Makina waited by the gate entrance to the Great Lakes, trying to stifle a yawn and giving a lazy stretch while she waited on her Trainer to arrive. It was early, far too early for her tastes, and the sun had risen only a few short hours ago. She looked over her documents once more, double checking everything. The Trainer's name was Leonardo LeRoy, but apparently preferred to be called Leo... the name seemed familiar to Makina, as if she had heard that name somewhere before, but shook it off. The list of Pokemon seemed to be in order as well; it was quite odd to bring along a Houndoom to the Lakes, but apparently Leo had mad multiple runs here before according to a footnote, as if it had been written as an afterthought. She was also curious to see that he had a Zoroark; the creatures were not often seen, and it would be interesting to see one in action.

<Perhaps he left early? You did head out late, after all,> a mental voice admonished. The speaker was Aria, Makina's Gardevoir, who was, unlike her trainer, waiting patiently. The two had been friends ever since Makina's first Park Run, but still butted heads over some subjects.

“They didn't even tell me I was assigned to this run until about an hour ago,” Makina muttered back, but said no more. She had been bored stiff just passing along messages from Outpost to Outpost, so had jumped at the opportunity to lead her own Park Run. Today would be a good day, she was certain of it... for now, all she had to do was wait.

"Well Shadow, our last run at the lakes was far from sucessful. I'm sorry to say that we have to go back. I know you don't like going there, but we need to capture a few teammates from there. We didn't even capture one last time." Shadow just groaned and moved his paws over his head.

"You know, even if we had captured three Pokemon at the lakes that time, we still would have to go back though. I would definitely like a Phoine or Frillish. I just hope we find something interesting at least. Let's head out now.

-They walk to the lakes, blah blah blah... now they arrive-

"Okay, we're here!" I cried out happily. Sounding a little more excited that intended. Shadow on the other hand was no where near excited. He just walked quietly behind me. He let out a friendly bark to let me know our Ranger was here. "Hey, I'm Leo." I called out to her... "and this is Shadow, my Houndoom." With that, I pulled out my Pokeplayer and popped in my Frillish Voice Disk and pressed play.

Aria looked forward, sensing that someone was approaching. <Think that's your Trainer coming now. Whoever it is, they have a Pokemon following them.> the Gardevoir wavered as she finished. <I can't sense it that well, probably a Dark-type.>

“That sounds like our guy. Apparently he's bringing two Dark-types along,” Makina noted, then directed her gaze forward, seeing two figures rapidly approach. Sure enough, she noticed a Houndoom closely tailing the male Trainer walking along the path, clearly not happy to re-enter a place that was full of lakes and ponds.

“Okay, we're here!” the Trainer called out. “I'm Leo, and this is Shadow, my Houndoom,” Leo said, pointing to the Pokemon behind him.

“Nice to meet you both,” Makina replied, giving a nod to Shadow while holding out her hand to Leo. “I'm Makina, and will be leading you around the Lakes today.” Seeing that Leo was rummaging through his bag for something, Makina just shrugged and commenced to open the front gate instead. “Let's get started then, shall we?”

As Makina led Leo through the gate she noticed that her Trainer had pulled out a Pokeplayer, and was proceeding to play one of the Disks stored within. The would explain why he had entered the Lakes so soon after leaving- he wanted a specific Pokemon rather than search about and see what came up. The player's audio rang clearly in the morning air, but nothing appeared to come running. With that I led Leo further in, leading him down one of the drier roads, a wide strip of path that lay between two lakes. The walk would take longer, but Makina figured that Shadow would prefer to stay as far away from the water as possible.

They didn't have far to travel. Not even a few minutes in, one of the bushes to the right of the group, most of it's leaves missing, began to move. Makina looked over, and saw a small brown Pokemon observing them. If it was trying to stay hidden, it was doing a terrible job; half of it's furry body was sticking out of the bush, and its buckteeth appeared to be gnawing on something.

“It's not much, but we did just enter after all. Want to try catching a Bidoof?” Makina asked Leo.

“It's not much, but we did just enter after all. Want to try catching a Bidoof?” Makina asked me. I just sighed. This was the second time in a row that my run started with the useless Pokemon, Bidoof. I was a bit disappointed, but like my Ranger said, the run just started, so I tried not to let that get me down. Instead, I'd keep my eyes peeled for anything more interesting.

