    AFTER HOURS;;

an all-original Pokemon RP dedicated to Alaska

In the year 3005, we all thought the world ended. A comet collided into Planet Earth, carrying brutal, dangerous monsters who seemed imbued with eighteen traits of existence itself: beasts who burned whole skyscrapers down, melted peoples' minds, and drowned whole cities by summoning upon a godly water power. Scientists scrambled. Leadership left, leaving whole countries in anarchy. Somebody a long time ago whispered in fear the word Pokemon.

And their incredible abilities seeped into the souls of a few of us too, like a disease that cannot be cured no matter how much we prayed or sought medical help. Babies were born with a double consciousness on many levels: regular humans no longer saw these PokeSouls the same way though they looked just like a human; the PokeSouls had another voice ringing in their head who sounded like a Pokemon; and those PokeSouls sought to teach humans that Pokemon weren't out for their blood.

But fear knows no bounds. Ten years later, we all find ourselves caught in a war between the Pokemon and Human race. Each has their own agenda and isn't everyone so crazy to begin with? The only safety we sought, as PokeSouls ourselves, was the URPG space center suspended between the PokeWorld and the EarthWorld. And here we learn at school, form relationships, dance at night, and pretend that we won't be the child soldiers of the universe's greatest mistake. How long until?...

    • each in-character post is worth P300, which can be exchanged for character items/abilities or for $300 equivalent of URPG currensy to be used at the PokeMart, etc.
    • can play as a human, PokeSoul, Pokemon, or anything!
    • animanga face claims, plot development, events!
    • text-based RP with all original characters
    • 250 word count minimum

    ~*~

    OOC:

Another section of the URPG that can bring in more activity and role-players ^^ if you want in with the creation of this message me!

Proto had some ahmaaaazing~! ideas, and we worked together to flesh a few things out! I'm going to dump a few things here, like...

    CHARACTERS

In this role play, you may play as a Human, a PokeSoul, or a Pokemon! You may have as many characters as you wish. Please note that the first two characters are free, but you must purchase the right to make any new character after that. You may also play as a Legendary PokeSoul or Pokemon, but please read below to understand more about these types of characters and their titles. Every URPG member has the right to make one Legendary PokeSoul or Pokemon, but there is only one of each Legendary PokeSoul/Pokemon in the role-play as there are in the games (including Shaymin or Lugia, legendaries who seem to have babies, etc). You may purchase the right to create more than one Legendary PokeSoul or Pokemon.

    Humans

Humans are people of all ages who are mostly found on the EarthWorld. Ten years ago, the societies they knew and cherished dramatically changed when a comet collided into Loveland, Ohio, of the United States. Ever since, humans of all occupations found themselves in the middle of complete chaos. The Pokemon who inhabited the comet burned Loveland to the ground and quickly spread to nearby cities, states, spreading to the tips of the continent and across the oceans.

Now, some Humans were afflicted with the PokeSoul condition. Those who were not are simply known as Human, and most resent Pokemon and PokeSouls with every breath in their body. Many humans have been forced underground, while they wallow in self-pity, watching any remaining army force band together to fight off Pokemon above the surface. And who can blame the Humans for feeling this way? Whole families have been torn apart, neighborhoods have been abandoned, violence has spread across their beautiful EarthWorld.

However... not all places were affected the same way, and not all hearts were turned against Pokemon and PokeSouls forever. There is a small fraction of rebellious Humans who want to discover more about the PokeWorld and the magnificent creatures who flourish there. These Humans have their own revolutionary idea of love, and many have been rescued by Enforcers and now live aboard the URPG Space Center. They may be fighting right along to discover the truth of their shared universe. And they face great discrimination and risk while doing so.

    Titles, if applicable:

Protector: These are the brave women and men who surge onto the surface, GUNS BLAZIN', maneuvering huge Mamoswine Attack-on-Titan style away from any civilians who remain on the surface world. They are an army force thrown together to protect the people who chose to claim the EarthWorld as their homeland; and they have trained immensely and learned how to use weapons to scare away or, in the worst case, kill off feral Pokemon whenever they must.

Guardian: These wondrous individuals live Underground in EarthWorld, dedicating their lives to protecting and reassuring a terrified people. They take turns patrolling the Underground at all hours, answering the call of any person in distress. They are responsible for letting a superficial peace fall over EarthWorld, but should something go wrong, they are on call. They are hailed, like the Protectors, as heroes.

Healer: In the year 3005, health technology and science touched the sky of possibility. We live in a world where almost all terminal illness has been cured, where the average lifespan is 150 years old; and because of that, modern day doctors are now likened more to divine healers than doctors. They have the best science and technique of all three worlds to protect people and Pokemon.

