"Are you going to take this run or shall I give it to someone else?" Janice, the new desk lady said. She brushed her beautiful red hair to the back.

"Why don't you give it to someone else and come over to my office?" I said with a huge grin on my face. She blushed a little and nodded.

"Let's go." She whispered into my ear as she grabbed my hand and lead me to my office.

"Ohh? Let's!" I said, letting her guide me to my office. She pushed the door open and placed the file on my desk.

"Get your bag and get out of here." She said angrily. "You're not getting lucky today."

"Aww, baby. You're kicking me out?" I joked. "Haha, dollface, it's you who isn't getting lucky, I'll be back though." I winked at her, grabbed my bag and the file and walked out.

"Let's see, who do we have today?" I sighed. Whistling loudly, I opened up the file. "Jonathan Busby. He's going to the Abandoned Power Plant, interesting." I closed the file and tossed out my Pokeball in front of me. A green humanoid shaped Psychic Pokemon stood before me. "Can you teleport me to the Plants?"

"Gar-DE-Voir!" She chanted, as her body began to glow a bright white color. A small white orb expanded from her body, covering us both. Right before we were going to teleport, something slammed into me and knocked me down. I felt my body become light as a feather that was traveling through the wind at a fast speed.

When everything cleared, a large black hellhound stood on my chest licking my face. "Get off me." I laughed. "Why do you always do that?" I looked around and didn't see my Trainer anywhere. "I guess we'll wait for him then."

Buzz smiled as he leant back in his office chair. He had just finished his latest ranger duties, and today was his day off. His first thought was go try it on with Madison, his second was go annoy Ivy, but finally he realised he had signed up to go on a journey through the parks as a trainer.

It was his first time going anywhere in the parks as a trainer, in this case he was looking for a couple of select electric types to boost his team for his, newly acquired, Mauville Gym Leader. The title meant that he was a very busy man, between ranger duties and teleporting to and from the Gym to do battles.

He was confident about his new gym, he had obtained some enlightening experience controlling the electric dojo, before the dojo league closed due to lack of funding. Unfortunately he didn't get that many challengers, lots of people had lost interest in the league, and others tried to challenge when he was rangering.

Buzz got all his trainer supplies ready, pulled his Poké Balls from the drawer. River's ball was empty at the moment, he wasn't even sure where she was. It didn't bother him, she teleported off all the time, she always returned when he needed her. With his bag packed he wandered out of his office door into the main reception.

There was a bustle of activity, and whispers running all around the room. It had been like this for the past couple of days as rumours of new Pokémon appearing in the park. Buzz new the rumours were true of course, the Rangers were informed by the Warden and Boss-Sama that there were new Pokémon all over the park.

Buzz chuckled as he walked up to the main desk, he was about to ask one of the receptionists who his ranger would be, until from the corner of his eye he saw a flash of light. Buzz's head span round and saw the flash of light had come from Leo's office. His question had been answered.

River, whereever you are; I need Teleporting to the Plant. We're going through as trainer,Buzz thought. He knew that whereever she was the mind link between the pair was strong enough, such that she would hear him.

Sure enough, in a flash of pink light the green bird appeared in front of Buzz. River Tam, who in her short time at the Park had gained quite the reputation within the Rangers for always being the one to put Buzz in his place. Sarcastic at all times when dealing with Buzz, although in reality she had quite the calm and serene temperament. She had proven herself quite the useful ally around the park.

"Oh yay, another journey with you! I was having a pleasant time accompanying Ivy, who is over in the Outer Heavens, but no you have to ruin that, don't you. What secretary are you flirting with today?" River muttered in his head.

Now, now, that was a bit uncalled for. Buzz stuck his tongue out at the Xatu. Just Teleport me over to the Plant so we can get going.

In another flash of pink light Buzz was pulled through space and time, which was a curious sensation that took a while to get used to. They appeared in front of an old, worn building. It had a mechanic appearance and definately looked like it need some repair work. The battered walls showed signs of battles long forgotten, once it had supplied power to the whole island. It filled with machinery and electronics that were dying out. It was a haven for electric types who could dispell any excess energy playing with the broken bits of machinery.

Buzz looked around and saw Leo being pounced upon by his Houndoom, Buzz headed over. "Hey, Leo, thanks for taking my run. I've never been through the park as a Trainer before, but i'm sure it will be fine," Buzz said, "it sure is nice to had a day off from rangering."

Buzz took out a small spray bottle from his back pack, there was a toxic label across the bottle. He quickly pulled the trigger and recoiled at the vile odour that was emmitted. He disliked the smell but he would dislike the smell of any oncoming Poison types more so better to repell them now.

