I would very much like an area where you can write about your character going about his/her usual routine--not battling, exploring the park, or catching Pokemon. Is this possible at all?

Yea I've noticed that too. It would be an interesting prospect to do a meet and greet in the forums. Lord knows every RPG buff would be all over it, and it could potentially bring in a whole bunch of new players to an otherwise limited community :/

Not to mention a great way to find rivals/friends/enemies, all in RP form of course.

Sounds cool. I think it's a great idea, and one I've hoped would be added on since I started.

I can definitely see this implemented as just a regular URPG RP, it would attract members and give members more things to do in URPG. I think having lots of things to do is pretty important.

It's definitely possible and I think it could work too, up to officials and mods and whatnot to approve it and set it up though.

I like this, you can have a chain saw which I just used to kill my family with as a reward. :7up:

This is exactly what I was thinking about and this is a definite "YES!" from my side.

I'd enjoy this a bit, too. It has my vote, if such a thing counts.

I would love this. This way, a VERY loose plot can happen, or we can all have something to do while we wait on someone to post in a battle, or the national park.

Okay then. If this idea is to work, there needs to be a formal way of setting it up and figuring out where it goes.

So far, we have a very general concept of what everyone wants. Will this be individual threads or a single thread? Would this be considered an RP or something else entirely? How different would this be than someone simply writing a story or summary describing their routine?

Where would this go? If it's an RP, the Park makes sense, unless it takes place outside of the Park. A story belongs in Stories. Or perhaps in the General Board?

Let's discuss some more details and see what we can do.

If they were individual threads, there'd basically be no interaction between them all. If it was all one thread, everyone would be posting in chaos, responding to posts after 4 or 5 more have been made. (assuming there's popularity.) I'd say start it as a single thread as an experiment; if it grows too large, we can break it down by character's residing region.

I would say consider it as RP; my posts would change style based on other posts, but would probably be third person present tenses, describing my characters actions and talking about my day/capture/battle/etc.

Perhaps the setting could simply be a trainer clubhouse, much like the Trainer House in Viridian City, and we all sort of hang out there like vagrants.

As for which board; general sounds the best so far, since it wouldn't fit so well in stories, and wouldn't take place in the Park.

I agree with what you're saying, but I believe that the best way to handle it is to create an off-topic roleplaying sub board. General is just that, too general to house something like that.

A new sub-board would for one thing help to emphasize the whole RP element around here, because just tossing it in an obscure board kinda gives it that 'hole in the wall' feel. I think that if you make it, they will come.

And second, I think a good second reason for the whole RP thing is to attract more people, so if we make it clear that there's a new, off topic RP that's not objective based (like everything else around here) It'd definately get the wheel rolling

I didn't know a request for a sub-forum would even be considered. I toned down my suggestions to a) what I thought would be possible and b) what I didn't think would be too impudent coming from a relative newbie.

An RP I was in not too long ago was based around the idea of people fleshing out their character's stories and writing together. It also included a a complex meta-plot that had an effect on the whole world of the RP. Perhaps a similar thing could work here. Stories wouldn't be a bad idea as a spot for it.

Offer incentive for good work, for example if instead of them writing a story to catch a pokemon they write a story about their character doing something with their pokemon they could be awarded a small amount of cash or perhaps an item or something based on how well written it is.

There are plenty of good ways this could be implemented, and it would certainly give people who love to roleplay something more to do. Collaborative writing would be awesome to. Two or more trainers do something together. Perhaps have a battle, not in the way normal battles are done, but rather just a friendly rp'd battle with less number crunching and more creative writing wiggle room. Of course, it would need to be made clear that these kinds of battles don't count for evolution purposes and you wouldn't get money for them.

    Just a few ideas.

I think that this is a great idea, and that it should take the form of an RP, but unless it actually takes place in the Park proper, I don't think it should be housed there.

I liked evanfarderamer's idea of putting it in the Trainer House or something similar.

I love that idea. Especially the part about character interaction within stories. That would make things so much more appealing. Although it would be a little interesting to figure out how to police that, I mean, would you need consent with the creator of the thread? Or just kinda jump in and start rping with them?

And I get what you're saying, we may not even need to make a new off topic RP, it may just be that we should expand the limitations of the things we can do right now, and if that still isn't enough we can jump in and make one or whatever
