"Haha; thanks, Shadow, but I wouldn't worry about it, I've had enough electrical shocks working at Mauville Gym that im pretty resistant to them now. Mostly due to specialist rubber lining I had built in to my clothes. I got so sick of random miss fires," Buzz informed us. I just nodded. I knew he’d had worked at the gym for some time now. So far he managed to do both Ranger and his gym without a problem. I had a trainee take care of my gym while I was gone. Of course I made sure he was up to par for it.

The red line of energy locked on to River’s body despite how hard she tried to get rid of it. When they finally realized that it was impossible to lose the Lock-On, they began to strategize, or at least that was the way it seemed. I noticed that River had a silver metallic glow on her. Somehow, she was combining that energy with the energy from her Light Screen. I looked over to the Porygon who had been charging an electrical attack. Porygon didn’t wait for it to fully charge, it fired it at River within seconds of creating it. It wasn’t as powerful as it should have been, but it sure would do a bit of damage.

The Thunderbolt connected with River and her rods of silver energy. It didn’t appear to do much, if any damage to her which didn’t come to me as a surprise since they were pretty experienced. Porygon looked tired, it was now moving very slowly. Its paralysis was kicking in again; perhaps it would be an advantage to Buzz. That was when River teleported behind Porygon, connecting their minds again to deliver a psychic shock to the man-made Pokémon. It cringed in pain as the Psychic attack drained more of its energy.

Buzz watched on as the virtual Pokémon charged its electrical attack. It seemed to release it very quickly and it didn't look like it was fully charged. Buzz assumed that the paralysis was slowing it down. River meanwhile was executing her makeshift Lightning rod technique perfectly. The metallic glow of her wings shimmered in the faint light of the power plant corridor. Its flickering lights were a constant reminder of the degradation of the Power Plant.

It was once a magnificent Power Plant that supplied the entire park with energy, there are underground cables running to each of the outposts. Buzz assumed they were still there, even though the environmental nuts had complained that it was wasteful to use fossil fuels as a power supply and that much electricity being sent underground would be a risk to the Pokémon, the cost of unearthing all that cabling was too much for the underfunded park. Rangers didn't get paid much as it was.

After the switch to Electric Pokémon power, the plant was left defunct. Jobs were lost and the plant fell into ruins, but at least the wild Electric Pokémon who were already drawn to the electrical energy at the plant had a place to stay within the park. It was better than keeping them in an enclosure near the lakes. Buzz had been reading the archives and the number of zapped Magikarp was very high.

Now the grey walls were tattered, scratched and scorched. Memories of past battles etched out their records on them. The plant was a common place for trainers, a lot more so than the often forgotten Outer Heavens. Buzz had yet to take a trainer round the Outer Heavens; he couldn't wait to see their expression when they saw his flying Raichu. That technique took a long time to master for Raichu alone, not to mention with passengers. The nurses were very confused when I arrived in the emergency room with broken legs and reports of a flying orange thing came in.

Eventually though, the pair managed to successfully fly, it was a very strange experience for the first time. Suddenly, a great idea for a prank on Ivy crept into Buzz’s head, he wondered if she knew his Raichu could fly.

Just as Buzz was thinking of Raichu, a loud ringing noise came from his bag. "What? I asked people not to call while I'm on a journey." Buzz sighed and pulled out his phone to examine the caller ID. It was the Daycare centre. "Hello?" Buzz said as he answered his phone, immediately his mind jumped to the worst conclusion, Raichu was in a more critical condition than he considered when dropping him off. Guilt pressed on his heart as he considered his leisurely journey.

"Hi, Jonathan Busby, my name is Nurse Audino. I'm calling about your Raichu," the female voice said. Buzz thought her voice sounded choked.

Probably a fatty, Buzz thought chuckling to himself. "Is he ok?"

"Yes, he has made a full recovery. Curiously, your Raichu in its time here has learnt a dramatic number of new moves. It was watching a Roserade performing its Petal Dance technique in the garden then next thing we know it was prancing around and a torrent of pink petals were spinning around it. At the current count it’s learned an extra five moves since you left it here," the nurse said.

Buzz just laughed as his guilt vanished replaced by sheer amusement. "Yeah that sounds about right, well thanks for letting me know. I should be available to pick him up shortly." Buzz pressed the call end button on his mobile. After slotting it back into his bag, he smiled as his eyes darted back to the battlefield. So, Thundera is doing great, River.

"That's awesome, but two things: first of all I heard since when you hear stuff, you have the annoying habit of relaying it in your mind. Seriously do you just love the sound of your own voice? Secondly I'm kind of busy," River replied.

Buzz watched the last of the electricity dance down the lightning rod and into the ground. River didn't seem to have taken too much damage from the attack; Buzz would have to remember that tactic for another time.

In a brilliant flash of pink energy the fluttering Xatu had vanished, reappearing behind the pink and blue Porygon. Once more it cringed in pain as the Psychic attack took effect. Buzz smiled, River's psychic prowess was always useful to have around. Buzz had considered letting her take a break given her weakness to electricity, but decided that it was worth having the extra company.