"So I'm mostly looking for a Porygon, hence why I have this voice disc. In all honesty though, I want to see some of these new electric types, I have one of them with me. My latest addition, Zebstrika, it has no nickname yet and if I get nothing from this trip hopefully I will have got some experience with my latest Pokémon."

"This place just gets better and better, doesn't it Shadow?"

"Meh, looks the same to me." He shrugged. We had a mindlink thanks to Mindbender. I could understand everything he was saying, and vise versa. We had a pretty strong bond, which wasn't a surprise since Shadow was my starter Pokemon.

"I guess, but coming here is always interesting." I added. I looked up at the sky and the almost perfect weather I had saw earlier was gone. Dark clouds and a small wind had began. On the top of the building I saw an Electivre taking a hit from a thunderbolt from the sky. He was more than likely charging up. "Hmm, this isn't good. We'll have to be careful. Weather like this can only mean one thing." As soon as I said that, Jonathan Busby, or as we knew him, Ranger Buzz, teleported a couple of feet in front of us.

"Hey, Leo, thanks for taking my run. I've never been through the park as a Trainer before, but i'm sure it will be fine," Buzz said, "it sure is nice to had a day off from rangering. I'm mostly looking for a Porygon, hence why I have this voice disc. In all honesty though, I want to see some of these new electric types, I have one of them with me. "Awesome, well, let's see if we can find that Porygon." Leo said. "There might be a couple here today, but they are incredibly shy so keep your eyes peered. Good thing you have that electric Pokemon with you... looks like you'll need it today."

"Haha, yeah but then again Electro here was my starter, the only time he isn't around is when he is off learning a new move at the centre," Buzz replied.

Then a small yellow rodent appeared, Buzz knew from experience that this was a Pichu, Buzz currently owned a Raichu, the evolved form. The electric types wide movepool had served Buzz quite well.

"Ha, look at that," Leo said, "we haven't even started yet and you already have a Pichu coming you're way. Want to battle it?"

Buzz smiled remembering his own Raichu, he had wanted to bring the Raichu with him to the Plant but he was busy learning to fly.

"Nah, I think I'll pass. Can we try to get away? If not I'll just buy a PokéDoll," Buzz said pulling out some money just in case. "I'm also going to activate this Porygon voice disk." Buzz pushed the dice the disk into the player pressing play. A strange electronic noise erupted from the player. "Fingers crossed."

"Nah, I think I'll pass. Can we try to get away? If not I'll just buy a PokéDoll," Buzz said pulling out some money. "I'm also going to activate this Porygon voice disk." When he did, a computer beeping played ranged out of the player. "Fingers crossed." We waited a while, even the Pichu looked around to see if anything would come. "Yeah, maybe you should've waited until we were inside." I joked. Right after I said that, the small rodent jumped up and grabbed Buzz's Pokeplayer. He started to run off, but I caught the little guy before he could go anywhere.

"You know you shouldn't take things." I said to the Pichu, taking the sound maker from his small hands and handing him a small Pokedoll. I gently placed him down and watched him run off with the doll in his mouth. Pichu didn't get far. Just as it was about to turn the corner, it ran into a Elekid, dropping the doll from its mouth. Pichu rubbed its head as it got back up to its feet. The Elekid had sparks coming out from the two rods in his head. I saw the electricity move down to his right arm as he raised to into the air.

"Shadow, protect the Pichu." I quickly said. Shadow jumped into the air, his tail turning into a metallic silver color. He slammed his tail into the oncoming Thunderpunch, which created a small cloud of smoke. Shadow jumped back and waited for the Elekid to emerge. The Elekid glared at Shadow, then looked over towards Buzz and began moving over towards him.

"Wanna battle that Elekid?" I asked, "Because it looks like it wants to battle you."

"Yeah, maybe you should have waited till we were inside," Leo joked.

"Very funny. You know as well as I do it could have teleported," Buzz was saying as the small electric rodent ran off with the PokePlayer. Fortunately Leo got hold of it just in time before distracting it with a Pokedoll. The Pichu however was not so fortunate running into a rather aggresive Elekid.

Shadow, Leo's Houndoom, leapt in front of an oncoming ThunderPunch protecting the Pichu. The Elekid looked interesting in battling me, which Leo confirmed. "Nah I have Electro, my starter we have a good enough bond. I don't need a new Electivire." I prepared my money for a Pokedoll once more just in case it didn't like the idea of me snubbing it.

Retrieving my player from Leo I pressed play again in the hopes it would work this time. I had three uses remaining after this one, so I prayed that one would successfully attract a Porygon.

