Individual RP: Dinobot

NBP #1 @Dinobot;

The blonde was humming to herself as she sifted through papers, her purple highlights falling by her face. Her Raichu, Venus, was grabbing papers from the other side of the messy desk and throwing them about higgeldy-piggeldy, giggling to herself as she did. The electric mouse loved to cause mischief. This time, though, Zor wasn't really paying attention. She was reading the profile of her next Trainer, Leo. He apparently wanted to head into the Enigma Ruins, where every Trainer dreamed of going to catch all sort of Pokemon. Who knew what they were going to come across there. Zor signed the proper paperwork and filled out her logs before heading out, catching the Raichu causing trouble.

"Vee, stop that!" Zor scolded half-heartedly, knowing Venus would probably just laugh. Indeed, that's what happened, but the Raichu relented when Zor returned her to her ball. It was time to get prepared for the run in the famous Enigma Ruins, where one could meet any Pokemon at all at any time.

A few days later she was running for the docks, huffing and puffing since she was running late. She had all her things ready to go; and this time, she took a team of 4 Pokemon just in case she needed them. Enigma Ruins was no cakewalk, after all. She needed Pokemon of varying types to get through that part of the Park. She caught sight of the Trainer and she slowed down considerably, trying to look professional and not like a maniac running to get to her destination. She really should have borrowed a Psychic type Pokemon to Teleport her here... that probably would have made things easier. Zor adjusted her Poke Balls on her belt and tightened the arms of the jacket that was tied at her waist. She may have need of it at one point since they were going to a place where the climate varied greatly.

Approaching the Trainer, she stuck out her hand and gave him a friendly smile. He looked to be about her age or perhaps older, accompanied by a Houndoom by his side. Venus, who had been keeping pace behind Zorayda, tilted her head at the other Pokemon curiously.

"Hi! I'm your Ranger today. My name is Zorayda. You must be Leo," she introduced. She glanced down at the dual-type Pokemon and gave a friendly nod. "And hello to you, too," she added. Zor never discounted the Pokemon that acted as companions to their Trainers; they were what made Trainers, after all. She stuck her hand in her pocket and pulled out a hair clip, bracelet jingling. She put her streaked hair up with practiced ease and then clapped her hands together once, bouncing on her toes.

"All right, then, let's get to it! To the Enigma Ruins," she finished, and began to lead them to the gate, Venus trotting on all fours behind her.

"So Shadow, what did you think of that Enigma run we did yesterday?" I asked my partner Pokemon, Shadow the Houndoom. Shadow just shrugged and yawned. "Yeah, wasn't too great, didn't really find anything interesting. Poliwag was the only decent thing, and even then I didn't really want it. Oh well, we're headed back there today, can't base an opinion on one go. We'll see how it goes this time around and if we find decent Pokemon then perhaps we'll go back again." Shadow didn't really care where we went, he was going to follow me either way. Shadow went with my on my runs each and every time. We headed out to the location we needed to be at. Apparently we were being taken by a new ranger. I was glad we were getting new team members because the current Rangers were on temporary leave.

"Hi! I'm your Ranger today. My name is Zorayda. You must be Leo," she introduced. "And hello to you, too," she said looking down at Shadow.

"Hey, good to meet you. I'm Leo, and this here is Shadow."

"All right, then, let's get to it! To the Enigma Ruins," she finished, and began to lead us to the gate and so the adventure began.

The Ranger and her Trainer came upon the entrance to Enigma Ruins. Before entering, Zorayda turned around clapped her hands together, readying herself for a small speech.

"Okay, you've got everything you need? Let's go in, then; you've been here before, so you know what to expect, I'm sure," she commented. The Ruins could be confusing to any who hadn't been there before; the morphing landscape and strange nature of the Enigma Ruins allowed for many Pokemon. Such a place required mountains, water, forest, anything one could think of... With a short nod that Leo had understood what he was in for, Zor opened the gates and entered. Venus followed them, curious about the Ruins since she'd never been before. Zor would let her wander around with them, despite her habit of causing mischief. They came upon the entrance to the underground caverns where the landscape was able to constantly change and where massive amounts of Pokemon lived. They walked for a little ways until they came upon a path, where one could choose to go in either direction. The path to the right was smothered in overgrown ivy and gave off a hot, humid atmosphere. Trees and plants hung over the tread ground and buzzing could be heard all around them. On the left, the plants thinned out to reveal a crumbling rocky path, where craggy stones jutted out and led to a much more arid atmosphere.

