"Um, not really, Makina. Is it okay if we move on, please?" Argent replied, smiling as he hit play on his Pokeplayer once more. The recording device began to emit a chirping cry once more, this time without an accompanying reply from the nearby Chatot.

Thankfully, the wild Chatot appeared to have no interest in battling Argent; in fact, it chose to merely doze off right on the spot, tucking its head underneath a wing as it settled down more comfortably on the branch.

As the recording continued to play, there appeared to be a faint echo, as if the disk was playing two cries at the same time. This was more than a little strange; after all, it had sounded different the first play-through, and the Pokemon used for the recording was kept to a single one in order to prevent confusing any wild Pokemon that could be listening. Before Makina could puzzle out what was causing this, the second cry became louder, emanating from above them. Moments later a small, cotton-winged figure dropped down from the treetops, lightly landing upon Argent's head.

“Guess seventh time is the charm, least for Pokeplayers,” Makina grinned. “That Swablu must like you.”

    OOC: Swablu is female, please.

Makina didn't say anything, but she was going to lead him onwards anyway. She seemed a trifle annoyed with him for some reason, although he couldn't possibly hazard a reason as to why -- Argent hadn't actually been surly with her or anything, and he had never been rude. In fact, all he'd ever been since embarking on the run was polite, so he didn't understand why she seemed a little detached from him. He hoped that he hadn't offended her somehow, because she was a really nice person in general and he was just hoping that they would get on together -- like they had back in Oktori, when Makina had replaced Elisa Fleming as his Ranger. He didn't fully understand what was going on with her at the moment, but he wasn't sure that he really wanted to. In any case, the chirping noise, once again, rang out from his PokéPlayer into the air. He was just hoping that the Chatot wouldn't try to engage in a battle with him -- he really wanted to be moving onwards with the run. He looked towards the Chatot, who was simply staring down back at him... like some colourful, musical note-headed bird thing. That was what it was, anyway. However, Chatot didn't seem to be very interested in Argent and Chimey, and, in fact, just decided to have a nap right in the middle of everything, which was a little spontaneous to Argent, but he simply shrugged. He was glad that he wouldn't have to take evasive measures or something -- that would probably have been one of the final straws. The bird chirps still rang through the air, and Argent simply hoped that a real Swablu would be there to answer the call (he also hoped for world peace as well, but pfft, like that was ever going to happen).

As Chatot tucked its head under its wing, Argent and Makina walked on. As the disk played, though, there seemed to be a slight echo to it. It was faint, but still loud enough to be audible. Argent wondered what the cause of that was -- it was almost like there were two voices recorded onto the disk, but that was impossible. When recording, the makers were always sure to prevent more than one voice coming onto the disk, so as not to confuse the wild creatures in the different areas of the National Park. That left Argent with a few questions -- was the disk faulty, or was there something else out there? Argent was sort of holding out for a Swablu to appear -- that, after all, would make sense, considering that the two voices could be made up of the disk and a real one. As they travelled onwards, the echo grew stronger -- Argent would have to have been a fool not to realise that they were approaching a real Swablu. Argent wasn't a fool, though. That was why he could pretty much guess that a Swablu was nearby, and he was so glad that his disk had worked for a change. A Swablu would do just as well as a Girafarig for him, so he wasn't all that sad now that he was sure that a Swablu was coming his way. The echo grew increasingly louder and more realistic to a point that Argent knew that there was definitely a Swablu nearby. He was pretty excited to battle it, to say the least -- another thing that he wanted already! His run was certainly taking a turn for the better after encountering that Cottonee.

Swablu was a round, blue, parrot-like creature with two long feathers on top of her head, similar to the hairs on Ambipom's head. She also had fluffy, white wings that resembled cotton. Additionally, she had a short, rounded white beak, white feet, and small blue tail feathers. She descended from a nearby tree, landing lightly on top of Argent's head -- that pretty much wouldn't do if he wanted to capture the creature. Makina grinned at him, saying, "Guess seventh time is the charm, at least for PokéPlayers. That Swablu must like you." She wasn't wrong, either -- the Pokémon was chirping happily whilst sitting on his head, and that made it sort of awkward to start a battle. He beamed back at Makina, and unclipped one of the five Poké Balls from his belt, throwing to the ground. The red-and-white sphere bounced from the ground, flying into the air, just below a branch of a tree close to the group. It burst open, releasing a bright white light into the enclosure. The white light descended to the floor quickly, forming a Floatzel. The orange creature gave a fanged grin towards Argent, who returned the smile happily. The creature was always enthusiastic about a battle, and had been waiting since entering the Park -- he couldn't have pitched him up against a Grass-type, however, but he would definitely be fine against the Swablu. There were many moves in his arsenal that would be strong against the Pokémon, such as Ice-type and Rock-type moves that were available whenever Argent gave the command. As well as that, the Floatzel was a rather fast 'mon, outspeeding a lot of things. However, the thing was quite frail, especially on the special defence fronts, meaning that if Swablu got Thunderbolt or something, Assan would be in big trouble.

