The Passion of a Pokémon

Pokémon; we all train them, we all collect them, we all want to be the very best, like no one ever was. But have you ever thought to look at things through their perspective?

Story: At the risk of sounding like Professor Oak, welcome to the world of Pokémon! Across all regions, there are hundreds of thousands of trainers. Even more numerous then trainers are the Pokémon. There’s the tiny Bulbasaur to the mighty Arceus, and more being discovered every day. Some trainers use Pokémon for battles and others as pets. There are even nefarious crime organizations that use them to kill and steal. Be warned that criminals are around every corner, waiting to kidnap the next Pokémon that walks by! My name is Professor Raiguy. I am the world’s top Pokémon Professor…no, I don’t mean a professor that studies Pokémon. And you are?

Name: What you wish to be called during your time in the RP.

Species of Pokémon: This one’s pretty self explanatory. Just put whatever Pokémon you want to be. WARNING: ONCE YOU START, YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK!

Personality: Reach into the deepest, darkest corner of your heart, and pull out your inner Pokémon. That is your personality.
Description: Do you have any features that make it stand out in a crowd? Are you a shiny? Are you a green Jigglypuff? Are you a purple Mankey? Were these mutations the cause of an experimentation or rare disease?

Background: Are you a wild Pokémon? Do you have a trainer? If so, who? Were you experimented on by Team Rocket and poked with point, pointy needles?

Trainer (Optional): Like I said, this is only if you’re a trained Pokémon. You might want to give a brief description of your Trainer too. Are they energetic? Are they quick to anger? Are they (dare I say it…) members of Team Rocket or some other crime organization? Have you decided to follow in their footsteps!?

RULES

1. No godmoding- It’s okay if you dodge an attack or two, but you can’t dodge every single hit, taking out armies of enemies at a time. Use a move like discharge instead to be borderline fair.
   
2. Choosing A Pokémon- There are a few rules for this;
   a) You must choose a Pokémon that you own in the URPG.
   b) You may choose a previous form of that Pokémon, but it may only evolve in this RP if you have the Pokémon it evolves into in the URPG.
   c) You may not have more than one main Pokémon character. It’s okay if you occasionally say something as your trainer, or another one of their Pokémon, but don’t treat them like a second character. Treat them as you would your Pokémon in any other RP on the site.
   
3. Fighting- there are a few rules for this.
   a) The fights are all anime style. Game rules don’t always apply.
   b) You may use any TM, HM, BM, EM, etc. in your Pokémon’s move pool during the RP.
   c) If you lose a battle, you are down for a while; unable to get back up, but under no circumstance will you die. (Unless you say so)
   d) If you feel it would add dramatic effect, you may evolve during the battle.
   
4. No double posts. Edit your last post or just wait. The only exception is if you sign up and start right away.
   
5. HAVE MUCH FUN! Failing to do so will result in instant boredom. Remember that this is not meant to be a very serious RP, but one where Pokemon can communicate freely to one and other. There's no real main goal, although grunts are a bit of a problem...

 

Gender: Male

Name: Raiguy, or sometimes, Rai for short.

Species of Pokémon: Raichu

Personality: …okay, after a bit of heart digging, and a lot of bleeding, I’ve discovered that my inner Pokémon is a sneaky prankster with a vast knowledge of all things Pokémon. He always wants to play the hero.

Description: He has a wristband with a D lightning bolt (see avatar) stitched onto it. It has a phone so that he and his trainer can stay in touch.

Background: He and his trainer Daniel knew each other for as long as they could remember. They did everything together, including becoming some of the most well known battlers in Kanto. Daniel has decided to take a break from Pokémon training to go back to his home of Pallet Town, leaving Raiguy free to roam the wild as he once did as a little Pichu. He loves to spend his time in the Viridian Forest, the place he was born.

Trainer: Daniel is an energetic person with a strong sense of justice. He speaks some Pokémon, although not fluently. He is somewhat quick to anger.

 

Gender: Male

Name: Cobalt

Species of Pokémon: Ponyta

Personality: Cobalt has an adamant nature (aka he's stubborn). He is loyal to his trainer and friends, but he likes everything to go his way. He loves run around and eat.