The Porygon's fatigue appeared to be showing now, between the mental beating it had taken from those powerful Psychic attacks and its physical strain under the paralysis. It was struggling to even move and Buzz was certain any attacks it put forth wouldn't be strong enough to do any severe damage. He also knew this wasn't the time to get complacent. A wrong move could still end up with it fleeing or even being knocked out. Neither of which, naturally, were particularly good when trying to capture a wild Pokémon.

Great job, River, I think we are approaching the time to attempt a capture. Buzz pulled out a small green ball from his bag. The Park Ball, the simplest capture device the National Park sold. It only worked on basic level Pokémon. Unlike the more advanced Super Ball and Hyper Ball, the Park Ball contained no programming written to decrease the likelihood of a failed capture.

Buzz liked this, it added to the satisfaction of hearing the ping of a successful capture. The knowledge that the wild Pokémon accepted you as a trainer based on your battling skill, or in certain cases your friendliness, alone with no technological backing. Unfortunately it only worked on un-evolved Pokémon. Buzz assumed this was because, should a Pokémon evolve in the wild, that would imply it has developed a certain level of skill in surviving and excelling in its environment. The rise in maturity that occurred during evolution also probably played a role.

“When you have finished musing on the mysteries of Pokémon evolution and capture, would you like to actually do something? River muttered impatiently.

“All right then, River I want you to whip up a Tailwind as you fly in really quickly and hit it with a Peck attack, just so its health is dropped to secure capture. Once you strike the Porygon, I want you to use your boosted speed and land into a Roost, as quickly as possible. This has been a long hard battle and we still have plenty of Pokémon to meet through the plant. Roosting should recover your energy as well as reducing any electrical damage, since your lightning rod will be fading soon.”

Buzz was waiting for River to land to throw his Park Ball. He considered his options and when the time was right he took aim at the struggling digital Pokémon, and threw the green ball. It arced through corridor, Buzz hoped his aim was true enough to hit the Pokémon. He had been searching for this Pokémon for sometime, he didn't want to lose his chance.

The Parkball Buzz threw soared through the air, completely missing the Porygon by a long shot. "What the fuck kind of throw was that Buzz. You throw like a woman, get back in the kitchen." As I said that, the ball unexpectedly hit the wall and rolled towards the Porygon. River saw Buzz's horrible throw and shook her head. She launched herself at the technology advanced Pokemon. Her beak grew larger as she began pecking at the Poryon who slowly backed up into the Parkball.

The man-made Pokemon's left foot hit the center button on the Parkball and a red light shot out and sucked it in. The ball shook several times before finally coming to a stop. "Damn, you're lucky River backed it into that ball." I said, picking up the newly caught Porygon. "I'll hold onto this as well for safe keepins." I stated, even though he already knew that. Mindbender shot out of her Pokeball and began healing the Porygon back to health. "Well, we're shall we go now?"

Buzz watched as the park ball soared over the Porygon. His eyes widened rapidly thinking he had failled. River shook her head and took of flying directly at the Porygon, pecking as she went. Soon the Porygon was backed right up against the Poké Ball.

"What the fuck kind of throw was that Buzz. You throw like a woman, get back in the kitchen," Leo called out, Buzz had no response and only chuckled nervously.

With a click, followed by a blinding red light the Porygon was sucked into the ball. Buzz smiled as the capture was succesful.

"You see it was all intentional," Buzz lied.

Damn, you're lucky River backed it into that ball," Leo said, picking up the newly caught Porygon. "I'll hold onto this as well for safe keepins. Well, where shall we go now?"

Buzz looked around and shrugged. "Well I got what I came for specifically, now just go for a wander and see what appears. Lead the way," Buzz said to Leo happily.

"Well I got what I came for specifically, now just go for a wander and see what appears. Lead the way," Buzz said. I let out a big sigh.

"Fine, let's go." I said. I reached into my bag and pulled out a sandwich. I wasn't expecting this trip to take that long. As a matter a fact, I predicted I was going to be out in about thirty minutes, but it didn't look that way now.

"Let's go down this way." I said, mouth half full and sounding a bit more angry that I intended too. I just tried to enjoy my sandwich. We were about to climb up the hole when I heard a familiar sound. I moved down the hall and heard several beeping sounds along with the flow of electricity. I took another bite of my sandwich and motioned for Buzz to follow me towards the location of the sound.

We entered a small room that was directly under the main control room of the Power Plant. I could tell because the a sign said 'main control room above'. Near the corner of the room I noticed a small pink and blue duck looking Pokemon. It was of the same family group as Porygon.

"Want to battle that?" I asked Buzz, a little bit unsure because he had just captured Porygon.

Buzz watched as Leo pulled a sandwich and started munching it and spluttered something while pointing down the corridor. Buzz didn't say anything, just followed after calling River back.

"River uses Roost and land on my shoulder so you can recover your health while we walk." River obliged landing easily on Buzz's shoulder. She wasn't a heavy bird so Buzz managed quite easily, plus it gave River the opportunity to peck him easily when he got too sarcastic.

