Trainers' Estate: Tornament info and sign up!

We're gonna have a tornament for the members of the estate!!!
(your characters read about it on a notice board, okay.)

-HKIM said we will have prizes, courtesy of the URPG.

-Whatever your starter is/was in the URPG, that's who you use.

-I'm thinking for money, you get a certain (small) amount of $ for competing, and depending on how far you make it, the more you will get additionally. I will be discussing details with HKim.

Does the Starter 'mon have to be its lowest stage evolution? I started with Growlithe but it's evolved to Arcanine. And if we have a 1v1 tourney between FE mons, it won't get us any money.

And we can't devolve them either, I don't think...

Also, can we have a different Pokemon as our RP starter? Lucario is cool and all, but Milotic is epic. xD

Monbrey, Charizard, 16 extra moves at the moment... but thats likely to increase whenever.

 

A tournament relying on starters will end up with a lot of Fully Evolved pokemon involved, which means a lot of 1v1s with fully evolved mons if it's a 1v1 tournament. Maybe make it a 2v2 tournament, where the starter is involved in all battles? That way, the starter is the biggest influence while giving a bit more variety and thought to the battles. Maybe make it so the Pokemon you use as your second one in a battle has to be a Pokemon that you could get as a starter/evolve from one as well.

I see that as coming off either as an attempt at a money-making scheme or a profit-less tourney to both officials and refs. I stand by my suggestion. Or have it be an RP-based tourney, possibly with Trainers' Estate participants viewing and deciding who's the better battler that way (maybe select a panel of judges in an attempt to remove bias or something).

I may or may not participate regardless of what happens. Not sure yet. But it'd probably be best to get an official to look at full details of it before it starts.

 

He won't be disqualified. Here's a tentative/example plan-

Rank 1: Pokemon with 0-4 EMs compete with each other.
Rank 2: Pokemon with 5-10 EMs compete with each other.
Rank 3: Pokemon with 11-14 EMs compete with each other.
Rank 4: Pokemon with 15+ EMs compete with each other.


We'll probably either do something like that, or just make the people with a lot, select just a few for the purposes of this tornament.

Normally we don't have tournament sign-ups until the tournament rules are first approved by an official or higher.

Anyway, since the idea is to have a 1v1 tournament because not everyone has a second pokemon, I would like to propose something a little different.

Instead of having different divisions based on the number of Extra Moves, I recommend grouping everyone together in one large tournament.

Secondly, I want to know if you guys might be interested in battling using a ruleset that I haven't seen used in many years. Not DPP or Revolution, but RP battle rules.

This ruleset, which was around when I joined the URPG back in 2003, was essentially you battling with your opponent in an anime-style rp clash. You would roleplay how your pokemon acts and reacts in the battle, utilizing creativity moreso than stats. It is, for all intents and purposes, an rp battle.

The ref for this battle may not be a Ref at all, but perhaps a Judge from the National Park. Similarly, you could ask a Ref with significant RP experience such as Pidge to ref the battle.

I figured that since you guys are all dedicated roleplayers, that I at least offer this suggestion as a possibility you may embark on.
