Argent handed me some cash, which I quickly took. It was to buy a Pokedoll to throw at Spoink. I pocketed the cash with intentions of keeping it for myself, but then decided against it, I already had enough money. Argent threw the doll at Spoink, hitting him in the head, which caused him to accidently knock the little guy down. Because he lost his balance, the pearl on his head came rolling off. Spoink had a sad face on as he looked at Argent like he was a monster, and then he grabbed his pearl and hopped away.

"Wow, rude." I said. I knew it was an accident, but he hurt the little guys feelings. Not only that, but I heard somewhere that a Spoink couldn't be without its pearl for too long or else they died. I was glad that little guy had his pearl in sight.

"Let's move on then." I said once the Spoink was out of sight. Argent nodded and began following me again. Not long after, a Gengar showed up. It licked Argent in the face, sending shivers down his spine. I couldn't help but to laugh. "Want to battle Gengar?" I asked, still laughing.

OOC: In the case of tl;dr, which I most certainly expect of you, seeing as this post is about 20k [23,190 to be exact] or so, I'm using three moves: Thunder Wave, Calm Mind and Extrasensory. kthx.

As Argent was handed the Pokédoll, he examined it closely - it was a miniature Clefairy. Argent had a Clefable currently in his possession called Cassidy, and it was one of his most trustworthy Pokémon. The Pokédoll resembled exactly how Cassidy used to look before she evolved into Clefable. She was a light pink Pokémon with a mouth that was great for smiling with - Cassidy was always a picturesque kind of Pokémon, and certainly very cute. It had a single, giant lock of pink hair that twirled gracefully down the front of its face, but did not get in the way of its eyes or anything like that. Furthermore, it had two angular 'horns' as such which protruded from the side of its head, but not as far out as its evolution Clefable's. Around each horn was a hard, chocolatey-brown surface that seemed to be quite good-looking and it suited their appearance quite well than if they had completely pink horns - a monocolour Pokémon never really looked that great. It had two narrow, black eyes, with the exact same wrinkles to the side of each that you'd see on any Clefable's face.

Underneath these lines were two deeper pink-coloured cheek pouch-like things, almost like the circular red ones you'd see on a Pikachu, only these were oval-shaped and, as mentioned previously, pink. It had gleaming white teeth - the Pokédoll's mouth was open - and a cute pink inside to the mouth. It was a very plump and round Pokédoll, as far as Argent could see, but he knew that in reality, Clefairy were not so plump. It had two arms and two hands, each hand having two white claws and a soft thumb, giving them three digits each. On their feet, however, were just one white claw-like thing each. Clefairy and its evolution, Clefable, were very powerful Pokémon once you got down into their unique battling style. Argent found them to be very versatile as they could learn many moves - no-one knew what technique you could run with your Clefairy or Clefable, and that was what made them so dangerous. Argent's own had learned a lot of moves, but they were based more on special attacks instead of physical attacks for the time being - Argent knew that Cassidy's special attack was higher than her attack, so he was playing to her strengths.

Argent tensed his muscles quickly to prepare himself to throw the Pokédoll, but found that the muscles in his arm spasmed and he had hurled the Pokédoll at full speed towards the Spoink's face. The Spoink tried to react but found he couldn't react fast enough, and Argent gasped as he saw that he had knocked the Spoink's pearl out from the top of its head, and it gasped too. Argent apologised profusely, but the Spoink gathered up its pearl and placed it back on its head, and also scooped up the Pokédoll and bounced away with it, looking angrily at Argent for treating him like that. Argent was well aware of the risks that came into the realms of possibility when a Spoink lost its pearl - Argent had rescued a Spoink from near-death because it had lost its pearl before, so he was shocked out of his skull when he knocked off the pale pink orb.

The bouncing of a Spoink serves a far more vital function in that it keeps its heart beating; if it's stopped from bouncing, it'll go into cardiac arrest and die. It also wears a pearl produced by a Clamperl on top of its head to amplify its psychic powers. However, if it loses the pearl, it begins to weaken, so Spoink is in constant danger from either ceasing to bounce or losing its pearl. The pearl on Spoink's head magnifies its psychic powers. It is able to constantly bounce, even while sleeping, which is imperative to its existence. This is due to the previously mentioned risk of cardiac arrest. Spoink was also one of the few Pokémon originally able to use the move Bounce, though this move now can be used by a decent quantity of Pokémon. It bounced away from him now with a dirty look on its face, like Argent was some kind of monster. Argent sighed a little, but he was relieved that the Pokémon had suffered no lasting damage from what Argent had done to it by mistake.

"Wow, rude," Alex the Ranger had said to Argent, and Argent shook his head. He was quite a patient person as far as patience went, but Alex had stretched his patience too far that day, so with the combination of his tiredness and also the rudeness that Alex had exhibited towards him, Argent arched his eyebrows.

"Rude? Rude? Yeah, because you can obviously tell what RUDE is. You've been rude to me from the word go on this Park run, and I am getting so entirely sick of what you've made me put up with. I am going to so write a complaint when this run is over, because you have been nothing but snarky and snide with me throughout this entire day. I bet you didn't even want to take me on this run - did old Rex push you into taking another run? I bet he did, because you clearly have not wanted to take me. You've just made the completely wrong comment, mister, and it's going to be for the last time on this run, I tell you. I am sick of this bullshit, I really am. You've pushed me too far today, and I'd really like to tell you EXACTLY what I think of you, but I won't, because I can at least show a tiny bit more politeness throughout an angry giving-out than you can when you're trying to be NICE to someone, especially me, for some reason. Really, I don't know how you even became a Ranger. I thought being a people person was a requirement, huh? Or at least having some sense of a moral compass, instead of some crappy compass that you carry around with you to tell where you're going!