"Nah I have Electro, my starter we have a good enough bond. I don't need a new Electivire." Buzz explained. He played the Pokeplayer once more. The Elekid grunted and snatched the Pokedoll from the Pichu. It knocked down the small electric rodent and took off. Pichu began to cry, getting louder and louder each second.

"There there little guy, take this doll. It's much better than the other one anyways." I said even though both dolls were exactly the same. Pichu smiled and took the doll. It ran off in the opposite direction from where the Elekid went. "Well, now that that's settled, we wait." The Pokeplayer continued to play, but nothing came our way.

"Let's go inside." I said, opening the door then quickly shutting it. "Better yet, let's go around the corner where that Elekid went. There's a small generator room on the side, Porygon have been know to hang around there." Buzz nodded and I led the way. We walked around the side towards the grey, worn down building. Before we reached the room, two small grey shaped gears floated over towards us from the scrap yard. They gears were fused together.

"Interested in this Pokemon?" I asked.

The PokePlayer failed to work once more and Buzz knew he was down to three uses left. Leo led him inside the plant and around the corner near a small generator where he claimed that Porygon had been known to hang around.

The first Pokémon we encountered within the plant, though not a Porygon, was a new Pokémon that Buzz had never seen before. He pulled out his PokéDex and scanned the metalic gear like object. An electronic voice rang out from the small machine:

Klink;
The Gear Pokémon,
Interlocking two bodies and spinning around generates the energy they need to live.​

Buzz smiled it wasn't an electric type but it was the first new Pokémon he had seen and he decided to let his latest addition have a go at battling. "Ok, Electro, return. Zebstrika, lets see what you can do," Buzz said as he released the black and white zebra into the power plant. "Start things of with a Flame Charge, but as you reach the Klink I want you flood your body with electrical energy as well as fire. Then release that into a Thunder Wave upon contact."

Zebstrika darted off at an amazing speed rushing forward at the small steel type, her body erupted into flames as Flame charge took effect. The move was very popular due to its speed boosting effects. It wasn't a strong attack but that is what Buzz wanted to slowly weaken the Klink.

The Zebstricka was closing in on the Gear like Pokemon, Buzz spotted small bolts of electricity dancing through the flames covering its body, Buzz hoped that this would paralysise the steel type. An unpleasant thing to do but one that would help capture and aid the battle.

"Ok, Electro, return. Zebstrika, lets see what you can do," Buzz said smiling. He tossed a Pokeball and released a black and white zebra. That was one Pokemon that I had rarely seen, more than likely because I've never had plans on owning one. Maybe by seeing this one in battle, I'd change my mind. "Start things of with a Flame Charge, but as you reach the Klink I want you flood your body with electrical energy as well as fire. Then release that into a Thunder Wave upon contact." Buzz called out. The zebra charged at the metal gear an an incredible speed. Not only was it a super effective move, it also raised his speed, even though he wasn't going to need that with this Pokemon since they were known to be slow.

The electric Pokemon quickly bursted into flames as he continued gaining speed. The gear Pokemon tried backing up and moving out of the way, but Zebstrika was just too fast. She slammed into the double gear Pokemon sending small sparks and flames all over Klink's body. I could see that Thunder Wave worked, noticing small electric energy coming off of its body. It then began making a spine-chilling screeching sound which made Zebriska stop in her tracks. Klink took this as an opportunity to attack. It began glowing a bright yellow color as it levitated higher off of the ground. Right when it was above the zebra, it just dropped down and slammed into her. Zebstrika quickly stood back up and readied herself for another attack. Klink's body was full of sparks now and I noticed it didn't move after it slammed into Zebstrika. It was now fully paralyzed.

The Klink began to make a high pitch screech once Zebstricka had unleashed its Flame Charge and Thunder Wave combination. Buzz covered his ears, just so he could hear himself think.

The Klink began to levitate high into the air before plummeting down onto the zebra. Zebstricka quickly recovered ready to attack. Then small sparks appeared to dance all over the two gears that were meshed together. The paralysis had worked, it couldn't move.

"Ok, Zebstricka, I want you to use to begin a Quick Attack aiming to avoid taking any attacks, then as you approach the Klink use Charge. Then release that built up Electrical energy using Shock Wave," Buzz said to his newst team member. They hadn't had much chance to practise together since he bought the Zebstricka at the Mart, but the way things were going so far he could tell it would be a useful member to his team

The black and white Pokémon darted forward at a blistering pace and began to glow as it stored up the energy once more. As it got closer to the metalic gear Pokémon it unleashed a blinding blue beam of electricity aimed at the Klink. Buzz was very concious that he didn't want to over power the small Pokémon.

