"Rex, can you take this run?" Christina called out to me. I sleepily lifted my head off of my desk. "He wants to go now."

"No, can't you see I'm sleeping." I called back. "Get someone who cares."

"But there is no one else." She said, "and I don't like to keep people waiting."

"Again, tell someone who cares." I said, beginning to fall back to sleep. Then Colossus, my Golett shook my shoulder and pointed towards Christina. "You want me to take that?"

"Golett!" He said, nodding his head. I looked over towards Christina, then towards Golett and groaned.

"Okay, but only because you asked." I said, "Tell Siless to be there in twenty minutes because I don't have all day." With that, I walked out of the building. I moved over towards the bike rack and saw that my dirt bike was missing. I quickly stormed back into the Rangers headquarters and towards Christina's desk.

"Where is my dirt bike?" I asked.''

"Leo took it." She responded, "He's at the gardens as well."

"WHAT? Why didn't you make him take it?" I said angrily. "Man, people here are so dumb." I said once I was outside. I looked over towards the ugly golf cart and sighed. I got on and made my way to the Botanical Gardens. I saw my bike parked near the gate and I quickly ran towards it.

"Damn Leo, taking my shit." I said, making sure it was still the way I left it. When I saw that it was okay, I moved towards the gate and waited for Siless to come.

It was a bit of a wait. And by 'a bit of a wait', I meant half-an-hour. It was certainly less than it was before the influx of rangers, but at the rate they were gobbling them up I was surprised that it was taken at half-an-hour and not either taken instantly or taken after a long hiatus to let the rangers rest up. Christina walking up to me with a folder told me before she said anything that someone had taken it; it was lucky she got there right as I finished checking the shop finances for the day, and not when I was starting to go through the ranger-pack inventories.

"He said meet him in twenty minutes." Christina handed me the final paperwork, and I performed a quick glance over to make sure everything was in order. I was instantly glad I did, but that didn't stop me from becoming frustrated.

"…twenty minutes from when he left?"

    "Yeah, why?"

    "…That was fifteen minutes ago."

Granted, I was taking Sela with me, and she always made sure we were on time, if not early, with her Teleport. It's just… I'd like to know my run is taken before it's five minutes until it starts.

One bright blue flash later, and I was standing at the Garden Outpost with Sela ready to go on another run and Cosmos in her ball, prepared in case I needed her for a battle. Cosmos seemed to be less than enthusiastic about walking the whole way, preferring to save its energy for battling, though I figured it would enjoy itself in the area at least.

I pulled out my Poképlayer from my bag, already filled with my Petilil voice disk. I figured, if nothing else, it would help me find the Lilligant I took care of earlier (because being a Grass Gym Leader means, to the higher ups, I am the most qualified to deal with the medical problems of Grass-type Pokémon. Apparently there's no on-staff doctors or something). The Lilligant I took care of was ill, and it had eggs ready to hatch (another thing that confused me… all Pokémon laid eggs. It seemed seeds would be more appropriate here). A swift recovery was necessary. And while it seemed everything had worked out, I at least wanted to check up on the new family.

As I pressed play, I spotted a Golett waiting at the gate. Knowing it was not native to this part of the park and there was no reason for such a migration, I figured Rex was nearby and ready to go.

"Christina decided not to tell me you were ready until a minute ago." Thanks to the Teleport, I wasn't tired from getting to the gate, but I was probably visibly irritated. Still, it wasn't something I was going to dwell on for too long, and the run was starting soon. "Ready to go?"

"Christina decided not to tell me you were ready until a minute ago. Ready to go?" He asked.

"Sure, whatever." I grumbled, it wasn't as cool as I wanted it to be, but at least it wasn't hot like at Deckbi. There was no way I was going there anytime soon. At least not until winter came along and it was a bit cooler. "We'll just stay on the main path for now, unless you have a certain area in mind that you want to go to?" I said, not waiting for him to respond. I just began walking down the path.

As we walked down the path, I saw many Grass type Pokemon, but none that Siless would like... at least that is what I assumed since he didn't stop for them. The path we took lead into an open field. The field was just a huge path of flowers and some overgrown weeds that should have been cut a long time ago. I saw a couple of Tauros ramming into each other, probably over a Miltank. I was about to ask Siless if he wanted to go over there, but a small Sunkern stood in my way. When I looked back up, the Tauros were gone.

