Just to let you know swift, I know that Water type moves to 1/2x damage on Water type Pokemon. It just that if Shich were to use Hydro Pump, it would do more damge than Slash, regardless of the type effectiveness. (I have a reffing calculator =P)
I'm claiming meh $500.

 

that isn't true though. A 110 Base Power Water-type move becomes 55 Base Power because it gets divided in half because it's not very effective. Slash is 70 Base Power and even has a chance at a critical hit. It may use Torchic's weaker Attack stat, but it does more damage either way.
