    OOC: @CommBA lots of stupid fucking shit happened, but at least this worked out

    ~~~~~
    “Well, it seems so gleeful and oblivious. I would really hate to disturb it. Hopefully we can sneak past it. If we need to, I’ll buy it a doll so it could have a makeshift friend to play with,” my Trainer replied.
    "I don't think that'll be necessary," I said. We all scooched to one side of the tunnel, pressing up against the cool rock walls, and the Clefairy bounced straight past us. It didn't even seem to notice that we were there. My guess was that it was too busy concentrating on the glowing stone to notice anything but the object itself and the path it was traveling.
    When the Clefairy turned a corner I shrugged and our little party moved on. We got to a three-way crossroads, and the one to the left held a torch-bracket. I grinned - that meant we were close. I began to lead Mercurius down the tunnel when I heard a semi-high-pitched squeaking coming from the right tunnel. A small blue Pokemon with long ears and no arms hopped into our torchlight beams. It was very hard to see, but the Baby Pokemon had a dark black tail with a white circular marking near the end that seemed to absorb light instead of reflecting it.
    "Well, interested in a Wynaut, or should we keep moving on?" I asked my Trainer.
    OOC: @ChainReaction01 Everything alright broseph? Buying a doll if the run doesn’t work. 16,600 - 500 = 16,100. Sorry about the long gap in posts. Friend’s parents were gone which meant CONSTANT DRUNKNESS.
    “I don’t think that’ll be necessary,” replied the ranger.
    I must have been daydreaming a bit because it felt as if I week went by before I heard his answer. Regardless, I snapped out of my daze and followed Chainy. The lot of us scooted up against the side of the cold cave wall, allowing enough room for the fairy-esque Pokémon to hop passed us. It looked like it was too fascinated by the blue, glowing rock it was carrying to care about us at all.
    The Clefairy continue to travel in its own direction, finally turning a corner and disappearing forever into the dark abyss. Chainy just gave a shrug and lead us down our own path. We reached a three-pronged path, the left most one holding some sort of torch carrier. I wasn’t too sure due to the dimness of the cave, but it looked like Chainy was grinning.
    <Why is he grinning? It’s darker than the ballsack of a fat guy in here. Shit, I hope he isn’t thinking about raping me. Wait, why did I go to rape right awa->
    Suddenly, there was a semi-high-pitched squeaking coming from the path down the right that broke my train of thought. It scared the shit out of me, so I shouted the first thing that came to mind. “DON’T RAPE ME!”
    To my relief, the source of the squeaking was another Wynaut and not my ranger about to pull some funny business. He seemed to ignore my sudden outburst thankfully. He just looked at me and said, “Well, interested in a Wynaut, or should we keep moving on?”
    “Oh, yay, a Wynaut. How I always wanted one of those,” I replied in the most sarcastic tone I could do. I reached into my wallet and pulled out some cash, ready to toss it towards him if he needed it for a doll purchase. Then it dawned on me: I still had two uses left on my disk! I brought out the player one more time and got ready to push play once we were away from the small Psychic-type.
    OOC: @CommBA Nah, everything's fine, can't even remember why I was annoyed xD and it's cool man, take your time. Also, you're super welcome bro ;D
    ~~~~~

    I shot Mercurius a strange look, but then it was a strange outburst. I certainly didn't poke dudes - maybe he was begging the incoming Pokemon not to have its way with him. Both of the possibilities amused me, and I started to make a noise that I would call a chuckle, but if I was being really honest I would describe it as more like a giggle.

    “Oh, yay, a Wynaut. How I always wanted one of those,” the young man said in an incredibly sarcastic voice. Immediately, the Psychic-type's eyes narrowed and it lost its happy appearance. It growled at Mercurius and backed up into the darkness, never taking its slitted eyes off of him. My giggling became full-out laughter.

    "I guess the Wynaut didn't like your attitude." I nearly choked. Mercurius didn't seem as impressed. He merely pressed the Play button of his Pokeplayer, and once more the ghostly call of the Pokemon he was hunting echoed throughout the caves. This time, however, there was a reply. I shot Mercurius a look and we instantly went back-to-back, pointing out torch beams outwards, trying to scan as much of the cave as we could. When my light fell on very toothy grin, I couldn't hold back a squeal. I fell onto my rear end and squealed a couple more times, backing up to the wall.

