I stood in the docks as the cool coastal breeze lashed across my body. There was a storm brewing, dark clouds floating in from the east. It had started to drizzle a little, and the ocean waves were crashing against the pier, creating a noise not unlike a round of applause from a large audience. The place was nowhere near as beautiful as I had remembered it the first time I stepped down onto the ground awaiting my first adventure.

I was standing with several other people, all awaiting the same journey as me. We had volunteered to explore a couple of underground caves which had recently formed with the collapse of the Outer Heavens. We all stood there, shivering, awaiting our rangers to guide us through. The wait had seemed like about half an hour, but it was probably less. Eventually, the rangers all turned up and paired with one of the trainers. There were many famous rangers that I spotted; Winter, Chainy, Bumbleebee. To my 'delight', my ranger was the 'famed' A. Silverswift.

I looked down at my Pokéballs, making sure I knew if I was prepared or not. There were sure to be dangers lurking inside the cavern - many Pokémon had been displaced, and I had no clue what to expect during my trip. I might see the weakest Pokémon known to man, such as Caterpie, Magikarp and Sunkern, or I might encounter the stronger end of the spectrum, with Tyranitar, Machamp and Gyarados - maybe even legendary Pokémon.

But it was too late to back down. I gave a quick nod to my ranger, before striding in.

Smiling, he gestured to me to follow, and we soon approached the caves. We walked closer to the coastline, ready to walk into the caverns, before I remembered that it was almost essential to wear a special piece of breathing equipment - the Scarecrow Mask.

"Alright then," I said to myself, before reaching into my bag, grabbing the pointed mask and placing it on my face. It felt odd at first, but I quickly adjusted to it.

As me and Silverswift travelled down the caves, we immediately felt an icy chill, only getting worse as we went further underground. And that wasn't the worst part - droplets of water kept falling down on us, dampening us, which made the cold much less bearable. When there was a distant roar of a powerful Pokémon, the speed of the falling water drops increased, cascading down on us.

We delved deeper, and found that they were a marvellous sight to behold. They were too perfect, almost like they were man-made instead of naturally formed. Crystals were embedded into the stone walls, glistening by the torchlight. I only saw one passage way (to the north) and decided to take this path, wondering where it would take me.

As I walked through the tunnel entrance, accompanied by Silverswift, I ventured deeper into the large cave system. With each step I took, the fog became more and more dense, making it harder for us both to see. Both me and my ranger stumbled a couple of times walking down the slope, but we managed to quickly regain our balance. It was silent, apart from the slow dripping of water droplets landing on our heads and onto the stone floor. The ceiling wasn't very high, but just a few inches from our heads - it was probably much worse for the ranger, because he was much larger than me. Eventually, we walked into another chamber, not dissimilar to the first.

Awaiting in the room was the first Pokémon on our expedition, a small, blue penguin. Both of us had instantly recognised it as Piplup, one of the Water-type starter Pokémon. It must have swam in here while it was underwater, making its home in the caverns, possibly unable to get out. But I knew that I had to continue onwards, and to do that I had to request assistance from one of my Pokémon. I carefully deliberated for a second, weighing up my choices, before I pulled out my Pokeball containing my Machamp. I had obtained it a month or two ago, trading with one of my close friends. I lobbed the small ball at the floor, before it enlarged and released the hench fighter. "Let's go, TOMATO!" I called, gearing it up for battle. "How about we begin with a DynamicPunch?"

I could see a smile forming on the Machamps face - it was one of his signature moves, and he enjoyed using it to his full potential, and it was rarely on so weak a Pokémon as this Piplup. It's fist began to glow white in energy, preparing to unleash the most powerful punch it could muster - it was sure to knock the weakling silly. He pulled his arm back and...

The fist struck sweetly on the penguins stomach. It flew across the room after the large impact; the punch had exploded forwards at such a pace that it wasn't a surprise that it couldn't stay on its feet. It was easy to see where Piplup was hit as there was a purple brise beginning to form on its chest; it was a nasty sight. However, there were more important priorities than worrying about the Piplups health, and I needed to finish it off; to put it out of its misery, at the very least. I prepared to command it to use another attack, but in a desperate attempt, it launched itself at TOMATO, using its beak to sharply stab at my Pokémon. The valiant effort didn't seem to hurt my Machamp, the Peck seeming to do very little damage, despite being super effective. TOMATO smiled smugly, a gloating look spreading across it's face, and it was understandable; my Pokémon was in a far more superior postition.

It was now time to follow up the marvellous attack with another stunning attack, if you'd excuse the pun. "Machamp! Begin to charge up some electrical power into your fists!" I shouted, preparing to utilize another of Machamps attacks, the devastating ThunderPunch. "Once you've hit that weed, try to follow it up with a Cross Chop if possible. It'll be sure to knock the Piplup out!"

Literally the second I spat out my final word, Machamp began to surge with electricity, directing all of this power into his arms. He was going to unleash a mighty combo on the penguin, which I was hoping it wouldn't survive.

The combo paid off - the electrical force of the ThunderPunch combined with the pure power of the Cross Chop managed to annihilate the Piplup - I only felt a tiny bit of remorse. After beating it, I had found that it had dropped a small piece of Candy Corn. I wondered whether it had any importance to the quest that I was currently undertaking. I somewhat doubted it, but you could never be too careful. I pocketed it into my knapsack full of other goods that were sure to help me. Even if not, the small morsel of food might help me in a tricky situation - I hadn't bought any food provisions with me.

