filled with Jameson Irish Whiskey, which was by far my favorite type of whiskey. I hope my trainer didn't mind I was having a drink. I wasn't really sure about the rules of the park when it pertained to drinking. From the stories I've heard, it seems like they were somewhat lenient on certain things. I even heard rumors of a trainer who went on a park run, stripped down in front of the legendary Zekrom and did naked barrel rolls to appease the Pokemon. I wondered what I would've done if I came face to face with an outstanding Pokemon such as Zekrom. Honestly, the whole thing had me a bit more nervous.

    "One more sip, then I should put this away. I can't let my ranger thinking I'm some sort of alcoholic just sitting here and drinking."

    I took one more decent sized sip and slipped the flask back in my pack before my ranger could see me. I could feel it in my gut, he or she will be here any minute.

    "Ferali, I feel like our journey is gonna start soon," I said while reaching for the Pokeball that held my Feraligatr. "Come on out and keep me company."

    I tossed the ball a bit in front of me and after that familiar flash of white faded, a sky-blue crocodilian a cream colored v-shape across it's waist and three red tri-prongs on various sections across it's spine.

    "Good girl. Any minute now and we'll hopefully find some new friends to join us."

    OOC: No problem, I'm not the epic poster I usually am anyway xD I'll drop hints and give advice along the way, and don't worry about mentioning me - I automatically keep tabs on shiz.

    ~~~~~~
    I flew through a tunnel of swirling blue energies, being dragged forwards by an invisible force anchored in my gut. My Gallade was nowhere to be seen, but he followed faster and more effective trails through the strange dimension. Still, he always made sure that we emerged at our destination at the same time.
    Pictures and landscapes were just barely visible in the walls of the labyrinth as they whisked past. I saw rolling hills, a medieval church, a huge robot walking in a desert, and a large casino wreathed in lights. I was used to this - the wandering paths of this dimension intermingled with our own in different places and times. In fact, because of this I had once accidentally seen a part of my own conception.
    The blue began fading into bright white, and I knew I was almost there. The wildly twisting blue walls began to calm down and resolve themselves into a scene I recognised - the entry gate to Meteor Valley. The hook in my gut slowed down, and there was a white flash. I blinked my eyes a couple times, and I saw that I had indeed arrived. I shot a quick look at Dual, and he nodded before gesturing with his head behind me. I turned around to see a young man standing there with a Feraligatr. He was wearing camo-print jeans and a stylish top - all in all, a fairly average Trainer's outfit.
    I took a step forward and smelled something. I sniffed the air and grinned. "Jameson Irish, hey?" I asked. "Not bad - I'm fond of Crossbow Cider, myself. Welcome to the Park. My name is James Carter, but I go by Chainy for reasons I'd rather not explain."
    I clapped him on the shoulder in a friendly manner. "Alright, do you have any questions or should we just get moving?"
    OOC: @ChainReaction01 So that's why the mention didn't work last time, I forgot the zero.
    ~~~~

    Suddenly, there was a flash of blindingly pure white light. I quickly shielded my eyes.

    <I haven't even started my run and I'm already under attack?> I thought to myself. As the light faded away, there stood a fairly tall and thin young man. In an odd sort of way, he reminded me of an arrow. However, the thing that really caught my eye was his own eye. He had a nifty looking black thing over his right eye. I could only assume it was some sort of heat tracker; possibly even an aura reader.

    Accompany the ranger was a Gallade. I had never seen one up close before, and being in such an amazing creatures presence was surreal. Even though I choose to venture into the valley for some Ghost-type Pokemon, I definitely wouldn't have minded trying to capture a Ralts to train into my very own Gallade.

    "Jameson Irish, hey?" he asked. I couldn't decide whether he had an impeccable sense of smell, or if I had possibly drank enough to cast off that delightful scent. "Not bad - I'm fond of Crossbow Cider, myself."

    I've never heard of the drink, but it was definitely a relief to be paired with a ranger who seemed to favor a drink every now and then.

    "Welcome to the park," he continued. "My name is James Carter, but I go by Chainy for reasons I'd rather not explain. Alright, do you have any questions or should we just get moving?"

    "Well, Mr. Chainy, the only question I currently have is would you like a sip of some Jameson?" I asked my human compadre who would be accompany on this trek, reaching into my pack to retrieve the flask and Pokeplayer. "Besides that, I think it's time to get this show on the road!"

    I popped open the disc player and inserted my only disc; the one that had the word "Gastly" written across it. As I pushed play, haunting and ghastly howls began to emit from the player. <I should've taken another sip>

