    The crisp morning air became very much evident the moment I left the Ranger van. I zipped up my jumper and blew onto my gloved hands, watching the steam in the air before me. Despite being outside for just a few seconds, I could already feel my ears reddening. I heard a disgruntled sound from behind me, a very familiar sound at that. A beautiful brown flat creature slithered down and out of the van. It gave me a dirty look after dragging it outside but I could only see its beauty. Stunfisk is a beautiful creature. Despite common belief...

    "Fisk!" he cried as he slithered alongside me and up to the wooden cabins ahead. Outside of the largest and most noticeable cabin a familiar-looking man stood. I gave him a quick wave as we approached. He looked excited to be here at Meteor Valey, clearly not feeling the bad weather.

    "Hey," I said. "I'm Jay and I'll be your Ranger today. Any preference on where you want to go first? We can head down by the stream, up to the mountains or along the grasslands. I don't mind."

    Angel walked up to his ranger Jay and shook his hand. “Pleasure to meet you, I know I don’t look cold but it’s kind of because I did Oktori a bit ago, much warmer here.” He said with a smile.

    “Any preference on where you want to go first? We can head down by the stream, up to the mountains or along the grasslands. I don't mind." Jay said in curiosity

    “Okay well because I’m psychic hunting we can go down to the stream, Im sure we’ll see something down there.” Jack said as he began to fish through his pockets. He pulled out a few things out of his pocket. The first was a repellant bottle designed for ghost pokemon. He sprayed it on and around him for good measure. He then grabbed the second thing. A disk container, he opened it up and pulled out a disk labeled “Abra.” He placed it into his third object: the player. The cry of an Abra sounded out from the speakers and Jack nodded. “Okay, we can go now.

    “Okay well because I’m psychic hunting we can go down to the stream, Im sure we’ll see something down there.” Jack said and I saw his hand shoot towards and into one of his pockets. He pulled out a repellent, looking oddly like a bottle of window cleaner, gave it a quick few squirts and looked satisfied. The purpley-grey liquid sprayed before him before disappearing in the air. Surprisingly, it was odourless. He then withdrew a modern pokeplayer and a disk with a word scrawled onto the front of it. He inserted the disk and took a step back. Just a second later, there was a cry of a familiar Pokemon. I couldn't remember what it was though.

    “Okay, we can go now."

    With that, we set off down the grassy verges and towards the stream. A fierce wind blew by and I shivered at the feel of it brushing against my spine. The hill gradually get steeper as we descended further and further and soon we were hopping down the overgrown ledges. Suddenly, I stopped and grabbed Angel.

    "Listen."

    There was a faint trickling sound ahead coming from the stream. But, that wasn't it all. If you listened carefully you could hear a low singing voice. It was sad and mournful. Angel seemed to be intrigued by this sound and I saw him walk ahead. As we came around the clearing I saw a very rare Pokemon. It had pink skin and seeme to be cloaked in a black and white funeral dress.

    "Gothita?" it cried as we advanced.

    When they both took off they both began to walk towards the waters that were located in the craters of Meteor Valley. The wind whipped over the fields of grass creating a wave like effect over them. As they finally got near to the water Jay stopped him.

    "Listen." Jay said sternly.

    Angel obeyed and strained his ears for any different sounds than the ones he could already hear. Angel first heard the trickling noise from the water nearby but he next heard a faint singing sound. He smiled knowing it was a pokemon. Angel then strained his eyes trying to look for the source. Finally they reached a clearing and Angel saw the source. It was a pale skinned pokemon of medium height. It was pale skinned and looked to have a black and white dress. It reminded him of some of the crazy dressed people that he would see at some unique conventions in the main cities. He knew this pokemon though. He knew it was called a Gothorita and was only in the second stage of a three stage evolution. He also knew one more thing about it. It was a psychic type. It wasn’t his first choice but it certainly was a rare pokemon. He couldn’t just pass this up.

    “Okay little guy, you’re going to be my first catch today.” Angel said as he rolled his backpack off his shoulders and onto the moist ground below him, allowing him more flexibility. He reached into one of the pockets in his pants and pulled out a small red and white marble. He pressed the center button and expanded it to the size of a baseball. He dropped it at his feet and it fell to the ground. It bounced on the ground and as it jumped back into the air it split open revealing a splash of white light. The ball then closed and returned to Angel’s hand. The white light moved in front of Angel and Jay and began to take shape. The light sprouted legs, arms and a head almost like a human. However no hands formed and its head formed a point. Finally a green color was added and the release process was completed.

    “Cactuuuurne.” The pokemon shouted in confidence. He turned to get a good look at both the unknown pokemon in front of him and his own trainer. He stood tall and proud, Angel was happy to have such a pokemon on his team. The pokemon knew how to fight and listen well. The pokemon was not originally his but it might have well been so. They had been together for awhile. Then despite the Cacturne’s nickname Angel did appreciate him being on his team.

    “Okay Grunt, welcome to Meteor Valley, that little Gothorita is going to be your opponent. Let’s make this a good battle okay?” Grunt nodded and faced his confirmed opponent. Grunt was much taller than the Gothorita being about half his size, and he did all that he could to let his opponent know that. He tried his best to intimidate his opponent. Making constant eye contact and narrowing his eyes were some of the things he liked to do. In this moment he had also elected to stiffen his body as much as he could, giving the sense that he was an immovable object. He did well at showing off his Dark type. Angel smiled; this is one of the things he liked about his personality.