"All right, Assan, let's start things off with Taunt, to make sure that the Swablu doesn't set up on us. After that, try a Bulk Up, to increase your own strength and defence -- then, Rock Tomb, to see how Swablu holds up. Good luck."

Argent beamed in return, clearly happy to know that one of his disks had finally worked. However, he now had a different problem altogether: removing the wild Pokemon from his head without upestting the creature too much. While Swablu were generally cheerful and liked being around humans, one could hardly expect one to just sit there and take a hit without retaliating on either the Pokemon that struck them or the person who had ordered the command.

Thankfully, Argent appeared to have thought of this as well, and had calmly pulled out another Pokemon to enact his plan. He threw down the sphere on the ground, the device releasing its trademark white light to reveal the form of a Floatzel. The Sea Weasel Pokemon peered about, trying to find his opponent, and his eyes rested upon Pierrot, still hovering beside his trainer.

Pierrot, noticing the challenging glare the Floatzel was tossing his way, rolled his eyes and pointed towards the Swablu as if to say, Your target is over there not me, genius.

Seeing his Floatzel look over at him to see if the Banette was correct, Argent began to speak out his current strategy, "All right, Assan, let's start things off with Taunt, to make sure that the Swablu doesn't set up on us. After that, try a Bulk Up, to increase your own strength and defence -- then, Rock Tomb, to see how Swablu holds up. Good luck."

Floatzel- that is, Assan- immediately began to shout out an impressive amount of syllables towards the Swablu, all of them clearly offensive judging from the way the Swablu was growing increasingly angry as Assan continued on his tirade.

Finally, the Swablu had heard enough; with an angry screech, it took off and darted towards the Floatzel and struck quickly with one of her wings. Judging from the speed the attack had been performed with, along with the fact that the Swablu had used her wings rather than her talons or beak, it was safe to assume that the attack had been Aerial Ace, an aerial attack that hit without fail.

Assan shook off the attack fairly well, launching into his next move without pause. He began to flex his arms, his entire form glowing with a crimson aura as he did so. This was Bulk Up, a technique that raised the user's Attack and Defense Stats simultaneously.

Seeing this, Swablu's cottony form began to puff up in irritation, and became encompassed in a shining silver light. The glow slowly transferred towards the Flying-type's mouth, and then shot directly towards Assan. The Floatzel shuddered as the beam struck him, but the attack did minimal damage; either the attack was fairly weak in general, or it consisted of a type that Assan was resistant to.

Nevertheless, it was Assan's turn to finally fight back. He held his hands (flippers?) towards the sky, summoning a large rock into existence as he did so. It was moves like these that confused most junior scientists who were determined to discover how all moves worked; while most theorized that the objects came from a remove locations, some were under the belief that most of the objects were just willed into the material plane. Regardless, this was something that Makina had no interest in, and it was highly likely the wild Swablu had other things on its mind at the moment; namely, how to avoid this new attack. While the Pokemon managed to barely flit out of the rock's direct path, one of its wings was clipped by the boulder and tumbled down to the ground.

All cheerfulness was now gone from Swablu's face; it was now completely replaced with a grim determination as it looked back at Assan. Taking quick aim, she spat a few rings of energy towards the Floatzel, the color of said energy betraying the moves name: Dragon Pulse. If Argent didn't act quickly, they would surely hit Assan.