    ~~~~~
    "Well, Mr. Chainy, the only question I currently have is would you like a sip of some Jameson?" the young man pulled out a flask.
    "Sure, I'll take a hit," I said. I took the flask and had a couple gulps while the youth pulled out a Pokeplayer and a disk. I put the cap back on and handed it to him as he pressed play on the device. Spooky wails began emanating from the small circular device - it took me a couple seconds to recognise the sounds as Gastly calls.
    "Nice choice," I said, handing him the flask back.
    "I think it's time to get this show on the road," he said enthusiastically after storing away the flask again.
    "Sounds good, mister..." I took a quick look at the top paper sheet inside the manila folder, "Mercurius Badass?" My left eyebrow rose. "Nice name."
    I led Mercurius and his Feraligatr away from the Outpost, towards the wilderness of Meteor Valley. Before we got to the place where the path split up, I heard a strange yapping. I looked to my right and a blue Pokemon with a strange black tail was sitting on top of a large rock, swaying happily to a beat only it could hear. I pointed it out to Mercurius.
    "Interested in battling a Wynaut?" I asked. "I don't think it's seen us yet, so we might be able to slip away if you're not interested."
    OOC: @ChainReaction01 Indeed it will. Also, I believe I subtract money pre-doll, correct? 6,500 - 500 = 6,000
    ~~~~

    "Sure, I'll take a hit," said Chainy. I handed him the flask, thanking the stars once again that I lucked out and got such an awesome ranger. He took a few good gulps and then handed me back the flask. "Nice choice."

    Honestly, I'm not all too sure if he meant my choice of voice disk or alcohol choice. Which ever he was talking about, he was indeed correct. "I think it's time to get this show on the road," I said enthusiastically as I tucked the flask back in the pack.

    I gave a quick scan of the area. I took a quick glance at Chainy to see if he would take the lead. I couldn't really tell what he was doing; it looked like he was fiddling around with a folder. <How exactly does this work? Do I just walk ahead to try and find some Pokemon?>

    "Sounds good, mister... Mercurius Badass?" James Carter said very inquisitively. "Nice name."

    "Actually, it's pronounced Medericus, but it's a pretty weird name to say."

    However, he started walking away from the Outpost and into the mysterious beyond that was Meteor Valley. I'm wasn't sure if he heard me, so I just decided to follow him. Up ahead looked like where the path splits. There was this odd yapping sound coming off to the right. Chainy and I both looked over, and atop of some rocks was a blue Pokemon with an Unown-esque tail swaying back and forth.

    "Interested in battling a Wynaut?" asked Chainy. "I don't think it's seen us yet, so we might be able to slip away if you're not interested."

    "I'd look to avoid it if possible. If we can't get away, I'll buy one of those swanky dolls."

    I reached into my pockets searching for my wallet. I wanted to be prompt in paying the man if it came down to that. Either way, I wanted to get away from this adorable creature and find that Gastly. I held my finger over the button, waiting to press it. I didn't want to press play until we were away from the Wynaut.

    OOC: @CommBA Yeah, that's right.

    ~~~~~
    "Actually, it's pronounced Medericus, but it's a pretty weird name to say," Mercurius explained.
    "Yeah, you're telling me. Is it Greek or something?"
    Mercurius was busy contemplating the Wynaut. Apparently he wasn't too interested, though, because he asked to buy a PokeDoll. I nodded and handed a Clefairy-shaped plush toy to him, taking the wad of cash in exchange. He tossed the doll to the Wynaut, which immediately began bouncing up and down on top of it.
    I smiled and then turned my attention to the path. It forked into three directions. The left path went along a ledge carved into the canyon walls - not many Pokemon, and the ones that were there weren't very high-level. The middle path went straight down into the canyon, where the stronger Pokemon dwelled. Finally, the right-hand path went into the cave networks. A lot of the stranger Pokemon were found in there. Mercurius would know all this - at least, he would if he read the pamphlet.
    "So, which way would you like to go?" I asked him.
    Mr. Carter nodded and handed me a Clefairy-shaped plushy in exchange for the cash. I tossed the doll towards the Wynaunt and in the blink of an eye it was jumping all over it. I was glad it the doll went to such a pleasant Pokemon; I would've felt terrible for the inanimate object if it went to something more vicious.
    Now that we were done with that encounter, Chainy smiled at me and asked, "So, which way would you like to go?"
    I looked up ahead and dreaded the sight before me. There were three different paths: a path to the left that looked like it was a simple ledge carved into the canyon walls, a center path that went straight down into said canyon, and the rightmost path that went into the caves.
    <Ugh, it had to be three? If it was two I could simply just flip a coin to decide, but three? I wish I did more than skim the pamphlet. Something about the caves having the "stranger" Pokemon? As opposed to the not-so-strange Pokemon. The only way this decision can be reached is with some liquid courage and a precise form of picking.>
    I reached into the bag, pulled out the flask, and took a decent swig. "Alright, decision time," I said as I initially pointed towards the path to the right. "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, catch a Growlithe by the toe, if it Embers let it go, eeny meeny, miny, moe!"
    Surprisingly so, my finger landed on the path that it started with. "Well, I guess that settles it. To the caves we go!"
    Mercurius didn't respond for a second. He looked down all the paths with narrowed eyes before pulling the flask back out of his bag. He took a swig and then began reciting a quick rhyme, pointing his finger down a new path on every syllable. When the rhyme ended, his finger was pointing down the right-hand path, the one that lead to the caves.
    "Well, I guess that settles it. To the caves we go!" he announced.
    Yesssss, that's where my stash is, I thought, clenching my fists. Outwardly though, I just nodded and led him down the path. It was only like a five minute walk until the entrance to the underground system. When we reached it, Dual informed me that he was going to go and make sure it was safe. I knew that was a lie, but I let him go anyway. More than likely he was going to go and check out the local wildlife, the Gardevoir in particular.
    I waved Mercurius into the caves, and the visibility immediately dropped. It was almost pitch black - I could barely see five metres in front of me. I activated the beam-light on my visor, and a shaft of light fell onto the sheet of paper in front of me. None of Mercurius' Pokemon knew Flash, so I'd have to provide him with a light source. I pulled the spare torch out of my bag and handed it to him. He turned it on and a second beam of light lanced into the darkness. This beam, however, revealed a small yellow fox-like Pokemon that was watching us curiously through slitted eyes. I gasped.
    "Wow, an Abra. They're really rare. Feel like trying to capture it?" I asked Mercurius.
    OOC: @ChainReaction01 First battle, yaaaaaaay. Also, Abra shall be Male.
    ~~~~

