“Let's see what else is ahead. If it wants to fight, I still have a Pokedoll left,” Akinai said. Couldn't blame her for not wanting a Timburr. If I remembered correctly, my friend Eric told her, as well as me, that she put a Conkeldurr to once breed with a Makuhita. He walked away, and five seconds later an egg appeared. If that isn't freaky then nothing is. Catching a Timburr, and training it into a Conkeldurr, well that was some major nightmare fuel there. I was personally happy that she was passing on it, because the thought of Conkeldurr was making me start to feel sick.

"Okay then, let's get around this thing quickly, looking at it is making me sick," I said, as I tried to lead us around it, but unfortunately it wasn't that easy. It let out a bit of a yell, and started kicking snow at us. Some of it got into my eye. It was a vicious, or just annoying little thing.

"Oh you son of a..." I said as I reached into my backpack, to pull something out before Gardevoir stopped me.

Wait, is this Timburr really worth going to jail over?

Going to jail over. What do you take me for, a killer? I was just going to throw a donut at it.

Do you really want to waste a donut on this thing, when Akinai said to use her Pokedoll? Gardevoir asked.

Good point, but I'm throwing the doll.

"All right, hand me your Pokedoll," I said to Akinai who did so. I took it and threw it at Timburr. It was a standard Clefairy doll like most of them, but I knew it would have loved a Makuhita doll. As it was walking away with the doll in hand, I rolled up a pretty decent sized snowball, and threw it at the back of Timburr's head, knocking it down as revenge for what it did.

"Take that you freak. Okay Akinai, let's keep going, and see what you run into next, shall we?" With that we were off. I decided it was best for us to stay outside of the mountain for the time being. Akinai didn't seem to have much interest in Fighting-types, or at least the ones she has run into. With that thought in mind I figured we could keep trying to look for some Ice-types. It was too long before one came out from behind a patch of snow. It seemed to be a little shy. This was a very small, black Pokemon. It's body was the shape of an egg with round fingerless hands, and toeless feet. It covered its body with a yellowish-orange cone shaped cloak. The backside of this cloak had three spots on it. This Pokemon was kind of like Gallade really. While both male and female Kirlia could become Gardevoir, only male Kirlia could become Gallade. This Pokemon as both male and female can become something, but its better evolved form can only happen as a female.

Surprisingly, Gary appeared quite relieved to see Akinai wishing to pass the Timburr rather then battle it. "Okay then, let's get around this thing quickly, looking at it is making me sick," he said, trying his best to not look at the Pokemon while attempting to pass around the creature.

Sadly though, either Timburr had overheard the Ranger's remark, or was just ill-tempered in general, but it refused to budge. In fact, it even let out a battle-cry and began kicking some nearby snow straight at Gary's face. Considering that there was still a Gardevoir out on the field and it was her trainer that the Fighting type was assaulting, it was definitely clear that this one had no common sense.

"Oh you son of a..." Gary began, reaching into his pack for an unseen object. Before he could pull out whatever he was trying to obtain, he paused as if changing his mind. Instead, he held out a hand towards Akinai. "All right, hand me your Pokedoll," the Ranger said.

Akinai gladly obliged, though was trying her best not to laugh at the Ranger's predicament. It looked like even Rangers had their bad days, or maybe just bad luck. She handed over her last Pokedoll, this one in the typical Clefairy shape. She never understood why most of the plushies were shaped like that Pokemon; after all, there were plenty other ones out there that were considered “cute”, like Piplup or Charmander. Either way, to each their own and it had been the last one in stock at the store, likely to it's old design.

As soon as he grabbed hold of the object, Gary lobbed the doll over to the Timburr, who grabbed it in midair then turned around, ready to enter the cave once more. As the Pokemon retreated, however, a snowball was thrown right at it's head, knocking the creature flat on it's face.

"Take that you freak,” Gary said, dusting off the remaining snow off of his hands, “Okay Akinai, let's keep going, and see what you run into next, shall we?"