"So, I'll tell you what. I'll capture the next Pokémon we encounter, and then I am so out of here. Maybe by then the Pokémon I've caught might not have been drowned in your disgusting Lickitung's slabber!" Argent puffed out at once, although he kept his composure for the most part. He sighed when he saw that the Ranger wasn't going to reply, and he felt satisfied for the time being. At least now he could draw his run up to a wrap, and he could leave to go get some rest. He could apologise later, but he was too tightly-strung for now that he couldn't bring himself to try and apologise for what he had just said - he was probably exaggerating one or two things in his little tirade as well, but he didn't want to believe it and thus ignored it. Giving another sigh, he moved on after his Ranger, Chimey floating by his side meekly and Assan trailing along behind him - Mortifex had been recalled to rest again, and was safe in the confines of his Poké Ball. Argent would have Chimey see to him again a bit later.

Argent, do you not think that was a bit... over the top? Chimey asked, a tiny bit intimidated by his uncharacteristic outburst towards their Ranger - he was usually not rude to anyone.

Ugh, I kind of do, but I'm not going to ask him for his forgiveness yet. You can't deny that he's been more than just a little unaccommodating towards us both. You see how he's been trying his best not to laugh, how he's been treating both of my caught Pokémon with careless abandon, throwing the Park Balls which I have been slaving for money to buy them with into his dirty, saliva-filled, filthy, outrageous, baffoon-y, ugly, stupid Lickitung's mouth! I am not prepared to forgive him yet, or ask for his forgiveness either, if that's what you want me to do. I'm tired, and I feel like I'm coming down with something. I hope we can just end this Park Run soon, Argent replied, although he was extremely sorry for being rather short with Chimey. Chimey sighed in her jingling way and moved on, a bit ahead of Argent, as if she didn't want to be speaking to him at that moment.

Argent walked down the path that their Ranger had led them on, his shoes scuffing along the gravelly path, littered with various stones that had fell from the nearby stone cliffs and edges, and Argent knew that the atmosphere was also going towards his sour mood - the fog made him feel insecure, and the valley that seemed to be closing in on him was also a contributing factor towards how bad he felt. However, he found consolation in the fact that he could always apologise later and make up, no matter how bad things were at that moment or how bad things would get or how badly he would feel before or after doing whatever it was that had created the rift in the first place. Argent sighed, still moving on swiftly. He adjusted his black, fingerless gloves and dusted down his jet-black three-quarter-lengths. Still walking at a quick pace behind his ranger, it wasn't long before another Pokémon had appeared, and Argent, as he had said to Alex, was going to capture it, no matter what it was - it was a Gengar! Argent was surprised immensely, and his mood lifted. As long as it was a good Pokémon he'd be capturing, it'd be okay.

The Gengar had, in fact, risen out from the ground in front of Argent, and floated up to his face, licking it. Argent had shivers sent down his spine, and he shook his head slightly, wiping off the ghostly saliva that had gotten on his face due to the Gengar's licking of him. Argent shuddered slightly, and then glared at the Gengar as it floated backwards more. His Ranger was laughing out loud, and Argent just looked at him meaningfully, as if to say that he would come over and beat the shit out of that dude if he did not stop being such an asshole to him. Argent watched as the Gengar took its fighting stance, and Argent definitely had it in his mind to capture this Pokémon, especially with the current weaponry he had - he could easily take down this Gengar with any of his Pokémon - be it Assan, Mortifex... or even Chimey. Although Chimey was weak to Gengar's Ghost-type attacks, she was just as equally offensive to him, as due to his Poison-typing she could hit him hard with her Psychic-type moves.

And a promise was a promise - Argent had promised to Chimey that she could battle the next Pokémon he had decided to capture. It was a question of whether she would battle it or not that was the most important at that time, but Argent was sure she'd enjoy taking up the challenge - she had defeated the Munchlax that was currently in Argent's possession, despite its immense defense against special moves, the moves that Chimey was the best at performing due to her high special attack, which became even higher when she had boosted it with her Calm Mind move, something that Argent was trying to work into his battle plan against the Gengar - of course, he'd be an extremely tough opponent due to his Ghost-typing, but Argent knew that she would be able to pull off an offence against the Gengar, and pull it off with style and power. Although apparently, according to more "professional" battlers, Chimecho weren't the best Pokémon for battling with, but Argent had thus far proved all these so-called experts wrong with his unique Chimecho strategics.

"Okay, Chimey, a promise is a promise, and always has been. I said you can battle the next Pokémon I wanted to capture, so here's your chance! I know you won't let me down, you've always been the greatest. You're my most versatile Pokémon that I've brought with me, and I know you can adapt to anything that the Gengar throws at you, but we're still going to have to have you to be tough, okay? It's going to be harder than the average battle that we've had here in the Park so far, but we can pull through this. I know you can do this, so that's more of the reason why I chose you, rather than keeping a promise, although I do always keep my promises anyway." He cast a meaningful glance towards Alex, but said nothing more. He was still thinking, and replayed various events over and over in his head, searching through for battle strategies, but found his mind coming back to that one strange dream he had had, just before he was heading to Mt. Oktori to meet Cameron, a trainer with whom he had experienced quite a lot in just a short time.

