Ranger Ivy Frost

“Yo Cap, best move back from the fight. I'm going to catch our little buddy now,” Ty called to his Vibrava, reaching into his coat pocket to pull out a Park Ball. The battle had come to a standstill after the crash, and the Eevee looked weaker, so now was probably the perfect time to try and catch her.

With a concentrated through, the Trainer launched the ball at the small fox Pokémon. Then, he seemed to change temperament as he thought of something. “IVY!” he shouted, looking back at the Ranger. “I'm catching an Eevee! Eevee are adorable!”

With that, he flung himself at the Ranger, and she fell down to the ground with an oomph. She had lost count of how many times that was today. Obviously the Trainer was excited, so she wasn't upset. She pushed him off of her to the side as he looked back towards the Eevee and asked, “Oh yeah, did I catch it?”

Ivy sat up just as the ball snapped shut. It fell to the earth with a light thud, and it only spent a couple seconds shaking before going still.

Ivy smiled as she got up, brushing off her red vest and straightening the compass on her neck. She walked over to the quiet ball and picked it up, unzipping one of her vest pockets and dropping the ball in for safe keeping. She turned back to the Trainer.

“Congratulations. That's two already and we're barely far with the trip. I'll hang on to Eevee for now, like your Whismur.”

She stretched and looked around the clearing, trying to find the best way back to the main path. In the mean time, she could let her Trainer take a break in case he wanted to talk to his Pokémon or work out some plans.

Ivy pushed me off of her for the third time today, it was starting to become a regular habit. It turns out I di catch Eevee, I repeat, yay me. I am doing amazing well at this whole park thing. "Congratulations." Ivy said after picking up the little ball, preventing me from batting it around. "That's two already and we're barely far with the trip. I'll hang on to Eevee for now, like your Whisur." I knew it was the rules but I still wanted to play with the balls. Oh well I'll get them when I'm done here.

With a swift bound I lept over towards Cap Crunch and pulled out a little hat to put on him. "You did a good job friend." I said placing it on top of his head, then reaching back into my pocket to grab a sharpie. "I can see," I gently turned him around so his back was towards me, "that you," I started drawing a small fox head on his back, "will be a good member of our little squad." I finished the little mark and gave him a pat on the back. "For now I think you need a rest, Lets get you back in your ball." I pulled out one ball and returned him into it.

I turned towards my Typhlosion next, "Banditos, I think you've Earned a rest too. Come on back in." I said while returning him into his ball as well. "Madame Fox," I said with a bit of a bow, she had a preference for the dramatic, "may I use you as my method of transport while we continue through this magicland in search for both prey and pets." I asked the wise fox politely. She turned her head towards me indignantly and let loose a stream of flames towards me. "Alright then I will take that as a no." I also returned her to her ball and realized there is only one choice left.

"Gurren, come forth." I said releasing the giant stone dinosaur from his capsule. He let out a mighty roar and I leapt onto his back "Alright then my pet. Onwards! To adventure!" I exlcaimed excitedly. For a moment we just stood there in the field without a word. "Um, Ivy," I said breaking the silence, "where are we going anyways?"

Ty looked excited that he had caught another Pokémon so soon. He wasted no time in going over to his Vibrava and praising him, telling him that'd he was going to make a good member of their team. The dragon looked pleased at this, receiving a pat before being returned to his Pokéball. Ivy liked when Trainers took good care of their partners. Some of them really needed to be reassured.

Ty returned his other two Pokémon as well after his Ninetales declined his request for him to use her as a ferry through the forest. Ivy laughed as the fox fired a stream of flames at her Trainer. Ty scratched his head and took out his last Pokéball. His Rhyperior emerged once again, and he wasted no time in jumping up onto his back and yelling excitedly. At least Gurren didn't throw him off like the Typhlosion had.

“Um, Ivy,” she said after a moment, “where are we going anyways?”

The Ranger just shook her head as she reached down to grab her compass. “Well, I'd let that normally be up to you, but I think we should get back to the path first. It shouldn't take that long.”

While seeing what way was north, a fluttering buzzing got her attention. Looking up, a trail of colorful specs came into view, heading northward. They were speckled yellow and grey with tinges of blue and red. After a moment, one of the creatures swooped down into the clearing.