    ‘Oh this I have to see.’ A voice said through his mind and Angel smiled even more. He knew that his closest partner loved to give the half dark type a hard time. At that a second bright light lit up the area, this time it seemed to spill out of Angel’s pocket; the same one that he had pulled out the first pokeball. The light took form revealing small arms and a long flowing dress. Color was added and it was revealed to be Angel’s Gardevoir. As soon as the process was complete the Gardevoir put her hands on her hips and began to speak to the Cacturne in a rushed aggravated tone, all the while keeping her mental link open to Angel so he could understand what was being said.

    ‘Oh yeah, you think you’re so badass. Picking on the little psychic pokemon and acting so intimidating. She must be a few years younger than you; oh that makes you a punk alright.’ At this Grunt got grew an anger tick next to his eye has he tried to get a word in. He didn’t, and she continued.

    ‘Yeah, you think because your part dark you can take on any psychic type you can find? Would you like me to remind you of the last time you tried to take me on?’ At this Grunt nearly stumbled over; the memories still fresh in his mind. At this point Angel was holding his gut and laughing while watching his partner Grunt get his pride and bold personality torn apart by his Gardevoir, Rayl. He knew she was just joking as this was the relationship the two had. They would regularly go back and forth biting each other’s heads off whenever a chance came up. However, he knew that the two would have each other’s back in an instant if the need arose.

    Angel finally decided to cease Rayl’s fun. “Okay, that’s enough, I have a battle I have to get on with Rayl, and you will stay out unless I need you, but Grunt is fighting this thing, and you will behave while he battles.” He said sternly. She just looked at him in a way that told him she would never do anything of the sort, putting on an innocent face. Angel just shook his head and smiled. He turned back to Grunt to see that he had gotten most of his composure back; he wasn’t going to let such a low blow best him for this battle.

    Angel knew it was now time to begin. The little Gothorita had been so nice to wait and actually seemed to enjoy the once scary pokemon turned into a giant stumbling plant. “Okay Grunt, let’s start with a little fire practice! Hit it with a Pin Missile; throw a few Poison Sting attacks into there as well!” Angel knew that Grunt wasn’t a relatively fast pokemon but it could still move relatively well. It ran off to the side and the spikes on his body began to glow white. A few of them also glowed purple. He slid to a stop and let loose a barrage of needles. Most of them were white, marking the Pin Missile attack, the rest were purple, marking the poison sting attack. They flew at the Gothorita in a shower of needles. If it could avoid the rain of pin pricks he would be thoroughly surprised.

    "Okay, little guy. You're going to be my first catch today," Jack said enthusiastically. He slipped his bag off of his shoulds where it landed with a plopping sound in the mud. He then whipped out a small Pokeball, and tossed it ahead. After a brief spell of white light, the form of a hat-wearing cactus appeared. Its mouth looked like it had been sewn on and its face spelt mischief. “Cactuuuurne," it crowed as it arched its back and spread its shoulders out wide. I guess that it was trying to intimidate the Gothita with its broad shoulders. Gothita held her gaze firmly and I couldn't help but admire her fearlessness.

    The Gothita's attention flickered to another blast of white light as the shape of a Gardevoir took hold beside Cacturne. Her dress-like parts flowed in the wind and she focused her amber eyes on the Cacturne. I couldn't quite tell what was going on but I figured the two Pokemon were communicating.

    “Okay, that’s enough, I have a battle I have to get on with Rayl, and you will stay out unless I need you, but Grunt is fighting this thing, and you will behave while he battles.”

    A few seconds later, Cacturne gave a disgusted grunt and turned to face Gothita. Gardevoir seemed to retreat a little as the battlers prepared themselves. Gothita's stern gaze still locked onto Cacturne. It seemed neither of these intimidation attempts worked.

    “Okay Grunt, let’s start with a little fire practice! Hit it with a Pin Missile; throw a few Poison Sting attacks into there as well!” Cacturne leapt forward as quick as a flash, spreading both arms upward. He seemed to tense for a second before his eyes darted open once more. Several pointed spines shot forward. Gothita seemed a little too ataken back by this sudden movement and seemed frozen to the spot. The spiky needles shot straight towards her, most piercing her soft skin. She cringed a little, possibly hinting at becoming poisoned by one of these needles.

    "Goth," it whimpered sadly, before letting out a low mournful song again. Cacturne, despite being well known for its harsh nature, seemed to regret his movements. His head bowed down in shame. Gothita took this moment to use some sort of powers to cause three large rocks to raise and shoot towards Cacturne. She mustn't have been concentrating too hard as only two of these rocks hit Cacturne. They didn't even seem to hurt it really.

    Angel watched as the needled soared towards the little Gothorita. The needles impacted across the Gothorita and peppered the ground, bringing up dust up and around the little black and white pokemon. As the dust cleared little black needles could be seen around Gothorita and some of them had impacted upon it. It was a direct hit. The little pokemon seemed to be in pain and Grunt took notice. Angel noticed that Grunt seemed hurt by what he had done to the little pokemon, this was unusual considering his personality. Rayl noticed it too.