"All right, Leo, I'm going to do something special for you," Zorayda began. "I'm going to let you choose... which path do you want to go on first?" She asked, smirking. The Ranger figured that he'd appreciate being able to choose where to look for the Pokemon he wanted first, and though there were more different types of landscapes even further, these two were closest to where the pathway to Enigma Ruins began.

"All right, Leo, I'm going to do something special for you," My Ranger said, I was beginning to like where this was going. "I'm going to let you choose... which path do you want to go on first?" She asked, smirking. I wasn't sure if she was teasing me or not. Once I figured out that wasn't what she meant, I looked at both paths and shrugged. "The one on the right seems more 'dangerous' I guess, let's go that way then. Hopefully we'll encounter something good, instead of something extremely common like a Bidoof.

Zorayda nodded affirmation of Leo's choice. The thick, forested area did look very promising--it seemed to teem with life and the possibility of a horde of Pokemon. The Ranger looked down at her Raichu and patted its head.

"All right, Venus, you're going to need to Return. I need Viola out, just in case we need a little fiery backup," Zor told the mouse. Venus pouted, ears drooping, but relented. "It's okay. I may need you to help us later," the Ranger promised her Pokemon. The Raichu nodded and allowed herself to be returned to her ball. The young woman put her Poke Ball back onto her belt and plucked another from the four she was carrying. A red stream of light exited the ball and led to the ground, where a beautiful, creamy-furred Ninetales materialized, blinking in the sunlight. Viola the Ninetales looked up with curious amber eyes at her mistress.

"We're going into the wooded area now, Viola, so we might need you as backup if things go bad," the Ranger informed her Pokemon. The intelligent fox nodded, tails swishing. She licked Zor's hand and got to her paws, regarding Leo's Houndoom. Her jaw parted and her tongue hung to the side in a friendly doggie grin.

"Okay, here we go." The Ranger and the Trainer stepped into the woods, their feet crunching across a thick layer of fallen leaves. As they got further in, the trees got more plentiful, their many leaves blocking out the sun and leaving only small spots of light upon the ground. Zor was careful to snap a few branches as they went, marking their trail. Chittering bugs and rodents could be heard around them, quieting when they got closer. The wild Pokemon here were cautious. Soon the trees got so thick that it was getting difficult to trek through. If only they had something to cut through the brush...

Zor saw Leo keep an eye out for Pokemon, his eyes drawn by colorful plants and flowers. The scent in the air was woodsy and fresh, like pine and flowers. It was very refreshing, though the air was a bit thick to breathe. Looking up, Zorayda spotted something that Leo hadn't; a Pokemon, watching them and hanging upside-down from a branch. The tan-furred creature's eyes blinked lazily at them, though Zor knew better than to assume it was passive. She could barely make out its dark stripes along its back through the dappled light the trees allowed. The Ranger nudged her Trainer and pointed it out.

"Slakoth," she commented. "Would you like to try catching this Pokemon?"

"All right, Venus, you're going to need to Return." My ranger said to her Raichu. The electric mouse seemed hesitant, but did not disobey. "It's okay. I may need you to help us later," she said, assuring the small rodent. With that, she sent another Pokemon out, this time a fire type. It was a Ninetales, which was an interesting Pokemon. I heard that if you touched one of Ninetales' nine tails, it would curse you, I wondered if that were true, but I wasn't particularly fond of testing it out. "We're going into the wooded area now, Viola, so we might need you as backup if things go bad," the Ranger informed her Pokemon. Both Shadow and I acknowledged her. "Okay, here we go." She said, leading us in.

It wasn't long before we came across a Pokemon."Slakoth," she commented. "Would you like to try catching this Pokemon?" I looked over to the Slakoth. It wasn't one I was particularly interested in capturing, but I also knew that I wasn't sure what I would come across and Vigoroth might be an interesting add to a certain team I was putting together.