Ivy recognized it as a Beautifly. The blue-eyed butterfly took one look at the both of them and then started bobbing up and down and side to side. The Ranger was cautious but smiled at the Bug Pokémon. Beautifly were sometimes known to get aggressive, and it was showing an interest in them. She figured she might as well give Ty and opportunity to decide what happened.

“This Beautifly seems interested. Do you want to try to capture it or try to get around it?”

"Well I'd let that normally be up to you, but I think we should get back to the path first. It shouldn't take that long." She pulled out a small compas and pointed us in a direction. Before we even started moving though an adorable little butterfly floated down from the trees. I was momentarily mesmorized as the bug swooped around us seeming to inspect us.

"This Beautifly seems interested. Do you want to try to capture it or try to get around it?" I heard Ivy ask. I responded by jumping off of Gurren, wandering over towards Beautifly and reaching into my pocket.I pulled out a little brown pouch and handed it over to the lepidopterine pokemon and smiled. I then bent forward and flipped myself over onto my hands and tried to balance myself on them, and tryed to take a few steps forward in my new inverted position. I only was able to make a couple before falling over and continuing the rest of the way towards the main path with my feet on the ground stead of the air.

Ty just smiled at the Beautifly before backing up and turning down into a handstand. He wobbly walked on his hands in the direction they were going to head to get back to the path. The Pokémon just watched for a moment, and then flew forwards rapidly. It knocked into Ty, sending him sprawling to the ground before flying back and bobbing some more. It looked like it wasn't going to just let them leave.

“Well,” she said, “there's a couple of options here. Since it doesn't look like it wants to leave, we can either try to run while you distract it with a battle, or you can use a Pokédoll.” She stopped to check in her pockets for the collapsible dolls, pulling one out to show him. “I have a few of these with me, and we can run a tab for you to pay when we get back to the Outpost. A doll will be faster and get us out of here faster, but it's your call.”

Ivy gave him his options and waited for his response.

It took me a while to register that Beautifly was not leaving peacefully. I guess it didn't like the offer in the pouch, 3 bottle caps, a mini crunch bar, and a coupon for a free combo with purchase of same combo. If that was not enough to appease it I fear the only way past is to punch through,

"Well theres a couple of options here." Ivy chimed in, "Since it doesn't look like it wants to leave, we can either try to run while you distract it with a battle, or you can use a Pokedoll. I have a few of these with me, and we can run a tab for you to pay when we get back to the Outpost. A doll will be faster aand get us out of here faster, but it's your call." She held out a little plushy thing towards me, it caught my attention and I wandered over and started batting it around.

After a few moments of this nonsense Gurren decided to take the iniative and snap me out of it. He did so by lifting up his tail and slamming it back down causing a small quake to interrupt my fun. I turned back towards the beautifly and decided I have to battle it. I'm keeping the doll to though it's soft and fluffy. "Gurren lets try and get this thing out of our way. Use scary face to intimidate it and then launch out a barrage of rock blasts." Gurren nodded and stared down at Beautifly with a glower letting his eyes shine at the end to show he means business. He then pointed his cannon arms at it and let loose a series of stone volleys from the palms of his hands at it, alternating palms with each blast.

Thoom Thoom Thoom Thoom Thoom

The heavy stones shot out like cannon shells at the small butterfly and would hopefully hit their mark. Knowing that my job as trainer is done for the moment I went back to batting around my new toy.

Ty took the Pokédoll out of the Ranger's hands, seemingly fixed on the pink, fluffy object. He batted it around in his hands, forgetting about everything else.

His Rhyperior watched for a few moments before getting fed up, slamming his tail down onto the ground and making it tremble. Ty stumbled and finally came back down to the clearing. He turned toward the Beautifly and a certain look came over his face, so Ivy knew he was going to battle. He wouldn't let go of the doll though.

The minor earthquake had little effect on anything other than Ty, but the Beautifly took it as a challenge. It narrowed its eyes as air began swirling on the ground in front of it, flattening the grass and kicking up what loose dirt there was.

“Gurren, let's try and get this thing out of our way. Use Scary Face to intimidate it, and then launch out a barrage of Rock Blasts.” The large rock dinosaur nodded and narrowed his own eyes. They shined, and Ivy knew when the two Pokémon had made contact.

The butterfly stilled completely, frozen in that look. The wind below it didn't stop, but it slowed, so whatever force it was compiling wasn't going to be nearly as effective. While the insect struggled to get a hold on itself, Gurren prepared his attack. He pointed his arms at the creature and fired, the stones flying across the field in alternating blasts.