    ‘Oh, now he shows compassion, after he hit the thing.’

    Angel knew it was more than that. Their opponent had hit back using a charm attack. This basically negated the use of any physical attacks in the future of this battle, but on the other hand he realized if he had to hit her with weak attacks he now had a way to do it. For now he would have to stick to use special attacks. Before he could call out a second move however the Gothorita begun her own. Using her unique psychic power three huge rocks were lifted off the ground like the gravity around them had disappeared. They then shot at Cacturne. Two of the three rocks landed hits on Cacturne successfully knocking him to the ground and lowering his speed. The third rock missed Cacturne however. This seemed to be a good thing until.

    “Oh shit!” Angel didn’t have enough time to jump out of the way of the freight training boulder. Luckily he didn’t need to. He felt something grab onto his hand and in an instance he was about ten feet away from where he had just been. Rayl had taken it upon herself to save her trainer’s life with the use of a Teleport attack. Whoever said that attack was useless apparently had never been about to die.

    “Thanks Rayl, your amazing.” He said, his heart feeling like a thousand horses was racing. He looked back at his pokemon, whom was back up and showing concern for his trainer. He nodded and Grunt turned his attention back to his opponent, not enjoying the fact that his trainer had almost been killed by her.

    Angel went though his arsenal. He could use Sandstorm, it would cause damage to his opponent but not himself as well as make Grunt harder to hit. He could also use Leech Seed or Ingrain to help absorb more health. Angel also remembered the Energy Ball attack he had taught to Grunt. He didn’t have too many STAB grass attacks that were special before so Energy Ball was a great attack to teach it. This however would be used only if he wanted to do big damage again. So he decided against it. He figured the best course of action would be to be prepared.

    “Grunt! I want you to start off this time with a Sandstorm attack! Follow that up with a Leech Seed attack!” He chose Leech Seed over Ingrain this time because Ingrain severely hampers Grunt’s ability to avoid attacks as it’s tied to the ground. Ingrain would also mean that he couldn’t switch out for another pokemon if worse came to worse. Leech Seed sapped health from the enemy and replenished Grunt’s health at the same time; he only hoped that the attack didn’t end up killing it before he could catch it. He was going to have to be careful there.

    Grunt then began to execute the attack. He began to move his arms in circles. At first nothing seemed to happen but when Angel looked at the ground he noticed some of the dirt was beginning to become loose. Some of it then started to kick up and slowly but surely the dirt rose into a mini sand storm. The sand encircled Grunt like a big brown shield. It then grew wider as more sand was added until in engulfed the Gothorita. It was an impressive site, seeing the area go from calm to being devoured in sand. Angel reached into his bad and pulled out a piece of clothing he could use to breathe through. Seeing was going to be a bitch for him but he knew that Grunt could see perfectly well in this. He knew that the little Gothorita was getting hurt in this and Grunt should be beginning the Leech Seed attack.

    Grunt was doing just that. He pointed his right arm forward and one of the spikes near the end of his arm popped off and shot at the Gothorita. The little thorn honed in on the Gothorita. Angel knew that it would most likely hit, even in this storm. Once it did the thorn would sprout vines like they were just given super Miracle Gro. They would ensnare the little pokemon and begin to drain health away from it.

    Angel waited for the hit conformation from Grunt. He couldn’t see so Grunt would let him know and then Angel would then decide the next action. He kept the piece of cloth over his mouth and nose as he tried to squint through the storm.

    In a split second, I saw Gardevoir flicker out of existence, grab Angel by the scruff of the neck, and teleport back to where she was standing. There was a huge crashing sound as the boulder smashed against the ground, splintering into even smaller pieces. Angel's face went a stark red colour and his Gardevoir flicked the bottom of her dress-like body and turned around. Angel seemed lost for words for a few seconds before speaking.

    “Thanks Rayl, your amazing.” It took Angel another few seconds before he sent his moves. I wasn't sure if this was because he was still in shock from the close call with the rock or if he genuinely was thinking of what moves he could use. “Grunt! I want you to start off this time with a Sandstorm attack! Follow that up with a Leech Seed attack!” He said confidently. That was an interesting choice of moves so I was interested to see how it would turn out, to be honest. Cacturne did a mocking sort of grin before starting to swing his arms around and around in circles, like they were some sort of mini windmills. I wasn't sure whether this was working or not, until I saw that the dust below was moving. As the arms swerved faster more and more dirt began to fly through the air. Eventually, larger pieces of rocks and clumps of grass joined in the mini sandstorm.

    Angel took a cloth out of his pocket and covered his face with it. I covered my mouth with the top of my shirt. It was gonna be a lot harder for him being in the "eye of the storm". Gothorita seemed confused by the blowing sand and she began to run around in circles, eyes closed as the sand clumps pelted her. I did feel sorry but I couldn't interfere. Cacturne tried to take advantage of this, but the seeds he shot were miless off from the constantly-moving Gothorita. As I peered through the sand, I thought it might have been a mirage as I saw several Gothorita's-- that is until I realised that Gothorita was using Double Team. This would be very tricky for Cacturne and Gothorita now..

    I gave a flick of my wrist and a Pokeball shot forward. In a burst of temporary light, a large fish-like creature, with a "derpy" expression came out.