    "Well, I guess that settles it. To the caves we go!" I declared. Chainy nodded at the decision and led the way down the path towards the caves. It was a pretty short walk; only about 5 minutes long. I looked around the scenery and took it all in. There was a gentle, cool breeze flowing through the crevices of the rocks and canyons that made up Meteor Valley. It was definitely a nice day to go for a run through the National Park.

    When we finally arrived upon our destination, Chainy’s Gallade went into the cave first. I couldn’t help by wonder if he was going in first to check out the safety of it all or if he merely wanted to scope out some lady Pokémon. James waved Ferali and me in. Though, as soon as we entered the cave, our visibility drastically plummeted. <Shit. I should’ve coughed up a little bit of extra dough and bought Flash for Golly like I was planning. That would certainly help this whole can’t-see-into-the-dark situation we’re in.>

    Chainy, however, seemed to be prepared for this type of situation. I couldn’t see how he activated it, but there was now a beam of light emanating from what seemed to be his visor. I shouldn’t have been so surprised; he was a Park Ranger after all. Being organized for things like this must be in the job requirements.

    “You wouldn’t happen to have a nifty light for me, would you?” I sheepishly asked him. I was a bit embarrassed that I didn’t come more prepared for this run, but I was determined to not let him see that side of me. Luckily for me, Chainy did in fact have a spare light. He pulled out a spare torch and handed it to me. “Thanks,” I said while fumbling with the light. I felt around for a button or switch, finally finding it and turning on the light.

    This second beam of light pierced through the darkness and landed on a yellow fox-like Pokémon that couldn’t have been more than three feet tall. “Wow, an Abra,” said Chainy. “They’re really rare. Feel like trying to capture it?”

    “Honestly, it wasn’t even on my list, but this is too good of an opportunity to pass up!” I exclaimed.

    I studied my current foe as it was watching us through those extremely narrow eyes. Abra always looked like they didn’t even have their eyes open, but I knew better than to assume that. The only problem now is how to battle something that could constantly teleport to gain the best vantage point. “Ferali, you’re up girl! I don’t know how we’re gonna do this, so let’s just do what we do best and wing this, ok? Try and prevent Abra from attacking you with Attract! After that, hit ‘em with a Water Gun.”

    Ferali looked at me excitedly. I can tell she was happy to receive the first chance to battle. The bulky Water-type crawled on all fours towards the center of the cave and faced the Abra. She then stood up on her hind legs and winked at the opposing Pokémon while blowing it a playful kiss. Light pink outlines of hearts began shooting out of its mouth towards the Abra. Before I could tell if the Attract had worked or not, Ferali went back into a quadrupedal position, opened her mouth just a bit, and then shot a spiraling stream of water towards the Abra. Water Gun wasn’t a particularly damaging move, but I also wasn’t out to do a whole lot of damage neither. Ferali and I both anxiously watched as the liquid jetted towards our Poké-foe, eagerly awaiting to see what the Abra responds back with.

    “Honestly, it wasn’t even on my list, but this is too good of an opportunity to pass up!” Mercurius exclaimed. I found it a little hard to believe that a Trainer had come to Meteor Valley without the intention of at least catching an Abra in passing - their fully evolved form, Alakazam, was extremely powerful and a common encounter in the professional leagues. Perhaps Mercurius was more like my friend, Leo, in that he went searching for one particular Pokemon, usually to the exclusion of all others.

    “Ferali, you’re up girl! I don’t know how we’re gonna do this, so let’s just do what we do best and wing this, ok? Try and prevent Abra from attacking you with Attract! After that, hit ‘em with a Water Gun.” my Trainer commanded.

    The huge reptile seemed happy at the chance to battle. It always amused me how anti-battling groups considered battling to be just as bad as backdoor animals fights, but most Pokemon liked battling, and did it because they wanted to. The Feraligatr got down onto all fours and crawled innocuously towards the Abra. Sinuously, she raised herself up slightly and winked at the Abra before blowing it a kiss. I could almost see little hearts rising off of the Water-type, she was trying that hard. Still, a Feraligatr coming onto me would scare me a hell of a lot more than one trying to eat me. The Abra didn't give off that impression, though. It was regarding the Water-type with a strange look, one that wasn't necessarily attraction, but was definitely at least admiration.