"Well, do you want to battle this Sunkern?" I asked Siless.

A Sunkern blocked the way deeper in. I wasn't too worried about the Tauros in front of us, but I wasn't too interested in the Sunkern either. It was common literally right outside my house, and not only did I not want to use up one of my captures on one, I needed as many as I could here at the park to help out when I'm dealing with herbs and other plants; they not only knew where they were but how to take care of them.

"I'd rather not take the Sunkern away. They're my partners when I need to work out here."

I made sure Sela was following closely behind; sometimes the Pokémon in the park got temperamental when a trainer refused to catch them. I had my reasons, though.

"I'd rather not take the Sunkern away. They're my partners when I need to work out here." He responded.

"Okay," I shrugged. "Whatever. Get out of here Sunkern." The small Sunkern looked up at me and shook his head. He jumped onto Siless' shoulder. It was clear that he didn't want to leave. Either he wanted to battle, or he wanted to just hang out with Siless. I didn't care either way, but he was going to have to decide what he was going to do soon. It probably wanted to stay with him because appearently they worked together. On what exactly, I didn't know.

"Well, it doesn't look like it wants to leave." I grumbled. "You want to buy a doll or something? Or throw it and run?" I was just half kidding about throwing it, but if it didn't leave, it was a suggestion. I didn't actually expect him to throw it. If he did though, it would be hilarious. I just hoped he got rid of it quick so we could move on. I didn't want this to last long.

It was riding on my shoulder. I thought it was rather obvious that the Seed Pokémon wouldn't be attacking me from up here; not only was it very likely it already knew who I was, but it was very vulnerable too. Sela seemed to be of the same opinion, though if the Sunkern had attacked her reflexes alone would force her Psychic powers to launch the Sunkern at least fifty feet away.

I was suddenly thankful that an attack didn't seem likely.

I didn't want to startle the poor thing too much, so I gave it ample chance to either brace itself or jump off so we could go.

"Ready to move on little guy?"

"Ready to move on little guy?" Siless asked the small Seed Pokemon. The Sunkern just shook his head and held on tight to Siless' shirt, refusing to let go.

"What a baby." I mumbled. "Fine, you can come along I guess. So long as Siless' wants you too." Siless just nodded, and I sighed. I just turned around and continued walking. "Let's get out of here before more of those Sunkern follow us." I quickly led them onto another trail that led into a smaller flower bedded area. It was a bit nicer and more secluded, I wasn't sure what kind of Pokemon lived here. I was about to turn us around and leave, when I heard a large THUD behind us. I turned around and saw a small, throny, green weed plant thing sitting there, waving vines at us crazily.

The throns on its vines looked incredibly painful, I quickly backed up to avoid touching them. It must have felt threatened because we were in its home. I didn't blame him, but I didn't like him waving those things at us. I looked over to Siless. "Want to battle this guy?"

    OOC: Male Ferroseed

The Ferroseed seemed to be rather irritated, or maybe just highly protective of its territory. If I wanted to pass it up, I probably needed to knock it out of the way, but I thought it would be useful to have around the gym. Not even using it for battles, necessarily, but it'd be able to greatly aid in the care of underground plants and such. And if I did want to use it, it was essentially a tank of a Pokémon once evolved; it was able to take just about any damage that wasn't burning it and, while it wasn't strong attack-wise, it was able to either make itself strong or use its weight and slow speed to its own advantage.

I had two Pokémon I was able to choose from for the battle. My Roserade, Cosmos, was no doubt powerful, but her strongest attacks were Poison-type moves, which were very useless against a Steel-type Pokémon like Ferrothorn. Thankfully, Sela not only had the Special edge letting her ignore Ferroseed's high physical defensive capabilities and focus on its lower defenses against Special moves, but she had an excellent move for taking it on as well: Hidden Power Fire.