"No," I replied, "not interested in this thing." With that, I tossed a doll over to Bidoof and let my voice disk keep playing. I wanted to at least find Frillish, or something useful. There was a lot that I wanted from here, but I wanted it in basic form or else I wouldn't capture it. I liked to train it myself in its basic form before it evolved. "shall we move on?" I asked my Ranger.

"No," Leo replied with a sigh, "not interested in this thing." He pulled a Pokedoll from his pack and casually tossed it over to the Bidoof who, in turn, simply stared at it instead. "Shall we move on?"*

Makina nodded, and led Leo further down the path. She couldn't blame him for wanting to leave the Bidoof alone; the creatures were ultra common, and not often caught unless the Trainer was just starting out.

As they proceeded along, the path eventually came to a fork. The western road's landstrip was more narrow, but seemed to lead to the deeper lakes. As for the eastern path, there was plenty of room to move about, but the water level appeared to be much lower.

Before Makina could ask Leo which way he wished to take, an object suddenly dropped from the sky. As she bent down to take a closer look, a small white Pokemon with blue markings descended down and headed towards the object, which turned out to be a Berry of unknown origin. It gave a startled squawk as it saw Leo and hovered in place, as if studying him.

“Looks like it's pretty interested in you. Want to try going after a Wingull?” Makina asked Leo.

“Looks like it's pretty interested in you. Want to try going after a Wingull?” Makina asked me.

"Yeah, still going to pass on that. Not interested in that either. Let's try to get away from it without it following us. If not, I'll throw a Pokedoll at it as well." It was then that I noticed the fork in the road. "Can we hit up the Western path?" I asked. As I waited for an answer, I once again pressed play, and the sound of a Frillish could be heard. I hoped I found one soon, or at least something worthwhile. I felt as if fate was rolling me the wrong numbers.

"Yeah, still going to pass on that. Not interested in that either. Let's try to get away from it without it following us. If not, I'll throw a Pokedoll at it as well." Leo replied.

Makina nodded and backed slowly away from the Berry and Wingull. It appeared as if they were in the clear; the bird Pokemon simply swooped down on it's food and swallowed the Berry in a single gulp. Before they could walk away, however, the Wingull chirped in alarm and darted in front of them, as if it's tiny, airborne form could block their way. Makina nodded to Leo, and a Pokedoll was thrown into the air. The Wingull swooped upon the prize, let out what sounded like a cry of thanks, and flew off with it's prize.

"Can we hit up the Western path?" Leo asked. His Pokeplayer, still letting off a creature's cry, was still going strong.

“Sure thing. Shadow might want to watch his step, though. Some of these lakes go pretty far down,” Makina warned. Seeing that the walkway was going to get more narrow, she returned Aria.

The two continued on, the path winding ahead and heading further into the deeper parts of the Park. There was enough room on the path for two humans to walk side-by-side, but no more. The sun was rising further in the sky, not yet high enough to cause blinding glares on the water, but enough that more wild Pokemon were beginning to stir.

After seeing not a single movement along the path, Makina was beginning to wonder if something was wrong. There were movements of Pokemon frolicking far in the distance, but nowhere close to where the path was heading. Finally, as if sensing their unease, a large ripple appeared to Leo's right. It surfaced, turning out to be a large spherical Pokemon; it was glaring right at Shadow, as if it was an eyesore.

“Guess the wildlife doesn't care much for Shadow. Want to try battling it, or would you prefer to escape?” Makina asked Leo, eyeing the Wailmer while idly reaching for Mila, her Milotic's Pokeball. Wailmer had some pretty strong Water-type moves, which could easily push the Houndoom off the path and into the lake.

“Guess the wildlife doesn't care much for Shadow. Want to try battling it, or would you prefer to escape?” Makina asked me. I thought about it, but I wasn't particularly interested on capturing one. Especially since I already had Wailord. I looked at Wailmer and shook my head.

"Once again, I'll pass. I already have a Wailord, which by the way, I brought with me. So yeah, don't need a Wailmer. Where to now?" I asked, pressing play again on my pokeplayer so that the Frillish sound could be heard all around us. I looked over at Shadow, who was now looking a little nervous.

"If you want to head back, let me know." I said to him telepathicly, something I could do because of Mindbender. I knew he wouldn't tell me, because he would go where ever I would go no matter what, so I was going to have to pay attention to him so that I could read him and know when he wanted to head back. Shadow gave a slight nod and signaled that he wanted to keep going, like I had predicted.

