"Leo, you want another run?" Crystal, the brunette behind the main desk asked after seeing my just walk into the building.

"No, I just got in." I grumbled. "Get Buzz to do it after he's done in the kitchen."

"He's out on a run." She said.

"Winter? Chain? Gman?" I asked.

"All gone." She responded, "As a matter a fact, you're the only ranger in this building at the moment, everyone left before I even got a chance to ask."

"Bastards." I whispered quietly.

"There might be something waiting for you when you get back." She said, winking at me. "I'll be waiting in your office." We got new secretaries very often, I could never understand why, but they kept getting replaced.

"Well, then I guess I can take this." I grinned. "Also make sure I get paid double for this as well." I grabbed my gear and the folder and headed out of the office. I looked over to the large tree that Shadow liked to lay down under. He had just put his head down and closed his eyes. As soon as he noticed me coming he took off running, he knew what I was coming for.

"Wait up, I got something for you." I called out. He stopped running and eyed my suspiciously. "Just come with me once more today. This Trainer seems like a weirdo and I don't want to go alone." Shadow slumped to the ground and whimpered. Before he could argue any more. Mindbender appeared before us and quickly teleported us to Mt. Deckbi. Shadow just glared at me, not saying a word.

"So, we'll wait for this... Natsu guy." I said, taking a look at his file.

Chapter One : A Day's off for the Co Head? [Part I]​

The National Park Headquarters wasn't always this busy everyday ever since a new squad of Rangers were hired. But however, ever since the Head Ranger Sara went missing after an important mission, most burdens, problems and many other issues were piled onto the shoulders of the Vice Head, a young man by the name of Haru.

Haru is a young adult originally descended from the Unova region with wavy black hair that generally hangs over his brown eyes. He is a muscular and extremely tall and appears to be younger than he actually is. He also has a tattoo on his right shoulder which reads "Amore" ("Love" in Italian), and consists of a heart with angel wings around it. He typically wears either his park uniform or flashy short sleeved shirts with open collars. He also wears a dark, long-sleeved shirt with a dragon-like designs emblazoned on the left side of his shirt.

Sara stands about 5'4" tall(shorter than Haru) and weighs a petite 105 lbs. Her red and black ensemble are her Ranger's mark; it's not pictured, but she also has a golden badge with the letters "NP" pinned to the middle of the PokeBall symbol on her shirt. Her long blonde hair normally hangs free, unless there's a situation where it needs to be put back to keep it out of the way. Her brown hip-pack holds her Pokemon's PokeBalls, while a black backpack (not pictured) carries at least one of each Ranger item, or at least, this is how Haru remembers her as that's how she was like the last time she was seen around the National Park.

Sighing to himself, Haru sat in his assigned desk in his office, currently placed in the highest floors of the HQ, as he looked out of the windows with a fond interest. No one could enter this abode, even the Rangers themselves. Even the superior Rangers, particularly the Elites are only supposed to submit in their daily reports of various happenings in the Park. Mentioning that, they have no clear idea what the Demigods of the Park even looked like. I mean, they were not worshiped or anything, but due to the hefty amount of administration work, they were rarely seen. It would be like witnessing a Suicune in a river while you're taking a gulp or two for a drink to quench your thirst in some hot, damp forest. As Haru takes a sip of his freshly brewed Peru coffee, he starts to reminisce the old days. Haru has known Sara ever since he was a kid, although she was older than him by a year or two, they've been the best of friends. Haru came from Driftveil City way far in the Unova Region, and due to the haphazard weather there due to mining and other activities, he moved in to Snowpoint City of Sinnoh, where Sara is from, for a new change of environment would do his health some favor.

The Unova region is a large area of the Pokémon world and is situated far away from the four other large regions, and the Pokémon which inhabit Unova are diverse and different from those of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh.

Strangely, Sara is the daughter of the Snowpoint Gym, a known colleague to Haru's Dad. Thus making friends with her wasn't that tough as he thought it would have been. Although Sara was older than Haru by three years, she has always liked him for some of his traits. One in particular would be whereby his maturity really shoots through the roof when time calls for it. For someone his age of course, that wouldn't be possible. But that's what made Haru unique and different. Of course, they've always have had their own moments together at times. Good things doesn't last too long, and so, Haru moved back to Unova once his health recovered to a stable state. The depart was emotional and both sides shed tears while waving the other farewell. However, that melancholy didn't last long. As years passed, Sara proved to be quite a handful on her part and somehow took over ownership of the National Park, which was recently erected.

National Park was originally from the Johto region. Although, thanks to the newly moved in Safari Zone, it has lost the reception it should get and thus, it moved to the Sinnoh region. Newly reconstructed, this building stands about a good 20 feet tall. It also serves as a base for all the Region Rangers, who watch over the Park, and the region overall.

Haru knew it wasn't that much of a surprise, after all, she is meticulous, prompt, and overall a beautiful and caring person. He always had respected her since young, because of her excellent leadership skills. 10 years later, Haru returned to Sinnoh as a promising young man. His health wasn't as fragile as it used to be back then, and although still childish by heart, he knew when to be serious. A trait liked by Sara of course. Haru had a heartwarming welcome back at Sara's place, but he didn't exactly get it from the person he wanted. Although he was told of Sara's new position, and she might have forgotten about him, Haru was slightly upset. So what if Sara had forgotten him? Would his trip all this way to Sinnoh be voided? Is this all for naught? Haru's heart raced way ahead of time, as sweat dripped from his forehead.

"Hey Boss...."

The door opened, and Sara came in.

"Hey Boss, are you alright?"

As Haru turned around, he saw his old friend, and stood there still. Like Time and Space were torn apart, awaiting, awaiting for a reunion after 10 long years...

"HEY BOSS!!!"

"Oh sh*t! What is it, Nanao-chan?" Haru replied, as he was startled by his personal secretary.

Nanao Ise, Haru's personal secretary who takes care of the park's administrative matters on behalf of him. Nanao is a youthful young girl with black hair normally kept pinned back, she has blue eyes and wears glasses. She originates from Sinnoh's Canalave City, where she worked as a Librarian thanks to her exceptional Pokemon intellect, but got transfered to the National Park quite some while ago as Haru recognized her true potential. It was a lot of paperwork, but Haru has a soft spot for girls.

"Oh, my apologies sir. But for a moment when you stopped moving, I thought you were..." Nanao's voice tone was turned off for a slight while.

"What? Dead? Hahahaha. I still have a lot to achieve you know, Nanao-chan. Besides, who would take my place when I'm actually..." Haru was cut short of his speech.

"NOTHING LIKE THAT WILL HAPPEN!" Nanao replied, a little agitated, while throwing a file case on top Haru's table. She quickly turned around to hide her flushed face, as she started to walk towards the door, briskly.

"Oii, Nanao-chan! I'm kidding! Mind telling me what's this for? Come on Nana-chan~ " Haru had a slight voice discrepancy in his last few words, trying to flatter his secretary. Perhaps he wanted to cheer her up? God knows.

"That's your approval for a day's off. You wanted some time off...right? Of all things you could do, I'm still puzzled as to why do you want to visit the Park. Despite what you have in mind, I've assigned you a Ranger. One of your own Elites if I may say so." Nanao said quietly, as she paused for a moment, while turning her head a little sideways to give a decent reply to Haru.

"Oh, that was certainly fast. Thank you so much Nanao-chan. I so need this break, to ease my mind off a bit.." Natsu sighed, as he finished off his remaining coffee.

"But Sir, why use a fake name and sign up as a ordinary Trainer? Wouldn't you normally want your own Rangers to know who you really are? I'm pretty sure this Ranger in particular be delighted to know who's exactly he's working for." Nanao questioned.

"Haha, although you bring up a very debatable point, Nano-chan, remember, if I were to tell him I'm your boss, wouldn't he be really nervous around me? That would actually affect his job in some ways or another. I'd like to see how my Rangers really work, with ordinary Trainers. Thus why I became one myself." Haru's laughter filled up the room, as Nanao was still determined not to turn around fully, as to show her flushed face.

