I walked around the docks, waiting. I was still having trouble believing that I had been called to assist someone who I had always considered make-believe and child's play. In my mind, Santa had never existed save for when I was six. That is, until now where he called upon me and a horde of other Pokemon trainers.

I walked into the Ranger Station, looking for the ranger who had, over the phone, promised to take me through the park.

 

It has a while since Ranger Natsu was actually assigned to a Trainer, but seeing as it was Christmas, he decided to lend a hand or two the Park's Ranger Association. The Docks were usually warm and with about moderate temperature all around that even a few Pokemon would take refuge. But seeing it was the winter season, the only kind of Pokemon Natsu's eyes captured were the Ice Types. Hordes of Piloswine were migrating about while a group of Sneasels were perched on top a Tree, watching the Trainer who approached Natsu, with keen eyes.

"Alright then, I've received instructions, kiddo. You're supposed to wear the Beard and then off we go to the Woods." Natsu laughed a little, considering how goofy the Trainer would look with his new artificial facial hair.

The Ranger walked over, seemingly pleased to have someone to take through the park.

"Alright then, I've received instructions, kiddo. You're supposed to wear the Beard and then off we go to the Woods," he said to me.

"Huh?" I said, slightly startled by the official request. "Okay..."

I reached into my backpack and rummaged around for the white, puffy beard. I pulled it out of my pack and held it up a little, searching for some sort of a fastener. I found one and put the facial hair on.

"Ho ho ho!" I said, doing a quick jig. "Off to the woods, then!"

 

"Hahahah!"

Natsu laughed over a few times, looking at how silly the Trainer actually looked with a white beard. Nonetheless, he was a Ranger, and he had to do his job. The Trainer seemed pretty psyched after letting out an echo similar to Father Christmas'.

Whilst trekking through a visible route around the Woods, there was a particular bush nearby which gave out some rustles. A Nidoran[] stood in front of the only possible way further into the Woods.

"Looks like we've crossed territories. Time to shine, kiddo!"

Natsu nodded as he jumped aside, letting the Trainer to take the lead in this 'epic' battle.

Ranger's Comments : First battle of the day! Send out your Pokemon, along with the moves ^^

 

I looked over at the Nidoran which had apparently been angered because I had trespassed on its territory. No matter, though, as my Ranger was fairly certain that I could defeat it.

"Let's go, Gliscor!" I shouted, letting the blue and yellow bat faze in from the Pokeball that was previously attached to my belt. "Hit it fast and hit it hard with an Earthquake!"

Hopefully this would weaken it enough so that I could finish with another move.

 

Gliscor landed to the grounds below, and this gave an foresight to Nidoran, as it somehow knew Gliscor might be using some sort of move. As Gliscor wavered its tail up, Nidoran took quick opportunity to run towards it. Gliscor was a bit off, but it took no longer, and slammed its tail against the ground, creating a powerful earthquake that shook the battlefield. However, Nidoran leaped just a bit after the tremor and protruded Gliscor with a sharp horn; Horn Attack. But in return, Nidoran did receive a good amount of damage from the earlier Earthquake set off by Gliscor.

Ranger's Comments : If you want your Move to do more damage, you can choose to RP more.

The move did not do what was expected. Gliscor slammed his tail into the ground, causing a serious Earthquake, but the Nidoran avoided the brunt of the damage by jumping and slamming the surprised Flyscorp Pokemon with its horn.

Needless to say, Gliscor was shocked. He had no idea that such a tiny Pokemon would be able to hurt it so much. It felt a reprisal was necessary and I felt the same.

"Gliscor!" I shouted, catching my Pokemon's attention. "Quickly attack it, throw it to the side and launch an Ice Fang attack!"

Quick Attack, I have learned, is great for getting very close to your opponent very fast. This would always be necessary to Gliscor's tactics; hit fast and hard before the opponent has any idea what the heck is going on. If this worked right, the Quick Attack would knock the small, purple Pokemon to the side and off balance it. If this would be so, then Gliscor will swoop around and blast bolts of ice from its teeth at the foe. I could only hope that the Nidoran wouldn't think ahead of this combo attack, because the results could easily be devastating.

