    A few less suicide-bombing Gengars/Metagrosses may have made all 4 online members actually want to battle, instead of waiting weeks to set up a 2 turn battle.

    I know it killed it for me.

    Anyways, yes, signup fee is good; as to handpicking the entrants, I'm not in favor. Set a reasonable requirement above which you'll take anyone, or the first X posters in a thread to meet them (say one that will be announced ahead of time so interested parties can be online for it). If a committee picked who would be allowed to enter, I'd be too worried about both accusations and instances of favoritism.

    Set it to something where they have to have more than 10 fully-evolved mons, or have bought more than 10 TMs, to make sure they're people that have put some effort in; the actual tourney rules Mubz posted sounded good to me at the time.

    As to a Gameboy tourney, would you be able to switch moves between battles? or would you be stuck with the same set the whole time?

    u mad lol!?

    Think of the handpicking method as more of an attempt to remove players that would delay the tournament, instead of only accepting the best x amount of certain players. That kind of leads me to my next idea...

    Tournaments should be able to be as big as however many people sign up (and sign ups should last a good amount of time). In the event of an odd number of people (or a number that isn't the power of 2), byes may be given, and/or the finals may have to be round robin style. This may be how it already is for most previous tournaments, but I know some of them had a max (like team wars had a max amount of teams, kinda).

    I think you should be able to pick out your entire team and movesets before each battle in a Gameboy tourney.

    Lol'd. Remember a tourney a few years back which Marth hosted. There were about 39 people, and in the first round something like half of them got byes. The outrage ;____;

    Gameboy style would be interesting. It would actually need some ability and tactics...

    It still quite possible to limit Infernape to 4 moves that will wipe out the other team ;)
