Akinai shook her head, declining the offer. Machoke was a strong Pokemon, however there were other easy ways of obtaining it. Joe looked ahead and tried to find an opening, hoping to run straight past the huge body-builder Pokemon. Joe tired to run one way, trying to squeeze past the fighting Pokemon. Akinai watched as Joe failed and held out a small Machop PokeDoll from her bag. She threw the life size doll away to the left of them, hoping the Machoke would abandon his position.

The Machoke watched as the Trainer threw the doll to the side. He watched as it bounced along the ground and like it was an instinct, ran after the bouncing doll. Joe smiled and lead Akinai into the small cave. The entered the cave and walked a couple of metres before reaching a clearing. Joe wondered why it was labelled a cave on the map, when it clearly was just a tunnel.

As they exited the 'cave', they found themselves in a valley with a huge platform in the middle. From a distance, it looked like an abandoned battle field from when they used to host Pokemon battles. The crowd would sit on an artificial stand, carved out of the valley face. Joe looked up and noticed a lonely Pokemon practising on the battlefield. He lead Akinai to the battle ground and noticed a small Scraggy, bashing his head on the boulders that were scattered across the field. This must have been a training ground for the local Pokemon, teaching them the key life skills to survive in a battle. Scraggy noticed the two humans approaching and halted from training.

"Want to battle this Scraggy?" Joe asked.

Not surprisingly, the Machoke didn't look like he wanted to move out of their way any time soon; it simply held its ground in the center of the path with a rather bored expression, as if waiting for them to attack. While Joe tried to squeeze through somehow, it was no use. The path was simply too narrow to allow anyone to pass by without contact.

Akinai watched the two while trying to act nonchalant, caught between annoyance and impatience as it became more and more clear that this wild Pokemon appeared to be toying with them more than just acting aggressive like most who wanted a battle. Going through her pack once more, she finally fished out another Pokedoll, this one in a striking likeness to a Machop. Hopefully it would seem real enough to the Machoke, or at least interest it enough to actually move. She tossed it slightly off to the side, just enough in the Fighting-type's sight so he would have to be nearly blind to miss the toy.

At first, it seemed to have failed spectacularly. The Doll simply fell off the side of the path, rolling and slightly bouncing as it tumbled down. On the second bounce, the Machoke finally expressed interest in the Toy, bounding off the path as it tried to catch the Pokedoll.

Joe smiled as he watched the spectacle for a few moments, then began to lead them towards the cave. The interior was just as small as it looked on the outside, only going about an estimated six feet or so, before they reached the exit and headed into a clearing. Compared to the caves and narrow paths traveled upon earlier, this was almost a polar opposite in everything but climate.

Up ahead was a wide valley, housing what almost appeared to be a miniature arena, platform and all. There were no spectators to be found, no lines to wait in, just a lonely battleground in the middle of nowhere. The only movement that could be seen was a lone figure, moving about the field with precise movements.

Akinai was more curious than surprised at this sight, though it did seem a little odd. Then again, she had stumbled upon an even stranger sight on her first Park run. During the dead-end of her encounters for that day, they had discovered what looked to be a temple, evil deity and all. While she had found out much later that this Island did have a few man-made areas integrated into it, the construct did seem rather odd due to it being far off the main path... much like this arena, come to think of it. Perhaps Pokemon knew more about molding structures than people gave them credit for.

As they drew closer to the field proper, the lone Pokemon was finally identified. It was small compared to the creatures they had passed earlier, barely passing a couple feet in height. It had a yellow body with a face set in what appeared to be a permanent frown, along with a loose amount of scaly skin near the legs which oddly resembled a set of baggy pants. While the wild Pokemon had been headbutting a set of boulders on the field, it stopped and looked curiously over at the two humans as they walked into range.

“Want to battle this Scraggy?” Joe asked, looking over at Akinai as he waited for a response.

“Well, I already have a Scrafty..” Akinai replied, trying to explain before she got ready to head out once more. Scraggy were decently rare, but she didn't care to own two of the same Pokemon if it could be helped. Plus, she had sort of wanted to use Wist, her Banette in the next fight. Since Scraggy was part Dark though, Wist would be put at a disadvantage at the start. And yet...

Scraggy, due to their rarity, made decent trade bait. Them same may have been true about Sawk, but Akinai was thinking more about possible members on her team rather than something she could trade in the future. That, and the person she had received Scrafty from had expressed interest in raising another one soon; if no other interesting Pokemon showed up, she would at least have something to show for out of this run other than just Mienfoo.