"Yeah, why the hell not." I shrugged. Wasn't going to hurt to try. I just needed to find out a bit more information on this Pokemon first. I took out my Pokedex and hit the green button, sending out a light green that hit the Slakoth.

Slakoth - the Slacker Pokemon. Its only known ability is Traunt. The brown, sloth-like mammalian Pokémon with shaggy coarse fur and brown stripes on its back is an incredibly lazy Pokemon. It has a scruff of fur on the top of its head and a large, pig-like pink nose. Its eyelids, usually visible in a sleepy expression, matching its personality and its underbelly and the paw pads of its back feet are also pink in coloration. Slakoth has long arms with two sharp claws which it uses in its arboreal lifestyle. Slakoth is generally found sleeping and very few ever witness it in motion.

"I guess we're about to be in the select few that witness this Pokemon in motion. It better be worth it." I said as I reached into my pocket. "Let's go Krok, your up.", and with a flick of my wrist, I tossed his Pokeball besides me. A large sunglasses wearing crocodile emerged before us. Krok let out a roar that hopefully would get this battle started.

"Krok, since it isn't moving, you start this battle off." I began, "Start off with a powerful Brick Break attack, get that Slakoth off of that branch and on the ground. Then use Taunt." I wasn't really thinking that Taunt would work on such a lazy Pokemon, but it was worth a shot anyways, I just wanted to get the lazy Pokemon moving. I wasn't sure which was lazier, Slakoth or the Slowpoke family.

Krok charged at Slakoth with his right arm extended out in front of him. The forearm was glowing white, with little sparks coming from that area. Brick Break was a Fighting type move that would hopefully do a decent amount of damage while not knocking it out. I was hoping that due to its lazy nature that it wouldn't be able to block the full force of the attack.

BP#1 @Dinobot;

The Slakoth yawned lazily, turning to get ready to go back to sleep. It ignored Krok as it appeared, seemingly too apathetic to care about the Krookodile's sudden intimidating stare. Leo ordered his Pokemon to go for an attack; the bipedal crocodile's claws gathered bright energy as the Fighting-type moved focused in upon a central point, ready to strike at the Slakoth's weaknesses. It rushed forward with its Brick Break, landing the attack perfectly in a critical hit. The Slakoth was knocked from its branch, landing on the ground in a crumpled heap. It got to its hind feet, rage in its eyes for having been woken up by the brutal hit. It seemed to stagger around with no real purpose, but it was angry enough to retaliate with an attack of its own. The Krookodile, not expecting such an attack, doubled back when the Faint Attack hit, followed quickly by a slash of the Slakoth's claws in a simple but enraged Scratch attack.

The Krookodile took the attacks in stride, not taking too much damage from the smaller Pokemon. Instead, it cackled and grinned at its opponent, beckoning the Slakoth to come at it again with a Taunt. The Slakoth seemed not to care too much about the crocodiles' taunts, however, and simply blinked again in its slow cadence. The sloth was obviously very tired and weakened; it could hardly keep its eyes open, and not just because of its natural laziness.

It was just as I had expected, Slakoth was uneffected by Taunt. That didn't matter too much though since I wasn't particularly using that for any other reason other than to get the battle going. However, it didn't seem that I needed to do that since Slakoth didn't look like it could take much more damage from a Pokemon as strong as Krok. If I were to attack Slakoth again, I would more than likely knock it out and not be able to catch it. That logic never made sense to me, but rules were rules, though as an Elite Ranger, I could probably get that changed.

"Alright Krok, stand down. You've done well my friend!" I called out to my maroon colored reptilian friend. I pulled out a Parkball from my jacket and tossed it at Slakoth. The lazy Pokemon was not going to be able to dodge it, and if it did, well then it had more energy left that I thought.

Zorayda watched as the Trainer threw a Park ball at the Slakoth, hoping to catch his first Pokemon in the run... Krok relaxed, seemingly finished with the battle. The ball arced towards the sloth, red light streaming into the ball... it wiggled with the lazy Slakoth's efforts of trying to get out. It wobbled once, wiggled softly, and then a last, feeble time--Just before the ball held the Pokemon captive, it wrenched itself free from its prison in a last-ditch effort to escape and maintain its wild status. The Krookodile looked just as shocked at his Trainer; that Pokemon should have stayed inside the ball at this rate!