"Don't over do it, Zebstricka! We need it alive, if we are going to capture it," Buzz yelled out. Buzz quickly reached deep into his bag and pulled out a small capsule, a Park Ball, he wasn't sure if now was the right time. He was also aware that he couldn't spend all day battling a Klink.

A red light erupted from Buzz's hip, the green Xatu fluttered an landed on Buzz's shoulder. "I thought you were only interested in Electric types? Why are you catching a Steel type?" River questioned.

Yeah don't remind me, but would you shut up, and let me get on with this. You just stay quiet for once. Buzz stopped the internal dialogue with the River, he contemplated throwing the ball but decide he should wait.

"Ok, Zebstricka, I want you to use to begin a Quick Attack aiming to avoid taking any attacks, then as you approach the Klink use Charge. Then release that built up Electrical energy using Shock Wave," Buzz called out. The Zebra heard this and darted off at a speed almost to fast to see. Unless you looked closely, all you would see is a black and white blue. Once the Electric Pokemon got close enough to the Gear she unleashed bright blue flash of electrical energy that hit Klink on the right gear.

"Don't over do it, Zebstricka! We need it alive, if we are going to capture it," Buzz yelled out, and he was right. The Park had a policy that forbade Trainers in capturing Pokemon when they were unconscious. When they were captured, they have to be somewhat conscious to be able to break free if they wanted too. I didn't think he'd knock it out though, most Steel type Pokemon had incredible defenses. The Zebra would have to put out a lot of energy for that to happen. Klink still had some fight left in it.

The Zebra lowered its head and nodded. Buzz stuck his hand into his bag and pulled out a Park Ball, one of the weakest balls the park had to offer. I felt it was a bit early, but watched silently as he was about to throw the ball. Before he got to though, his Xato, River Tam came out of her Pokeball. I wasn't sure what she said to Buzz, but he refrained from throwing the ball. Klink then regained movement and charged at Zebstrika. Its body then produced a white electrical glow as it slammed into Zebrstrika. Klink moved back as soon as it hit. Then both gears began rotation, one counter clockwise, the other, counter-clockwise. It flashed dark grey and white several times. Klink had used Shift Gear which rose both speed and attack, I wasn't sure what it was planning since it didn't know many powerful attack moves, but Buzz better watch out.

Buzz watched as Zebstricka zoomed towards the Gear Pokémon; in a flash of brilliant blue light that struck the Gear. It seemed to hurt the gear but it didn't do too much damage which is what Buzz was hoping for, the Klink still had some fight in it.

Buzz wanted to test the Klink to see if it would be a good addition to his team, it was his first experience with the Pokemon so he wasn't entirely sure what moves it could learn.

Suddenly its body began to glow and it slammed into Zebstrika, Buzz recognised this as Return. a simple move but quite powerful. Then the two gears began to rotate, spinning faster and faster until the motion was a blur. Flashes of grey and and white light was all that could be seen.

"What the hell is that move?" Buzz pulled out his Pokédex once more.

"Shift Gear;
A move that boosts the users Attack power as well as raising the user's speed harshly. This is a signature move of the Klink evolution line."​

"Wow, thats an impressive move. Looks like I picked a good Pokémon to try and capture," Buzz said in response to the electronic read out of Shift Gear. "Ok, Zebstrika, Klink is now a lot faster but hopefully you should be able to out speed it still. What I want you to do is take hold of this empty Park Ball in your mouth. Then using a Quick Attack hit Klink and then activate the Park Ball on it. Hopefully it won't have enough time to realise what is going on and evade the Ball."

Zebstrika seemed confused but accepted the instructions, opening her mouth and biting gently on the Park Ball to keep it in place. Once again she set of at a blistering pace running directly at the Gear Pokemon. Buzz wished she timed the Park Ball release properly, Pokémon weren't famed for their control of human technology but this was simple enough.

"What the hell is that move?" Buzz shouted. It wasn't too surprising that he didn't know what move this was since not many Pokémon used it, to my knowledge, Klink and its evolutionary line were the only ones to learn that move. "Wow, that’s an impressive move. Looks like I picked a good Pokémon to try and capture," Buzz added after his Pokedex read the detail on Shift Gear. I had to agree, that was a pretty impressive move. If used in a battle, it could definitely put the user on the winning edge if used correctly.

"Ok, Zebstrika, Klink is now a lot faster but hopefully you should be able to out speed it still. What I want you to do is take hold of this empty Park Ball in your mouth. Then using a Quick Attack hit Klink and then activate the Park Ball on it. Hopefully it won't have enough time to realize what is going on and evade the Ball." He said. He was right; Zebstrika was still faster because Klink was paralyzed. Paralysis made the Pokémon’s speed drop drastically, so even with a bit of speed boost, it wasn’t going to be enough to out speed the zebra. Zebstrika agreed to do what she was asked. Though looking a bit confused, she took the ball in her mouth. Once she had a good grip on it she took off in at the same fast paced speed as before, slamming hard into the Gear Pokémon. Before Klink could return an attack, the Parkball activated and a red light shot out and sucked the Steel-type Pokémon in. The ball didn’t even wiggle twice before I heard the clicking sound.