    PokeSouls

PokeSouls were once Humans who now have the soul of a Pokemon residing within them. For some reason that no one understands quite yet, the comet's radiation has slipped into them and so have the abilities and traits of a Pokemon. PokeSouls have interesting relationships with the Pokemon inside; some PokeSouls agree so well with the Pokemon that they do not see it as a separate identity within them. Other PokeSouls have horribly disastrous relationships with the inside Pokemon, like a raging Gyarados who terrorizes the human side of the PokeSoul's personality. Other PokeSoul have Pokemon inside that are like dormant, guardian angels who sing their human to sleep and only use their Pokemon powers to help them in times of danger. It all depends on you! and the natural nature of the Pokemon in the PokeSoul's mind.

The Pokemon also has interesting influences on other aspects of the PokeSoul. Some PokeSouls may take on physical traits of their Pokemon, like a Pokemon Gijinka. Some PokeSouls may effectively look more Pokemon than human, but other PokeSouls take on no physical trait of their Pokemon, not even hair color or eye color. No one quite understands why... and people are still figuring out how the PokeSoul adopts the abilities and powers of the Pokemon within. Some learn extremely quickly how to use their powers, while others struggle to even get down a basic Quick Attack.

Most PokeSouls found refuge on the URPG Space Center, where they currently learn how to use and control their powers for good. However... many PokeSouls still live on the EarthWorld for a variety of reasons. Perhaps the Pokemon inside has not spoken yet, though they find themselves with new, unexplainable powers. Or perhaps they're hiding among the humans, trying to help them and lead them to a better world.

*Legendary PokeSouls have immense power inside. Their human minds are often overwhelmed with the immensity of the Pokemon's power; and for these reasons, it's much harder, if at times impossible, to control and get along with the Pokemon inside. Legendary PokeSouls have prolly been forcefully moved over to the URPG Space Center, where they are heavily watched over and guarded. If you plan on creating a PokeSoul, please also think of ways your character limits the Pokemon's power or safety "shut-down" techniques.

    Titles, if applicable:

Student: Students are PokeSoul of all ages who live on the URPG Space Center, trying to learn more about their powers and control them better. In the eight years the URPG Space Center has existed, they're done pretty darn well at creating a makeshift curriculum, if only to quiet the PokeSouls and make them busy amidst the chaos...

Professor: Professors are PokeSouls who've gotten extremely good at using their new powers. Perhaps they love teaching, or perhaps they are too afraid of violence to become an Enforcer; but for whatever reason, these are PokeSouls who now live on the URPG Space Center and educate PokeSouls about their powers.

Enforcer: Enforcers are PokeSouls who've gotten real good at using their powers and want to use those powers for good... right? Enforcers make routine trips to the EarthWorld to scout out for any PokeSouls who want to be rescued and escorted to the URPG Space Center. They mostly feel at odds for helping stop feral Pokemon on the EarthWorld and often experience too much hate to be there long, for their own safety.

    Pokemon

Pokemon are those powerful, magnificent, magical creatures who come from millions of light years away, the gorgeous PokeWorld. Recently, something tremendous has happened to these intelligent beings and ruined their world. Many sought refugee aboard a shooting comet that plummeted to the EarthWorld; and they had no idea that they'd land on that strange, scary planet, where people began shooting them and persecuting them on the basis of powers they didn't understand or care to get to know. The Pokemon are deeply saddened because a majority of them have begun raging a war against Humans; but a large amount of them simply want peace. Perhaps these sentiments of goodwill wafted off their very skin and sunk into the souls of people capable of saving their world. Who knows...

For right now, most Pokemon of course live on their PokeWorld. They are extremely intelligent beings, many smarter than Humans, and try to keep peace on their broken planet. Some angry Pokemon find themselves on the EarthWorld with no escape from violence, so they have retaliated in turn. Many lie in wait deep underground with Humans, patiently being cared of and also taking care of those who are kind enough to see these creatures for who they are. And there are of course a handful who live on the URPG Space Center, choosing to carve their new lives out there, in the middle of the disaster to come.

*Legendary Pokemon are also very rare and often like to keep away in secret. Many are capable of Earth-shattering destruction and are likely to be killed or threatened on contact for their immense power. The same restrictions for Legendary PokeSouls go for Legendary Pokemon for these reasons.

    Titles, if applicable:

Hunter / Huntress: SO these are the Pokemon who hate all humans, hate all PokeSouls, even sometimes their own kind. For whatever reason, they chose to form packs or travel solo as they aim to take down the next target. Perhaps they are afraid, or misled. Or perhaps they are seeking Human and PS extinction, finding their place on EarthWorld's new survival chain. Maybe they're just mad.

Transcendant: These sagacious Pokemon choose to roam the land, and even space, searching for answers to the dilemma of their world and EarthWorld. Sometimes they are alone; sometimes they lead packs of Pokemon who are just looking for a better solution. They often don't want violence.