"Ouch," Zor hissed empathetically between her teeth. He had such a good chance at getting that Pokemon in the ball... and yet it was one of those rare times when a Pokemon stubbornly refuses to stay inside. The Park ball seemed to be fine, due to its sturdy nature... all the Trainer needed to do was pick it up and reuse it after trying to get that Slakoth with another ball, since the first one was too close to the sloth to safely get. "Try it again," she suggested to Leo.

"Try it again," she suggested to me. I couldn't believe that it even had enough energy to escape that Parkball. I wondered what the chances of that happening were, obviousl low, but for that to happen to me here was not good luck. I was going to try once more, if that failed then I would have to risk knocking it down a bit more. I threw the Parkball at the Slakoth and waited to see what would happen next. I just hoped I wouldn't have to waste any more time on this Pokemon, I wanted to move on already and see what else this place had in store for us.

The second ball sailed towards the Slakoth, who was worn out even further from escaping the first Park ball against all odds. The red light encased the sloth again, and the ball wobbled feebly--then, with a satisfying 'click', the Slakoth was properly contained and ready to become a new member of Leo's team. Zorayda nodded in satisfaction, and Viola's tongue hung out again in a fox-grin. The Ranger waited for Leo to return Krok to his ball and pick up the first Park ball before moving on with them, deeper into the woods. The scent of pine and leaves calmed them as they hiked along, careful to avoid plants and stickers as well as poisonous vines and such.

So thick was the underbrush that Zor nearly squealed in alarm when an angry ball of purple fuzz appeared from under their feet, upset that they'd invaded its home. Its red, multifaceted eyes focused on them, feelers moving to try to understand what they all were. With a squeak, Zor saw its body begin to drip with a sticky, noxious substance that made its strange fur clump up. The Venonat chittered irritably, ready to attack. It was very aggressive for such a small thing.

"Venonat, the Insect Pokemon... do you want to try to catch it?" The Ranger asked of Leo.

My attempt to try to capture Slakoth was successful. It was about time, I wasn't sure what I did wrong earlier, but it was capture at least. We went deeper into the woods and encountered another interesting Pokemon, Venonat. "Venonat, the Insect Pokemon... do you want to try to catch it?" The Ranger asked of me. I was considering going for it, but I had both Venomoth and Venonat. "Unfortunately, I am going to have to pass on this Pokemon. I have a doll in case this fails."

Zor nodded and began to lead Leo away from the Pokemon, giving it a wary look. His Houndoom waved his tail as he eyed the Venonat. It seemed the bug wasn't finished with them, though; it screeched in protest and began to come after them, its multifaceted eyes beginning to glow in preparation for a Confusion attack. The Ranger gave Leo a helpless look, as if apologizing for the fact that they had to deal with the stubborn little bug. Zor waited for Leo to use a doll, and they ran while the Venonat was distracted with the lifelike imitation of a Pokemon.

They ran until they came upon a clearing, where the air cleared a bit and was fresher. Zorayda glanced behind to make sure Leo and his Pokemon had made it out all right, pausing for them to catch up. Viola had led the way, ears perked and waiting for her mistress. They didn't have long to rest, however; a huge shadow blotted the sun out and the Ranger could hear the flapping of feathered wings somewhere above her. Moving away and holding an arm out for Leo to do the same, they faced the Pokemon. It was a bird, glaring at them ominously. It had a bright red crest upon a narrow head, connected to a slender neck and a huge body with great, big wings. The feathers rustled as it flapped to keep itself aloft. It brandished formidable talons and screeched at the four of them angrily.

"Fearow..." Zor said, her voice trailing off. It was well-known that this Pokemon was naturally ornery. "It's a strong Pokemon; do you want to catch it?" She asked Leo.

Venonat didn't leave left without causing me trouble of course, just like most of the Pokemon here. However, it wasn't anything a Pokedoll couldn't handle. I was glad I brought a bulk amount of them for instances like this. Made things a whole lot easier for times when the Pokemon didn't want to leave me alone. Shortly after encountering Venonat, a Fearow made its presence known.