    "Fissssk" it yelped, before diving into the edges of the sandstorm. It began to swim gracefully through the torrent of flying sand, rocks and grass. Poor Stunfisk really was an odd Pokemon, but I guess it needed to stretch its hypothetical legs.

    Angel squinted through the sandstorm trying to see what had happened. It looked like leech seed hadn’t come anywhere close to the Gothorita. Angel rolled his eyes at his luck. Then Angel saw something out of the corner of his eyes. He saw what he would call one of the ugliest pokemon he’d ever seen. It seems that his ranger Jay had decided to release his pokemon. He had never seen a Stunfisk before but decided right then that he would never want to own one. He half wanted to shoot the thing; it actually scared him a little. He tried to ignore it but the thing was swimming around in the sandstorm, unaffected. Angel shook his head and squinted back into the sandstorm. He saw Grunt standing strong and the Gothorita was having trouble in the sand.

    Angel went through his arsenal once more, he could try a leech seed again but the same thing would probably end up happening. He still didn’t want to use his Ingrain attack, for he wanted Grunt mobile. There were two options he figured. He could use Grunt’s very powerful Sucker Punch, but he wasn’t sure if the Gothorita would even attack. He decided to use that one later. Angel decided his best option would be to use a move he had given grunt specifically. Energy Ball would be a good attack to use in this situation. He also realized however that he had to use the sand storm to his advantage. His brain began to spin as fast as the storm. But that was it; that was how he could use the sand storm. He began his moves.

    “Grunt, I want you to use Energy Ball! I want you to use it a few times. Fire it into the storm, not directly at Gothorita. Use the storm to increase the power of the energy ball!” Angel screamed into the storm.

    Grunt acknowledged Angel in a heartbeat and launched three energy balls into the storm. Grunt put his two cactus type arms together and a small ball of green energy began to form. The ball grew until it was almost touching both of the cactus arms. The Ball seemed to swirl with rings of white. The ball itself seemed to have the same shade of green as perfectly watered spring grass. If there were no sandstorm, Angel wondered if he would even be able to smell grass coming from the attack. Once it was fully charged he shot the first one into the storm. The next two shots loaded up in Grunt’s hands much faster and were shot off in quick succession. The vortex of sand caught the balls of grass energy and they flew through the air. The scene looked like three comets flying through the night’s sky. He didn’t know why considering comets looks blue in the starry sky, and the sky didn’t look anything like a sandstorm at night. He shook his head at the bizarre similarities he built in his head. All Angel hoped was that the sand empowered energy balls would impact the little Gothorita; which is why he shot three of them. Shooting the energy balls like this would make them a lot less accurate, and even worse they could end up striking Grunt, or worse himself. He had already been saved once by Rayl. He wasn’t really keen to being saved again. One thing that was on their side was the fact that Gothorita could see worse in the storm than Grunt did thanks to his association with sandstorms. It was possible that Gothorita didn’t even know the attack was coming, or so he hoped.

    OOC: @PokeViper Want me to mention you like this in each of my posts? Also tell me if I forgot anything, I cbf reading more than the last two posts xD