Peacekeeper: Peacekeeper are Pokemon who have a predilection for herding other Pokemon and keeping watch over them. Most Peacekeepers are in favor of staying on PokeWorld and moving to spaces on the planet that are the most fruitful for life, even though the spaces are getting slimmer and slimmer...

    THE SODA SHOPPE

If a cosmic string were to be straightened out between the EarthWorld, the PokeWorld, and the URPG Space Center, one would find themselves smack dab in the center of the Universe! Here, a little shop stand no larger than a street vendor cart floats happily in space, and birds and Pidgey flutter up to collect items for interested buyers. There's never really a line, and the shoppe's open 24/7~! This is effectively where you can trade in your P for abilities, items, or URPG currency!

    • P can be exchanged for normal URPG money $$$ that can be used in the PokeMart, etc. However please note that there is no trading URPG $$$ for P; the transaction only goes from P to URPG $$$. This conversion rate is P / .4 ; use URPG Money x .4 to compute how much something would cost in the usual URPG currency.
    • For each in-character post, which must be at minimum of 250 words, the player automatically receives P300.
    • You must be approved by an Official or game staff before you add items or abilities to your stats.
    • You may purchase items, abilities, or rights in advance for a new character you are creating.
    • For each accepted character, the player receives P600 as a welcome gift!
    • Players can purchase items for other players' characters as gifts.
    • P can also be earned through participation in events.
    • All deals are final.

    Order Form:

    • P4,500, lvl 3: This will allow a character to do all the above, as well as manipulate the dream of a character in that night.

    ITEMS

P3,000, EMI Bands: This item for Humans goes on the wrist or ankle like a thin, skin-tight shackle. It stops all sorts of waves from reaching this character and stops this character from sending out messages or any output through technological devices. In a word connected by technology, this is the new prison, an ultimate isolation, complete quiet. People who wear this are seen as deranged or misanthropic. It is the ultimate punishment.

P3,000, Collar: This item for PokeSouls suppresses the Pokemon inside entirely - so you can't use its abilities or any powers. Hair and other physical traits revert back to normal... the voice in the head disappears. The makers claim the effects of this technology are reversible as soon as it comes off, but there might be side effects when in-use. Seen as an embarrassing, degrading necessity for PokeSouls who cannot control their powers.

P3,000, Slippy Tabs: This item for Pokemon goes on the pads of the paws, fingers, etc. Its slippery and bright-pink material makes it so that the Pokemon cannot open the doors to Temple, the ultimate gathering place of all the Pokemon. This is seen as a punishment for Pokemon who are deemed traitors or are otherwise undeserving of Temple's grace.

P3,000, Senzstret Beans: This beans are harvested from Kakuna Tower and completely rejuvenate a character. Each bag has about five beans, and then you'd have to repurchase a new one.

P6,000, Panic! Button: This allows a character to freeze time for a single thirty-second interval. This item takes at least a week to recharge.

P6,000, Healing Hands: This allows a character to heal up to mid-level injuries on another character.

P6,000, Atlas Powers: This allows a character to lift extreme weights for a short period of time.

P6,000, Elemental Dust: This allows a character to imbue their attacks with one of the eighteen Pokemon types. The type must be specified upon purchase. And yes, there is no roll!

P9,000, Hero Cape: This item for Humans increases senses and strength for a five-minute period. While donning this item, this character will be stronger, faster, more aware, and more strategic than they normally were. It's as if this character was hit with all the possible buffs of all the games at once! The effect last for five minutes, and afterwards the character will be extraordinarily tired.

P9,000, Power Belt: This item for PokeSouls unlocks a greater extent of their powers for a five-minute period. While wearing this item, this character will be able to use their innate powers and abilities so naturally it was as if the human side never existed! This effect lasts for five minutes, and afterwards the character will be super pooped.

P9,000, Mega Ring: This item for Pokemon allows this character to Mega Evolve for a five-minute period. In their Mega-Evolution stage, of which all Pokemon can assess, they are incredibly strong. Their physical traits may change in the process, but afterwards the Pokemon will revert to its normal stage. And also be too tired.

    • You also have 3 abilities to begin with: 2 innate abilities and 1 free lvl 1 ability from the Shoppe!
    • If this character is a Pokémon, you also receive 4 moves to start with! Yay! These moves can be any four moves that the Pokémon learns by level-up (so excluding EM's). See the Ultra Dex for more information about what moves Pokémon naturally learn upon level up.

    RULES

    Creating

    1. Please read the URPG Rules before you begin!
    2. Your first two characters can be created whenever you want, but you have to purchase a Character Creation right to make the third one and each one thereafter. Your character receives P600 for simply being created and accepted!
    3. You may create either a Legendary Pokemon or a Legendary PokeSoul, but any more Legendaries that you create thereafter have to be purchased with the right to do so.
    4. Characters are created here, and when they are accepted they are moved here. Please keep track of all of your character's items, abilities, and P in their individual thread.