I pushed the last thought from my mind and stared at the battle that was taking place. My mind urged Gliscor to lunge now, but he new best for his battle. I could only wait.

 

Gliscor shook off any dust off itself while Nidoran smirked away in a distance. It was pissed off at the fact that a small Pokemon could torment it this much, but it didn't lose its cool. Gliscor quickly jumped into the air and tackled the opponent at a fast speed. Nidoran did not see this coming however, due to the fact of it underestimating an opponent who is larger and more powerful than its own size. Nidoran was rammed into a tree as the flyscorp quickly pulled back a little. Nidoran was dazed from the impact, and Gliscor quickly took of this opportunity to launch another attack.It's fangs began to glow light blue and it released two light blue beams of energy from its fangs right at the Nidoran. Already having damaged from the earlier Quick Attack, and along with this, Nidoran was pretty much done for.

It quickly recovered from its limbo stance, and ran away. Gliscor made a huge pout, as it seemed like to be thinking to itself, "Yeah, run away and fight someone your own size!"

"Oh lookie here, we've found one of those Christmas Items!"

Natsu signaled the Trainer, as he pulled out a couple of Snow Star Crystals from the ground.

"Shall we continue now, Trainer?"...

"Yes," I said. "Let's keep going. This beard is getting scratchier by the minute."

The Masquerain appeared out of no where, flapping its moth-y wings repeatedly to keep itself aloft. It then saw me and attacked.

"Go, Gliscor!" I called, sending out my gargoyle Pokemon once more.

I pondered what to use against this moth and could not come up with a reasonable conclusion as I had no idea what type it was. This new critter was one of the few that I never seemed to remember. I had to rely on instincts to take it out. It looked like a moth, possibly a Dustox or Butterfree. This seemed to imply, to me, that it was of the bug type. I looked closer to see if there was a secondary typing, which I was sure there was because of the way that most of these bugs are. It seemed to handle the wind with ease, so I decided to trust my luck.

"Quickly, Gliscor!" I called. "Hit it with your strongest Stone Edge!"

Stone Edge is widely know as being one of the strongest of the Rock type moves. It is contained in a TM which makes it widely useable among Pokemon. It may miss sometimes, but it reliably hits a weak spot on its target Pokemon every few uses. This was my best choice for knocking the moth Pokemon out of my way.

The moth-ish Pokemon was faster than expected. It flashed its wings which looked like wings and sent an unearthly, unbearable buzz out in all directions. It resounded off the many trees, undoubtedly scaring off the local wildlife. I, myself, could hardly believe how ear-scathing it was. My ranger also looked unsettled, wincing at the sound. Gliscor almost flinched a little but, thankfully, he recovered.

Gliscor lunged at the offending bug with sharp, jagged stones floating closely around its claws until it was below the offending moth. It flew sharply upwards with claws that were even sharper stabbing into the Pokemon's belly. The bug seemed to take lots of damage, but it seemed to be able to handle it.

As the Pokemon flew back to their battle positions, I noticed one thing that had to change; the Masquerain was much faster than Gliscor. I thought about slamming it with another Stone Edge, but the speed advantage was the priority here. Rock Tomb as my best bet in this situation. If it hit and did what it was supposed to, a set of rocks would be thrown at the foe, restricting its movement severely. The rocks would stay around to keep it pinned to the ground. Then, I could smash the critter with another Stone Edge. I liked this plan.

"Gliscor!" I called, issuing my next command. "Pin it to the ground with a Rock Tomb so that it'll have its speed cut!"

Again, I could only wait to see if the attack was successful.

We walked around the Woods, trying to get past the many changing paths and into the next area. The sounds of the forest were soothing, but rather eerie if you thought about it. The sounds resounded off the leaves and trees, making one Kricketot seem like a horde of them. It was soothing in a way that I couldn't place. The noises were like an ancient music, one that we would listen to if we were less evolved.