Once Assan was out of his Poké Ball, he promptly turned to stare at the Banette, baring his fangs in a way that signalled some sort of intimidatory process. Argent rolled his eyes simultaneously with Pierrot, who pointed towards the Swablu on top of Argent's head. Assan wondered why the creature was pointing to Argent -- obviously his trainer wasn't going to be his opponent. He realised, though, that there was a light blue creature nesting atop of his trainer's head, and he let out a strange noise which sounded awfully like laughing. Argent raised his eyebrows -- he had no idea that Pokémon could actually laugh, but he supposed he had heard Chimey laughing in the past. Argent smiled at Assan, already having called out his commands to the Sea Weasel Pokémon -- now, it was just time to wait for the Pokémon to get a move on. However, Assan seemed a little reluctant to start, obviously uneasy with potentially injuring his trainer -- after all, the creature was on top of his head... something was bound to happen, right? Then he realised once again -- Taunt was actually a very clever choice of Argent's. Taunt was a move that usually angered the opponent into a state that they actually couldn't use non-damaging moves, although the move, with some Pokémon, seemed to have no effect on them -- Assan was hoping that this would anger the Pokémon or something, so that he wouldn't have to unleash rocks upon Argent's head. That would be a very bad thing to do.

Putting one of his creamy paws out in front of him, he waggled a digit at the Swablu, back and forth. As he did so, his paw became outlined in a dark purple glow, and shadowy energy began to be emitted from his paw in a concentrated beam, which began to imbue the Swablu with anger. All the while, Assan had been leading the Swablu on with a fairly impressive amount of syllables in his own language -- the words, even though Argent didn't fully understand, seemed to be quite offensive to the Swablu, as Argent could feel the Pokémon puffing up with anger on his head. Assan continued to do this, leading the Swablu further and further into the realms of anger -- Argent hoped he knew what he was doing. He didn't want his hair ripped to bits in the Swablu's frustration. The cotton-winged Pokémon was seeing red, he knew that much for sure, and the energy kept filtering inside her, filling her up. Finally, it seemed that she couldn't take the constant taunting and insulting of Assan anymore, and Argent felt her weight lifted from his head -- quite literally -- as she twirled into the air. Argent took a step or two back, so he could look up to see what the creature was doing. She screeched angrily, and both of her wings glowed slightly. She dive-bombed down towards the Sea Weasel Pokémon at high speed, tucking her wings inwards for maximum velocity. However, once she had reached him, she whipped out a wing, striking Assan hard, and pulled herself upwards, gliding into the air, where she proceeded to beat her wings softly, still glaring at Argent's Floatzel. Argent stifled an amused smile -- the anger of the Swablu, who was a pretty harmless-looking creature, was somehow funny to him.

Argent assumed this was Aerial Ace, and he was probably not wrong. He looked towards Assan, giving him an encouraging look, and the Pokémon swiftly changed into his next move, closing his eyes for a moment. A few moments passed, and he opened them again, his jaw also opening as he looked up towards the Swablu. He flexed his arms like a wrestler, and he gave out a roar -- as the noise escaped from his mouth, his body exploded with a magenta-coloured aura, which outlined his features. Curling his paws into fists, he looked up defiantly towards the Swablu, who evidently wasn't going to take this well. As the glow faded from around Assan, Swablu once more puffed up with anger, flapping her wings steadily to keep herself in the air. Seeing this as some kind of further challenge, the Swablu concentrated briefly, her body becoming outlined in a silvery glow. Orbs of energy began to form with this glow, and she brought her wings out in front of her, almost as if she was pointing at Assan. The orbs collected in a space in front of her wings, and she was forced backwards slightly as they shot in a beam towards Assan. The Floatzel bravely stood his ground, and let the move hit him -- which wasn't all bad play, really. He was barely even moved by the attack, and once he took a normal stance from his bracing manoeuvres, he looked up once more, not much phased by the attack. His increased strength certainly hadn't done it for him -- Bulk Up didn't increase special defence -- but Argent guessed that the attack was Hidden Power. It was probably of a type that didn't affect Assan much, such as Steel or Fire. Either that or it was just plain weak.