    The Gastly started chuckling, and I slowly got to my feet. "Man, that was creepy," I murmured. "Perhaps the Wynaut wasn't angry with you, it was scared of this ghostie. Either way, here it is. Go nuts."

    OOC: @ChainReaction01 YESSSSSSS. Now I get to write some retarded battling intertwined with a soon to be plot that shouldn’t even be in the National Park. Also, makin’ Gastly a male.

    ~~~~
    The bouncy blue thing of a Psychic-type was clearly unamused with my comments and immediately stopped jollily hopping around. The Wynaut growled at me while backing up into the darkness; its cold gaze never removing from me. From the other side of the cave, I heard what first sided like a schoolgirl giggling turn into a full on fit of laughter.
    “I guess the Wynaut didn’t like your attitude,” my ranger managed to say through his gasps for air from the laughing. I just stared at him blankly, hopefully conveying my emotions that I was completely unimpressed. I brought out that oh-so-familiar Poképlayer and pushed “Play” once more, resulting once again in the fairly creepy wails of the half Ghost-, half Poison-type Pokémon that was my current focus. This time, however, there was a reply. Mr. Carter shot me a look and we instantly jumped into a back-to-back position, our torch lights beaming outwards, scanning as much of the cave as we could. Sadly, I didn’t see anything. <Maybe a false alarm?>
    That’s when I heard a squeal from my ranger. I quickly spun around to see what had caused such a noise from him. The sight before me was one that I was hoping to see. Floating in front of me was a Gastly. The Gastly let out a chuckle. I can only assume it was pleased with its startling entrance it had made.
    I looked at Chainy, who was slowly getting up off the floor. “Man, that was creepy,” he murmured. “Perhaps the Wynaut wasn’t angry with you; it was scared of this ghostie. Either way, here it is. Go nuts.”
    “Right,” I affirmatively said with a bit of a grunt mixed in there. <Alright, who to use for this battle? Ferali is probably tired from her battle with Abra, I should rest her. Golly is strong as hell, and with Gastly’s weak Defenses, I would probably knock it out easily. Besides, half of Golly’s moves are either Ground- or Fighting-type, neither of which will work on this ghastly opponent. Lawl, I made a funny. Sparkplug would be pretty decent, but half of his moves would be ineffective as well. Well, I guess that settles it. Looks like it’ll be up to Phoenix. He has a good mix of moves too, I should be fine.>
    “Alright,” I mumbled under my breath, reaching for Phoenix’s Pokéball on my belt. “Looks like you’re up for this fight buddy! Make me proud.” I gripped the ball and tossed it a few feet in front of me. After a thud and a bright white light, my Blaziken emerged from its spherical containment, eagerly awaiting the battle with the ghostly foe. “Let’s start this battle off by giving us a slight advantage. Blind the foe with a Sand-Attack! Then, follow up with an Ember!”
    Phoenix looked over to me and gave a nod of agreement. He looked at the ground, surveying his surroundings, looking for the best part to kick up the sand from. He darted to the right a bit towards what looked like a fairly sandy patch of land. Phoenix tensed his leg up and proceeded to kick up clumps of sand towards the Gastly. Even though Sand-Attack was a Ground-type move, it should still be able to hit the dual-typed opponent. While the grainy mineral was heading towards the Gastly, Phoenix had opened its maw and prepared to launch an Ember. A bright glowing mixture of red, yellow, and orange began to power up within Phoenix’s throat. Two seconds later, a multiple small bursts of concentrated fire burst from his mouth and towards the Gastly.
    <Looks like this battle is getting off to a hot start. But something feels weird about this battle…>
    OOC: @CommBA I dunno, I’ve seen some pretty faaaaar out plots. Surprise me. But not with more puns xD
    ~~~~~

    Mercurius grunted and stared at the Gastly. He was probably taking some time to decide on the Pokemon he wanted to use in battle. There was nothing wrong with this – it took years to learn all the strengths and weaknesses of one of your Pokemon, and even then they were always changing and learning new techniques. Dual learned new techniques all the time – right now he was working on mastering Charge Beam. When I asked him why he bothered taking the time to learn a move that he’d probably never use in battle, he had replied that it was better to know and not need than need and be screwed.