    Posting

    1. We have a 250-word count minimum for all IC posts. You can have threads where you post less than that amount, but you won't get paid for doing so. Also, all IC posts that are at least 250 words automatically award P300 per post to the character who posted.
    2. God-modding is whenever a character takes control of other characters or basically acts invincible - don't do this if you can! NPC's can do this for a mission's purpose, but otherwise please don't do that.
    3. You cannot kill other peoples' characters. If worse comes to worse, they faint, as they would in the games.
    4. Please tag potentially offensive content at the beginning of the post; additionally, please fade to black if the thread is taking a more graphic direction.

    Threading

    1. This RP follows liquid time - have as many RP threads as you want at any one time, with even one character! We encourage you to RP tons!
    2. The OP cannot RP with the self (ex: cannot have a thread where two characters belonging to one player are posting back and forth without a second player's character in-between).
    3. You can have past and future threads! But the characters must be apparent in each others' respective pasts and futures. Also, the time is static - there's no time traveling (ex: a future event that's being RPed cannot come back and affect the character in the present).
    4. You can have all the silly threads you want! Just because we're in a apocalypse, sci-fi fantasy world, does not mean that everything must be serious. have fun!

Also, the most important rule of all: Platinum: treat others as they want to be treated. <3 This applies for OOC interactions, for IC interactions get as wild as you want hehe

    more coming soon!

    RP WORLDS

    • Space can be accessed from any area! Everyone has their driver's license to the cosmic highway.
    • You have extreme freedom in taking the liberty of describing what an area is like in the year 3015; it's up to your imagination what Sydney looks like now or how demolished Loveland really got when the comet hit it. It's fine if two different threads describe the same location in a totally different way. Las Vegas can be wiped off the face of the Earth in one thread, and still standing in a different thread as an abondoned ghost town. As long as the two players in the same thread are consistent, you're fine!
    • If you would like to RP / thread with a character who lives across the galaxy, ask a staff member and we'll find a way to make it work! (ex: NPC Deoxys swathing two people across the universe onto an empty planet).
    • If you want to RP in an area that's not listed in any of the three subsections for each section, it's totally fine to place that thread outside the board. You are not restricted to the areas described in each subsection.

    The EarthWorld

7 continents and 17 billion people. Talks of nuclear war increased and we had a few scares here or there. But things got better; and in the year 2030, the Earth followed through on its promise to reduce global temperatures to 2°C that it had made in the Paris Climate talks of 2015. In 2050, a bullet tram had been built between New York and Shanghai; giant whale airplanes carried thousands of people across the skies for such an inexpensive price. Hundreds of years passed, and Humans innovated to solve nearly all their problems. The world seemed more interconnected than ever before, and not just physically, either; everyone helped out to reduce global poverty to a history lesson. Scientists of the past predicted that only 10 billion of us could live here, but look at the Earth and its Humans now. We were doing so well, for a while. But what now?...

Subsection: Surface Society - A few brave sectors of society refused to give up on the world they loved so much. And so they remain above ground in an apocalyptic world marred by feral Pokemon out for their blood.

Subsection: The Wild - Feral Pokemon tore down whole cities and in their wake left abandoned areas that nature adopted. Perhaps this is the world's way of punishing Humans for marking almost every bit of nature as society.

Subsection: Underground - Although there's no sky, the underground is basically a mirror version of the safe, comfortable, modernized version of the world before the comet hit Loveland. People carry on makeshift lives in peace down here, setting up shops, sending their children to schools, protected by Guardians.

    The URPG Space Center

The size of a small city. PokeSouls live in houses, most of the time with others they may not even have known. It's not that there's not enough space aboard the broad URPG Space Center for each PokeSoul to have its own home; it's simply that loneliness is a disease lurking outside this hub where the only creatures of their kind gather safely. There is a small semblance of normalcy with shops dotting the place and spaceships parked along the Space Center, but every now and then they are reminded that they but a bubble in the oceanic expanse of space; gravity will act up or you'll look outside your window and see nothing but a deep, deep darkness, saved only by stars surging along a limitless sky.

Subsection: Monbrey's School for Gifted Youngsters - PokeSouls of all ages attend this school to learn how to handle their powers better from Professors. Class size: 30 Students to 1 Professor, no set curriculum, and graduation is based on when the specific PS feels ready.

Subsection: The Inter-National Park - Perhaps the most cherished memory of the EarthWorld, the Inter-National Park is a wide green field graced by the illusion of an endless blue sky above it. This is where PokeSouls play sports, have BBQs, and act like they never left EarthWorld.