The butterfly got himself out of the daze as the rocks were fired, and in a last ditch effort, he spun tightly in circles, sending his wind towards the Rhyperior. It managed to throw off three of the rocks, but the other two came sailing at it anyway, slamming into it as it tried to stop spinning. It flew back towards the tree line, and the Ranger winced.

Its wind whipped across the field, but due to Gurren's heavy defenses, it didn't do much. Still, the large Pokémon stumbled back a little, so it must have bothered him a little.

The Beautifly gave an oomph of air as it fell to the ground. Ivy knew that the Pokémon's typing was extremely weak to rock, and its defenses weren't the best. Rock was also a second nature to Gurren. She went over to the downed Pokémon just in case, kneeling down next to it.

It seemed to be okay. It was breathing softly, and there were no marks on it. It just looked like it was sleeping really. Since it was in the tree line, it should stay okay until it woke up, so Ivy wasn't that worried. She didn't like to see Pokémon get knocked out, but to Trainers that battled often, that wasn't anything new. It was just different than the Park.

“Well,” she said as she stood up, “it doesn't seem to be too hurt, just knocked out. We're safe to move on now. Just...” she trailed off a little, taking one more look at the Beautifly. “try to be a little careful, okay? We don't want anyone getting hurt unnecessarily.”

She went back to the Trainer, holding out her hand for the doll. He had a sad look, but he handed it over. She returned it to her pocket before heading back through the trees to get to the path. Ty seemed to have a liking to small, cute and fluffy things, but she couldn't really let him use Park property without paying for it, especially since it could be used by accident. Hopefully letting him pick their way once they were back on the path would help cheer him up a little.

They emerged from the trees in short time, the path stretching out in front of them again. Haxbat flew up into the canopy again as Ivy straightened her vest, waiting for the Trainer. She turned to him and asked, “Well, do you want to continue down the darker way or go back and try the other?”

Gurren's blasts were blown away by the wind the butterfly whiped up to try to defend itself with. It managed to knock back 3 of the barrages but the last 2 hit their mark, and they hit it HARD. The two blows knocked the insect back into the foilage. The small bug tried to whip up a wind to stup us from attacking it but gurren only gave smallest of notice to the wind. Ivy seemed to be rather concerned about the flying bug and ran over to make sure it was ok. I slighlty tilted my head at this, Pokemon are knocked out quite often. It's not always plesant but somethings need to be done y'know?

"Well, it doesn't seem to be too hurt, just knocked out. We're safe to move on now. Just... try to be a little careful okay?" She turned her head back towards where the beautifly landed. "We don't want anyone getting hurt unnecessarily." She sauntered back over to me and motioned for the plushie back. I reluctantly handed it over to her and she went back towards the path. "Well, do you want to continue down the darker way or go back and try the other?" I pondered on this for a while, she seems to really want to go down the lighter path. I guess I'll humor her and head that way. 'Sides if she's happier in the light maybe she won't notice her pockets are a little emptier.

"Lets try the light side this time maybe some fun times will occur over yonder."

“Let's try the light side this time. Maybe some fun times will occur over yonder.”

Ivy nodded and then started back towards the other path with her Trainer in tow. She didn't really care what path they took. They had a backtrack a little, but that was okay. If he found another Pokémon he wanted to catch soon and wanted to leave early, they'd be closer to the exit. So far they had been lucky in finding Pokémon he wanted. Hopefully they would find another one soon.

They passed the split in the road and went down the lighter path. They must've had some high winds or heavy rain recently, because the path was littered with leaves and branches the further on they went. Some where in huge piles of green, red, and gold.

Suddenly, a pile twitched as she passed it, and then there was a nasty hissing sound. She jumped back on reflex when the snake struck out, its sharp, red fangs super close to sinking into her leg. Haxbat swooped in to deflect it, screeching viciously. He knocked the snake on the head, causing it to be stunned for a second. Then the Crobat kicked up wind with his many wings, sending the snake sliding back across the ground and brushing the leaves and some of the twigs off the path.

The snake eyed them warily from where it stopped at the edge of the path. It looked ready to fight if needed, but it also looked like it would let them pass if they let it be. They may have just gotten too close before.

“That Seviper looks like it would fight if you wanted to catch it. Any snakes on your to-catch list?”