“Are you sure you want to annoy it some more?” Akinai asked, nodding over to the still face-planted Timburr. Still, she couldn't help giving a wide grin at seeing such an absurd sight. Now she had to hope that they didn't run into a very angry Conkeldurr later in the run, looking for vengeance for it's younger sibling or child. Even Pokemon could hold grudges for a long time. Still, she followed Gary away from the cave, and further out into the snow.

Not long after, some movement appeared in a lone patch of snow up ahead. The patch shook for a few seconds before revealing yet another Pokemon. This one was small, like the others, except it's body was wrapped in an orange, triangular cone of an unknown material. It was possible that the feature was a part of the Pokemon's body, the theory proven more by the fact that this particular species was never found without one. The rest of it's body was a coal black color, and was constantly shivering as it fervently held the cone to it's body for warmth.

"Did you happen to want a Snorunt?" Gary asked, looking over at the Ice-type.

“Talk about lucky,” Akinai remarked, more to herself then stating as a reply. “I've always wanted to try raising a Snorunt, even better if it's a female.” While she already had a couple Ghost Pokemon on her team, as well as having a slight aversion to them, the unique typeset of Froslass always interested her. Now she had a high chance of capturing one of her own. “So yes, definitely!”

The next step was simply deciding on what particular Pokemon to use in this match. Zen was out for a while, possibly the entire run unless the Gallade changed his mind. Plus, she had used him in the last two fights exclusively; he deserved a rest. Ember was another likely possibility as well, but this was the Blaziken's first run. If Ember was over-eager, she would possibly melt the small Basic before a capture could even be made. That left Gaard as the best choice for this situation. She pointed the Absol's Ball forward, calling out her teammate.

As Gaard materialized out onto the field, Akinai noticed that the Absol's white fur blended almost perfectly with the environment around them. This was likely a defense mechanism for the species, due to living in mountain environments and being hunted down by superstitious mobs. He appeared unfazed by the cold as well, only giving the area a dismissive glance before looking over at the Snorunt.

“Start things out with a Taunt, then go with a Sucker Punch,” Akinai called out towards the Absol. The combination was one of Gaard's favorites to use. While it was sort of a low blow to anger the shy Pokemon right off the bat, she was not in the mood to feel sorry for anyone else today after the encounter with Cubchoo. Unless this one proved different, she would use every opportunity given to her.

Gaard immediately began to bark out an impressive string of insults at the Snorunt, ridiculing how the creature looked among other things. While it was hard to judge the Pokemon's reaction so early on, if prior experience had anything to say the Snorunt was likely getting extremely annoyed.

Once Snorunt would make her move, Absol would then dart in with a near-lightning speed to get a quick strike in before the opponent. Due to the attack's speed it was hard to tell, but the move had a Dark affinity to it, likely due to the fact that was a move that some considered below the belt. If the Ice type managed to utilize a non-damaging move, however, the Sucker Punch would mysteriously fail.

Akinai seemed to show some instant interest in this Snorunt, by saying such things as, “Talk about lucky, I've always wanted to try raising a Snorunt, even better if it's a female. So yes, definitely!” And why shouldn't she be interested? Snorunt, or rather Froslass, could be a very good Pokemon. Sure it was mostly known for being one of those godawful parafusioners, but still you couldn't ignore its useful dual typing of Ghost, and Ice. It could take on most of the psuedos dead on. And it could stand toe to toe with some very common Pokemon such as Gengar, Alakazam, and Espeon. It wasn't the most powerful, sure, but it was pretty speedy. Fortunately for Akinai, Snorunt wasn't generally a haxy Pokemon like Froslass, but it also didn't mean that she could take it easy. I was just glad it wasn't Timburr that we were face to face with here.

Akinai decided to send out Absol for this battle. That made me kind of happy since I loved Absol in general, so I wanted to see how she battled with hers. “Start things out with a Taunt, then go with a Sucker Punch,” she commanded. This was a genius combo, one that I had actually seen one before in a battle between a Honchkrow, and a Gardevoir. Taunt the opposing Pokemon so they have no choice to attack you, and then use Sucker Punch to strike first. It didn't work out so well for the Honchkrow when I saw it battle, but that was because Gardevoir was switched out. This was not a trainer battle, so maybe Akinai would have better luck.

