Neon's rust showed in a few mental slip-ups here and there, and TED was able to capitalize.

Winter stopped my scarf tricking by switching in Krookodile with its own scarf, but then I burned everything I could manage to, except Gastrodon which slept on the job. With just a sleeping Gastrodon and the scarfed Krook left while I had Gardevoir, Sableye, and Meta left, Winter forfeit.

Siless wins, gets $2000, and advances to Round 2.
Wintervines loses and gets $1000.

Bee should get $2000 for reffing.

Celadon Gym Leader The Pokemaster (Whimsicott, Serperior, Cacturne, Sawsbuck) vs. Saffron Gym Leader Pokeviper (Gardevoir, Venomoth, Alakazam, Espeon)


So yeah. This battle took 4 hours. @[email protected] Anyway, the battle started with a showdown between Espeon and Serperior, which made for some pretty clever and unexpected moves by PM to evade Espeon's tricky tactics. Serperior did a nice job stalling, dealing periodic damage, and healing off whatever damage it took before it was forced out by a Red Card after it dealt some pretty big damage to Gardevoir and Espeon. Cacturne was forced out but was called back soon after it was burned, but not before setting up some Leech Seeds. Sawsbuck came in and took out Gardevoir, but not before being paralyzed. Alakazam came in and took out Sawsbuck, but not before Sawsbuck gained some vital ground by using Aromatherapy, healing its entire team of status. A well-timed Sucker Punch from Cacturne took out Alakazam, and then came Venomoth. It took out Cacturne, took out Whimsicott (but not before some essential Leech Seeds were thrown), and did some major damage to Serperior. Then there was some grueling cycles substitutes/Bug Buzzes before Serperior was in a position to take out Venomoth with a well timed Mirror Coat. Good game!

The pokemaster wins, gains $2000, and progresses on in the tournament
Pokeviper loses and gains $1000

Monbrey: Infernape, Rotom-H, Blaziken, [Charizard]
Chainreaction: Infernape, Medicham, Blaziken, [Electivire]

Even though Monbrey's Nape was kind of pummeling Chainy's into oblivion at the beginning, the SR Chainy's Nape set up was too crippling for Mon, leading him to forfeit shortly after he dealt with Chainy's scarfed Medicham.

Chainy wins, gets $2000, and advances to Round 2.
Monbrey loses and gets $1000.