Subsection: Underground Chambers - This is where the secret meetings of the Professors and Enforcers take place. It doubles as the location where extremely unruly Legendary PokeSouls who cannot control their powers are locked up.

    The PokeWorld

A world the size of VY Canis Majoris. A haunting planet of unravished beauty and extreme weather conditions. Resources imbued in this planet have capabilities and powers outside of man's imagination. Here, thousands of creatures roam, deftly dodging storms that would obliterate the EarthWorld's very surface and running into pools of water that are bottomless. On the other side of the liquid core of this planet is a softer side, characterized by vast fields, illuminated by purple moons and crescent suns. The Planet itself has mastered the art of Evolution and seems to follow different rules of time and gravity than any other planet, star, or anomaly in our Universe.

Subsection: The Arhaniven Steppe - A wide field where Pokemon communicate with their dead ancestors and brethren. Some may leave with new insights of the world.

Subsection: The Selefeine River - A limitless river that circles the planet with aurora lights perpetually glowing above it. Whole water civilations are found underneath, and those on the surface of the river say that time has become a physical dimension.

Subsection: Temple - An upside-down castle where Pokemon of all kind gather, and their abilities and powers are seemingly also reversed here. The secrets of the Universe are said to be locked away here, within an object in a room in an endless hallway in a 50-story castle.

    STAFF

we need a cool name; game masters?!

    Current Staff:

    Smiles

    Responsibilities:

    • reviewing character applications; moving them when they’ve been accepted; updating the face claim and grand master character list
    • leading missions with NPC’s
    • approving Shoppe items
    • answering questions
    • advertising our RP
    • having fun too!

    Becoming Staff:

Note: Staff applications will only be open when there is a need for staff help. All staff who are hired will be expected to actively fill in their role.

    Staff applications are currently OPEN!

Please private message Smiles for more information.

    Staff Wages:

Staff will have their choice of receiving their compensation in either P or URPG $$$ for each wage period.

    • $1,000 for each IC mission post OR P400

Note: Staff members will lead missions with NPC’s. Their posts must also be at least 250 words minimum, with attention to what everyone else is doing in the thread.

They will not receive P on top of the URPG money they receive for each post. However they are eligible for the OOC Pokemon, TM’s, and any additional items at the end of the mission just like the other players.

    • $1,000 for each advertisement post OR P400

Note: Staff members will be asked to keep track of the places they’ve posted in their logs. They will also be asked to join the boards where they advertise and read their rules to make sure we’re respectfully advertising.

Maximum 10 advertisement posts per pay period. This gives us time to organize where we’ve posted, let our presence settle in, and search for new places to advertise too!

    • $3,000 for general upkeep each payday OR P1,200

Note: this means moving applications, approving them, actively updating things. Since this RP requires more constant update from staff, I think this is reasonable

    FAQ

    Q: What is this?

This is all-original Pokemon apocalyptic sci-fi fantasy / Academy role play! We have all original characters and an animanga face claim system. We are part of the URPG.

    Q: What is the URPG?

The URPG, or Ultra Mega Role-Playing Game, is one of the oldest and coolest Pokemon RPGs out there! It was founded on January 11th, 1999, and since then has been one of the Internet's most precise Pokemon battling simulators. There are sections to capture Pokemon via writing, role-playing, creating art, and participating in contests. Our community's a winner, too!

The URPG is based on three Pokemon forums and has a vibrant AIM and Skype presence. With all things on the URPG, your work is valid on all three forums (ex: if you create your character on the PWN branch, you can role-play that character on the PXR and BMG branch as well! Everything transfers over.) Go far and wide!

    Q: What’s animanga? What’s a face claim?

A face claim is a character in the anime or manga universe who can aesthetically represent your character. You can also claim a character from the game universe, but the icons have to be in an anime style. All face claims and face claim reservations will be found here.

You also don’t need to have a face claim to represent your character, but good places to find face claims to fit your character are here and here. Also feel free to ask for face claim suggestions!

Also, you're completely free to create the art for your character as well! We love the creativity and inspiration behind all original characters!

Q: What characters can I be?

You can play as a Human, a Pokemon, or a PokeSoul (like a human / Pokemon hybrid - a human’s body with a human mind and a Pokemon mind in it).

Q: So is a PokeSoul a PokeMorph, then? Am I shifting from a human to a Pokemon, back-and-forth?

No - think of the PokeSoul emergence in a human as puberty. Changes are gradually made - the human might take on physical traits of the Pokemon whose in its head, like wings or hair color or eye color. This process may go on for months for some, and it may be instantaneous or take just days for others. But once the changes are made, they are irreversible. That human now has a Pokemon in their head along with their normal mind, and still will look primarily human. They will take on the abilities and powers of the Pokemon in their head. They are now known as a PokeSoul.

