    Ranger: Arunei Shade
    NBP #1

The white-haired Ranger glanced at the clock sitting on her desk as she finished up a bit of paperwork and found it was fourteen minutes till eight in the morning. It was an early start to the day, to say the least. Arunei didn’t mind; unlike a lot of the other Rangers, she liked the mornings at the Park. She was due at the path to The Woods at eight to take the first Ranger of the day on his run. He’d just finished a run not long ago, having been taken by Trainer during the expedition to the Gardens. Apparently the Trainer had been hunting for a Castform, but hadn’t had any luck in running into one. He hadn’t left empty-handed, though, having at least captured himself a Minccino before leaving.

Once she placed the paperwork in the outgoing bin on her desk, Arunei stood and took a moment to stretch before grabbing her gray coat off the back of her chair and exiting the office. She was currently at the Outpost of Mt. Oktori, thus the heavy coat which she now shrugged on before heading outside. The cold wind buffeted her the moment she stepped foot out of the Outpost, but she ignored the biting chill and headed towards a smaller building a few yards away. It was a specially-altered warp area that was more stable than the areas that had been discovered upon the island first being found. It emulated Teleportation as executed by a Psychic Pokemon, which was more natural and had fewer negative side-effects on people than the other warp areas.

This particular area had controls that could be set to take a person or group to any of the Outposts, so one Arunei was inside the small brick building, she fiddled with the control panel for a moment to set her destination. Within a minute she was standing in a similar building near the Outpost for The Woods. Quickly running inside the Outpost proper to drop off her coat, Arunei then pulled a PokeBall from her pocket once she was back outside. From inside the sphere she released Ravager, a Hydreigon that actually belonged to Trainer but with whom Arunei had struck an off friendship. The large, three-headed beast appeared in a burst of white light, rumbling deep in his chest as a greeting when he spotted Arunei. She motioned for him to follow as she headed off for the wide dirt path leading to The Woods in the near distance.

“We’re taking some Trainer named Ataro through The Woods today. We’ve got a few minutes to kill before he’s supposed to get here, so we must as well take our time and enjoy the scenery.” Ravager nodded, appreciating the fact that it was warm and slightly balmy here at The Woods, compared to the freezing surroundings and weather back at Oktori.

"We are gonna try this again!" I exclaimed, and both of the Pokemon that were standing beside me nodded excitedly. We were right outside of the entrance of The Woods now. The National Park had felt extremely familiar to me recently since I've just been out of the Botanic Gardens like a few days ago. Though I didn't manage to meet till Castform, I had managed to rake in some cash with the pictures of rare Pokemon and had managed to capture a Minccino as well.

This time was different however. I decided to try out another area, and I am fully prepared this time. I had spent a sum purchasing Voice Disks, just so I can make full use of them this time, unlike the previous experience. I couldn't help but appreciate the good air in the atmosphere. As much as I hate waking up in the morning, I had actually loved going out in the morning instead. The morning air is always fresh and they smell of something unidentified that simply freshens and brightens my mood. I think it's morning dew, and it had something to do with the release of carbon dioxide and whatnot. That doesn't matter though, what matters is the good weather that's present today.

I entered happily with both Ambipom by my side. One of them was male, and the other one was female, and was a shiny variant. Excited they were, they couldn't help but keep looking around the Park with their eyes open wide, since this was their first time together in the Park with each other after all. We didn't take a very long walk before I spotted a white-haired girl standing near the entrance of The Woods. As it was still early and there was no one else around, I naturally assumed that she was my ranger and quickly walked up to her. There was a large three-headed Hydreigon beside her, and I knew for a fact these Pokemon were pretty violent and could be destructive if not trained properly. This one looks fine though.

"Hi! I'm Ataro. Nice to meet you!" I greeted my ranger, and promptly took out the Pokeplayer to insert a Farfetch'd Voice Disk inside it, before pressing the 'Play' button. We had needed to maximize our chances, and there was no time to waste.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Ivy was turned around in her rolling desk chair filing away some papers in the cabinet when her computer dinged, indicating that she had a message. She rolled back to her desk with a push of her heels and saw that a note had popped up, from one of the other Rangers. Haji, her Espeon, lifted his head from his prone position on the couch on the other wall of the small office.

The note was from Arunei, a white-haired woman that was good friends with Trainer. Ivy checked the clock in the corner of the screen and saw that it was recent. She had just taken a Trainer into the Woods, but something had came up and she had to go. It was pretty early; Ivy had almost forgotten that she had spent the night here again.

“Okay, can do that,” she said, mostly to herself, replying positive to the message. “Ready to go, Haji?” she asked.

“Indeed,” he replied, stretching like a cat before he jumped off the couch and sat next to her. She nodded and crouched down next to him, and then her surroundings disappeared for a second as they transported into nothing.

The sensation of teleporting had always freaked her out at first, but now she was mostly used to it. The cheery morning sounds of the forest greeted them as she and the Espeon landed next to the entrance to the Woods. They headed down the path in search of her Trainer and they didn't have to go far.

She saw Arunei first, easily spotting her white hair through the rows of trees as they turned around the bend. Then, she saw two Ambipom, not unlike her own that was in his Pokeball. One was a shiny color, however, and the pink was a sharp contrast to the purple one. She approached the group just to see the Trainer push the button on his voice player. The sound of a Farfetch'd cried out.

“Hey, there, Arunei,” Ivy greeted. “I'm here to relieve you on request. Hi, I'm Ivy Frost,” she said next, turning to offer the Trainer her hand. “You must be Ataro.”