"Once again, I'll pass. I already have a Wailord, which by the way, I brought with me. So yeah, don't need a Wailmer,” Leo responded to Makina, activating his Pokeplayer once more. “Where to now?"

“For now, we try to go past this guy,” Makina said, pointing a thumb over at the waiting Wailmer. She took a step further along the path, motioning a warning to Leo to be careful in case the Pokemon decided to attack Shadow. The Houndoom appeared to be a little wary of the Wailmer, and was silently staring at his Trainer.

The Wailmer didn't seem too keen on letting Shadow just walk away, however. As soon as the Pokemon began to walk away, the Ball Whale Pokemon began to puff up and move forward as well, trying to move ahead of the group. Suddenly, another Pokedoll was tossed forward, landing on top of the Wailmer's head. The mollified Pokemon blinked and stood perfectly still, not willing to let it's prize become wet.

The group continued further ahead, the path becoming wider as they progressed forward. After close to a half-hour of walking, the path branched once more, this time meeting together in a full circle about fifty feet away. A shallow pond lay between the two, dotted with a bush or two but seemed pretty empty save for a sudden splash.

Makina walked forward to investigate, motioning for Leo to follow, and noticed an orange figure weakly splashing about. The fishlike creature had plenty of room to move about, but seemed obsessed with finding a way to leave the pond.

“I don't think that Magikarp realizes that if he does manage to get out of there, the lake is still a good few feet away,” Makina mused to herself, then turned to Leo. “You could try to battle it if you want. Magikarp rarely try to leave their home unless they are close to evolution.”

I was down to my last use of the Frillish Voice Disk, I should have brought two, but I didn't think I would need them both. I was a bit disappointed in myself for not doing so though. I still had my Alomoloa Voice Disk, but I wasn't really interested in one. There was still a whole lot of stuff that I wanted to get before I left here, I didn't think that would be happening though. I just hoped I was lucky enough to see a Phione, I'd want to capture that.

"Gyarados are quite useful, but I already have one.” Leo stated, “They are extremely powerful Pokemon, which take a long time to raise, but so worth it when they finally evolve. I'll pass on this one though since I have one." He reached down and picked up the Pokemon, apparently intending to help it transfer over to the nearby lake. As the fish dropped down into the lake, Leo went to turn around... only to have the Magikarp attempt to jump out of the water once more, trying to follow the Trainer. In an attempt to help the fish adjust to it's new home, Leo dropped another Pokedoll down, this time by the lake's edge. Almost instantly the fish stopped flailing about, and was transfixed on the plush toy.

Makina watched the entire display, shaking her head. “Sometimes I wonder if the Park shop stuffs those dolls with some type of catnip.” She had to respect Leo for his actions though; most Trainers would simply walk past, leaving the Magikarp to it's devices. Instead not only did he help the Pokemon out, but left it a friend as well. She pointed ahead, indicating that they should move on, and the group went down the circling path. As they continued on, the cry chirping from Leo's Player died without warning; the disk must have run out of power.

As they reached the halfway point, Makina spotted a figure kneeling near the edge of the path, staring at the lake water below. It seemed to be hunting for it's morning meal; every now and then the blue creature would snap at the lake with it's impressive jaws, as if trying to catch something.

“We could probably pass by this Totodile if we're quiet,” Makina whispered to Leo. “Want to keep going, or add it to your team?”

"No, don't need one on my team. Let's try going away quietly." Leo whispered back to Makina. “I guess I'll waste another doll if I can't get past this guy. Otherwise, let's go.”

The two managed to sneak by unnoticed; Totodile seemed completely absorbed in it's hunting, and did not seem to notice them nearby. The Water-type seemed to twitch a moment as Shadow passed by, but a nearby Goldeen managed to swim by just in time to grab it's attention away. It jumped into the water, chasing after the unfortunate Pokemon. Seeing that the Totodile was out of the way, Makina led her Trainer further down the road.

The circle led down to a single path, then stopped as the sandy walkway was replaced by a stone bridge, this system leading to some of the deepest lakes in the Park. While the water was too deep to see the bottom, Makina knew that the bridge was supported underneath by stone pillars, situated in key areas underneath the path. These bridges connected to a few dry areas of land dotted across the large body of water, but a few stretched off into nothingness, as if the original builder intended them to be docks or had simply halted construction.