Now, it was time for Assan to attack -- so far, all he'd done were non-damaging moves, and now it was time to fight back, in his own opinion. Too many non-damaging moves spoiled a battle, in his opinion. He slammed his arms out to either side, and gave another roar. In the air, a few heavy-looking rocks materialised, and Argent wondered how exactly they came into existence, anyway -- that sort of thing was very curious. Some said that materials for attacks were just willed into existence, like a Psychic-type simply employing Psychic-type moves. Others thought that there was a source for these attacks that Pokémon could call upon at will, conjuring whatever they needed for their attack. Argent didn't know what view was correct, and it was probably his role as a part-time Pokémon researcher to find out, but the Park was pretty busy as of late, so he didn't usually have as much time for his research as he would have liked. The Swablu took one glance at the rocks that were tumbling down from the sky, and she flapped her wings haphazardly to try and get out of the way of them -- however, even if she did avoid the majority of damage that she would have suffered, one of the rocks clipped her wings, and then cracked as it landed on the ground. Assan looked rather pleased with himself, but the Swablu was still beside herself with anger, and she looked with some sort of fierce determination at Assan. Assan gulped a little, but wasn't really that scared -- he was a little more courageous than that, of course. The Swablu opened her mouth wide, and strange, bluish-purple energy was emitted from it in rings, heading Assan's way.

Argent had to act fast, or Assan would be in deep trouble. "All right, dodge it, Assan! Then, use Ice Punch -- let's hope for a freeze."

It was rather easy for Assan to use Ice Punch -- as a Water-type, he had natural links to the element of ice, and so he could easily manipulate ice, but not with as much freedom as he could water. To utilise Ice Punch, Assan brought some water to the surface of his paws by manipulating it, and then he could easily freeze this -- his fist would be glowing with a light blue energy, and then he could smash it into the opponent. Sometimes, the attack froze the opponent on the spot, making them unable to move entirely. This was caused by the excess ice that he had used to freeze the water which he had created, which could sometimes rub off on the opponent -- the ice would, once rubbed off, imbue some freezing cold energy into the Pokémon, freezing them to the spot. As a researcher, Argent could have gave a more in-depth, scientific explanation (but Buoysel cannot be bothered to make up something that could be plausible enough). Nevertheless, hoping for a freeze was not, on the whole, a bad idea, and Ice Punch, now that it was boosted, would do a great deal of damage to the Swablu.

Argent wanted no time at all as he noticed the Swablu's next attack. “All right, dodge it, Assan! Then, use Ice Punch -- let's hope for a freeze,” he commanded the Floatzel, likely trying to stick to physical attacks to use Bulk Up to its full advantage.

Assan immediately lowered down and rolled to the side, deftly avoiding the majority of the pulse. While one of the larger rings did manage to graze his left side, the blow appeared to be more of an annoyance than an actual attack. While still lowered, the Floatzel took advantage of this by using all four limbs to advance towards his target in a loping dash, holding up one of his front paws at the last moment as Assan charged up his move.

Swablu, her anger beginning to die down but still clouding her judgment, realized a little too late just what the Floatzel was planning. Seeing the Sea Weasel Pokemon run up to her so quickly, she let off an annoyed squawk and tried to fly higher to dodge whatever was approaching. Unfortunately for her and fortunately for Assan, her ascent was far too slow. The Floatzel jabbed his target with a powerful uppercut, the blow connecting and causing the Swablu to be knocked off her desired path a moment.

The Cotton Bird Pokemon re-oriented herself, rising and roosting on a nearby tree branch, but something appeared to be wrong. The Flying-type's movements, while graceful earlier, appeared to become stiff and further slowed. Though it was hard to tell due to the Swablu's color scheme and the Pokemon choosing to rest a good few feet above their heads, Makina decided to hazard a guess and assumed that Assan's Ice Punch had proven somewhat effective in hindering its target.

Assan, seeing his opponent retreat, let out a barking cry and tried to pursue, making his way towards the tree where the Swablu was currently peering down from. As the Floatzel attempted a haphazard climb, however, a stream of what appeared to be feathers shot down towards the Water-type, causing him to shrink back as a few of their feathers hit their mark.

“Never seen FeatherDance used that way,” Makina mused, more to herself than anyone else, then turned to Argent. “Either way, looks like Assan's attack did more than just slow her down, it cooled off her temper as well.”

Assan heard Argent, and immediately followed the command. Smirking slightly, the Floatzel swiftly lowered his body down to the ground and rolled to the side, managing to avoid most of the Dragon Pulse attack. However, one of the larger rings had managed to slide down his left side, damaging him slightly, but this was not a hindrance to the Sea Weasel Pokémon. While still lowered, Assan began to run on all four limbs, like he did back when he was a Buizel. Bounding along through the growth of the Gardens, his muscles bunched together and slammed into the ground in harmony, speeding him along -- Assan was, in truth, an extremely fast Pokémon, out-speeding a lot of other creatures that lived in the Pokémon universe. Argent smiled as he watched his Pokémon go, charging towards the Swablu without fear. As he went, Assan prepared his attack -- Argent could see that his left paw was glowing with the icy energy that he was able to produce, and he was leaving tips of frost on the grass as he ran. The Swablu, strangely, was just hovering in mid-air, her anger seeming to subside, but not fading completely. She didn't understand what Assan was up to at that time, but whatever it was, it probably wasn't good for her -- Argent wondered if the attack would freeze the Pokémon, although he was sort of betting that it wouldn't. In any case, Assan was approaching at an extremely fast rate, and the Swablu would get the full force of his attack if she didn't get a move on.

