As you enter the Abandoned Power Plant, you see two options. One, a building that is nice and dry. You consider going inside since you know a Thunderstorm is about to start (because you're Psychic) at any second and it would be nice to not get wet. You also notice a path going to a small open area. You know that Electric Pokemon like to come out during Thunderstorms so a lot of Electric Pokemon will be out during this storm, rare and commons alike. You have a few seconds to make your choice.

I was bubbling with excitement as I entered the Abandoned Power Plant with my Tyranitar as this was my first Capture Contest participated. I had purposely chose Abandoned Power Plant since it was the area with the least amount and variety of Pokemon, to which I brought Tyranitar along, so that the chances of capturing a rare Pokemon would be maximized. I was not really looking for anything in particular, but rather a high leveled Pokemon so that I can earn high points for the judging segment at the end of the contest. This would then allow me to win better prizes.

I patted Tyranitar on the back while she appeared excited with her stiff face. Even though her face seemed to tell others that she was an incredibly violent and unfriendly Pokemon, I knew my Tyranitar was just gifted with the strength and she was most certainly caring enough.

"Tyranitar, let's give this our best shot!" I encouraged her. She was probably even more excited than I am, considering this was her first time in the National Park, much less entering a Capture Contest for the first time too.

Meanwhile, a thunder could be heard, and it was evident that a thunderstorm was going to start soon. I had two choices at present: one, a building that is nice and dry, or two, a path that leads out to a seemingly small open area. In this case, where a thunderstorm is present, there would probably be a lot of Electric-type Pokemon in the open area since they are easily attracted to the electricity that is present in the air.

I took a quick moment to choose. The building would definitely be safer since I would not be exposed to the bad weather and such, but the open area simply sounded much more exciting and dangerous to me. Dangerous areas would probably mean that rare Pokemon are more likely to appear. Without any more delay, I decided to enter the path that leads to another small area. I walked along with the gigantic-sized Tyranitar by my side, feeling most safe and protected. That was the advantage of having a powerful and large-sized Pokemon by your side.

You decide to be adventurous and explore the outside area during a Thunderstorm, which coincidentally begins. As the rain begins to pour, you begin to wonder how crazy you really are for being outside a power plant filled with Electric Pokemon during a Thunderstorm. Not caring about your own safety, you continue forward and come across a small mechanical gear shaped Pokemon. It's Klink!"

As I explore the outer area, the thunderstorm coincidentally starts and a heavy downpour started. The rain was most unappreciated as it hindered every possible experience we were possibly having. Not to mention, I had a Tyranitar with me, and rain was something she definitely did not like.

Brushing that aside for a while, I noticed that our first Pokemon had appeared. The Pokemon was shaped like a small mechanical gear finished in steel-like material and it made some sort of whimper which I could not really recognize. Being in this Capture Contest, the priority for us was to capture rare Pokemon and Klink, though was an interesting Pokemon, was unfortunately not going to score much bonus points for us.

The National Park have several categories when it comes to Pokemon, and Klink had belonged to the Uncommon category. There was definitely going to be more same rank Pokemon or even higher ranked Pokemon that would appear later, and battling Klink now would unfortunately just be a waste of item. I had needed to conserve Tyranitar's health as well. With those taken under consideration, I decided that the best method would be to escape from this run now.

I unzipped the small camera bag that I had slung on myself, and took out one of the cuddly PokeDolls that the National Park had sponsored us for this run. "Tyranitar, let's try to escape this Klink," I told my Pokemon, as we tried to walk in another direction, away from that wild Pokemon. Hopefully, it would leave us alone. But if not, I was prepared to use my PokeDoll right away.

"Also Tyranitar, this rain is starting to annoy the both of us. I know you definitely hate this weather. Do you think you can get your Sandstream ability to activate now, so that your Sandstorm weather can override the current thunderstorm? If not, just make use of the move Sandstorm that you learned a while ago to change the weather," I told Tyranitar. This was also one of the main reasons as to why I bought Tyranitar along. She had the ability to change the weather both with her ability and by using moves, and times like these, it would really prove to be advantageous for us if the weather was to our favor.

Klink decides to leave you two alone, especially after seeing your Tyranitar. You grow tired of the rain, which makes me wonder why you came out here in the first place, and have your Tyranitar get rid of it with Sandstorm. Some of the sand mixes with the rain and forms lumps of wet sand all around. Also a Minum appears.