They entered into a small room just below the main control room, Leo pointed out a small, pink and blue duck like Pokémon. It was a Porygon2, the evolved form of Porygon. Buzz was tempted at first realising it would be good for trade purposes, but in the end decided against it.

"Nah, I'll just take a picture for Boss-Sama. He likes the photos of rare Pokémon. I just hope he isn't doing anything strange with them," Buzz said as he pulled out his camera and quickly clicked the shutter release.

"Nah, I'll just take a picture for Boss-Sama. He likes the photos of rare Pokémon. I just hope he isn't doing anything strange with them," Buzz said. I couldn't help but to laugh. Now that he mentioned it, I didn't remember seeing any of the photos Trainer's took in his office, and I had been in there quite often taking his stuff. I just shrugged as the light from his camera blinded me momentarily.

When the flash cleared, the Porygon2 was gone. I looked around for where to go next. I figured I'd be best to finally get out of here. We climbed up the ladder and were back outside. I looked up into the sky and noticed it was completely black in this area. The thunder was booming loud and the lightning was nearly touching the ground. I knew it was best to go inside, but I knew something was coming.

From the South, I heard a loud screeching sound. Turning quickly, I saw a large, yellow and black spiked bird flying towards us. It was Zapdos, the Legendary Bird Pokemon and it was flying at us. I wasn't sure if it was angry or not, I just hoped it wasn't looking for a battle.

Buzz watched as the Porygon2 vanished after the camera shot. The wild Pokémon were never too keen on the photographs. The flash always made them flee, but the money was worth it. Two runs and the camera would often have paid for itself in photos.

Buzz turned to hear a familiar call. The last time he had been out to the Abandoned Plant was with Chainy's brother, Jathan. They had encountered a wounded Zapdos. Buzz smiled as he remembered healing it up. Looking back at this Zapdos, he simply turned his camera round again and clicked.

Buzz snapped a photo of the flying electrical beast. I thought that it was going to be mad, but I remembered that Zados liked having its picture taken unlike Articuno. Buzz was lucky because Articuno would have frozen him on the spot. Zapdos posed a little, then tucked in its wings. I could see it charging up electrical energy. I hoped it wasn't going to fire it at us, if it did, we'd be in some trouble. Zapdos then let out a cry and sent many bolts of electricity towards the ground.

I saw two Electivire with their feelers raised in the air. They absorbed all the energy. It was like they were getting powered up. Then they looked over towards us. I hoped they didn't want to battle, but by the looks of it, I knew they would. They just got a charge and were full of energy, of course they wanted to battle.

"Watch out," I said, "We got trouble."

Buzz watched as the Zapdos unleashed a furious stream of lightning bolts down to the ground. His eyes drifted down following the bright light. The beams of energy appeared to connect to four cord like tails. Two identical Electivire's were stood absorbing the electrical energy. Buzz knew from experience that Electivires could absorb a lot of energy and their speed was usually enhanced by their main ability Motor Drive.

Buzz was tempted to test out his own Electivire's strength against the pair, but he thought it would be better if he could keep them at full health. "Well I guess I get even more money from these photos today, two Electivire photos, a Porygon2 photo and a picture of the legendary Zapdos," Buzz said as he aimed the camera at the first Electivire clicking the shutter release, he caught a remarkable shot. Electivire surrounded by the glowing electrical currents as it absorbed the energy.

Turning slightly he looked at the second Electivire, "I can get a picture of this one too, right?" Buzz asked taking a photo regardless. The camera flashed once more capturing the other Electivire. Buzz looked at his belt and thought of his starter Pokémon, Electro. His very own Electivire, obtained when Professor Rowan was out of the usual starters.

"Electro, come on out." Buzz released the clip holding Electro's ball and in a beam of red energy another Electivire graced the field. It'll be nice for Electro to get a walk around the park, it has been a while since we hung out, Buzz thought. "Well, Leo, where next?"

The picture Buzz took of both the Electivire appeared to stun them. For some reason they didn't look like they wanted to battle anymore. They ran off, discharging electricity into the sky. I couldn't see Zapdos anymore and the skies were clearing up. I figured it was time to go inside the Plant, perhaps something more interesting would show up.

As we headed back to the entrance, I heard a loud roar coming from the top of a nearby hill. On top I saw a Manectric staring down at us. It looked at us for about ten seconds then ran off. An Elektrike came running down the hill from where the Manectric was standing.

"Want to battle this Electrike?" I asked Buzz.

Buzz watched as the two Electivires wandered off into the distance discharging the electricity absorbed by the Zapdos. There was a roar from a nearby mound, atop stood a blue and yellow Dog like Pokémon. Manectric. Another member of Buzz's rental Pokémon, but a small green dog ran over towards the group.

An Electrike, Buzz did want one but he had another means of getting one on the mainland and was currently working on it. Buzz sighed, he had a feeling that there wouldn't be a Rotom around the corner. "You know what, Leo? I think we will call it a day, I have work to do back at HQ, thanks for guiding me round though," Buzz announced to Leo.