Before they could step onto the bridge, a sudden loud screech resounded from behind them. Makina held up a hand, warning Leo to stay still, and slowly turned around. At first, the Ranger saw nothing but the small pond they had passed. Before she could turn back around, one of the bushes began to rustle, letting off small sparks of electricity. These sparks began to approach them appearing to move on their own, but a second glance proved otherwise; the source was a miniscule eel-like creature, and it was heading towards Leo.

“Tynamo, directly behind us,” Makina muttered to her Trainer. “It doesn't seem to like you, either. Want to go for it, or try to lose it?”

We had now come pretty far into the Lakes area. I wasn’t sure what to expect here since I hadn’t been this far before. I wasn’t sure if to expect rarer Pokemon, or the same old useless non-rare Pokemon that I’ve been finding. I had a feeling I wasn’t going to find anything good, but I was at least going to keep looking. My luck couldn’t be that bad that I found all these Pokemon that I didn’t want twice in a row in two different expeditions. Usually, I didn’t let stuff like this bother me, but it was just very disappointing. Especially since I wanted over fifteen different kinds of Pokemon from this area. I’ve been to areas where I’ve only wanted one Pokemon from that area and got it pretty easily. I wasn’t having that sort of luck at the Lakes. I wondered how many times I would have to come here for that to change. That was the problem with going to a place where so many Pokemon lived. It was hard to find exactly what you were looking for. This is when things that you want later, but not right now, pop up, which was a bit annoying.

I wasn’t too angry when my Frillish Voice Disk didn’t work. I figured that I’d still have a decent amount of Pokemon to capture, but no. Just stuff like Magikarp and Bidoof, useless stuff that I don’t want. I shook all that off and tried to think positive. I looked around us and saw a bridge up ahead. I was about to head over towards it, but before I could even move, a loud screech came from behind us. Makina held out a hand warning me to stay still. We slowly turned around and saw the small pond we had passed. I saw small ripples in the light blue water, which meant something was nearby. I kept my eyes peeled.

One of the bushes began to rustle, letting off small sparks of electricity. These sparks began to approach them appearing to move on their own, but a second glance proved otherwise; the source was a miniscule eel-like creature, and it was heading towards me. The red cross on its mouth opened and showed its sharp teeth. Its oval-shaped eyes glared at me. The yellow stripe faded and lit up every three seconds as it floated towards me.

“Tynamo, directly behind us,” Makina muttered to me. “It doesn't seem to like you, either. Want to go for it, or try to lose it?”

“Hmm, I’m not sure anything else good will come my way, and although I already had an Eelektross, I was going to attempt to try and capture this one. I pulled out my Pokedex and did a quick scan of the Pokemon. A sea green light shot out and hit the Tynamo.

Tynamo – the Elefish Pokémon. Tynamo are incredibly small Pokémon. They don’t even weigh ten pounds. While one alone doesn't have much power, a chain of many Tynamo can be as powerful as lightning. These Pokémon move in schools. They have an electricity-generating organ, so they discharge electricity if in danger. These Pokémon have the ability Levitate, making them immune to Ground type moves. Because they are immune to Ground type moves, and because Electric types don’t have any other weakness other than Ground, they have no weakness.

“Hmm, that is very interesting.” I said. “What do you think Shadow?”

“Well, he isn’t a Water type, so I can take him without a problem.” Shadow replied. “You are using me right?”

“No,” A voice said from behind us. I turned around and saw nothing there, but I knew Mirage was there. “He is using me.”

“Who invited you?” Shadow joked.

“I did, I wanted him to meet up with us here.” I said. As I did, Mirage let himself be seen to everyone else. I loved his Illusion ability. It came in handy many times, especially in playing pranks on people. The black bipedal fox-like Pokémon with a large black mane stepped towards Tynamo and did the ‘bring it on’ signal.

“Well, alright, you can battle.” I shrugged.

“WHAT! I wanted to battle. Ugh, fine.” Shadow grumbled.

“Sorry buddy. I know I said you could, but I want to try Mirage out. We have a technique we want to try out here.” I said. Shadow nodded understandingly, but I could tell he was a bit sad. “Okay Mirage, start off with Flamethrower and cover it up with Dark Pulse. We’ll try the technique as soon as we see his fighting style.

