Ranger Ivy

Ivy brushed her reddish hair away from her face and stretched as she took a look around her small office in the Ranger Registration Office. After about a week of adjusting to her new job, she had finally found the time to unpack her box of stuff from its temporary home on top of her desk. She didn't own much other than some photos and other homey objects like her good luck paperweight in the shape of a Pokéball, but it made the place look a little less like an abandoned closet and more like someone actually worked there.

Now that the holiday craze was dying down, she was ready to settle into the normal routine of Park maintenance and taking Trainers on runs. She weaved around the rectangular steel desk to get to the door, taking a peek into the hall and the stationary stand next to the plaque with her name on it. There was a manila folder resting on top, where she would be sure to see it. It looked like someone had dropped off a run for her while she was unpacking.

She grabbed it, opening the flap as she walked back into her office. She had a first-timer's trip lined up for today. She scanned the contents of the file, learning that her Trainer's name was Ty and that he wanted to go through the Woods. She thought that was an appropriate place to go for the first time in the Park with a large selection of Pokémon to see. He had a nice selection of partners on file as well, and she was sure they'd help them navigate the area easily.

She put the paperwork neatly on her desk so she could fill the rest of it out when they finished the run. Checking her pants pockets, she made sure she had a couple of 'just in case' items if her Trainer happened to get into a bind, as well as practical things like a flashlight and the coiled rope she snapped onto her belt. Scanning the room, there was just one more thing she needed before she could leave.

“Haxbat, Haxbat, where did you go?”

She leafed through papers in her desk drawers and peered under her chair trying to glimpse her Crobat's Pokéball. At first, he refused to come near the building, being too cautious of all the new people. Lately he had gotten used to all of them, but unfortunately, a near six foot bat was not practical inside a busy office building, so into the ball he went. If she recalled correctly, she also thought there was also a ranger here that really didn't like members of the Crobat family, and she didn't want to start anything her second week on the job.

“Ah, there you are.” The red and white ball sat inconspicuously on top of her gray filing cabinet, and she snatched it up as she headed out, sure to close the door behind her.

From there, she made her way outside, only waving to the others she saw, not wanting to disturb them. She emerged from the building into bright sunlight, and she was glad it was supposed to be a nice day. The Woods could get dark in places, and she would take any help that she could get with that.

Ivy threw Haxbat's ball into the air, smiling as the large bat stretched his wings with a relieving noise. She caught the returning ball on reflex and watched her bat fly several figure eights through the air before coming to hover next to her. The Woods was only a short ways away, so she would just wait for her Trainer here. Sometimes a Trainer and Ranger agreed to meet at the place, but the main outpost was the easiest to find, and that would probably be better for someone who had never been here before.

The Woods area was visible in the distance, the trees lining up to make a straight path into the forest. Ivy was looking forward to having a good time, hoping that they would see some interesting Pokémon on the trip. With that thought, she leaned against the front of the main outpost and waited with her Crobat at her side.

I enjoyed the sun as I traveled towards the outpost. This was my first time on this island and so far I like it here. Fresh grass below my feet and a warm sky above my head. I will have to come back here again after his run ends, I thought to myself.

"This place is pretty nice ain't it Banditos?" I asked my lupine companion. The Typhlosion nodded slightly in agreement. We continued on our little trek towards where we're supposed to meet our guide. I silently wondered how this whole thing will go. While no stranger to being let loose into a forest this is the first time that I would have to follow a guide and rules. This is going to be a new experience for me and I find it exciting.

After a while we saw the ranger oupost not far ahead of . "Hey, that's where we are supposed to meet up with our ranger. Wanna race to see who gets there first" Before I even finished my sentence Banditos was off like a shot. I wasn't to far behind him after long. We raced through the trees like a pair of rockets both trying to pass up the other one. As we dashed through the brush we soon wound up in a clearing and I quicly noticed a humanoid shape right ahead of me. There is no time to stop now, might as well keep the momentum going.

"Hi there," I said, kindly greeting the redhaired femme I was now sitting on top of. "I'm Ty you must be Ivy"

Ranger Ivy Frost

A rustling made Haxbat make an alerting sound, and Ivy stepped away from the smooth building wall and stilled, trying to listen. “Yeah, I hear it. Sounds like it's getting closer.” The ground shook lightly, and now that she was focused on it, there seemed to be two forms making the ruckus. She peered into the surrounding trees, but the foliage prevented her from seeing the source.

She didn't get much time to think about it. As soon as she stepped closer to the trees, a figure came barreling out of them. There was no time to react, and she was taken down as she was slid into.

Ivy was thrown back onto the ground as someone landed on top of her, sliding through the gravel a few feet. A cloud of dust puffed up, and she closed her eyes and coughed. After a few moments she could see again, and when she looked up, she was greeted by a face surrounded by long brown hair. If hers didn't crinkle at the end so much, they would probably be the same length.

“Hi there,” he said. “I'm Ty. You must be Ivy.”

She smiled and nodded as he moved to get off. He laughed as he stood up, offering her a hand. She took it and was pulled up, and she took the time to dust off her red vest that was now dyed light brown. Haxbat hovered behind her, having flown back to her after being startled by Ty's abrupt entrance.

