Wow... this competition continues to blow me away every year, twice a year. The amount of talent, creativity, and sheer effort URPGers put forth in their stories is incredible. I'm so happy I've been able to run this again, and I'm as excited as you are to receive the results. We're making URPG history again.

The Court by thnksfrtheggs! Taking the title of third place by barely one point, this story captivated the audience with its grim perspective on Pokemon life. thnksfrtheggs is a relatively new writer on the block, but his mastery of the pen was clearly quite beloved in this competition. After the final, final round, he may claim a Hard Pokemon of his choice and $5,000!

INSTANT DEATH ROUND​

By the Vial and Dog Stars tied for first place.

I told y'all you were making URPG History!

We've implemented a special INSTANT DEATH ROUND. It's not instant, nor is it as lethal as ninjas or terminal illness, but it's still pretty cool.

The rules for this round:

1. Vote as you normally would, but only for either of these two stories. Your favorite story of the two is +2, while the other is +1.
2. You do not have to provide a summary if you've done so for both stories.
3. You may vote if your story is in this round.

You have until 11:59 P.M. CST on Friday, August 22nd, to send in your vote. To be eligible for a certain special prize at the end of the SWC, you must vote in this round as well as all the other rounds.

For now, claim that voting money, voters. It's a long fight and we're still going.

SWC RESULTS​

AHHHHHH!

IT's here, it's finally here! The results of the instant death round are in, and that means that the 2014 Summer Writing Competition will now close. Watching you voters read, deliberate over, and be inspired by this competition's stories has inspired me too, and I hope we all keep writing our way into a better world.

Now, what you've all been waiting for.

An exceptional writer, Elysia barged into the Story session, took some names, posed her pens, and never looked back! We love this writer for her gorgeous dialogues on the nature of a darker humanity, her intricate plot lines, and her well-crafted characters that we'll always carry in our hearts. For winning second place, Elysia may claim a Complex-ranked Pokemon of her choosing and $8,000!

A seasoned writer, WinterVines knows how to deliver these emotions with beautifully crafted prose, heartbreaking imagery, and her delightful talent for story telling. For winning the SWC, WinterVines may now claim a temporary, one-year Legendary Pokemon of her choosing and $10,000!! Let's congratulate Winter for winning this prestigious title, winner of the SWC!

And so, it's finally over! This crazy competition brought home tears and giggles, thought and passionate reaction. I watched you, voters, as you slammed my inbox with heated love for a certain story or a particular author's technique. It was an absolute joy to see people read stories who've never been in this section prior to the competition, and to watch familiar writers adore each others' works. This was a tradition only broken by a tie. Voters, you made history here through your love for storytelling, as much as the authors themselves. Post here to claim your 3k for voting!