First up came Taunt. It was a luring move really. The user would trick the opposing Pokemon with a taunt, and make it only want to attack with moves that cause damage. I wasn't sure exactly how this would remain in effect, but if it did manage to work, then Snorunt would be forced to do nothing but attack. Absol gave Snorunt a glare of sorts, and waved it in with its right paw. Snorunt fell for the taunt, as it went in to attack Absol, just like Akinai had wanted.

Absol took advantage of this, and like the name said, got in a Sucker Punch before Snorunt was ready to do anything. This attack would always work first, unless the opposing Pokemon used a move with more priority, or if it didn't go to use a damaging move. Fortunately for her though this didn't happen, and Snorunt was punched back a few feet. The creature was down, but it was far from out. Unlike Froslass, Snorunt was a pure Ice-type, so Sucker Punch probably didn't do as much as it could do. And now, Absol was open to the full force of Snorunt's attack. I just hoped it wasn't like before with Cubchoo against Gallade, where Cubchoo wanted to attack second to strengthen its attack.

Snorunt took in a deep breath, and blew on the snow that was on the ground, infusing energy from its mouth with ordinary snow. The attack Snorunt was using was no normal attack, it was Frost Breath. While this wasn't the most powerful attack in Snorunt's arsenal, it certainly had potential to be a deadly one. This move would always, unless the opposing Pokemon had an ability to prevent this, result in a critical hit. It was a great way to bypass defense boosts, or if you're a crafty one, a great move to use in a team battle against your partner if their Pokemon had the ability Anger Point. Absol had no such ability, and so it just had to sit there and take the full force of Frost Breath, and its added effect. Absol wasn't exactly the most durable Pokemon, but it could certainly withstand a hit such as this one. On the other hand, Snorunt wouldn't probably be an easy one to beat either. This also just reminded me of something, once Akinai was done with this Snorunt she may have wanted to leave here, since you could only leave with three Pokemon. Guess we'd cross that bridge when we got to it though.

Snorunt had fallen for Gaard's taunting ploy perfectly. Instead on focusing on strengthening herself to help deal with the more powerful Pokemon's blows, the Ice-type was goaded to use a damaging move instead. Due to her decision, the Absol had no problem at all in striking with a quick Sucker Punch, causing the Snorunt to reel back as the blow connected.

“Nice job as always,” Akinai complimented Gaard. Whether it was her Absol or Mightyena utilizing the two sets of moves, she never tired in seeing it pulled off. The look of annoyance on their opponent's face, whether it was a wild Pokemon or another Trainer seeing his plan fail, was always a satisfying sight to witness. Now to hope that the Snorunt had not learned any powerful moves while living here in the Park...

At first, it didn't look like Snorunt was using a move at all; she simply puffed up a moment as if holding her breath. She finally blew at the snow in front of her and the Absol, the breath nearly visible as it flew through the air and towards it's target. While the move didn't look like much, looks were apparently deceiving in this case. Gaard didn't appear to care for it, shivering more then the Snorunt and stepping back a step as the wind blew past.

What in the world was that? Akinai wondered. It was possible the move was Icy Wind, but no icy rimes had been left on the Absol's body, so it was likely he could still move freely about. Other then that, she had no idea what the move was, nor what it had done exactly, “Gaard, are you alright?”

Gaard gave a terse nod in return, still looking fairly healthy. Whatever the move was, it appeared to leave no secondary effects, or they simply had not worked in this case. All in all, the attack had simply been a very damaging breath of wind. Unlike Zen, he appeared to have little problem with such a cold move being used against him, and was only looking curiously over at the Snorunt. Perhaps having a thick fur coat helped dull the coldness a small amount.