“Indeed I am. I'll be taking you through the Woods today.”

She got a good look at him now that she was upright. He was still smiling, and she was glad for that. She didn't really know how to deal with someone who would've apologized profusely. It wasn't a big deal. She could take things in stride, and it made her feel better that she got an easy-going Trainer this time.

He was a little scrawny, with a torn trench coat and camouflage pants. He also was missing shoes and a shirt. She briefly wondered if the rocks in the gravel hurt his feet at all, but figured that someone who didn't wear shoes regularly would be used to it. The first thing that came to mind was one of those lost travelers in the woods. His long hair was straight and neat though, and she was fairly sure he was harmless. Maybe.

His partner Pokémon was a Typhlosion. It was about her height, average, and had cream and dark fur with a ring of fire near its neck that could be extinguished at will. Thinking back to the paperwork, she recalled that he had another Fire type with him as well. She knew fire was a good match up for most things in the Woods, but she couldn't help but be a little nervous about possible problems. It was her first real week on the job. She didn't want to get fired.

Still, Ty's smiling was reassuring, and she would rather have an interesting run than a mundane one.

“I know this is your first time here, so here's how these runs usually work. I'll guide you through the woods so you can see as many Pokémon as possible. For the most part I'll offer up routes to take and let you choose what one sounds the best to you.” She continued as he nodded. “I'll try to make it as fun as possible. Hopefully we find something you want to catch.”

She started walking towards where the path began at the entrance of the Woods. “Now if you follow me, we can get this run started.”

They traveled a short way into the woods before the path split, and Ivy came to a halt as she spoke. “To start we can either go to the right-”she motioned down the path where trees were moderately spaced and there was some light filtering down from the canopy, “-or to the left.” She waved toward that path next, where the walkway got darker the farther in it went. Trees were closer together and the foliage was thicker. There was only a little light.

She waited for his decision as Crobat started weaving through the trees, disappearing ninja-like at times.

I got up off of the ranger and took a moment to examine her. She was an average looking femme with red hair almost as long as mine. Her clothes seemed to be absolutly filthy. It's quite a shame that the park would give out such dirty uniforms to thier employes, but I guess maybe they can't keep them all in good shape.

We walked a talked a short ways until the woods came to a fork. Ivy came to a halt so I took a break to see why. "To start we can go to the right-" pointing down a path where the tees were thinner and the sun came down nicely, "-or to the left." She motioned towards a darker path where the trees grew closer and the plants grew thicker.

As much as I love bathing in the sun I was here to abduct portable monstrosities, a task much easier if they can't see you. I jumped onto Banditos back and pointed towards the left path. "The left path is better for stalking prey. Lets take that one Ivy. YAH!" I kneed Banditos in the sides and tried to get him to move forward. He responded by picking me up and throwing me off of him. "Walking is fine too. Come on"

Ty considered her question for a moment, but she couldn't tell what he was thinking. Sometimes she wished she had a Psychic type Pokémon so she could have a better idea of what people around her were thinking. The Trainer chuckled to himself, and she reconsidered her previous thought. Maybe she really didn't want to know what everyone was thinking.

Suddenly, Ty jumped up on his Typhlosion and waved his arm toward the left while calling out, "The left path is better for stalking prey. Lets take that one, Ivy. YAH!"

He attempted to knee his Pokémon in the sides, but the Fire type was having none of that. In one smooth motion he rolled his shoulder and reached behind to latch onto Ty's trench coat with his teeth, and then pulled hard and threw the Trainer off, causing him to roll onto the flattened grass and gravel and kick up a mini dirt cloud. The dirt reminded her of her own spill, and she subconsciously brushed at her own clothes. The black and red were mostly normal colored now.

Ty took the fall in stride, getting up almost immediately. It made her wonder if he did these sorts of things regularly. “Walking is fine too. Come on!” he said.

Ivy just shook her head and took a step toward the darker path, choosing to not comment on his prey statement. A chatter from Haxbat made her stop, however, and his warning caused her to look back toward the right hand path.

The bushes wobbled and rustled as she saw a small pink Pokémon waddle out of them. It was around two feet tall and ball-shaped, with floppy yellow-tipped ears. She recognized it as a Whismur. It was strange to see one in this part of the woods, since she normally saw them in caves. Either way, they would have to be careful. Whismur got scared easily, and since they took in air from the holes near their ears, they could cry very loudly for a really, really long time.

“Hey, Ty, looks like we stumbled on a Whismur.” She took a few steps towards the left hand path to put more space between them. Crobat also edged toward her, trying to remain unseen so he didn't startle the small thing. “Any interest in catching this little one?”

We scurried along the path for only a short distance before we stopped again. My guide's floatdevil started making noises which caused her to stop for a moment and turn towards the other path. I turned to see what was going on over there, I didn't see anything but I did suddenly notice a new scent around us.

"Hey ,Ty," Ivy called, "Looks like we stumbled upon a whismur." I turned to look at what we encountered. It was a little pink ball with odd floppy ears drooping over it. "Any interest in catching this little one."