    Q: Can I be shiny?

Yes, your PokeSoul or Pokemon can be shiny, but there is an item that must be purchased for this to be so. humans are always shiny

    Q: Can I be a legendary?

You certainly can be! You can make either a legendary PokeSoul or a legendary Pokemon character, but just one of the two for no restrictions. Afterwards, you must purchase the right to make a legendary Pokemon right here.

Q: Tell me more about legendaries.

There is one legendary PokeSoul for each Legendary Pokemon out there. So one Mew out there, and one PokeSoul out there somewhere who has the mind of a Mew. They are not related and prolly would not know each other when they meet. Most legendaries are very powerful, and thus most PokeSouls have a very difficult time controlling their powers.

Q: Will a Staff member enter my thread and perform calculations for battles between characters?

No - we are an all-text based role play that operates on realism. If your character is god modding (acting invincible, controlling other characters without permission, etc) then a moderator can step in and end the thread. Otherwise, you’re free to do what you want to do on your own!

Q: If I’m a ghost-type PokeSoul, can’t I just phase through things anyway? or if I’m a Psychic-type PokeSoul, wouldn’t I just be able to communicate telepathically anyway?

PokeSouls, to some extent, have the powers of their Pokemon but not fully. For example, a ghost-type PS would be able to phase through a thin wall for a few seconds at most without updating the skills to do so. A psychic-type PS would have no way of being able to carry out a full conversation telepathically, maybe just a word or few. Imagine a water-type PS being able to swim at a faster pace and farther distance than most normal people, but still becoming tired or fainting at a reasonable distance.

Q: How many abilities do I start off with? How many can I have?

3 abilities to start off with when you enter the RP: two innate abilities (user-created) that start at level 1, and one level 1 ability from the shoppe.

You can buy all of them from the Shoppe! And basically can have as many as you can think of / purchase the right to.

Q: What do you mean by levels for abilities?

Each ability in this role-play will have up to three levels. Each level-up, the ability grows stronger in some way. When creating your ability for the first time at level 1, please specify both 1) what the ability does and 2) a way to measure the extent of that ability's powers.

Q: What are examples of reasonable abilities for each character type?

Rule of thumb: always think along the lines of supernatural but not overpowered. It’s the year 3015; Humans have evolved as a species, and now it’s not uncommon for people to have minor supernatural powers. the PokeSouls have taken on the powers of their Pokemon, and Pokemon were always super powerful to begin with. If you ever have a question on the legitimacy of an ability or want to brainstorm, we’re here to help! Also, this is by no means an exhaustive list.

examples for Humans: Super strength, allowing one to lift a weight of up to one ton for a minute max; being able to talk to animals; being able to heal minor cuts and bruises with the mind; being able to look up to a full day into the future; only needing sleep every other day to be functional. Inspiration places: Superhero wikis!

examples for PokeSouls: a Ditto PS who’s frighteningly good at impersonating others in expression, speech, and body gestures; a Lopunny PS who has surpassed the threshold for normal hearing and can hear a fly’s wings twitch twenty feet away; a Venasaur PS who recharges quickly when in the sunlight. Abilities can also be negative: ex, a Zubat PS who’s steadily gone blind because Zubat don’t see with their eyes.

examples for Pokemon: a good starting place is to translate their in-game ability to a real-world ability. ex: a Pokemon who has flame body and can literally cloak themselves in flames for an hour ok bad example but! Inspiration places: the PokeDex

Q: Do I have to start out at the first level of evolution?

Nope! You can start at the Baby form of the Pokemon or come into the RP completely evolved already. Or whatever’s in-between. Up to you!

Q: How does being the child of a PokeSoul or two PokeSoul parents work? Would the baby be a PokeSoul?

Keep in mind that this RP takes place ten years after PokeSouls first started emerging, so unless a character is ten years old or younger he or she prolly wouldn't have PokeSoul parents. But a whole family can end up becoming PokeSouls!

In terms of future-based events and missions (remember that you can certainly role-play in the future!), a PokeSoul child must have at least 1 PokeSoul parent. The gene would be imbued in the DNA and passed along through generations, and the child would most likely start off at the baby form of a Pokemon with a similar typing to the parents. This is very, very flexible! Perhaps a child can have a PS parent or both and not have the gene at all. Remember this is very new phenomena for humans and Pokemon alike.

Q: If I’m a Pokemon or a PokeSoul, can I evolve? Is there a process, or do I need to buy an item for it?

Absolutely you can evolve! And no, you don’t need to purchase an item in the store to evolve, even if your character requires an evolutionary item in-game. You can role-play out the transition, and it’s up to you how the voice in your character’s head changes or what new abilities, struggles, or joys your character discovers as a result of evolution.