Still there was the slightest chance we could get Ferroseed to join us without battling, and a more-likely chance of it changing from a territorial mood to one that was more "proving itself" once we explained ourselves. At least, that was my experience…

"Sela, try telling Ferroseed why we're here and asking it to come along. If it tries to attack you, use a Future Sight to avoid the attack and wait for my orders." I wasn't daring to think what would happen if the Steel-type attacked me instead. It happened once before, and probably the only reason the attacker survived the resulting counterattack was that it was Dark-type, and it still took a huge blow before Sela could compose herself…

I brought my mind back to the task at hand. Sela nodded, and approached the Ferroseed for discussion. As she did, I turned to the Sunkern on my shoulder.

"Can you help me out little guy? If this Pokémon starts to fight, I need you to warn any Pokémon approaching the area of a battle. Could you do that for me?"

Then turned towards Sunkern. "Can you help me out little guy? If this Pokémon starts to fight, I need you to warn any Pokémon approaching the area of a battle. Could you do that for me?"

Sunkern shook his head and held on tighter. I could tell he was scared for some reason, but I wasn't sure why. Then, he appeared to pull himself together and nod. He jumped off Siless' shoulder and left the area, doing Siless' bidding.

I looked over to Sela, Siless' Gardevoir. I could tell she was beginning to communicate with Ferroseed because that is the way Leo's Mindbender, another Gardevoir, looked when she was communicating with others. I wasn't sure what she said to Ferroseed, but it began to attack. If she asked it to join the team, it wasn't going to without a fight. More than likely, it wanted to see what kind of Trainer Siless was before going with him if he so chose to.

Sela immediately used Future Sight, a move that hit later on in the battle. I wasn't sure if Future Sight allowed them to actually see in the future, but it would be quite useful if it did. Ferrothorn launched several spikes all around Sela. Then, he started shooting small spikes missiles at her. I wondered what she would do to counter this.

The Sunkern ran off to warn the others. That was a major help; Ferroseed was a trapping Pokémon utilizing moves like Spikes to limit mobility and Gyro Ball for powerful blows on immobilized opponents. Sela needed all the mobility she could (though we did have a trick or two up our sleeve), so Pokémon not trying to crowd through the battlefield would make it infinitely easier to fight.

Spikes wasn't exactly the most normal of moves for a Ferroseed to have; it seemed it was more advanced than others of its species. I had to watch for other, potentially powerful moves such as Stealth Rock and Seed Bomb. One move would've messed up my entire strategy that fell in this category; it was entirely possible for a Ferroseed with these moves to also have Gravity, which would severely limit Sela's aerial mobility, and make it more likely for Spikes to actually do something.

It was a simple strategy I had for Sela: get off the ground and stay off of it. Gardevoir's Psychic powers were so strong (and/or they were so light) that they could effectively ignore gravity without so much as a strain on their abilities… at least with normal gravity. If Ferroseed managed to get off a Gravity attack, it would spell the end of that strategy.

Chances were Sela already knew what I was thinking, but she wouldn't go on until the last possible moment or until I gave her a command. And with the threat of a possible Gravity, I needed her going right now.

"Sela, Teleport into the air above Ferroseed and Taunt it. Don't let it knock you out of the air." Another nod from Sela and then a bright blue flash signified she understood, and the plan was already underway.

Gardevoir got hit by Ferroseed's Pin Missile attack. Ferroseed launched about fifteen small missiles and Gardevoir got hit by at least five, the rest were scattered about. It was clear he didn't have full control of the attack just yet, but I was sure with a little training that he would get it.

"Sela, Teleport into the air above Ferroseed and Taunt it. Don't let it knock you out of the air." Gardevoir immediately rose off the ground with her psychic abilities and vanished. When she reappeared, she was levitating over the spikes that were on the ground, which was a pretty smart thing to do. Ferroseed knew he was going to have to find a way to bring her down, I could see it in his eyes.

I wasn't quite sure why Siless would want to taunt Ferroseed while Gardevoir was right above Ferroseed. He could easily knock her down there before she saw what hit her... especially since she was taunting him. That anger alone could be what that small spiked seed Pokemon needed to bring her down.

Gardevoir levitated above him and began making faces at Ferroseed, taunting him any way she knew. Ferroseed, as I had expected, grew angry and began lashing out at her with Power Whip. That, combined with its thorns, had to hurt. Gardevoir was still in the air, but I wasn't sure if she would remain there much longer.