“Well, what have we here?” I said happily. “Looks like you managed to capture Klink. Do you want to stay here or move to a different location?”

Buzz smiled as Zebstrika executed the manoevre perfectly. The quiet ping as the Klink was successfully captured resonated around the empty Plant corridors. Zebstika strolled back to Buzz spitting out the now Klink filled Park Ball. Buzz quickly gave it a wipe and proceeded to pass it back to Leo; he couldn't just flaunt Park rules 'cause he was a Ranger too.

“Well, what have we here?” Leo said happily. “Looks like you managed to capture Klink. Do you want to stay here or move to a different location?”

Buzz looked around; he had only been in the Abandoned Power Plant once before, as a Ranger, and he hadn't encountered any of the Porygon family on that journey. "I don't really mind, I think you should lead the way to where you think Porygon are most likely to appear. In the meantime though I'm going to activate the next usage of my Voice disk."

Buzz pulled out the PokePlayer from his bag again, pressing the play button the electronic beeping of Porygon echoed out into the plant. Buzz thought about how long it must have taken the Ranger to get this recording for the shop. He thought back to when he had been put on voice disc duty when he had just started out. He had recieved more than a few nasty burns and scratches from the Pokémon over at Mount Deckbi. "Maybe I will be more fortunate now that we are inside the plant," Buzz said to Leo.

Buzz tossed me Klink's Pokeball. It always felt good to see a Trainer capture a Pokemon that interested them. Seeing them leave at the end of the day satisfied with how their small journey here at Park went. It made this job worthwhile. As one of the more experienced rangers, I usually don’t take trainers through. I just pass them on to newer rangers and pile my work with them. Being an elite ranger gave me that privilege, or at least that’s what I told myself.

"I don't really mind, I think you should lead the way to where you think Porygon are most likely to appear. In the meantime though I'm going to activate the next usage of my Voice disk." Buzz said. "Maybe I will be more fortunate now that we are inside the plant," I nodded and pulled out a small scanner. When I came through the park as a trainer a few years ago, I had used this same scanner to find my Porygon-Z. Since Porygon-Z and its evolutionary line were man-made Pokémon; they had some sort of signal they sent out. I wasn’t sure if it was voluntary, but it helped me find my partner.

“Looks like I was right, one appears to be nearby.” I said to Buzz. I walked behind the small room to where my scanner was indicating Porygon was. When we got there, I quickly looked around to see if I could find it, but nothing. “What the… it says it’s right here. This thing can’t be broken.” I placed the scanner in my pocket and looked around once more, more carefully this time. I knew Porygon were quite shy creatures so it was probably hiding. Shadow barked loudly behind me, causing me to jump a little. “Damnit, don’t do that.” I laughed and shoved him.

He lowered his head to the ground and used his teeth to pull open a small handle. I looked down, but could hardly see anything. I pulled two small flash lights and tossed one to Buzz. “Let’s go.” I said, placing the flashlight in my mouth and biting down on it as I climbed down the ladder. I waited for Buzz to come down before we started searching for his Porygon. I didn’t want to lose him down here.

As soon as he was down I pulled out my scanner again. “Looks like it’s this way.” I said, walking onto the left path. A few minutes later, we finally come across the Porygon. As soon as it saw us it darted off. “There it goes.” I waited for Buzz to go in pursuit. “Don’t even have to ask if you want this.”

Just as I said that was hoping I would be more lucky, Leo pulled out a curious electronic scanner out. He began turning around with scanner and looking, suddenly it let out a small bleep. “Looks like I was right, one appears to be nearby,” Leo said.

“What? Really? Awesome, lead the way! Zebstrika return,” Buzz said as a large smile spread across his face. He held out Zebstrika’s Poké Ball and withdrew her. Many other electric leaders praised the rare digital Pokémon. The league organisers allowed it to be used in their due to its electronic nature and its wide variety of electric type moves. Buzz wasn’t certain it made perfect sense, but it did make a whole lot more sense than what the League Organisers considered acceptable for Dragon type gyms.

Buzz happily followed Leo to where he thought the Porygon was, according to his scanner. We entered a small room lined with small computer desks and office cubicles. Buzz looked around hoping to see his prey. He had been waiting for this day since he got the Mauville Gym job. He had begun planning this trip, and preparing all the Pokémon he would need.