I was so lost in my thoughts and in the music that my Ranger had to stop me from walking into the tongue of an agitated Lickitung.

"Hey!" He called out to me. I was startled and stopped walking. I turned to face forward and noticed a Lickitung less than a foot in front of me.

"Thanks," I replied. I backed up and produced a Pokeball from my belt. I released the contents of the Pokeball, a Raticate, between me and the slightly angry, pink Pokemon with a large gaping tongue.

"All right, Raticate!" I started to issue my commands. "Charge it with a Super Fang attack!"

Super Fang was one of the most feared attacks a Raticate could muster. The user would lunge at its foe and slam it with its fangs. Bashing and slashing, it would reduce the foe's Hit Points by half. I stood back and let my Raticate do the needed work to calm the opposing Pokemon.

 

"All right, Raticate!" The Trainer said about to command Raticate. "Charge it with a Super Fang attack!"

Raticate nodded and ran towards Lickitung and sank his white fangs, which were no a lot bigger than normal, into Lickitung skin. Lickitung leaped into the air and landed with it's feet and hit Raticate.

"Wow, That was Stomp" I said as I watched what would happen next.

Raticate did what it was told and charged the long tongue Pokemon. My Pokemon bit and slashed at it with its fangs, while the Lickitung tried to pull itself together. It leapt into the air and slammed my rat Pokemon with its feet.

"Wow! That was Stomp!" My ranger commented, seemingly impressed at my foe's resistance, even if he was being slightly unhelpful in the matter of suggestions.

Now, the matter was what to do next. I could risk another similar charging attack, but the pinkish Pokemon seemed slightly unsure of what to do. It was almost as if it would flee if it took anymore damage. This gave me an idea.

"Raticate," I called. "Use your Quickest of Attack on your enemy!"

I knew that it would charge off with a very light, but fast attack intended to scare it off. If it worked, I would be one step closer to getting to the Outer Heaven. This part was entirely luck and I could only wait for my oversized rat to make its move.

 

Joe watched Raticate suddenly pick up speed and charge straight at Lickitung. The Lickitung was hurt and quickly scampered into the forest.

"Looks like you told him" Joe said and continued to carry on and picked up some Milk and Cookies left behind by the Lickitung. Neat

We continued to carry on and Joe noticed a green shine in the distance. As the walked closer a small fairy appeared.

"Wow, It's Celebi and she has a Christmas Item"

Raticate did exactly what it was told. It picked up speed until it was less than a blur and slammed into the opposing Lickitung. The large pink Pokemon ran away, upset that it had been hammered so hard by such a common Pokemon.

"Looks like you told him," my Ranger said. He then picked up some milk and cookies that the long tongue Pokemon dropped. How the Pokemon hadn't managed to eat the delectable-looking chocolate chip cookies by now, I would never know. My Ranger pocketed our findings, which was a little weird considering the milk didn't want to be pocketed, and walked on through the woods.

I noticed a small green shine ahead and my Ranger seemed to see it too. It grew progressively brighter as we neared, until we noticed that it was, in fact, a Pokemon.

It was one of the smaller Pokemon, around a foot high. It floated around like a fairy and was as green as the surrounding forest. I turned to my Ranger questioningly, for I had no idea what it was. I assumed it was a Pokemon, however.

"Wow, It's Celebi!" he said in response. "And she has a Christmas Item."

It was mostly a given that it had a Christmas item for all of the Pokemon in this area seemed to have some sort of red and white thing with them. This particular Pokemon was wearing a small Santa Suit, making it look rather jolly.

This Celebi creature was of the like that I had never seen before, so I pulled out my blue and yellow Pokedex.

"Celebi," my 'dex said in a robotic monotone. "This Legendary Pokemon controls time with ease. It often teleports Trainers and Pokemon that disrupt their adopted forest into the past or the future, but will return them if asked to."

Great. So this little green forest guardian would whisk me away if I bothered it too much. Let's just get it out of here.

"Go Raticate!" I released the brown rat Pokemon and pulled out a locket which I had bought for this mission. "Scare the Celebi off with a Super Fang attack!"