Klink appears as uninterested in us as we were in it, and went away in another direction. It was probably afraid of Tyranitar as well, considering the size and power difference between those two. Meanwhile, Tyranitar nodded her head happily and started to roar in a menacing voice. It was calling for a weather change. The rain quickly dissipated, while some of the sand from the Sandstorm started to mix with rain, forming lumps of wet sand around the field.

It was going to be hard to traverse the field with these conditions, but what matters most is that it will be advantageous to my Pokemon. Before we could take another step, we were stopped by yet another minute sized Pokemon. This time, a electric mouse Pokemon. Minun, the other pair of the duo Pokemon - Plusle and Minun, was a mostly cream-colored Pokemon with blue accentuations on her large ears, cheeks, the tip of her paws, and her negative-sign tail tip.

She cried out an adorable call as she noticed us and seemed to be interested in a battle with my formidable Tyranitar. Although her cute looks make it hard to hurt her in battle, I still have to do that, for that is the only way to proceed with a capture. Minun, being one of the Borderline category Pokemon in the National Park, was not the most Rare Pokemon, but it would have to do for now. If I skip this Pokemon still, it might be a bit risky for I might not encounter an equivalent or higher tiered Pokemon later on. Thus, it would be most safe to just capture Minun for now.

"Tyranitar, let's do battle with this Minun!" I shouted and prepared for battle. Minun was an Electric-type Pokemon and in the Sandstorm weather, Tyranitar naturally had an advantage with her defensive Rock-typing and the weather had also boosted her Special Defense at the same time as well. I knew Tyranitar would love to show how brave and courageous she is, and I knew just the move to take advantage of that. Tyranitar being a Rock-type would usually hate Water-type moves, but the current condition is a kind of blessing. She walked forward and stood mighty in front of the Minun, a scene similar to Goliath and David.

I thought a while about my battle strategy. Usually, I didn't have to worry much about battling as I just had to go all out, but it was a different scenario in the Capture Contest. I had really wanted to score high points and that meant that my Pokemon should be as healthy as possible when I was leaving the Park, and the captured Pokemon should be as weak as possible. That means that I would have to conserve as much energy as possible when it comes to Tyranitar's health, which is why a long and draggy battle is probably not ideal. We would have to watch out for our defense, just as we go all out on offense.

"Tyranitar, I want you to use Whirlpool and use it to mix and force the lumps of sand around you towards the Minun!" I commanded her. The lumps of sand around us were created earlier when the Sandstorm was mixed with the earlier rain which created an effect similar to that of Mud Sport. Whirlpool would only made it slightly more watery but they would get washed towards the Minun as well, to which I imagined the feeling of getting hit by that would be similar to getting hit by numerous huge Mud-Slaps coupled with Muddy Water. I had really hoped that the sand particles within the attack and atmosphere currently would negate or reduce the amount of electric attacks.

Minun used Signal Beam. You countered with your own combo. Your attack appears to have stopped Minin from using Electrical moves, but with this Thunderstorm, it is unsure how long that will last.

Tyranitar began to raise up her short arms and roared in a deafening voice. She briefly glowed in a flash of white before a large whirlpool started to form from between her arms. With another roar, she threw the Whirlpool towards her foe. Meanwhile, the nearby wet lumps of sand were instantly soaked up and pushed forward Minun and the attack poured over Minun, causing it to cry out in an annoyed tone.

Though being all wet and muddy with the damp sand, Minun managed to release a counterattack right away, throwing the multicolored beam into Tyranitar's chest. Although it was a rather effective move against Tyranitar, the sturdy hide that Tyranitar had possessed was a great asset for it had shielded her from the damage of the Signal Beam.

I had to think about our next move choices. Being a Bold Pokemon, Tyranitar usually enjoyed risky moves and she was more than happy to give everything she has. In fact, she loved to demonstrate her brave and daring nature. I decided to allow her to do that this time. Risky, but not stupid of course. I needed to inflict the Minun with a status condition, because there were many advantages of that. One, it would help us during the battle with Minun possessing the disadvantage. Two, it would make the capture a lot easier with a status inflicted. Three, it actually helps to increase your points when it comes to the final judging after the contest, and I was really hoping to inflict it with two status conditions this time.