Before they could proceed, a humming sound caught the Ranger's attention. It was a constant, steady noise, and it got louder as something neared. A decently-sized insect came around one of the trees then, fluttering its wings sharply. The dragonfly Pokemon looked at them curiously as it stopped and hovered in front of them.

“Well, that's not a Farfetch'd, but are you interested in a Yanma?” she asked.

“Hey, there, Arunei,” a young woman greeted. “I'm here to relieve you on request. Hi, I'm Ivy Frost,” she said next, turning to offer me a handshake. “You must be Ataro.”

I proceeded to shake her hand awkwardly. It was surprising to see another ranger take over my current ranger's duty so quickly after all. I didn't blame Arunei however, she probably had important things on and it was completely alright. I greeted Ivy Frost back politely. Soon, a buzzing sound had interrupted us and I turned back to catch sight of a fluttering Yanma.

“Well, that's not a Farfetch'd, but are you interested in a Yanma?” she asked.

This dragonfly Pokemon was once highly popular and sought after, for it had evolved into the niche Yanmega. A Pokemon that once had sole specialty to the ability - Speed Boost - which was why it became so popular. With the advent of new research recently, where researchers have discovered the technique of Pokemon learning new abilities via sleep energy, a couple more Pokemon have also gotten Speed Boost! Among those, was Blaziken, which immediately turned Blaziken into the new Yanmega, except even much more popular. It was basically the dream Pokemon for most trainers.

I was a pity though. If it was back then, I would have definitely try and capture this Yanma. It would make for a good trade bait. Though, I can only bring out three captured Pokemon and I was looking for specific Normal-types. Therefore, I was not going to have space in my team for Yanma.

"Nah, I think I will pass on that," I said with a shrug. Meanwhile, I quickly grabbed one of the PokeDoll from my bag and hold it in my hands, just in case the Yanma would not leave us alone.

“Nah, I think I will pass on that,” the dark-haired Traiiner said. He then dug into his bag, seemingly looking for something. She caught the light pink color of the standard Park Pokedoll before the Yanma made a noise and then buzzed off into the trees once again, leaving them in peace.

“I guess it didn't want to battle after all,” Ivy said, shrugging. “Let's see what else the Woods has today.”

Ataro's voice disk rang out again, but nothing came to them, even when she waited a few extra moments. She led them down the path more, taking twists and turns that she remembered vividly from all the time she spent here. Eventually, they came to a small clearing on the side of the road that housed a small pool of water. A splashing noise drew her attention.

A small, blue spider-like Pokemon was gliding around on the water's surface, causing the edges of the pond to lap at the sides and wash out onto the path. It had a yellow top on it that sort of looked like a hat. It stopped skating around as they neared, and it looked up at them with small beady eyes.

“Are you looking for a Surskit by chance?” she asked.

“I guess it didn't want to battle after all,” Ivy said, shrugging. “Let's see what else the Woods has today.”

The Yanma quickly flew away after that. The sound of Farfetch'd's cry continued to resonate from my Pokeplayer, but nothing seemed to be responding to the Voice Disk. After a while, Ivy decided to lead me into a clearing with multiple twists and turns. It was probably easy to lose your way here, but it seemed like my ranger was pretty familiar with The Woods.

A splashing sound caught our attention as I turned to the side. There was a small pool of water and a Surskit was gliding by the edge, splashing puddles of water everywhere. I immediately thought if I would make this capture. Masquerain was a pretty cool and niche Pokemon, and I would definitely try and capture a Surskit if I wasn't looking for anything in particular.

“Are you looking for a Surskit by chance?” Ivy asked, interrupting my thoughts.

Thinking back, I was indeed looking for something ... three Pokemon in particular. I shook my head to express my disinterest and prepared another Pokedoll. I was not going to let a Surskit take up too much of my time.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Ataro shook his head, making his red cap blur against the green background of the forest. Ivy started to lead them away, but the Surskit made a displeased noise. She looked back to see that the little blue insect had slid up to the edge of the water and was looking at them with big eyes. It made small sounds like a child would when they were about to cry.

Ivy grimaced. “I think he's gonna put up a fuss if we leave. Why don't you try using that doll you have so we can get by in peace.”

Ataro set down the doll, and the Surskit immediately cooed and wandered over to it, dragging the pink Clefairy-shaped toy back into the water with it. Unfortunately for the insect, the doll became heavy with water and started to sink, causing the bug to freak out a little. She left it to trying to retrieve the doll as they continued.

After a while, all the trees started to look the same. That's what tended to happen in the Woods if you stayed on the path. With Haji walking comfortably beside her, she felt safe enough to stop and head toward the edge of the walkway. She peered into the haziness of the woods beyond, where the trees were closer together and not so patterned. There would be a ton of underbrush and other foliage.

“What do you say we take the scenic route?” She didn't wait for his answer as she stepped into the brush, twigs and leaves crunching underfoot. His white T-shirt said “Don't Hurt Park Property,” and since he was a regular, she figured he could handle anything they came across. His voice disk called out one more time before her ears were filled with her vest brushing past trees and the snaps of her feet as she carried on.

Eventually they came to a place where the trees started to become fewer – that was, the upright trees at least. Instead they were in a sea of thick, bright green grasses. Scattered through the place were fallen trees. Some of them were as thin as her arm, but others were easily the width of she and Haji both, with large hollows where other Pokemon could be hiding.

She stopped at a good vantage point, near a larger rock, and scanned the vegetation carefully. It was pretty high in some places, and something could easily be hiding. Then, she saw something strange.

A forked blade of grass was moving by itself, bobbing up and down as it traveled across the clearing. Ivy waited for it to reach a bald spot where the grass had been flatted down. A Pokemon popped out with a stumble, maybe expecting the path to be harder to walk through.

