To counteract Whimsicott's Cotton Guard from earlier, Venuasaur strengthens her attack power with Swords Dance. The dance, while comical to see a bulky monster like Venusaur perform, boosts her strength regardless. In return, Whimsicott appears to be running out of ideas; in desperation, she shoots off a Shadow Ball at the large dinosaur creature.

As you command Venusaur to perform Outrage, her form begins to crackle with a light violet energy as she lets out an earth-shaking roar before charging. Venusaur bull-rushes the small Grass-type, sending it flying into a small patch of flowers. Eyes wide as saucers, Whimsicott begins to make shadow images with Double Team to better protect herself.

I had hoped my Swords Dance effort would work effectively, Venusaur tried her hardest this battle and needed to keep up with Whimsicott’s Defensive increases. I watched as my blue-dinosaur creature shivered her leaves and danced in a circle. The sharp, green leaves on her mountain sliced, and diced with one another. Some small particles of bush fell to the ground and landed nearby Venusaur’s light-blue feet. I caught a glimpse of my Grass-Poison; bush Pokemon’s strength run through my body. It was a weird feeling to feel such increases of powerful energy increases. The power of our bond was increasing every time we battled, or went on adventure. I was proud I made it this far within the Botanical Garden’s Capture Contest. It was like taking part in the Johto Region’s Bug Catching Contest! I’ve had so much fun, so far. Right now, I needed to focus on a capture against that Whimsicott.

I asked Venusaur to perform an Outrage attack on Whimsicott. This is a powerful attack, which had potential chances to cause masses of damage, just what I needed to whittle down that Whimsicott’s health. I know my blue-dinosaur Pokemon could do it, and she never let me down. We were such a good team, and my Grass-Poison Pokemon was always trying her best. She glared at the Whimsicott and prepared to perform. I watched as my Venusaur’s outer layer of her whole body turned into a bright, violet energy. Cackling sounds echoed through my ears.

“ROAR,” Venusaur shouted in Outrage. The earth shaking roar shook the grassy ground beneath my feet. My blue Pokemon launched herself and charged like a rampaging bull. SMACK I heard Whimsicott lunged backward through the atmosphere. She landed on her back onto the small patch of flowers. Her eyes were wide open as was terrified of the rage my Venusaur had. The Whimsicott’s wide eye saucers expanded rapidly, and she plotted her next move. I watched her glow in a weird energy and copied her a few times to try and evade my attacks.

“Double Team,” I said to myself. “Venusaur, watch out. Attack all Whimsicott you see with Vine Whip!” Venusaur nodded whilst filled with rage, and roared slightly at the wild, cotton Pokemon.

“Once you’ve completed your attack, I shall throw my Super Ball at the mischievous creature!” I said with emphasis on throw! I readied my Super Ball from my pocket, and ready to throw it.

Venusaur uses Vine Whip to swipe at Whimsicott's illusions, effectively banishing them before the Grass-type can cause any real mischief with them. As soon as you see the real one get knocked down by the vine tendril, you toss a Superball at the Pokemon. While the Ball shakes about ominously for a few seconds, Whimsicott barely manages to break free. The Superball breaks in two, now useless.

Whimsicott then uses this moment to stage her own attack. For a moment the Pokemon staggers about, looking absolutely exhausted. Once it totters to Venusaur, she lands a mighty strike on the large creature, causing the Grass-Poison hybrid to reel.

I watched my blue-dinosaur Pokemon’s strong whip swipe at the cotton, Whimsicott’s illusions. They poofed away after every single swipe. I watched as they dematerialised into the warm air. Then, I threw my Super Ball like Ash Ketchum in the direction of Whimsicott. It shafted open and cerise light consumed the creature… It landed on the grassy floor, and started to wriggle… It wriggled for a while…

“Come on,” I said to the ball. Suddenly, it bust open, and the ball split in two. The Whimsicott reappeared with a cheeky grin on its face. My eyes dropped in disgust. I needed to try again before it was too late. My Superball was now useless and just became a trophy of rubbish. Venusaur looked a little down about it breaking too, but we need not to give up now.

