No it wouldn't. How would it harm them anymore than now? You can still buy Lapras when it's a demanding pokemon apparently. And it's not like people can stock up on all the Pokemon during each rotation. They won't have that much money and people don't buy pokemon like Seel now anyway.

You could have like different towns, and each one had different Pokemon. Having random pokemon somebody chose has never made sense, a rotation would be a perfectly good choice.

You realize that probably the best three Pokemon are already in the mart.

    Salamence, Infernape, Togekiss

Hmm I don't know, maybe having the occasional Park Mons in the Mart, reducing in visits there? And maybe having the occasional good Mons (Horsea and co.) that are acquired through stories being thrown in there? Obviously those would hinder the amount of stories being written and the amount of RPs being made. Graders and Rangers wouldn't be too happy with that now would they.

I think there shouldn't be any new additions once everything is established for a generation. It diminishes any rarities that are already established, and Pokemon, to its core, is about collecting (Gotta' Catch 'em All). Not everything should be made available because there is a high demand, if we want to protect its value.

You can't buy those in the mart. :p

Besides, when Black & White is released, we'll be adding a whole new set of Pokemon to the mart!

But that's like a year away, unless you'll let us play with 'Mons before the English release. :p

Why would you even want to buy Pokemon from the Mart? In my opinion, it takes the fun out of the URPG experience!

...Unless you have writer's block. Then, it's awesome. xD

In response to this thread's idea, I agree with most people when I say that Scyther is in the Complex category for a reason. But really, if you want one, writing a Complex story doesn't take years. Just write some successful stories for the categories before it as practice, and use the feedback you've received from those when you write the story for Scyther.

And don't kid yourself if you don't think you can write a Complex story! That's what Graders are for; we tell you what you're doing wrong so that you can correct it, and we can give you your Pokemon. Complex Grades tend to be more expansive and detailed than most other Grades, as well, so you'll know exactly what you need to correct for next time.

    I won't comment on the rotation thing, because rotational selections of items drove me away from my favorite grocery store recently, so I'd be kind of biased on the subject. ^^;

I think certain Pokemon should be added like Machop, Slakoth and Burmy.

There are several variables that are taken into account when deciding who goes into the Mart, not just power or usefulness and contrary to belief, there is a pattern.

At this time, we aren't looking to change the Mart at all, it's perfectly fine the way it is.

3 starters, pseudo-legends, fossils, bird that you can catch early in the game, and most of the other Pokemon available very early in the game.

Then are the rest of the mons just random selections?

Its kind of funny that this thread is requesting to add Syther to the market, while just a few threads down, is a request to ban syther.

From what the older URPG leaders have told me, the Mart Pokemon are chosen based on factors such as if you can buy them in the game itself. So for this includes some places like the Game Corner when pokemon could be purchased for a small (or not so small) fee.

But you could buy Porygon in the R/B/Y games. Not saying you should be able to buy Porygon in this... but just pointing that out.

Even if you had Porygon costing 20K, people would still buy it. I know I would, as Porygon-Z is very rare and is a really good Pokemon.

Now, back to Scyther. I think you should have it be an event every once in awhile, so that people could get it, but it would cost them plenty and it would be rare.
I also think that there should be several events throughout the year, like in the winter Ice types cost 50% of their normal cost, and there are more Ice types in the Mart. In the spring, it could be grass, summer with fire, and autumn with... I dunno. But I think you can see what I mean.

    I don't.

I think we should have rotations in the mart based on pokemon that are the same value as the ones already in there. Yes, such as Buneary, or Magikarp, or Vulpix, etc.

Scyther is well above all those mons though.

And Alonzo, no, when you rotate mons you have those mons and then you'd have to write stories for the other mons that were in the mart before that you didn't/couldn't buy. Once you get it going it wouldn't hurt it anymore than it does now, which obviously isn't much at all.

Seriously, there is no pattern in the mart except for the ones already mentioned. And if there is baby I would love to hear them. Porygon can be bought in the games but you can't buy it in URPG yeah? Same with Magikarp. Also where do mons like Skorupi and Seel fit into this? Nowhere at all, it's just random. Rotation or randomization would be a much better system and it wouldn't be different from the games. I mean once you get to a new town, there are different things in the Pokemart.

I vote Dunsparce and/or Skitty on the Market!

-I believe that Dunsparce doesn't need a story to write for as It isn't worth the work one of the critically-acclaimed "worst pokemon"

    And

-Skitty, a moon-stone pokemon, should be on the market. Many others who evolve similarly like it (Cleffa, Iggly, Nidorans) have similar evolution paths