A startled quack sounded, and the Ranger got a good look at the creature. It was a brown and cream duck, and it appeared to be holding a leek. She turned to smile at Ataro.

“Looks like it's your lucky day. You were looking for a Farfetch'd right?”

The Surskit would not budge however. There were many times like these where a Pokemon just would not leave you alone and you had to use your Pokedoll to distract them, just so you can avoid a battle with them.

“I think he's gonna put up a fuss if we leave. Why don't you try using that doll you have so we can get by in peace.” Ivy frowned.

I set down the doll and the Surskit immediately went over and dragged the Pokedoll into the water. The Pokedoll was apparently heavy though, and had higher density than water. The doll sunk into the water and the Surskit started to freak out a little. Luckily, Ivy was already bringing me out of here. I really didn't want to waste two Pokedolls on a Surskit.

We had traveled for a good while, where all the trees were starting to look repetitive. Ivy suggested to take a scenic route, and didn't really wait for my answer before she set foot on the route with many twigs and branches on the ground. I did not mind though. The voice disk sounded one more time now, and it echoed through the canopies of trees here. Eventually, we arrived at a place where trees started to become less common. It was more of a field actually, flooded with thick emerald-green grass. There were many fallen trees and logs around the area as well.

Ivy took a step ahead and walked up to a larger rock, seemingly scanning the vegetation meticulously. I waited for her to say something when her expression changed. I figured that she had spotted a Pokemon and rushed up to her to look in the same direction. True enough, the patch of grass right ahead was rustling and bobbing violently. A Pokemon then popped out from within and Ivy smiled at me.

"Oh yeah! Farfetch'd has appeared," I exclaimed happily. I was starting to get a little worried that this run might end up like our previous where we did not get a chance to meet the Pokemon we wanted. This Pokemon had resembled the cartoon ducks you see on television. His body was mostly brown but it had a bright yellow beaks and webbed feet. He screeched at us while holding up its leek defensively, as if he was afraid I would hurt him.

“Looks like it's your lucky day. You were looking for a Farfetch'd right?” Ivy remarked.

"Yep. Alright Fataro, this is yours," I said, giving my attention to the pink female Ambipom on the right. She giggled a bit while Ataro the Ambipom frowned before stepping forward.

I thought a while about our choices of attack. Unlike Ataro the Ambipom, Fataro did not have Technician to boost her attacks, and relied on Pickup for the added opportunity to pick up items in the Park instead. Though, she still knew a good amount of moves. Farfetch'd was a Normal- and Flying-type, thus Electric-, Ice-, and Rock-types would be super effective moves against him. We had needed to inflict him with a status condition first though.

"Alright Fataro, go in for a Fake Out, and charge up your tails with static electricity at the same time. Right after Fake Out when Farfetch'd is flinched temporarily, smack it immediately with a Thunder Wave using the static with your tails."

Fake Out was a priority move and it often allowed the user to strike first with a preemptive attack, flinching the opponent and rendering the foe incapable of movement or reaction for a short period of time. It was really a no brainer for me to use this move all the time. Though, Farfetch'd had access to the abilities - Keen Eye and Inner Focus. The latter was able to prevent flinching and thus Fake Out may not be very effective this time. I would have to let it slide though, for I really wanted Fataro to get up close to Farfetch'd in a short time. Fake Out was a secondary attack, Thunder Wave was the primary move. By making us of the static electricity present in everyone's body, it makes it easier and faster to charge up Thunder Wave. Ambipom was an expert in using her two tails in combat, and by making her use Thunder Wave from her tails, it makes it easier for her to multitask both attacks. Regardless, she was pretty skilled in complex combination and this attack command was simply a moderate skill level.

Meanwhile, Fataro had nodded and dashed towards the Farfetch'd with blinding speed. When she had crossed half of the field within a few seconds, she had already disappeared with the speed that she had possessed temporarily. She would soon appear right in front or beside of Farfetch'd and pummel it with both of her arms, and hopefully flinch the wits out of the Pokemon. Regardless of whether she had managed to flinch or not, she would immediately follow up with a Thunder Wave on the surprised foe, inflicting it with a paralysis condition. This would not only help make the battle easier by lowering Farfetch'd speed drastically, but also allow for an easier capture later on.

“Oh yeah! Farfetch'd as appeared,” Ataro called out.

Ivy smiled at his enthusiasm. She liked when Trainers found Pokemon that interested them. She had been on too many runs when Trainers had left disappointed. She wanted to avoid that whenever possible because too many bad times would probably deter Trainers from returning, and they needed the activity. Besides, she needed the money.

“Alright, Fataro, this is yours,” he said next, directing the comment to the vivid pink Ambipom beside him. Was it just her, or was that a play on the Trainer's name? That would've got confusing for her in battle if one of her Pokemon were named almost the same thing.

The normal-colored Ambipom didn't look too pleased that the other got called into battle, but the pink one just giggled. Her hand-tipped tails swished playfully. She was ready to fight.

“Alright, Fataro, go in for a Fake Out and charge your tails with static electricity at the same time. Right after Fake Out when Farfetch'd is flinched temporarily, smack it immediately with a Thunder Wave using your tails,” he instructed.

Fataro nodded, and the shiny Ambipom sped off. Ivy could hear tiny sparks coming from her, signs of her Thunder Wave starting up. As she rushed up to the duck Pokemon, it let out a squak of surprise, either not knowing she could move that fast or that there was going to be a battle.