“I will try again in a moment,” I said to Venusaur, who nodded back. Whimsicott then made stage for a counter attack on my Grass-Poison Pokemon. I watched as she staggered across the grass and panting. Then, she smacked my Venusaur in the face before she could react. Venusaur rolled backwards for a moment in pain, I was stunned it still had the energy to keep going.

“Venusaur, try a Sleep Powder,” I shouted, and then… “I will throw my Superball afterwards.” I readied my reserve Superball and had hoped for the best.

Venusaur unleashes another round of spores into the air, this time attempting to put Whimsicott to sleep. The wary Pokemon simply holds her breath this time however, not willing to fall under the same trick twice. This leaves you a wide opening to toss your last Superball at the creature, and the Grass-type is sucked into a capture device once more. This time, the Ball merely shakes once before it grows still.

As you pick up the ball, you have two choices to make. Head back to the Outpost with your catches, or stay for the rest of your Run?

Venusaur’s spores of Sleep Powder was unleashed from its sharp leaves, and wheezed across the air in the direction of Whimsicott. She did not fall for it, and simply held her breath. As I tossed my Super Ball, it struck the Pokemon once again. It shook rapidly on the grassy floor and DING it stopped. Whimsicott had been captured!

“Good Job, Venusaur,” I shouted. She was smiling, and laughing too. “You did a great job!” I readied into my pocket for the Energy powder we had for the Botanical Garden Contest. “Here Venusaur, use this on your wounds. “I readied the potion’s powder and rubbed it gently across my blue-dinosaur’s legs, and head. She mumbled for a moment due to the stinging pain.

“How’s that Venusaur?” I asked. I picked up the ball and wondered if I should head back soon. “Let’s go Venusaur, let’s carry on.” Venusaur nodded and was ready to carry on.

Deciding to continue on, you set your sights on the other side of the clearing. Venusaur, despite being a little worn out thanks to two consecutive battles, follows closely behind while taking care not to trample any of the nearby flowers. Before you can reach the other side, a Gloom runs out from behind a large umbrella plant. The Grass-type looks frightened about something, but it has yet to look your way.

As me and Venusaur pressed on after the Energy Powder healing my Blue-Dinosaur. We set our sights on the other side of the clearing. Venusaur did a little worn out from the past 2 battles, she had faced. I watched behind as she closely, and calmly walked behind. Without trampling on any flowers.

“We’re almost there, Venusaur,” I said with a smile. Suddenly, a Gloom runs out from a large plant. The blue creature seemed frightened about something. It seemed to not be looking our way. So, I was hoping I could walk right past it without it noticing us.

Thankfully for you and Venusaur, Gloom doesn't appear interested in sticking around at all. Without a single glance, the Grass-type darts across the path and out of sight. Wasting no time, you continue forward towards your final encounter.

In a fitting matter, the trail leads to a dead end; an overgrowth of mismatched weeds and flowers block the way towards an area most likely forgotten over the years. It is not deserted though, as when you go to turn around a Pansage is standing in the way. The Pokemon must have managed to sneak behind- or maybe it had been silently watching you this whole time.

Gloom did not seem interested in us. I watched as it glanced at Venusaur and me, then the Grass Pokemon wasted no time and continued across the bushy path away from us. I was glad we did not have to bother; I felt we captured enough Pokemon as it is.

We went down a trail and lead us to an overgrown of mistmatched weeds, which seemed like a dead end.

“Looks like we are done here,” I said to Venusaur. “Let’s go.” I turned around and noticed a small-green Pokemon standing in our way. It was a Pansage, and it was kind of cute. It seemed silent. I decided to hopefully walk straight past it without it wanting to battle.

Pansage shifts around from foot to foot, as if antsy about something. It doesn't seem to be interested in a battle though, as it watches you and Venusaur walk away without a single complaint. Seeing that there is no point to continue watching you, the Grass-type runs out of sight.

As soon as the wild Pokemon disappears, a Xatu Teleports into view directly in front of you. Figuring that the Psychic Pokemon is here to take you back to the main Outpost, you recall Venusaur and happily accept the Teleport.