Realizing that she had paused in the middle of a sentence, Akinai finished her thought, “But I suppose having another one wouldn't hurt.” She paused a moment as she tried to decide who to use for the battle, then decided upon her third current party member. “Sonar, you're up!” Akinai called, tossing the Pokeball upwards.

The sphere opened and the trademark white light shot forth, materializing into the form of a four-winged violet creature. Much like Scraggy, this Pokemon appeared to be constantly frowning as well, but that is where the similarities ended abruptly.

“Start things out with a Screech, then go in for a Poison Fang,” Akinai instructed the Crobat, pointing over at Scraggy. While she could have commanded something more powerful, for the moment she simply wished to test the waters.

Sonar, who had been stretching out her wings due to being cooped up so long, opened her mouth to release an ear-piercing screech. With any luck, this would shake up the target and lower its defenses. Once this was done, Sonar would attempt to lunge forward and try to land a sharp bite on the Scraggy, doing both damage and possibly poisoning it as well.

“Well, I already have a Scrafty..” Akinai replied. There was a pause. Joe assumed that Akinai was thinking about whether she should battle this Scraggy or not. Scraggy was an interesting Pokemon. It's unique tying of Dark and Fighting meant that it was not effective by Psychic attacks, which are super effective against a plain fighting Pokemon. Also Scraggy had an interesting ability called Moxie, which increased the attack when he had knocked out a Pokemon. Akinai broke from her thoughts and replied, “But I suppose having another one wouldn't hurt.”

Akinai grabbed a small Pokeball and threw it into the air whilst calling out, “Sonar, you're up!” Before the the run, Joe read through Akinai's file and noted that Sonar was her Crobat. The ball exploded with a flash and a four winged violet bat flew out of the ball. Despite Scraggy's typing removing its weakness for psychic, it still was weak to flying attacks which meant that its battle against Crobat was going to be hard.

“Start things out with a Screech, then go in for a Poison Fang,” Akinai called to Sonar.

Sonar stretched her wings after being cramped in a ball and opened her mouth, producing a barrage of sound waves which carried a high pitch screech. The sound waves expanded as they left the mouth of Crobat and crashed down on the Scraggy. Joe quickly raised his hands to his ears, muffling the piercing sound. The sound waves crashed down on Scraggy, causing the small Shedding Pokemon some discomfort. Scraggy quickly raised his excess piece of skin to his head, protecting his ears from the sound.

Crobat quickly stopped and tucked her wings into her body and dived down towards the Scraggy. She opened her mouth, revealing her sharp white fangs. Soon a thick gooey purple liquid started to coat the fangs. Scraggy, only noticing the screeching had stopped, lowered its piece of skin. The Pokemon looked distraught by the sounds and didn't notice the oncoming Crobat. Crobat swooped down and planted its purple coated fangs into the side of Scraggy. Scraggy cried out with pain and quickly slammed its head into the body of Crobat. Crobat released its fangs and quickly returned to the sky. Scraggy managed to stop Crobat from inducing poison into its body.

Scraggy looked up at the Crobat and smiled before launching its body into the air. Crobat was amazed at the height Scraggy was able to reach. The small Shedding Pokemon raised both fists and slammed them down onto the wings of Crobat. Crobat was sent crashing down into the battlefield. Scraggy landed on the battlefield, staring at the grounded bat.

Joe suddenly recognized that move from somewhere and quickly said to Akinai, "Scraggy just used Smack Down, a move which its target vulnerable to Ground-type moves. It looks like Crobat's wings are injured, meaning it won't be able to fly for a while."

Crobat tired to flap her wings, hoping to get back into the air. She managed to get herself into the air, however couldn't flying any higher. Scraggy was no able to hit Crobat with its fighting moves and other physical moves.

OOC: Male, please. Also, the MCR is incorrect :p

As Sonar released a powerful Screech, Scraggy immediately went to cover his ears from the damaging sound. Having no other materials with which to help stave off the noise, the wild Pokemon opted to use the loose skin on the lower part of his body instead, stretching the section up to his head for protection.

Akinai tried to stay serious, but couldn't help but smirk a little The Scraggy's current appearance was almost comical; for the moment it looked as if Sonar was simply fighting an oversized pair of pants. “I knew that Scraggy had a somewhat elastic skin, but this is going into ridiculous territories,” she mused.

