Ughh too many changes, still, keeps em guessing

because I havea 4th gen gym, can I limit all pokémon and moves used within said gym to those available in 4th gen (i.e. Canalave gym would run exactly as it does now against the same pokémon with the same moves) or do I have to incorporate B/W into the running of my gym?

If so, I'm closed for a week till B/W comes out here and I get the hang of it.

 

Good question. You may continue to use D/P rules until you are comfortable in switching to B/W. It'll take some time for most everyone to transition to the new updates anyway, so you aren't alone.

Hold on. The transition from D/P to B/W is unlike any other generation so far. In R/S, there were abilities introduced. In D/P, there were physical and special split introduced. However, in B/W, there is nothing new introduced except for the mechanic and BP changes for a number of moves.

Thus, you cannot limit your Gym to D/P because there is no difference. All reffing done will follow the most up to date generation, when it comes to mechanics and B/W. For example, in B/W, Tackle becomes 50 BP and 100%. This will be followed in all generations to make it simpler for the referees.

Its really nothing to sweat about anyway. Like Ataro(?) said, there's really not huge game changers here, unlike past generations. Just make sure you note a few changes in moves as well as the additions of moves. Do that, and you should be fine.

I just wanted to run under 4th gen mechanics because its a 4th gen gym and such things would make sense...if I had a kanto gym, I would have requested to run under 1st gen mons and moves..its more a, this gym is from this gen therefore mechanics for that gen shall apply....would be an interesting change to the league

 

Well, you can. Its called DP rules ._.

Not to mention, if you ran a Kanto gym, I'm pretty sure you'd get nobody to ref a RBY battle... I'm not even sure you'd know how to battle an RBY battle...

Uh, if it isn't clear, this is how the different generations work...

DPP: what we are most familiar with
RSE: same as DPP, except whether a move is physical or special depends on the type
GSC: same as RSE, except no abilities
RBY: retired as far as I know

Yes, this means even minor move differences will remain the stay the same across generations. The newest data on moves will be used. Therefore Hypnosis has 60% accuracy in all generations, Giga Drain will have 75 power (when BW is out) in all generations, and you can even use Secret Sword Keldeo in GSC, if you have it.

 

I'm aware of that pidge, was posting to see if I was allowed to run that as a gym rule.

I would like to add Yanmega and Xatu to my gym lineup. I own both.

 

Adding Abomasnow (owned) to my lineup and removing Abomasnow (rental), and adding Rotom-F (rental) to my lineup.
Also adding Vanilluxe (rental) and Beartic (rental) to lineup, and removing Weavile (rental) from lineup.

Changing TM to Frost Breath
