    PE2K Thread

Question: What is the No BS Summer Auction?
Answer: It's an auction with absolutely no BS. There are no hidden Pokemon or bids. All the Pokemon up for bid are revealed beforehand, and the order they are up for bid will be revealed as well. All the Pokemon up for bid will be highly sought after ones and/or rare.

Question: Who is in charge of the auction?
Answer: Our Lord and Savior Bias Dictator Pidge.

Question: Where will the auction be held?
Answer: The auction will take place on IRC. The server used will be irc.systemnet.info and the channel will be #URPG. If you need assistance in accessing the channel, it will be gladly given if you post in the thread.

Question: When will the auction take place?
Answer: The auction will take place on July 30tht, 2011. That is a Saturday. The time of the auction will be 8:00 PM Greenwich Mean Time (+0).

    Question: How do I participate?
Answer: Simply register your nickname on the irc.systemnet.info server and join the #URPG channel at the correct time. Please register ahead of time. Registering your nickname is very important so nobody is able to impersonate you. If you do not register your nickname, you may not be able to join the channel! If you need assistance in registering your nickname, just post in this thread. Once you are in the channel and the auction starts, note the following auction procedures and rules.

    • The starting bid is 1,000.
    • The minimum amount to increase a bid is 500.
    • The maximum amount to increase a bid is 10,000.
    • You can only increase bids by multiples of 500, meaning you cant bid 9,750 or 12,797.
    • If you make a valid bid (a bid within the minimum and maximum constraints) with money you do not have, you will be severely punished, even if it is a joke.
    • Once you enter a bid, you can't take it back.
    • The winner of an auction will be the person whose bid lasts 30 seconds without interruption of a higher bid.
    • Each person is only allowed to win one Pokemon. This means you can't bid after you have won once.

There will be 17 Pokemon up for bid, unless there are less than 20 people in the channel. In that case, only the first 11 Pokemon will be up for bid. The 17 Pokemon represent each type. They will be up for bid in this random order.

Dragon: Horsea (not Dragon, but close enough)
    Rock: Rhyhorn
    Water: Slowpoke + 5 TMs
    Fighting: Mienfoo
    Flying: Aerodactyl
    Normal: Munchlax
    Ghost: Litwick
    Ice: Cryogonal
    Steel: Ferroseed
    Fire: Vulpix + 5 TMs
    Psychic: Abra
    Poison: Gastly
    Electric: Rotom
    Grass: Cottonee + 5 TMs
    Ground: Drilbur
    Dark: Zorua
    Bug: Scyther

Before and after the auction, a special, prize awarding FFA may occur, as well as a mini-tournament of sorts.

    ---
Pokemon Ultra RPG has its own IRC Channel: #URPG on irc.systemnet.info

    • In most clients, to connect to a server, type: /server irc.systemnet.info
    • To chance your nickname, type: /nick InsertName
    • Once you are on the server, to join the URPG channel, type: /j urpg
    • If you haven't registered, to register your nickname on the server: /msg NickServ REGISTER InsertPassword InsertEmail
    • After you register, whenever you use that nickname, you will be prompted to identify yourself, you can do this by typing: /msg NickServ IDENTIFY insertpassword
    ---

Post in here anything relevant. If enough people disagree with something about the auction, it will be changed. This extends to the Pokemon as well. For example, if you don't want Sigilyph to be the Flying Pokemon, go ahead and post and make your own suggestion. However, be sure to post that you do want Sigilyph to be the Flying Pokemon if other people start saying they don't want it.

Update: In order to decide what Pokemon will be up for bid, it will be voted upon through the Like system. If you are a PE2K only member, you can post your votes at PE2K.

    Ice Pokemon: Sneasel or Cryogonal
Fighting Pokemon: Scraggy or Sawk or Throh or Mienfoo
    Flying Pokemon: Sigilyph or Aerodactyl
    Steel Pokemon: Bronzor or Ferroseed

If you want to vote, but the post you're trying to Like is your own, tell me.

Re: The No BS Summer Auction

They should replace sneasel with cryogonal to keep URPG more current. No one wants lame pokemon from some generation 10 years ago, it's all about the new pokemon.
So I say cryogonal for a bright new URPG future, in this most splendid of No-BS auctions.

So. I like Sigilyph where it is. Although having Cryogonal in the list would be cool, it isn't necessary. I like the list the way it is.

    EDIT: And what Fawkes said.

Re: The No BS Summer Auction

Agreed with this, as far as I can recall all the recent auctions have used a '1 win per person' format and seemed to work out pretty fairly, so is there any reason to change it?

    This.

Also, keep Sigilyph as Flying, Scyther as Bug, and Slowpoke as Water. Not fussed about Cryogonal.

Re: The No BS Summer Auction

If someone has the hard-earned money to win multiple times, I say let them do so. It's a competition after all, and if you can't compete with the high rollers, maybe you should have earned some more money. If you win one auction, it's likely you will be down 30-70k, so it will be harder to get another Pokemon when everyone else is still at their full amount. The one Pokemon per person hurts the dedicated in the URPG with a large amount of money, while it coddles those who are less committed. Lastly, 17 good Pokemon is quite a large amount. Historically, few auctions have actually had this many Pokemon up for bid, and even then not all of them were highly sought after ones. Therefore, if there are few people with large amounts of money and they are only allowed to win once, a vast amount of other Pokemon auctioned will end up being less of a competition.

That's not to say it's impossible to get this rule changed, though. If 11+x people Like Post #3 and someone reasonably addresses all of my points, I'll change it, whether I agree or not. x representing the amount of people in this thread that are against the change.

Like Post #7 if you would rather have Cryogonal up for bid than Sneasel.

Re: The No BS Summer Auction

Well, with people like Bumbles (not to call him out or anything) spending 70k a few months ago is nothing, because he makes so much money from ref/grader/ranger wages. There are a few people with multiple professions who make TONS of money like that. It's kind of hard to say that those people are more dedicated, because you have someone like Roulette or Maverick who don't have as many professions and don't ref or whatever as much, but are still online all day doing URPG things, so it's not really a matter of them not being dedicated. While 17 Pokemon is a lot, there's probably going to be 40-50 people in the auction, if not more, and since we have so much time to make money before the 31st, I don't think we're going to have a situation where you have a powerful/rare Pokemon being sold for 10k or something. But that's just my say. :b If more people want to have it be unlimited, I'm all for that too.

I highly doubt there'll be 40-50 people, Alaska

My money's on less than 25.

Then why do we do it on IRC? AIM chats hold like 40 people. It seems like there's a crap ton of people at every auction...
