"Leo, you want another run?" Crystal, the brunette behind the main desk asked after seeing my just walk into the building.

"No, I just got in." I grumbled. "Get Buzz to do it after he's done in the kitchen."

"He's out on a run." She said.

"Winter? Chain? Gman?" I asked.

"All gone." She responded, "As a matter a fact, you're the only ranger in this building at the moment, everyone left before I even got a chance to ask."

"Bastards." I whispered quietly.

"There might be something waiting for you when you get back." She said, winking at me. "I'll be waiting in your office." We got new secretaries very often, I could never understand why, but they kept getting replaced.

"Well, then I guess I can take this." I grinned. "Also make sure I get paid double for this as well." I grabbed my gear and the folder and headed out of the office. I looked over to the large tree that Shadow liked to lay down under. He had just put his head down and closed his eyes. As soon as he noticed me coming he took off running, he knew what I was coming for.

"Wait up, I got something for you." I called out. He stopped running and eyed my suspiciously. "Just come with me once more today. This Trainer seems like a weirdo and I don't want to go alone." Shadow slumped to the ground and whimpered. Before he could argue any more. Mindbender appeared before us and quickly teleported us to Mt. Deckbi. Shadow just glared at me, not saying a word.

"So, we'll wait for this... Kiryu guy." I said, taking a look at his file. Seemed like a bitch kind of person, but I shrugged it off. Shadow would take care of him if he tried anything.

Mt. Deckbi. The hottest place in the National Park. Why I want to come here? I have no damn clue but it had Pokemon I haven't seen yet so no harming in checking the place out. I made sure to dress a bit lighter this time, wore a smaller bag, and made sure I brought sunglasses just in case. I decided to forget the sunscreen since that wouldn't protect me from lava in case I fell in. Walking up to the gate that lead to Deckbi, Hei appeared in a bright flash of light. He really hated being in his Pokeball.

"Can you seriously not stay in your ball?"

"Grah." he responded curtly, snubbing his nose at me.

I just shook my head and sighed. It was a fire type area and considering Hei was a fire type, why not. I slung my bag across my back and made sure I had everything I needed, including a the PokePlayer. I kept the CD's in their respective cases and turned to Hei. He just kept a stern face went on ahead as I followed, already feeling the heat. I waited at the gate and pulled out the Pokeplayer. To be completely honest, I had no clue how all this stuff fit into the bag but hey I wasn't complaining.

"So where's this ranger?"

I saw him on the other said of the post and I looked at him. He seemed familiar but hey not my concern. I walked up and I smirked. "You're the ranger?"

I looked down at my watch. I had already been waiting for fifteen minutes for this guy to show up. I groaned and looked around the area hoping to see him, but nothing.

"Damnit, if he's not here in five minutes we're out of here." I said happily to Shadow. Shadow wasn't too thrilled about being here either, especially since I told him he could spend the rest of the day relaxing. The hellhound just continued glaring at me. He looked angry, yet happy that there was a chance that the Trainer didn't show up and we'd leave. It was a weird expression that he had on.

I turned away from Shadow and scanned the area again. This time I saw a teenage boy, about eighteen through twenty years of age coming our way. I quickly went from happy to mad. I was hoping he wouldn't show up for another six minutes, because I would have been gone in five. He had on a light blue jacket with a black undershirt, black jeans which seemed incrediby stupid since we were going to the hottest place on the island and black absored heat. I could only imagine how hot he'd get here. I had a feeling he'd pass out or something. At least he had a hat on, even if it was stupid looking. It was a red hat with a black pokeball symbol on it.

"You're the ranger?" He asked.

"No shit, I'm the only one here right?" I said sarcastically. I wanted to see how fast I could annoy this guy before he did something. I saw that he had a small Houndour with him, but it didn't look more than a month old. "Let's get going, I don't have all day. You had to pick the hottest place in the park, and you're not even dressed for it." I turned to go through the gate, but before I could, a small Bronzor floated towards us.

"Well, do you want this little guy?" I asked, "or can we move on?

I eyed the ranger a bit harshly. What a douche was my first words to come to mind but I decided to let him off easily. If I was going to get stuck with him then I might as well make it pretty damn hard on him. I looked at the ranger and gave him a smirk. Taking off my jacket and shoving it into my bag, leaving me with a black t shirt. It would keep me cool enough throughout the entire trip so not much worry there.

"I was hoping for someone with less attitude but if I can get through her without a fuss, so be it." I said yawning, the heat getting me slightly drowsy.