    Ferali reared up onto her back legs and took a step back. The Abra didn't make any movement - it was still watching Ferali ardently. The Water-type lowered its bottom jaw ever so slightly, and a spinning arrow of blue liquid gushed out of her maw, colliding into the Psychic-type and knocking it onto its side. The Abra shook its head and sat back up, using its surprisingly long tail to balance itself. Its arms raised towards Ferali, and small sparks and lines of electricity began to play about its claws. Before Ferali could react, the Abra clapped its hands together and a yellow beam of electricity shot towards Ferali. It struck her body, knocking her back a couple of steps, but that wasn't all it did. Some of the remaining sparks on the Abra's claws sunk through its skin, coating them in a glowing yellow aura, which looked very threatening in the darkness of the cave.

    OOC: @ChainReaction01 Sorry about the wait between posts. Alternating between writing this and writing a story so I don’t get too burned out on one or the other.

    ~~~~
    “Honestly, it wasn’t even on my list, but this is too good of an opportunity to pass up!” I exclaimed. Chainy looked at me with a bewildered look of disbelief. I’m sure he was finding it hard to believe that a trainer wouldn’t come to Meteor Valley and with at least some hope to capture at least one of the Pokémon from the Abra family evolutionary line. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad I ran into this one. I just only had my eyes set on capturing Gastly and everything else is simply a welcomed bonus.”
    <Oh, there’ll be plenty of time to talk about this later. For now, I should just focus my attention onto Abra.>
    “Ferali, you’re up girl! I don’t know how we’re gonna do this, so let’s just do what we do best and wing this, ok? Try and prevent Abra from attacking you with Attract! After that, hit ‘em hard with a Water Gun,” I shouted towards my faithful aquatic gator.
    The fairly big reptile was delighted to have the first battle. She crawled harmlessly to the center of the cave and faced her Psychic-type foe. She certainly didn’t want to scare of the yellow fox-like Pokémon before it began to execute her plan. Ferali then raised herself up slightly upon her hind legs and winked at the Abra while blowing it a kiss. Even little pink hearts began to expel themselves from the light blue crocodilian Pokémon. The Abra began to give the Water-type a strange look. I don’t know if I would call it attraction per se, but it was definitely something close to it.
    Ferali then prepared herself to let loose with a Water Gun. Normally, the opponent would fire back with an attack right about now. However, the Abra didn’t attack and continued to watch my Ferali. <Heh, looks like using that Attract is paying off so far. I wonder how much it’ll help in the long run?> Ferali, not wanting to waste this rare moment of non-attacking, lowered its mandible slightly and unleashed a spinning column of blue fluid from her opened mouth towards the Abra. The stream of water nailed the Psychic-type dead center, knocking it onto its side. However, the Abra didn’t fall completely on its side and used its long tail to rebalance itself back in an upright position. The Abra shook its head, probably in either displeasure that its new crush would do such a thing or maybe even to simply get the water out of its face. Whatever the reason, it looked like things were about to get started.
    The Abra began to raise its arms towards Ferali. I noticed small sparks and lines of electricity began to align its claws. <Shit, looks like an Electric-type attack is coming up. Ferali is gonna be too slow to dodge this. Well, at least I know what to do next.> Suddenly, the Psychic fox clapped its hands together and a bright yellow beam of electricity shot towards Ferali. The Electric attack struck Ferali in her body, knocking her back a bit. Sadly, Charge Beam wasn’t only capable of dealing damage, but also had a fairly high chance to increase the user’s Special Attack. The remaining sparks of electricity crackled and popped about before finally seeping into its skin. The Abra became coated in an ominous yellow aura, which looked even more threatening in the darkness of the cage. Just as I had feared, Abra did in fact receive the boost.
    “Heh, well, at least it’ll be easier to see Abra with that glow it’s giving off, ay Ferali?” I asked half-heartily to the bulky Water-type. I didn’t want her to get too nervous about the raise Abra received from the Charge Beam. I always felt like the best way to calm her down was with a little chuckle of an observation. Ferali seemed to respond to my comment. She looked back at me and gave a slight grin, or at least as close to a grin a giant bluish alligator can give. I especially didn’t want to worry her with my thinking up a storm of what to do next.
    <Ok, think. Abra are known to be terrible when it comes to Defense. So I gotta keep that in mind and not hit it too hard with physical attacks or I might knock it out. Well, I could lower Ferali’s Attack with Superpower so I wouldn’t need to worry so much about hurting it. It’s a Fighting-type move, so Abra will resist the move a bit. And if I find myself needing to bring her Attack back up, I could always use Hone Claws. Yeah, that’s what I’ll do.>
    “Ferali, use Agility to get up close and personal with Abra. Once you’re close enough, use Superpower.”
    Ferali began to gallop towards the Abra at high speeds leaving behind a streak of white light. If this plan works, Ferali will continue at these speeds and circle around the Abra. Once behind, she will pick up one of the nearby large boulders that are littered throughout the cave, lift it up, and chuck it towards the Psychic fox. There is no way I would be able to predict what Abra could do in between these moves. I only hope Ferali will be able to withstand its attacks. Or even better, if Abra becomes be too infatuated to attack.
    OOC: @CommBA Not a problem, dude, that's a good idea. Just a warning - don't recap stuff you've already said. For example, your previous post before this one contained you ordering Ferali to use Attract and Water Gun so it shouldn't be in this most recent one as well.
    ~~~~~

    “Well, at least it’ll be easier to see Abra with that glow it’s giving off, hey, Ferali?” Mercurius laughed nervously.