Although inflicting multiple status conditions are rarely seen, they are actually possible. It is just that it takes a huge amount of effort and concentration for your Pokemon to be able to do that. It definitely wouldn't hurt to start with just one status though. We really needed to prevent it from using any status moves on us at the same time as well, for it would cause us huge disadvantages when it comes to the final judging. I had the perfect idea.

I needed to utilize Thunder Wave and Taunt, but I needed to get Tyranitar in with a damaging move as well. I started to look around my surroundings and noticed that the sandstorm albeit little, was still going on. "Alright Tyranitar, this might be tricky but it's time for you to show off your prowess. Start off by using Taunt to make it angry, then immediately follow up by using Thunder Wave on it. After that, I want you to jump up and pummel the ground beneath you with Focus Punch! Send the tremors and fissure towards the Minun!" I commanded.

Taunt and Thunder Wave would severely put Minun at a disadvantage, and after Taunt, Minun would most probably be angered and annoyed and start to use an attacking move. Thunder Wave would immediately hinder the opposing foe's speed and thus impair her fighting ability. This time, although punching the ground would be a little dangerous for Tyranitar herself, I had the feeling she would be able to control the magnitude and not let herself get hurt, since she was rather skilled in using Ground-type moves as well, even if she wasn't a Ground-type.

Focus Punch, an extremely powerful attack, would create tremors and possibly even a fissure in the ground, severely hurting Minun and surprising it with intimidation. I had really hoped that the Focus Punch would cause a split in the ground, creating a fissure that directly damaged Minun. With the creation of a new fissure, we could actually possibly send our attacks through the crevice on the ground to directly damage Minun. By ordering Tyranitar to perform a jump before the attack, it would also serve to increase the force and impact of the attack because of gravity.

I looked at Tyranitar as she started to utilize her Taunt attack. She was probably having lots of fun in this battle since I was really adapting my battle strategy to the way she liked to play it - dangerous and risky. Furthermore, even though she had no specific preferences when it comes to using moves, she actually loved using added moves and thus, she would naturally perform even better when using them.

Tyranitar used Taunt, Minun fell for the Taunt and charged at Tyranitar. It unleashed a Hidden Power attack, but it didn't seem to do much damage. Tyranitar, unfazed by the Hidden Power, used Thunder Wave, then followed up with a Focus Punch to the ground.

I knew it. Tyranitar had a slight smirk on her face as she carried out the series of moves, proceeding first with the Taunt. She stared at the Tyranitar and started giggling while folding her arms, much to the annoyance of the electric mouse Pokemon. The Minun started to charge towards Tyranitar while running with its tiny feet, and the 'negative sign' tail of the Minun started to glow in a bright yellow flash.

A series of flashing orbs materialized from the back of her tail and blasted at a low angle towards my massive Tyranitar. I had recognized the mystery attack as a Hidden Power, an attack that was truly mysterious in the way it changes its type and power accordingly to whichever user was using it. It was hard to tell the type and effect of the move through the raging sandstorm, but it must have been rather weak. This was obvious because Tyranitar was unfazed by it completely. Brushing the attack aside with a powerful sweep of her arm, she suffered minor damages and instead, returned twice of what she had felt back to Minun. Well, maybe thrice.

She jumped and spun around quickly after brushing off the attack, and focused her tail which had quickly glowed in a blinding yellow flash. She concentrated and released a burst of static electricity from within her body, which aimed for Minun and hit it within seconds. The Minun was taken aback by the sudden attack and fell back onto the ground, struggling to get up with the little energy she had left due to the paralysis.

Tyranitar was not going to let her foe have any chances however. Finishing her spin, she raised her right fist which was already ignited with a vibrant flash of white energy, and pummeled the ground by defying gravity with a massive Focus Punch. The attack easily created a fissure and it spread across the field towards the Minun at lightning speed, creating violent trembles everywhere. The Minun fell into the slight fissure created and seemed to received major damage from the Focus Punch.

My Pokemon however, was still looking healthy as ever and regained her composure as she stood bravely before the Minun, puffing her chest with confidence and authority. The battle seemed to be going very well, but I was still a little worried. Although Minun was a decent catch, there was definitely going to be trainers with even rarer catch, and judging by the dumb luck a certain Dinobot, I could tell that he had far better luck with encounters that I am. Or perhaps he had bribed the system! What a jerk.

