Randoms. Sudowoodo killed itself with Wood Hammer to take out Swampert instead of safely KOing it with Counter, but it didn't really matter since Weir's next Pokemon was Chandelure, which could have safely finished off Sudowoodo with Shadow Ball while trapping it. From there Chandelure made some well calculated risks to try and overcome Cradily, but competitively missed Inferno and wound up dying at the same time as it. By the end of the match Alakazam was posed to win the battle, but competitively missed a Focus Blast, bringing the final matchup to Venusaur vs Armaldo. Buggy boy didn't stand a chance, and Weir overcame his bad accuracy rolls with good mon rolls.

Weir swapped PZ out early so it could come back in later and download SPA. Weir lost this advantage when he used Thunder instead of a harder hitting, more reliable Tri-Attack against Volcarona. Just because Ash uses it all the time in his gym doesn't mean it's a Flying type. After that it was an uneventful series of one Pokemon killing another before dying to the next with lots of bad matchups where both Pokemon just hit each other with competitive wet noodles. It ended with a speed tie between Galvantula and Infernape. Galvantula sent Rain Dance, and instead of going for a Flame Charge -> Encore, Infernape went for a taunt. It wound up winning the speed tie two turns in a row and won despite the lackluster strategy.

Randoms, first one I've reffed where both players actually tried. Sableye might've taken ages to ref but at least it was interesting. Weir used Final Gambit to trade Lucario for Whimsicott and reduce the RNG element, saved Greninja to take out Ho-Oh when it would swap back in, and made full use of his toolkit. If every battle was like this one I wouldn't sarcastically say they're competitive.

Lots of mistakes on both sides. Serperior using Leaf Blade instead of setting up with Leaf Storm, Serperior using Leech Seed against a faster Pokemon, DR's Greninja swapping while sending first without even using U-Turn, DR swapping too often with rocks up, VJ sending Breloom on Greninja, etc. In the end DR's mistakes wound up setting him back more than VJ's.

Ralin made plenty of mistakes early on like using Mud Sport then sending in Jolteon, using Hail instead of Toxic to stall Houndoom, and not checking who's faster, but almost made a comeback when Morru couldn't send something that could easily kill Alakazam (like a Berry Store Weavile) at the end. Morru's early lead let him whittle Zam down, resulting in a win.

Ralin made plenty of mistakes, his biggest ones being raising his speed and lowering Xali's speed without checking who would be faster after the move's effect. This combined with Ralin not Rapid Spinning, Defogging, or sending Flying/Levitating/slow mon on the extremely potent Sticky Web let Xali constantly maintain Speed advantages, letting him squeeze in more moves than Ralin and easily defend.