Regardless of its reason, it clearly wasn't prepared for the monkey. With a swift strike, her two hand-tails swung out and slapped together, one on either side of the bird. It squawked again as it was hit, and then it stumbled backwards.

Ivy heard the crackling of the electricity. Yellow sparks shined over the Farfetch'd, flicking between its feathers and around its limbs. The electric current would definitely make it hard for the duck to move and slow it down. There was also the chance of the wild Pokemon finding it too hard to move at all.

Unfortunately for Fataro, that didn't happen right off the top. Feeling trapped, the Farfetch'd gathered up what energy it could and went into a spin, tucking its leek as it did. Then, it jumped, and using its momentum, it did an acrobatic act to flip over the monkey, hitting her with its wings and legs. It swung out with its leek too, giving her one more bop on the head before it landed and scampered off into the grass.

Ivy heard the echoing sounds of steps on hollow wood and knew that the bird had gone into hiding in the trees. “Looks like this one wants to play hide and seek,” she said. “I think I heard it in one of those trees, but it could really be anywhere now. At least you managed to slow it down some.”

    OOC: Male please.

As Fataro reappeared within sight, the Farfetch'd let out a squawk of astonishment. It was a little funny to hear that sound and Farfetch'd's expression, but it was definitely not funny for Farfetch'd. Fataro delivered the Fake Out quickly, and the Farfetch'd squawked again, before tumbling over. She was too fast though, I didn't even manage to observe the strike of her tails to perform the Thunder Wave, but simply heard the cackle of a series of weak jolt of electricity in the air.

And Farfetch'd squawked yet again, this time struggling with the crying sounds he was making. He probably felt desperate, for he got back up weakly but propeled himself up for a series of flips and jumps, before landing a series of hits and slaps. I had recognized it as an Acrobatics attack. Just as I thought that he was finally done, he landed a final strike on Fataro's head with the leek that he was holding. I could tell that Fataro was taken aback by the sudden countrrattack, but it was good that she still looked pretty healthy.

My female Ambipom was not liking those strikes though. It had probably felt like Farfetch'd was trying to embarrass her. Being a Sassy-natured Pokemon, she naturally had high confidence. She loved to strut and show off her attack combinations like she was performing in a Contest Battle, and getting humiliated was definitely not her cup of tea. As she looked up after recovering from the attack, both Fataro and I had noticed that Farfetch'd was scurrying off back to the grass. I started to panick a little as the wild Pokemon was running away, but the echos of Farfetch'd's cry continued to reverberate from the treetops.

“Looks like this one wants to play hide and seek,” Ivy said. “I think I heard it in one of those trees, but it could really be anywhere now. At least you managed to slow it down some.”

I breathed a sign of relief as Ivy double-confirmed my suspicions. Still, the Farfetch'd was playing hard to get and it was definitely annoying. I needed to think of ways to get the Farfetch'd to get back down and face us directly. I could probably use Cut but that seemed like it would take a whole lot of effort for Fataro to chop down all the trees. ... Oh wait!

"Ok Fataro, I know you're pretty annoyed but we're gonna have to bring that Farfetch'd back down. I want you to seduce it with Attract," I said and was immediately interrupted by my Pokemon. She cried out her name quickly in disgust. She certainly did not want anything to do with that[/] Pokemon. As if looking for help, she turned to look at Ataro the Ambipom desperately, to which Ataro responded by simply giggling hysterically.

"C'mon Fataro, we need to use that," I pleaded. Fataro sighed and nodded. I felt a little bad but it was kind of funny in a way. Heh. "Alright, you're gonna have to not only focus on getting the attractive heart-shaped energy out, but you're gonna have to pose seductively as well. I'm not sure if the range is enough, so we need to get Farfetch'd's attention by acting demure. Got it?"

She looked at me and rolled her eyes sarcastically. Heh. I couldn't help but giggle along with Ataro the Ambipom. "Oh and right after you're done with Attract, use Taunt on it immediately. I want you to make him in love and angry at the same time. At least you can take revenge while using Taunt," I said with a grin, to which she simply ignored me.

She was preparing for the Attract however. Fataro has started to lie down on the floor with her two legs laid in a way that resembled a mermaid. She started to act as if she was in pain and hurting, while releasing numerous pink heart-shaped objects from her tail. These hearts are similar to a sort of potion or magic, since it had the ability to infatuate your foe with the Attract condition. It had only worked with opposite genders though.

Meanwhile, I watched on whilst hoping that Farfetch'd would respond to the seemingly demure and hurt female Ambipom that needed help, as well as the attractive powers of the pink heart-shaped energy.

@Ataro; Sorry I didn't get to this earlier. Had class and work back to back for two days.

    BP#2

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Ataro looked a little disheartened until she mentioned she could still hear the Pokemon. She supposed she'd be pretty upset if the Pokemon she had been searching for had suddenly disappeared too. Thankfully, the bird was just trying to be stealthy. Some smart moves would get him to come out of his hiding place.

“Okay, Fataro,” the Trainer said, addressing his shiny Ambipom. “I know you're pretty annoyed but we're gonna have to bring that Farfetch'd back out. I want you to seduce it with Attract-” he started, only to be cut off.

The pink money instantly made a disgusted face and screeched along with it, clearly showing her thoughts about that plan. Ivy supposed that she had some grounds for it, since the bird had hit her on the head almost in jest. If she was seriously battling, that probably would've upset her too. It would've upset Vergil, her Gallade, for sure—only he would've lashed out immediately. To add to the theatrics, Ataro's other Ambipom started to giggle at her too.

The Trainer wasn't giving in to her, though. “C'mon,” he pleaded. “We need to use that.”