Now came the hard part: trying to decide what to do next. While Gaard had a large assortment of moves under his belt, thanks to Akinai using a paycheck's worth of TMs on helping increase the Absol's moveset, she had no idea what to try out next. Sucker Punch appeared to have done slightly more damage then she had expected, but she could always use a non-Dark move to whittle down the Snover's health bit by bit. Yet, something was telling her that she didn't want to waste time in this fight. After all, wild Pokemon could add defenses as well over time, though Taunt was in place to prevent that from happening. If Snover had any other moves she was unfamiliar with though, this battle could turn out with a very different conclusion.

She had half a mind to tell Gaard to go with whatever he wished to try out, then squashed that thought immediately. I got too spoiled working with Zen, Akinai mentally kicked herself. Gaard had no telepathic powers- he could hardly tell her what he thought was the best course of action unless he could pantomime it out. If Jade were here and had heard that suggested, she would have been whapped upside the head by one of the Flygon's wings by now. Just thinking about it almost made her want to rub the back of her head due to the imagery. Perhaps it had been a good idea that she had entered this area after all; no worries of being reprimanded by the Green Wonder.

Either way, Akinai was wasting time now. If she didn't send a move soon, the group would probably wonder if something was wrong. “Let's go with Aerial Ace! Once you're close enough, release a Thunder Wave,” she commanded Gaard. While it was somewhat odd to use two attacks with opposing elements, it would hardly matter in this instance. Snorunt, being an Ice Pokemon, was hardly resistant to either type.

Gaard nodded again, and leaped straight up, disappearing a moment as he entered the air. Aerial Ace, while strange to see being used by a non-Flying Pokemon, was a move that landed without fail by keeping hidden from the enemy's sight until it was far too late. When he was visible once more, the Absol was diving down towards the Snorunt.

Before striking at the Snorunt, Gaard began to puff his fur out in an attempt to build up a strong static charge. Once there was enough energy to work with, he would launch the energy at his opponent, the electricity hopefully causing the Pokemon to be gripped by paralysis.

Akinai seemed pleased with this previous combo. Her idea of Taunt, and forced attack to get in a Sucker Punch worked out perfectly. It was really a good way to start off a battle, get in some damage, and take away any non-attacking moves Snorunt could do for the time being. Most notable Swagger, one of the more risky hax moves. It makes the Pokemon it hits confused, but it also raises its attack by as much as a Swords Dance would. If that Pokemon didn't end up hitting itself in confusion, well then you just screwed yourself over. While likewise smacking from confusion would do some serious damage. Thankfully now though neither side really needed to worry about this, but I did wonder what Absol was going to do next.

“Let's go with Aerial Ace! Once you're close enough, release a Thunder Wave,” Akinai commanded. Aerial Ace seemed to be a bit random of a move, but Thunder Wave made perfect sense. Provided this worked Snorunt would be hurt some more, and would be paralyzed. Being paralyzed would prove to be handy for Akinai in the long run, due to all the benefits it offered. I had to wonder what Snorunt would do in retaliation here, because if it didn't do something, then it would be in some deep trouble.

Absol got ready, and went to use Aerial Ace. This seemed like a random move choice, but I guess it made sense. It was essentially the same exact move as Wing Attack, except you don't attack with your wings, but rather use your speed and slash at the opponent. This was another unique move that couldn't miss by just trying to dodge the attack. Absol ran over at Snorunt, but there was nothing it could do, no matter how hard it tried it couldn't dodge this, and there wasn't a move it could use. It was hit by Absol's horn, and sent back a few feet, but this wasn't it yet.

Absol used its fur to try to make some static electricity. This was to create the energy for Thunder Wave. By paralyzing Snorunt, Akinai would be making some key things happen. Snorunt would become slower, though that wasn't really needed. There was a slight chance that Snorunt would be unable to attack. But the third, and most important reason this was happening, was because being paralyzed meant that Snorunt would be easier to capture. It was a common reason that Thunder Wave was used in the park a lot, to try to keep a Pokemon down so it can't break free from the ball it was in. Nothing was worse than having a Pokemon weakened, only to see it break free of its Pokeball at the last minute.