    “Alright, looks like you’re up for this fight buddy! Make me proud,” the young man said as he plucked a PokeBall off his belt and threw it into the air. The familiar white flash revealed a Blaziken. I didn’t know much about them except that they were the fully evolved form of a popular Starter Pokemon, and that they’d become commonly used in professional battling tournaments thanks to recent breeding breakthroughs that increased their speed drastically.

    “Let’s start this battle off by giving us a slight advantage. Blind the foe with a Sand-Attack! Then, follow up with an Ember!” Mercurius ordered.

    The Blaziken’s head moved around in that jerky fashion that was unique to birds. When he was finished familiarising itself with the battlefield, he darted over to a patch of loose dirt and kicked it up towards the Gastly with powerful drives of his left leg. The Gastly groaned in irritation as the particles got up into its eyes. The delay was exactly what the Fighting-type wanted – a flickering red-orange light started to light up the tunnel, and then the Blaziken spat a clump of small fireballs at its opponent. They exploded on contact, and the Gastly moaned. The Blaziken shot a few more rounds, and each burst resulted in a mini-explosion and a moan from the Gastly.

    When the Blaziken jumped back, having finished its attack, I expected the Gastly to sneak back into the darkness and try to attack from the sides. However, I was wrong. The Ghost-type blasted through the dying remains of the Ember, coated in black energy that seemed to absorb my torchlight. It rammed into Mercurius’ Pokemon, and despite having almost no weight whatsoever, the Fighting-type was knocked onto its backside. The Gastly’s attack must have been very strong, but still, I wouldn’t want to be the Ghost-type right now. Fighting-types tended to take falling down from enemy attacks rather badly.

    OOC: This is what I read:

    AND WHO AM I TO ARGUE WITH MY RANGER?!?

    And I'm SO TERRIBLY sorry this took way too long to come out. By golly, that Electabuzz will be yours.