Fearow..." Zor said, her voice trailing off. It was well-known that this Pokemon was naturally ornery. "It's a strong Pokemon; do you want to catch it?"

"No thanks, I already have one." I said. "Let's get out of here."

Zorayda nodded as Leo mentioned his wanting to leave the bird, having already caught a Fearow in the past. Eyeing it carefully, the Ranger tried to slowly edge away. The bird tilted its head, watching. Zor used her peripheral vision to locate Leo and grabbed his wrist.

"Don't look away from it, and back off slowly. It should leave us alone," she advised. The pair, along with their respective Pokemon, evaded the bird successfully, staring it in the eyes to keep it from mistrusting them and attacking. Wild Pokemon were unpredictable, and Fearow could be one of the worst-tempered ones if you didn't handle it correctly. The bird eventually gave them one last hard look before flying off in search of prey. Zor let out a breath she'd been holding subconsciously, but kept her features calm on the outside. One thing about being a Ranger: one had to act as if nothing was wrong, even if everything was. They continued forward a bit until they came upon a tiny little pond. There were a few logs near the water's edge. Zor took Leo down near it, being careful not to get too close for the sakes of their Fire-type Pokemon. The Houndoom and Ninetales kept looking at the pond apprehensively as it was.

As they neared, a tiny splashing noise could be heard. A tiny little bug was skipping across the water happily, not aware of the humans near it until they came upon the little Pokemon. Its little blue legs made ripples in the pond as it sat there and stared nervously. Zor turned to her Trainer, wondering if he would try to catch the little Surskit.

Fearow, thankfully, decided to leave us alone. I was wasting too many dolls on these Pokemon and I was glad that this one decided to take a hint. Most Pokemon here couldn't do that and always wanted to battle me even though I showed absolutely no interest in battling them. It was actually quite annoying. However, that was why I always bought and brought bulk numbers of Pokedolls, just for incidents like that. Fearow was now out of sight and we once again began moving around the area in search of another Pokemon.

We soon after came across a small pond area. I knew what sort of Pokemon hung around an area like this and I wasn't expecting to see anything useful. However, as we neared, a tiny splashing noise could be heard and a tiny little bug was skipping across the water. It honestly looked sort of ugly. It had a round, blue body that had four long and skinny legs extending from it. It also had a ridiculous looking yellow cap with a single antenna. It was a Surskit. I didn't know too much about this Pokemon. Surskit stared at us with those dark and circular eyes, and those eyes had some sort of pink bags underneath them.

"Surskit huh?" I said. "Let's dex it." With that, I pulled out my Pokedex and pressed the button that sent off a green light towards Surskit.

Surskit - the Pond Skater Pokemon. Surskit are small Pokemon weighting between three and five pounds. They are only about a foot tall and know the abilities Swift Swim and Rain Dish. If Surskit senses danger, it secretes a thick, sugary syrup from the tip of its head. There are some Pokémon that love eating this syrup. Surskit also uses a sweet scent to draw prey. They usually live on bodies of water such as ponds and lakes, but after an evening shower they may appear on puddles in towns. From the tips of its feet, Surskit secretes an oil that enables it to walk on water as if it were skating. This Pokémon feeds on microscopic organisms in ponds and lakes.

"Seems like an easy enough Pokemon to catch. Alright, let's do this Sideways." I said, tossing a Pokeball besides me. A tall, two legged, sharp clawed Pokemon with six hard spikes going down from the back of its neck emerged from the Pokeball. Sideways was a Kabutops, whose body was covered in armor plates. His sleek body made it easier for him to move faster.

"Start this battle off with a bang, use Stone Edge!" I said to Sideways. I knew he wouldn't use full power with this move to prevent Surskit from being knocked out. I just wanted to start this battle off with a powerful and super effective move to make it go by faster. I was going to attempt to capture this Pokemon as fast as possible and move on to try and find new Pokemon.

Surskit, to my knowledge only knew one move that was super effective against Sideways, and that was Giga Drain. If it knew any other moves, I was clueless to it since I didn't really know much about this Pokemon anyways.