A more stubborn Pokemon would've refused, but Ivy could tell that Ataro had a deeper connection with his Pokemon. Fataro eventually sighed and nodded, resigned to her fate. She didn't submit completely, however, as she just rolled her eyes at her Trainer as she got ready for the move. Even his promise if getting revenge on the Farfetch'd with a Taunt didn't completely appease her.

Attract was pretty interesting. The Ranger had only seen it used a handful of times, and every Pokemon used it differently. Fataro was starting to put on quite an act too, which made sense, since she seemed the type to fit in with the Contest crowed. They were really dramatic when battling because that was part of their code.

The Ambipom laid down, but instead of the suave look Ivy thought she would've adorned, she looked like she was in pain. It look her a minute, but the Ranger realized that they were trying to coax the bird to come out and help the supposedly hurt monkey. At the same time, her two tails were in motion, and as they waved, a strange, pink heart-shaped energy came off of them. They looked exactly like those cartoon hearts on Valentine's candy.

At first, Ivy didn't know if it was going to work. The Farfetch'd might not have been paying attention or was too busy plotting something of his own. However, after a minute or two, she heard a curious quack. The brown and cream-colored duck poked his head out of the end of one of the fallen logs, looking around with wide eyes. He finally caught sight of the Ambipom, and in response, he came scurrying to the edge of the grasses to get a better look.

He seemed to be in a daze as those pink hearts floated toward him, bobbing back and forth rhythmically as three of them circled around his head. Then, they popped and disappeared. Ivy wasn't really sure what was supposed to happen next.

Like a switch, Fataro changed her attitude once the Attract had activated. She snapped to her feet and immediately stuck her tongue out at the duck and gave him the stink-eye, trying to make him angry. At least, that's what the Trainer's plan was.

It worked. The duck, who had previously looked a bit enamored, now lowered his eyes in a glare, and he screeched an angry rage that echoed through the grasses and bounced off the sparse tree trunks in the clearing. Taunt was generally used to provoke attacking moves only, and generally a lot of Pokemon went into a sort of rage alongside it. It made them more reckless. The Ranger wondered what sort of effect of having both Taunt and Attract would make.

The duck rushed forward, holding his leek out like he was brandishing a sword. At first, Ivy thought he was going to barrel right into the monkey, who hadn't been instructed to do anything after the Taunt. She looked a little bit surprised as well, as if she didn't expect him to attack her right away.

Before they would've collided, however, the Farfetch'd planted his feet and did another aerial spin, this time kicking her solidly in the stomach with his feet. Fataro grunted as she was hit, but it didn't look like the duck hit her too hard. He used her as a launch pad and flapped his wings as he tried to rise to get away. Ivy heard crackles, though, and a close look revealed that there were electrical sparks between the wings of his feathers again. The Thunder Wave was kicking in again.

The Farfetch'd let out a squawk when he realized he was losing altitude, and then a gust of wind circled around the pair of Pokemon. It spun rapidly just at ground level, and then it burst upward in a draft, giving the duck enough height to get his wings working again. This time, he landed up on top of one of the lone trees in the area, high up and out of reach.

The strange part was that Fataro didn't look too injured. In fact, Ivy didn't think that the Gust attack had touched her at all. It looked like the wind had gone perfectly around her. Was that maybe from the Attract? Was Farfetch'd more hesitant and yet wanting to attack at the same time? She didn't envy his predicament. Either way, it looked like Ataro had a good start for this battle. Now he just had to figure out how to get the duck down.

    OOC: It's okay!

Luckily, the Attract seemed to have worked. The Farfetch'd was scurrying back to where Fataro was, and instantly got surrounded by the Attract. The infatuation took over his body and he quickly became in love with Fataro. With a quick switch of attitude however, Fataro started to stick her tongue out at the duck and making funny faces and derogatory remarks at the Farfetch'd. It obviously worked.

Farfetch'd was not pleased at more, and started screeching in an angry rage. It was a bit weird for a Pokemon to be in love and angry at the same time, but I assume it might confuse the Pokemon targeted even more. Fataro's expertise was using moves like Attract, so it would definitely be effective to an extent.

The duck rushed forward now, and held his leek as if it was a sword. I couldn't help but rolled my eyes. Farfetch'd, seriously ...? Fataro was taken aback by the quick counterattack, and took a quick hit. The attack did not seemed to have done much damage, but the moment Farfetch'd had made contact, he instantly flew in the opposite direction. The attack had looked like a U-turn, but I was not completely sure. On his way back those, crackles of electricity sounded and the electrical sparks surrounded Farfetch'd's wings again. The paralysis status that was inflicted on him was starting to take effect again.

He squawked and started flapping his wings rapidly. Soon, a gust of wind circled around them both, before bursting upwards. The Farfetch'd was again out of reach as the Gust brought him high up into one of the lone trees. Fataro did not look too injured from the Gust, but targeting Farfetch'd was going to take some strategy again.

    Wait...

Instead of relying on chances, I could manipulate it. Ambipom had learned a variety of moves and among them, was Aerial Ace and Swift. Both of these moves had the ability to strike the target hundred percent of the time usually. Aerial Ace was a physical attack however, while Swift was a ranged attack. I decided to start off with Swift first, and combine it with an electrical attack for some super effective damage.

"Okay Fataro, I want you to release a burst of Swift around you, targeting the trees in a circular formation. That's not all however, let's pump up the damage by charging up the shuriken stars with a Thunderbolt at the same time. Electrocute every single one of them."

