I was just thinking, isn't Wobbuffet a little too broken and extremely unfair? If your opponent posts a move, you can counter with either counter or mirror coat, and you know how to counter it. If you post first, your opponent can use a move that makes yours fail, making the game completely unfair to one side or the other. There should be a way when dealing with wobbuffet to keep your move secret from the other player, like in the games.

You could do Revo battles instead of DP battles

or if up against a Wobbuffet just use toxic or something? Use a weak move, have him counter/mirror coat it, then Encore him and use a move that wouldn't be messed with by what you encored? Wobbuffet isn't in the least broken, its quite easy to deal with.

With the extended moveset that URPG allows you to have, Wobbuffet isn't that great. Use Leer, Toxic, Taunt, or something.

    Lol, taunt.

Anyway... like WTP said, use revo. I thought this was a troll thread at first and wasn't expecting it to be serious because it seamed kind of.. well stupid. Think outside the box, there is more than one set way to have a battle.

Wobbuffet is definitely not broken, you probably just need to figure out ways to get around it.

    I actually disagree with this.

When used correctly, as Marth did against Mike in the Champ battle, it can be devastating. While it certainly isn't as broken as on Shoddy, it's not exactly hard to use and break open a game. Not as many things get Taunt as you'd imagine, so if you just bring it in on like Starmie, you can just encore it then use Tickle or something to set up a sweeper and secure the battle.

It shouldn't be banned though until Salamence is, which will never happen. :mail:

    Too bad Wobbuffet used Safeguard!

As you can see, Wobbuffet has all the tools it needs in its arsenal to completely destroy the URPG economy. It needs to be banned. now.

I'm confused. Wouldn't banning Pokemon from the URPG defeat the purpose of playing the URPG? I think that instead of banning a certain Pokemon, certain moves should be banned instead.

Exactly. We should not ban Wobbuffet, but instead all of its moves.

Well then you might as well ban it, since no one would use a poke that can only use struggle, since you banned all of its moves...

Too bad Wobby is slower than most Mon that can inflict Confusion lulz.

Honestly, Wobby isn't that hard to beat. Like someone said, Encore it on the first turn, or use Taunt. Or Toxic it. Or use Attract, which like every Mon and its mother can get, to help take it out. Or here's an idea; use moves that take it down bit by bit (like Wrap lol) so when it Mirror Coats/Counters, it doesn't do very much damage to you, and then when it's HP is down enough use a stronger move to KO it. Even if you get Encored into using the move over and over, there's a good chance Encore will end before you can get KOed by it reflecting the damage back at you, and by then you can probably just use a stronger move to take it out completely.

It's just a matter of actually thinking about something before acting, really. Not that hard to do.

You're thinking of it as a 1 v 1 battle, where it's easily countered. What if somebody brings it in on something without Encore or Taunt? You're stuck using weak moves to hopefully KO it, while it makes your mon completely useless. What if it doesn't care about living, but weakens your mon's attack enough so it can't do anything and has to switch out once Wob is dead? There's also the option that most people would use, where you switch out once you've set up Safeguard etc. Go Salamence, use Dragon Dance! Oops I just broke the game open.

Also while you're using that weak move, it's setting up Safeguard so you can't status whatever comes in next and probably using Tickle to weaken you as well, or has already Encored you into a bad move that can be easily set up on.