    ***

A lone Chimecho was in the meadow, floating in one place and simply thinking, it seemed. The meadow was lush, green, full of life. Other Pokémon danced around in the meadow, of course, but none of them went near the Chimecho. A blue-black-haired trainer walked forwards to the Chimecho. She looked up, her eyes shining with recognition and love. She beamed at him, and then appeared to wave to something behind the trainer. The next thing the trainer knew, a whole group of about ten or eleven Chimecho floated over his head, and they took formation along with Chimey, the trainer's Chimecho. The original Chimecho opened her mouth and let out a single, pure note. It rang through the meadow, and the other Pokémon became still. Chimey then proceeded to let out other notes, providing a backbeat. Five other Chimecho followed her lead, and now that the backbeat had been established, Chimey started on another tune, which carried over like a percussion part to the song of some sort. Three took up this part, and it was now beginning to be shaped into a jig.

Somewhere, where Argent was conscious, he realised that this was what Chimey dreamed of for the most part - music. As the percussion had been set, Chimey now began the melody, which became erratic yet joyous. It was extremely energetic to say the least, and the other Pokémon had been taken over by this feeling. The remaining Chimecho took up the melody, and now the song was complete and kept going. Argent stepped forward and took Chimey's stubby arm with his own hand, then looked down at himself. He was shrinking somehow, and felt as if he was becoming younger. He noted that his arms became stubbier, and then - for a moment - saw through Chimey's eyes. Argent doubled back in surprise consciously - he was a Chimecho himself now! They danced together in the sunlight of the dream.

"AHEM!" someone screamed suddenly, throwing Argent from the dream as he broke the link in shock.

    ***

But no, that wasn't what he was there to be remembering. He had to come up with a battle plan, one that could win him this and still enable him to capture the Pokémon. He had to do this, he definitely had to do this. It was now or never. So, with a thrust of his hand, he flung out his arm and started to give his commands.

"First, Chimey, Thunder Wave! We want to incapacitate the Gengar, and this'll make him much more easy to capture..."

    ***

Being an account of Thunder Wave vs. Munchlax.

As soon as Argent had issued his commands, the Munchlax's face distorted into one of extreme determination. It bit its lip as it focused. Chimey, jingling, had floated closer to the Munchlax.

    Then, the battle had began.

Chimey, overexcited as usual, whipped her ribbon-like tail around in a circular motion, causing her to emit some noise from time to time. Then, there was a yellow energy forming in a circle as she traced the shape over and over again. As the outline grew stronger, Argent noted that it began to crackle with electricity. Argent had taught her to use it this way, as it was extremely unexpected and kept the opponent guessing what was going on until the attack hit. Argent, smirking, watched Chimey as she released the paralysing ring of electricity towards the Munchlax, who seemed to be awaiting Chimey's move before making one of his own.

The ring bolted towards Munchlax, who appeared to make no effort at all to move. He stood there, seemingly dumbfounded, at the yellow ring which collided with his body. As soon as it had clashed into his fur, a yellow colour spiralled around his body, crackling with electricity also. Munchlax was paralysed - Argent could see that clearly enough. However, he moved one of his hands, delving into his fur with quite a lot of agility considering his condition. He smiled deviously as he pulled out a round object, which Argent could only guess was a berry. He threw it up high into the air. When it came back down, he opened his large mouth wide and the berry zipped straight into his gullet. Munchlax swallowed, and the effect was almost instantaneous. Within seconds of eating the berry, the indications of paralysis that had been slowly spiralling around his body faded out of existence.

The Munchlax was no longer paralysed. Argent whistled in surprise, slapping his hand onto his thigh. Thunder Wave, on the whole, had failed. It had barely even stalled Munchlax.

"It's okay, Chimey!" Argent cheered encouragingly, waving one of his arms in the air. "Keep going!"

    ~*~

"Chimey, use Thunder Wave on him now, seriously!" Argent urged the chirpy little Chime Pokémon. Cassidy took up her clapping once more.

Keep your panties on, I'm doing it now! I'm, like, really tired! Chimey replied, her thoughts leaving a strange imprint of frustration in Argent's brain. Argent threw the notion of apology into her mind, and hoped she'd understand that he was quite stressed as well. Of course, she did - their brains were well-trained to understand each other and how they felt in any given situation. They could read each other better than they could read books.

Chimey was moving onto the climax of their current plan at this stage, although Argent secretly knew that their efforts wouldn't be enough to secure them a capture. Argent judged it at around 50-50 after paralysis, so he began to quickly formulate their next attack upon the Munchlax, who would indeed make a nice addition to Argent's rather truthfully inexperienced team. She flicked her tail towards Munchlax, concentrating with all her might on the electrical paralytic waves that she knew she could generate. The familiar electrifying sensation slipped through her tail, and she knew she had been successful in generating them at this stage. The thick, bright yellow waves simply crackled with energy and zapped the Munchlax, granting the large mass of blue fur with a major hindrance to his performance in battle. Argent slowly stepped forwards, wondering what would be thrown at Chimey next by the pesky thing.

Munchlax was, again, preparing some strange orb. This one crackled with electricity, and Argent knew what it was before Munchlax could release it. There was no hope for Chimey to avoid this, not with the rain - Argent knew that, with rain in effect within the area, the Thunder move could not miss his precious friend. Still, he could cry out dramatically in vain.

