Besides equipping it on a Pokemon in battle, you should be able to attach it to Pokemon when trading/gifting, and include a silly message (yes, pointless, but I would totally do it for shits and giggles). The message can be sent by mod or trade approver.

Seriously, this item has competitive viability. Switch in on someone using Trick with a Choice item while holding Mail and they will be stuck using Trick unless they switch.

Mail seems like something that a lot of people will use (including me) it seems like a great idea.

 

I am ambivalent, but feel like making a post anyways.

 

I always wondered why mail wasn't in the mart when Heart Mail has a viable use. I say go for it, I would use it and it seems like it would actually be beneficial to battling. Sure, Heart Mail may not be the most commonly used item in the world but I'm sure that it would have its moments.

 

Yes, I'd much like for Heart Mail to be an actual item for use.

 

It doesn't have to Heart Mail, it can all different mails!

Hmm this could be interesting. Doesn't seem particularly useful though, but I guess something doesn't need to be "useful", it can just be "fun".

I'm pretty neutral to this idea I guess. I probably wouldn't use it, but if people are in support of it and there aren't really any potential balance issues I don't see why not.

I find this suggestion useless and time consuming. So you are immune to Trick. That's either for a massive power loss or a loss of a lot of bulk, on the off chance that someone is using Trick. Using another Choicer is a much better way to combat a predicted Trick.

 

Not to say the non-quoted people are agreeing with me just because it's me, the quoted posts above are just examples of people who are more likely to have genuine agreement. I also find such accusations to be pretty insulting to other members, suggesting their opinions are almost invalid.

It's not that lengthy to edit things into the Pokemart and Reffing Encyclopedia (which needs a revamp anyway). If none of the mods really want to do it themselves I could write up the details of the item myself, if it is to be implemented.

The actual competitive usefulness of an item should not be a criterion for whether an item is available. We already have Metronome, Shell Bell, and other near worthless items.

With the above statement, the following sentences are kind of pointless, but I wanted to further rebut anyway: Obviously there are trade offs for everything. You use one thing, you lose the benefits of another. And if we really want to battle theory or w/e, I think choice items are some of the worst items in the URPG, greatly limiting your options and asking yourself to be set-up bait. They're so bad that some people solely use them to give to the opponent!

 

I don't see how it's time consuming. It takes about a minute to edit it into All About Battles and the Mart.

In reality there's not a problem with adding it, since it is a legitimate item. Yeah it will probably never get used, but neither does something like a Smooth Rock, and that's even in the Underground.

I don't think that it's making their opinion invalid, but Jr does kind of have a point. Everyone loves you, and that's not your fault. They're more inclined to agree with something that you say rather than if a newer member posts it. That being said, if they're not going to give any reason why it should be included and just post I WANT THIS :mail:, then why should matter in a thread discussing it? If it were just votes, then you should have made a poll.