Hei growled but then turned it's head to the floating metal shield. It weaved around and spun a bit, seeming like it wanted the challenge. I really did not have any interest in steel types at the moment but the Bronzor looked desperate so I couldn't refuse it. I smiled and cracked my neck and got ready to fight.

"Well, do you want this little guy?" Leo asked, "or can we move on?

"Yeah I'll take it."

Bronzor had two abilities, Heatproof and Levitate. This one could have either so it was important to stay on the ball. Hei seemed to have a particular interest in the Steel type, considering he was the more dominant type as his Dark attributes cancelled out Bronzor's Psychic. Still wasn't a cause to get cocky. I thought for a bit and came up with a decent strategy, hopefully.

"Alright Hei, get behind it with Faint Attack and release a Flamethrower attack but remember not to knock it out!!"

Hei expertly obeyed my command and dashed after the Bronzor, switching from the left to the right as a black blur. It stayed in middle for a split second and disappeared once again, skidding to a halt behind the floating shield.It jumped into the air and got into a pouncing position.

"Now execute the rest!"

Houndour's mouth leaked flames before releasing a red-orange stream of fire from its mouth, hitting the back of the Bronzor in the back and slammed it into the ground. It was the first time he had a wild battle and he was going to take full advantage of it. The wind whipped up quickly and brought a dust cloud dancing about the field. I thought and wondered how I was going to follow up with this attack but it wasn't going to be easy. Then I remembered another move that would help things greatly.

"Use Howl and prepare to attack again!"

The Houndour's eyes glowed a pitch black and it raised its head to the sky, releasing a ear splitting Howl that generated a high decibel count.

"Yeah I'll take it. Alright Hei, get behind it with Faint Attack and release a Flamethrower attack but remember not to knock it out!!" He called out.

"Wow," I whispered, "He doesn't know how to battle." This Bronzor wasn't going to go down easily. The little Houndour disappeared. Bronzor knew what was coming and began glowing a dark green color. It quickly went from green to a metallic silver. Houndour appeared behind the Bronzor and slammed his body into Bronzor, who didn't seem to fazed by it.

Bronzor began giving off a purple glow as it quickly rammed into Houndour. The attack seemed powered since Bronzor took damage. Houndour was knocked back a little, but took this as his oppertunity to use Flamethrower. The stream of flames barely hit Bronzor.

Bronzor moved back. It appeared to be waiting for Houndour to make its move. I just watched, wondering what this nub of a trainer would do next.

"Perfect." I groaned in sarcasm. "That had to have been Iron Defense."

The Flamethrower had still did some damage and could still do Howl/Fire Fang combination didn't seem possible for now so instead I would stick to what I learned by an old friend:Kill it with fire. The Houndour charged up its Flamethrower again, this time the flames leaking out at a higher rate. Maybe if I can get Hei to up the power one stage, maybe he could move this along faster. It was all up to chance but it seemed that Bronzor had the Heatproof ability so this would make things easier.

"Alright keep it up with a Flamethrower once more, but give it a bit more kick!" I said as Hei as it snarled and sent a blast of fire towards the Bronzor, enveloping it in a fiery tornado of fire. I watched as it surged and lashed around in the burning cylinder, seeing its eyes full of fight even though it was trapped. I wouldn't be surprised if Bronzor attacked them right now but absolutely no worries at all. I was ready and so was Hei. Time to bring the pain!

"Perfect." he groaned, in a sarcastic tone. I couldn't help but to laugh at his expense. "That had to have been Iron Defense."

"Alright keep it up with a Flamethrower once more, but give it a bit more kick!" He said as his Houndour snarled and sent a blast of fire towards the Bronzor.

The Flamethrower, unlike last time, totally engulfed the small Steel Pokemon. I could hear a metal screeching sound from within the flames. I could see Bronzor begin to spin in the fire. As he spun faster, the flames began to subside. When the flames had pretty much were extinguished, Bronzor pushed itself off the ground with its Pyschic powers, and slammed hard into Houndour.

The small hellhound cried out in pain, but it was appearent that he still had more energy than the Bronzor. Bronzor knew this and began glowing blue and purple as it powered up its special attack and defense.

"Shit I really don't want to know what that attack was. But maybe.. Hei use Fire Fang!"

The puppy bounded towards the shield looking Pokemon, snarling madly minus any frothing at the mouth. It hopped nimbly, using the rocks on the terrain as launched itself at the Bronzor and opened its maw, revealing in two sharp canine teeth. His mouth opened up wider and soon it exploded in a fiery inferno as it came with in close proximity and bit down hard, creating a small explosion sending Bronzor hitting the ground and Hei landing on its feet, stumbling a bit but who was worried. It wasn't a contest after all. Hei huffed and puffed a bit, reaching the halfway point soon. He would be able to go on but I didn't want it to over extend itself.