    The Feraligatr responded with a quick toothy grin. She didn't seem at all nervous, which was good. It was probably in her disposition, which made her a rare and powerful Pokemon indeed.

    “Ferali, use Agility to get up close and personal with Abra. Once you’re close enough, use Superpower," my Trainer ordered.

    The Water-type lowered herself onto all fours and began to run in a large circle around the Abra, a long white stream marking her passage. The Abra tried to watch Ferali as much as possible - probably the attraction from earlier - but it wasn't able to, so its head began rolling in circles. Ferali suddenly jerked to the right and scooped up a large boulder before throwing it towards the Abra. I was surprised by this move - Superpower was normally a physical strike. Mercurius must have specially trained Ferali in this long-range version.

    The rock hit the Psychic-type, sending it skidding backwards along the ground. The Abra started panting, but it made its hand into a claw-shape and pointed it towards Ferali. A blue lightning-bolt zapped across the dark cave, nearly blinding me. The Psyshock caught Ferali in the chest and sent her flying through the air. She slammed into the cave wall before falling heavily onto her rear legs. I had the feeling that the Abra's attraction wouldn't keep it from hitting hard for much longer.

    OOC: @ChainReaction01 Sorry about that. I couldn’t really think of a fancier way of saying “It hit!” than just recapping. Also, some of these words aren’t typos. It’s supposed to be the alcohol starting to kick in a bit so I’m slurring a bit and saying works to quickly together. Oh, and the repeated the word I had just said after a hiccup isn’t me trying to cheat MCR, that’s based on how I actually do it.

    ~~~~
    Ferali was running circles around the Abra, just as it had been loosely planned out. The move was executed exactly like I had imagined. Ferali found a fairly large boulder and hurled it towards the Abra. I knew it would pay off to train her in using Superpower in a more unconventional way. The huge chunk of stone smacked the Psychic-type foe, sending it skidding backwards a tad bit on the floor. It seemed like the Abra would soon be done playing nice. It began panting, as if it’s been brought to some sort of near limit. The Abra started to extend its fingers, pointing its newly showing claws towards my aquatic creature. A blinding blue lightning bolt zipped across the dark cave. I shielded my eyes to prevent any harm that could’ve happened from starring directly at the bright attack.
    When I returned my vision towards the battle at hand, I saw Ferali was suddenly leaning against the cave wall. She was in an awkward position; I can only assume she landed hard on her hind legs. I could see Ferali rubbing her chest a bit. It hurts to see my baby like that. I slid my backpack off my shoulder and placed it on the ground while taking a knee. I rummaged through the pack to pull out the flask once again. I slid the cap off and took a huge swig.
    <Poor girl. That must be where Abra hit you. Her legs look a bit sore too. Alright, I gotta try and make sure you don’t exasperate your injury. Looks like I’ll have you fight long-range for now. But what should I use? That hit you just took into the wall looks like it might’ve loosen up some rocks. We could always go with a Rock Slide. Though, if I wait until later, I most likely wouldn’t be able to use Hydro Pump. If Abra gets too weak, that’ll definitely be too powerful of a hit. Ice Fang maybe? The possibility of a flinch or Abra being partially frozen is pretty nice. That Attract doesn’t look like it’ll help much longer neither. If I’m gonna do something, I gotta do it quick.
    Let me think each scenario clearlyish. Firstly, whether or not to use Hydro Pump or not. Whoa, just thought “or not” twice. That reminds me of Lampy from The Brave Little Toaster. Wait, stay focused. Ok, so, Hydro Pump is an incredibly powerful Water-type attack. The only problem is that it’s basically a Water Gun on steroids. If anything, Abra would be able to anticipate that move the most. Also, that accuracy. What’s up with that? It’s crazy bad. Yeah, no, fuck that noise.
    Rock Slide is pretty inaccurate too I guess, but at least it’s not as bad. The possibility of making Abra flinch is pretty sweet though. Though, involving rocks and all, it’s pretty close to that Superpower I just used. Damn, what’s with all my attacks being similar? I gotta get Ferali a better style.
    Finally, there’s Ice Fang. I could shoot the beams from Ferali’s chompers. Abra hasn’t seen something close to that neither, so that would be a bit of a surprise on that Psychic chump. That’s also the least non-accurate move out of the three. There should be an easier way to say that. Oh, duh, “most accurate”. Blonde moment. So, it seems like Ice Fang would be my most legit shot of something. If only I could somehow take away all this dread of a possible miss…>
    “OH SHIT SON, HONE CLAWS!” I blurted out after my deep meditation. “Er, sorry about that, meant to *hiccup*, to think that. Ferali, I want you to set up with Hone Claws while I figure this next part out.”
    Ferali looked at me and nodded. She began to scrape her claws against the sides of the cave wall in a rhythmic pattern until they began to glow a pure angelic white. This move had always been one of her favorite moves to use, especially while in combat. It brings out a more competitive side of the predominately blue crocodilian. With Hone Claws, Ferali’s attack will be back to its original starting value with the benefit of better accuracy.
    <Good girl. This’ll give us some sort of edge, for the time being at least. Now to decide between Hydro Pump, Rock Slide, or Ice Fang. Power, flinch, or surprise. What a tick, who says I gotta choose only one?>
    “Holy crap, I *hiccup*, I got it!” I exclaimed. “Ferali, hang in there girl, I’ve gota sorta crazy idea. I need you to trust me on this. Nowlet’s try thish out: I want you to first use, uh, Rock Slide? Yeah, Rock Shlide. Then, aim one of them Ice Fang attacks AT the rocks. I’m hoping them new *hiccup*, newly formed iced boulders will do some damage”
    Ferali once again gave a nod that it understood its directions. If this crazy plan would pan out, it would work like this: first, Ferali would use its tail and fists, and proceed to slam them against the wall, causing some of the loosen rocks. As the rocks are falling, Ferali would aim an Ice Fang towards the falling rocks. For some reason, Ice Fang didn’t require the use to take a physical bite unlike the other two elemental fangs. Ferali’s teeth will start to glow an icy blue and shoot cold beams from its fangs. If this crazy plan worked, the Ice Fang will hit the Rock Slide creating iced-over boulders to fall on the Abra. Though, for all I know, the Ice Fang will obliterate the falling rumble and break them up into what would essentially be only an annoying inconvenience of pebbles raining down on the Abra.
    OOC: @CommBA it's cool, you're not in trouble or anything lol
    ~~~~~