Description: Cobalt matches the colorings of most Ponyta to a T, other then he has a hoof-shaped scar on his haunch from where he was branded.

Background: Cobalt was born and raised at the Laramie Ranch in Kanto. He was giving as a gift to his trainer, Ayame Kijo, on her ninth birthday. Cobalt has stayed with Ayame since the day he was born eight years ago. They had spent many years working on the ranch and pokemon reserve, and have only just set out on their own journey. Cobalt have a sense for adventure.

Trainer: Aya is almost always happy. It is very rare not to see a grin on her face. She likes to change roles a lot from leading to following. Although she really enjoys relaxing, she works hard on the things she loves most. Ayame tends to have her head in the clouds daydreaming. Patience with people and pokemon is one of her virtues, although she does like to hurry along when she gets caught up in a task. Ayame is very emotional and tends to enjoy being in the company of friends. Occasionally, Aya likes to whine and complain to those she holds dear to her, pushing all of her problems onto them whether they want it or not. This is normally due to her trying to sort out the problems she is having. The more she seems to look sad or lost is her getting lost in thought. When addressed in this state, the closer a person is to her, the more likely she will not cheer up immediately and instead begin complaining/debating/contemplating her thoughts.

Pokemon: haunter (evolves later)
Nickname: Oni
Personality: his personality is almost the exact opposite of his trainer's, oni is very playful and enjoys pranking others, he also likes going to places that are considered haunted
Description: the same as any other haunter (/gengar)
Backround: he was caught as a gastly at the haunted mansion in eterna forest, other then that, not much to say.
Trainer: his trainer's name is Karas. Karas is a very serious person who never jokes around, but he is also very nice to POKEMON and treats every pokemon with respect and kindness...ok, maybe not bidoofs.(Oni refers to Karas as "the protector")

 

Pokemon- Poochyena

Name Gunther

Personality- Good with people, and friendly, Gunther is more dog than wolf. Has a tendancy to get stubborn, however, and will visciously defend what he believes to be his.

Description- Looks similar to other Poochyena, minus a black mark on his back-left paw. Still a puppy, at a year old

Background- The puppy of a mightyena that a once-proud trainer caught on his journey, Gunther is the family pet of a family of five. He does, however, have free reign over the region, as long as he isn't gone for more than a few days.

Trainer- As mentioned above, Gunther is a family pet to the Jones family. The father Kyle caught Gunther's mom on his journey, and when Gunther was born on eldest son Danny's (currently eight) birthday, became his pet by default. He also needs to deal with four year old twins, though. A boy (Luis) who wants to ride on him and pull his tail, and a girl (Kaitlyn) who likes to play dress-up.

 

Raiguy looked over the vast landscape. He was just outside Pallet Town. What adventures would be waiting for him? He loved his trainer and all, but longed for a chance to be back out in the wild. This was his chance to experience the wonders he had been exposed to during his childhood.

Dashing away at the speed of sound, Raiguy headed towards Viridian Forest. "Once I perfect flying, travel will be a hell of a lot easier." he said. Pokemon jumped out of his way as he kept running. "It's good to be free..." Raiguy said, skidding on the ground and then stoping. "I wonder what kinds of Pokemon live here; it's been so long I've forgotten!"

 

Cobalt was out wandering around the Viridian Forest, exploring all the new sights and sounds. His trainer, Ayame, had left him to wander about freely as she searched Pallet for Professor Oak. Today was the day they were to be receiving a pokedex but the professor was nowhere to be seen.

Cobalt trotted up to a log on his path and leaped over it. This area near the forest was almost perfect for him. It was fairly open, provided lots of places to leap over, and had lots of tasty grass to munch. What Ponyta could ask for a better place?

A noise brushed the pony's cream-colored ear, drawing him from his thoughts. He flickered them back and forth, quickly locating the origin of the sound approaching him. The sound was light, but fast. Turning toward the noise, Cobalt flared up his mane and tail in order to confront the noise if it turned out to be hostile.