"Well...If you put it that way, fine. But why are you going to Mt.Deckbi on your off day? Aren't there many other places you could have actually picked whereby you can really be relaxed? Not only is that place hot and humid, the area's surrounding air is also covered in thick soot. Especially around the volcano itself. Local reports from our Rangers also indicate around this time of the year, the volcano eruption is inevitable. Why take such a risk?"

"Oh, Nanao-chan. You certainly are very informative and skilled about knowledge pertaining to the Park. Hahaha. Now do you why I actually chose to have you work for me then the small old library back at Canalave?" Haru smirked as he walked towards Nanao.

"Flattery won't get you anywhere, Sir" Nanao's voice was firm this time, not entertained by Haru's indirect answer.

"Well, I'll tell you everything when I get back, is that alright? I don't want to make my Ranger wait. Oh, and who is that again? I don't want to look like a total idiot when I'm there." Haru laughed a little.

"Ranger Leo, Elite Ranger of the National Park. One of the senior Rangers if I may say so. Red hair, wears a black eye patch on his right. He's pretty outgoing with the ladies, and we've changed like a few secretaries on the reception counter at first level very often" Nanao replied.

"That guy has got some harem, eh? Hahaha" Haru once again laughed out a bit.

"No, he only thinks he does. Only person around here who's actually close to being a harem would be you." Nanao replied in a quiet tone.

"Come on Nano-chan. Cut the guy some slack..How am I being all Harem?! If it's because of the three secretaries...Aww, Nanao-chan, You should know that you're the only one for me!" Haru replied in a flirty way.

"Oh, shut up please!" Nanao shut her eyes, as she threw a file right at Haru's face.

THWOP!

"....."

There was no reaction from Haru for three whole minutes.

"Oh my god, Haru san. Are you alright?!" Nanao panicked.

"Hmm, and what is this file for, and did you just call me Haru...san?" Haru asked, as he slowly peeled off the file that was stuck to his face.

"Those are the other Rangers whom you've hired, basically, who're working under you. I thought you might want to take a look at that. We've got a quite a number of staff if you think about it. Ever since Sara sama..." Nanao got paused by a slight disturbance in the air.

"Nanao. It's ok. Now, let me take a look at these few people. Hmm..." Haru dragged his tone a bit, as he began to scan through the file.

Elite Ranger James Cartor, 20, Male, Technology User in the Park. Wears a Lens over his right eye. Always in big black boots and black overcoat. Hates the heat, and loves his job as an Elite Ranger. User of Gallade, and Staraptor.

"Hmm, quite an interesting application. Hah. I'd love to get on an RP Mission with this fellow here. What's more amazing is he's also an Elite, like Ranger Leo. Why am I not surprised..." Haru questioend to himself.

"That's because you're the one who actually promoted those two for Elite Rangers. You have not forgotten that now, have you?" Nanao looked at Haru.

"Urm...Certainly not! Well, let's move on!" Haru replied, as he read another application under James Carter.

Ranger Ivy Frost, 20, Female, Wayfinder of the Park, always carries items with her all the times. Medium length reddish hair, average height and build. Wears a thin black turtle neck under a long, red canvas coat with a hood. Rarely uses a bag.

"Oh, a female Ranger? That's quite the rare sight. Hahaha, she sounds pretty adventurous to me, don't you think so, Nanao-chan~?" Haru looked at his secretary.

"No comments" Nanao was pretty short with her comments.

"Well, moving on..." Haru was about to flip over to his next application.

Ataro, 17, Newly recruited Ranger...

"Sir, we don't have the time to go through every single Ranger right now. Perhaps you can look at the rest of them when you're back." Nanao suggested.

"But you were the one who gave me the file in the first place...but at least, let me finish up this last application. Ataro..sounds a cute girl's name!" Haru replied.

"Yeah, I thought you'd just go through the entire thing, just looking at the names. I never knew you'd literally read the whole application of every ranger out...and No, Ataro ...well, never mind what I said. You have no time now, please do not waste any more time!" Nanao said.

"Alright!" Haru replied as he shoved the file to one side of his office desk.

"Take care of things here Nanao-chan. You're the only one I can really count on.." Haru let out a deep sigh, as he walked towards Nanao and tapped her shoulder.

Nanao was completely caught off guard. Quickly turning around, she was only welcomed by Haru's warm smile. Of course, this time her flushed face couldn't escape Haru's eyes but he pretended not to notice it. Just before things got too intense..

DORO DORO DORO DORO DORO

"Can you get rid of that annoying ring tone?! Can't you get anything better??" Nanao pushed Haru aside, agitated by the music of the transmission emitted from the Wall Television across the room.

Haru quickly took out his mini controller-like device and pointed it directly at the television screen. That device was actually housing an infra red laser, which is basically used to operate most of the things in his room. Of course, this can be only activated by Haru's thumb-print on the device itself, and would prevent from anyone else from the outside intruding into his personal space. With his thumb placed at the indented spot, a long laser jettisoned out and jumped somewhere below the screen, where the infra-red laser homing checkpoint is positioned, turning the TV on. Haru's intensified face quickly erupted a huge sweet smile, as it was the only kind of visual report done by none other than one of his other Secretaries, Yoshino Soma.

Yoshino has long, soft brown hair, parted on the side. She wears a large-collared shirt with a vest over it that fans out at the bottom, giving it the appearance of tails. She compliments most of her outfit with mostly a red or a maroon tie. She also wears a gold bracelet, which she usually uses for visual reporting.

The transmission started off hazy at first, but as soon as it started to settle down, Nanao quickly stood beside Haru. She has pretty much heard about this visual reporting plenty of times, but this would be the first she's actually going to "see" it.

"What have you got for me this time, Somasu~ ?" Haru asked.

"Somasu teba, answer me! What have you got for me this time?" Haru asked, again.

For a few minutes, Nanao was puzzled as to why Soma isn't replying to Haru. Although she was also trying to figure what on earth does su at the end of Soma and teba actually mean. Haru has this tendency to name all of his close colleagues a prefix or annotation from the Japanese Language, and it might get out of hand at times. But of course, they aren't just names. He tends to only use names on those he deeply cares about.

"Haru-sama. I can hear you clea..Oh Nanao, finally got the time to hear my visual report are you? Most of the times you aren't really present, and how sweet..Standing beside..."

"Somasu, cut the chat and fill me on with the details." Haru seemed pretty serious.

"Oh, sorry, Haru-sama. I'm afraid I found nothing as per what you asked me."

"Not even a single lead, couldn't your Sigilyph trace anything using its psychic powers?" Haru opened his eyes wide, and overall portrayed a puzzled look.

At that very moment, Soma's partner Pokemon came by the screen and made its presence known to Haru. Sigilyph is basically a psychic type Pokémon, possessing three cyan eyes, with a third one on top of its head. It also has four wing-like growths around its body, and two probe-like spikes serving like it'slegs.

"Sigiiii~" the ancient-like Pokemon let out a huge cry across the screen.

"So glad you could join us, Sigi-chan. Oh, and Haru-sama, back on topic." Soma paused for a while, closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

"Nothing at all. Although, Sigi-chan seems to have... observed a natural disturbance... in the air. The wild Pokemon... whom usually roam outside... Mt.Deckbi are actually... moving inside of the mountain. That usually... doesn't happen. I have no idea what's actually... making them... move about places." Soma replied, with a pause here and there, thanks to bad reception.

"More than enough. Thank you so much Somasu~! Return back to HQ immediately" Haru said.

"Haru-sama, please do not...." Haru cut the intermission immediately before Soma could actually finish her sentence. How rude.

"Nanao-chan, I'm finally off. I've delayed my stay here too long. Take care of my office will you? I'll be back in a jiffy~!" Haru said, as he ran out of his office.

"You're not going there for a vacation, are you? I always hate it when you hide things from just like that. You better return back safe and sound, Haru.." Nanao slowly thought to herself, as she sat on one of the empty seats in the room and rested her head on the walls behind, slowly closing her eyes.