However if your character receives new abilities, they must be approved first by a staff member (send one of us a quick message to look over the idea), and then added onto your character’s stat page. The old two innate abilities from the past evolution disappear. (unless an ability was purchased - if so, then it stays).

    Exception: Mega-Evolution!

Q: How does Mega Evolution work?

In this role play, every Pokemon (exempting Legendaries) can Mega Evolve. What they look like or what new abilities they have is up to the player's imagination! When they do this, they receive boosted stats, powers, and abilities for a five-minute period before reverting back to their normal stage. This takes a lot of effort for Pokemon and should not be overused.

To access Mega Evolution, a Pokemon must purchase a Mega Ring from the Shoppe. No extra item is needed outside of that ring!

Q: What four moves can my Pokemon character start with?

Your Pokemon character can start with any four moves that it would learn naturally by level up. This means it cannot start with knowing any EM moves or taught moves; however, these moves can be purchased in the Shoppe for P900. Please see the Ultra Dex for more information about what moves a Pokemon would know by level-up.

Q: Is there a cap of Pokemon or PokeSouls that can be created?

For each Legendary, there is only one Pokemon and one PokeSoul. Otherwise, there’s no limit - so yes, you and your friends can make a family of Eevee c:

Q: Can I be a manmade Pokemon or PokeSoul? (ex: Mewtwo, Porygon-Z?)

    YES.

    Q: Can I be MissingNo?

    YES!

Q: I just got accepted into the role play! What now?

Yay! Congratulations, and welcome on in! Plan plots with the characters in this board, or join in on the newest mission here!

Also feel free to talk to other characters via AIM or Skype!

    Q: I HAS IDEA FOR A MISSION!

AWESOME! Send it to us, and we’ll prolly play through it! You will also be rewarded for your idea!

    Example Mission Post

thread would be titled Journey of Justice! (Hard Mission - Humans and PokeSouls Assemble!)

    [IMG][IMG]
//twenty-eight, Gengar & Clefable PokeSoul, Professor
Telepathy lvl. 3, Summoning lvl. 3

Eight years. Eight years rolled by as one permanent day, saccharine in its bright promise for resolution. Hesther rolled out of her bed, watching stars shoot along the sky and puncture the darkness. Tomorrow, a new mission would begin and she would lead it, taking responsibility for the lives of the Humans and PokeSouls who assembled at the Space Center. She threw the fresh cup of coffee she made on her tile floor, not watching as the liquid ravenously jumped out to consume every inch of clean tile. A shatter of porcelain that no one could hear. She was responsible for all of their lives. Yet she was one of the only ones here who chose to live alone, isolating herself from other lives as much as she could. Eight years since she lost her wife and child. She had thought she was too young then; and now she felt like the oldest soul the universe would ever seen.

“They’re out there somewhere, and we’ll see them. I know we will,” a kind voice nearly sung to her from the top of her mind. Hesther’s eyes darkened to magenta. She watched the boiling liquid continue to spread out, staining her tile. Her bare toes wriggled as the liquid seeped into the white lines. “They’re dead. They’ve been dead. You saw them die. Don’t let the stupid one control you,” another voice shot from a dark depth. Listening to either Clefable or Gengar was like hearing a backwards song playing with different parts sounding from either ear piece. And just like music that played from a headset, she easily took the pieces off and shut up both voices with a slight facial change. Both Pokémon scrambled to the edge of her mind, in tandem to each other, never able to touch or speak to one another.

She blinked again, and this time one of her eyes flashed mauve while the other stayed its magenta shade. With a smile on her face, she bounded upstairs to prepare for the day. Alone in this enormous house. The coffee snaked its way to the corners where it ultimately froze.

The easiest way to live was to forget. And she forgot about who she was eight years ago every time she swept into the grandeur halls of Monbrey’s School. Here, she was Hesther Lane, a top Professor. She sent students off to other planets and watched them return with new treasures. She helped build this school when she found out that she could control either Pokémon inside rather easily. She never quite built the empathy needed to understand why PokeSouls needed instruction in the first place; if they couldn’t control the beast inside, wasn’t the human side already dead? Yes, already dead indeed. But they were lucky to have her, she knew. And when she own life ended, she would retell this story starting from that point eight years ago. They would remember her as a Savior.

“The plan is simple. We journey to the PokeWorld and rescue the Enforcers who’ve gotten caught up in the Arhaniven Steppe. It’ll certainly be a rough journey there. We’ll make stops along the way to scout out the planets Haiven and Trile.” Her eyes darkened to black as she looked at the Students sitting in front of her. “You special PokeSouls and Humans were chosen and brought here for a reason. And if you mess up out there, you die, and no one will save you.” She blinked, not knowing when her eyes lightened to magenta again. “We leave tonight. Gather your things and return here at 19:00.” She smiled, turning her back to the Students and peering out of the wall-sized window to space.