Mirage nodded and formed multiple dark rings around his body. He raised his arms and the rings mashed together to form a large ball of dark energy. Then he took a deep breath and blew out a stream of hot, orange flames. The orange color was quickly engulfed in darkness though and went inside the black orb. Then, with a single movement, Mirage launched the orb of dark energy towards Tynamo. I could feel the heat coming from the inside of the sphere, it was pretty hot.

“Alright buddy, that looks good.” I called out as the attacked headed towards Tynamo. There wasn’t anything to do now but wait and see what would happen. If all went well then the next part of my plan would be put into action.

Leo stared at the Tynamo a moment, as if judging whether or not the Wild Pokemon was worth capturing. He had pulled out a Pokedex, and was now looking up information on the Electric-type. Eventually, he closed the 'Dex and looked towards his Houndoom. “Hmm, that is very interesting. What do you think, Shadow?”

Makina stayed silent, patiently watching the scene unfold. She couldn't blame Leo for taking his time deciding on what to do, they had not exactly run into any exceptionally powerful creatures yet, and Tynamo, while rare, were not exactly awa-inspiring; most Pokemon easily towered over them. Their evolutions, on the other hand, were both versatile and could learn a decent array of moves. It was a matter of patience over priority. Currently, it appeared as if Shadow and his Trainer were discussing something. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a dark-furred Pokemon materialized between the two.

Makina couldn't help but jump at the sudden entrance. “Where in the world-” Black fur, red mane, walks on two feet... “I'm assuming that is your Zoroark. Haven't seen one of them in person before.” Judging from the grin from both Trainer and Pokemon, she was guessing that they had planned this little trick well in advance. The Zoroark walked forward and motioned his claws torward the waiting Tynamo, with Shadow watching from the sidelines.

“Sorry buddy. I know I said you could, but I want to try Mirage out. We have a technique we want to try out here.” Leo said to Shadow. “Okay Mirage, start off with Flamethrower and cover it up with Dark Pulse. We’ll try the technique as soon as we see his fighting style.”

Zoroark – Mirage, Makina mentally reminded herself, instantly began to form dark waves of energy around his body, concentrating on compressing them into a perfect sphere. Before the sphere could fully close, the fox Pokemon blew a steady stream into the orb, enclosing the flames within. With a swipe of his claw, Mirage lobbed the ball of energy at the Tynamo.

Tynamo, in a vain attempt to bounce back the attack, released a large beam of energy from it's mouth. While the creature was tiny, it's attack was easily much larger than the eel's body. The orb, while slowed down slightly, kept going on it's trajectory. As the Pulse/Flamethrower ball hit the Tynamo, the beam of lightning managed to strike Mirage as well. The Zoroark let out a grunt as the beam hit him, but seemed relatively unfazed.

Tynamo, on the other hand, was sent flying. In retaliation, it began to glow a brilliant yellow, and began to shoot off static waves of electricity haphazardly. A few of them landed mere inches away from Mirage.

Tynamo’s attack didn’t seem to do much, which I wasn’t expecting. I thought this little guy was stronger than he looked. They say not to judge a book by its cover, but I wasn’t totally sure they meant in this way. I overestimated instead of underestimated. In that case, that wasn’t going to take long at all. Judging by the way Tynamo looked; I would say it was almost at three quarters health. Not much more to go.

Tynamo’s Charge Beam appeared to have powered it up a bit, but not by much. Mirage was pretty much unfazed by the attack. I noticed that now, Tynamo was shooting out a bluish white static from its body. I knew right then and there that that was Thunder Wave. I had used that move so many times that I knew it by heart when I saw it. This would be a problem if it actually went through.

“Alright Mirage, use Taunt. Then follow it up with Swords Dance and then Calm Mind if you want, though unnecessary. I don’t even think we need to use that technique here. It would be too much for this little guy to handle, which is what I thought at least. At this point, I wasn’t planning on using that move at all. Instead, I would just power up right now even though it wasn’t at all needed.

“Shadow, you’re not mad at me now, are you?” I asked. I knew I had promised him a chance to battle first, and I hadn’t gone through with what I said. I usually didn’t do this, but I expected Tynamo to be a much more interesting battle. Though, I wouldn’t complain, all I really wanted to do was capture it, no matter how easy it was.

“No, I guess I can just battle whatever else is next. It would just be easier to battle this Tynamo since it isn’t a Water type, nor does it know Water type moves.” He shrugged.

“Yeah, but don’t you want a challenge?” I asked him.