It seemed that the Swablu was finally realising what Assan was going to do, but it was far too late. She began her ascent, but by that time, Assan had caught up with her. It was too late for her to do anything. With an almighty leap into the air, Assan brought his fist hard into the Swablu. The blow connected easily, and she was forced away from her path of retreat. Assan had not, however, managed to freeze the cotton-winged Pokémon, but he supposed that it didn't really matter at that stage. However, as the blue creature tried to glide to a nearby tree, it seemed that she was a little on the stiff side -- her gracefulness had been removed from her, and she groggily roosted upon the branch of a tree. Argent's brain cheered for Assan, but he knew not to shout anything -- the Swablu had been hindered quite a bit by the attack, and so Assan would probably have an easier job of taking the Pokémon down. However, Assan attempted to climb the tree for some reason, although Argent did not have a single clue as to why, but the Swablu had her own ideas -- she didn't want Assan's physical attacks any more, apparently. She brought her wings out in front of her once more, and a concentrated blast of what seemed to be feathers shot down towards Assan, who recoiled as some of them connected with him -- he didn't like the feel of it.

Makina mumbled to herself like a mumbling thing, and then turned to Argent. "Either way, looks like Assan's attack did more than just slow her down, it cooled off her temper as well."

"Yeah, seems so. All right, Assan, time to finish this, I think! Use Toxic on the Swablu to poison it, and then use Ice Beam. Your attack's been lowered by the feather dance, but your special attacks should be fine. Ice Beam will hopefully freeze this time, but it doesn't matter if it doesn't. Good luck -- I'm counting on you!" Argent flashed an encouraging smile to Assan, who looked uneasily back at him. He wondered how he was going to aim the Toxic substance up at the Pokémon, but he'd probably find a way -- he didn't really want to poison the tree or anything, as he knew that Argent could get in trouble if he damaged the plants and things. He drew back a little from the tree, brushing the excess feathers from himself as he did so. Ice Beam wouldn't be much of a problem -- he was usually accurate with the move. It was, essentially, a concentrated beam of freezing cold energy. This was another move that could freeze, and Argent was sort of counting on it this time, as he was planning to capture the Swablu after the two attacks had been finished. He was just hoping that everything went to plan -- it probably wouldn't, of course, but he could just try harder if this capture failed.

As the poisonous substance built up in Assan's throat, Argent pulled out a Hyper Ball, ready to throw at the Swablu.

“Yeah, seems so.” Argent replied, keeping his attention on the Swablu. He was likely trying to figure out a plan to bring the wild Pokemon back down to earth, since it would have large advantage if it stayed out of Assan's reach. After all, it wasn't like the Floatzel could just sprout wings and fly up there as well.

After a moment of thought, Argent appeared to have come to a decision, “All right, Assan, time to finish this, I think! Use Toxic on the Swablu to poison it, and then use Ice Beam. Your attack's been lowered by the feather dance, but your special attacks should be fine. Ice Beam will hopefully freeze this time, but it doesn't matter if it doesn't. Good luck -- I'm counting on you!”

Makina couldn't help but be a little surprised by this strategy. After all, while Toxic generally came in two forms, both had a high chance of failing due to the angle Assan would be forced to work from. Plus, if the wild Pokemon was crafty enough, it could possibly make the attack rebound and have it strike the Floatzel instead. Either way, the die was cast; for now they would see how it would work out.

Assan took a deep breath, releasing it to blow a venomous dark cloud towards the Swablu. This was a good call on the Floatzel's part; if he had chosen to use a liquid form instead, there was a chance it would just fall harmlessly back down. Swablu quickly reacted, using her wings to direct a strong gust of wind to the cloud so it would harmlessly be directed in the opposite direction. This proved to be a double-edged reaction for the bird; while she had indeed avoided being badly poisoned, the move had removed her from her branch, leaving an easy target for the Floatzel to aim for.