Haru hurried off to the reception allocated for Senior Staff, usually a checkpoint where they collect all necessary items before an expedition. Nonetheless, there was indeed another Secretary waiting for him. Ururu Tsumugiya.

Ururu is a young-looking girl who wears a white t-shirt with the National Park logo in limegreen print and a knee-length, pink skirt with white dots. She has purple eyes and long, black hair with a purple tint. It is parted down the middle, with two strands of her bangs in the middle of her face, opposing each other. She's the most youngest of the trio secretaries. Haru has three secretaries. One recruited for a different work aspect. Nanao handles the administration and paperwork. Soma is an external spy and does some scouting job. While Ururu being the youngest, she tends to Haru's personal belongings such as clothings and other owned items, like his very own Pokemon. Haru's Pokemon are closer to Ururu compared to the other two secretaries.

Pant...Pant...Pant...

"Hey.. Ururu, you got... all my... stuff... ready?" Haru asked, while having heavy breathes in between.

"Umm. Bossu. They are ready. I've also placed some emergency supplies inside. Please use them when you need them. I don't want to see you all worn out when you are back." Ururu hesitantly replied.

"Hah. Ururu. Such a sweetheart now, are we?" Haru smiled.

"Oh. Bossu. I've also healed all of the Pokemon you've asked from me for this expedition. I've placed them together in that bag of yours. Please take care of them well!" Ururu paused as she gave a cute bow, like Nurse Joy would, in the games.

"Blisssssss!" A voice was heard coming from behind Ururu.

"Ah, Blissey. Thank you so much for you help, dear. You truly are a exceptional Pokemon." Haru thanked Blissey, Ururu's Pokemon Partner.

Blissey has a large egg shaped body, one half pink and the other white. The hair-like growths she had as a Chansey have curled up on her head. She has white, wing-like appendages where her arms meet her body and around her middle. She seems to have lost the tail she had as a Chansey. Like her pre-evolutions, she has a pouch on her stomach that holds an egg. Blissey was just like Ururu, in terms of personality of course. It is an extremely compassionate Pokémon by nature. If it sees a sick Pokémon, it will attempt to nurse the injured Pokémon back to health. Blissey's fluffy fur allows it to sense feelings of sadness. Upon sensing any sadness, this Pokémon will race to the source of the sadness, no matter the distance, and share its egg of happiness that instantly makes a person smile. Although Ururu doesn't express her emotions well enough, she still cares for her friends. That's what Haru liked about Ururu, and thus, she's now his third secretary.

"Alright, princess. I promise, I will take good care of them. They will be full of life even when I return. You can be sure of that!" Haru gently tapped Ururu's head as he gave his words of assurance. Without wasting a moment, he hurried to the nearest lift, to exit the building.

Ururu looked up once again, as she watched Haru enter the nearby lift. Not before long however, he turned around and bid farewell to one last time, with a huge grin on his face. Why did he look so happy?

"Sigh, so he left already?" A booming voice was heard from afar.

To Ururu's surprise, it was the other Secretaries! Nanao and Soma arrived in the nick of time, just when Haru bid his final farewell to the whole team. Hah, what else could he have been so happy for? It couldn't have been just Ururu.

"Well Ururu, let's get back to our work. Worrying about him all day won't do any good." Soma spoke out, with the three were gathered in one spot.

"Blisssssssy" Blissey was jumping in joy.

"Uhh, Soma san, can we take a little break at the refreshment room? I'm pretty sure we've all had our fair share of work for today, and I don't think it would hurt resting for a bit. It has been a while since we did anything together.." Nanao suggested.

"Mhm!" Ururu gave out a huge positive reply.

"Sigh. Ah well. Let's make haste. All the good food will be gone if we end up late!"

"Blissey, want to join us?" Ururu didn't forget about her partner Pokemon after all.

"Blissey has all sorts of healing moves in its arsenal right? I'm pretty sure we'd really be relaxed around her. Come on Blissey, let's be on our way now!" Soma replied.

As such the quartet made their way to the refreshment room, which was two corridors away from Haru's office. While Blissey couldn't just walk all the way and do nothing at all, she quickly put her tiny hands together and created a ball of energy. It grew bigger as time passed, but at the right moment, the ball of replenishing energy soon exploded into a soothing wave that filled the entire atmosphere.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhh" The group let out a sigh of relief, as they continued venturing down the corridor, proceeding to the refreshment room.

Haru was led out safely by the receptionist at the ground floor. Of course, it had to be another girl. But he was already late to actually make his way there, so somehow he sweet talked his way through as such an Abra was already waiting for him outside, in its usual zen mode to take him there via Teleportation. It was as if it was in a deep meditation, and Haru took this opportunity to get out at least one Pokemon to keep him company in his Expedition into the Park. Since he had no moment to actually pick and choose what he really wants, Haru just reached into his bag with his left hand and took out whatever Pokeball it gets hold off. Haru smirked, as he retracted his hand out of the bag and took a deep gaze at the Pokeball.

"Haha, it's been a while, buddy. I need your help. Come on out, Garchomp!" Haru was totally enthusiastic, as he flung the Pokeball towards the air.

It broke in half and a huge light was released. It was so bright that it actually woke up the meditating Abra, and temporarily blinded it. Haru took preparations before hand, as his eyes were shielded by his brand new dark shades. As the light began to fade, an black silhouette fell from the sky.

"GAARRRRRRRRRRRR"

It led out a huge roar as it crashed landed on its two feet. The ground it landed on gave way as it created an indent from the hefty landing. Dusty air were swept about but Haru took extra care by covering his face with his hands at the right time. What an entry.

"Hey Garchomp. It's been a while.." Haru called out to his Pokemon.

"Garrrr....." Garchomp gave a give smirk, happy to see his Trainer again, just like old times.

Garchomp has been with Haru as long as anyone could remember. Some say it was Starter Pokemon, and there are some who disagree. But the bond they share as Trainer and Pokemon, couldn't be surpassed by any other teams of their generation. Haru's Garchomp had its slight differences compared to the others out there. His Garchomp is light blue, with a maroon underbelly that covers from the middle of its abdomen, to its jaws, and then to the undersides of its arms. Underneath that is a orange diamond shape as well a orange cross on its snout. Normal ones are dark blue with a maroon underbelly. Its eyes have black scleras and gold colored irises. Some of his Rangers suggested that it might be a shiny form of its kind, but Haru isn't bothered by it. He loves Pokemon as they are, and couldn't be worried for anything else.

"Okay Garchomp, let's do this!" Haru called out to his star Pokemon.

"Gar! Gar!" Garchomp replied in psyche as it signaled Haru to climb on board.

Haru ran towards his star Pokemon, making a huge leap and landed right on top of the hammerhead. Garchomp began to fold up its body and extended its wing. It took a stance of a jet plane, and within seconds, it was up in the air and started flying towards Mt.Decbi at an amazing speed.

"Woaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" Haru let out a huge relief of excitement as he was high up in the air.

Although he couldn't help but feel he forgotten something.

You forgot the damn Abra.

It took a whole five minutes to reach the designated area. Mt.Deckbi, a towering hot volcano that keeps many caves alive with its running magma. It's in dark red-brown in color and has a wide trail that spirals around it, eventually leading to the magma core. Legend has it that a massive legendary Pokemon is in a hibernation deep inside the magma core for a very long time. Hopefully Haru isn't too cocky enough to do something stupid now, or would he? Only time could tell.

As Garchomp began circling around the sooty air, Haru was on the constant lookout for any Rangers nearby. Particularly he was looking out for one who was assigned to him. The area itself was pretty huge, and reading so many reports of this place, Haru underestimated the overall landscape size of this area.

"Hey Garchomp, look out for any signs of a house like place around the entrance. That's where the Rangers would wait for their Trainers before the start of the expedition. I don't think we can find anything between the mountain range, so dive a little low and we'll be sure to find out the checkpoint of Mt.Deckbi" Haru replied, as Garchomp began to dive slowly, to the mountain region.

"Garrr...Chomppp!"

