@MuddyMudkip; Wee post. Sorry it took a bit. Got bogged down with painting and then class started up.

    NBP#5

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

“We're gonna get you outta there, Abby,” Elisa called. She didn't look nearly as confident as she sounded, though, if the grimace on her face was any indication. Ivy didn't blame her—Ivy would be worried about her own partners as well.

The Trainer thought furiously for a moment, because a moment was all she had. The Seed Bomb attack was arching back down, and the energy would explode as soon as it hit the ground, which would be soon. With the Ambipom pinned like she was, she would be an easy target.

“Abby,” Elisa called, her tone uncertain. “Can you try to sort of wiggle your way out of there? Just try to loosen your limbs a little... And then, try to slice up those vines with some Fury Swipes, alright?”

Being wrapped up in the grass so tight, there were fewer options they could take. Abby went right to work, though, even as Elisa still spoke. The monkey wiggled and twisted and jerked as she tried to find some give in the green ropes that tied her down. She made sounds of exertion as she hurried.

Elisa tried to encourage her by telling her to think of it as a game. After all, she only wanted the Pokemon to escape, not try to attack the Petilil or anything else. The wild Grass-type was looking on her work seriously, although she wasn't moving around very much. Ivy could tell that the bulb was pretty tired. Luckily, the other woman noticed this too, and Ivy saw her take out a Park Ball to attempt a capture soon.

A snapping sound drew the Ranger's attention back to the monkey, where she noticed Abby had been chewing on one of the vines. It had broken, freeing up space on her chest. In doing so, one of her limbs was free, and she went to work on furiously slashing the plants off of her.

The main part of the Seed Bomb started to rain down just as Abby was almost free. Dirt and grass exploded into the air as it struck a few feet in front of the monkey, getting closer with each second. Finally, the purple Ambipom broke free, but in trying to back up, she tripped over one of the roots on the ground. She fell down, and the Grass-attack rained down on her, but just in time she managed to scramble up and away from the blast zone.

She looked a little singed, like a little bit of the attack had clipped her, but it wasn't anything major. It could've definitely been worse. Ivy sighed in relief. She didn't like seeing any Pokemon get hurt, but she thought the Trainers' were worse, since there was a double the emotion.

With Abby safe, Elisa threw the Park Ball at the tired plant. The Petilil was too fixed on her flashy attack, so she didn't see the capture device until it was much too late. At the last second, she turned her head and squealed, but the ball easily tapped her and activated. The Grass-type was sucked up in a beam of red light, and the device fell to the ground with a soft shake. It wasn't long until the center lit up.

A layer of dust had kicked up because of the attack, and Ivy coughed a little as she waved it away from her face. She made her way to the captured wild Pokemon and added it to her pocket as the dirt cloud settled, taking a look at the surrounding area.

“Wow, for being small, that Petilil sure mucked up the place a bit. Hey, Haji, think you can do something about this?” Ivy asked, seeing the uneven ground churned up from the battle. There were dirt patches were grass had been completely ripped away, and in some places there were craters.

The Espeon nodded, and his eyes started to glow as Ivy felt his energy spike. Like Petilil, he could also control roots and some plants with his abilities, and she had no doubts that he could fix this up if they gave him some time. It would save a crew—or more likely, just her—coming out with shovels and things to fix it up later.

“While he's doing that, do you want to take a rest, Elisa? That was definitely some battle.”
