Perhaps it had sensed that others were in the area, or maybe you or Sela had accidentally caught its attention- either way, the Fighting-type's training session looks to be over. Swinging around the iron beam its holding, it calls out a challenge to Sela.

Gurdurr noticed us leaving, and it stopped its training to get a good look at us. Suddenly, it started shouting at Sela, trying to get us to battle. I had no intention of trying, though, and it didn't seem safe to just ignore the challenge or try to run normally. One swing from Gurdurr could potentially deal a lot of damage; way more than necessary for just trying to get past a battle. There wasn't much we could do, though, as we seemed to be cornered. Just one thing came to mind.

"Sela, think you could get us out of here with a Teleport?"

Upon hearing your suggestion to use Teleport, Sela gives a small nod and closes her eyes. Unfortunately, the Gurdurr has heard the command as well. After taking a few steps forward, the Pokemon swings his steel beam in a downward strike, beaming the Gardevoir on the head. While Sela doesn't look too hurt, the move effectively canceled her Teleport and slammed her down to the ground.

Sela rubbed her head a bit. The smack with the steel beam stunned her, but it didn't seem like it hurt too much. Still, I wanted to get out of there, and attacking the Gurdurr back would make that infinitely more difficult.

Sela was clearly frustrated with the Gurdurr, and started complaining to it, telling it all we wanted to do was get out of the cave...


...and then you had to go and hit me in the head with that steel beam of yours...

...I honestly didn't expect scolding the thing to help, but... Sela could probably make it feel bad, I guess. Whatever got us away from the battle would work.

Sela picks herself off from the ground, looking more than a little miffed. In response, she gives the Gurdurr a mental lashing that would make even the most strict mother proud. The Fighting-type, unsurprisingly, backs away as the assault hits it. As the Fighting-type sullenly walks away, dragging his weapon behind him, you swear you see the words “It's super effective!” appear underneath the Gurdurr. Shaking off the sight as a hallucination shared with Sela thanks to her recent head trauma, you decide to turn back around and try one of the previous tunnels.

The next tunnel proves to be deserted, as well as the next two that you explore afterwords. Just when you are starting to wonder if this entire cave system is empty, a Throh appears. The Pokemon is leaning against a wall and crossing its arms, as if wondering what took you so long.

Throh sat in the way, staring at us as if he was waiting for us.

"I suppose you heard what was going on back there? We're just trying to get out, and..."

I doubted Throw really cared, but I had to attempt to keep the situation from getting hostile. Sela, however, still was incredibly frustrated with getting smacked in the head, and she seemed more than ready to continue her scolding streak with the Throh if it decided to sit in our way. Hopefully, we'd be able to get past Throh, patch up Sela's small wounds, and get out of here, but depending on Throh, that could be a long ways away.

Throh stands silently in place, listening to Sela go on for a while. After a couple minutes, it finally raises a hand to make the Gardevoir stop her tirade, then simply shrugs and walks away. Either it didn't believe that you were worth the time, or was just tired of being ranted at.

As soon as Throh is fully out of sight. You and Sela both know that your Contest is at an end, and you hand her your final EnergyPowder to use to heal her head wound. Knowing the way back to the main outpost by now thanks to Teleporting there many times in the past, the Gardevoir whisks you away.