Absol fired out the electricity at Snorunt, who was only just getting back up at the time. There was nothing the creature could do, and was hit by this, and was now paralyzed. Though it was paralyzed, Snorunt still did what it could to get in an attack. It used its energy to create a gust of wind, to send some of the snow around flying at Absol. Though Absol tried to avoid this, there was too much snow, and it was hit. This attack made the whole surrounding area freezing, like when you're outside while its snowing, and some blows into your face from the wind. This move here was Icy Wind, something that simulates that feeling. It was a good thing being paralyzed reduced speed, because Icy Wind reduces speed itself, and now Absol was slower. Though Snorunt was hit twice, and paralyzed it actually seemed to have some decent fight left in it. Of course Absol couldn't be counted out, and with Super Luck at its side, it could pull off a critical hit at any time.

Thanks to Gaard's superior agility, along with being within extreme close range of the Snorunt due to using a contact move like Aerial Ace, the Absol was able to successfully use Thunder Wave on his target. Snorunt, who had been knocked back a fair distance by the prior attack, flinched as the paralyzing move took hold of her form. Despite the paralysis, the Ice-type was still able to get back up and fight some more, albeit a little shaken.

“Well, that halfway worked at least,” Akinai muttered under her breath while casting a critiquing gaze on the Snorunt. While it was always good to see when both attacks landed on their target, she had made another mistake, this time underestimating the power of an attack. Snorunt had been hurt, there was no denying that. It seemed for more able to battle then she would assume at this point though, either that or it was a terrific actor. Then again, it was possible that Gaard's earlier Sucker Punch had hit in just the right spot, doing more damage then usual. Maybe if she just used it again, the Snorunt would be able to be captured. Granted, if a critical hit wasn't the reason why the earlier move had done so much damage and it managed to do so this time around... well, there would be nothing conscious to catch.

Snorunt, at this point, was charging up her own attack. Air ripples began to surround the shivering creature, then shot forth as a powerful breeze of wind. Unlike the wind the Pokemon had used before, this one did indeed leave cunks of ice on the Absol's fur as it blew past. There was no denying it; this move was Icy Wind. This still left Akinai curious on what Snorunt had used before. She made a mental note to possibly ask Gary later when the run was over.

Gaard shook his head then moved his body one limb at a time, first trying to shake off the ice then testing mobility when the former proved impossible. While the Absol was now hindered thanks to the ice coating part of his body, he was able to still move about fairly well. Plus, his decreased speed would matter little here thanks to using Thunder Wave. With paralysis, the crippled target had their speed lowered drastically. Unless Snorunt was able to shake off the effect or use a speed-increasing move multiple times, she was almost always guaranteed to attack last.

Even though they were still able to strike first, it still didn't deny the situation that they had a very healthy wild Pokemon in front of them, one Akinai was dead-set on capturing. She had no desire to ever repeat moves unless absolutely needed; most Pokemon caught on after the second use or so, and were able to either figure out a counter-move or avoid the combination entirely. Moves that had a chance of critically hitting were ruled out as well. If Gaard's Super Luck kicked in, there was no doubt in her mind that Snorunt would faint on the spot. That meant that she would have to go with multiple lower-damaging moves, and hope it was enough. Just in case though, maybe it was time to use one of the higher-quality Balls...

“Finish it, Gaard! Get in close with Quick Attack, then use Bite,” Akinai called out to the Absol. While both were weaker attacks than the last two orders, Bite could do a decent amount of pain due to being of the same element that Gaard was a part of. This could knock down Snorunt just far enough, or she could just be overestimating again.

Gaard rushed towards the Snorunt once more, going even faster than before if that was even possible. He was an almost unseeable white blur on the field a moment, blending in with the snow once more. Once close enough, he would mercilessly swipe towards the Ice-type with one of his claws, then move in with a painful Bite when there was an opening.