Swift was notable for never missing its target, but I was seriously not sure what would happen if Fataro could not see her target clearly. This was why I decided to just call for a burst of Swift in a circular formation. It should surely get damaged, I guess. If the attack made contact, it would deal a considerable amount of damage due to the Swift being charged up by electricity as well, which should ease up the capture.

@Ataro; These next posts should come faster cos I'm off until early Monday morning.

    BP#3

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Ivy kept her eyes peered at the tops of the trees, but she couldn't quite see where the bird went. She knew he was still around, though, cos occasionally she could hear the crackle of electricity or a quiet quack he'd make. Haji probably knew where he was because he could sense energy, and Ivy could've cheated and asked him to help point the bird out, but it was more fun trying to use her own senses. It gave her a type of training too.

All of this ducking and hiding was probably aggravating Ataro to an extent, and she wouldn't blame him if it was. It was testing him at least, forcing him to be creative to capture this Pokemon. A lot of wild ones did that, since they understood that Trainers frequently came and tried to catch them. They had to test them first.

The Trainer thought for a moment, but eventually he came up with a plan. “Okay, Fataro, I want you to release a burst of Swift around you,” he began, detailing how he wanted his Pokemon to perform the move. Since the pink Ambipom likely couldn't see her target either, she would have to rely on either a lucky hit or that the very-accurate Swift technique guided itself to the right place.

It wasn't a bad idea, but it got a lot better when Ataro said to charge all of the star-objects of the attack with a Thunderbolt. Not only would that be really effective on the bird, it would also likely make his paralysis act up, since the voltage would synch up.

The monkey nodded and moved her tails back and forth. Again that static electricity formed between them, only this time the cracks and sparks were more pronounced. Ivy could hear them clearly, and flashes of light shined off the blades of grass. She focused for a few instances, and then she let the attack go.

At first, the star-shaped energy flew in a straight line, one object after another. Then, it circled out into formation, making a ring of crackling energy. Up into the trees it flew, and Ivy hoped that it would find its mark. There weren't too many trees, and the initial angle had been alright, so there was high hopes that the bird couldn't avoid the attack for long.

It turned out that she was right. A large squall sounded, echoing high above them in the sparse canopy. It was coming from one of the trees that was farthest away from them. A sizzling sound was heard first, and then there was a massive crack. Ivy watched as several smaller branches that had been at the top of the tree fell down to the ground, probably hit with the force of the Thunderbolts.

Then, a dark shadow was seen darting toward them. Or rather, it was darting toward Fataro. It took Ivy a moment to make out the shape of the Farfetch'd as it sped. With a whoosh of air, he swooped down to the monkey. Spinning in midair to gain momentum, he brought one wing and leek down in a karate-chop fashion to strike her. It sort of looked like an Aerial Ace attack.

The bird didn't have too great a landing, however, as when he plopped down onto the ground, he had unsteady footing. He tried to rapidly turn, but Ivy heard that crackle of electricity again. Then, the temperature drastically increased all at once. She had only a second to consider what it was because with a sideways swing of the Farfetch'd's wing, a wall of flame rolled across the field.

The Ranger put her arms up to shield her face from the heat, though she could still see the battle. As the bird swung, he tripped, and at the same time, she saw the wall of flame veer sharply. A hint of it only grazed Fataro's arm. Ivy wasn't sure if that happened because of the trip or because the bird was still hesitant to hurt her. Either way, that fire in such a wooded place was dangerous.

“Hey, watch out for the scenery,” she told the bird, even though she was pretty sure he wasn't going to listen. Still, she'd have to be more attentive if he tried that fire technique again. She didn't want anything to burn.

Farfetch'd was panting a lot now. Clearly the other attacks had stolen a large chunk of his energy. He tried to stand straight, but he ended up slouching a little. One eye was partially closed, and his leek was dipping toward the ground instead of its usual upright position. He looked pretty tired. If Ataro kept this up, he should be able to capture the duck in no time.

The Swift was fired around Ambipom and instantly charged up with crackling electricity. They soon flew in a straight line though, seemingly formed into a single direction. I realized that the attack most probably had locked on to its target and I was right. A loud squawk was soon heard somewhere in the canopy above, and several branches had fell down to the ground as well. The strength of that attack was definitely amazing.

I didn't had enough time to react however. A dark shadow materialized suddenly and was flying at top speed towards Fataro. The Farfetch'd landed one of his wing and leek down, like the way Fighting-type Pokemon slammed their fists onto table, to strike my Pokemon. Going by the speed of the attack, it most probably had to be an Aerial Ace attack, which was what I contemplated having Fataro to use it earlier.

The series of built-up support attacks that Fataro has been inflicting was helping us so much however. The Farfetch'd wasn't able to achieve a smooth landing due to the paralysis and it was affecting his movements. Within a split second though, a wall of flame blasted across the field with a swing of Farfetch'd's arm, grazing Fataro's arm at the same time. The Heat Wave did not seem to cause as much damage as expected however, it could be due to several reasons like the sudden trip, and the infatuation caused earlier. I was a bit surprised to see Farfetch'd use Heat Wave too, since the move was a special one that not all regular Farfetch'd usually knew. I considered Fataro and myself lucky still. If that Heat Wave had inflicted Fataro with a burn condition, it would have been quite bad for us.

“Hey, watch out for the scenery,” Ivy told the bird.

Though, I was pretty confident that Farfetch'd wasn't going to listen... That wild Pokemon was pretty feisty, and he didn't look like he was going to bother about these sort of problems that weren't exactly his problems. If a tree catches on fire though, I would probably be able to douse it quickly before anything huge happens. That would probably score brownie points for me anyway. Both of my Ambipom knew Water-based attacks, and Ataro even knew how to use Rain Dance, so the catching-fire-part wasn't really a big issue.