    ~~~~~
    I strolled down the path that descended into Meteor Valley. I'd been told to go get one of the rangers - his vacation leave had been approved. It was actually kind of sad, because rumour was that he'd be leaving after his vacation ended, but we couldn't keep everyone with us forever.
    The Ranger's GPS tag told me he was about halfway down the valley, near one of the local watering holes. I jumped over a fallen tree and looked around. Thankfully, it wasn't hard to locate him - a raging sandstorm was over near the edge of the pools. Sure enough, the Ranger was standing off to the side, supervising a battle. I walked over quietly and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned and smiled at me. I muttered a quick sentence into his ear and he nodded before recalling his Pokemon, a Stunfisk. Personally, I thought Stunfisk were horrid-looking creatures, but he liked it for some reason. We shook hands and he walked off up the path. I really hoped it wasn't the last time I'd see him.
    I turned back to look at the battle, but it was hard to see into the storm. I turned on a filter on my visor - heat vision - and a couple blobs appeared in the storm. One was shaped like a small person, and the other was the very recognisable shape of a Cacturne.
    “Grunt, I want you to use Energy Ball! I want you to use it a few times. Fire it into the storm, not directly at Gothorita. Use the storm to increase the power of the energy ball!” I heard a voice yell. I looked around, but I couldn't see the Trainer. He must have been on the other side of the storm.
    I watched as the Cacturne pointed both of its arms up and to the left of the Gothorita - at least I knew now which Pokemon was the Trainer's. The Grass-type fired three Energy Balls in quick succession. They curved around in the storm, heading towards the Gothorita. The Psychic-type curled up into a ball to try to mimimise the chance of being hit. The first Energy Ball struck the Wild Pokemon on its leg, and the second sailed straight past and exploded against the ground. The third hit the Gothorita on the head, knocking it backwards.
    After getting back onto its feet, the Gothorita held its hands out towards the Cacturne. It looked like a mirror image. Small sparks began jumping around in her hands, and a couple seconds later a Thunderbolt jumped across the arena, striking Grunt cleanly in the chest. It didn't seem to bother him much though, and I knew why - Electric-type attacks weren't very effective against Grass-typed Pokemon.
    Angel watched the three glows of green through the sandstorm. They spun until finally they descended on the little Gothorita. Two of them hit and the third one impacted the ground, kicking up even more dust and rocks. Angel then watched as the little Gothorita picked itself up off the ground and countered. Angel’s hair stood on edge as electricity filled the air. In front of him where the Gothorita was standing he heard the cackle of electricity forming in front of him. The electricity became visible in front of the Gothorita, and took no specific shape. Gothorita then shot off the electricity towards Grunt. Grunt didn’t try to dodge the attack, and for good reason, electricity had little effect on a pokemon like Cacturne. Grunt took the attack head on and didn’t even flinch. Angel smiled at the Gothorita’s choice of attacks. It didn’t even get STAB.
    Rayl, Angel’s Gardevoir was still nearby watching the action. She was actually impressed with how Grunt was doing in the battle. But she wouldn’t be the one to tell him that. She knew that the little Gothorita had no shot at getting out of this battle without being captured. There was no way Grunt would lose, but she would still give him crap later for not doing a better job. After all, Grunt was a fully evolved pokemon and the Gothorita was not. Rayl decided to introduce herself to the new ranger. She seemed to float towards the new ranger and tilted her head in a gesture of greeting. She could have chosen to communicate with the new ranger telepathically but she felt she enjoyed having her link only with her ranger. Instead she used her native tongue to introduce herself to the ranger. She did feel the presence of another psychic pokemon. Perhaps the ranger had a psychic pokemon with him. She did feel a little twinge of worry about who the psychic pokemon was but shrugged it off.
    Angel felt right away that the best choice of action here would be to go on the move now. “Grunt, time to move, you can see it well in this storm, she can’t. Get in close and attack that Gothorita hard with a Needle Arm attack!” Grunt took off. His feet drug into the ground and used the sand as a kick off. He moved in a zig zag pattern. Bits of sand were kicked up and then picked up by the storm everywhere his foot touched. When he got close enough to the Gothorita, Grunt decided to pull off a little unique battling himself. Instead of attacking the Gothorita He smashed his Needle Arm attack into the ground sending sand towards Gothorita. Then without being able to see the Gothorita the needles on his arm grew again for another Needle Arm attack and he swung it through the sand where he remembered the Gothorita was just at.
    Angel knew there were other things he could do. He still wanted to use Sucker Punch being a good dark attack against a psychic pokemon. He knew that would be his finishing move though. That would be the move he would use before finally trying to capture the thing. He wanted to move on to other pokemon. Maybe he would get lucky and come across the Natu he wanted. He of course, still wanted his Abra or Solosis though. There was one thing he thought about for his finishing move. He didn’t want Sucker Punch to miss, and if that little Gothorita decided not to attack, he was going to find himself a little screwed, and a whole turn would have been wasted. That is not what he wanted at all, he knew he had this in the bag but he didn’t want Grunt to take any more damage then he needed to.
    All Angel could go off was the fact that he trusted Grunt to get the job done, he couldn’t see anything in the storm, and even though he knew it worked to his advantage, he kind of wanted this sandstorm to end. He knew that the energy balls hit, but since Grunt had moved deeper into the storm he couldn’t see for sure.
    Don’t worry about Grunt, hes doing well in his own element. He’s also pulled off some interesting moves.’ This echoed through Angel’s mind and he turned to his Gardevoir, whom he noticed was right next to a new ranger. The other one must have had to leave. That would explain why he didn’t see that creepy ass pokemon anymore, but he wasn’t explaining. He was going to have to introduce himself to the new ranger after this battle. He responded to Rayl ‘You know if you had told me what was going on, so I could be better informed, heck you could have even told me what was going on before so I wouldn’t of had to squint through the sand this whole time!
    yeah but it’s so much more fun to see you covered in sand and dirt’ Angel rolled his eyes and responded. ‘You watch yourself missy, I know you, and I know how to get you back. Last I recalled you don’t like the cold too much do you’ She frowned, and Angel smiled. ‘yeah, that’s what I thought.’ He then returned to the battle, waiting to see how Grunt actually did.
    OOC: @PokeViper sorry this so long man, I swear I'll post faster from now on q.q
    ~~~~~

    As both Pokemon prepared to resume battling, I took a quick look around for the Trainer. He had to be here somewhere, but even with my heat vision lens it was really hard to make anything out. I managed to find a red blob that was growing steadily bigger, which usually means I was being approached by something. I disabled the filter and to my surprise I saw a Gardevoir approach me, her dress rippling fiercely in the wind created by the Sandstorm. She greeted me using her melodic voice, and I smiled and nodded in return. Inwardly, however, I was wincing - Dual was well-known for his tendencies to chase after Gardevoir. Thankfully, at the moment he was recovering from an intense training session in his PokeBall - with a little bit of luck he wouldn't notice anything until this half-completed run was over.

    The Gardevoir turned and I followed her around the edge of the Sandstorm, and finally I caught sight of my Trainer. He was fairly tall but seemed youthful, and his medium-length brown hair was whipping crazily around in the wind. It'd need a solid wash - thank God for the hood of my trenchcoat. The Gardevoir moved back to the Trainer's side and I concentrated back on the battle.