Akinai took this time to retrieve one of the capture devices from her side pocket, this time a Hyperball. While she hated using it on a lower-form Pokemon, she wanted to have a higher chance of capture without throwing move moves at it. Once Gaard had moved out of the way, she would throw the sphere forward.

Akinai seemed like she wanted to wrap this business with Snorunt up right now. It was possible, she would just need a little bit of luck. Though she had been pretty lucky thus far this run. She ran into some pretty nice, though not overbearingly tough. And she managed to handle everything that she faced with ease. Gallade even managed to bring two things down by itself, while still having about two thirds of its health, or so. For Pokemon lacking in extra moves, Akinai had some pretty tough Pokemon.

“Finish it, Gaard! Get in close with Quick Attack, then use Bite,” Akinai said to Absol. I could see this working. A Quick Attack to get in there closely, and then Bite to wrap things up. I was curious to see though if Akinai would throw a ball this time around, or if she'd wait to see how Snorunt is after Absol's attack on it. I also had to wonder if Snorunt would even get the chance to get one more attack in. I had some doubts though, because I wasn't sure if Snorunt knew any moves with priority, if it didn't it probably wouldn't get an attack off due to being paralyzed.

Absol started to dash at Snorunt. First up was Quick Attack. This wasn't anything too fancy, it was just a standard body attack. Though it did usually enable the one using it to move first, due to to its speed. Absol got over to Snorunt, who was just struggling to move around really, and smacked it up into midair with its head. This wasn't it yet though. Absol jumped up after it to finish its assault. Once it got to Snorunt, it opened its mouth, and took a big bite out of it. Bite was a vicious attack where the user would attack the opposing Pokemon by just biting down on it. It didn't matter who you were, that one had to hurt.

Snorunt came crashing down into the ground, and it looked like it might not be getting back up. Akinai took this chance, and pulled out a Hyper Ball this time from her backpack. She set her sights on Snorunt, and launched the ball at it. It sucked Snorunt in, and like with the previous Pokemon, this one put up minimal resistance, and so it was captured as well. I had to say I was impressed, no one usually captures three Pokemon this quickly, but she did.

"Congrats, you've made quick work of the three Pokemon you wanted," I said, as I went to grab Snorunt's ball to add with the other two. "So, now that you have three Pokemon would you like to keep going, or do you wish to leave?" I asked.

Thankfully, it appeared as if Gaard's attacks had whittled down the Snorunt's health down just enough, or maybe it was the Hyperball working it's magic in this situation. Either way, the sphere hardly shook as the Snorunt was sucked in with a now-recurring red beam of light. Instead, it almost immediately let off the ping accouncing that the capture had been successful.

Gary walked over and kneeled down to retrieve the Ball, placing it next to the ones containing both Sneasel and Cubchoo now. "So, now that you have three Pokemon would you like to keep going, or do you wish to leave?" The Ranger asked, standing back up once more.

Akinai mulled over the possibility of either leaving now or seeing what else was ahead, recalling Gaard as she did so. While she was pretty satisfied with her current captures, though Cubchoo had been a surprise, she had a slight nagging feeling that there were other interesting Pokemon still waiting ahead. Plus, it was somewhat surprising to see so many one after another. Either they had managed to stumble upon a makeshift community, or the wildlife here was simply more willing to battle then those residing in Meteor Valley.

“Let's continue on just a little further,” Akinai replied. “While I'm happy with the three I have now, I'm still sort of curious to see if there are any more surprises around the corner.”

“Let's continue on just a little further. While I'm happy with the three I have now, I'm still sort of curious to see if there are any more surprises around the corner,” Akinai said. It was a fair response, there was nothing wrong with wanting to continue. She could have run into something she wanted more, or something awful. That was the nature of the park. Either way though I continued to lead her along, this time back into the cave. Figured it couldn't hurt to give Fighting-types another try, at least not since we got around that Timburr.