Assan wasted no time, spitting a thin beam of water at the Swablu, crystallizing into ice as it collided into the Pokemon. With the combined work of the Floatzel's Ice Punch and this new added rime, the Flying-type was quickly beginning to freeze over and sink down to the ground.

Before Swablu could strike the ground, Argent threw a Hyper Ball forward. While a lower-quality Ball could've possibly been used instead, it was clear that he really wanted to capture this Pokemon- that or he wanted to make sure that it did not hit the ground and injure itself any more. The capture device neatly drew in the creature in mid-air, falling into the grass and wobbling twice before finally coming to a still.

“Good call there,” Makina said, retrieving the sphere and storing it away next to the Cottonee caught earlier. “Did you know that it would move in order to deal with Toxic?” She nodded to let Argent know to take his time before heading out once more.

As Assan finished off his Ice Beam, once Swablu had fell from her perch, Argent could see that the cotton-winged creature was freezing up. Before she could move any further, Argent had grasped the Hyper Ball tightly in his hand, pressing the inside button once to activate the capture device. Flinging the sphere towards the Swablu, Argent smiled as he realised that the specimen was, actually, frozen to the spot. From the combination of the Ice Punch and the Ice Beam, it seemed that Swablu had just taken in too much ice, and she had frozen up as a result. This, of course, would make Argent's capture far easier, and he was inwardly cheering once more. After all, if the Swablu was unable to move, how could it escape from the Hyper Ball? Argent also knew that the Hyper Ball itself would be particularly effective in capturing the Swablu -- a Park Ball would have worked just as well, but Argent had brought none of those. After using this one, he would only have three Hyper Balls left, and that would actually have been all that he would have had left in terms of capture devices for the Park. Of course, this was going to be his second capture, so that didn't really matter -- he would possibly only be making one or two more captures, so those Hyper Balls would still be enough to get him through the remainder of the run. Argent hummed a little tune as the Hyper Ball collided with the frail body of the Swablu, opening up now that it had been properly activated. It shot out a beam of red light as it bounced into the air, connecting with the Swablu and swallowing it in as the same red light that it had exuded.

Argent waited with bated breath for the results of the capture -- would he be successful, or wouldn't he? It was always a question every time, even in the seemingly most obvious of cases. Take, for example, the Cottonee that he had attempted to capture earlier -- he had been low on health and asleep, and he had escaped from the Super Ball he'd thrown, much to his chagrin. Thankfully, the situation had been rectified, and the (also) cotton-like Pokémon had been captured. Actually, it hit Argent -- the only kind of Pokémon that he'd captured so far were very cotton-y Pokémon. That was a little on the strange side. How had he gained this sudden affinity for cotton? In any case, the capture device had fell to the floor, and it was wiggling from side to side. It stopped within a few minutes, though, and the pinging noise finalised the capture that Argent had just made. He simply smiled warily at Assan, raising his Poké Ball out in front of him once more. "Good job, Assan -- you've done really well! Thank you. Have a nice rest, now." As he spoke, he pressed the central button, and the Poké Ball burst open in his hand. Assan dissolved back into a red light as he was recalled, but not without giving a cheery wave to Makina and Pierrot.

"Good call, there," Makina congratulated. “Did you know that it would move in order to deal with Toxic?”

"Aha, no, not really," Argent lied -- those thoughts had actually occurred to him, and he'd half-counted on it happening. He just wanted to seem a little nicer to Makina. "That was really very lucky."

He took a small sip from the same water bottle he'd drank from earlier, and he and Chimey conversed for a few minutes on the battle. Once he was finished -- the chat wasn't really that long -- he smiled at Makina. "Is it okay if we move on now?"

"Aha, no, not really," Argent replied a little too quickly, recalling Assan as he did so. "That was really very lucky."

While it did seem s little odd, Makina decided that it didn't matter, shrugging in response. “Well, they do say luck is an important factor in battles, guess it worked out for you here quite well,” she said. Granted, now that she thought about it, luck did indeed have a great deal to do with their last encounter. Argent's Pokeplayer managing to call the Swablu, Assan managing to freeze the creature... perhaps more good luck would come his way.

Pierrot, becoming rather bored with the current proceedings, decided to see what lay beyond the grove. While this area appeared to be a little interesting, the Banette's short attention span was beginning to show its face once more. He floated his way over towards the outskirts, taking a look over at a small pond by a mossy rock outcropping.