    “Grunt, time to move. You can see well in this storm, she can’t. Get in close and attack that Gothorita hard with a Needle Arm attack!” the young man yelled.

    My vision had started to adjust to the sandstorm, and heat vision left out a lot of details, so I decided to leave the filter off. I could just barely see the Cacturne rush towards the Gothorita, holding his arm out in front of him. The Psychic-type's eyes widened and she held both of her hands up towards the sky. A white-silver sheen covered her completely as the Cacturne sent sand spraying at the Wild Pokemon before ramming the deadly Needle Arm at the Psychic-type. There was a muffled detonation and sand scattered everywhere. I squinted my eyes to try and see better, but it didn't work. The battlefield was completely silent except for the Sandstorm.

    Finally, I got a glimpse of what was happening. The Gothorita didn't seem to have been affected by the Needle Arm, and she was swaying from side to side and looking very cute for the benefit of her opponent. Grunt wasn't moving either, apart from a slight shuffle backwards, and although it was incredibly hard to see I could almost swear that the Dark-type was blushing.

    (OOC: No its okay, Im patient, also, those last couple of characters were a pain in the ass, I just barely got them. :D)

    Angel had just about enough of this battle. The sandstorm was horrendous. It was getting into his shoes, eats, nose, and clothes. He wanted a shower and he wasn’t even out of the storm yet. He knew when he blew his nose it would be full of dirt and muck, he was going to need about twenty thousand q-tips o clean his ears and next time he took crap he was sure it would all be dust and sand. He didn’t want to even think about taking a walk; he knew how uncomfortable it was going to be with it all down his pants and rubbing up on… he shook the thoughts away and moved back to the action. Grunt’s idea worked well but not fully, the little Gothorita had decided to use substitute to block the attack. Then on top of that the little thing had decided to use attract on Grunt. ‘Wonderful…’ thought Angel.

    He was ready for this battle to end, which meant that he needed this sand to be over, or else he would not be able to throw a pokeball correctly. He needed this sandstorm to end, and he wasn’t willing to wait for the storm to end on its own, he had to find a way to end it with what he had. That meant disrupting the storm. He also knew attract wouldn’t be a problem since he wouldn’t be attacking the Gothorita itself. Angel went through his list of moves but couldn’t think of any, cotton spore would just spin with the storm, growth wouldn’t affect the storm, and everything he had done so far did nothing to the storm. There was one idea but he wasn’t sure if it was going to work. He decided to give it a try… just after he tried to attack the Gothorita.

    “Okay Grunt, there’s a few things I want you to do. First, I need you to cut that crap off, it’s just a little Gothorita don’t worry about hurting it, and you’ve already hurt it a lot! Second I need you to stop this sandstorm or else I won’t be able to catch it. Try using a Sandstorm attack again, this time though have the storm rotate the other direction. Hopefully the two cancel out. Next I want you to use a sucker punch attack to finish off the Gothorita! I don’t want you to kill it though so take it was!” Angel was pretty sure it wouldn’t knock out the pokemon because of how much Grunt’s attack power had been reduced.

    Grunt then set to work. First he worked by spinning in place the opposite direction the storm was spinning and created a second sandstorm, the first time he did this sand began to rise from his feet and created a vortex, this time however since there was already a storm and he was rotating a different direction this was a bit different. This time around the storm seemed to be spazzing out. In some parts of the storm the sand just seemed to fall to the ground and then it would get picked up again. It seemed to be working. Around Angel he could see more of the blue sky that he saw at the beginning of the battle. A storm could not spin in two directions. He had never seen a sandstorm on drugs, but because of how derpy this was looking he guessed this is what it would have looked like.

    Finally the sand began to dissipate and more sky could be seen. Cacturne stopped spinning and the rest of the sand settled to the ground, undisturbed. Angel then finally took the cloth off of his mouth, very thankfully. Angel saw his Cacturne still looking quite well and the Gothorita looked a lot worse for wear. I could also see the remnants of her substitute attack. Cacturne then moved in for his next attack. Angel knew this would all be based on whether or not Gothorita would actually attack or not but either way this would be his last attack. Grunt then began to act while at the same trying to shake off the fact that he was about to hit something he was infatuated with. Grunt tried his best to look intimidating, his dark characteristics radiated off of him. He ran at the little Gothorita, albeit a little bit held back. He then reared his cactus like arm behind him like he was about to punch it when he disappeared and reappeared right behind the Gothorita. Angel wasn’t sure if the attack would hit or not but now was the time to act.

    Angel swung the backpack off of him and onto the dirt with a soft plop. He reached into his bag and pulled out a super ball on the first try. To be honest he was a bit surprised as when it came to finding stuff in his bag he was as organized as a door, that is to say, it was non-existant. It actually took him a second or two to realize he got what he needed on his first adventure into his bag. He stood back up but it was a little too fast and he dropped the ball back on the ground. The initial amazingness of just cleared the trial of the bag was just shot down by his fail with the super ball. With his luck now he was next going to try and capture the Gothorita and was going to hit his Grunt instead… This was going to be intresting.