I had to think about this one for a while. On the one hand Whismur is an interesting creature and evolved into quite the power house. On the other hand Whismur isn't particularly high on my capture list and I can only keep 3 mons I find here, what if I find something better. On the third hand... This isn't my limb. "Oh, sorry was busy thinking," I quickly relinquished Ivy's arm and turned back to the little ball on the floor. "I think I'll go for it," I quickly reached into one of coats pockets and pulled out some headphones, I don't know these things well, but I know that they get LOUD. "Banditos we are going try to catch this portable monstrosity, you ready?"

He howled a bit and let loose a burst of flame from his back. "Phlosion" He shook his head a bit and got ready to fight.

"Great we don't want to knock the little thing out so lets try to go a bit easy on it, no point in destroying half the island just for one little ball. Unleash your Hidden Power then slam into it with a Flame Wheel."

As soon as I finished my sentence Banditos nodded in aproval and his eyes started to get a dark glow around them. For a second they flashed and black orbs shot out of thin air at the whismur. Immediatly afterwards Banditos started to charge at the tiny whismur, the friction from his fur caused the air around him to ignite coating him in a veil of flames as he went to slam into the tiny ball. I watched it carefully planning for every possible outcome.

Ty thought about his choice for a long time, and Ivy was glad he was taking it seriously. A lot of people dismissed smaller, more basic Pokémon in favor of tougher looking ones without realizing that if you trained them, the smaller ones could be just as powerful.

The Trainer made motions with his hands like he was weighing out his options as she backed up toward him, keeping her eyes on the Whismur. It hadn't taken any action yet, but she knew that with wild Pokémon, that could change in an instant.

Suddenly, she felt a grip on her arm, and she quizzically looked over to Ty to see him lost deep in thought while latched to her. His eyes focused a second later, and he quickly let go. “Oh sorry, was busy thinking.” She just shook her head as he took a step forward, looking at the small pink ball. “I think I'll go for it,” he finally said, reaching into his pocket to pull out a pair of headphones. Ivy wasn't exactly sure what he was going to use them for, but she assumed it was the possible noise factor. She made a mental note for her next run. That was actually a great idea.

“Banditos, we are going to try and catch this portable monstrosity. You ready?” His Typhlosion howled in response, letting the ring of flames around his neck flare up with anticipation.

Ty ordered his Pokémon to use a Hidden Power Flame Wheel combo, warning him to take it easy so they didn't knock the small thing out. Banditos nodded as he eyes started to glow dark. They pulsed, and black orbs matching the type of power within formed before shooting off in a spiral towards the Whisper Pokémon (which she thought was an odd choice of name). The Typhlosion wasted no time in charging behind his other attack, his fur fading to flames as he charged.

By now the Whismur had caught on to what was happening. Ivy half feared it was going to run away in fright, but it only took several steps backward so the low forest foliage was almost surrounding it. It took a deep breath, and Ivy only had time to wince before it started howling, its arms, ears, and legs thrashing about as it caused as much noise as it could.

It danced about, knocking leaves loose and causing dirt and stray grass to kick up around it. The Hidden Power caught up to it then, but some of the debris snuffed out the orbs before they could make contact. A few found their mark however, striking the pink Pokémon from the right, causing it to stumble forward onto the path again. Banditos was right behind, and he barreled straight through the leaves still hanging in the air. They only obstructed his vision slightly, so even though his charge was slowed, he still hit the Whismur with a solid smack. It was still failing about, and the Volcano Pokémon flinched slightly as he hurt lightly. The Whismur was sent rolling backwards a few feet down the lighter path, and since it was slower in getting up, she knew it had endured quite a bit of damage. The leaves that made contact with the Typhlosion ignited and started to burn, falling to the ground in charred embers.

The impact had silenced the pink ball for the time being, and there was almost silence as a few leaves burned up and Banditos panted. Ivy waited to see what Ty would do next.

The little creamcake backed away from Banditos's charge. At first I thought it was going to run away, that may be a problem, if I'm chasing something I can garuntee that it won't be caught alive. Luckily it didn't and instead started to thrash around wildly It's mouth looked like it was making quite the fuss but I couldn't hear anything over my music. It's little uproar caused leaves and twigs to be thrown into the air forming a makeshift barrier. It prevented some of the hidden power orbs from connecting, but a majority of them still hit their mark knocking the little thing about. Immediatly after Banditos smashed into whismur sending it flying the little puff delivered a single solid smack before being flung away but it didn't look like it did much. As Banditos took a small break from his charge. The debris that was kicked up ignited when it got near Banditos as he started panting.

"Alright I think it's almost time to catch it Banditos" I said reaching into my trenchcoat and pulling out a small dicolored orb. "I just want you to shoot a few more embers towards it after which I'll hit it with this parkball."

There are times I almost feel guilty for what I do. Like now for example where I am attacking a beach ball with what is essentially a mixture between a wolf and a churchil crocodile tank. Luckily something shiny usually catches my eye and I forget the whole thing. Oh, like now, hey there mr cotton fluff how are you. I follow it around for a while and see it float over Ivy. I start climbing over her to get it but I guess little miss clumsy lost her balance.