"Chimey, watch out! That's Thunder!" he shouted as a warning. As Thunder was released, Chimey made her best attempt to move out of the way, but the Thunder zapped her entirely and her core shook with the raw power of the unleashed electricity. Argent gasped slightly, and rushed to her side as she crumpled in pain. Gently placing his palm to the back of her tiny body, he encouraged her to straighten up and keep fighting. He guided her back into the air, and then stepped back from her. Chimey waited for her next orders.

"Oh, Chimey! This is so annoying now! I think the best option is to just zap the brains straight out of that Hoppip-pickin' lil' punk!!!! Use the most powerful Extrasensory you have, along with any other piece of psychic energy you have left!" Argent exclaimed melodramatically.

    What--? Chimey asked in confusion.

I don't have time to explain, just feel it with me, Argent replied, all the while shouting, "Yeah, you can do it!"

    ***

"Yes, Chimey, you know you can do it. Then, we'll need a Calm Mind to be used. That'll help you attack it with much more power, you know..."

    ***

Being an account of Chimey's Calm Mind.

Chimey was a peaceful Pokémon, and no more so than when she had used Calm Mind to boost both her special attack and her special defence. She found she could attack with heightened precision and power, and whenever Argent ordered it of her she felt wonderful carrying it out. To utilise it properly, Chimey had to close her eyes gently, and underneath her eyelids would glow a light blue colour, which would usually extend around her whole body. She had to concentrate immensely on how her psychic power could affect others, and how that special power would be heightened considerably when she had used the move, and how this could be used in turn. Using Pokémon moves was not an easy feat, but she had to carry them out in the battles to please both her trainer and herself.

So it was. She'd close her eyes, and her eyelids would begin to glow a wonderfully light blue colour. This aura would spread to outline her body entirely to any onlooker, blue energy simply rippling down her body. The energy couldn't really be described as anything but wonderful, so Argent nor Chimey herself had ever bothered to describe it as anything else. She'd close her eyes, and that wonderful power would envelop her. She felt like she was on top of the world when she carried it out. Like she could do anything.

    ***

"Then, your Extrasensory attack - we'll test the boundaries of this one's strength before we unleash the full Psychic on him!" Argent said excitedly.

    ***

Being an account of Extrasensory vs. Munchlax.

Let it pass, Chimey. Do what you have to! Remember not to sustain the link with me while you use Extrasensory, though... last time was an absolute nightmare, Argent replied.

Chimey, quickly unravelling the link she had flung around her trainer's mind in order to converse with him telepathically, now closed her eyes in order to focus on Munchlax. Getting a good picture of him in her mind, she proceeded to get on with the move. She knew what she had to do - it was kind of like a psionic blast, as scientists once called this move. However, it took a more physical manifestation - she couldn't just fling herself into his mind to do this. She raised her ribbon-like tail and began to spin it in some strange anti-clockwise motion in order to generate mysterious purple "waves", which seemed to be quite thin - as was the move's appearance, of course. These waves shot towards Munchlax at a certain speed, and hit him square-on. Argent whistled under his breath triumphantly - at least this part of his plan was going to work, he was completely confident of that! Munchlax was at last getting within capturing reach, although since he was quite rare, Argent knew he had some more work to do before he could get this over and done with. Argent was not going to give up, however. He found these exciting moments of his life far too precious to waste.

Munchlax writhed in the air as he tried to get through the incomprehensible pain caused by Extrasensory within his mind. Argent's nervous smile was now a confident one, and he beamed upon the battle as he watched Munchlax become far too distracted to even attempt to move off any other kind of move thrown at him in the current situation. The colourless body - colourless due to Entrainment, of course - was twisting and turning in mid-air in a helpless attempt to throw off what was happening. Argent wasn't going to throw off this chance for paralysing the Munchlax on their second attempt.

"Let's do this, Chimey! I know you can do this well!"

OOC: I don’t know why you’re expecting that from me (which is insulting), it’s a Ranger’s job to read the post even if it’s long and boring. And what is that little spas about lol, he wasn’t rude at all to Argent.

"Rude? Rude?” Argent began, which caught me by surprise a little. I wasn’t rude to him, he was probably just a little pussy who took everything the wrong way.

“Here we go,” I groaned, sitting down by the tree.

Yeah, because you can obviously tell what RUDE is. You've been rude to me from the word go on this Park run, and I am getting so entirely sick of what you've made me put up with. I am going to so write a complaint when this run is over, because you have been nothing but snarky and snide with me throughout this entire day. I'll capture the next Pokémon we encounter, and then I am so out of here. Maybe by then the Pokémon I've caught might not have been drowned in your disgusting Lickitung's slabber!"

“Wow, you sure can talk. To be honest, I haven’t been rude at all. I’m not sure what the hell you’re talking about. If you want to write me up, go for it, I’ll even help you do it. If anything, you’re the one that is rude. I haven’t said anything that is rude… I’ve thought about it, but that is different. If you had your nosy ass, weak-as-heck Chimecho listening to my thoughts like I’ve heard she does from other people, then that’s rude, otherwise, I have no idea what you’re talking about. Please… share with me when I was rude because I sure as hell would like to know. If you are on your period, then maybe you will want to monitor those better and not come on runs when that happens. If I didn’t want to take this run then I wouldn’t have, no matter who ‘forced’ me. Another thing, Lickitron is not disgusting. I would so kick your wimpy ass right now if I weren’t on this run for insulting him. If you don’t like it, tough luck.”