We started walking around in the cave, and after checking behind a few rocks I noticed something. I couldn't believe my eyes though, well I could believe them, I just wanted to yank them out. This was a medium-sized yellow Pokemon, in fact one of the two Pokemon that haunt my dreams. It was a bulky little thing. It had a black chest area, and what seemed like two black gloves on its hands. There was red circles on its cheeks. And it had slit like eyes. There was a knot on its head, which was like a punching bag. I'm sure a certain Pokemon like that. And you could see two toes on its feet. I didn't know at first glance if this was a male or female, but if it was female, then I was sure that Timburr I saw before, or a Conkeldurr was around here before. I was just glad of one thing, it wasn't here right now, or I might have had to jump off of Mount Oktori screaming. I knew though that the horrible visions would return....

"So, before I go throw up, do you want this Makuhita?"

Gary, deeming that Akinai's response was fair enough to continue forward on, led the group onward. They entered yet another cave system, though whether it was to see if there were any Fighting types that she was interested in or just wanted to be out of the snow was uncertain.

At first, the cave appeared to be completely devoid of anything save for some rocks and ice lining some parts of the walls. While Akinai was about to suggest maybe checking out another cave instead, the Ranger opted to search about first, just in case. While she would have normally be fine with such an action, she was a little leery to stay in this specific cave system; after all, it appeared to have a small side tunnel leading towards the direction of the first one they had entered, making the two possibly connected.

During his search, specifically behind an interesting rock formation, Gary suddenly froze in place, as if seeing something horrific. For the moment he even looked too loss for words.

“Something wrong?” Akinai asked worriedly, walking over to the Ranger. Before she could get any closer, a somewhat chubby Pokemon waddled out from behind the formation. It's body was built like a sumo wrestler, and had a yellow-orange hue to it. In addition, while it's eyes appeared to be always closed, it had no trouble looking about, proving this while staring at both of the two humans.

"So, before I go throw up, do you want this Makuhita?" Gary muttered quickly in attempt to get the words out as fast as possible. He didn't appear to be lying about the first remark either; the Ranger was beginning to look slightly green.

“No thanks, but are you okay?” Akinai asked, her gaze alternating between both the Pokemon and Ranger. She didn't care for the Makuhita line as well, but she was hardly about to become physically ill just by being near one. There was possibly a story behind that one, but this didn't seem to be the time or place to ask about it. “If it wants to fight though, I'm out of Dolls. If you have any more I can buy one off you, but otherwise will just have to hope it allows us to pass.”

“No thanks, but are you okay?” Akinai asked.

"I'm fine. It's just this long story between a Makuhita, and a Conkeldurr, that my friend Eric once told me. It was pretty sickening, I don't really wanna go into details, but it was why I was also happy to see you pass on Timburr before. That doesn't really matter right now though, this isn't the appropriate place for such a conversation. If you remind me later on I can tell you the story, but in mean time let's just ignore it," I said to Akinai. It was a rather disturbing story, one that I'd prefer to not share with a trainer in the middle of their run.

“If it wants to fight though, I'm out of Dolls. If you have any more I can buy one off you, but otherwise will just have to hope it allows us to pass,” Akinai said. I was wondering how this one would go. I didn't really feel like charging Akinai for a Pokedoll, but the two things she ran into that she didn't want gave her some trouble and didn't want her to pass. Likewise they were both Fighting-types much like this Makuhita. I could only hope it would leave us alone as we tried to make our way around it. It had intense focus on us though, so I was a bit worried that it would have prevented us from going on, but an idea had just dawned on me.

"Well...it can't hurt to try. Hey Makuhita look, a Conkeldurr!" I said, as I pointed my finger to the left. Makuhita turned its attention in that direction, and with that I signaled for Akinai to run with me. "Man, I can't believe that actually worked. Makuhita you fool," I said, happy that my idea worked. We got around Makuhita, but we ran so far down the cave that we actually ended up running into another Pokemon almost instantly.