Rex seemed confused, though both Sela and I knew what we were doing. Only one attack was able to knock us out of the air for sure, and with Ferroseed unable to perform anything but offensive moves, the potential for Gravity to hit was absolutely gone. Any other moves that Ferroseed could use to bring down Sela were observable offensive moves that could be avoided or protected against.

Ferroseed sprouted some of its spikes into vines covered in even more of the spikes; its Iron Barbs ability seemed to be more than capable of being used offensively. However, the very ability that gave this Pokémon so much power also enhanced our own capabilities; Sela's ability to Trace those of her opponent had her reactively form spikes of pure psychic energy covering her body. If we needed to get physical with our opponent, this would keep Ferroseed from having the Ability advantage. Still, we were best at indirect combat, and we weren't going to let it get into a physical confrontation unless it was absolutely necessary.

"Sela, get behind Power Whip with your Teleport, and spin Ferroseed around with Psychic!"

Ferroseed were always spinning like tops, but it was still highly unlikely that one wouldn't get dizzy if it wasn't the one spinning itself. If nothing else, any future attacks while it was spinning would be horribly inaccurate, and while it's taunted, it would most likely not be trying anything but those. Of course, it could try to just spray everywhere with a Pin Missile or such, but that wouldn't get enough hits to do any damage more than a mild annoyance.

One more thing came to my mind. Sela knew exactly what the strategy I had planned was, but she refused to act on them until I gave the command or she absolutely had to do something. It kept my stray thoughts from messing up her battling, sure, but at the same time it kept her on the defensive when I wasn't chaining commands together. I had to get our damage potential ready, or else the sheer number of potential attacks, even from a spinning opponent, could possibly overwhelm Sela.

"Sela, ready yourself to launch a Hidden Power at any moment after you start spinning Ferroseed."

And this is how we'll weaken it for capture, I thought to myself. I was pretty sure Sela heard it too; she seemed to react to the certainty of the battle in my thoughts. If I wanted to get something to join my team, I wasn't going to give up easily, and that seemed to push her to fight harder. And it was about time to see how much this would get us through.

I saw Gardevoir begin to fall from the air, but she managed to catch herself as the vines retreated back into Ferroseed. Then I heard Siless call some orders out to his Gardevoir. Hopefully whatever plan he had worked to good. I knew Gardevoir couldn't stay airborn forever, but I knew she was strong enough to do so for a while longer.

"Sela, get behind Power Whip with your Teleport, and spin Ferroseed around with Psychic!" I wasn't sure what exactly that would do since they were spinning already, but I just shrugged and watched to see what exactly he'd do and how this was going to unfold.

After being whipped by Ferroseed, Gardevoir teleported behind him. Her body immediately began glowing a light blue color as her psychic energy connected with the Seed Pokemon. Ferroseed began spinning in a circle, going faster and faster. Suddenly, I saw several roots shoot out of Ferroseeds bottom area and implant themselves into the ground. The Thorn Seed Pokemon stopped spinning and slowly tried to focus on Gardevoir. The Psychic Pokemon then formed several small red orbs and fired them at Ferroseed. That wasn't all it was hit by though. Out of no where, a blast of Psychic energy hit Ferroseed as well. He was still fazed from spinning a bit, but I saw green energy flow into his body, it seemed that the Taunt wore off quickly.

Ferroseed planted roots to stop spinning and began to draw in energy. This forced me to change my strategy completely; Taunt wore off, and the potential, however unlikely, of Gravity was too much of a threat to Sela to let the battle continue. An Ingrained opponent would be constantly gaining health, making this much more difficult, but it gave us a bit of an advantage as well; an Ingrained opponent was immobile. Ferroseed was forced to fight at a range where its natural defenses were incapable of harming us, while Sela was able to use her own natural strengths to her advantage.