    NPC Note:
    - mission requires 25 posts each from at least 4 characters; one character per player
    - this mission is open to Humans and PokeSouls!
    - post order: everyone must post before Hesth posts again

    End Prize Package:
    - IC: any ability to its next level; P3,000 on top of normal money one would receive from posting
    - OOC: 3 TM's + a Hard Pokemon of your choosing

    Mission Progress: 0%

This is amazing, Smiles, really glad to see interest in expanding the RP aspect of URPG to keep it true to its namesake. I'm not going to tell you I read everything (it's a lot to take in at once; but I'll get to it!), but from what I can see you have a really well thought out and highly developed idea here that I would love to see implemented and tweaked until it's officially rolled out. I know I said this before, but we do need quite a lot of extra man-power to roll out and maintain a new section, so I really hope people come through and help out with this, because I have a feeling it will pay off. Thanks for all your work, Smiles!! :D

Thanks so much for the support, Swiftie and Harry! <333 I really hope there are people who want to help support and run this thing too. (AND ALSO PROTO AND ELY AND LOVE, THEY ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL AND WONDERFUL PEOPLE TOO HEUHEU)

I added some stuff in the shop, and clarified abilities so hopefully all the character types are balanced!

I know this is a lot to read. I'm really appreciative for those who do and support this - keep in mind it's a whole section in a thread, minus the role-playing parts of course. It's supposed to be really immersive and appeal to anyone who likes Pokemon, or apocalypse / scifi / fantasy / academy RPs, so hopefully!

This is focused on role-playing and not acquiring mons or becoming better suited for battle. I think this is what will revitalize the URPG. One of the outreach solutions. Little brother to the National Park and hopefully a compliment to the other sections. We were working so hard this time last year to find solutions to bring in new members and brighten things up and then... I just think there's a golden niche of role-players out there, and if we can tap into that potential!

Also, there's going to be TM's and Pokemon in the shoppe for people who do like building up their OOC battling game. But ultimately you don't have to RP here for the main purpose of getting mons or refining the battling game - there are character abilities and items here that are here for just plain fun in the RP.

At the risk of sounding arrogant, I think this is so close to being done. If we all put in an idea here or there, something we like or really don't like, we'll be that much closer. Or if people really don't like it, we can let this die. I'd rather have screaming than silence haha.

Also! neat facts: a 250-word post is basically the equivalent of a medium-large paragraph. And 250 words ~ 1,300 characters! Each post is worth P300. Keep in mind that 250 words is the bare minimum. the mission post above was ~600/700 words.

So going off that, I did the calculations for Pokemon worth in the shoppe based off the higher end of their MCR. so I propose that:

    Simple Pokemon - P3,000
    Medium Pokemon- P4,500
    Hard Pokemon - P6,000
    Complex Pokemon - P9,000

haven't looked at specific Pokemon or TM's yet, but suggestions are always welcome!

I endorse this thread that I found way too confusing to read fully.

Gimme a tl;dr in 25 words or less.

    lol Neo forever

Okay, sorry, finally got my thoughts together. You've done so much already o_O It's fantastic!

=Some of the abilities don't seem on par with each other/progressing properly. IE, LVL 3 Telepathy seems about as useful as LVL 2 would be (unless there's a ton of characters in space with no phones?), while the jump between LVL 3 Summoning and LVL 2 Summoning seems a lot more, uh, drastic, I guess? Idk, having them at equal prices for each of the levels is probably the easiest way, but it also puts some abilities at the same cost as others when they might not have the same amount of utility.
=On that note, maybe have a slot for people to submit their own abilities, subject to mod-approval? All of the ones listed seem pretty psychic-based, but maybe there's a Charizard Pokesoul hi monbrey who wants to upgrade to fire-breathing or something? Or is this not in the scope of the RP we could be on different pages here
=This backstory is ridiculously beautiful. It should be a movie or something. I just figured I should say that somewhere.
=Maybe staff can choose to be paid in P (not necessarily 1:1, for fairness)? It's been forever, but I thought Contest Judges could choose to be paid in CC if they wanted, but I'm not sure.
=Can I sign up to help/be staff/somehow catch this crazy train
=As much as I love the idea, I think that having 4 people for a Hard Mission is going to be rough starting off--two-person Park runs can take literal years to complete. :(
    =Seriously, you are amazing

can't type all questions now gotta run but this is faaaab

I will so volunteer as staff for this and stay on if it becomes fully realized.

That being said... can we keep journals for our characters somewhere IC? Or will that be in our own personal stats along with other URPG things?

Pokemon invade Earth and fight people, humans are born with Pokemon inside, you RP as one of them. Posts = level ups and URPG things.