Thundera, Buzz’s Raichu falling ill and needing to go into Daycare was not pleasant, but he couldn’t pass up the opportunity. Boss-Sama was very strict about the time off rangers got. He wasn’t particularly happy about us having gyms but most of the rangers now had them. Even Ivy, one of the other rangers, Buzz enjoyed mocking, was applying for a gym in the far off Unova region. Buzz wasn’t sure how she would make it there to defend but that wasn’t his concern.

Buzz couldn’t actually see the digital Pokémon anywhere within the room. “What the… it says it’s right here. This thing can’t be broken,” Leo announced sliding the scanner into his pocket. A hush fell as the pair looked around the small room then Shadow barked loudly. Leo and Buzz both leapt into the air.

Leo laughed and playfully shoved the Dark type. The Houndoom simply lowered its head to the ground and grabbed a small handle on the floor. Leo pulled out a couple of flash lights throwing on over to me. The bright light flickered to life as pushed the power button. Aiming my torch at the floor I found what Shadow had opened. A small trap door with an old ladder attatched. Buzz assumed this lead down to a maintenance shaft for some cabling from the plant. Though long since abandoned many wires still ran live due to the many electric types playing around.

I hit the floor of a narrow corridor, Leo had his scanner out once more and was looking up ahead. “Looks like it’s this way,” he said. A few minutes walking down the dusty corridor we came across our target. A curious creature, the first electronically created Pokémon. Its angular body reflecting what little light was down here.

My smile faded when it saw us, it darted away. “There it goes, don’t even have to ask if you want this,” Leo said waiting for me to give chase.

“Ha ha, nah I think I’ll leave it,” I joked, “especially after spending all that money on this voice disk.” With that I gave chase to the small virtual Pokémon. I pulled my bag around as I jogged after it picking up a small spray bottle this time labelled: Calming Fragrance. “Hopefully this will stop it fleeing from us so I can actually battle it,” I said to Leo who was following not far behind. Pulling the trigger it emitted a pleasant aroma into the air. It reminded Buzz of the Gardens.

River, I want you to be ready to battle, Buzz pulled out her ball and released her into the corridor. Before coming to the park he didn’t think River would actually battle much, but given how the Porygon family was prone to boosting their stats before going on a devastating offensive he decided this was a good match. I want you to start the battle off using Calm Mind, then if it charges at you I want you to use Teleport to dodge, but as you do release your ThunderWave attack, hopefully the burst of energy linked with teleportation will guarantee a hit.

“You know, one of these days I think you should battle the wild Pokémon. Don’t you get tired of having me and the rest of the team do your dirty work?” River replied telepathically.

You know, one of these days I think you should learn to be a less sarcastic Pokémon and just do what I ask.The rest of the team don't seem to mind me as their trainer. Also if it uses a long range electric attack I want you to set up a Light Screen, that should weaken a lot of the damage from any special attacks.

“Well I could do that but honestly, where is the fun in that? And as far as the rest of the team goes; you can't hear what they think!"

Buzz gave an exasperated look towards his green, feathered friends as they still chased after the shy Porygon. Buzz secretely hoped that when he finally got to battle the Pokémon it would prove itself to be a tough challenger, just like how Klink had.

Buzz kept trying to think of possible attacks the Porygon might use and various ways he could counter them and use them to his advantage. He knew River couldn't stay out in battle against a Porygon for long. Their family had access to such a wide variety of electric moves and River had no moves that would be particularly effective on the wild Pokémon.

Buzz planned to bring Electro out at somepoint, he was still at full health, and his ability would nullify all electric attacks from the curious Pokémon.

“Ha ha, nah I think I’ll leave it,” he mocked, “especially after spending all that money on this voice disk.”

“Haha, be my guest.” I said. Buzz took off after the Porygon. He reached into his bag and pulled out a small vile with a spray nozzle. Judging by the green color of the bottle, I was guessed that it was the Calming Fragrance or the Calming Fragrance Plus. Either way, it was hopefully going to relax the small man-made Pokémon and slow it down. Fortunately for him, Porygon took a hit from the smell and slowed down. I wasn’t sure how it smelt the fragrance with it having no nose, but it did. Buzz pulled out River Tam’s Pokéball and released her. I could tell he was talking to her telepathically because of the expressions on his face. Mindbender and I communicated the same way. I wasn’t sure what they were saying to each other, but I hoped they did something fast before the fragrance wore off and it took off again.