“No, not really, I just want to battle.” He said. I just laughed at his response. I guess he needed a way to make him forget where he was. I should have thought about that before. I usually let him battle whenever he wanted, but this time, I wanted Mirage to battle.

“Well, I’m sorry. I won’t do that again then. Next time I say you will battle, you will battle.” I said to him.

“It’s not a big deal. I’ll just battle next then or whatever, depending what Pokémon it is and if I feel like it or not.” He grinned.

“Haha, alright then. Let’s finish this up then.” I said, turning back to the battle field.

I saw Mirage begin to make faces at Tynamo, trying to anger it before it could use Thunder Wave. If Mirange managed to do that then he would prevent Tynamo from using Thunder Wave, or any non attacking move for that matter. It would be extremely useful. Once he was done jeering at Tynamo, he would begin his Swords Dance. When he used that technique, his arms would glow a dark purple color and his claws would extend out and become really sharp.

That would give him a significant boost in his physical attack and make him stronger than he already was. Then he would proceed into using Calm Mind. The move was just how it sounds. He would basically calm his mind which made him focus better in battle. A small lightest purple pink glow would surround his head. Then he would be focused and ready to go for my next commands. Assuming all this worked. If not then I would be screwed and Mirage would be stuck with that status condition throughout this battle, which isn’t something I wanted. Though, it was something I could deal with if it happened. Mirage was strong enough that even if he was paralyzed, he could still beat Tynamo. I would have to make sure though that he doesn’t knock the little guy out, because that isn’t what I wanted.

“Mirage, keep in mind that I’m trying to capture this Pokémon, so don’t knock it out when you do attack alright.” I said to him. Mirage gave a slight nod. He wasn’t even going to use his illusions in this battle. Usually, it was fun using his illusions against our opponents. Most of the times they were frustrated and angry by them, which was good for us since they wouldn’t be fully focused on the battle at hand. I moved back and watched the battle continue.

As Tynamo was attempting to re-orient itself in the air, both Trainer and Pokemon appeared to be stunned by how easily the small eel-like creature was thrown back. For a Pokemon with no natural weaknesses, it didn't appear to be very strong.

Makina only gave a knowing smile to the entire display. One of her friends, currently taking the Gym Challenge in Unova, had caught a Tynamo of their own a few months ago. In his letter, he had written about how he had hunted the Electric-type for over a day, yet was disappointed to see that once he had caught it, it only knew a few paltry moves. In addition, it was constantly defeated in battles; it had taken well over a month for the Tynamo to become more useful, and that was because it had finally evolved into the more-versatile Eelektrik. In other words, Tynamo was the Magikarp of the Electric family.

“Alright Mirage, use Taunt. Then follow it up with Swords Dance and then Calm Mind if you want, though unnecessary,” Leo commanded to his Zoroark. It looked like Leo was taking the safe route, just in case the Tynamo had a few tricks in store.

Tynamo had finally aligned itself once more, floating a few feet away from Mirage, and began to glow blue once more; it obviously intended to try another Thunder Wave while Mirage was within it's sight. Before it could finish the attack, however, Mirage began to yell obscenities at his opponent, even throwing a middle finger into the mix. The Taunt worked beautifully; the glow faded as the Tynamo began to seethe in anger.

His taunt completed, Mirage began to sway oddly in place, moving his front claws around in a pre-ordained pattern. These claws began to give off an azure glow, and began to gleam with sharpness.

Tynamo, now seeing red, had other plans. It began to glow once more, this time with a shimmering yellow light, and charged straight at the Zoroark. As the two connected, there was a crackling sound in the air, and Mirage staggered backwards a couple of steps. Still, Mirage attempted to complete his command, closing his eyes a moment and clearing his mind to increase his focus. Tynamo took this moment of opportunity to loose another attack, and began to glow blue once more. As Mirage opened his eyes, the Electric-type let loose another Charge Beam, this time at point-blank range. While the Calm Mind managed to lessen some of the damage, the Zoroark still grunted in pain.

"Well, that went well." I said to Mirage. He took a little damage, but he was still ready to attack.

“Yeah, wasn’t too bad. Barely felt that.” Mirage said, as if he were still taunting Tynamo. Mirage brushed off his shoulder stared down Tynamo. He wasn’t letting down yet.