"Think you could do another Fire Fang?" I asked as it turned to me and gave a solemn nod as it charged again and pounced once more, its fangs elongating in to actual flaming fangs that increased in size about five inches. The fang slammed into the Bronzor again, giving it a bit more spark to it, igniting another explosion. The Houndour slide back and smiled, breathing out a bit of smoke from its nostril and looking back with quite the evil gaze. The sun was peaking out from behind the volcano so it was about to get a bit hotter.

"Geez this is going to be a pain." I muttered as I glared back at the Bronzor, steadily getting up.

"Shit I really don't want to know what that attack was. But maybe.. Hei use Fire Fang!" It wasn't a surprise that this nubby Trainer didn't know what move that was since it is hardly used, but he could have looked it up in his Pokedex. It would be smart of him to start learning Bronzor's moves if he was planning on capturing it.

"Think you could do another Fire Fang?" He asked. The small Houndour turned to him and gave a slight nod as it took off towards the Steel Pokemon. I could see his fangs begin to enlarge as his mouth began surrounded in flames. The little wolf Pokemon bit down hard on Bronzor and the Mirror Pokemon cried in pain.

Bronzor shook the Houndour violently, sending him flying back a few feet. Houndour, however, landed on his feet. Bronzor expected this and sent out a beam of electricity. A few seconds after Charge Beam hit Houndour, I saw the Bronzor quickly flash green. I knew it was the effect of Charge Beam, raising his Special Attack even more. Houndour may have the type advantage in this match, but Bronzor definitely had the power.

Charge Beam. How I hated that move. I watched the Bronzor glow a bit and then stop. Looks like the special effect had kicked in. I wondered what else this thing had in store for us. But then I had an idea that may or may not work so I had to give it a shot. Turning to Hei, we both nodded at each other and knew the game plan. I reached into my bag and pulled out a small canister with a hairpin release. It read ‘Soothing Max Fragrance' on the side in small black font.

“This should do something at least." I thought as tossed it at the mirror type thing and watched the green like gas sprayed wildly around around it, hoping to calm it down slightly.

Turning to Hei there wasn't much I could do so I thought for a few seconds and pulled out a Super Ball and had it expand to normal size. I could see that it's health was low and checking my Xtranceiver, Hei wasn't doing so much better so it was vital that I should end it now. I pulled back slightly and and threw the Super Ball at an angle into the air. It arced slightly as it hit the Bronzor hard, not that it mattered to a Steel Type.

"Jackpot."

I watched the ball soar through the air. Honestly, I didn't think he had a chance in capturing Bronzor. Bronzor still looked like it was up for a fight. The ball hit the Steel Pokemon on its left side. A dark red light shot out and sucked in Bronzor. The ball fell to the ground with a thud, shaking back and forth several times. Moments later, the ball stopped shaking and remained motionless on the ground.

I watched a the Pokeball sucked up the Bronzor and drop to the dusty ground. After quite a bit of shaking, the ball stopped and an audible click was heard. I sighed and smiled as the ranger went over and picked the ball up, wondering which way I wanted to go. Thinking hard about it, I decided on what would be easier. I turned to him while a fiddle around in my backpack.

"Eh lets go around the mountain, we'll probably see more of a variety that way." I said as my eye opened up and I smirked.

Pulling out another canister, same design as the fragrance but it was a cream color. The Rock repellant. I flipped the tab and sprayed myself with the repellant and stretched a bit, letting the scent get in my clothes. After I was fully using the repellant, I turned to Hei and saw that he was alright to go so I nodded at the ranger and told him I was ready.

“Oh yeah! I have something I can use here."

The device was strange but I figured out how to load the CD into it after a a quick tampering. The CD was a light purple shade with a small candle lon the side. It was his Litwick disk that played out the natural cry of a Litwick.

"Eh lets go around the mountain, we'll probably see more of a variety that way." He said in a gay voice. He pulled out a repellant, spraying it on his clothes.

"You smell pretty." I grinned. I didn't know what he was looking for, but I knew it wasn't anything Rock typed. That wasn't the end of it though. He pulled out a Pokeplayer.

“Oh yeah! I have something I can use here." He said, playing the disk. We waited for a while, but nothing appeared to be coming out way. I shrugged.

"Let's move on." I said, moving towards the mountain. I definitely wasn't planning on going inside, so if it came to going in, I was going to make up some excuse to why we couldn't. I looked on ahead to see if any Pokemon were coming out way, but nothing. I did. however, see two Volcarona fighting each other up ahead. I turned to tell Kiryu.