Garchomp growled as the dusty air kept pelting against his face. However, being part ground, that didn't affect him entirely and his eyesights were as perfect as a bullseye. He quickly spotted the Ranger, who was basically too engrossed with some sort of file in his hand and was stationed outside the vicinity of the checkpoint. The hammerhead Pokemon began flying towards them, while Haru just remembered that he had to tell his Garchomp a very vital info, before they start this expedition.

"Oh yeah, that reminds me. Garchomp, for the mission's sake, my name from now on will be known as Natsu Dragneel. Don't go off whenever the Ranger treats me like a kid. Haha. it's on the list." Haru requested Garchomp.

"Gar.." Garchomp rolled its eyes, complying to his strange request.

"Hah, thanks for understanding pal. Ok, let's not wait any longer. Let's land now, somewhere around the Ranger. Oh, and be careful not to cause any extensive damage while you're landing. I know you're very proud of your landings nowadays, and besides, this isn't where you should really expose your strength. Although look at the irony. Desert-like battlefield and it's already taunting you to fight, doesn't it?" Haru giggled.

"Garch..Omp!" the hammerhead nodded.

"Hahahaha! I hear you buddy. But remember, let's not try to freak them out now. We're supposed to be a couple of amateurs! " Haru whispered to Garchomp.

Garchomp smirked a bit in reply, and braced itself in such a position and started rocketing itself towards the Ranger close to a jet speed range. You could barely hear any sound crackling in the air, that was how fast it was. In all Pokemon scientific means, Garchomp's fine scales if taken care well, would manage to reduce much drag in the air, and makes it easier for them to fly. The surrounding atmosphere was no problem for him though, since he's part ground. But however, it was a form of irritation for Haru. Within inches away from the ground, Garchomp closed its arm as it made its landing by thrusting its two huge legs into the hardened soil, tearing it apart. The landing caused a somewhat of a tremor which wasn't that huge-scale, but still was good enough to alert the Ranger and his Pokemon whom were around the entrance to Mt.Deckbi.

"Let's go, Garchomp..." Haru signaled him, as soon as he was finished tidying himself up.

"Gar!" Garchomp shook its head.

"Hey Ranger! Sorry about my abrupt landing there. Still practicing that part. Hahaha, practice makes perfect, yeah? Oh, and you're the one who's assigned to take me for the Expedition? Sorry I'm late as well! Had some issues back ... at home." Natsu gave a honest apology, as he noticed the Ranger was stunned a little by the tremor earlier, caused by Natsu's Garchomp.

Yes, from now on, our main protagonist Haru will now be named Natsu. Sorry fan readers!

The Ranger looked puzzled, for a weird trainer he looked like in the profile, he didn't really act like one, he thought. But then again, never really judge a book by a cover! In this case, that file.

"Oh, and before we begin, I'd like to use this thingy here. Not sure what exactly, but..." Natsu paused as he reached into his bags once again. This time round, he took out a piece of spray can. Thank god there was a name label, if not Natsu would probably think it's some other item.

"Yeap, this is the one. I'd like to repel all ground types here, if that's okay with you. My Garchomp can be pretty feisty at times, and with the other ground types who're around here, he might try to pick up a fight or two with them. My Garchomp is always itching to fight."

"Garrrrrr!"

Garchomp roared loudly, letting out a cyclone of soundwaves from its mouth, setting up a temporary sandstorm. He even started slashing the thin air with both of its sharp claws, leaving behind a bright white energy stream where it slashed. It fully agreed with Natsu. Quite the showoff, if you ask me.

"So Ranger, what is our schedule for today?" Natsu asked politely, once again, full of eager and interest. You could easily tell, because he has that stupid wide grin up his face again. Like he goes when he sees all three of his secretaries...

"Hey Ranger! Sorry about my abrupt landing there. Still practicing that part. Hahaha, practice makes perfect, yeah? Oh, and you're the one who's assigned to take me for the Expedition? Sorry I'm late as well! Had some issues back ... at home." Natsu said. He seemed sort of cool, at least the way he was riding his Garchomp seemed cool. I hoped I was wrong about his weirdness, but only time will tell.

"Okay, well I'm Cameron as you already know." I stated, I did introductions with everyone to break the ice and start a conversation with them, this guy was a five so far on my weirdo meter.

"Oh, and before we begin, I'd like to use this thingy here. Not sure what exactly, but..." Natsu said, reaching into his bag and pulled out a repellant. Judging by the color of the bottle, it was either Rock or Ground type repellant. "Yeap, this is the one. I'd like to repel all ground types here, if that's okay with you. My Garchomp can be pretty feisty at times, and with the other ground types who're around here, he might try to pick up a fight or two with them. My Garchomp is always itching to fight." This guy sure talked a lot. I didn't even get a chance to say anything, but it didn't matter, right now I didn't need to say anything to him. All I had to do was lead him.

"Garrrrrr!" His Garchomp roared, it was obvious that the repellant was affecting him since he was part Ground.

"So Ranger, what is our schedule for today?" Natsu asked, finally shutting up. I looked at him and then over towards the mountain.

"We'll just walk around the mountain today." I said, "Not really in the mood to go into the volcano. Besides, there's more better Pokemon outside of the volcano this time of year. As I said that, a small candle looking Pokemon floated in front of me, landing on my shoulder.

"See!" I said, a little too loudly, "You already have your first Pokemon. So do you want to battle this little guy?" As I said that, Litwick floated off of my shoulder and stood in front of Natsu, waiting for his response.

"Okay, well I'm Cameron as you already know."

The Ranger started off with a casual introduction, and Natsu was pleased he didn't entirely shut him up with his talkativeness. However, he did seem a little bit different from the application he read about Ranger Leo back at HQ.

He doesn't wear any eye-patches. That didn't bother Natsu though, as he was concerned with issues far larger than looks.

"We'll just walk around the mountain today." I said, "Not really in the mood to go into the volcano. Besides, there's more better Pokemon outside of the volcano this time of year.

Natsu paused for a while, and was probed into a deep thought.

Hmm, not really in the mood to do into the volcano eh? That is strange alright. Hmm, if I remember it right, Somasu told me the environmental changes only affected the Pokemon to shift about their locations. Did it have an alternate effect on people as well? Argh. I must be thinking too much. I need to focus on our trip and if I get the chance...

Just before Natsu could sum up his thoughts, he was shorltly disrupted by the Ranger.

"Besides, there's more better Pokemon outside of the volcano this time of year." the Ranger said, as we were greeted by a unfamiliar presence of a Pokemon that took the shelters of his shoulders.

"See! You already have your first Pokemon. So do you want to battle this little guy?"

The Pokemon had a purple flame atop its head. Its body was made up primarily of white wax. The folded, melted wax covered its right eye, thus leaving only the bright yellow left eye visible. It had a small smile.It quickly floated away, and stood directly in front of me, as if wanting to know an answer, just like the Ranger awaited for. But something was wrong...

"Hmm, this must be one of those new critters in the Park I suppose? Just in case, let me see what Dex says about him.." Natsu replied.

He reached into his bags once again, but this time, he pulled up a tool of some sort; The Pokedex.

The Pokédex was originally created by Professor Oak as an invaluable tool to all potential Trainers. It gives information about all Pokémon in the world that are contained in its database, although it differs in how it acquires and presents information over the different medias. However, they are also only given to a few trainers at a time, generally to the ones that are felt to have exceptional potential and skill. There are different types of Pokédexes and each Pokédex is special to a specific region.

Natsu's one was different of course, as it came in a form of a watch, and it looked more like a gadget than a tool actually. After all, Natsu does make his own gadgets, this wasn't that surprising after all. But it might have spooked the Ranger a bit, who knows?

"Dex, scan that Pokemon over there and give me stats, props!"

DORO DORO DORO DORO DORO DORO DORO

A lime green laser filled up the entire atmosphere, and as soon as it hit the Pokemon that stood right in front of Natsu, it began emitting information and uttered out the following words.

Litwick, the Candle Pokemon. Litwick shines a light that absorbs the life energy of people and Pokémon, which becomes the fuel that it burns. It will pretend to guide people around, while really using its light to suck away their life force.

"Litwick?" Natsu paused.