Lickitron sagged his head low as he retreated behind me. I wasn’t sure what his problem was, but he was so lucky I was on duty. “Don’t let his insolence offend you. He’s talking about rude, yet he is over here saying offensive things to you when you have done nothing wrong.” Then I looked over to Argent. “You want rude, then that is what I’ll be from here on out. Okay crybaby, let’s get moving.”

When Gengar came along, I just moved out of his way. I knew this battle was going to be different. He was clearly on his rag so things might play out differently than the last battle.

"First, Chimey, Thunder Wave! We want to incapacitate the Gengar, and this'll make him much more easy to capture... Yes, Chimey, you know you can do it. Then, we'll need a Calm Mind to be used. That'll help you attack it with much more power, you know... Then, your Extrasensory attack - we'll test the boundaries of this one's strength before we unleash the full Psychic on him! Let's do this, Chimey! I know you can do this well!" He must be bipolar. He was just raging about stuff that wasn’t true and now he was all happy. This kid has some issues.

Chimecho launched a ball of electricity towards Gengar. Gengar noticed this and quickly made clones of himself. I now saw seven Gengar on the field. Chimecho must have known that this was going to be a problem and didn’t try it again. Instead she went on and used Calm Mind. Her body began glowing white and blue as she relaxed her thoughts.

She left herself wide open and one of the Gengar clones swooped in and punched Chimecho right in the face, knocking her down. I was about to ask if she was alright, but then I remembered her bipolar trainer and would probably think I was being rude so I kept my mouth shut… for now. Chimecho slowly got up and sent off a wave of psychic energy towards the Gengar and his clones. Slowly all the clones disappeared, all of them but two. I wasn’t sure if the real one got hit, but we were going to find out soon enough.

OOC: Lol, insulting? It was a joke. }: And also, Argent hasn't been feeling great, so he was taking things the wrong way :<. Also, Chimey'll be reading the minds of the Gengar to see which one is the real one, then using Psyshock, then attempting Thunder Wave again.

    ***

Argent could see that his Lickitung was upset, and got a sharp pang in his stomach. He was seriously unwell right now, and was so extremely sorry for being snappy with Leo. He was tired and upset due to the ongoing "drag" as such that he had felt that this run was, and was at his wits' end, basically. He didn't mean to have said anything that he did, and he was tired of having to apologise to everyone - he even did it when he hadn't said anything wrong or done anything wrong, but he knew that right now, he had done something wrong and in the process he had upset a Pokémon and got a Ranger who could have potentially been his friend on the wrong side of him completely, and he knew that the damage was possibly irreparable, and that's why he was feeling even more miserable as he was approached by the Gengar, and also kind of mad. But then again, what Alex had just came out with was also very rude in itself, but Argent supposed he deserved it for what he had said to him first. He knew that Alex hadn't really been rude or anything, and that was it.

But "nosy-ass, weak-as-hell" Chimey? That really wasn't on with him, although he knew that he had called out on the Lickitung himself. Chimey was just a simple Chime Bell Pokémon. She really hadn't done anything wrong, she was just being curious like she always was. Sometimes she even tuned into thoughts by accidents. She wasn't "nosy" really, she just listened to thoughts because she wanted to hear things when others were quiet, because, being a Pokémon who's quite musical, they feel strange when they don't hear things often enough. She also sometimes delved into others' thoughts to see their plans in battles, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, especially if she was trying to find out so that her trainer wouldn't be completely clueless about what they were about to do and what they were planning through a psychic link, especially if the trainer was about to do something that could possibly endanger the Park. In a way, Chimey was doing a job that Argent couldn't do, and sometimes it really was necessary - she wasn't being nosy or anything.

And as for weak? Argent had raised Chimey from a Chingling that he had encountered in Olivine City, and raised her with loving and care, like all trainers did with their original Pokémon. Some did not form such deep connections as the ones that Argent and Chimey had together, and due to that connection he found that he was in perfect synchronisation with his Chimecho. Sure, she wasn't exactly the most powerful, at least not in terms of brute force. She could be a force to reckoned with when used with the right techniques, though, and Argent had conquered both the Johto and Kanto Pokémon Leagues, with Argent having Chimecho as his main Pokémon - yeah, she wasn't the best for some Gyms and Elites, but she could still make a splash where it was possible. No, she didn't have the best typing, and that made her weak to some things, but she was a great special attacker when used right and an even better Pokémon at supporting her teammates in battles, especially with all of her healing moves and moves that could cripple other Pokémon with status effects.

Argent had been bragged to before about how other Psychic Pokémon were much more powerful than his own silly Chimecho, and others had remarked that his Grumpig would make a better fighter than his Chimecho, which, in some cases, was true. But still, Argent worked through adversity to get his Chimecho to be as best as she could be, and worked with the resources she provided him with. He wasn't going to pick and choose - Chimey was his first Pokémon and his first friend, and helped him through everything. Her powers didn't matter to him, nor did her strength. What mattered is that she tried her best and, even if she didn't succeed, she could at least know that it was a major achievement to have stood up to whatever opponent she had, and that was something Argent sadly realised that other trainers didn't realise - most of them wanted to prove that their Pokémon were stronger than others, but Argent just wanted to show others that you could bring a Pokémon and have it try its best, and bring out its best that way. Others wanted to conquer opponents through sheer force, but Argent used certain strategies to suit his Chimecho's style of fighting.