 

Name: Jade

Species of Pokémon: Flygon

Personality: (Serious nature) Jade is a no-nonsense Pokemon...most of the time that is. She prefers to keep things nice and simple, and easily gets fed up when someome is trying to pull a prank on her. When all else fails, however, she isn't above pulling a few tricks of her own...

Description: A darker green then most Flygon, with dark blue markings instead of the usual green ones.

Background: Unlike most Trapinch, Jade was hatched from two trainer's Pokemon. Since neither trainer had wanted the egg, she was born and raised on the small daycare center grounds. She didn't get along well with her companions due to their carefree attitude, so when a representative from a worldwide committee arrived to gather potential starter Pokemon for beginner trainers, Jade jumped at the opportunity to leave the daycare and explore new places.

Trainer (Akinai): It was a bumpy start when Jade first met her trainer Akinai, but over time they have become loyal friends. They are not often separated, but every once in a while Jade prefers to fly solo (both figuratively and literally). Akinai often has her head in a book or off daydreaming about another new place to explore. She can also be extremely stubborn: a trait both she and Jade share.

 

"Hello there!" Raiguy said, jumping over Colbalt. In his own mind, Raiguy felt like he was jumping over the ring of fire in a circus. "Funny, I don't remember there being any wild Ponyta in Viridian Forest. Do you have a trainer, or are you just hopelessly lost?"

Raiguy ran around Colbalt playfully. "So, what's your name, huh!? Mine's Raiguy." he said, jumping over Colbalt once again.

 

Name: Lutra

Species of Pokémon: Buizel

Gender: Female

Personality: Lutra is a shy Pokemon, liking to blend into the background of any situation.

Description: As normal for a Buizel, although possessing only a single tail, which she was tragically born without.

Background: A wild Pokemon who hates humans and is mistrustful of those Pokemon that work with them. At a young age the lake that her family called home was destroyed for the development of a large battle park, and during the 'clearout' of wild Pokemon she became seperated and lost.
Lutra was alone and frightened, left to fend for herself before she was ready to, but luck was on her side. She was found by a Suicune and he took her to a nearby Azumarill who had recently lost her young offspring to illness. The Azumarill raised Lutra with love and care, and she never forgot the Legend who had been there in her hour of need.
After several years of living an easy life, humans once again begun to move into the area near where Lutra lived, forcing her to flee. Now she travels, hoping to find Suicune once again and always ready to help Pokemon oppressed by humans.

 

"...what to do today...well, the protector went to cinnabar with out me for some reason..." Oni was said to himself when he saw the other two pokemon "what are a raichu and a ponyta doing here in vermillion forest...maybe they're a trainer's pokemon...maybe I will be able to put of a prank on them." Oni said with an evil grin.

 

A bright orange mouse pokemon leaped out from the bushes and over Cobalt's back. Cobalt flickered his ears around, following the Raichu's movements. The orange pokemon ran around him in circles, spouting off questions. The Raichu, whom he now knew was named Raiguy, had Cobalt's curiosity peaked. He had never met a Raichu before.

"Greetings. I am Cobalt. I come from the Laramie Ranch just off of Route 15. My trainer and I came to Pallet Town to receive a pokedex from the professor here," Cobalt nickered his reply. He had dropped his head down to Raiguy's level.

"I assume you have a trainer too? There aren't many wild Raichu around, and I've never seen one carrying those gadgets before."

 

"Yeah, I got a trainer too. He gave me this thing since I'm gonna be away for a while and he wants us to stay in touch. I have no clue how it works though." Raiguy said, finally stopping.

Suddenly, his massive ears picked up the voice of a Pokemon. "What are a Raichu and a Ponyta doing here in Vermillion forest...maybe they're a trainer's pokemon...maybe I will be able to put of a prank on them." Raiguy looked around to see where the voice was coming from. "Hm... I smell a Ghastly... or is it a Haunter..."

Raiguy looked around. "Alright, come on out, I know you're there. These ears aren't just for show you know, and niether are these sparks if you get my drift!" he said angrily.

 

"stupid, hypersensitive nose." said oni, as he came out from behind a tree, "...well, I'm Oni, no need to tell me your name I've already heard it."