Sonar paid no attention, the Crobat completely focused upon battle and nothing else. She finished her screeching and immediately switched into Poison Fang, swooping down upon her target and landing a nasty bite on the Scraggy's side. The Fighting-type let out a pained cry, but didn't appear to be poisoned.

Scraggy immediately retaliated, launching his head towards Sonar and landing a solid hit on the Crobat, causing his opponent to immediately unlatch her fangs and fly upwards to avoid another attack. Instead of showing disappointment towards being unable to land another blow on his target, Scraggy did something else entirely- he smiled.

Just what is this thing planning, Akinai thought to herself, watching the Scraggy with a slight frown on her face. Most Fighting-type Pokemon were next to useless when faced with a flying foe, due to their moves mainly being physical. Dark Pokemon were similar in this regard as well, so if anything the Scraggy should be at an disadvantage. Even a move like Jump Kick couldn't hit a flying target if they were high up enough after all. Unless this thing could sprout wings, Sonar was safe for now.

Scraggy, still grinning, launched into his next attack, leaping high into air. Sonar, who had simply flown high enough to be just out of the Pokemon's range, could only watch blankly for the moment as the wild Pokemon passed her in height, impressed by the unique move. Before the Crobat could move, Scraggy immediately took both fists and smashed down hard on one of Sonar's upper wings, taking his opponent with him as they crashed down on the ground.

Akinai's face immediately changed from confidence to utter surprise, looking over at the Scraggy in a new light, “What in the world-”

“Scraggy just used Smack Down, a move which its target vulnerable to Ground-type moves,” Joe explained, seeing the Trainer's surprise. “It looks like Crobat's wings are injured, meaning it won't be able to fly for a while.”

To prove this point, Sonar weakly picked herself off from the ground, flapping her wings to get airborne once more but shuddered as her injured wing took too much strain. While she could manage a little bit of height, it was plain to all that she would not be flying high for a while.

“Fantastic,” Akinai muttered, trying to decide what to do now. Most of Sonar's attacks were aerial-based, requiring her to get some air before performing them. Long-ranged attacks could still work, but sending the Pokemon in for a physical attack without an exit would be almost suicide. Scraggy had definitely played its cards well here. Thankfully though, Sonar could still fight for now, if only with a serious handicap.

“Show that Scraggy that you're not done yet, Sonar,” Akinai called out to the Crobat, attempting to inspire confidence in the creature. “Keep it away with an Air Slash, then hit it with your Hidden Power!” The second move was icing on the cake more than anything else, but she needed something to weaken their opponent before moving into her next attack.

Sonar nodded, then sharply moved her undamaged wings forward, trying to blast a strong gust of wind forward. If this was successful, the air air pushed forward from this move would be concentrated into a single sharp gust of wind, hopefully slashing the Scraggy. Once this was done, Sonar would then glow with a light yellow light before concentrating this energy towards her target.

“Show that Scraggy that you're not done yet, Sonar,” Akinai called out to her Crobat, trying to boost her confidence. “Keep it away with an Air Slash, then hit it with your Hidden Power!”

Joe bit his lip as he was curious how the battle would turn out. Crobat acknowledged Akinai’s command and focused her attention towards Scarggy.

Although Crobat could fly, it still was able to make us of its wings. She raised one of the wings into the air and started to generate energy at the tip. A small spiral of white energy started to form. Joe knew that Air Slash was a flying attack that did involve any physical contact, meaning that Crobat could attack Scraggy with moving towards him. Once the spiral of energy was ready, Crobat sliced her wing down towards the floor, with the white energy still attached to the wing. As Crobat sliced her wing down, the white energy formed into a shape which copied the motion of the wing, and was sent flying towards Scraggy. The white banana-like energy sliced into Scraggy, sending the small fighting Pokemon flying. Joe was surprised how powerful that attack was and watched as Scraggy made his way back up to his feet.

Scraggy looked up towards the Crobat and held both of his hands out to his side. His hands suddenly started to glow in a bright blue colour. Joe couldn’t recognize the attack from a distance; however he knew that Scraggy didn’t learn a lot of special moves, and his movepool was mainly physical moves. Then Scraggy threw his hands towards Crobat, like his was throwing a baseball. As he threw his hands towards Crobat, a medium light blue orb left his hand. The light blue orb was sent spiralling towards Crobat and smashed into the chest of Crobat, sending the bat Pokemon crashing into the ground.