A few minutes later, Argent appeared ready to head out, and stated as such, "Is it okay if we move on now?"

“Fair enough, by the looks of it Pierrot already beat us to the punch,” Makina replied, giving the area a cursory glance for the Banette. The grove was quite large, which was not surprising considering that trees needed a considerable amount to grow, and there were quite a few in their current area. In addition, there were bound to be many Pokemon hiding about in this area as well. However, there was a a path leading out of the grove as well, leading over another part of the Garden. While Makina was not one hundred percent sure where it led due to only visiting this area in the past for paper runs, she could see a few flowers off in the distance.

Seeing that Argent appeared to have not noticed the other path just yet, she decided to point out his options, just to be safe. “Would you like to continue looking around here? There's a trail not far from us if you would like to look somewhere else.”

Before she could hear Argent's reply, a loud splash and the sound of a very irritable creature filled the air, followed by a quick violet blur that was heading towards them. As Makina readied to quickly toss one of the Pokeballs from her belt forward, the blur was revealed to be Pierrot, trying to make himself scarce from some new creature. After looking about to see just what her partner had made angry this time, a Pokemon surfaced from the nearby pond, its plantlike head looking about wildly for something or someone.

“Lovely... Pierrot, out of all the Pokemon in the area, you had to mess with one of the resurrected ones?” Makina groaned, covering her face with a hand. “Before I have to sort out this mess, don't suppose you are interested in a Cradily?”

"Fair enough. By the looks of it Pierrot already beat us to the punch," Makina said in response, and Argent nodded in acknowledgement of this -- he had seen Makina's Banette walking off on his own, obviously to see what was near. Argent didn't really blame the Pokémon -- sitting around on a run was nothing very exciting, of course, which was why a lot of people and creatures were eager to move onwards in their runs, because the anticipation was always something pleasant. In the distance, Argent could see that the Ghost-type was looking into a pond by a moss-covered rock. The rest of the grove that they had entered was quite peaceful-seeming, although there was a sense that it was teeming with energy. The area was fairly large, but that was understandable, seeing how the numerous trees needed much room to grow properly. The sun was faint through the leaves of the branches above their heads, but it partially filtered through, the singular rays illuminating the patches of ground that they touched. As well as that, the trees and shrubs that surrounded them promised nearby Pokémon, so Argent was hoping that they'd encounter something soon.

"Would you like to continue looking around here? There's a trail not far from us if you would like to look somewhere else," Makina suggested, but before Argent could reply, a large amount of splashing and a deafening roar overwhelmed Argent's thoughts for the moment, and he turned to the source of the noise. Argent noticed Makina tensing, her hand going near the Poké Balls that he could see she was keeping with her. A dark blur was dashing towards them, and Argent realised from the flash of a creepy grin that this was Pierrot. A Pokémon rose to the surface of the pond that Pierrot had been looking in, and only then did Argent realise the source of all that noise. Makina reprimanded her Banette, and then offered the chance to catch the Cradily to Argent. Looking at the ferocity of the beast, Argent shook his head.

"Er, no thanks, Makina. I'll help sort out the Cradily, if you need -- I'd like to continue exploring this area, too." Argent let a smile play about his lips. He just hoped the Cradily would let him be.

Argent took a curious look over at the Cradily, but came to a decision rather quickly. “Er, no thanks, Makina. I'll help sort out the Cradily, if you need,” he offered, then continued, “I'd like to continue exploring this area, too.”

Makina nodded, grateful for the help. While she was pretty certain that she could handle a single annoyed Pokemon, it was always good to have a fellow Ranger for backup in these situations. Thankfully, it would not be needed in this case. After sweeping the immediate area around it once more, the Cradily gave a low grumble before sinking down into the pond once more.

They continued searching the grove, combing the area for signs of any other Pokemon lurking about. Pierrot, still slightly shaken from his recent encounter, stuck behind Makina as a sort of second shadow. Unfortunately, the Banette would probably be back to his same antics once they left this area.

One of the nearby smaller trees began to shake, the lower branches on the far side of them quivering as something was trying to move about stealthily and failing terribly at it. As Makina approached to discover what was causing the commotion, a Pokemon hopped out from behind the trunk, clutching an orange in its short red claws. The mushroom cap adorning the head and matching red claws sporting the feet easily identified the creature for what it was.

