It should be common sense to be respectful to minors and everyone else when interacting with groups of people.

Seriously, this is not a big deal, guys. Keep sexual content out of the blasts. It's not really that hard. Posting pictures and links (etc) wasn't allowed prior to this announcement either. Reading forum rules has been a part of URPG since signing up. This is not anything new.

We're trying to make this family safe for everyone, and I personally would appreciate it if everyone helped uphold this respectable standard so all members can enjoy URPG.

 

MK, I'm tired of you purposefully trying to find problems with things when there shouldn't be a problem. Obviously you can talk about ROMs or whatever the hell else. This isn't about limiting your free speech (not that you have any, ya limey Englishman) it's about protecting younger players who may or may not be morons (like me). If you really, really want to talk about some godawful furry bukake porno or whatever you people are into, nobody's stopping you from making private blasts/group chats or going to private chat. Hell, if you really want to, make [URPG After Dark] or something and only invite older members.

And I'm tired of whenever I try and bring something up, I'm immediately being difficult. Before that conversation I posted, I tried to say that it doesn't actually say ANYWHERE in the URPG rules that the blast chats are expected to follow the BMGf rules as well (because when they were made, we didn't even have blast chats), and I get "[16:43:23] [URPG Chat]: (wintervines) stop being difficult" as a response. I try to be helpful, and I'm treated bitterly. Every single time, I'm treated like I don't know anything. Yeah, ok, the staff do a lot, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to break anyone's back to have one of the multitude of staff edit one measly sentence into the rules.

It's not the PG-13 thing I'm protesting, it's the fact that the staff are creating a double standard by enforcing it. It's not against URPG rules to talk about sexual content, it's against BMGf rules. By saying "URPG must follow BMGf rules in the blast chats", you have to enforce everything, including ROM discussion, advertisements of other sites and whatever else. You can't just pick and choose.

This is all coming from someone who doesn't particularly care for the sexual content. I don't revel in it, but I'm not offended by it. So assuming I'm one of "you people" (whatever the hell that's supposed to mean) is pretty rich of you considering you probably talk about sexual stuff in the chat more than I do.

 

This may be the epitome of hypocrisy.

You were asked to keep it PG-13, which really isn't much. The rules on ROM talk applies to while you're on the forum, whereas things like not showing inappropriate images to minors shouldn't even have to be asked of you.

Ok look... we're not a bunch of Nazis. OR AT LEAST WE TRY NOT TO BE. It's why we put up this announcement instead of jumping in and punishing the people who inspired it. No one cares if you swear or say the words "sex", "penis", and vagina", just stop linking to porn, sending naked pictures of yourself to young kids, and talking about your fav. sexual position in vivid detail in a chat with children in it. Use your common sense, please. =/

I'm going to go type up a sentence in the rules now for the 17+ year-olds who didn't realize that sending vulgar porn images to young kids playing a Pokemon game was inappropriate.


And I'm also going to be totally lame and lock this, because it isn't a debate. Feel free to express your concern about how we are being super unreasonable in the blast chat. If you want an XXX rated chat, make your own, we just want you to stop using ours.

 

I'm going to post here to clarify something be cause I feel it needs to be said:

Nowhere did we say that we are extending the ban on explicit content to blast chats because of BMG rules. It is entirely a URPG policy to protect the minors who participate in URPG.