She yanks the headphones off of my head. "Aren't you forgetting something? You should focus." She said back to me. I don't think I am.... Oh wait yeah the smushorb I turned back to Banditos who was just getting ready to use an ember. His mouth was shooting out a few tiny fires which would barely do much to a grown pokemon. As they flew towards the Whismur I also hurled my parkball at it hoping that I would hit my mark.

“Alright, I think it's almost time to catch it, Banditos,” Ty said. He reached into his trench coat and pulled out a small, green-tinted orb that was revealed to be a regular Parkball. “I just want you to shoot a few more embers towards it and then I'll hit it with this Parkball.”

Ty had a moment of stillness as Banditos geared into action, like the Trainer was thinking deeply about something. His Pokémon gathered his power, his mouth starting to glow as he prepared to use an Ember attack on the Whismur. The small Pokémon was pretty worn out by now, but it was still standing its ground. Ivy had been worried that it might run away before, but she was confident now that it was going to stick around for the outcome. A weaker fire move was a good call on Ty's part. She wasn't sure how much damage the little thing could take, but another complicated move might just make it faint.

A puff ball floated across her vision, breaking her concentration on the battle. Then, she let out an 'oomph' as she met the ground for the second time that day, falling sideways to land on her right arm as Ty seemingly went through her. She stayed looking up at the canopy for a second as she sighed. She leaned forward and propped herself up as she called out, “What was that for?”

Getting no response, her brow furrowed. Spotting a small rock nearby, she lodged it at the Trainer, still receiving no answer as it bounced harmlessly off his trench coat. Then she spotted the headphones dangling from his ears. He was curiously following the fluff and paying attention to nothing else, and Ivy took a second to wonder what in the world this Trainer was on. She got a strange one.

Getting up, she walked over and pulled the bud from his left ear, finally catching his attention. “Aren't you forgetting something?” she asked, nodding her head toward the battle still being waged. “You should focus.”

He had a puzzled look on his face for a second before he remembered, and he turned in time to see Banditos jerk his head forward and release the fires he was holding. They were small, but the flames shot toward the Whismur like an elemental bullet, the embers curling around the already injured Pokémon.

The Whismur backed up in slight panic as the flames surrounded it, opening its mouth and letting out another loud wail. Miraculously, it started to shake the ground a little, rustling the leaves and rattling small stones on the path. A loud crack sounded, and a stray branch fell from above, landing on Banditos' skull. He made a disgruntled noise before stepping back and shaking his head clear.

Ty chose that moment to let his Parkball fly, sailing over the flames towards the small, pink creature. It hit with a 'thwap', silencing the crying Pokémon as it was sucked inside the ball in a swirly beam of red light. The shaking stopped as they all went quiet, watching the Parkball wobble back and worth.

Ping!

The ball made the approving noise as it stilled, and Ivy smiled as she walked over to it. She picked it up and slid it into one of her cargo pockets, since Rangers were required to hold onto any Pokémon caught until the end of the trip.

“Congratulations. You caught your first Pokémon in the park.” She let the information sink in before continuing. “Just let me know when you're ready to continue on. If you want to take a breather or something, that's fine by me.”

Ivy collected the branch that had fallen on the Typhlosion and chucked it off the path. She didn't want anyone from another run or some wild Pokémon stumbling over it. These paths were frequently used.

“Oh, I was meaning to ask you, Ty, are you looking for any specific Pokémon here?”

Ping

My parkball confirmed my successful kill. I dropped down to start running over to it but Ivy walked over in front of me and picked up the park ball first. She pocketed the thing and I finally remembered that I don't get my mon until the park run ends.

“Congratulations. You caught your first Pokémon in the park.” I thought about this for a moment. I only just got here and I already caught something. So far this park run is going really well. Yay me. “Just let me know when you're ready to continue on. If you want to take a breather or something, that's fine by me.”

She walked over to toss the branch that hit Banditos onto the side of the road. I recalled that even though he was in control I scratched Banditos behind the ears for doing such a good job, I hope the next battle he's in he gets hurt less. “Oh, I was meaning to ask you, Ty, are you looking for any specific Pokémon here?” Ivy asked.

"Yeah actually," I replied "I'm aiming for a yanma, I've wanted one for quite some time now" I tolded at Ivy, reaching back in my coat pockets. "If you don't mind I think I'll let some of my other friends come on out" I said while pulling out 2 more pokeballs. I let them fly up into the air and open up releasing 2 more creatures to join the walking inferno I've been petting. The first one was a giant dinosaurian creatur with horns and armor everywhere on it. It looked like it could go right up against a tank and win without a scratch, and it was my first pet. The second was a beautiful multitailed grey fox. She let her coat shine in the few rays that pierced the thick canopy. She basked in a sun for a moment before she hopped over towards my side and demanded ear scritches as well. Gurren came over too and asked for some attention. "Well I'm ready to go whenever you are lets head out."