    Mercurius looked over at Ferali, who was gingerly testing out her legs. I knew what it was like to see your Pokemon in pain, and I felt sorry for the both of them, but it was only a temporary pain, and one that Ferali took on of her own accord. No Pokemon battled unless they wanted to, or had to. Mercurius dropped his backpack onto the ground and pulled out the bottle again. My mouth watered slightly as he started to drink from it again.

    A couple seconds later, Mercurius burst out, “OH SHIT SON, HONE CLAWS!” He then hiccuped and amended the sudden shout, “Er, sorry about that, meant to think that. Ferali, I want you to set up with Hone Claws while I figure this next part out.”

    The Feraligatr nodded and began sharpening her claws on the rock walls behind her without ever looking away from the Abra, which seemed content to sit on the ground with its tail wrapped around its waist. The Water-type's claws began to glow, and there was soon a white outline around them.

    “Holy crap, I got it!” Mecurius exclaimed while hiccuping. “Ferali, hang in there girl, I’ve gota sorta crazy idea. I need you to trust me on this. Nowlet’s try thish out: I want you to first use, uh, Rock Slide? Yeah, Rock Shlide. Then, aim one of them Ice Fang attacks AT the rocks. I’m hoping them newly formed iced boulders will do some damage.”

    Ferali bared her teeth, and icy cold air - so cold that it was visible - wafted around her sharp teeth. She bashed the walls behind her and the cave began to rumble. A cluster of rocks above the Abra detached from the ceiling and began to fall. That was when Ferali darted forwards a little bit and a cone of whiteness blasted upwards from her mouth. The white energy coated the rocks, and small blue crystals grew on the surface. It was like watching icicles form but set to fast speed. The rocks and attached ice-forms crashed into the Abra, covering it completely. The Psychic-type keened in pain, and some of the rocks on the top moved around, but the Wild Pokemon did not emerge.

    The battlefield fell silent for a couple of seconds. Then, I heard a small whirring or drilling sound, and six vines burst out of the rock wall near Ferali. Quick as a flash, one wrapped around each of her limbs, and two around her body. They slammed her into the wall and held her there tightly. The scrabbling of the rocks started up again, and a couple of them near the top finally fell down to the ground and smashed into little pieces. The Abra squeezed out of the top and sat at the very tip of the pile, its eyes burning with the pleasure of victory.

    OOC: @ChainReaction01 I would feel weird if I didn’t write anything here. I did it for the other posts. GOTTA KEEP THE TREND GOING!