He didn't know what to say now, though. "I--I'm so sorry for what I said, Alex. I'm just really not having a good day today, and I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to offend anyone, I--I'm not well and I'm kind of tired, not really that angry," he stammered weakly, his face going even paler than it was usually. "I can't even say how sorry I am. I'm not usually like that, and I'm even more sorry for offending your Lickitung. I can see how upset he is, and you must think that I'm just an absolute fricking prick, which I'll agree with you on for my past actions. You can kick my ass, I don't care, I'm not going to report you or anything. I deserve it, I know I do. Oh, and by the way, in case you think I'm bipolar or anything - I'm not. Just to clear that up!" At any rate, Argent had apologised, and he walked after the Ranger to see when they could get a battle started, and moments later he had encountered that Gengar, which had licked his face. He sighed, and the battle had begun.

    ***

[This is more forward on, towards the present.]

Argent had issued his commands a little too brightly, which may have seemed suspicious or something, but he didn't really care. He was trying to give the image of confidence or happiness to his Pokémon, not trying to wear her spirits down even further with that little tirade of his. So he didn't really care what other people might have thought about that little apparent switch between moods, because he wasn't going to change whatever he was doing. He was in the zone right now, and he watched as his Chimecho floated forwards, ready to carry out his commands. He knew, though, that it wasn't like the Gengar was going to be totally unresponsive - both trainer and Pokémon would have to stay on their toes if they wanted to defeat this Gengar. Again, he knew that the type disadvantage was a major one for Chimecho, and it would be bad if the Gengar used something like Shadow Punch on her - she had a low defence, so that would be something to watch out for. If only Argent was a bit of a better trainer, then he could come up with some foolproof strategy to get Chimey to win.

But for now, she'd just have to try her best, and that was what Argent was counting on. Chimey was in front of Argent, and she raised her arms upwards slightly, and began to spin her blue-and-red ribbonlike tail in a circular motion, and a ring of electricity was formed, sparking crazily, almost as if there was a high amount of voltage in there. She fired it off towards the Gengar, but it was clear that the Gengar wasn't having it. The Gengar quickly noticed the ring of paralytic electricity, and he closed his eyes for a few moments, then dashed to either side. But, as far as Argent could see, he wasn't actually dashing, or at least not in the normal sense - as he went to each side, Argent could see that these 'frames' of him dashing had been slowed down, and then everyone, including the original Gengar, grew still, and there were seven of them. It was quite strange, but Argent realised that the Gengar had used Double Team, but it wouldn't quite phase Chimey, her being a Psychic-type Pokémon and everything. They were good at seeing through what many couldn't normally see through.

This was going to be a problem from the start, Chimey. Don't give another attempt at it, simply just move on with our plan. There's nothing you can do to help the situation at the moment, especially given the fact that there are now seven Gengar to deal with. So, as I said, you can move on! You know you can do it, Argent told her, smiling encouragingly at her back even though she probably couldn't see it. Well, more than likely couldn't see it, seeing as Argent was smiling at her back, and Chimey wasn't looking behind her - as always, she was looking forwards and concentrating on the battle, trying her best like she always did. Argent was so proud of her battling against an opponent who could have been seen as much stronger than she was. Argent knew that she'd have to get a move on, though, or the Gengar - whichever was the original - would start up on the attacking front, and Chimey might have been in danger from whatever that was. However, Chimey was on it, and being as patient as she could - Calm Mind was a hard thing to do under stress, which was why Argent didn't demand it of her often in a battle.

Closing her bright yellow eyes, they began to glow a light blue colour underneath her eyelids. She found that a calming sensation spread down her, kind of like when you're relieved while doing a poo and all those tingles go down your spine and you feel all 'brr'-y, only this was a slight bit more pleasant - not that Chimey had a spine, of course, seeing as she was a bell or something. At any rate, Chimey was utilising her Calm Mind attack, and found that her powers were heightened somewhat, which she always enjoyed - the feeling of empowerment was such a rush, especially in the middle of a battle. It made you feel confident, and it made you think that you could actually win something, even through adversity presented to her. Her body became outlined in the same light blue aura, and Argent could see that she was focusing her mind and calming her spirit to raise her special attack and special defence stats, so she had more of a fighting chance against the Gengar, which was really needed in a battle like this. Even though the Gengar was weak to her Psychic attacks, it was always good to have the upper hand.

Her eyes snapped open, and she found she could perceive things with a slightly calmer point of view, although she was still extremely focused on the battle, she was just focusing on it, and blotting out strange details that didn't matter to her. However, her Calm Mind had left herself wide open, and she found that one of the Gengar septuplets had levitated in, a purple aura surrounding its hand that had been curled into a fist, and both Chimey and Argent realised what it was, but just before it was too late.

Shadow Punch! The thought came to them both simultaneously, and Chimey was knocked to the ground by the hard punch, although Argent could see that it hadn't damaged her really fully. Argent knew that this was bad for her, but he hoped that his Chimecho could get up and keep fighting, and hopefully they could work something out that wouldn't make her get hurt so much. For now, though, she'd have to work through the pain, however much there was, and continue with the plan until they could make a new one after all her current attacking plans had finished. Slowly, deliberately, Chimey got up, and just as slowly she floated upwards, a few feet from the ground. Her yellow eyes flashed a light pink colour, and Argent could see she was preparing her Extrasensory attack to see what damage she could do to the Gengar. Of course, it might not be much, but if it was all she could muster then Argent thought that it should be so. Again, he wasn't going to pick-and-choose just because his Chimecho may or may not have been weaker than other Pokémon.