Ranger Ivy Frost

“Yeah, actually, I'm aiming for a Yanma. I've wanted one for quite some time now,” Ty said in response to Ivy's question. Yanma were dragonfly-type Pokémon that were pretty strong. She had only seen a couple of them in her entire life, and she hoped that they would see one today, especially since Ty sounded like he would like the chance to capture one.

“If you don't mind, I think I'll let some of my other friends come on out,” he said, reaching into his coat to pull out two Pokéballs. He sent them flying, and in two flashes of red light, two creatures appeared and went up to their Trainer, seeming to demand for attention.

The first one was a gray reptilian creature that had red patches of armor all over it and a drill horn on its nose. The massive Pokémon was a Rhyperior, the final form of Rhyhorn. It looked like it could face off against a tank no problem, and she believed it. The second was a beautiful slate gray fox with many tails. Her coat shined, and the Ninetales joined the Rhyperior in wanted to be petted.

If Ivy remembered correctly from the file, Ty still had one more Pokémon with him. She wondered if it was ever going to get any screen time. She couldn't recall what it was for sure.

“Well, I'm ready to go whenever you are. Let's head out.”

Ivy nodded and started down the darker left path that he had specified before the Whismur appeared with Haxbat weaving through the trees to her left. Ty followed behind, and their footsteps started to be more and more muffled as wild grass took over the gravel path. The canopy thickened, and with each step they took, the path became darker and more eerie. The trees were more populous in this part of the Woods, though the ground was littered with underbrush and fallen logs on either side of the path.

Suddenly, a snapping branch stilled her footsteps as her Crobat swooped in close to her. They looked at each other before Ivy walked over to the edge of the trees and peered into them. Haxbat hovered at her shoulder, just in case he was needed. The bushes rustled as the Ranger and her Pokémon stilled. Then, a form burst out of them, landing on the grassy path.

“Eevee!” it cried.

“Well, what do you know,” Ivy said. “I hear that Eevee is really sought after for its evolution potential.” They weren't exactly rare here in the park, but they weren't common either.

The small brown fox got a playful look in its eye as it bounded into the trees again, stopping a few feet to climb up a fallen tree that was slanted like a ramp. Ivy jumped up onto another fallen log at the edge of the path to get a better look. The Eevee looked like it wanted to be followed. Maybe it would be willing to battle Ty.

She turned back towards her Trainer and grinned as the prospect of an adventure gripped her. She always loved a great journey. They would have to stray off the well-used path and into the darkness, but she was confident that she and Haxbat could navigate them back onto the path afterwards. She wasn't going to get lost or stranded. Again.

“Well, what do you say Ty? Do you want to give chase to the Eevee? It might be up for a battle. That is, if you're up for a potentially risky trip through the underbrush.” She grinned again, waiting for his answer.

The two of us walked for a little while down the darker path the undergrowth grew thicker the farther we went and I felt my more primal instincts start to kick in I slowly started to hunch over and let my senses take in all that is around me. I could smell every single creature around. I know where that floatdevil has been to before, and I could taste where Ivy has been before. My hearing picked up the faintest movements from my pets and I was ready for anything.

I heard a branch snap and I fell down to all fours and got ready for the hunt, Tipsy Fox also heard it and picking up on my movements crouched down as well. Ivy and the float devil also stopped but they looked less ready for chasing, come on if you don't try you don't eat. Suddenly the bushes parted and a small brown foxlike creature burst through.

"Eevee!" it mewed.

“Well, what do you know,” Ivy stated. “I hear that Eevee is really sought after for its evolution potential.” I knew people liked collecting Eevee's. I was one of them although I did it cause they are cute. So cute infact that I am frozen with cuteness overload. It was so cute and playful jumping up onto a nearby log and climbing up. Ivy chased after it onto another stump I just stood there crouched on all fours overcome with cute. It started wagging it's tail like it wanted to play that made me break out of my trance, this cute little thing wanted to play, and I feel like playing. This is gonna be a fun day!

“Well, what do you say Ty? Do you want to give chase to the Eevee? It might be up for a battle. That is, if you're up for a potentially risky trip through the underbrush.” She said turning back towards me.

"Colon three three!" I announced while leaping into the undergrowth after the eevee.

I dug into my trenchcoat to try and find the 4th ball I brought with me. It seems it feel deeper into my pocket then the others thus explaining why he wasn't sent out earlier. Opening the small orb out came the fourth and final pet I brought. It was smaller then the rest, having not fully evolved yet, but still someone I would rely on he was a tan and green dragonflish creature who evolved from an antlion. I called him Capn Crunch. "Brava" he exclaimed on his release. I looked over at the little eevee and smiled. "Sooooo cute," I said aloud "I almost don't want to fight you..... oh well. Alright Cap lets try to slow it down in case it tries to escape use a Dragon Breath to try and slow it down. Try to keep your distance I don't remember Eevee having much in the form of range." Capn Crunch flew over towards the adorable little Eevee. Before he got withing striking range from the little mons perspective he released a stream of brilliant green and yellow flames from his mouth. The beautiful flames I knew had a chance to do more then just damage and I was relying on this happening. I watched the eevee to try and see what it would do next and decide my next move.

