Gym Leader Tournament 2016(ish) Round 1

And so Round 1 of the 2016(ish) Gym Leader Tournament is now officially under way!

The fearless Gym Leaders have been assigned their opponents. Each one carefully beings to strategize and analyze plotting and planning. The quest to be the best has begun and everyone is hungry for victory!

Round 1 of the Tournament will last from now (January 5th 2:30am EST) until 10 days from now (January 15th 2:30am EST). Please please please try to have your battles done before then if possible! It would be nice to get a few rounds done before school starts back up for me. Start scheduling your battles now. Send PMs, VMs do whatcha gotta do but get 'em scheduled and get 'em done. As always if there's a problem come to me as soon as possible. Don't wait until the last second pls. Ok? Ok. Love u guys.

As a reminder, these are the official rules to be used during your matches:

Since this Tournament had a really awesome turn out (24 Gym Leaders total), I have been authorized to give anyone who finishes their Round 1 battle (or moves on if their opponent doesn't show up) an extra 3,000 bonus cash! Good Luck in the first Round and may the dice be in your favor!!

 

Neonsands vs. Ash K. - idk man this could really go either way had to flip a coin on it.
Elrond vs. Sou - I rolled some good matchups lol. This could also go either way but I think Flying is just a tad more diverse
Monbrey vs. WinterVines - have I said "this could go either way" yet? Poison got some cool tools this gen so we'll see.
Siless vs. Seppe - this will not be an easy win for Seppe but I think Grass might be too bulky for Psychic
Fierce Deity vs. Morru - Both will make mistakes but Morru is less rusty and will have more updated strats
Liam vs. Ataro - I would love to see an upset here ;-; I think Liam could do it, but Normal is p crazy.
The Artist... vs. TieSoul - PV will prob hax a lot and Tie might be rusty
Nitro vs. Mikey57 - prove me wrong, Mikey. Prove me wrong.
Magikchicken vs. Xali - former champ 2 stronk
Synthesis vs. juliorain - Porygon-Z is OP no counter exists

Swift vs. Taither - Swifty gonna use his psychic powers to outplay Taither.
Neonsands vs. Ash K. - Ash loses round 1, rip.
Elrond vs. Sou - Fairies are gross (sry), but I believe in them here!!
Monbrey vs. WinterVines - I had to coin toss this tbh.
Siless vs. Seppe - Siless gonna pull some crazy strats out that Seppe won't expect and win.
Fierce Deity vs. Morru - Either FD's gonna make a win happen and shock all of us rooting for Morru or Morru's just gonna win. I'm leaning towards the latter but I think this'll be fun to watch.
Liam vs. Ataro - Ataro deletes the battle chats so they have to go to forums, but then Ataro deletes his forum accounts (or the forums themselves) so Liam wins by default gg.
The Artist... vs. TieSoul - He may not be the best artist, but I believe in him winning this battle!!!

Magikchicken vs. Xali - I think it'll be close at points, but Xali will pull off the W.

Swift vs. Taither - Smart pedictions will keep swift just ahead of Taither's brute force, sealing the deal.
Neonsands vs. Ash K. - This will come down to whether Sand s up when Zard-X comes out. My money's on Ash but should be great to watch.
Elrond vs. Sou - Offense vs defense. I'd love for Fairy to pull through but flying is just too diverse I think.
Monbrey vs. WinterVines - This will entrley depend on how Winter combats Blaziken and Charizard. Strong start for Winter, semi-sweep by Monbrey, strong end for Winter.
Siless vs. Seppe - Half of them are part Poison hehe but I heard Seppe is quite good so we'll see ;o
Fierce Deity vs. Morru - FD will almost definitely lose to some mechanic he didn't know existed lol
Liam vs. Ataro - Offense v Offense. Water can hit harder though, but I think Ataro will take the win out of experience and strategic planning.
The Artist... vs. TieSoul - PV wll hax, and BP some boosts, and prob win. But Taither has the type-wise advantage.
Nitro vs. Mikey57 - Nitro will use some silly strategies and almost lose lol but will pull through when he uses his brain power
Magikchicken vs. Xali - Xali could easily take this, but instead he'll spam Thunder, Blizzard and Sing and it'll come down to dice rolls
Soulmaster vs. Fabled - Fabled is pretty good, but Soulmster has that cool item game. Think Fabled will be able to outplay the Dragons, though.

Neonsands vs. Ash K. - tough choice, but me thinks Ashy boy will pull through
Elrond vs. Sou - Flying 2 stronk, ban pls
Monbrey vs. WinterVines - I see Winter bringing game, u go gurrl
Siless vs. Seppe - No idea. I see Seppe bringing a hard challege, but Siless might take the win
Fierce Deity vs. Morru - I think Morru will have a rough time, but will probs make it out alive

Siless vs. Seppe - This one is my most unknown. Seppe is more thorough in his calcs but Psychic has a lot of options that Siless can take advantage of.
Fierce Deity vs. Morru -- Morru's got the hang of ZardX now, so this'll be ezpz.
Liam vs. Ataro - Liam, you got this really, but only if you don't let him get to your head!
The Artist... vs. TieSoul - Better not lose, scrub. I still want to see Poison/Poison in finals.
Nitro vs. Mikey57 -- Just don't throw the same mons at everything and you should be fine.
Magikchicken vs. Xali -- Old reliables over new treats. I just feel Xali is more practiced.
Synthesis vs. juliorain -- Raichu sweep tbh, tho the new one is no Caramel Chu Chu.
Soulmaster vs. Fabled -- I want to see things like Berserk Gene!

Liam vs. Ataro -- NOTHING is normal about Ataro. He'll dish out some unorthodox tactics and somehow pull out the craziest win of the round

Nitro vs. Mikey57 -- Mikey may think he's gonna win when Nitro's team recedes and then he's gonna sit there and get hit by the tsunami that ensues

Soulmaster vs. Fabled -- The dragons will rise and claim their rightful place as undisputed fire breathing lords of the sky... not looking good for our grassy land dwelling friends

Monbrey vs. WinterVines - This is definitely a match to watch, but I feel like Winter's more diverse end on poison types will lead her to victory
Siless vs. Seppe - Not biased, feel like Seppe's strats will win him the game
Fierce Deity vs. Morru - Morru gonna make the match lit tbh
Liam vs. Ataro - This is also a match to watch, for sure. Water has more synergistic combos to work with than Normal imo

This took 5ever (4.5 hours lol). Today we learned that Oricorio is not to be trifled with. Mega Manectric and the unbeatable Porygon-Z put in some damage as well. Both battlers can post to claim their extra 3k as well for completing their Round 1 match.

these two went neck and neck for a bit. would have been closer if Slurpuff actually learned a move that was capable of OHKOing Volcarona (Slurpuff used Belly Drum in this match and was still unable to net an OHKO unfortunately). good battle overall, but the offensive and defensive prowess of mega charizard and gliscor respectively proved too difficult for Laverre Gym to handle.

Elrond wins, and earns $5,500 + $3,000 bonus + advances to next round!
Sou loses, and earns $2,500 + $3,000 bonus + eliminated.