All of a sudden, she thrust her body forwards and pinkish-purple waves of psychic energy were emitted forcefully from her body, and Argent was so proud. It ripped through five of the Gengar duplicates, and they all turned to nothing - that left two of the duplicates left, of course, but that wasn't going to be so much of a bother now. Even though maybe they looked and acted the same, one of them was a fake and imitation of life was a hard thing to keep up, especially when you're against a Pokémon who can see things that others couldn't through the use of their psychic powers, those who could read thoughts - Argent didn't think that duplicates produced through Double Team even had thoughts, so perhaps that's what Argent would use to his advantage in his next series of commands, whatever they were - he could have Chimey do a quick mindscan of the two Gengar, and see which one was real and which one was an impostor - well, not an impostor, seeing as the Gengar had made the duplicate itself.

However, he would come up with a plan, and so he did. He smiled a little as Chimecho floated back to hear his next issuing of commands for her to carry out in the battle. "Okay, Chimey. We can see that Gengar is obviously trying to trick us with Double Team, so we should hope for the best in that he won't try to do it again - making duplicates is apparently a hard business anyway. I might teach you Double Team someday. It could come in useful. Anyway, there's a few ways we could approach this, although I'm not entirely sure what way we can do first; we could have you do a quick mindscan on the two, not that it's going to be very hard or anything, to make the real one step forward in your mind, and then we can carry out the attack on the real one at that stage. I think the most suitable thing would be Psyshock - with your boosted special attack, and any Gengar's low defence, Psyshock will deal a lot of damage. Afterwards, try another Thunder Wave - we might get lucky this time, and actually paralyse the thing. This should hopefully work, and afterwards we can unleash more powerful forces. We just need to debilitate it first."

Chimey, who was getting much better at reading minds after all these years, could quickly skim across the outer layers of each of their minds, providing they exist - the duplicates were basically like mindless zombies, so whichever one was actually thinking coherently would be the one that she could attack - in case of this part of her plan failing, she could of course just attack the two - that would dilute her power a bit, but she'd have to forgo that if she wanted to win the battle. In any case, she'd be using Psyshock, a rather powerful move which pitted the user's special attack against the opponents defence, rather than the usual special attack where it was pitted against special defence. Of course, it wasn't entirely foolproof, but it was the best she could do. In order to carry out this attack, she spun her tail in a circle - much like the way she did Thunder Wave - and she would produce a swirling blue-and-pink-coloured orb, which would make its way towards the opponent, and, on impact, damage them. The same went for Thunder Wave, only it was an electrical yellow ring of energy that paralysed on impact.

Argent then apologized, which took me by surprised because of his previous statement. He was angry one moment, making crazy remarks at me, then apologizing about it. That was definietely the sign of being bipolar. But, if he said he wasn't then I guess he really was having an off day. Something I didn't like to have, who did.

"Hmm, interesting." I thought to myself. That plan was quite impressive. I'd never thought to try and uncover Double Team like that. I just waited to see what would happen.

Chimecho quickly followed orders and began scanning the two Gengars. It wasn't long before he figured out which was which. He then sent a strange pulse of Psychic energy towards thee Ghost Pokemon. I knew the move, but I had never seen or used it before. It looked like it did a good amount of damage.

Chimecho then began powering up another blue ball of electrical energy. He was about to fire it, but Gengar sent off a quick ring of dark energy. Chimecho then fired her attack, which glided over Gengars. Dark Pulse hit Chimecho, but Thunder Wave in turn hit Gengar. Now, catching him was that much easier.

OOC: Didn't realise that I had wrote this wrongly. Please excuse me for having the moves mixed up a lil' bit. D; Also, if Gengar is captured, then I'll be ending the run.

Okay, Argent. Will do, she replied, giving out a tinkly sigh before floating out in front of Argent a bit, looking towards the two Gengar standing side-by-side and examining them thoroughly. She raised her arms into the air dramatically, which technically served no purpose except drama, Argent supposed. However, she quickly sent her mind outwards, probing towards the Gengar standing in front of her. The Gengar didn't seem to be doing anything for the time being, at least - perhaps they were a bit confused about what the Chimecho was doing and why she was doing it. Well, one of them was, at least - Argent hadn't a clue how a duplicate's mind worked, but he was pretty sure that for the most part, they were completely thoughtless to the point that they seemed like zombies. Seemingly, he was maybe correct - it was true that the duplicates had no minds of their own, due to the fact that the duplicate would just copy whatever the original did - it's not like they had thoughts of their own. The original controlled everything their duplicates did.

On the basis of that, Argent was hoping that Chimey would be able to tell them apart by this theory - one of the Gengar would be thinking clearly and precisely, planning, doing actions, et cetera. However, the other, perhaps, might not even show up on Chimey's little mindscan, depending on if they had thoughts or not. At any rate, Chimey was quickly working on the mindscan to tell them apart, and quite quickly she had discovered which one was which, although Argent wasn't going to question how she knew because the battle would have been underway at this point, and his guess was correct. Chimey prepared herself to begin the plan on the attacking front, instead of simply mindscanning the two Gengar, not that there was actually two, seeing as one was a sham of a Gengar - false, in other words. Argent smiled as she floated further towards the Gengar, and he knew from then on it could finally be serious business, without any little tricks that either of them could produce, although Argent knew that battles weren't always won through sheer force, but through wit and deception.