Ranger Ivy Frost

Ivy turned back to her Trainer to get his response, pausing as she took in the scene. Ty was crouched down, much like a wild animal during the hunt. His Ninetales was mimicking the position, looking alert and peering through the trees at the Eevee. Both of their noses flared as they took in the scents of the Woods, lighting up their eyes with a sense of wildness that was amazing.

The Ranger just shook her head. Ty was one of the strangest people she had ever met. He acted more like an untamed Pokémon than a person at times, letting himself be consumed with instinct and little else. It was incredible, and she could only imagine the rush he must get from it.

“Colon three three!” he shouted as he jetted into the trees after the Eevee. Ivy just scratched at her head, getting somewhat used to his random actions.

Ty crashed through the trees and dug into his coat, brining out another Pokéball. He released the Pokémon inside with a flash of red, and a greenish dragonfly emerged. “Brava,” it cried, seeming pleased with being out of its ball. She recognized the three foot Pokémon as Vibrava, a dual Ground and Dragon type. It was smaller than his other partners, so Ivy thought it fitting to be able to dart more easily through the trees after their new opponent. She wondered if he had been saving releasing it just for this.

“Sooooo cute,” he said, and Ivy tried not to laugh. It was amusing that such a tough seeming guy would love cute things.

Ty instructed his Vibrava, who he called Cap to use a Dragon Breath to slow the Eevee down and prevent its escape. It was a good plan for the most part, as sometimes wild Pokémon tended to be skiddish and run away. However, she didn't have time to call out her sudden thought before the dragon released shining green and yellow flames towards the small fox. She inwardly winced as they rushed towards the Eevee, as well as the foliage.

The Eevee quickly dashed to the side before the full force of the flames could hit it, using the fallen logs as a launch pad to spring to the side. Pieces of bark kicked up, peppering the surroundings with debris as the flames licked at the trees. A few of the dryer areas sparked, turning the rich green into a bright orange that flickered and cracked.

“Ack, watch the trees!” she called, imagining the whole forest being set on fire and burning to the ground. It was still her first week. She had promised no more emergencies. Luckily, it wasn't spreading too far. They could put it out before it got serious.

The Vibrava, seeing it's flame miss, took the opportunity to charge closer to the fox. It seemed it didn't want to stay completely long range. It rushed forward, and the Eevee leaped up. The dragonfly was stunned for a second, and the fox used the approached dragon to plant its feet, doing a flip as it sailed backwards. It hit the ground with a slide, shooting sand where Cap was hovering and beyond.

Twigs and leaves mixed with the dirt, making an improvised Sand-attack. Most of it missed Cap as he weaved to the side, but the rest splashed onto the trees, muffling out the growing embers. Ivy breathed a sigh of relief as the crisped leaves fell harmlessly to the forest floor. There would be no forest fires right that second.

The Eevee called out happily as it dashed farther into the woods, gaining speed as it got farther away. It turned back for a second, bobbing in place like it wanted to be followed. The Ranger wondered where it was leading them. Ivy jumped off her stump in preparation to move in case Ty gave chase. Somehow she figured he would, but it was his choice either way. She would have to check the damage from the small flames too, even if he didn't.

Ivy waited for Ty to make a motion.

I watched carefully while the flames missed thier target. I silently watched as they continued their path and set the trees on fire. Oh yeah I forgot, trees are pretty much concentrated phlogiston. I GUESS I'll have to put out the fire or Ivy will prally get in trouble. Cap rushed forward at the Eevee only to be used as a spring board, It then used a sand attack missing Crunch and putting out the fire. I guess thats one problem solved. Sadly the dragon breath barely did anything to it. Eevee let out some happy noises and dashed further into the woods. At least it still feels like playing.

"Gurren, Fox, Banditos come on I don't want to lose you guys while I get lost in the forest." I shouted to the rest of my pokemon. I hear Tipsy Fox and banditos slip into the woods quietly. Gurren I think even guides in other parts of the park heard. "Maybe it's best if I recall you for a moment, just till we're back on the main trail." I don't like leaving him in his ball and I think he doesn't either but there are times where we can't have a giant dinosaur wandering around you know. "Capn don't let it get too far ahead of us keep following it" I yelled while falling down on all fours and chasing after the Eevee with Crunch. "I don't want it to think we aren't going to still give attack while we run, let loose a SonicBoom" As soon as it was said Vibrava started beatig his wings heavily in the direction of Eevee. The heavy beating caused a massive cresent to be shot out at the eevee cutting down the trees in it's way as it shot towards Eevee. I kept running trying to keep up with Capn Crunch and Eevee, with Fox and Banditos right by my side.

Ranger Ivy Frost

Ty called to his Pokémon to follow him after the Eevee, and Ivy watched as his Ninetales and Typhlosion slipped into the woods almost silently, like true hunters. It seemed that the Trainer and his Pokémon shared similar traits, and the Ranger wondered what type of training they undertook.

