    How to Achieve Your Dreams
but only the ones that involve selling your soul to URPG in exchange for money free of government taxes
    and alternately
Every good professional must climb a mountain to reach the pot of gold!
    and…
Give us cookies—we’ll teach you stuff.
    ST says:
    Gotta teach ‘em all!
Because he’s un-manly like that. And has pink toe nails.
    Insert yours here

A demand for qualified, efficient URPG officials always rears its head in times of high activity. There are never quite enough people, and those few people are never capable of quite enough tasks to satiate current demand. Right now, the demand is higher than it has been in quite awhile. We’re now running an official “learn to do *fill in the blank* with the help of a mentor or six” program, and this would be the signup. Within, you will find a run-down of each position, links to the materials you’ll need, explanations of the requirements to achieve the position, and signups for classes (only for reffing, at this point) and tutoring (which is available for all branches).

A note for aspiring people: If you feel like hedging your profits, keep in mind that rangers and graders are most in demand, and tend to get the largest paychecks. ;)

For the purposes of this program, I'll leave it up to the tutors and the pupils to contact each other. Pupils are encouraged to get as much help from as many tutors as they need, and to move through training as quickly as possible. In fact, if you want to start on the qualification quizzes right away (without necessarily a huge amount of help), you should do so. Your pass/fail experience will give us a better idea of what to work on with you.

    BECOMING A REFEREE

You know your way around battling? Do you want the opportunity to be on the front lines of battles between talented URPG members and observe new strategies? Do you read miscellaneous Smogon pages for fun? Do you wear mismatching socks? Do you memorize move BPs in your free time? DO YOU DEVOTE YOUR LIFE TO CALCULATING STATISTICS AND PLUGGING NUMBERS INTO COMPLEX MATHEMATICAL FORMULAS?

If you do, good for you. If not, ‘sall good, because none of these are actually necessary to become a ref (except maybe the socks part). Anyone can become a referee if they’re willing to put their work into it (not just the creepers who can’t match their socks). Referees are the folks who know all the rules, and organize your battles to make sure they are abided by. To be a good referee entails a good deal of knowledge as to the rules of battle, and a good deal of dedication to seeking out what will aid you in your task. You’ll need to know everything from weather affects to when #HP is used instead of %HP and to item purposes. It’s a learning process, and we’re more than willing to teach you.

    -Materials-

    The Reffing Encyclopedia
    How To Become a Referee
    Reffing Calculator

Our tutors will have an easier time if you’ve familiarized yourselves with the contents of these links.

Remember that in order to be accepted as a referee, you must first pass the Ref Quiz, then pass an additional scenario-based Ref Test.

    -Classes-

Official refereeing classes will be organized on the weekend. This weekend’s are in flux, but will likely be around Sunday afternoon (in GMT-7). These will be aimed specifically at getting the newbies of the program situated. Here, you will be introduced to the basics of operating DarkUmbreon’s calculator, and the information you will need to know to properly referee.

Instructors: Marth, currently; anyone else who’s interested, drop me a PM or IM

    BECOMING A GRADER

Being a grader means getting paid to give people helpful feedback on their stories. And as a grader, the higher quality feedback you give, the more you will get paid. But of course, money is only a motivational factor; strong grading comes from the grader’s own desire to both learn and help others learn about storywriting. Grading is not meant to be the epitome of all storywriting knowledge. Grading itself is also meant to be a further learning experience, once you have already acquired a certain level of knowledge about writing. And that latter part is exactly what this program is meant to help you with. (Galleon, Head Grader)

    AIM: (La)
    Time Zone: (La)
Past Experience: (Be somewhat coherent about it, I suppose)
Committee of Choice: (Reffing, Grading, Rangering, Judging)

    -Materials-

The theoretical everything you’re supposed to know about grading
    The Grader Test

Ignore the list about asking the head grader to be a grader. You can’t actually do that. Passing the test is a requirement. The basic process would be... A) Take the test, B) Send it to Phantom Kat or Galleon, and C) Await results.

    -Classes-

Any and all advice given to graders is more discussion-based, and is probably undertaken more efficiently via PM than IM, simply because it allows for more thorough thoughts. Organized classes might later be set up for the honing of grammar skills, if there’s a need for it… but until then, teaching will remain entirely between individuals.

    BECOMING A RANGER

What it means and what it takes (Dog of Hellsing, Park Leader)

The Rangers you see guiding Trainers through the National Park didn’t magically get to be where they are now. They worked hard to achieve their positions, honing abilities they already had and in many cases learning new ones from scratch.

Being a Ranger means several different things. It means having a solid grasp on how to RP. It means being creative and different with your ideas. It means being friendly and helpful, leading and coaching instead of mocking and being mean. It also means responsibility to your Trainers, and a duty to uphold the Park’s rules (as well as those as the forum rules in general). It means being a leader and a role model, someone others can look up to, someone to inspire others to rise up and join the ranks of the Ranger.

If you want to be a Ranger, read the previous paragraph again, and then again after that. These are the qualities you should have if you want to be a Ranger. If you find yourself lacking in any area, or perhaps not quite as good at something as you feel you should, don’t hesitate to ask anyone for help. There’s no shame in getting assistance from someone, only shame in being too headstrong or arrogant to ask. Rangers are here to not only guide Trainers through the Park, but also help them to become Rangers as well, thus ensuring the continued success of the Park.

    How to Become a Ranger
    The Ranger Quiz

You hafta pass the quiz to become a Ranger. As with reffing, you should be familiar with the contents of the main encyclopedia topic.

    -Classes-

    These are being negotiated.

    BECOMING A JUDGE

Do you want to be the one to evaluate Beauty, Cool, Smart? Do you want to rate the effectiveness of Coordinators’ strategies and training? If yes, click the box below and input your credit card information, social security number, address, and favorite brand of chips to receive your free informational packet. Um. Or you can just give us your AIM and tell us you want to be on the list. Judging involves work more akin to reffing than rangering or grading. Like battles, contests are held via AIM and the forum. You will direct the proceedings, and HAVE FUN DOING SO.

For a while I was a grader in the Halcyon Days Bleach RP, as well as on their Application Staff. Both of which required reading and advice giving in a similar matter to the grading here.

As for referee, since they are in demand I am more than willing to learn how to be a ref and assist where needed.

I am great with numbers *In college Calculus right now in high school*, a grammar nazi *College level English+one of my favorite teachers was an english teacher who drove the basics of grading papers down my throat* and I REALLY love RPing, so I would love to be a ranger.