I looked around, examining the chamber, and I once again only found a single door leading to another room, apart from the one behind me of course. I quickly walked, ranger in tow, trying to finish the mission in the shortest time possible - I wanted to get out of here already. One of the best parts about these larger caverns were the fact that they were as dry as any desert you could encounter, meaning that I had a short period which I could use to dry off. However, although my clothes became slightly warmer, the sogginess of them didn't wear off - it was like wearing a swimming pool full of water where ever you went. And I was about to pass through another tunnel, sure to have the same feeling as I had the previous times. I continued forwards.

As I entered the next chamber, to my dismay I found a massive wall in my way. "I must have missed a side-passage," I thought to myself. There was no way past, and I couldn't see any other way to go. I turned around to go back when I heard something. "HOLA SENORITA. BATTLE ME NAW." I turned around, with a small smile. I would have been happy to capture this powerful Pokémon anywhere else in the park, but for now, I had to battle it to get past. it was to be a formidable challenge, but I believed that I could get past it. "Muy bien español, Snorlax, pero necesitará más que eso para mí vencer en la batalla!" I wittily replied. Spanish had been one of my strong points, and I realised that since I wasn't a girl or didn't have any girlish features, the 'Senorita' he was talking about must have been Silverswift. However, it was my job to battle, and it was up to me to defeat it. Once again, TOMATO was the best choice for the job, so I released him from his prison-like ball once again.

"So gou, meester?" Machamp asked me in it's native Afrikaans. I had studied its language for a short time before coming to that conclusion. "Ja," I commanded, before once again giving him a move that he had already used. " Machamp, use a DynamicPunch!"

A white force began to charge in one of TOMATO's hands. It was about to fire the mightiest of punches, and it needed to. It would take a lot of muscle to defeat Snorlax.

I slowly hid my portable translator back into my pocket, Silverswift obviously noting my broken Spanish. I returned all of my attention to the battle I was fighting, and after seeing the DynamicPunch yet again blowing a chunk of the huge beasts damage away, similar to how Piplup took such a huge hit. The sloth-like Snorlax began to use it's move, and once I saw what was happening, my mouth dropped in absolute terror. The beast stood up, took a few large steps and literally jumped on Machamp. Not some usual, run-of-the-mill jump, but a full-blown bellyflop. It would have caused so much destruction had Machamp not have been so powerful and bulky. Just when I was thinking about which ove to use, I noticed that Snorlax was charging up a white energy all around its body. I had realised that it was going to use a similar move, only much more powerful - a Giga Impact. I began to realise with dread that it was going to really damage Machamp, and I needed to stop that happening.

Quickly thinking, I knew that this plan had to work. In panic, I called out to my Machamp "Alright TOMATO, this is gonna hurt if you don't KO it now. Hit it with another DynamicPunch to knock it off of balance, then follow up with a Cross Chop! If you don't pull this off correctly, expect a world of hurt!"

I think that was the moment that Machamp realised the mammoth task he had to complete, and he finally began to become less cocky. He put almost all of his energy into his arms, ready to use the powerful combo; first, he would explode his fist into the stomach of the beast, in an attempt to weaken it enough for the Cross Chop to finish it off. The move, which attacked the foe with a series of diagonal karate chops, was just as devastating as the DynamicPunch if used to the same potential, and by God, I hoped it did.

Fortunately, the combo somewhat worked. It didn't KO like I much expected, but at least it disrupted the charging power inside of Snorlax enough to halt the mighty attack. The fat slob seemingly didn't notice this (although he might have, and his reaction time was extremely slow, who knows?) and proceeded with another Slam attack, gaining just enough air to come down on Machamp with all of its force and weight. The attack was slightly less powerful than the previous attack it had used, but it still left Machamp aching a little. Its fat drooped around the fighter like jelly, almost suffocating it beneath its weight. It could've been fatal if not for my quick idea.

"TOMATO!" I cried, trying to save it. "Use a Seismic Toss and throw it off of you!"

It wasn't very often that I had told him to use the Seismic Toss attack, and I had very little recollection of how it looked. From my faded memory, he used all four arms to latch onto the opponant before throwing him across the battlefield - it was deadly if pulled off correctly, but quite the opposite if it didn't work as I had planned.

TOMATO grabbed on to the flabby skin of the Snorlax, trying to get as much grip as he possibly could, before lifting him in the air above his head - it must surely have been a difficult feat. He remained in that position for several long seconds, before tossing it a few feet - towards my direction! I ran to the side, diving for cover as I was nearly flattened by the great oaf. But finally, it was defeated, lying in the corner dazed. It had been guarding the path to the left and right, as well as a witches broomstick. As I picked it up, my bag started vibrating. Looking inside of the leather pouch I noticed that my magic mirror was vibrating. Taking it out, the broomstick glowed red before duplicating it - I now had two of them.

My next choice was which was should I take? There was one to the left or right, so I had no clue where I was meant to be heading. On an impulse, I took out my crystal ball which I had bought for this occasion, and hoped it would lead me in the correct direction.