    Rayl watched all this with interest, when she saw him after the storm had died she couldn’t help but laugh because everything about him was covered in sand. She was going to give him a hard time about that one. Even his skin tone had changed due to all the sand. She then laughed out loud once again at his antics with his pokeball and his backpack. Despite that she had faith in him and knew that in a few minutes. She then watched Angel throw is super ball at the Gothorita…

    The Trainer seemed to have noticed that Grunt was Attracted to the Gothorita, and he seemed displeased. “Okay Grunt, there’s a few things I want you to do. First, I need you to cut that crap off: it’s just a little Gothorita! Don’t worry about hurting it, and you’ve already hurt it a lot! Second I need you to stop this sandstorm or else I won’t be able to catch it. Try using a Sandstorm attack again, this time though have the storm rotate the other direction. Hopefully the two cancel out. Next I want you to use a sucker punch attack to finish off the Gothorita! I don’t want you to kill it though," he called out.

    The Cacturne began waving its arms around in the air, and I faintly noticed streams of sand blowing against the existing wind. The streams widened and soon there were full-on sand-on-sand clashes all around the arena. Patches of blue sky became visible against the brown/yellow sand.

    I looked over at the Gothorita, and strangely, it was just watching the Cacturne. I thought I saw some pink/purple energy playing around her head, but with the two competing Sandstorms I wasn't sure of anything I could see. When the sand eventually died down into a few twisting streams, the energy was completely gone.

    Grunt lowered his arms and darted forwards as dark energy gathered in a huge heap around his left fist. He jinked low and struck the Psychic-type in its chest, but the blow looked weak and glancing, as if he was purposely holding his power back. The Gothorita's retaliation did no such thing - I heard a high pitched sound, and a wave of compressed air blasted outwards from the Wild Pokemon. Grunt was sent flying into the air and the Sandstorms both dissipated completely. I watched the Cacturne land heavily on the ground next to his Trainer as the human dropped his backpack onto the ground and pulled out a Super Ball. The capture device flew through the air and struck the Gothorita on its arm. The Wild Pokemon was converted into red energy and absorbed into the sphere, which shook for a couple seconds before laying still and emitting a faint red light.

    "Congratulations on the capture," I called out as I walked over to the Trainer. I'd grab the ball after introducing myself. "My name is James Carter." I extended my hand for him to shake.

    Angel was happy to finally be done with this battle. Seeing the Gothorita not explode from the pokeball was a nice sight, this battle was beginning to get annoying.

    "Congratulations on the capture," I called out as I walked over to the Trainer. I'd grab the ball after introducing myself. "My name is James Carter." I extended my hand for him to shake.

    Angel took his hand and shook it. “Pleasure to meet you; I assume the other ranger had to go. My name is Angel as you probably figured out, I’m here trying to collect me some psychic pokemon. Im very interested in catching a Solosis and an Abra, any other pokemon would be very nice as well ya know?” Angel said to James. “I happen to have a disk for both those pokemon, I have a Natu disk as well.”

    Angel went to play his pokeplayer once more however before he pressed the play button he heard his cell phone ringing, he motioned to his ranger his apology and answered his phone.

    “Hello… yes… yes… really?! What did I win…? Oh no way! Well thankyou! I’m at the National Park now and I’ll have to pick it up after my run if you don’t mind… Okay… thankyou, have a great day, I know I will!” Angel hung up and turned to James.

    “It seems I don’t need to us an Abra disk, it seems I won one in a contest I entered so I don’t have to worry about that.” Jack said and instead reached into his bag and pulled out a second disk, it was his Solosis disk. Once again right before he pressed play his phone rang again. He rolled his eyes and gave James the jester for ‘one second.’ He answered his phone again and had a second conversation.

    “Hello…? Oh hey dude, how are you… oh cool what’s up…? Oh really! Dude that would be great! Seriously thanks dude! I was actually here at the National Park looking for one, glad to see I don’t have to worry about not finding one…! Again, thanks dude!” and Angel hung up. He turned to James.

    “Looks like I’m twice as lucky today. That was my friend; he just told me that he decided to give me his Reuniculus, for free! Guess I don’t need to worry about that!”

    Angel reached into his bag once more and pulled out a third disk, his Natu disk. He placed it into his player and closed it. He went to press the play button, and hesitated, he looked at his pocket waiting for it to ring, when it didn’t he pressed play and the sound of Natu’s cry echoed in the valley.