The adrenaline rush that I've felt in this battle reminded me of the good old days. Back then, Pokemon like Tyranitar were highly sought after and many people, even the Elite Four, were using Tyranitar as their main lineups in Pokemon battles. However, when the recent Generation V Pokemon has been newly discovered, many old Pokemon were regarded as weak and not up to date anymore. This resulted in the banishment of several awesome Pokemon that used to be really good, like Tyranitar, Scizor, and the likes. Well, people just don't use them as much. That was the reason why I had bought Tyranitar in as well, I had been neglecting her for quite some time and I had really wanted to make up to her. Seeing her all happy and excited makes me feel all fuzzy inside as well.

I had really missed battling with all of my Pokemon. Through the past few years, as many trainers come and go, many of the trainers in my generation have already left the city to pursue a career. Back here, there was not as many trainers as before, and battles happened much lesser as well. Thinking back, as a member of the Elite Four, I had received so many challenges per week. And now, I had barely received any challenge in the year. This was also the reason why most of my Pokemon had been neglected. In fact, only the Normal-type Pokemon were still receiving some sort of attention. Since I was the leader of Nacrene Gym, which had merged with Aspertia Gym in the recent months, my Normal-type Pokemon still get a chance once in a while when a rare challenger decides to battle me and try to defeat me to win a badge. Memories...

"Alright Tyranitar, we are almost there. I want you to use Rock Tomb to call upon a barrage of giant rocks to surround Minun. Hopefully, this will disrupt her movements and force her to stay within her confinement. Remember, your objective is not to damage her this time, but merely trap her and force her to be immobilized," I told Tyranitar.

Minun was starting to get weak, but I didn't want her health to go down that fast still. As this was a Capture Contest after all, the judging requirements also takes note of the duration of the battle, and if the battle was long but yet interesting, you would get additional points for it. Simply overpowering Minun without any interesting strategy of any sorts would bore the audiences and that was definitely not what the judges had wanted.

Rock Tomb would hopefully trap Minun within a confined space of huge rocks and we will see what the electric mouse Pokemon will do to counter this move, or perhaps she will simply fall as a victim to the cage and her paralysis.

As Tyranitar let loose a loud roar, the ground beneath us started to quiver a bit and several giant rocks started to sprout out of the ground around Minun and surrounded her. I still managed to catch a glimpse of her through the cracks, but it was too late still. She had released an electricity attack, probably Thunderbolt, and I seemed to have noticed it too late as Tyranitar got struck by the attack. Tyranitar shook her head and quite to shake off the damage as she stood still, waiting for my next command.

We had needed to inflict Minun with a second status condition, and that was why I had taught Tyranitar the Technical Machine, called Toxic. By trapping the Minun in an encasement of Rock Tomb, it also made it much easier to not miss with my attacks since Minun has no way of escaping. We also had to lower Minun's health by just a little more, and we could try for a capture soon.

I needed a move that would reach Minun through the Rock Tomb that was caging her up. By simply blasting any attack or even going forth with any physical attacks, it would only break the Rock Tomb barrier and it would also cushion up the damage for Minun. If worst, Minun could actually launch a surprise attack against Tyranitar as well. Suddenly, I had recalled the earlier Hidden Power that Minun had used against us.

Tyranitar had learned many moves through different methods like Technical Machines and Breeding Moves. Among one of them, was Hidden Power as well. However, Tyranitar's Hidden Power was one of the most unpopular types, Poison. In this case though, it would be a perfect synchronize with Toxic. I also had a perfect idea on how to deliver the attack towards Minun directly. I studied the slight fissure caused by the earlier Focus Punch attack and it was not very wide or deep, but it was more like a narrow crevice.

By taking advantage of our environment and thus using the crevice to our advantage, I would then ask Tyranitar to deliver her Hidden Power using the crevice as a potential gap in Minun's defense. The only problem now was how are we going to move the Hidden Power orbs through the crevice and hurt Minun. I could use Whirlpool and blast the orbs with the pressure from the water, but I was afraid that would be too much for the Minun to bare. I wanted Minun to be at a critical low health, but I definitely did not want to faint it.