The Virtual Pokémon didn’t waste any time. It’s body was quickly surrounded by silver static energy that flashed several times as it charged the attack. River noticed this and began relaxing her body as she quickly tried to up her defenses. That was a smart thing to do when battling a Porygon since they’re known to have high special attacks. I looked back over to the Porygon whose body was now engulfed in a rainbow colored aura. I could see the energy being channeled through its body towards its beak-like mouth where it formed a small ball. Once the ball grew to a decent enough size, Porygon thrusted its body forward, sending the beam towards River who was still upping her defenses. She saw it coming and began to teleport. She just got scraped by the attack, but managed to teleport away, sending of a pulse of electrical energy.

Thanks to her defenses being raised, the attack didn’t seem to do much. The Porygon however, was hit by the Thunder Wave that River swiftly launched. I could hear the Porygon make several clicking and beeping sounds as a green beam shot out and quickly scanned the area. The beeping sounds were more than likely the Porygon computing the data and finding a way to hit the teleporting bird. After several seconds of making those sounds, I finally heard a loud beep and saw the Porygon begin charging up an electrical attack. Judging by the way it was glowing, I knew it was going to Discharge all over the room.

I moved back out of the way, sitting down near the corner of the room. Shadow sat down next to me, resting his head on my lap. “Watch it or it’ll Discharge all over you.”

River Tam became surround in pale aura as she began her Calm Mind technique, known for its useful ability to raise their special based offensive and defensive powers. It was an essential move for River to use in battle. The wild Porygon also surrounded itself in an aura, but this was a dazzling rainbow effect, the colours shimmered in the dimly lit corridor of the plant. The rainbow beam was then fired at River, who spotted the attack and reacted just as Buzz had hoped. Teleporting just in time and unleashing a wave of electrical energy.

The Porygon was struck by the energy as River appeared behind him, the electrical energy danced over the unique Pokémon. Buzz knew that this paralysis would come in handy later; it could lead to the wild Porygon being unable to move. The main two benefits though are that its speed is cut dramatically and it often makes the wild Pokémon easier to capture.

The wild Pokémon began to scan the room using a bright green beam. Beeping and clicking noises could be heard coming from the digital creation as it tried to figure out a way to attack River. She fluttered just above the ground defiantly meanwhile Porygon began to charge up an electric attack. Buzz as afraid of this, it was River’s weaknesses and new this could happen.

“Watch it or it’ll Discharge all over you,” Leo called. Buzz chuckled and looked over briefly and saw Leo sitting down with Shadow resting on his lap.

Okay, River, let’s set up a Protect to prevent that Discharge affecting you, or at least most of it, then I want you to use Light Screen but rather than a simple barrier I want you to use your psychic abilities to warp it so it forms a body shield around your entire body. That should nullify any future special based attacks, Buzz thought, instructing River through their telepathic link seemed sensible. It would give them the edge since there was no way Porygon might be able to understand the directions and change tactics.

”You know I have battled before, I do know what do to,” River retorted.

Yeah well, you are my Pokémon, deal with it. Buzz was contemplating his next move he knew he would need to go on the offensive if he was going to get the Porygon weak enough to capture. Buzz knew River had no Super effective moves against the normal type Porygon, this didn’t worry him though, he knew she had lots of moves in her arsenal. Rumour had it she actually knew more moves than any other Xatu.

River began to use Protect, she quickly swept her wings and a green aura of energy surrounded her body. The green energy grew in size until it formed a large impenetrable bubble around her. Once the bubble was a nice size, Buzz watched as formed the Light Screen. This created an energy barrier in front of the user that severely weakened any oncoming special based attacks. The pink barrier was hovering just inside the protective shield. The energy shimmered as the barrier began to deform, the energy field clung to the Xatu’s body.

Great that’s your defences sorted, now we need to start attacking or else we will never catch it, Buzz thought.

”You don’t say!”

Can you just, not be sarcastic for once? Buzz replied. Right then, l think if we start off with a simple Psychic attack, we should be able to gauge how strong its defences. I want to make sure its suitable for our team. Buzz was sure that it would be the perfect thing for his team, all the other electric leaders used them so effectively, though he knew he couldn’t forget about his other Pokémon. Raichu who was currently in day-care still not feeling great crossed his mind; he still felt bad for leaving him behind, but he knew he couldn’t miss out on this opportunity.

It had really paid off for him as well. He had only encountered a couple of Pokémon and already caught one, he hoped the rest of this trip would be as successful as the start, firstly catching this Porygon would be awesome.

Commencing...

Buzz and River continued communicating telepathically which left me on edge. I had to wait and see what was going to happen instead of knowing ahead of time like I was used to. I watched carefully for any movements from River or the Porygon. I wasn’t sure which would move first. It was like a standoff, they were waiting for just the right moment to strike. River was watching the Porygon, and the Porygon continued to charge its Discharge attack which was hard for it since it was paralyzed.

