    So I was wondering:

You know how we have a Grand Festival every year in the Contests section? I was wondering if we had a battle equivalent like the URPG Conference or something? If not, I think it would be a good idea. We could, maybe, set a requirement to be able to join.

We could have like a general bracket tournament and the winner got some nice little reward or emblem or something. That would be pretty nice to do once a year.

Anyways, sorry if I asked this in the world place, or if it's already been asked or done. I just thought this would be a really cool event to have.

    Your thoughts?

We don't do it every year. This is the first time. And the equivalent to a Forum Festival is a Forum FFA, by the way.

Oh, since this is my first year in the URPG, which has been fun by the way, I thought it was done every year.

Also, I'm not really talking about an FFA per se, but rather a bracket-style tournament. I think it would be a pretty fun addition to the URPG.

Yes but so far all of these have been in PE2K, apart from the team war thingy, which has slowed down a lot...

Maybe because the gym tourney is held like around the end of a year and URPG only started in BMG this April. Forum FFA already happened here though, so ...

I'm not completely apposed to a generic tournament instead of something like the battle factory.

So, just the Gym Leaders can participate? Is there any role the regular trainers play in it?

Tournaments can be a fairly common thing. If you have a good idea for a tournament, you can put together the details. If an official approves, you can host the tournament.

I got an idea for a tournament.

    Rules:
-Generic Knock Out Tournament. Basically, you lose=you're out
-When you sign up, every person must select up to six 6 (minimum of three) Pokemon. These are the only Pokemon that can be used throughout the tournament.
-Stock Battle rules are 3v3, Revo, Holds Off, Freeze, Sleep, OHKO Clause, Normal Weather & Terrain. Holds can be turned on if both agree.
-As a special rule, battlers are only allowed to use ONE pokemon that rank as Uber/OU/BL per battle. So the other two must be UU/NU. NFE's can be classed as NU. So teams can be anything from 6 NU/UU Pokemon to 4 Uber/OU and 2 UU/NU.

    Prizes:
-If your out First Round, you get 1000. 2nd Round, 2000 Etc... These numbers can be altered depending on how many people enter.
    -Pokemon/TM prizes for top 4

Whaddya guys think? I think there should be a cap as to how many people can enter, to stop it from going over board.

Sounds like a good idea, and I like the one-uber/OU-par-battle rule. It will mean people will need to actually think a bit outside the box with strategies.

    INB4 NINE ALAKAZAMS.

But yeah, any tourney that would genuinely give me interest in battling again has my vote. I've had more interest in reffing and therefore watching other battles than actually competing lately.

That's already happened in a tournament I believe. I'll find the threads and link them

Whatever the tournament is, I propose we should use selective picking for participants. Basically, only people that we know will be active and try to get their battle done should be allowed in. This shouldn't be that hard of a requirement. It's basically preventing JohnnyNoName444 that signed in for the first time in 2 months from taking the slot of someone else that we can count on in getting his/her battle done swiftly. It's not that hard to judge who fits in, and who doesn't in this requirement. Second, I think a fee ($5,000?, maybe as just collateral, you could get $1,000 back for each battle you complete, and all of it back when you are out of the tournament) to get in the tournament isn't a bad idea, weeding out anyone who isn't really seriously interested in the tournament. I think these measures are important when you look at the speed of the past tournament (and I know it is harder to get 4 people online and 1 more to ref at the same time), but it sure wouldn't hurt how long it takes.

That said, 6v6 Gameboy tournament plox.

Yea, I totally support signup fees.

Successfully deters the one-timers (people who play URPG a few days then totally vanish/quit) and the people who are not serious about competition. Also makes people take on much more considerable thought before joining in a tourney and putting the tourney higher on their priority list.

That said, 1v1 Tournament pl0x.