    ~~~~
    Ferali opened up her jaw, her teeth beginning to glow an icy blue. The air around her fangs started to become cold enough to see. It almost appeared to be like a thick fog surrounding her chompers. Then, Ferali used her tail and slammed it against the wall. The cave started to shake and rumble. <Shit, I hope I don’t cause the whole place to cave in with this Rock Slide.> A cluster of rocks broke away from the ceiling and started to plummet towards the Abra. Ferali then darted forward a bit and fired a white cone of Ice-type energy from her fangs towards the falling rubble. The Ice Fang produced beams struck the rocks and instantly small blue crystals began to coat the surface of them. The newly formed iced-over boulders collided with the Abra, completely submerging it beneath the pile of rocks. The yellow fox keened out in pain underneath the rocks. Some of the stones atop the pile began to move around, but the Abra didn’t reemerge.
    “Calling that move Ice Slide,” I said to my ranger Chainy. “Copyrighting that shit, but you’re a pretty cool cat, you can use it. Quite a shame it wasn’t a Thunder Fang; I would’ve called it The Electric Slide!” I was about to perform the famous line dance when a whirling sound distracted me. “Wait, what’s that sound? Sounds like a drill of some sort.”
    Suddenly, several vines burst out of the rock wall that Ferali was near. In a blink of an eye, a vine was wrapped around each one of Ferali’s limbs and two around her torso. With the vines now securely wrapped around the Water-type Pokémon, they yanked her backwards and slammed her against the wall, holding her against it tightly. The pile of rubble began to move again, a couple of the top rocks finally tumbling down to the ground and smashing into tiny pieces. The Abra squeezed out from the new opening and sat atop its newly formed, makeshift throne.
    “HANG IN THERE GIRL!” I shouted towards Ferali. The cave walls looked pretty sharp; I was extremely worried about the walls digging into her skin. <Nothing sobers you up a bit quicker like seeing someone you love being injured. I’m sorry girl, I can’t help but feel like you in this predicament is because of me. This battle is almost over though, just hang in there a little bit more. One more move should do it, but first, we gotta get you out of these vines.>
    “Alright Ferali, use Flail to loosen up that Grass Knot!” I commanded to the blue crocodile-esque Pokémon. “You should be able to slip out from the vines’ grasp with the extra slack.”
    Ferali began to wiggle about, struggling to loosen herself from her current confinement as much as she could. I had considered using Thrash to break out of the vines instead. It would’ve definitely been easier to break free and snap the binding plant with such a powerful move, but I didn’t want to risk Ferali being unable to control herself and doing excessive damage to the Psychic-type Pokémon. I knew I had to act soon. Otherwise the yellow fox could easily just reapply another layer of Grass Knot to Ferali and repin her. I had to think of a way to hit the Abra quickly.
    “Ferali, once you’re free, hit Abra with an Aqua Jet!” <Hmm, that should be just powerful enough to do some damage, but nothing too major. This way, even if Abra did try and hit Ferali with another Grass Knot, she could easily evade the next set of vines’ clutches.>
    If the attack works, Ferali will encase herself in an aquatic sphere. Once in her pseudo liquid shield, she will dart forward as a bulky, blue missile enveloped by water, literally jetting towards her Psychic fox opponent. I reached into my backpack and rummaged around for a standard issue Parkball. If the attack connected, I wanted to be ready to throw the capture device and hopefully succeed in my first capture in the National Park. I gripped the ball, preparing to throw it at the hopefully soon-to-be ex-Wild Abra.
    OOC: @CommBA sounds like a good reason to me xD
    "Hang in there, girl!" Mercurius shouted as the vines continued to tighten around the Feraligatr. The Water-type snorted and gritted her teeth, showing off her impressive fangs. Her muscles swelled underneath the vines, impeding their progress, but I could see it was only a matter of time until the pain overcame her and she wasn't able to resist the Grass Knot any more.
    “Alright Ferali, use Flail to loosen up that Grass Knot! You should be able to slip out from the vines’ grasp with the extra slack,” the young man ordered.
    Ferali began to thrash around on the wall, and the vines lost their grip. They kept the huge alligator off the ground, but they were loosened, and the Water-type was able to move much more freely. The Feraligatr growled in victory and continued to flail around, twisting and yanking at the vines with all four of her limbs and pushing against the wall with her head, tensing the vines that were holding her body.
    "Ferali, once you're free, hit Abra with an Aqua Jet!" Mercurius commanded.
    Water began to exude out of the Feraligatr's skin, coating the Pokemon in a slippery liquid. With a triumphant yowl, Ferali slipped both of her legs out of their bindings and then kicked off from the wall, snapping the other vines and leaving them dangling out of the cave wall. The water around her continued to grow in size until it encased her completely. She streaked across the room like a torpedo and bashed into the rock pile just below the Abra. The sphere of water exploded, and both of these forces acting on the Abra caused it to fall off the pile of rocks and collapse onto the ground. Ferali landed on her rear legs on the other side of the pile and she huffed satisfactorily.
    I turned to look at Mercurius, and I wasn't surprised to see him holding a Park Ball. He threw it towards the Abra, and the capture device struck the Psychic-type on its tail. The Wild Pokemon was converted into red energy, which was then drawn inside the ball. The Park Ball shook back and forth on the ground for a couple seconds before laying still. It emitted a high-pitched tone and a red light shone out of the button on the front of the device.
    "Congratulations on your first Park capture," I said to Mercurius as I walked over to pick the PokeBall up. "Let me know whenever you're ready to move on."
    OOC: @ChainReaction01 FIRST CAPTURE WOO! You could say that battle was easy as Psi! Ha, I like that, I think I’m gonna include that in the post. So weird that this is my shortest post too.
    ~~~~

    Water slowly started seeping out of every pore of Ferali until she was completely concealed in the liquid. With a ferocious roar, she slipped her legs out from her current confinement and pushed off the wall, causing the remaining lines holding her to snap off leaving them to hang there limp. She zipped across the room, the water containing her growing with every passing second, and demolished the pile of rocks that the Abra had been sitting on top of. The impact of the collision caused the water to explode everywhere, both the water and the rocks factoring into the Abra’s plummet downward towards the cold cave floor. Ferali landed on her hind legs on the opposite side of the cave; breathing heavily from the battle, but none the less satisfied with how the result of the attack.