Makina took another look at the lower branch, giving a low whistle as she judged the distance between the wild Pokemon and the tree limb- a good few feet away. She had heard before that Breloom were impressive jumpers, but it was still quite a feat. “Quite a jumper, this one. Interested in a Breloom?”

OOC: Eh, I can't be bothered with writing 25k for Breloom. I'll pass.

Argent needed have offered to help Makina if the Cradily got out of hand, he thought. Looking upon his colleague, he realised that she was a little more competent than he had subconsciously given her credit for, and he hadn't even known that his offers for help were nothing more than simply because he thought that, as a woman, she was a little bit more unable to cope than a man -- that was a pretty stupid assumption of his, and Chimey would probably have slapped him about the face with his tail. While not exactly a woman, Chimey was definitely female, and just as vivacious and brave as any male could be -- the same going for his fiancée, Clara. Even though he would offer to help his fiancée in a heartbeat, she was probably more adapted to crises than he was himself, and that was probably saying something. In any case, Argent was a little surprised, but realised that there was nothing to be done for it. He just put those strangely sexist thoughts from his mind, and watched as the Cradily glared imperially at them all, but, with a sweeping movement, it scuttled away from the area and into its pond once more, submerging into the water as if it had lost interest. That sort of surprised Argent -- he had seen this happen before, but it was always really weird for him; one minute, the creature had been extremely angry; the next, it was sliding away from them as if it didn't give a damn. The mindset of wild Pokémon was a complete mystery to him. They were all insane. That was the truth. Really.

As they moved onwards through the grove, Argent kept his eyes peeled for any signs of Pokémon. Argent noticed that Pierrot was a little shaky still from his close shave with the Cradily. Argent couldn't blame him -- the large creature would have scared the wits out of anyone if it decided to chase them. So, clinging to Makina like a sort of second shadow, Pierrot glanced nervously around Makina's legs as she walked, but didn't do much else. Argent suppressed a chuckle as he watched the antics of the Banette, finding them indeed amusing. One of the smaller trees in the area began to shake wildly, as if something was failing incredibly at trying to be stealthy. As Makina approached, a Breloom hopped out from behind the trunk, looking towards the party. He bent his legs quietly, and then sprang into the air, landing neatly on the limb of one of the nearby trees. Makina gave a surprised whistle as she judged the distance, but quickly turned to Argent.

"Quite a jumper, this one. Interested in a Breloom?" she asked.

"Eh, no thanks, Makina," Argent replied. Plus, it doesn't seem all that bright, he added to Chimey.

Yeah, can't have it stalking through the world like an earthquake, can we? Chimey asked in a false show of brightness.

Though he appeared to seriously consider battling this current Pokemon- after all, Breloom were quite the prize- Argent finally shook his head in response, “Eh, no thanks, Makina.”

Makina shrugged, then attempted to quietly lead the group away from the Breloom. Fortunately for them, it appeared to be more focused on its current snack than the surroundings, so it looked to be an easy escape. In a show of both Murphy's Law and the fact that Banette had the short-term memory of a goldfish, Pierrot chose this moment to finally make himself a hindrance to Chimey. Having sneaked away from Makina, the Marionette Pokemon skulked silently behind the Chimecho before suddenly dashing in front of her from the shadows. The action caused Chimey to start, making a slight chiming noise.

The chiming caught the Breloom's attention immediately, and it managed to block them off in two short hops. For the moment the Grass-type's meal was forgotten; now it was clearly interested in the two nearby Pokemon. Seeing that Argent was already fishing out his wallet once more, Makina quickly tossed a random Pokedoll from her pack and placed it in front of them. Seeing the new toy, Breloom decided that the item was far more interesting than anything else at the moment. Silently accepting the required money from Argent and glaring at Pierrot, Makina led them towards the edge of the grove.

In this area the trees were far more spread out and much younger than the other trees they had passed earlier; most were mere saplings, having sprouted a scant couple years ago. There were other plants in the area of course- it was the Gardens after all- though a few species of flora were unfamiliar to Makina.

It was in one of these unknown flora patches that their next encounter resided, an obese feline Pokemon with a spiraling tail and sporting a face that only a mother could love. Currently the creature appeared to be fixated on only the plant, even rolling about in the stuff as if it couldn't get enough of the feel or smell of it.

“Interested in a Purugly?” Makina asked Argent.