Suddenly, I began to recall that Toxic was actually possible to do that. The usual Toxic that Pokemon performed was usually of black smog, but there were also type variations in those. Tyranitar and I had practiced this in the past, to perform Toxic as a stream of concentrated purple liquid instead. This was roughly similar, but it was simply in the liquid form.

"Alright Tyranitar, let's finish this up! Use your Hidden Power on the crevice but do not explode the orbs immediately! Instead, make use of the detonation time by following up with a liquid Toxic. Send them down the crevice so that Minun will get hurt directly and inflicted with a Toxic condition at the same time. Do take it easy with your Hidden Power, we want it at a very weak deliverance!" I told Tyranitar.

Tyranitar promptly followed my command and released a burst of Hidden Power orbs from her mouth which were controlled not to implode even upon impact with the ground. They seemed to be floating on the crevice but were sizzling with a purple hue, as if they were time bombs. Without wasting any time, she followed up with a spew of fuchsia-colored Toxic which looked like a concentrated form of sludge, and it immediately washed down the Hidden Power like the force of a tidal wave.

The Poison-typed Hidden Power and Toxic was forced down the crevice, and got to Minun right under the shield of the Rock Tomb. Minun screamed loudly in pain, as the Toxic infused with her body, causing much pain - both from the attack damage and the second status condition inflicted. She managed to return a weak jolt of Signal Beam towards Tyranitar, whom again brushed it off with her arm. Tyranitar looked like she was starting to get tired, but this battle was now over.

I reached into my bag and quickly took out one of the Park Ball that I was entitled to in the Special Package that every trainer had, and promptly threw it towards the Minun.

    Sorry, thought I had posted.

You successfully captured Minin! Congrats. Just as you pick up Minin's Pokeball, Plusle, Minin's brother appears, angry that you have taken his brother away. He demands a battle. Will you comply?

The Minun was captured successfully, but not long after that, a familiar Pokemon appears instead! This Pokemon was very similar to Minun, except that whichever part of Minun's bod that was blue, this Pokemon had it in red. It was Plusle.

As thrilled as I am to encounter the Minun's brother, who seemed to be very angry by the way, I had already have Minun, and capturing Plusle was not going to help me to increase my points for judging or whatsoever. I decide to quickly walk away in another direction. Hopefully, the Plusle would leave us alone. If not, I was prepared to throw the PokeDoll that I had in my hands.

Plusle won't leave that easily. It begins letting out sparks of electricity as it charges up. Will you try to escape again, or kick it's ass?

Plusle decided not to leave us alone. It was starting to get on my nerves. I only had access to one PokeDoll and I really didn't want to waste my one and only PokeDoll on the Plusle. I thought for a while and decided to conserve it, and placed it back in my bag.

"Okay Tyranitar, let's try using a Roar to scare it away. If it decides to stay around still, strike it with a powerful Earthquake."

Tyranitar nodded her head to acknowledge my command and pounded her belly hard, before releasing a ear-deafening bellow of Roar. The attack was supposed to be so intimidating that the foe would get so scared and decide to run away instead, but there were also chances that the foe might not. If te latter is the case, that is the point where Tyranitar's powerful Ground-types moves will come into handy.

Plusle wussed out and ran away crying. You are a monster for capturing and taking away his brother. As you continue to walk through the thunderstorm, satisfied with the monster you've become, you notice a Zubat floating a couple of feet away. Will you try to capture it.

Plusle ran away and cried like a sissy it was. I felt brave and monstrous as I continued my adventure, and continued to walk through the thunderstorm like a boss. Nothing was going to stop me in winning this contest. Just as I thought that, an extremely annoying bat appeared. This bat - named Zubat - was possibly the most annoying creature ever, for it had appeared in whatever possible caves there are, and annoyed the hell out of you by appearing every five steps you take to battle you. Unfortunately, it is so bloody weak that you gain little to no experience battling it, and it isn't even cute in the slightest way.

I thought about trying to scare this Pokemon away with another Roar. But actually, why leave such matters to chances and luck when I can take it in my own hands? Well, Tyranitar's hands. "Okay Tyranitar, I want you to strike it with the most powerful Stone Edge ever. Your aim is to knock it out in one blow!" I said confidently.