I had to find out what I had to do to get Ferroseed ready for a capture. Theoretically, I could have just tossed the ball right then, but Ferroseed was in top fighting condition; if it didn't shoot the ball out of the air and into the caltrop-like Spikes, then it would most likely simply break free, again landing the ball in a mess I would rather not deal with if it were at all possible. I had to start pushing things in my favor if I wanted to get the capture off. Ferroseed was already immobile, and that was a great help, despite the fact that it was Ferroseed being the one to immobilize itself and we, therefore, didn't have much to do with it. However, I had to capitalize on everything I had, regardless of how it came to be. Immobilization made Ferroseed an easy target compared to any other potential opponent, and if I wanted to win with the least amount of damage done, I had to act now.

"Sela, start off with a Hidden Power…"

A single large orange orb or multiple smaller ones; it didn't really matter to me, as both would get the job done. The attack took advantage of Ferroseed's crippling weakness to Fire-type attacks; it would negate the meager amount of health recovery done by Ingrain so far and drop it into low health. Sela could gauge her opponents pretty well thanks to her psychic powers; I trusted she wouldn't hit Ferroseed hard enough to make it faint from the battle.

    "…and follow up with a Hypnosis…"

Rings of drowsiness-inducing psychic energy would form, and hopefully force the Ferroseed into sleep. The attack was normally inaccurate, but with Ferroseed unable to dodge, I was certain that the chances of forcing it to sleep were much higher. A sleeping target was much easier to capture, as it would be unable to put out anywhere near as much of a struggle. Still, I wanted to capitalize my chances so that the battle would end, not just raise them; I needed a backup in case the Hypnosis wasn't enough.

"…then hold it down with a Thunder Wave!"

An electric charge pulsing through the target's body; it wasn't anywhere near strong enough to do damage to it, but it occasionally disabled the target's voluntary muscles in a Paralysis-effect. It didn't supply as much help to the capture attempt as Sleep did, but it would be a great help if Sleep failed to take hold of the Ferroseed, and would be greater still if Sleep did hit; the weak struggles a Pokémon would put up against capture while asleep would be even weaker if Paralysis was gripping it at the time as well.

I drew one of the standard Park Balls from my pack; I didn't have time to dig for a stronger ball, as I had to watch the battle. I was almost certain that a Park Ball would be able to grab it in one or possibly two throws, however, and I had two of them just sitting in the top of my pack. I gripped the ball, waiting for the right moment; the Thunder Wave was too weak to affect the ball, so I would toss it through that to the Ferroseed so that it had minimal time to retaliate. I had to watch and wait…

"Sela, start off with a Hidden Power…and follow up with a Hypnosis, then hold it down with a Thunder Wave!" Siless called out. I thought all this was extremely unecessary. One of those two status conditions would be fine and do the job easily, but he decided to go for both.

Gardevoir immediately began forming the orange-red, golf-ball sized orbs at Ferroseed again. It was a Fire type attack which did four times as much to Ferroseed since Steel and Grass types were each super weak to Fire. This was going to do some good damage. More than likely, enough to allow it to be captured.

Then, after Gardevoir's attack hit, Ferroseed's vines came back out. This time, they were glowing black. He slammed them hard into Gardevoir, which seemed to do a lot of damage. It was Payback. Payback's power doubled when the user got hit moments before the attack was used. This had to hurt her a lot since it was super effective against her. Not as effective as Fire was to Ferroseed, but pretty effective.

Gardevoir then launched out small rings of hypnotic energy. This was known as Hypnosis, and it had a pretty good accuracy rate, so it had a good chance of hitting Ferroseed. As the end of the waves came, I looked over towards the Iron Seed Pokemon, who was still awake. It didn't look like Hypnosis worked. I was pretty sure Gardevoir saw this, because she them immediately sent out a pulse of electrical energy. I saw small sparks coming off of Ferroseed's body, which meant it was paralyzed. I had a feeling this battle was coming to an end.

All the moves hit squarely, though it seemed that Ferroseed resisted the Hypnosis attack. It may have sapped energy from it, but it didn't put it to sleep. It didn't exactly seem like I needed it now, but I had to take the chance when I did; the battle had the potential to turn dangerous, and throwing everything debilitating Sela had at Ferroseed would keep damage down to a minimum. Now, Ferroseed was weak, paralyzed, and possibly a bit drowsy; the situation was far less dire than it was before. The battle was certainly one-sided at this point, and it was the perfect time for a capture attempt. A failed attempt now, I figured, wouldn't be anywhere near as damaging as if Ferroseed was in top fighting condition.