"I've always wanted a Chandelure! It's so cuteeee!!" Sara jumped in joy.

"But Sarah, aren't they supposed to pretty rare? If my memory serves right, you can actually catch their pre-evolved forms, Litwick if you'd like. News reports indicate a group of them have recently been located here, in Mt.Decbi. Go get yourself one." Natsu replied.

Both of them were stationed in the Checkpoint near Mt.Deckbi for a priority mission.

"No, I want a Chandelure!" Sarah replied, persistently.

"Then you're better off looking for one in the core of the volcano! Hah!" Natsu laughed.

"If I could, I really would, Haru.." Sara save a slow response, as she looked outside the Mt.Deckbi checkpoint office, towards the humongous volcano.

"Heh, you never change, do you, Sara? Tell, you what. Let's go together and look for your Chandelure." Haru replied.

The conversation then ended with both of them exchanging each other with smiles...

"Hah. So you're Litwick, I see. Glad to meet you. I'm Natsu, and I'm going to capture you. Even still, this Pokemon is quite handful, don't you think so, Ranger? Oh, and you feel alright? Since this little guy has the tendency to "suck" away life forces, I feel it might have drained some of yours, since he was perched on top your shoulders for a while now. But let's not get drafted away. Ok Garchomp, prepare for some battle!" Natsu looked back, and smiled at Garchomp.

The blue hammerhead ran towards the Litwick at such a high speed, that its wing created blades of wind which started tearing the ground around it, and whipped up a sandstorm which Garchomp essentially used as a shield, that is, if Litwick tries to throw any flame-based attacks, they can be swiftly doused out by the sandy shield.

"Okay Garchomp, let's start thing off with a Dragon Rage!" Natsu gave out a command, as the his star Pokemon was closing in to the Litwick.

Garchomp quickly paused during his mid-flight and opened its mouth wide as energy started gathering inside of it. Without haste, as soon the ball of energy was strongly condensed, it fired a red-orange fireball from its mouth at the opponent.

"While Litwick prepares for that incoming attack, Garchomp, use Dig and get behind Litwick. It has a good move pool, and we don't really want to get hit by its Will-O-Wisp in particular. But still, be on the lookout, Garchomp! If Litwick tries anything funny, don't be afraid to use that Dragon Pulse of yours and propel yourself away from that little candle! We're still doing damage to it! Let's go!" Natsu have been using Garchomp as far as anyone can remember, and he tries to take full advantage of his star Pokemon's ferocity as much as he could.

Garchomp smirked as it flew into the air and later dived into the ground. Only time could tell if Litwick successfully puts off the Dragon Rage. Even if it does, it then had to find Garchomp who's now concealed Underground, and if given any opening, will pile the Litwick with Dragon Pulse, a strong dragon-type move. If Litwick tries any moves of its own, Garchomp could also use Dragon Pulse as a form of propulsion and counter the incoming attack, while throwing itself back, not getting close to the life sucking candle. Natsu had to make sure he doesn't make any contacting moves since Litwick could either be fortified with Flame Body, or does he use any fire-based moved if the little critter comes with a Flash Fire, which strengthens its own Fire Type moves. But knowing Garchomp, Natsu understood it might use its opponents own moves and somehow use it to its own advantage. But however, since he has yet to see any moves from Litwick yet, he could do nothing but wait in anticipation...

I pulled out some headphones and turned on some music, even then I could still hear him rambling on.

"Okay Garchomp, let's start thing off with a Dragon Rage!" Natsu commanded. Garchomp opened his mouth wide, revealing rows of razor sharp teeth. In his mouth, I could see a large reddish orange ball of fire forming. When he got near the Litwick, he fired it. The ball appeared to be too fast for Litwick to counter, hitting it on its wax.

"While Litwick prepares for that incoming attack, Garchomp, use Dig and get behind Litwick. It has a good move pool, and we don't really want to get hit by its Will-O-Wisp in particular. But still, be on the lookout, Garchomp! If Litwick tries anything funny, don't be afraid to use that Dragon Pulse of yours and propel yourself away from that little candle! We're still doing damage to it! Let's go!" Natsu said. Even when giving a simple move he talked a lot. This guy could talk anything to death.

Litwick quickly recovered from the Dragon Rage attack and began mumbling something. I noticed a box of energy surrouned the field and quickly disappeared. I knew what that was, it was Trick Room. Then Litwick's body turned a whitish blue color before disappearing on the field. I watched to see how Natsu would react, probably by talking me to death.

The match was already set. Litwick just stood there and took the Dragon Rage like a fist thrown to a punching bag. Of course, the Litwick was actually waiting for a response from the Trainer. How in the world could it have thought that Natsu would already plunge it to instant death with a move called Dragon Rage? The Ranger was amused. However, the candle Pokemon wasn't really put down from one meager attack such as a Dragon Rage, even if it came from a Pokemon who's fully evolved. Litwick quickly recovered from the attack and began mumbling something.

"Garchomp, if you're near me, come out of the ground, right now!" Natsu shouted.

Garchomp was circling around the area's underground, since it was firmly told not to move in too close to Litwick. It eventually slit up the ground and resurfaced, only to stand beside Natsu, as the candle Pokemon actually had something up its sleeves. Litwick's eye glowed yellow and a large light blue rectangle with light blue transparent walls and ceiling appeared around the battlefield. Then, the light blue glow slowly faded away, as the walls and ceiling became invisible.

Natsu took a look around to find the Ranger, only to have him have a firm expression displayed on his face. He knew what move it was.

Trick Room

Natsu's mind started to wander off again. It was during the time when he was venturing in Mt.Deckbi, together with Sara, the Head Ranger. Of course, this is from when Natsu was still an amateur Ranger way back. The scene portrayed was particularly a battle, between a rogue Chandelure and Sara's Durant. Apparently, this was not the time when Sara actually wanted to own one, but their primary mission here was to repel away this ghost chandelier-like from a particular location it has chose as its nesting grounds. That particular location was used by a herd of Arons. Until of course, they were greatly oppressed by the Ghost and Fire type and were forced to relocate themselves.

"It has the upper hand now Sara. That Chandelure has already set up a Trick Room. Your Durant's speed is much higher than that fiend. You can't possibly get a hit in before the Chandelure."

"Just watch me, Haru-o-boy! You'll never know if you don't try, right? Haha!" Sara replied favorably.

The scene cut back to the current time, as Natsu gazed upon the Litwick, which used yet, another move to up its defenses. It's body turned a whitish blue color before disappearing on the field.

"Garrr?" Garchomp was stunned, as it tried to look around the space Litwick fenced itself in with Trick Room.

Heh, I'm in the same situation you were in Sara, but things are in favor for me here, as Garchomp is not inside the Trick Room. Litwick's holds the major advantage right now, and to even rub it in my face, it has disappeared. Acid Armor, eh? Still not good enough.

"Garchomp, here's what you'll do. Get as close as you can to the enclosed field where the Trick Room lies. I'm pretty sure that Litwick is still inside there, but it's not visible to our eyes...yet." Natsu assured Garchomp.

"Gar!" Garchomp nodded its head.

"Once you've taken your position, whip up a sand attack and direct the dusty air inside the confined space. It should reveal you a small silhouette of Litwick, but just for a few seconds before it settles down. Use this opportunity and use Aerial Ace, from outside the Trick Room. Tackle the Litwick and knock it out of the Trick Room's premises. It only holds superior speed only if it's inside the Trick Room. Aerial Ace gives you the better lead as the move never misses." Natsu replied.

Garchomp already had a visual going on its head of what Natsu expected it to do. A little bit reckless, but Garchomp was brave and bold enough to willing to pull of such a stunt. The Mach Pokemon raced towards the invisible forcefield. How did it know where the Trick Room exactly was when it's invisible? Simple. As it ran at an high speed, it started slashing the thin air around it with its sharp, piercing claws. The movement was pretty constant, until it felt a slight disturbance quite a few feet away, when it had to use a bit more power to "slash" the air before it. Garchomp stopped immediately. A few steps more, and it would have been inside the Trick Room. Quickly, without wasting a moment, it started spinning around as a spiral of dirt started to build up. Garchomp used its front claws and whipped the clump of dirt right into the Trick Room, where it filled entirely. From afar, a small blackish silhouette could be seen. Garchomp took a step back and aimed at that figure.