 

Lutra bobbed her head out of the river to get a good look at the area she'd swum into. 'A forest of some sort,' she thought to herself, floating just at the top of the water. 'Various wild Pokemon around, not a human to be heard, perfectly safe.'

She jumped up onto the bank, hoping to find a nearby Berry tree and grab a quick snack. Though she had no objection to staying in the forest for a while, nor anywhere in particular to go, she didn't like staying in one place too long. Whether there were any here now or not, humans never left anywhere undispoiled by their presence for long. Not finding any Berries nearby, Lutra walked further into the forest in search of sustenance.

 

"Careful not to breathe him in, Colbalt." Raiguy said, chuckling slightly. "Hey...don't I know you from somewhere? Whatever, that's not important..."

Raiguy turned to Colbalt. "Hey, do you wanna come back to Pallet town with me? I'm sure ol' Oak has given your trainer a Pokedex by now. Then again, he's pretty old...like...80."

Raiguy crouched down on all fours. "Betcha can't get back there before me? Wanna have a race? OKAY! GET READY, GET SET, GO!" And with that, Raiguy was off.

 

Cobalt watched as the purple pokemon emerged from the woods. Raiguy did all the talking as usual, seemingly recognizing the newcomer named Oni. Cobalt wasn't sure if he pitied him for having to put up with the nonstop chatter or be annoyed with him for listening in on their conversation. Before he could make up his mind though, Raiguy turned his attention back to him.

"Hey, do you wanna come back to Pallet town with me? I'm sure ol' Oak has given your trainer a Pokedex by now. Then again, he's pretty old...like...80," Raiguy stated. Before he even had a chance to reply though Raiguy was off talking again. "Betcha can't get back there before me? Wanna have a race?"

Cobalt gave a quick glace to Oni standing not too far away. "If you want to go with us, you may want to hop on my back. Quickly, cause I never turn down a race and I'm not sure if we're coming back."

With that said, he turned back toward Raiguy again, just as the mouse shouted to "GO!" Cobalt thought he felt something brush his back but he wasn't sure what it was. It could be Oni or a stray leaf, but either way he tore his hooves into the ground and sprang forward.

 

"well, I guess I shouldn't follow them... I'm gonna look around a bit more." said Oni. So he continued to float around the forest, looking for someone to play with until he found a berry tree, "well, I don't see why I shouldn't sit down and eat for a bit!" said Oni, who then floated to the top of the tree, grabbed a perfectly ripe berry and proceeded to eat it while still floating halfway from the ground.

 

'What on Earth?' thought Lutra as she stepped through a bush. A Raichu and a Ponyta were both charging directly towards her, so she was either in their way or they were incredibly agressive in these parts. She was going to step to the side when she noticed that the Raichu appeared to be wearing something. That marked him out as a human-owned Pokémon, making the agression theory quite likely.

Well she wouldn't go down without a fight, Lutra quickly considered tactical options. Raichu would easily eliminate her, but if she could get in close she might be able to avoid it's more powerful attacks, or cause the two to strike each other. Lutra begun spinning her tail and summoned up a cloud of water around her. She may not be able to reach the same speeds as other Buizel, but her Aqua Jet would be no less powerful. She launched herself forwards at full speed, aiming directly for the Raichu.

((OOC: Not aiming to start a battle here, expecting you to either dodge or counter and then explain the misunderstanding))

 

Raiguy noticed the wild Buizel coming at him. Without skipping a beat, he jumped up and landed on the oncoming Aqua Jet with an improvised Surf move. Although it wasn't enough to hurt Raiguy, it was enough to knock him off balance and into Colbalt's path.

Raiguy's almost had a heart attack. Ponyta were known for being able to trample anything that was unfortunate enough to find itself under their harder than diamond hooves. Fortunately, Raiguy was able to roll to one side before becoming a kangaroo ratcake.

Raiguy was enfuriated by this. "WHAT'S THE BIG IDEA!? YOU ALMOST KILLED ME!" he said, grabbing the Buizel by the airsack and lifting it off the ground. Raiguy was quite aggressive, as such was the nature of his species. "I'm trying to have a race here and you try to kill me!? If I hadn't jumped out of the way, I would've been flattened!"