I refocused my attention back at the Pokemon I was attempting to capture, and noticed that he was starting to pant for air now. He was obviously getting exhausted and a capture wouldn't be too far from now. Still, I really wanted to get him to a minimum before I attempt a capture, and it looks like he can still take some hits.

"Fataro, let's show Farfetch'd what a real Aerial Ace and Fire-type attack looks like. Perform your Aerial Ace like we have always practiced. Upon reaching your target, fire up your fist and strike it with a Fire Punch at the same time when Aerial Ace strikes it. Do watch out though, we really don't want to knock it out," I reminded her.

I didn't really felt like using any other moves at this point, which was why I called for a repetition of what Farfetch'd had used. Although Fataro was not a Flying-type, she was equally capable of using Aerial Ace. This was mainly thanks to the weeks of training we had spent perfecting Aerial Ace. In doing that, we had to keep observing numerous trainers and their Flying-type Pokemon, and practice the move at the same time.

Our variant was basically having Fataro to propel herself up into the air by using her two tails. While doing that, her tails would flash with a burst of energy and she basically had the ability to fly through the air temporarily. During this, she would be surrounded by a white aura of energy and speed. However, just as she is about to reach her opponent, she would actually seemingly disappear, but it is actually just depth perception issue. She would then appear right before her foe and slam into it. Calling on another move on top of the Aerial Ace would prove to be a bit more challenging, but I'm confident that Fataro would be able to pull it through. She had particularly loved dazzling people with the beauty of her moves and techniques.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Ataro knew exactly what to do this time. His previous plan had worked out pretty well, and now the Farfetch'd was being tired out at a rapid rate once they had started dishing out damage. It wouldn't be long now until the battle was over.

“Fataro, let's show Farfetch'd what a real Aerial Ace and Fire-type attack looks like,” the Trainer said.

That was a pretty tall order to fill considering that Aerial Ace matched the bird's type. Then again, the duck had sort of offended the pink Ambipom, and since she was pretty sassy, she would want to out do him. The mirror image promised to be interesting.

He told Fataro to perform the aerial attack in their usual way, but Ivy didn't know what that was. Since she seemed like a contest-y Pokemon, it was probably going to be interesting and stylized. He then wanted her to use a Fire Punch as she landed, sort of a one-two combo.

Ivy looked over to the duck, but he didn't really seem like he was focusing much—probably because he was getting worn out. She often found it hard to do paperwork and other office work when she was really tired. She could see the Farfetch'd's leek dipping down every now and then before he would snap more awake and look more alert. It was really just a matter of time.

While the duck was struggling to stand, Fataro started her technique. She darted off in a run, and then, her tails did a weird flicking motion, and light covered her for an instant. She jumped, and then she was flying through the air, propelled by some sort of energy her tails were causing. She flew toward the bird, and then time seemed to slow down as she connected.

Ivy could clearly see her body flip down when moments before she had been just a blur. It was pretty flashy, which is just what a contest Pokemon would want. She righted herself in midair, but her tails continued to swing, and they hit the Farfetch'd right on top of the head, like he had done to her earlier with the leek.

He made a loud squawk, but Fataro wasn't done. As soon as her feet hit the floor, her tails went to work again. This time, both of them pulled back behind her and ignited in dazzling red and orange flames. They both shot forward at the same time, giving the duck a double punch of fire.

With that, the wild Pokemon made more noises as he was knocked over, rolling backward, bill over feet. He crushed grasses as he went, and when he finally stopped, he was dizzy as he stood. He wobbled from side to side like even the slightest breeze would knock him over. Then, he rapidly shook his head to clear it.

He looked a little better, but not much. Still, with a war cry he darted off toward the monkey. Ivy saw his beak glow a sickly shade of purple before he jabbed at Fataro, making her cry out in surprise. Hitting something solid threw off the bird, however, as he stumbled back from her and looked a little dazed. He couldn't stand still either, as his almost drunken steps got even worse.

Ivy hoped that Ataro ended this soon for the bird's sake too.

Fataro did exactly as we had practiced all along and she soon smashed herself into the Farfetch'd who was just sitting there and not moving. It was probably tired by the pace of the battle and didn't have much stamina left. Once she touched ground, her two tails lighted up in a fiery ember and strike her foe with a dual Fire Punch.

The Farfetch'd was instantly knocked backwards and tumbled on the ground, flattening all the grass that he had rolled over. He finally managed to get up after some struggle, but was swaying back and forth unsteadily. After a while, he shook his head to get rid of the confusion, and dashed towards Fataro after a loud cry. Fataro didn't had enough time to react however, especially after performing a complex combination of moves. The bird's peak glowed briefly in a fuchsia purple color and I immediately knew what attack it was.

    Don't poison, don't poison...

He then jabbed Fataro with a Poison Jab, making Fataro cry out in pain and surprise. As he tumbled backwards again after the impact, I noticed that the wound had bruised Fataro, but there were no signs of poison. I breathed a sign of relief, since I really didn't want any negative status conditions on my Pokemon. Farfetch'd meanwhile, was looking as confused as ever. It was as if he was drunk.

"Fataro, give it one last Swift and we will go for a capture. Watch out for the strength of your attack though, remember to tune it down. We want it alive still," I reminded Fataro again. I then grabbed a Park Ball from my bag and prepared to throw it once Farfetch'd's health was lowered further by Swift.

The Trainer clenched his fists as he watched his Pokemon attack. He was probably looking for one of Poison Jab's other side effects—poison. However, Fataro seemed just fine, so he let out a sigh of relief. Ivy could tell that this battle was winding down. A drunken Farfetch'd did not a good fighter make.