"Garchomp, don't be too reckless! Remember, always thrust yourself towards the silhouette which appears to suck out your life form. Since Litwick is a Ghost, it might try to fool you!" Natsu shouted out, for the last time.

"Grrrrr...." Garchomp bit its teeth, as not to make a fool out of itself.

The Hammerhead once again folded its body as it extended its wings. It flew up to the air, taking a stance. Garchomp's body soon is surrounded by white streaks as it flies towards the shadowy figure rapidly. Sweat started to drip from Natsu's forehead as he began to remember the flashback, once again...

"Durant, use Iron Head!" Sara commanded her Pokemon.

Chandelure was still faster, and managed to land a Shadow Ball right on Durant's head, before it could prepare a Iron Head. The impact was indeed huge, and it threw Durant right outside the walls of Trick Room.

"Heh, and now you fell for it. Durant, brace yourself and use Iron Head, and knock the Chandelure out of the Trick Room to the other side!" Sarah yelled.

"Wait, I never knew you could actually do that. Can you?" Haru was puzzled.

"Trick Room grants superior speed to the slowest Pokemon, yes, but that only applies as long as it's inside it. Bring it out, and they're dead slow as they were before." Sarah smiled.

Durant's body became surrounded by a glowing white aura, making it seem black and white, as it lunges itself at the Chandelure. Durant was faster on the outside of Trick Room, and even from the inside, while the Chandelure tried to fire a couple of Shadow Balls, once they were out of the Trick Room, they were all easily dodged by Durant. The steel ant threw itself, and gave a good slam to its opponent, knocking it out of the Trick Room.

Never give up even if you're cornered, because there's always light, at the end of every tunnel." Sara said, as she smiled at Haru.

Scene shifts back to current time.

Who'd have ever thought I'd actually be following your advice Sara? Heh, hopefully this advice of yours aren't just for show. Please make it happen, Garchomp. I'm betting it all on you now...

Natsu held his breath, as he watched Garchomp fly into the sanctuary of the Litwick at a blinding speed, and he yelled out to it once again.

"Garchomp, as you knock Litwick out of Trick Room, position yourself as such and redirect this Park Ball I throw to you towards it using your tail! Let's make friends with Litwick!" Natsu cried, as he flung a Hyper Ball towards Garchomp.

The timing must be right. They must be executed perfectly. Garchomp must knock the candle Pokemon out of Trick Room, then redirect the Hyper Ball Natsu's throwing towards the weakened Litwick. Could the star Pokemon manage it all? Only time could tell...

Garchomp, here's what you'll do. Get as close as you can to the enclosed field where the Trick Room lies. I'm pretty sure that Litwick is still inside there, but it's not visible to our eyes...yet." Natsu assured Garchomp. That much was obvious. You could still feel the presence of Litwick inside the Trick Room.

"Gar!" Garchomp nodded its head.

"Once you've taken your position, whip up a sand attack and direct the dusty air inside the confined space. It should reveal you a small silhouette of Litwick, but just for a few seconds before it settles down. Use this opportunity and use Aerial Ace, from outside the Trick Room. Tackle the Litwick and knock it out of the Trick Room's premises. It only holds superior speed only if it's inside the Trick Room. Aerial Ace gives you the better lead as the move never misses." Natsu replied. This plan was actually interesting. This was one time where I wished he kept talking. The idea of this seemed like it would work perfectly. I was definitely going to have to use this if I ever was put in this situation.

"Garchomp, don't be too reckless! Remember, always thrust yourself towards the silhouette which appears to suck out your life form. Since Litwick is a Ghost, it might try to fool you!" Natsu shouted out. His Garchomp just growled. "Garchomp, as you knock Litwick out of Trick Room, position yourself as such and redirect this Park Ball I throw to you towards it using your tail! Let's make friends with Litwick!" Natsu cried, as he flung a Hyper Ball towards Garchomp.

Garchomp slammed into the outlined Litwick, sending it flying back a little. Litwick, however, was not out. As it went flying back, it spat small firey Shadow Balls at Garchomp. The balls were no bigger than a baseball so it didn't do much damage to Garchomp. At least that's the way it seemed. They Hyperball Natsu threw was entirely off. That guy couldn't throw for shit, but his Garchomp noticed knew that and moved towards the ball several feet away. Garchomp then used his tail to hit the ball towards the Litwick. Litwick was immediately sucked in the ball. The sphere only shook five times before coming to a rest.

"Congrats!" I cried out happily. "You caught it, this will make a fine addition to my... I mean your team. As you already know I'll hold onto this until you leave. Let me know when we can move on."

The chain of events that were clogging up Natsu's head were fast and over with in seconds. He'd have never thought that things would actually go like he planned. He was surprised, and happy. The Ranger seemed really pleased with his actions as well. Garchomp on the other hand, didn't even break a sweat. Although it got shelled by those baseball sized shadow balls from Litwick, it didn't seem to have damaged Garchomp severely.

It didn't even break a sweat. When the whole battle was over, Trick Room eventually wore off all thanks to Litwick's capture. Garchomp stood back up, and shook off any dust that were covered all over itself. The battle was quick, but Garchomp was dominant and experienced than its opponent was. It still showed how sharp it's battling skills were, even if Garchomp hasn't been in the battlefield for a very long time.

"GARRRRRRRR" Garchomp let off a huge roar, as proof of his victory. As soon as it did that, he quickly yawned afterwards. This wasn't really much of a battle he expected. But more dangerous foes await deep within Mt.Deckbi.

"Congrats!" Ranger Cameron cried out happily. "You caught it, this will make a fine addition to my... I mean your team. As you already know I'll hold onto this until you leave. Let me know when we can move on."

"Ah, thank you Ranger. I hope I haven't wasted too much of your time here! Yes, I fully understand of the customs of you Rangers" Natsu replied, with a more gratified feeling he commonly had towards the Rangers, he was after all, the Co Head Ranger.

"Hey buddy! Get over here. We're continuing with our Expedition. Don't you want to meet tougher opponents?" Natsu slightly taunted Garchomp.

"Gar! Gar!" Garchomp replied, as it slowly walked towards Natsu and Ranger Cameron.

"Let's move on Ranger. I wonder what's in store for us next?"...

Natsu and Garchomp waited for the Ranger's next move.

"Hey buddy! Get over here. We're continuing with our Expedition. Don't you want to meet tougher opponents?" Natsu said to his Garchomp.

"Gar! Gar!" His Garchomp replied.

"Let's move on Ranger. I wonder what's in store for us next?" Sam said. I nodded. I guess we can go around the mountain, not sure what we'll find there. Hopefully we will encounter something you want. If not then..., well, I don't know." I shrugged. "Let's just keep moving." I couldn't think of anything else to say and I had a feeling he wasn't going to encounter anything he wanted.

We moved down the trail towards the mountain. I saw two paths, on that lead into the mountain, and one that led around it. I was going to ask my Trainer where he wanted to go, but I figured I'd just lead us somewhere. I took the path that led around the mountain, mainly because it was insanely hot inside the volcano and I didn't want to get all sweaty, at least not from this.

We started on the path that weaved around the mountain, but we didn't get far before a large Pig Pokemon jumped from higher up the mountain and down towards is.

Natsu stopped in his steps, as Cameron was about to finish his sentence, he quickly looked away, and rested his visions atop Mt.Deckbi. He seemed as if holding something back, but Natsu couldn't figure out what it was.

"Let's just keep moving." Cameron threw his final words.

"Yes, Ranger, we shall" Natsu replied.

The three started walking down the mountain trail. It took a while, but after a few minutes of mobile, eventually came an obvious path that weaved around the mountain. It wasn't long before they actually ventured about this path, and Garchomp started picking up a weird scent.

"Garrrr!"

Garchomp snarled as a large pig-like Pokemon raced down the from the Mountains, and towards us.