Like I had thought earlier, I didn’t even need to use my technique Mirage and I had been practicing. I knew though, that this little guy still had some fight left in him. I could tell that he wasn’t ready to give up. When Mirage was powering up, he went in for the attack. A cheap shot, but well planned nonetheless. It was probably the only free shot he was getting, unless we became careless.

All I wanted to do now was get in one strong attack and see how much that did. Mirage had used Swords Dance, which brought up his physical attack twofold, and Calm Mind with brought up both his special attack and special defense by one stage. Whichever move he used, physical or special, it would be powered up and pretty strong.

“Let’s go with Night Slash.” I called out to Mirage. The illusionist just grinned, but didn’t take his eyes off the prize. I knew he was determined to help me capture this Pokémon. Mirage, like Shadow, was always determined to do what was needed without question. It was one of the things I liked about him.

Mirage stepped forward, both of his claws began glowing a crimson color and he lunged out to slash Tynamo with them both. I didn’t think the attack would knock out the small Electric Eel Pokémon, but I did hope that it did a decent amount of damage so that I could try capturing it next. If not, I could just as easily do another, less powerful move to get more damage in.

Being powered up with Swords Dance, and the fact that Night Slash was a Dark type move, the same as Mirage, and the fact that it was one of his strongest moves didn’t make me worry much. I knew he wouldn’t knock it out, but I wasn’t sure how much damage it would do. I trusted him though to do the right amount. Or at least the amount he felt was necessary for me to capture Tynamo. All I could do now was sit back and watch this next part play out.

"Well, that went well." Leo said to his Zoroark. He seemed pleased that Mirage had managed to successfully pull off a Calm Mind despite being attacked during the meditation. In response, Mirage simply brushed off the attack, as if to tell the Tynamo that it was not making much progress.

“True, most Pokemon would break their concentration upon being attacked,” Makina admitted. “This Tynamo seems quite young, however. Most of them are found deeper in the Park.”

“Let’s go with Night Slash.” Leo commanded to Mirage. The Illusion Fox Pokemon gave a wide grin at this, and began to charge up his move. Soon the glow around Mirage's claws changed from a shimmering blue to a dark violet hue.

Makina raised an eyebrow at this new order. Night Slash was one of the more damaging Dark-type moves out there, and Mirage had already increased his damage substantially. Either Leo was simply trying to clear the Tynamo from his path, or he had faith that his teammate would not faint the tiny creature.

Tynamo, seeing that his opponent was getting ready to attack once more, sprung into action. It managed to barely dodge the first claw swipe by moving to the side, but the second, under-strike swipe, sending the Electric-type skyward. While in the air, the creature's body began to spark with yellow electricity once more. As it began it's downward descent, The Tynamo used this momentum to dive-bomb Mirage, crashing down on the Zoroark's head. The built-up static caused Mirage's fur to stand on end, along with a possible headache for both creatures.

“Talk about using your head,” Makina remarked, trying to not crack a smile at the amusing display. “Looks like that Tynamo is starting to get crafty.”

“Talk about using your head,” Makina said. “Looks like that Tynamo is starting to get crafty.” I nodded in agreement. I was going to have to watch out for that. Or at least I would if Tynamo wasn’t already weakened like it was now. All I had to do now was put in a bit more damage and I would be good in capturing it. I would say that perhaps an Aerial Ace would do the trick in helping me capture Tynamo.

Judging by the way Tynamo looked now; I would say it was at least below fifty percent of its maximum health. That was good for me. A little more and it would be prime for my Hyperball. Of course I would need to calm it down a bit, especially since I had taunted it not too long ago.

Aerial Ace was a precision move that pretty much always hit. I needed that and something that was a physical move so that it would be powered up with Swords Dance. That would damage Tynamo just enough for me to capture. Flying was weak to Electric, so I didn’t expect it to do much, but that was what I was looking for.

“Alright Mirage, let’s give him one last blow before we attempt to capture him. Use Aerial Ace.” I called out to the black furry fox. As I did, I reached into my bag and pulled out a round black and red sphere. I pressed the center of the ball and it enlarged. I also took out a small vile labeled Calming Fragrance Plus. That should calm it down enough for me to capture.

Mirage took off into a white blinding light. His body was engulfed in a white glow as he quickly sped towards Tynamo. I opened the small vile and released what was contained inside. Then, I tried to time it perfectly and aimed my Hyperball at Tynamo. When the time seemed right, I would launch the ball at the Elefish Pokémon.