“Fataro, give it one last Swift and we will go for a capture,” Ataro said.

Normally, repeating the same techniques wasn't very effective in shorter battles like these unless the user performed them in a different way. The wild Pokemon were tuned into battle, so they could easily spot body movements of repeat moves and tended to mostly avoid them.

In this case, the duck was too tired to do that. He didn't even try to form any sort of counterattack as the pink Ambipom swished her tails, making those star-shaped energy pockets form again. They ran at Farfetch'd in a straight line this time, not needing a different formation to seek the target since he was in plain sight.

The bird didn't even let out a cry of hurt or anything. As the starts his his chest, he plopped down on his behind, and his leek sat motionless on the ground. He was just too tired.

Ataro took his chance and threw his Park Ball, and the device bounced off of Farfetch'd's bill before sucking him up in a beam of red light. The ball didn't even shake as it hit the ground, and the center immediately lit up in red, signaling a success.

“Congratulations,” Ivy said, walking the short way to the ball so she could put it in her pocket. “Do you want to take a rest for a few minutes or keep going? And were you looking for other Normal-types?”

As Fataro performed a repeat of the Swift attack, the Farfetch'd didn't even try to dodge or anything but took the attack face-flat. He was probably way too tired to move and didn't bothered doing anything else. He didn't even bother to make any sounds too. I took the opportunity and quickly threw the Park Ball that I had, which promptly captured the Farfetch'd by sealing shut immediately. The Farfetch'd didn't even put up any form of struggle.

“Congratulations,” Ivy said, as she walked over to the capture device to pick it up. “Do you want to take a rest for a few minutes or keep going? And were you looking for other Normal-types?”

"Yeah, let's try for Spinda next," I said, and patted Fataro's head to thank her for her help. After that, I took out a different Voice Disk. Taking the Farfetch'd Voice Disk out and handing it over to Ataro, I then popped in the Spinda one, before placing the Farfetch'd disk back into my bag.

These Voice Disks had the ability to rerecord voices, so it would be very stupid of me to just throw them away. I'd just pay a small fee to rerecord another Pokemon's voice in it later on. I decided to go for Spinda first as well; I figured I should leave the hardest Pokemon for last. Farfetch'd had left Fataro quite exhausted. Though she was still capable of battling, she was no longer in tip top shape. I didn't brought along Miltank to heal them up as well.

I pressed the 'Play' button again and the cry of Spinda echoed through the woods. I have been wanting one of these Pokemon for quite some time now. They were not only cuddly and adorable, but they had a usual niche in battling alongside Slaking since they had the ability to help Slaking get rid of its ability that hindered it. They were very special as well, for each Spinda had their own unique set of spots. I then waited for my ranger to lead me around the woods again. If our luck is good, Spinda just might appear anytime soon.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

The Trainer was in fact looking for more normal types. A lot of type collectors came to the Park, since this was the best place to find more rare Pokemon. They had accounts of at least one Pokemon from every species seen here. It sometimes just took a long time to find them.

“Yeah, let's try for Spinda next,” he answered, taking out his Farfetch'd voice disk and putting in another one. He pressed play and a Spinda's cry rang out. They waited a minute for the sound to travel, and Ataro patted his pink monkey on the head for doing a good job.

Nothing popped up right away, but she didn't really expect it too. Voice disks were tricky—they only covered a certain area, so it was better to travel around while the sound played so that Pokemon could hear it. Sometimes the matching Pokemon still couldn't hear the disk, but it was better than wandering around blindly when a Trainer was looking for a specific type.

Ivy decided to keep leading them through the underbrush. He had gotten lucky with the Farfetch'd being in this area, and she hoped the trend would continue. Eventually the trees got a little denser, and some of the wild grass was only a few inches above the ground instead of closer to a foot. Then, there was a drop-off as the landscape sloped down sharply.

The Ranger put her hand on one of the trees on the edge so she wouldn't fall down abruptly. It looked like they could use the trees rooted into the hill to slow their momentum going down. That way none of them should get hurt. Then again, if she had fallen, there was the chance that Haji would've caught her with his Psychic energy.

“Something is there,” he told her suddenly, within her mind. She peeled her eyes sharply, and eventually she saw the Pokemon he was talking about.

A pair of beady yellow eyes were staring up at them from the bottom of the slope. It had a blue almond-shaped body, with little nubs for hands and feet. Yellow scales covered its stomach, and it had something of a fork spike on top of its head.

“There's a Karrablast down there,” she told Ataro. “Not quite to Spinda yet, but do you want to take a shot at it?”

We waited for a while but it didn't seemed like we were in close proximity with a Spinda. Ivy decided to lead me through the underbrush. We continued walking but the landscape had sloped down sharply here. Ivy quickly placed her hand on one of the trees cautiously and I followed suit. It was best to follow what my ranger did if I am going to avoid trouble.

Her attention was switched to her Espeon suddenly. I imagined them to be communicating telepathically. She then traced her gazed over to the bottom of the slope. True enough, there was something there. It was a Bug-type Pokemon. Rather small-sized, and was colored in shades of blue and yellow. Nothing too interesting. Karrablast and Escavalier were not exactly so good that I would want one for myself. Their counterpart on the other hand - Shelgor and Accelgor - were much better.

“There's a Karrablast down there,” she said. “Not quite to Spinda yet, but do you want to take a shot at it?”

"Nah, I will pass it up. Let's try and ignore it. If not, I'm gonna have to use a Pokedoll," I replied, and reached into my bag for a Pokedoll just in case.