"You want to battle this Pokemon?" Cameron asked.

"Battling isn't everything, Haru. As Pokemon Rangers, we also uphold the duty to protect the habitat of wild Pokemon. If we ourselves jeopardize their home, who is to clean up our mess?"

"No Ranger, I'd rather take a picture of that Pokemon. Hah, good timing though, it's running towards us. That's such a perfect pose!" Natsu replied, as he searched his bag for a Camera.

"Hmm, this should do it!"

Natsu took out his prized Camera, as he stood in position. The wild Emboar raced towards him, lighting his left fist with flames; suggesting a Fire punch. But our photographer was faster!

"Jink! Jink! Jink!"

The overgrown pig's picture was captured! The flashes that came out from the Camera seemed to have paralyzed the Emboar, as it stood its ground for a while.

"Hey Ranger, this picture look good?" Natsu asked Cameron, handing over the picture.

"No Ranger, I'd rather take a picture of that Pokemon. Hah, good timing though, it's running towards us. That's such a perfect pose!" Natsu replied, as he searched his bag for a Camera. "Hmm, this should do it!" This Trainer was definitely some kind of weird, but he was still cool, and he was good at taking pictures. I saw the picture he handed me of the Emboar running towards us, it looked pretty amazing. I handed him back the photo and searched the area. Emboar just ran past us, more than likely didn't care to stop and battle him.

I looked back at the place where Emboar had come running from. Standing there was a Typhlosion. It roared loudly as the flames on its back blazed up. The fire on its back had to at least be three feet. It was incredible. I wiped the sweat off of my forehead and turned to my Trainer.

"Want to capture that Typhlosion?" I asked. I didn't actually mean in a Pokeball, I figured Natsu would want another picture. It would after all be a picture.

Natsu was satisfied when he saw the Ranger smile at the picture he's taken. He could tell he's done a pretty good job, after all, Natsu was a photographer before he enrolled in the park as a Ranger. However complicated things seemed, Emboar pretty much didn't up up a fight and ran past us. Cameron handed over the picture back to Natsu again, just for safe keeping, for now. Soon, the Ranger looked over at the location where Emboar came running from. Another foe showed up.

Standing there was a Typhlosion. It roared loudly as the flames on its back blazed up. The fire on its back had to at least be three feet. It was incredible. Cameron wiped the sweat off of his forehead and turned to my me.


"Heh, they sure come uninvited, eh?" Natsu smirked.

"Want to capture that Typhlosion?" the Ranger asked.

Natsu didn't give a proper reply, as he went into the photo taking stance. The Ranger understood he's going to take a picture again, just like before. He wasn't clearly interested in the Pokemon that appeared after Litwick, obviously. But what is he interested in then? Even the Ranger could hardly tell.

JINK JINK JINK

Natsu consumed a bit more time this round, as he captured rare moments of Typhlosion into his Camera. The first picture would surprisingly be the best, since it shows it spewing out fire from its mouth as it roars through Mt.Deckbi, particularly at Natsu and the Ranger, signaling its presence. The other two pictures he captured was merely seconds after the first one, where Typhlosion just gave the same stance, and gave a frightening glare.

"Well Ranger, here are more pictures for you. You can pick whatever you like!" Natsu said, as he handed over the three pictures, giving options for the Ranger to choose from them.

"Well Ranger, here are more pictures for you. You can pick whatever you like!" Natsu said, as he handed me the three pictures. I looked at them and picked the first one since it looked the best. I handed him back the other photos and placed the one he gave me in my pocket.

"Let's continue up, maybe we'll find something better." I said. I wasn't quite positive that we'd find anything that he would find interesting, but I just kept pushing on hoping that we'd find something he'd want. I looked up and saw a bit of smoke coming from above the volcano. That was usually normal, but it appeared to be a bit more than usual. Then I felt a small rumble in the ground, which lead me to believe something was going down with this volcano. I just hoped it wasn't ready to erupt. The Ranger Scientisnts would have let us know if that was happening.

"Wanna go check out what's going on up there?" I asked Natsu. "Or would you rather keep goin around the mountain." As I said that, greenish brown Pokémon with long, gray and red-tipped tusks coming out of the sides of its mouth. It's large, powerful tail swung back and forth as he watched and waited for Natsu to come at him.

"A Fraxure? Heh. I don't have the time for this. HEY RANGER. DUCK!" Natsu shouted, as he flung some sort of item towards Fraxure.

"A Fraxure? Heh. I don't have the time for this. HEY RANGER. DUCK!" Natsu shouted, as he flung a small pink doll. The thing almost hit me, it was certain this Trainer couldn't throw for crap, wasn't that hard to throw the doll over me instead of at me. Fraxure caught the doll in his mouth and ripped it to shreads, then he just stormed off. It was appearent that he wanted to battle. Guess he was just going to have to find a battle elsewhere.

Since the Trainer didn't say where he wanted to go, I continued to led us up the mountain. Halfway up a small Rock-type Pokémon jumped in between Natsu and me. Its rocky, blue-and-brown body had a reddish glow to it. It was obvious that it had been playing in the volcano. I didn't think Natsu would go for it, but I asked anyways. "Want to battle this little guy?"

Fraxure caught the doll in his mouth and ripped it to shreads, then he just stormed off. It was appearent that he wanted to battle. Guess he was just going to have to find a battle elsewhere.

Natsu was busy ducking, that he didn't mention to Cameron about the path he would have wanted to pursue. However, Cameron seemed like he could read Natsu's mind. He somehow led the team to the mountain path. While venturing up the dusty path, Natsu received a call. It was from one of his secretaries, so Natsu began to walk slowly, having the Ranger walk faster than him, so that he could not hear the conversation.
"Hello, Haru sama?" a faint voice called out.

"Ah, yes. Nanao-chan. What can I do for you? Oh, and I'm with my Ranger now, so please do address me with the fake name. My Ranger's senses are pretty sharp. He might be truly aware who I am." Natsu replied.

“..Oh, alright. I’ve received reports about the Pokemon you were looking for.” Nanao responded.

“Splendid. So where is it exactly?” Natsu asked.

“Well, there have been some temperature fluctuations deep inside the mountains, from what the reports are saying. So there’s a 90% chance of you encountering it there. However, there is no way you can just enter the mountains. The mountain’s scorching hot!” Nanao answered.

“..Hah, not to worry, Nanao-chan. I’ll try to find some other way inside. I...have to meet that Pokemon. Just once, and that would be enough. OH, and did you know, I captured a Litwick!” Natsu laughed through his cell phone.

“..WHAT?! Aren’t they supposed to be rare down there? You must be really lucky, Haru-sama” Nanao quietly reacted.

The conversation carried on for a while, until halfway up, a small Rock-type Pokémon jumped in between Natsu and Ranger Cameron. Its rocky, blue-and-brown body had a reddish glow to it. It was obvious that it had been playing in the volcano.

“Sorry Nanao-chan. We’ve got company now. I’ve gotta go..” Haru replied, abruptly ending the call.

Just as impeccable the timing seemed, Cameron turned around and asked Natsu.

"Want to battle this little guy?"

“Hah. You bet, Ranger! Garchomp, come forth!!” Natsu called out to Garchomp.

“GARRRRRR” the hammerhead roared.

It quickly ran forward, slicing the thin air around it with its huge claws, and stood in front of Natsu.

“Hmm, before we do anything fool hardy; let’s read up on that Pokémon now, shall we?” Natsu replied, as he pulled out his Pokédex and pointed the receiver towards the small rock-like critter.

Roggenrola, the Mantle Pokémon. Its ear is hexagonal in shape. Inside each one’s body, it houses an energy core. Due to being compressed underground, its body is harder than iron. Roggenrola were also known to have been discovered in fissures 100 years ago.

“Ah, another ancient like Pokémon I see. You will be fine addition to my team. Alright, since you’re a sole Rock Type Pokemon, Garchomp, let’s start things off with a simple Earthquake! Don’t use too much of your power though, but still, that should shake that little fellow up. Then, dive in for a simple Dragon Claw and send him flying into the air! He will be truly vulnerable in the air, where you on the other hand, have an absolute advantage!” Natsu said.