This Pokemon seemed like one that was meditating. It was sitting with its knees bent, and feet together, with its hands resting on its knees. Its head was onion shaped, and white in color. It also appeared like it was wearing a white diaper, or skimpy pants. The rest of its body was blue in color, aside from its white wrists, and it had wide, focused eyes. It had a really fantastic ability, Pure Power. This doubled its attack strength. This meant its mediocre attack became a forced to be reckoned with. This didn't make it a fantastic Pokemon, but it was still popular.

"Did you happen to be interested in a Meditite?"

Akinai quietly listened to Gary's hasty explanation of why the nearby Makuhita was bothering him, giving a polite nod in return when he was done speaking. While she did had no idea just what caused the Ranger to despise these two particular Pokemon, perhaps it was best that she didn't know after all. The last thing she needed was to start avoiding yet more Pokemon due to some horror story or tale one heard somewhere down the line. For now, her only interest was finding a way to pass this Makuhita.

At first, the Fighting Pokemon seemed adamant on staying directly in front of them. Akinai prepared to pull out her wallet to shell out the funds needed for a Pokedoll, but something else happened first. Suddenly Gary jerked his head to the side as if spotting something, pointing in the same direction as well, “Hey Makuhita look, a Conkeldurr!"

Surprisingly, the Makuhita turned and looked over, searching for the phantom Pokemon. As soon as it had turned around, the Ranger sprinted forward and motioned to Akinai that she should hurry along as well. "Man, I can't believe that actually worked. Makuhita you fool," Gary mused to himself, clearly happy that his plan had worked.

Akinai just shook her head in return. This run was turning out to be quite a strange one indeed. While interesting though, she was debating on calling it a day soon. She did have three Pokemon after all, and nothing they were running into now seemed interesting to her.

As they headed further into the cave, they came upon yet another Fighting-type, this one with it's eyes closed and sitting deep in meditation. Unlike the others, this one was actually a hybrid type; the same type combination as Zen, actually.

"Did you happen to be interested in a Meditite?" Gary asked, taking note of the Pokemon as well.

“I'd like to pass if possible,” Akinai replied. “While it has a nice type conbination, I prefer using Gallade over Medicham,” she added, stating the second part in a lower voice in hope that the Meditite didn't overhear. She really didn't want to hurt the Pokemon's pride, possibly angering the creature. “Once again, I can buy a Doll if needed.”

“I'd like to pass if possible,” Akinai replWhile it has a nice type conbination, I prefer using Gallade over Medicham. Once again, I can buy a Doll if needed,” Akinai replied in sight of this Meditite. That was fair enough. Gallade was a better Fighting, Psychic-type than Meditite to be honest, and if you canceled Medicham's ability somehow, then it was pretty weak. Gallade wasn't exactly a tank either due to both Brave Bird, and Acrobatics. But as things looked Gallade could both take, and dish out a hit better. No need for Akinai to start a rivalry between these two.

I didn't have some scheme to get around Meditite, so I just figured I'd take a chance and walk right past it. It didn't even give us a look really, it must have really been in a very deep state of meditation to just ignore us. Or perhaps it didn't feel like fighting either. Any way you sliced it we were able to get passed it without any trouble, and without Akinai needing to spend money. With that we were off once more, but I had to wonder just how long Akinai would stick things out. She seemed to have zero interest in any Fighting-type, and she had already captured three decent Ice-types. The only thing I could think was that she was just holding out for a better Ice-type.

I continued to lead Akinai through the cave. It would be a bit more of time before we found ourselves back outside, but that was alright, maybe something she would want would come our way. Maybe she'd even want the thing that we just ran into. It was an unusual looking create that poked its head up from nowhere. It was rather lizard-like. Its eyes were more like on the side of its head, rather than in the center, and it had teeth like those of a Croagunk. It had a yellow head, with a red scale on the top. It had a cream colored body, with small limbs, and a red scaled midsection. It looked like it was trying to hold up a pair of pants, but I knew this was just its skin, seeing as how some of it formed a tail. It was a unique Fighting/Dark-type Pokemon, and one that could be very powerful when evolved. Though if I remember reading right, Akinai only obtained its evolved form very recently, but I needed to ask anyway.
