I was looking back over some threads and I noticed that there was some discussion about a Battle Mode which you sent moves privately to the ref, but you send the Pokemon like you would in a D/P/Dpt match. So it's like a mixture of Revo and D/P/Dpt modes.

I think this would be a good and interesting battle mode and I thought I should bring up this topic again. It seemed that it fell of the radar last time.

As I mentioned, I'm pretty much neutral to this whole idea. It's unnecessary, but not broken in any way.

My concern is that if a large number of people don't want it implemented/wouldn't use it, I don't want it being forced on them by a gym leader.

I'd say yes to it. Perhaps it could be BW2 style ;o

I like it a lot, and I'd prob make it the go-to battle style for my gym. I could see it developing into the norm, or the standard battle style, over time as well. The move predicting element of Revo stays, but you also get the flexibility of not having to pick your team at the start which D/P/Pt offers. For people who that appeals to, like me, it's the best of both worlds. Big thumbs up.

    I love this idea.

I'm not picky about Gym Leaders forcing it, because it's their rules. Some people don't like to battle in Dppt or Revo or GB Clause or any of that, but they have to if the leader requires it. This isn't much different. If anything, its a blend between them. Other less than favorable rules (like weather) are forced against battlers already. /shrugs.

I personally don't see a need for it while at the same time not seeing a reason it should be shot down. It doesn't give anyone a major advantage, but it also doesn't really bring anything terribly new and exciting to the table either. Effectively I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other. On the one hand it is not needed because most people will continue using D/P/Pt rules because they are easy. On the other hand, we have a style named after each set of games so it doesn't sound like a bad BW2 set up. All in all my opinion is, and you can quote me on this, meh.

For clarity, I don't think we need it, but if we add it call it BW2.

I personally like the idea. I wouldn't use it often, probably (I tended to battle Revo over DP, barring basics) but I thought it should be a valid battle style in addition to the sets we have. As for Gym Leaders forcing it, I'm pretty much of the same opinion as Winter; it really shouldn't be too much of a problem, as even if you specialized in a specific type of battle mode, you're used to half of this one already. And it's far better than forcing Fog on. Maybe I'd try it more and like it if gym leaders did force it; my first battle experience with DPPt that wasn't basics was in a gym battle, and while I still prefer Revo, DPPt is interesting in its own way.

So basically its BW rules flipped around around? I see no harm in it.

What everyone seems to agree on: It's not needed, but it's okay.

Yeah, pretty much it. I do hope it gets implemented. I mean, it does mean more options.

Well it seems to have an overall positive response. I'll keep it in mind for BW2 as most of you have suggested, since that's only a couple of months away.

Heh, there are so many rule sets in the URPG now that I don't think one more will hurt. This is a relatively simple one to add, at any rate.

Yes. Funny how last time there was a huge outcry to it and now it's just "sure".

I've always stood by that this should be the true "Revolution"/"Colosseum" style (since otherwise there's an inconsistency between the relationship between D/P/Pt and Revolution, and the relationship between BW and BW Revolution, but every time I try to explain it, I end up waffling and people don't get it). But, if it was implemented as BW2, I could live with that :3

^ Where the whole discussion last time started.

I personally love the idea, it could be really nice for things such as Double/Triple/Rotation/Tournaments where DPPt is too unfair, while still allowing more flexibility. Though I don't think BW2 would make sense as the name for it, because it should be some type of Revolution or w/e gen 5 Wii(U) game will be, I remember the name Revolution X coming up last time.

As it was said last time, BW = BW Revolution; DPPt =/= Revolution

    I'm all in favor.

Revolution X was my sucky on-the-spot name for the current Revolution style xD I think this mode should be D/P/Pt Revolution (as it will be similar to D/P/Pt rules), and the current mode should be something like 'Console Revolution' or even plainly 'Console Mode' (as it will be similar to the consoles), although that could then get confused with Gameboy Mode.

Seriously, was this really an issue before?

I always adhered to the principle that if it's OK with the ref, it should be OK.
What possible sane reason could be given against it?