    OOC: @PokeViper Don't just c/p my paragraphs, dude -_-

    ~~~~~
    “Pleasure to meet you. I assume the other Ranger had to go? My name is Angel as you probably figured out. I’m here trying to collect me some Psychic Pokemon. I'm very interested in catching a Solosis and an Abra, any other Pokemon would be very nice as well ya know? I happen to have a disk for both those pokemon, I have a Natu disk as well,” the young man said as he took my hand and shook it vigorously. I wasn't used to the rapid-fire speech style the man had, so I just stood there nodding my head dumbly.
    Suddenly, his phone rang. He picked it up and seemed surprised. Apparently he'd won something in some kind of contest. He organised to pick it up after finishing his run. “It seems I don’t need to use an Abra disk - it seems I won one in a contest I entered so I don’t have to worry about that,” Angel explained. He ejected the disk from the player on his belt and it put in his bag before replacing it with a different one. Just when he was about to press play again, his phone rang once again. He gave me an apologetic smile and answered it. Just like last time, it seemed that he'd lucked into a Pokemon, and when he hung the phone up, I found out I was right.
    “Looks like I’m twice as lucky today. That was my friend - he just told me that he decided to give me his Reuniculus, for free! Guess I don’t need to worry about that!” Angel exclaimed. As he swapped out the second disk for a third one, I wanted to warn him about the dangers of accepting free gifts, but I decided to keep my mouth shut. Maybe his friend wasn't training Pokemon any more or something equally legitimate.
    Angel pressed the play button on his device and a small squeaky chirp emitted from the device. I recognised it as the call of a Natu - they'd been popular targets ever since breeders had managed to teach them the incredibly rare Magic Bounce Ability. After a quick nod at his choice, I led the young man deeper into the canyon.
    About two minutes later, we were walking down the middle of a thin ravine. I heard a slight meow and I looked up to some rocks on the high ground. A black cat was curled up in a ball, looking down on us with contempt. Its tail was swaying from side to side, and on every third sway it meowed softly.
    "I don't suppose you want to try caching a Purrloin?" I asked Angel, pointing up at the Dark-type.
    Angel looked at the Purrloin with minor dissatisfaction. Angel looked towards his ranger and shook his head “This isn’t what I wanted, lets try to leave this little guy alone.” Angel said hoping he could finds something better than this silly purple cat. He began to walk away hoping the little Purrloin would leave him and his ranger alone.
    Angel shook his head, apparently not interested in the little black cat. “This isn’t what I wanted, lets try to leave this little guy alone,” he said before moving off away from the canyon wall. The Purrloin didn't seem too happy about this - it hissed and batted its paw at the Trainer before disappearing from sight. I shrugged, and followed my Trainer, hoping that the cat wouldn't take offence and search for a way to take revenge. Still, if I had any experience with felines at all, I knew that the likelihood of this wasn't too high.
    I caught up with Angel and we moved away from the canyon wall, walking down a gentle incline towards a thicket of brown shrubs. Before we could reach them however, a small black Pokemon flew in front of us and started dancing around happily. It was mostly circular but with two thin arms, one notably longer than the other. In the centre of its round body was a single eye, which winked happily at us.
    "I don't suppose you're interested in trying to capture an Unown?" I asked Angel. "They're supposed to contain mysterious, unbelievable powers."
    @Chainreaction; Sir yes sir! Chainy sir! sorry sir! :p
    ___
    Angel and his ranger walked until they came upon an Unown. He thought they were very cool considering how diverse they were. They all took the shape of different letters in the alphabet and he had even heard of unown being spotted that took the shape of a question mark or an exclamation point. This one however seemed to look like the letter “R.” Angel was disappointed because he liked the idea of owning an Unown, especially if it took the shape of one of the rarer symbols. However he was only allowed to leave the park with 3 pokemon. He decided it was better to move along. He then turned to his ranger
    “I think I’ll be okay without this Unown. I will say I like it more than the Purrloin though” Angel turned to the Unown. “Thanks little guy for letting us see you. We’ll leave you alone though.” And Angel turned to leave, when he did he snapped his fingers and got the idea to use his disk. He pulled out his Natu disk again and put it into his player. The sound of the cry echoed in this section of the park...
    OOC: @PokeViper; Here you are, sir.
    ~~~~~

    “I think I’ll be okay without this Unown. I will say I like it more than the Purrloin though," the young man grinned. “Thanks little guy for letting us see you. We’ll leave you alone though,” he said to the Psychic-type.

    The Unown bobbed gracefully a couple times before flying off in the direction we had come. I got the feeling that it was going to have a look at the Purrloin that Angel had mentioned, but I couldn't be sure. At the back of my mind I didn't think that Unown had the mental capacity to understand human speech, but I knew that that was wrong. Especially when they gathered in groups.

    Angel pressed a button on his Pokeplayer and the circular device emitted a bird-like screech. I didn't recognise it immediately, but it sounded similar to River Tam, the Xatu of one of our older Rangers. It was probably a Natu - Trainers usually preferred to catch unevolved Pokemon because they were easier to battle and could be taught battling skills from the ground up. I knew that my little brother Jathan preferred this method, although I believed that Pokemon trained from the ground up lost some of their innate fighting skills.

    A small blue Pokemon bounced towards us before we could start off. It yapped at Angel and grinned up at him happily. I raised my eyebrow in surprise - Wynaut were fairly rare in Meteor Valley. However, they weren't particularly useful in battles because of their lack of offensive techniques. In the end, it was up to my Trainer to decide whether or not he wanted to battle with it.

    Angel watched the unown float away and thought he was missing out on a very cool pokemon. He had bigger plans however and perhaps in the future he would come back for the unown.

    After playing the pokeplayer Angel was a little disappointed to see it had not worked. Instead a Wynaut came out. Now even thought Angel thought that Wynaut were one of the most adorable pokemon ever, it still evolved into one of the most derpy pokemon ever. Wobbufett wasn’t very good for battling either. Angel decided that this wasn’t what he wanted.

    “Naw I don’t think I want a Wynaut.” Angel said to his ranger. He looked at the Wynaut, smiled at it and waved hoping it didn’t want to fight. He then pulled out his pokeplayer for a second try.