"Look!" I said, but when I turned back, they were gone and a Sandshrew was passing on by. "A Sandshrew." I said, looking around to see where the Volcarona went, but they were already out of sight. "Want to fight this little guy?" I asked.

A Sandshrew. I use to see them all the time where I use to live but never caught one. Even now I still don't have the desire to catch one as they were abundant where I lived. I listened to the pokeplayer continue the sound of the Litwick as I turned to the ranger and shook my head. I probably could find one when ever so not much of a hassle. I was looking for something with a bit more rarity.

"Lets just keep moving." I yawned as I saw another branching path heading towards the volcano.

"Lets just keep moving." He yawned. I just shrugged, his loss. The Sandshrew didn't seem to interested in battling anyways since I saw that it was already gone when I turned back around. I just figured it went back to its family. I started walking away when I felt something watching us. I turned back and saw a dark figure burrow underground.

"Hmm," I whispered, "must have been nothing. Let's continue going up towards the mountain." I stopped when I heard a loud roar nearby. It didn't sound like something bad, so I decided we could check it out. We came across an open field where I saw an orange blur coming towards us. I knew what it was, and I had a feeling it wanted to battle.

"ARC!" It barked loudly.

The blur was speeding towards use at a fast pace. The roar was close but non threatening. More like a challenge roar. It hopped and bounded around a bit as it came to a stop so I could see it clearly. It's eyes gave off a slight factor of intimidation. Arcanine was pretty cool but I realized that this battle would be drawn out for quite a while so I reached into my pocket and pulled out 500 pokedollars. I turned to him and asked for a Pokedoll to distract the Arcanine since I couldn't be bothered to go through a long battle.

He didn't say anything. Instead, he reached into his pocket and pulled out some money, requesting to buy a doll. I was about to take it when Arcanine looked at Kiryu and grunted, kicking dirt at his face and walking away. "Guess you don't need that doll." I shrugged. Then, out of the corner, I saw a dark figure again bury itself into the ground. Except this time, it moved towards us. The creature underground circled around us, not yet surfacing.

"Be alert, we got company." I said to Kiryu. When I did a small cherry-nosed blue and grey Pokemon popped its head out of the ground and spat more dirt into Kiryu's face. It giggled then retreated back underground and circled around us some more.

"You want to try battling that?" I asked him. I yawned and moved towards a rock and laid down next to it, closing my eyes. I figured he was going to battle it, so I decided I'd take a nap while he did.

"Be alert, we got company."

I turned my head towards the small cherry-nosed blue and grey Pokemon and smiled. Where had I seen that before. So when in doubt, I went to my Pokedex and it scanned the pokemon before it spat dirt in my face, the classic anime eye twitch can with it. Soon the dex came up with everything on Drilbur from it's height, weight, even sleeping patterns. That did not interest me but what did was the evolutionary form of the pokemon, Excadrill. The next page listed all of it's stats and they were wonderful. A perfect powerhouse for most teams. I wanted it. Sure it's defense could be better but damn it was good. I nodded but had seen that the ranger went and was going to take a nap by a rock.

"Hmm." I mused to myself as I wondered who to use. Samurott would probably knock it if it let loose even the slightest. So maybe...

"Haxorus, I choose you!" I yelled as I threw my pokeball and out in a bright flash of light came a large, yellow dragon-type pokemon with red scythe like tusks coming out of its upper jaw on the side of its mouth. Haxorus was ready to rumble and growled slightly before looking for it's opponent.

"Oi! Crono! See the hole? It's in there! Flush it out with a Dragon Pulse.

Cronorus roared and opened its mouth and fired turquiose ball of energy at the hole, a weak attack since Haxorus's special attack wasn't as high as his normal attack. Also that I told him to only flush it out not nuke it into the sky. Luckily it took the hint and it only forced it out of the ground where I could see it.

"Now use Aerial Ace!" I yelled as Cronorus sped up and streams of white light flashed around it and slammed into the Drill pokemon, knocking it to the ground. I turned to it and smiled, watching the little thing get up as if it was unharmed. It had guts and thats what battling was all about.

"Ready?!" I yelled at it. The Drilbur gave a smile and so did Cronorus.

"Haxorus, I choose you!" He yelled out as he pulled out a sphereical device and tossed it in front of him. A large dragon with two axe like blades on the sides of his head. The yellow beast roared loudly, I could feel the ground shake a bit. It looked pretty strong, and I was about to see how strong in this battle, if I stayed awake for it. "Oi! Crono! See the hole? It's in there! Flush it out with a Dragon Pulse."