Zor listened as Leo's Pokedex related the information on the Surskit aloud, telling them about its many odd qualities. Zorayda had already known about the sap that sometimes came from its head; though it sort of weirded her out that it could do such a thing. The Trainer seemed to think to himself and then make a quick decision, choosing a Poke ball on his belt that best suited this battle. Viola sat on her haunches and watched the battle unfold from a little ways away.

Leo threw out his Kabutops, Sideways, in hopes of catching the little bug that stared at them with wary curiosity. Sideways' natural armored clacked as he shifted to size up his opponent, as tiny as it was. It seemed to have a way with watching its surroundings. Sideways screeched as it readied its attack, his forelegs gleaming with power. He slashed at the water-strider with the force of stone; she immediately screeched and skittered across the water's surface and evaded the brunt of the attack. Still, it seemed a bit tired as it turned and forced a Bubble attack from its little mouth right at the Kabutops. Sideways was a little surprised by the counter-attack and took the brunt of the bubbles to the face, though it only served to annoy rather than really attack too hard. Surskit was on her guard, now, ready to move when the Kabutops attacked next.

"Alright Sideways! Well done. We are almost at the capturing point. Maybe just one or two more attacks should put us there." Sideways nodded, but didn't take his eyes off of Surskit. He knew looking away from your opponent for even a second was bad news. He just brought his scythes up and slashed them together, creating small sparks. He was ready for the next move.

"Okay, use Hone Claws, then Aerial Ace." I said. "That should do enough damage to let me capture it." I just hoped I was right and wasn't making the same mistake as I did when I was battling Slakoth. Then I would have to waste even more time doing another move, something I wanted to avoid. Honestly, I didn't even really want Surskit, but my brothers and I did in fact need it for our Pokedex which was almost complete.

Sideways once again began clawing his scythes together. Only this time, they grew larger and were glowing white. This usually meant it was working, but it was hard to tell until he was done. After he did that, he would take off and slam into Surskit hard with an Aerial Ace attack. Surskit being Bug type meant it was weak to Flying, so this boosted attack should do the trick.

I reached into my bag and brought out another Parkball that I was ready to chuck once Aerial Ace made contact.

Sideways gave the Surskit a glower before raking its claws slowly against each other, sharpening them with wicked intent. It seemed to focus on its prey with an almost creepy stare, like a wild animal stalking its prey. Though, this shouldn't have been surprising; Kabutops was a natural hunter that slashed its victims open to feed upon the fluids of the dead. Zor shuddered; she wasn't sure she could ever own a Kabutops for that single reason. It was certainly a scary Pokemon. With a cry it surged forward, launching an all-out attack; Surskit seemed to crouch a bit lower in preparation for the attack's landing, but never expecting the Kabutops to leap up high into the air. Narrowing its eyes suspiciously, the Surskit shook its little body all over and seemed to relax by using Agility, then waiting for the precise moment to strike. It faced Sideways just as he sailed down with his attack and let loose a stream of bubbles; stronger this time. The Kabutops roared with pain-induced anger as it landed its blow, making the Surskit flinch and screech.

Leo threw the ball even before the little 'mon had time to recover from the blow, and Kabutops landed in the pond with a mighty 'splash'; the ball sailed through the air and whacked the poor bug before opening up and streaming it into its inside, snapping shut and floating on the water with a 'plop'. The waves from Kabutops' landing made the ball bob precariously through the water, but the ball made its resounding 'click' and Surskit was trapped within. Leo had gotten himself a new Pokemon.

"Ah, excellent job," Zor commented as Kabutops steadied himself and retrieved Surskit's ball. Zor took it and clipped it to her belt for Leo to claim after the Park run. Viola seemed to think it was safe to approach without all the water splashing around in the battle, so she rejoined he mistress's side and allowed the Ranger to scratch behind an ear.

"Ready to move on, then? Zor asked her Trainer with a smile.

"Ah, excellent job," Zor commented as she retrieved Surskit's ball. I nodded.

"Well done, Sideways. You always impress." I said. "You can stay out if you want or you can take a rest." Sideways nodded and moved next to me, he wanted to stay out. Wasn't a surprise, he usually liked to stay out like Shadow.

"Ready to move on, then? Zor asked me.

"Yeah, hopefully we encounter more basics that are more rare, as that is what I am here for."