His Rhyperior started to follow, and the armored lizard set the trees and ground trembling each time he took a lumbering step. The trees groaned and foliage crunched under his feet, and Ty made a motion for Gurren to stop. “Maybe it's best if I recall you for a moment, just 'til we're back on the main trail.” He didn't look like he wanted to, but Ivy appreciated that he considered how out of place the large Pokémon would be maneuvering through the thicker trees.

Ty instructed his Pokémon to keep following the brown fox as he started to dash after the Eevee himself. He called out for his Vibrava to use a Sonic Boom attack, and Ivy watched as the dragonfly rushed to catch up to the fox. He started to beat his heavily, manifesting crescent waves in front of him that shot out in sharp arcs towards the smaller Pokémon.

The attack raced as Vibrava tried to catch up to it, slicing through foliage and some of the thinner trees as it went. Ivy flinched as they fell, joining the debris already littering the ground. Farther ahead, Eevee was staying just ahead of the wind onslaught. The attack gained force and sent one of the fallen logs rolling forward, speeding up just enough to hit the back of Eevee's foot.

She went somersaulting tail over ear but recovered quickly, only stumbling for a second before continuing her dash further into the trees. Ty and his Pokémon followed her.

“Haxbat, stay with them!” Ivy shouted, and the Crobat chattered his compliance as he picked up speed, weaving through the canopy after the Trainer.

Ivy hurried over to the trees, checking for damage. She crouched down to where one of them had snapped, reaching out to brush the stump. The trunk was cut cleanly, revealing the power of Ty's Pokémon. Looking at it, she saw there weren't too many trees that were damaged. Most of the ones hit had been young and thin, and she was pretty sure new ones would grow in their place soon. The damage wasn't too bad, so she sprinted off to catch up with her Trainer.

She caught up shortly, slowing to a jog as she came up to Ty. The Eevee had led them to a clearing where the canopy opened up into clear blue sky and the sun beat down onto the wavy grass. It was edged by the thick trees, forming a make shift arena. The Eevee was crouched down and growling in a playful manner on the other side of the field, ready for whatever would happen next.

Haxbat swooped down behind her shoulder, and Ivy patted him as he cooed happily. In a slightly breathier voice from her run, she asked, “Now that you have your own battle arena, what're you going to do now?”

The sonic boom didn't do what it needed to but at least there are fewer trees here now. Then agian that might not be a good thing. I hopped over the sliced trees and continued following the eevee's fluffy little tail. Not soon after though it seems all the trees disapeared. Replacing them was warmth and light. I took a quick moment to stretch and absorb some of the warmth myself. Always good to take a break in the sun.

The sound of something growling drawed my gaze away from the fireorb towards the source. Eevee was still here and was still ready to battle. She lead me to a rather nice clearing here too this will make a good battlefield. I heard Ivy start talking again. “Now that you have your own battle arena, what're you going to do now?” The exhausted femme said while petting her floatdevil.

I promptly fell backwards and closed my eyes. Sunny fields are things you don't pass up. Although Eevee's are another grand oppurunity you don't skip. "Cap!" I hollered hoping he was still with me. I waited till I heard the beating wings get nearer, "Lets make this more like home shall we, Earthquake please." I didn't look up but I knew what would happen. Capn Crunch would land on the ground and start beating his wings extremly fast, trying to get them to resonate with the earth. once done it would control the beating to cause the ground itself to shake. Hopefully causing some tremors to damage the little Eevee. I felt the ground below me start shaking and knew it would strike the foe soon.

Ranger Ivy Frost

At Ivy's question, Ty abruptly fell to the ground and closed his eyes, seeming to soak up the sunlight coming into the clearing. The Ranger couldn't help it; she laughed. She supposed she had seen stranger things coming from this guy that this shouldn't surprise her.

He called out for his Vibrava to come closer, and the dragonfly-like Pokémon flapped his multiple wings as he neared. “Let's make this more like home, shall we? Earthquake please.”

The Ranger blinked as she wondered what their 'home' was like before going back to following Cap's movements. The dragonfly flew out into the middle of the makeshift arena, landing on the ground. He started beating his wings rapidly, and they made a humming noise the more they continued. The Eevee pushed off the ground at this point, rushing towards the dragon.

The earth suddenly started shaking in time with Vibrava, and Ivy had to step back and grab onto the nearest tree as she stumbled. The Eevee was jostled as well, and her once straight dash towards her opponent became a staggering zig zag as she tried to get closer. The ground heaved under her feet, and Ivy could see her flinches. Suddenly, she leapt forward with her teeth bared.

Vibrava saw this, and he gave his wings one last powerful beat before launching up into the air. Eevee was already in flight and grabbed onto whatever she could get. Her teeth latched onto part of Vibrava's tail.

The dragonfly wasn't happy, but with a whip of his tail he flicked the Eevee off, sending it to the dirt. The ground shifted again to strike the small fox, the earth jutting up rapidly before the tremors stopped and everything quieted down.

The Eevee staggered back, blinking one eye much more often than the other. She looked expectantly at them, seeming to still be enjoying the battle.

Ivy just waited for Ty to make another move, looking over at him to see if the Earthquake had interrupted his nap time at all.

