Trial Mission 2.0

“Great job on the Double Team, good idea!” Evan called. “Leo, Kyle, let’s see if we can’t drive them off without injuring them too much!”

"We'll see!" I muttered. I agreed with him, but I wasn't going to let my guard down. These are wild Pokemon and this type of Pokemon is known to be territorial. Being in its home meant we had to be extra careful. I wasn't too worried about hurting them, I was worried about what they would do to us to defend their hoe. This was going to be a challenge, but nothing we couldn't handle. We had been in tougher situations before.

"Shadow, move foward a bit. Keep your eyes on it and power up with Nasty Plot. I'll let them make the first move before we attack. See if we can get out of this peacefully." I knew that wasn't going to happen, but there was no harm in hoping. Those Poochyena didn't look like they wanted to reason, at least not at the moment. If we could save that man and fend them off without doing much damage to their home, I'd be happy.

Evan winced in sympathetic pain as the two Poochyena attacked his partner, unerringly striking their target through the waves of duplicate images. Cracked flakes of carapace sprayed from the Poochyena that sunk its fangs into his leg.

“Scyther!” he cried. “Hang in there, buddy, I’m coming!”

Evan charged forward down the grassy slope, around the trunk of a tree on the hill, and skidded to a stop once he reached flat ground again. He realized that he wasn’t going to make it to his friend before the Poochyena tore into him again. “Guys, this isn’t working! They’re not going to flee unless they’re actually scared of us. Scyther, when you get the chance, X-Scissor at ten o’clock!”

Shadow powered up with Nasty Plot, upping his special attack. With that, moves like Ember and Flamethrower would do some major damage. Shadow counldn't dodge the incoming Mud-Slap attack from the Poochyena. The attack wasn't very strong, but it sure did bring its after effect. With Shadow's accuracy down, he was going to have to be more precise with his attacks.

"Don't worry Shadow, I got your back." I called out, walking towards him. "As soon as you get a lock on, hit it with Flamethrower. Try to drive them back."

Knowing that the battle was upon us, Kyle needed to take inventory of their surroundings. The most obvious thing was the wounded man that they were defending. Seeing an opportunity to discover what happened in the first place to make the pack so angry. The man was the first person here, so he probably knew.

Kyle walked a little bit of the ways to the man before stopping. It could be dangerous to attract too much attention to himself. He didn't know if Poocheyna could jump, but it is better to be safe than sorry.

Scyther spared a brief glance at his trainer. He couldn’t stand much more of these attacks, and cheered when he saw Evan holding a Potion and running towards him. Confident that his partner would get to him in time, he crossed his scythe-like claws before him and spread his wings. They began to let out an ominous buzz, and he sidestepped another lunge from the Poochyena in front of him.

He let out a screech that was as much felt as heard, both from frustration and the psychological effect it had on his opponents. Leaping forward quickly, he slashed his claws at the small Pokémon before him, trying to injure it enough that it was taken out of the fight.

As the battle raged on, both sides were being damaged. Leo's Scyther had been hit hard by several attacks and one Poocheyna had run away after being attacked by the Scyther's X-Scissor. The battle was turning in our favor, but I knew I had to secure it to win.

"Magneton, move over to let the hound out and then attack!"

If this were to work, Magneton would fire a blast of steel-type energy at the oncoming attackers while, at the same time, letting Houndour have a chance at attacking the Poocheyna.

"Alright Shadow, time to impress." I called out. The battlefield was a wide area. The only high ground was behind us and towards the end of the field, and none of the Pokemon were near that area. Shadow had a slight advantage against these Poochyena, he was a hell of a lot faster than them. Those Poochyena were only Dark type, Shadow was Dark type and Fire type, so there was a bit of an advantage there again.

Klye's Magneton and my Shadow did neutral damage to the Poochyena group, Evan's Scyther was the one who could deal the most damage since he had moves that would do a good amount of damage to the lot. Right now, we were outnumbered. My guess was that we were both fighting for the same goal, to protect something. They were protecting their home, and we were protecting this random defensless guy. I wondered why he came out here without any Pokemon, but that was a question for another time.

"Shadow, hit that Poochyena there hard with Flamethrower." I called out. "I'd normally tell you to hold back, but seeing that we are outnumbered, we can't take any chances."

"Scyther, we have to win this one!" Evan cried as he ran towards his partner. Spraying the Potion onto the worst of the scrapes and bites, he was happy to see the Mantis Pokemon's natural healing accelerate in those areas. The green chitin mended, once more hiding the red flesh underneath, and though Evan knew it would be weak for a few hours, his Scyther should be fine.

He smiled at his friend. "Now, get over there and save that guy! Use another X-Scissor on that Poochyena!" he said, pointing to the one that had chosen to attack the wounded man.

(OOC: Evan moves to G7 and uses a Potion on Scyther. I hope that they heal more than 20 points, if we’re using level 100 stats. Are we going with percentages?)

 

OOC: Yeah, we haven't figured out an item list yet, I forgot that. But sure, we'll rock 20% for this test Mission.

I saw Evan healing up his Scyther and knew it was time I did the same. Shadow had already taken on a lot of damage. It appeared he was now fighting with less than fifty percent of his power, which wasn’t good if we actually wanted to save the man and win. I quickly pulled out a small Potion and moved behind Shadow, making sure I didn’t get hit by the Poochyena’s wild attacks. I was released the substance from the bottle and onto Shadow’s body. I could see the wounds on his body slowly begin to heal. They weren’t fully healed and this Potion didn’t fully do the trick, but for now it was going to have to be adequate enough for the remainder of the battle until I can get him to the Pokémon Center to get fully and properly healed.

“You okay boy?” I asked Shadow as I saw him begin to smile. I then knew he was back up and ready to kick more ass. “Alright, let’s not back down yet. Keep on using Flamethrower on that Poochyena, whatever you do, don’t let it out of your sights. Also, play it safe this time. We can take them.”

I glanced around quickly, sizing up the situation. One Poocheyna was left for each of us to take out. Evan and Leo had healed their Pokemon with a Potion each, putting them at a stronger fighting position. Leo's Houndour was taking one Pooch, my Magneton was taking another, but there was one left and it was attacking the already-wounded man. That wasn't good. I had to help.

"Magneton, you're doing great!" I called out. "Keep it up!"

Then, I dashed over behind the man and his assailant Poocheyna, ready to render aid. But then I started to think harder. Potions only worked on Pokemon as far as I could tell. How would I know that they wouldn't inflame the man's injuries?

"Evan?" Could you get your Scyther to attack that Poocheyna? I need to give first aid to the man," I said. Then, I turned to the man. "Sir? Are you all right?"

((Kyle moves to H10, uses Wilderness Survival skill (?) to render first aid on the man.))

 

OOC: Lol, nice try. Although, perhaps that could be implemented for future runs - Wilderness Survival can be used to heal humans. Interesting idea.