    I rummaged through the backpack searching for a normal Parkball. With a firm grip, I chucked it towards the Psychic fox, hoping to capture my first Pokémon in the National Park. The capture device struck the Psi Pokémon on its tail. The Abra had become engulfed in a red energy, before being sapped inside the Parkball. The spherical containment shook back and forth on the ground for what seemed like an eternity. Finally, with a high-pitched tone, the ball’s shaking came to a halt.

    “Congratulations on your first Park capture,” said Chainy as he walked towards the ball. He leaned over, picked it up the ground, and stored it away. “Let me know when you’re ready to move on.”

    “FIRST PARK CAPTURE, WOO!” I exclaimed in joy. “That battle wasn’t too bad. You might even say, it was easy as Psi!” I then pointed at the ranger with a finger-gun snap. I dug through my pack once more, pulling out the familiar flask and the Poképlayer with the Gastly disc inserted. I tossed the flask towards the extremely cool ranger. “Care to join in me a victory swig while I get this player started up?”

    I didn’t wait for his answer though. I really wanted that Gastly, so I pushed play for the third time, listening to those familiar ghostly wails once again. <I hope what they say is true. Hopefully third time really will be the charm.>

    OOC: @CommBA not as weird as you'd think, post-capture posts are usually the shortest of the short, seeing as there's very little for you to describe.

    ~~~~~
    "First Park capture, wooooo!" Mercurius yelled happily as I stored the Park Ball away in the side pocket of my pack. I looked over at Ferali, who thumped over to her Trainer's side. She didn't seem to badly hurt, although there certainly were a few traces of battle fatigue.
    “That battle wasn’t too bad. You might even say, it was easy as Psi!” the young man proclaimed, pointing his index finger at me like his hand was a gun. I groaned out loud, and Ferali didn't seem very happy about the pun either. The Trainer pulled his Pokeplayer and the flask out of his bag, and tossed the latter over to me. “Care to join in me a victory swig while I get this player started up?” he invited me.
    "But of course," I replied, taking a large gulp of the intoxicating mixture. I resolved to pay Mercurius back, and I knew exactly how. One of my stashes was hidden in one of these caves, hopefully nearby. They were one of the few remaining secrets I had kept from Ivy - the heartless woman would have ordered me to remove them if she knew.
    Mercurius pressed the Play button on the device once more, and the echoing cries of the Gastly began to bounce off of the walls. I tried to put them out of my mind as I passed the bottle back to Mercurius and began to lead him and Ferali down the tunnel. There was a slight shake in my step, which I told myself was fatigue, but I knew it was actually the alcohol starting to take effect.
    A couple minutes later, a small bobbing blue light was visible further on down the tunnel. I held out my torch and a cream-coloured, roughly spherical Pokemon entered the light. It wasn't walking or running so much as bouncing, and the blue glow was being caused by a tiny fragment of rock that it held high in one hand.
    "Interested in trying to catch that Clefairy?" I asked Mercurius.
    OOC: @ChainReaction01 Yeeeeah buddy, super-fast posting! Buying a doll if the run doesn’t work. 13,100 - 500 = 12,600
    ~~~~

    “But of course,” replied my laidback ranger before taking a decent gulp of the wonderful joy that was Jameson, all while the haunting wails from the Poképlayer filled the caves. The cries of Gastly seemed to be exceptionally loud, possibly due to the echo resulting from the enclosed space of these tunnels. I couldn’t exactly tell, but it almost seemed as if he was somewhat bothered.

    <Heh, I know that look. That’s the look of a man hiding a secret. Probably from his other half. It’s either that, or he’s not too fond of Ghost-type Pokémon. I wouldn’t blame him, they can be exceptionally tricky. Let’s not forget the disadvantage they would put his Gallade in. But he looks like a smart guy, I’m sure he’s planned for anything that could be thrown at him.>

    James handed the flask back to me. I took one more half swig before storing it back into the bag. I wanted to make sure there would still be plenty of potent potables left for this trip. Chainy took a couple of steps ahead of us, and waved Ferali and I to follow him. Chainy proceeded to lead us deeper into the network of caves. He seemed a bit tired too; almost as if he was fatigued. Which, honestly, made no sense; I was the one who was doing the battling. Even then, I shouldn’t be that worn out myself. After all, it was really Ferali who does the heavy lifting when it comes to battling.

    <I wonder if he really knows where we’re going? What would happen if we somehow stumbled upon some unexplored area in these caves? I’m sure that it’s highly unlikely; the Park has been opened for a fairly long time now. Though, it would be pretty cool if that happened. I can’t even begin to imagine what type of strong creatures would be down there. Shit, now I’m thinking of monsters. All while being in a dark cave. That’s the last thing I needed. I hope something non-threatening pops up and takes my mind off of things.>

    After walking down the tunnels for a couple of minutes, a small bouncing blue light was visible further down the dark tunnel. Chainy adjusted his torch visor onto a practically round, cream-colored Pokémon. The bobbing blue light turned out to be a tiny fragment of rock that it was grasping in one hand as the fairy-like creature bounced up and down itself.

    “Interested in trying to catch that Clefairy?” the ranger asked me.

    “Well, it seems so gleeful and oblivious; I would really hate to disturb it. Hopefully we can sneak past it. If we need to, I’ll buy it a doll so it could have a makeshift friend to play with.”