I let the trimbling earth rock my lazy body to a rather pleasant rest, it was relaxing to feel since where I was from they happened alot. I heard the gentle patter of Eevee's feet as it tried to run towards the epicenter, the soft shoosh of it's leap at Crunch, the hard tunk as it bit into his tail, shortly followed by a light thwap as it was flung off. I don't know what sound was made when it hit the ground, I was fast asleep by then, I imagine it would be a soft plap or qwunk depending on how it lands.

"Zzzzz" I lazily snored while the battle continued through my rest. I have no knowledge of what Capn Crunch did while I slumbered. I knew not of Ivy's confusion as to why I lay there in the grass, loudly yelling about Bruce Cambell and the moonshrimp aristocracy. I am not even sure how long I slept, moments,hours days, for all I know all of eternity could of passed and we just remained unaging for the duration until time itself decided to start over again and let us experience its flow once more. The trigger for this restoration of temporal order was much subtler then one would think for something that restored all of temporality. Not a bang or a bloosh, just a light sunk as Tipsy Fox sunk her teeth into my shoulder.

"Yeow! Why you doing that pup? I ain't dead yet I think." I was a bit confused by Tipsy Foxes sudden assumption that I was made of meat. It's true but I would prefer they don't find that out for quite some time. She tilted her muzzle over towards a different part of the meadow and I followed it's path towards Eevee and Capn Crunch looking rather confused at me. I really need to pay better attention in these battles.

"A'ight, lets see if I can focus on this for more then 12 seconds. We gotta weaken it a bit more Cap, screw with it's mind with a screech then move in and then move in close so you can bite it." Immediatly after Vibrava floated up higher into the air and once more beat his wings rapidly. This time it was to create a audiol frequency rather then resonate with the earth.

SHREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

A terrible piercing shriek shot throughout the whole meadow. I slammed my hands over my ears in an attempt to stop the sound but it didn't help much. Before it even finished it's noise it dashed over to the Eevee, mouth wide open and ready to bite.

Ty didn't get up even after Cap's Earthquake finally subsided. Everything was quiet for a few moments, and Ivy just shook her head as the Trainer continued on napping. Even the two battling Pokémon had stopped what they were doing to look. Haxbat made an anxious sound, but Ivy stopped him before the Crobat could fly over there and do something. She wasn't sure Ty would appreciate a trick pulled on him. Haxbat could get creative.

It turned out that Ty's Ninetales was already on that job though, as the Ranger watched her nose her way over to her Trainer. She hovered above him for a moment and then suddenly clamped down on his arm with her teeth. “Yeow!” he called, but at least it had worked.

He looked around sleepily for a second before following Tipsy Fox's motions towards the battle field. He saw the two battlers looking at him, and they had their own look of confusion. He scratched his head and got up then, giving his next command to his Pokémon.

Vibrava got back into the battle as he did a turn in the air and floated upwards. He began to beat his rhombus-like wings again, only they moved in different arcs and at a different rate. A piercing shriek rang out through the area, and the horrible sound made even the Ranger's toes curl and her eyes snap shut as she flinched. She covered her ears with her hands as she opened her eyes to watch the battle again, and she saw Ty do the same, though he looked about as bothered as she did. With his wilderness-like abilities, she bet that it was louder to him anyway.

Vibrava seemed unaffected by the noise, which was good for him, but the Eevee recoiled a bit, flinching as it backed up. It looked like it was having trouble focusing, and Cap must've saw it too because he lunged in according to his Trainer's wishes. The dragon bared his teeth and flew at the fox while Eevee still struggled to get her bearings back.

The fox shook her head and saw what was coming. Though still disoriented, she made a dash for the tree line with Vibrava darting towards her. She jumped before reaching a large tree on the edge of the grounds, and with a powerful kick she launched herself off of the bark like she had done to the dragon previously.

She sailed back at Cap for a stronger tackle, trying to take him down. They clashed somewhere in between, Cap's teeth sinking into her fur as she smashed into him hard. The ricochet dropped them to the ground in opposite directions, both rolling several feet before stopping.

Cap flew back into the air unsteadily at first, but he seemed to be alright. The Eevee wasn't looking so great, and Ivy thought that the recoil she received from the attack might've been more than she dealt. Still, she got back up, not looking too sour.

“She's getting weaker now, Ty. You could probably try to catch it anytime!” Ivy called to the Trainer.

The two beasts collided mid air and sent each other rolling down opposite sides of the field. it was rather amusing to watch the momentary airborne ballet, Ivy's voice suddenly rang out"She's getting weaker now, Ty. You coud probably try to catch it anytime!" she called out to me. I nodded slightly and reached his hand into his trenchcoat pockets once more. Drawing a second park ball from within it. "Yo Cap best move back from the fight, I'm going to catch our little buddy now."

As I threw the ball at Eevee the whole situation suddenly dawned on me. "IVY!" I shouted taking my eyes away from the ball. "I'm catching an Eevee!" I said while starting a full sprint towards my ranger. "Eevees are adorable!" I hollered while I sprung at Ivy in a full blown pounce. Landing on top of her I remember, "Oh yeah did I catch it" I asked turning back to the ball.