I gripped the camouflaged Park Ball and tossed it to the Steel-type. I wasn't exactly too keen on retrieving said ball from the field of spikes, but that would come later…

Siless seemed confident that his Parkball would capture Ferroseed. I had to agree with his attitude. Ferroseed had already lost a lot of health, and on top of that, he was paralyzed. It was a pretty good time to capture it. Hopefully, he did it fast before Ferroseed had a chance to recover more health from Ingrain or worse, attack.

I knew Ferrothron could use Explosion, but I wasn't sure if Ferroseed could. That would be a shame if it exploded here. Siless then couldn't capture it. However, I didn't think it would do that since the reason it was fighting us was to defend its home. Only idiots would choose to destroy their home to prevent capture. At least that is how I saw it.

Siless then took aim at Ferroseed with a Parkball, the weakest of all the Pokeballs used to capture Pokemon here in the park. It would probably do the job, but my ball of choice was always a Hyperball. More expensive, but always got the job done. I used the other two occasionally, when I felt they would capture with a hundred percent gurantee. The ball Siless threw soared past me and Gardevoir, hitting the Seed Pokemon in the head. A red light shot out and sucked the wild Pokemon in. The ball shook several times as Ferroseed tried hard to break free, but fail to in the end. The ball remained motionless on the floor, signifying that the capture was a success.

I walked over to the ball and picked it up. "Congrats, you caught it." I said. "Let me know when you're ready to leave and go somewhere else."

EDIT OOC: OOPS I FORGOT SOMETHING @Bumblebee . Guess I forgot it last time too.

Ferroseed was caught. It wasn't quite what I expected to get when I had applied for the trip, but it was a great find; it meant I wouldn't have to go searching for one if (or more likely when) I wanted one. It was a tougher battle than I had expected, and Sela seemed winded; I asked her to relax herself and tend to her wounds with a Wish or two, as we had enough time for the delayed healing to take effect before we ran into anything else, and I planned on having Cosmos lead the next battle unless it was severely disadvantageous to her.

I started replaying the Petilil Voice Disk. It brought four more enhanced chances to find one, and I figured that if I did, it would be extremely likely that I would find the Lilligant I treated as well. I had to check on it at some point, and I figured I should probably do it while I was out in the area, and though I could always do it after the run, I thought the sooner I did it, the better.

We turned back from the small enclosed garden and walked back on the trail we were originally on. There wasn't much Pokemon in sight and everything seemed quiet. Siless played his Pokeplayer again. When he pressed the play button on the square device a sound came out, I wasn't quite sure what kind of sound it was. I wasn't even sure what kind of sounds plants made.

I looked around, didn't see any Petlil around the area or responding to his call so I led us farther down the path. I wasn't sure what else Siless was here looking for, but I hoped we'd find something soon. From his file, I knew he was a Grass Gym Leader. Didn't care from which region, but I knew he'd more than likely be looking for other grass types along with Petlil. It wasn't long before another Pokemon came our way.

This one was a Grass type, but looking at his file, he already had a Roserade. He wasn't going to have any need for a Roselia. Though, I could be wrong. I knew Leo and Cameron liked having more than one of certain Pokemon. Leo had many Houndoom and Houndour and Cameron had lots of Rotom, maybe Siless would be the same with this one. The Bouquet Pokemon slowly danced in circles, not taking her eyes off of us. "Well, are you interested in battling this Pokemon?"

A Roselia blocked the way, possibly aiming for a battle. I wasn't particularly interested in having a second Roserade (though I supposed it wouldn't hurt to have one around to help out with gym decorations and maintenance and such), and I didn't particularly feel like going after one at the moment. Still, it couldn't hurt to have it tag along; more friends always helped when one was on the job in the middle of the gardens. Maybe it'd be interested in watching Cosmos battle…

"I don't really want to catch it, but it can tag along if it wants." I had an idea come up as soon as those words left my mouth. I grabbed my Poképlayer, still playing the Petilil cries, and held it closer to the Roselia so it could listen. "Do you know where any Pokémon are that sound like this?"
