Pummelo Island Gym

Hi. So I was looking over the OI gym rules and in my opinion the "special rule" for Pummelo doesn't really do anything at all that affects the battles. The rules for the Orange Islands' gyms are designed to test a trainer's ability to battle in unusual circumstances. Mikan forces you to use all Water-types, Navel picks your mons for you, and Kumquat forces you to use pre-determined types. Pummelo, however, only changes the terrain of the battle ONCE, halfway through. I talked to someone else about this and they agreed. The rule seems really boring, considering VERY few moves are affected by terrain, and that most battlers don't even take it into consideration when making rules. To me, it seems like Pummelo in its current state is more or less a standard 6v6. Inb4 tl;dr.

There are a few ideas floating around about possible rule changes. Here's what we came up with:

Option 1:
6v6, No two Pokemon can have a common type on the same team: This means basically you can't have any two Flying types in your lineup for example. Every mon would have to have a totally unique type. So for instance, Dragonite and Togekiss couldn't be on the same team. Of course, the leader could still have more than one of each type on his or her team, they just couldn't use them in the same battle.

Option 2:
Weather changes after each KO: Means exactly what it says. Every time a Pokemon faints, the weather is randomly rolled again.

Option 3:
Leader can use the rules of any OI gym of his/her choice barring Mikan

Yeah that's all I can think of now. But yeah, discuss, provide more rules, whatever. Hell, it doesn't even have to change, I just thought that Pummelo's special rule was kinda stale to essentially be the OI champ battle.

 

I like both options 1 and 2. If you held a knife to my throat and threatened to defenestrate me, I'd choose option 1.

Also, I like Option 2. It's at least similar to what they did in the anime and I think that that has to come into play. Also, it just sounds cool. Maybe not after each KO, but either way I think it's great.

 

Seems a little extreme for a children's card game. Then again, maybe I'm just saying that cause I'd prefer to do that on top of a really tall skyscraper.



In seriousness though, I like both ideas 1 and 2, but if I had to just pick one of them then I'd go with option 1.

Nooo go with Option 2, Option 2 is awesome. OR COMBINE THEM. Yes, combine them, that's awesome. But not after every KO, do it like halfway through, yeah! But Option 2 is awesome.