    ~~~~
    "Where... where am I?" I groggily asked. I rubbed my eyes and took a look at my surroundings. I saw nothing but white everywhere, as if it was some sort of white void in the space-time continuum. This odd place seemed so peacefully. It wasn't hot nor cold. There was no wind, but it felt like wind wasn't even needed. This "room" was, in every sense of the word, simply perfect. "Shit, am I dead?"
    "Nah brah, you're not dead, you're just dreamin'," replied a mysterious surfer-esque voice from behind. I turned around quickly to see who had spoken. That's when I saw them: Golly, Phoenix, Sparkplug, and Ferali. The four Pokemon I had entered Meteor Valley with were standing right there in this area. But, that still didn't explain the voice I had just heard.
    "Yep, ol' flamey here is right," said Sparkplug.
    "Holy shitballs, you guys can talk?!?" I exclaimed. I couldn't believe what was happening. "I don't understand this. For one, you two sound exactly like I imagined! I don't know why, but I always pictured Phoenix with a surfer accent and Sparkplug with a bit of a southern twag."
    "There's a good explanation fer that. Short and sweet, yer imaginin' all this. Ya see, when Phoenix hit the ground, one of them rocks loosen and hit ya in the head. Yer kinda knocked out right now," replied the Electabuzz
    Phoenix looked at Sparkplug, gave a nod of agreement and said, "Yeah brah, but you gotta wake up. I need ya out there dude! I can't really take on this Gastly by myself. You might even say... I don't stand a
    ghost of a chance."
    "Holy hell, this really is my imagination. You guys are even using terrible puns like I would!"
    "Right-o chap! However, I have not the slightest idea why you think I would talk in a slightly British accent," said Golly in a slightly British accent.
    I looked at him with an inquisitive stare and answered, "I don't know Golly. I guess I've always liked the thought of you being proper yet so badass."
    "Be careful when ya get back brah. We've messed with tha natural order of things when we called this Gastly. It bein' here is the most non-tubular thing that coulda happened."
    "So, um, question: how exactly do I get back?" I asked.
    "I gotta give ya a
    shock to yer system," Sparkplug said with a mischievous grin. The Electric-type began to rotate both his arms in circles, charging up the electricity he stores within himself. His arms spun faster and faster, causing him to glow yellow as tiny sparks began to crackle from his body. "HERE WE GO!" he shouted as a strong bolt of lightning shout out of him and towards my chest. It hit me straight in the heart. I fell back, my eyelids growing heavier with every passing second. The white emptiness began to fade away.
    I slowly blinked my eyes a couple of times as they adjusted to the dimness. There was a cool, damp feel to the air. I definitely was awake now. I could tell by the incredibly uncomfortable and rocky floor where I lied. This was indeed a cave I was in. I sat up, grabbed the torch that Chainy had let me borrow, and tried to recollect my thoughts.
    "Ugh, my head, I feel like I've been knocked out for four and a half months," I grumpily said with a groan. I looked down at my watch just to see how much time has past. To my surprise it was really only about 15 seconds or so. I began to scramble to point together the last thing I can remember from this battle. Oddly enough, I felt like it was the Ghost-type Pokemon using Payback.
    <That can't be right, can it? Gastly has terrible Attack. Why on Earth would it use a physical move? But all I can remember is Gastly flying through the rubble and dust, charging towards Phoenix in some sort of black energy. I honestly wasn't expecting that. I better use Growl to make it's physical attacks even worse, just in case it tries to pull another stunt like that again.>
    I finally leaped up and stood back on my feet. I shot a glance at the ranger who had led me down into the caves and gave him a thumbs up to let him know I was okay. I wasn't sure if he was worried about me or not, but this way there'll be no doubt about it now. I returned my focus to the battle and began to call out the plans to my Fire- and Fighting-type Pokemon.
    "Alright Phoenix, here's the plan. This Gastly seems like it likes to get up close and mix it up a bit, so use Growl to make sure we won't take as much damage. After that, follow it up with your Hidden Power."
    The fairly tall chicken-like Pokemon sprung off the floor, ready to continue the battle. It opened up its maw and let out a loud, high-pitched cry into the cave. Due to the close proximities of the cave walls to one another, the sound waves seemed to bounce off them and amplify the power of the attack. As the first attack ended, numerous tiny light green balls of energy began to circle around Blaziken, growing slightly bigger as they continued to orbit around Phoenix. The Bug-type energy had grown to be about the size of a softball. With the green orbs fully developed, they shot towards the ghostly opponent. Hopefully, this attack will double as a move to deal damage as well as soften any sort of non-physical attack the Gastly might throw back in retaliation.
    OOC: By golly LOL IT'S FUNNY COS THAT'S YOUR POKEMON
    ~~~~~

    "Alright Phoenix, here's the plan," Mercurius said after a lengthy delay, "This Gastly seems like it likes to get up close and mix it up a bit, so use Growl to make sure we won't take as much damage. After that, follow it up with your Hidden Power."

    The Blaziken stepped forwards and opened his mouth wide. A fearsome noise filled the cavern, one that was half a growl and half a caw. It reverberated throughout the cave, and I saw that Gastly move back a little bit. It never occurred to me to think that Ghost-types could be scared, but I knew that this one was. At least, a little bit. I couldn't say that I blamed it either - the sound that Phoenix was making was pretty damn scary.

    As a defense mechanism, the Gastly puffed up and then shrunk. When it shrunk, a cloud of purple gases rolled outwards in all directions. I took a quick sniff and then coughed. It was toxic gas, although you had to breathe in a fair bit to get seriously ill.

    "Mercurius, stay low," I called out, crouching down as I did so. It was already getting hard to see, and it would only get worse for a few minutes.

    Thankfully, Hidden Power wasn't a physical move and so required much less accuracy to wield. Phoenix clenched her hands and small, light-green orbs started to fly around her. When they were the size of a baseball they whizzed off into the air. I knew that they found their mark because not two seconds later I heard a ghostly cry of pain. Shortly afterwards, strange lights began flickering in the depths of the fog. They were multicoloured and pulsing at different rates. This was Gastly's Confuse Ray technique, and it made for a fabulous combo with Smog. The lack of vision combined with the threatening flashes really put a lot of pressure on Phoenix mentally, and it would be interesting to see how Mercurius dealt with it. That is, assuming he didn't pass out from inhaling the gas.