The large reptillian creature fired a light blue orb of energy into the hole in the ground. I waited a few seconds and noticed that nothing was happening. I didn't see the Drilbur resurface. I figured it had more than one escape route. It being a digger and all made that point more likely.

Sure enough, the small mole popped out of the ground behind the large dragon, slamming hard into him. The attack didn't seem to hurt the Dragon at all. Haxorus just snorted and returned the slam with Aerial Ace. Drilbur flew back a few feet and dug back into the ground. I hoped it wasn't going to try the same thing again. It was that reason that I decided to continue with my plan and fall asleep.

The Haxorus roared loudly, flexing his muscles as his roar shook the very earth beneath them. Pebbles rattled against the ground as a few bounced off my shoes. The dust whipped across the vast rocky plain as it swirl into a small tornado, bouncing carelessly to and fro until it swept past the two combatants. I saw how Cronorus was getting and so far he was going to get ornery real quick and real fast. Turning behind me, I took a few large steps back and looked at my raging Dragon-type. His eyes were burning from the sigh of such a strong opponent, regardless of such small size and lack of evolution. It was a going to be a good fight. A noble fight. A real quick fight if Cronorus didn't get a command and run wild. He wouldn't do that of course but if he was anything like my Endgame, he would charge like wild. What could I do and what would be effective. Then it struck me.

"Dragon Dance. Pour all you can into it, just concentrate!" I shouted as I watch the blades around his neck glistened in the sunlight.

It was a low growl to begin with but it then turned into a fearsome roar. His head was held up high to the sky and arms spread out. Just then, the sky had began to darken and pebbles began to rattle against the ground. I took one more step back as I looked at my Pokemon in awe. He had never done this before. What was going on? As I blinked in order to make sure this was really happening, Cronorus was going strong, not letting up. I could see the rage in his eyes as a dark looking aura surrounded him. Soon black static balls began to follow. All of these elements began to combine in unison as he roar again, almost shaking the earth to its core. The aura and static balls swirled around him slowly then quickly, almost faster than the eye could comprehend. I could see his eye glow a stark white as his roar began to get more ravenous, more primal. The storm aura turned an almost gold color before electrical surges followed.

The power was immense and the landscape itself began to change as the dragon type pokemon raged on, remembering such pain and sorrow it had felt in its life time. Traversing the harsh tundra’s, walking through massive blizzards, enduring the sweltering morning suns of the desert. It did what it had to in order to survive. It remembered seeing a fallen trainer and his Charmander passed out under a massive rock. They would not survive long even if moved so Axew had mercy killed both, starting with the males head and worked its way down. The Charmander watched in horror as the Axew slurped up the last of the boys small intestines and stared hungrily at the Charmander as blood dripped from his mouth. The Charmander scampered away but the Axew bit into its flaming tail and snuffed out its flame for good as it bit it off in a large chunk. It had a full belly by the end day and enough strength to survive another day but not every day was promised. His eyes were completely red, tears streaming down them in cascading waterfalls. It only wanted to absolve its sins and become a better pokemon, but it would take more than simple tears to bring redemption. That threw Cronorus over the line.

His rage was fueled even higher as sonic boom rattled the ground beneath them as the Drillbur struggled to gain its balance. The simple roars alone began to shatter the rocks around them including the one the ranger was sleeping against. I was beginning to fear he was losing control of himself and his power. I sighed and watched as lightning was striking the area around them and the lava pool surrounding the volcano. This was going to be hell if he didn’t stop this soon. I took on step closer as more shock waves flourished from his body. Roaring more as the static like aura turned a glowing rainbow color, he released all the pent up rage, creating a massive crater the size of an outdoor swimming pool. He could see all of the holes the Drillbur had made. His eyes were aglow a stark white now as he stepped closer and closer to it, his feet leaving deep impressions in the hardened ground below. The rough sound of gravel being stepped on and turned into dust was a bit unsettling.

The Drillbur backed away a bit, eyes still full of fight as it raised its claw up and the nails began to spark rapidly as he swiped it down, gusts of wind following it with ease as it displayed such power. Therock behind the Drillbur and shattered the rock formation. He was going to lose control if I didn't do anything soon. Sighing, I yelled at it in order to reign him in and so far he seemed to be fighting his emotions and getting the upper hand as the dark skies abated and revealed a sunny day. He did seem a bit more buff and sleeker. Maybe the Dragon Dance packed a punch. The Drillbur looke at the Dragon type and clanged his claws together as it grinned, signaling it was ready for battle.

“Alright! Use Dragon Claw!" I yelled as Cronorus roared and held hiss claws up as they glowed a deadly orange color and began to slash wildly at it, his speed increased as well.