Crobat quickly got back up and started to glow in a bright yellow colour. Joe looked at Crobat’s file and noticed that it didn’t learn a move which could produce electricity. It was odd. Then Crobat cried out loud and small disks of electricity shot out from Crobat, directed towards Scraggy. Meanwhile, Scraggy decided to attack Crobat up close and took off from the ground towards Crobat. The small electrical disks collided into the speeding fighting Pokemon; however Scraggy braced the attacks and raised his right hand again. As soon as he was close to Crobat, Scraggy slammed his right hand down against Crobat’s chest. Scraggy quickly retreated back to its original position.

Crobat shrugged off the pain from the attack and started to flap her wings. Over the course of the round, it looked like her wings had recovered. Crobat flapped her wings and took off into the air.

OOC: If cap is successful, would like to end the run and leave with Mienfoo and Scraggy.

Despite Sonar's damaged wing, she was still able to send a powerful slice of wind towards the wild Scraggy, knocking the Pokemon off of his feet and sending him tumbling. After picking himself off from the ground, it was clear that the Fighting-type was well out of range to perform any physical attacks. Instead, he began to charge up a sphere of sky-blue energy and shot it towards Sonar, sending the Crobat crashing to the ground once more.

“Was that Focus Blast?” Akinai asked, more to herself than anyone else. While the move was quite powerful, she could honestly say that she was surprised to see it; after all, with Sonar's typing the attack would do a much smaller amount of damage than usual. Either this Scraggy was still young, or it was running out of options.

Sonar managed to right herself into the air, and began to charge up her next attack. Electricity appeared to shoot off in small, stray sparks for a moment before more powerful bolts shot straight towards Scraggy. This move seemed to surprise Joe as well- seeing a Flying-type use an Electric move most likely did not happen often.

Scraggy, instead of shrinking back from the attack like before, instead steadily made his way forward, enduring the shocks as best he could. Once he was in range once more, the lizardlike Pokemon landed a single sharp punch on Sonar, both ending the attack and startling the Crobat.

When Sonar lifted off once more, it was at a slightly higher height than before. The Crobat hovered unevenly a moment as she tested her damaged wing, then let off a short cry of relief as it was apparent the wing was serviceable once more.

Good, that makes things a little more easy.
Granted, judging from the way Scraggy was currently carrying itself, this match was almost over anyways. One more move would most likely do the trick. “Sonar, finish it off with an Air Cutter, then be sure to get out of the way,” Akinai called out to her Crobat before taking a look through her pack.

Sonar complied, flying higher a moment before making her way towards Scraggy. Air Cutter was similar to Air Slash, as they both relied on using wind rather then a physical limb hitting the target. Due to the way it was performed though, Air Cutter usually did a lower amount of damage.

Once Sonar had an ample amount of time to perform her move, Akinai pulled out a Superball from her pack. As soon as she had a clear shot, she would toss the sphere towards Scraggy, hopefully capturing the Pokemon and ending their adventure here.

“Sonar, finish it off with an Air Cutter, then be sure to get out of the way,” Akinai called out. Joe realized that Akinai must be ready to wrap things up here since Air Cutter was a strong move which could deal some serious damage for Scraggy.

Sonar nodded at her trainers comment and started to frantically slice her wings through the air, creating waves of piercing gales toward Scraggy. The winds swept Scraggy of his feet and sent flying towards the edge of the battleground. It held on with its small arms and tried to climb back up, battling against the raging wind. Scraggy slowly made its way back onto the battlefield and staggered towards Crobat. Akinai knew now was her chance to capture the wild Pokemon and removed a Superball from her rucksack and held it ready. As soon as Scraggy was close enough, Akinai threw the Superball towards the fighting Pokemon. The ball bounced off the head of Scraggy and burst open. A small thin red laser absorbed Scraggy into the Parkball.

The ball rolled along the ground until finally, a ping confirmed the capture. Joe walked towards the ball and picked it up and placed it in the same pouch as Mienfoo. He walked up to Akinai and said, “Congratulations, want to carry on?” She shook her head and explained that she wanted to go home. Joe understood and handed over the two captured Pokemon.

“Bye,” Joe said as he watched Akinai walked down the road with her two captured Pokemon.