Finally after several moments of waiting, River made her move. She threw up a small clear shield of energy that quickly turned green and the energy surrounded her body. It sort of gave her armor, or at least that’s how the move looked. Judging by that, I knew it was either Reflect or Light Screen and since they were battling a special attacker, it had to be Light Screen. River then began glowing a dark purple color as she tried to connect her mind with the Porygon’s to deal major damage. I heard the Porygon cry in pain as it tried to fight off River’s psychic power. After several long moments, if finally broke free by releasing its Discharge attack all over the room.

Shadow quickly got up and stood between Buzz and I and threw up a shield that was big enough to protect the three of us. I could see the electrical energy trying to penetrate through, but Shadow was way too powerful to let it even come close, you could tell because of the size of his shield. Most Pokémon couldn’t dish one out that size. When the Discharge was over, I looked over to the Porygon who was struggling to stay afloat. This was a perfect chance to attack it. Porygon shot out a red beam of light that hit River. Porygon made several beeping sounds as it took aim. I knew what was coming, I just hoped I was wrong.

Buzz watched as the psychic energy passed from the Light Screen coated River to the wild Porygon. The small data Pokémon let out a small cry as the Psychic attack took effect. The bleeping echoed across the hall as it shrieked in pain. Psychic seemed to have done a fair bit of damage.

Then the Porygon broke free from its paralysis and released a huge burst of electricity. The violent yellow flooded the corridor with light. Shadow immediately burst from its seat throwing up a Protective shield infront itself. Leo and I were also behind the Protect. The electrical energy bounced off the bubble and connected with the ground harmlessly.

"Haha; thanks, Shadow, but I wouldn't worry about it, I've had enough electrical shocks working at Mauville Gym that im pretty resistant to them now. Mostly due to specialist rubber lining I had built in to my clothes. I got so sick of random miss fires," Buzz informed the Houndoom and Leo.

Meanwhile River was hit full force by the electrical Discharge, not a good thing given that Flying types were very susceptible to electrical damage. Buzz knew that with the special defense boost from the earlier Calm Mind and the Light Screen nullifying a lot of the damage, River would be fine to battle some more. I still had some tricks up my sleeve.

The Porygon appeared to be struggling to stay aloft, Buzz knew now was a good time to strike. Then a red beam was fired from Porygon. It fromed a laser point between the two Pokémon. No matter how River moved the red dot remained upon her.

Lock On, looks like we will have to be tricky here if I am right in thinking it is about to use Tri-Attack. You still have your Light Screen set up as armour but as it fires its attack I want you to manipulate the energy into a satelite dish shape then close the dish around the oncoming attack. That should give you enough time to Teleport out and behind the Porygon. Buzz was hoping the Light Screen would repel some of the attack and slow its progression down.

Buzz sure didn't want River to take the full force of that Tri-Attack. The Porygon family were well known for their use of this attack. Not only did it pack a powerful hit, its secondary effects could rip a teams tactic in half. Buzz especially didn't want River to get Frozen, that would put an end to her part in this battle.

Buzz hoped he was right about this attack. But then realised the Porygon could be ensuring a hit with Thunder. This immensely powerful electric attack would also be a major problem for River. River, if it looks like it is using Thunder, you should use the same tactic of morphing your light screen but alter it such that you imbibe it with the metalic energy of Steel Wing and create a Lightningrod and divert the Thunder attack harmelessly into the ground.

If Thunder was the attack River would form her Light screen into a long pole then using the same energy she would apply to Steel wing to form the metal coating around the Light Screen she could create a make-shift Lightningrod.

"Wow, that is actually kind of intelligent, I'm sort of impressed," River muttered back after hearing Buzz's second command.

"Then I want you to combine your Teleport with a Psychic attack once more, as the old saying goes if it ain't broke," Buzz said to his friend. Psychic was easily River's most powerful attack. She had many moves in her arsenal but Psychic was a reliable fallback should all else fail. It suited her nature, she never liked being up close and personal when attack and her Telepathic abilities allowed her to injure the opponent from afar.

River would delve into her opponents mind and bring up all of their worst nightmares and dreams. Buzz wasn't entirely sure whether Porygons had dreams or nightmares, but the attack seemed to work last time so he decided to ignore that particular philosophical question.

Meanwhile Buzz was rolling his hand over his collection of Park Balls in his side bag, he knew the time to attempt was approaching, but he had to wait. He needed to make sure. It always disappointed him that River had no Hypnosis or Sleep inducing attack. Though the paralysis would help with the capture, anything extra would just ensure that Porygon didn't escape. He knew he would have to try and improvise something.