“Gar..” Garchomp snarled. It had its health drained a little in the previous battle, but it stood tall still.

Garchomp folded its arms and quickly jumped high into the air. Wasting not a moment, it quickly landed hard, making white shockwaves come out of the ground and directing it right at the opponent. The whole battle ground shook violently. The star Pokemon quickly took aim at Roggenrola with its fierce, cold eyes.

“Chomppppppp!!!!” Garchomp roared.

His hand claws glowed light green as it dashed towards the little rocky. Dragon Claw is frequently used by Garchomp the most, apart from some other moves it has, and since it’s a Dragon Type move, matching the type of the Dragon itself, the damage it grounds could be pretty fatal as it provides STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus). However, it knew Natsu wanted Roggenrola in his team, so it didn’t put too much power in its moves.

Natsu stood there, and waited. Could Roggenrola have something up its sleeves to thwart the incoming barrage of attacks?

“Hah. You bet, Ranger! Garchomp, come forth!!” Sam said. Once again sending out his companion, Garchomp.

"It's Ranger Leo damnit!" I mumbled.

Like before, Sam pulled out his Pokedex and scanned the small Mantle Pokemon. The Rock-type Pokémon with a rocky, blue-and-brown body jumped up and down anxiously as it waited for a response from Sam. The yellow hexagonal artifice in the center of its body began to flash white several times. I wasn't sure what that meant. Perhaps it was a move it was beginning to use, whatever it was, I knew we had to be careful.

The plan didn't sound like it would work, but him and his Garchomp worked well together when they battled Litwick, so I just watched to see how this little stunt would fall out. Garchomp jumped up maybe five feet, then slammed into the ground, sending small seismic waves towards the Roggenrola. The small acron looking Pokemon began glowing a silver color. I knew what that move was, Iron Defense. As if his body wasn't already hard, I could just imagine now how much harder it was going to be.

The waves from Earthquake caught up with Roggenrola and it did a bit of damage to it. Roggenrola got knocked off its feet. As it got back up, I noticed in its mouth was a metallic gold orb of energy. Roggenrola then fired the orb at Garchomp. The ball of golden struck Garchomp in the chest, knocking it to the ground. However, the Mach Pokemon refused to stay down. He quickly got back up and charged towards the Roggenrola, slashing his purple glowing claw at it, sending the small rock flying in the air.

"It's Ranger Leo damnit!" the Ranger mumbled.

Natsu heard it loud and clear, though it was just meant to be a little murmur. But of course, most of his senses were sharpened now. During every battle, Natsu tends to get thoughtful, no matter how big or small his opponent appears to be. True strength, comes from deep within, and Natsu gives priority to this above all. After all, his Garchomp was defied a bit from the petite Litwick he encountered earlier. However, even before his mind could drift off a bit, Natsu sent a slight nudge to his head and reminded himself;

“…Focus Natsu! Your Pokémon is out there fighting for you!”

Ranger Leo might have thought the Trainer was acting up all weird again, but something gave him a slight sense of satisfaction. Natsu was a trainer after all, and seeing him all prepped up in the battle field might have thrilled him a bit, though he didn’t exhibition it amenably. The move Natsu strategized and executed didn’t seem like it would work successfully, but Leo wasn’t put out by that. The fact that the duo pulled through a somewhat of a sticky situation earlier made him to rethink.

They’ll pull off this one as well, was his expression, which gave Natsu the motivation he needed. Natsu’s senses swiftly returned to his star Pokemon, as it soared up the air about five feet. It then crashed into the dusty ground, not that hard, but was enough to send small seismic waves towards the indiscreet Roggenrola. It did damage to it of course, but it got back up quite fast thanks to the move it used, Iron Defense. Roggenrola was already sturdy as it could be, but still had the nerve to pull off a move just like that. However, it was a very wise choice, knowing that it didn’t have that much time to retaliate, fortifying up was the only option. Guess Natu’s predictions were true. It had quite the enduring stance, and didn’t give up just because it was knocked down once. Considering how colossal its foe was, the feisty rock Pokémon was all prepared to fight.

“Heh, that’s what I’d look forward in all my Partners, Roggenrola. I really like you. Why don’t you join us?” Natsu chuckled.

“Gar…” Garchomp sneered.

But of course, things wouldn’t go simply just as Natsu premeditated. As it got back up, I noticed in its mouth was a metallic gold orb of energy. The Ranger was aware of it too of course, but just wasn’t as loquacious. Roggenrola then fired the orb at Garchomp. Pretty much to everyone’s surprise, Garchomp just stood there. The ball of golden struck Garchomp in the chest, knocking it to the ground. However, the Mach Pokemon snubbed to stay down. Gauging the opponent’s strength, it knew where Roggenrola stood. It still wasn’t the tough opponent Garchomp looked for. It grew more power hungry. He quickly got back up and charged towards the Roggenrola, slashing his purple glowing claw at it, sending the small rock flying in the air.

“That’s right. Fly like a G6!” Natsu shouted.

“Gar..Chomp??” Garchomp awaited more orders.

“Oh, yes. Garchomp, I know our opponent has gotten his skin rougher, but that doesn’t mean our moves can’t do damage. While it’s still up in the air, hit it with an Aerial Ace. It might try something fishy while you’re closing in for a move, but Aerial Ace would be too fast to avoid. After you trickle him with that minuscule attack, just from above him, fire a strong Dragon Pulse and send him crashing to the grounds! Don’t knock him out! Though, I’d love to see his fighting spirit if he pulls through all of this and still has the guts to stand up!” Natsu commanded, like a pro.

Garchomp took a few steps backwards and folded its body. It quickly flew towards the floating Roggenrola, preparing to stumble it a bit with Aerial Ace, then hitting it hard with a Dragon Pulse. Dragon Pulse was a special attack based move. Even with its defences raised, this attack would hit pretty hard, if ALL GOES WELL, that is.

Natsu grid his teeth, and waited…

I just wanted him to hurry up and catch the little guy because the heat from the volcano was really getting hotter. I had to watch out and make sure nothing happened.

“That’s right. Fly like a G6!” Natsu shouted as his Garchomp soared towards Roggenrola.

Garchomp's body began glowing a bright white as it moved towards Roggenrola at an incredibly fast speed. He slammed right into the small Mantle Pokemon. The attack itself didn't appear to do much damage. It was a good thing Natsu ordered another attack. I looked over to the Rock Pokemon and heard it making strange metal grinding noises. I knew what it was using, Autotomize. He was trying to make himself faster.

Garchomp launched small pulses of yellow energy towards Roggenrola. The Dragon Pulse was small, but it looked like it would do some damage. Roggenrola, now powered with speed, dodged the imcoming attack and headbutted straight into Garchomp's chest. The Mach Pokemon slid back a couple of feet, but still appeared to be unharmed. He also had rough skin.

OOC : I hate 'throw the ball to capture' only post. FRIGGING SHORT.

The Dragon Pulse that came out was not as robust as Natsu prophesied it to be, after all, he asked Garchomp to limit its own power and strength. The Star Pokémon itself wouldn’t be fighting to its fullest potential until it saw a worthy adversary. Roggenrola was a pretty good fighter, having moves like Autotomize in its move pool. However, that wasn’t enough to put down a mighty gargantuan like Garchomp. Speed gave it an upper hand, but at the cost of taking Dragon Pulse to its face, a little. The little rock moved at an incredible speed and slammed right into Garchomp. Headbutt, was its move. Good thing Garchomp was a part Ground Pokémon, which made its skin look even coarser. Taking the Headbutt to the chest, he slid back a couple of feet, but wasn’t harmed fatally.

“Gar…” Garchomp sighed.

“Hmm, I know how you feel Garchomp. You don’t want to fight our friend any longer, do you? Alright, it is about time we put an end to this. Roggenrola, I’m Natsu and that’s Garchomp. I’ll like to have you on my Pokémon Team!” Natsu smiled, as he threw a Hyperball towards the unwary Roggenrola.