Argent watched Chimey as she still had her arms raised in the air, and he posed the question yet again of whether these were actually arms or legs. He hadn't paid much attention to the arm/leg on the back of her body, either, and perhaps that was a leg, although it was just the same as the arms on the front of her body. Perhaps two were arms, and one was a leg, or perhaps all were arms, or even all could be legs. Argent had been asking that question for many years, but not even Chimey herself could come up with an answer - the forming of her body was just how she was. It wasn't really like she could change it or anything, so Argent didn't ask the question very often to Chimey herself, but let it to his own speculation, due to the fact that if he asked Chimey, she often got stressed out about it trying to answer it for herself - Argent knew how awkward it would be if it was actually revealed that, after research, all were legs. Argent wondered what it would be like to have three legs - probably hard to walk, he supposed, smirking a little at the thought.

As Chimey had her arms/legs raised, her eyes flashed a wondrous blue temporarily, and then the tips of the two arms on the front of her body began to glow the same blue colour that had flashed across her eyes. In the gap was produced a large orb, which swelled immensely in size. It was primarily blue, although it had pink particles that made up a lot of it, too. Argent had only done this move with Chimey a couple of times - not really often enough for her to utilise it to her full potential, of course, but enough that she could cause enough damage and use it quite successfully. Argent knew that she needed a lot of practise for anything to learn it well, and had mastered a lot of the moves that she currently knew, having practised with them a lot - before the National Park came into both of their lives, they often decided to train extremely often with Argent's other caught Pokémon, and Chimey had proven herself to be one of the best, even against Pokémon which put her at a type disadvantage, such as Argent's Ledian and others too.

However, the Gengar knew that the true it had been realised, and it began to charge up some move that Argent couldn't see that well at the time. It had stretched its arms far outwards in front of it, and at its fingertips was dark purple energy forming, and swirling into a shape in front of him, almost like a circle. In this dark purple energy formed black sparks, which started to shoot around in the orb of the energy. Argent recognised this as Dark Pulse, but wasn't going to have Chimey call off her attack - they'd have to time this right. Argent could see that the Gengar was coming close to shooting off the arc of dark energy, but wasn't going to put pressure on his Chimecho in case he put her off and made her lose concentration, but knew he'd have to make his move soon. The Gengar smirked slightly, and his hands widened out a little bit, and Argent knew that the attack was about to be shot right at Chimey. They'd both get hit if he timed it right. Just another second...

Now, Chimey! Argent called through their psychic link.

Both attacks were released at the same time - dark purple energy coursed towards Chimey through the air, and the bright orb was released from Chimey. The two attacks contacted at one point, and Argent could see that small sparks were created between the two as the Dark Pulse slid underneath the Psyshock sphere of energy. Chimey braced herself in the air, but found herself blasted backwards by the energy, and Gengar was also hit by Psyshock - it looked like it had done more damage to him than Dark Pulse had done to Chimey, to be honest. Perhaps that was because of Chimey's boosted special attack and defence - the special attack was pitted against Gengar's weak defences, but Gengar's special attack was pitted against Chimey's already high and boosted special defence, so it hadn't done as much damage - that was the most likely explanation, and this made Argent glad that he had taken the time to think of using Calm Mind in order to make Chimey a bit stronger than she usually was in a battle. Stat boosting moves were great.

At this point, whilst Gengar was down, Chimey made the effort to produce a Thunder Wave. She twirled her ribbon-like tail in the air, forming a ring of yellow electricity, sparking wonderfully as she generated it and fired it off towards the Gengar. The Gengar at this point was hit by the Thunder Wave, and this would make it that much easier to capture, and Argent was quite thankful for that. As Chimey returned to Argent, they exchanged a high-five - well, not exactly a proper high-five, seeing as Chimey only had one digit, and Argent still didn't know if that was a leg or an arm, although he preferred to think of it as an arm - what need would she have for legs? She floated all the time anyway due to her Levitate ability, so she didn't often sink to the floor to go to sleep or anything. Smiling at this thought, Argent quickly came up with another plan to capture the Gengar at long last, and then finally end this run. He wondered what he'd do with the Gengar, but he supposed he'd decide that once he could actually get to train it.

"Okay, Chimey, we're going to have to wrap this up. I'd really like it if you used Shadow Ball to end this, and afterwards, if you can manage it, try a Hypnosis, which will make the Gengar much easier to capture indeed. Try not to knock out the Gengar - be aware of his capabilities, so to speak. No kind of Park Ball works on unconscious Pokémon. Let's go!"

Chimey's Shadow Ball was much like any Shadow Ball - she generated a dark purple orb of gloopy energy that, on impact with the opponent, would damage them, depending on what type they were, of course. Chimey's Hypnosis was a simple move in which her eyes glowed a light blue colour, and blue waves of soothing energy would lull the opponent to sleep on contact with the opponent. After this had been done, perhaps the Gengar would be able to be captured at last.

    [INSERT BUMBLEBEE'S BATTLE POST HERE.]

Argent dropped to his knee in order to find a Hyper Ball in his bag, and, on finding one, he returned to his feet and enlarged the orb to full size. Hurling it towards the Gengar, he hoped that he would capture it. It had been a long, weary battle.
